What is Queerminal Minds?

Queerminal Minds started out in July 2015. The origin post was in reply to getting an Anon that said “Stop making Criminal Minds Gay!” In the years since, it has grown to become a pretty popular tag in the CM fandom. Complete with everything from head canons, to fanart, fanfic and more. It is simply a celebration of all things Queer and Criminal Minds!

Emily Prentiss

Sexuality: Demisexual, lesbian!!!

Gender: Who knows?! || Pronouns: She/Her

I have always seen Emily as demisexual, she really has to get to know someone before sleeping with them.

Emily is the bottomest bottom. Just complete and utter baby. Not a single dominant inkling in her when it comes to sex

Jordan is the type of person who walks into the queer club and everyone stops to stare. They command attention anywhere they go, even when she's not even trying. Just alluring AF and it's not her fault!!!

Jordan for sure dated Emily when she was filling in for JJ in S4. Jordan caught feelings really bad for Emily, but Emily got scared about someone getting that close to getting past her defences so she sort of ghosted Jordan. (Emily still regrets this)

Alex Blake

Sexuality: Bisexual/Queer

Gender: (I hate that all I want to say here is: Yes, Daddy) || Pronouns: She/Her

Alex is super polyamorous and fine with casual sex with friends. She's confident AF and happy to Dom any of the women of the BAU

Alex and Emily slept together before Emily left in '200'.

Alex also had a thing with Strauss before Strauss tried to ruin her career.

Elle Greenaway

Sexuality: Pansexual, Aromantic

She’s No Hack - Film Review: Cora Bora ★★★1/2

Megan Stalter has emerged as a wholly unique comic presence with her viral “Hi Gay!” videos and her scene stealing role as Kayla on Hacks. The latter, in particular, really has showed off her range with that raw, revealing scene in the 3rd season finale. Still, in everything I’ve seen, she’s cultivated a messy yet overly confident persona who leaves a trail of disaster wherever she goes. With Cora Bora, her first lead role, Stalter gets the chance to give the people what they want while mining those depths even further.

Director Hannah Pearl Utt and writer Rhianon Jones have crafted a small, slice of life, micro budget indie more or less as a showcase for Stalter’s talents. With a meandering, episodic plot and a plethora of supporting characters who mostly do well but have fairly thin material to work with, Stalter still shines. If you can’t get enough of Kayla, this should tide you over quite nicely until Season 4 drops.

Stalter stars as Cora, an aspiring Los Angeles musician with perhaps more bravado than skills. When we first meet her, she performs a lackluster gig, hooks up with a random flat earther (a small but deft turn by Thomas Mann), and keeps getting blown off by her Portland girlfriend Justine (wonderfully portrayed by Jojo T. Gibbs). Suspecting she’s cheating on her, Cora, with her broken guitar case in tow, heads up to Oregon to find out the truth and perhaps find her own voice in the process.

From here, we witness a series of vignettes as Cora tries to steal a first class seat on a plane in a meet-cute with Tom (Manny Jacinto), loses her precious dog, stumbles upon an orgy, and discovers Justine has started a relationship with Riley (Ayden Mayeri, nicely grounded here after her wild performance on the cancelled too soon, I Love That For You). Each encounter seems to fuel Cora with ideas for her songs, such as “Dreams are stupid and so are you for believing in them,” or “Why try and be a better person when dating apps exist?”, and after a while, you come to love her somewhat terrible but endearing point of view. The filmmakers do a lovely job of adding layers to Cora’s character, culminating in a knock-out monologue by Stalter that rings true. Extra points for a truly catchy opening credits song called “Get Out Of My House” by Miya Folick and a vivid montage which perfectly captures the spirit on the film.

I also give credit to the film for its depiction of a bisexual character navigating a deeply flawed open relationship. The ups and downs of it get handled with a rare grace and this storyline shows off her cast at its best. Instead of outright dismissing Cora, Justine and Riley approach this basket case with a real maturity. I only wish some others in the supporting cast were given more to do, with Margaret Cho utterly wasted as almost an extra in an orgy scene. Chelsea Peretti pops up for a moment as a freaked out neighborhood dog owner and she tonally seems to be in a different movie. Glee’s Heather Morris has a sharp turn as an old friend of Cora’s, but her transition from old pal to resentful enemy comes out of nowhere, as if a connective scene had been cut.

Still, Cora Bora offers up a genial shaggy dog story and more than makes the case that Stalter can carry a film with her zany yet off-putting, charm. You may have seen this a thousand times before, but not with a character like Cora at the center. Life may beat her down, but this self-absorbed yet well-meaning wanderer knows how to beat back.

Cora Bora opens in select theaters on June 14th.

Ooooo boi *gremlin smile* I'm glad you asked. You've entered the dragon's den, broken the dam and thus this post turned out to be a monster so I'm gonna link here another post from @accidentallyadramablog which imo gives a nice (and short) overview.

That said let's get into

Love is Science?

Summary :

Yan Fei is a the CEO of the Love is Science marriage agency, that matches people based on scientific data. Hsuan Yu, 8 years younger than her, is a promising young hairstylist who has been in love with her thoughout their entire childhood when she has only ever seen him like a little brother.

Unexpectedly they meet again. Between the way they've each built their lives and how Yong Yan Fei's ex husband still looms over Yan Fei's life, how will their relationship develop this time around ?

Now,

just reading that summary I know what you're thinking.

Indeed, if you have some experience with dramas, you might recognize some TYPICAL TYPICAL tropes – let's get them out of the way :

love triangle (though we all know who she is going to end up with don't we)

childhood friends

'noona romance'

And they are every bit as present and as trope-ey as you would expect.

However, as they say, the devil is in the details.

And particularly, in the side characters. Let me give you a quick rundown of the lot of them :

As such, we follow the stories of multiple relationships that develop parallel to one another.

The relationships

• Yan Fei/ Hsuan Yu : Not much needs to be added I think. Their storyline might be the most predictable but they are pretty sweet and heartwarming. pining for like 12 years though poor Hsuan Yu. Anyway you can enjoy it or find it boring or but you can't hate it.

• Mark/Ouwen : Noooow we're getting to it. Their dynamic is so... Refreshing and unique. Confident gay with a soft heart and dumb disaster bisexual I mean *chef kiss*👌delicious

After the disasters of their first meetings, it's a cat and dog relationship where Ouwen is the hsssssss don't touch me– cat and Mark is the golden retriever trailing after him not really realizing the rampage he's creating in Ouwen's heart. while Ouwen is like "Remind me why the FUCK I caught feelings again ?".

IDK it just has everything 'Enemies' to friends to lovers, (not actually) unrequited love, pining, sweet moments, jealousy, feelings realization, snarky banter... What more could one want.

• Cho Nai Hui / You Fu : they are. So. So sweet. Both are older and have experience, and as such they are not so naive or stupid as the youngsters. Them sharing their life experiences and going on dates like typically teenagers (in movies or TV shows anyway) would is refreshing to see and really really heartwarming.

• Liu Sheng Ying/ ??? Her ex ? : The show hinted at a wlw storyline and this arc seems to have JUST begun. Basically Sheng Ying's ex comes to Love is Science as a client and requests Sheng Ying as an advisor, while Sheng Ying still seems heartbroken over her. I can't WAIT to see how it develops.

The friendships :

Something I greatly appreciate is that both the romantic relationships AND the friendships have a great importance in the drama.

• Joanna and Yan Fei : Jo, queen Jo 👑. She's just here to gossip, get all the gossip and be the voice of reason and we love her for it. You can see how comfortable they are around each other and how they were there for each other during tough times and still are. Kudos to the actresses because I believed the characters were besties in a heartbeat.

• Hsuan Yu and Mark : they are honestly... Such polar opposites you kinda wonder how they became friends but they are and it works perfectly.

Hsuan Yu still hasn't gotten he maybe shouldn't take Mark's advice, and Mark still hasn't gotten that he, definitely should take Hsuan Yu's. It also enables to develop a more playful and mischievous side to Hsuan Yu, giving him more depth?

• Ouwen and Sheng Ying: rivalry to reluctant solidarity to friends-but-i-will-deny-it-if-asked to just friends. IT'S GREAT

I also ejoy the fact that these multiple storylines are allowed to coexist. The romantic ones, the friendships, older, younger, m/f m/m and f/f like take your pick !! And tbh a WLW storyline ?????? These are so scarce I will take anything.

The recurring themes :

The show more or less subtly touches on some topics/issues, to which the dating aspect contributes to.

A non exhaustive list would be

Divorce, and how divorced women can be viewed as failures for some reason

How successful men over 30 are sought after but successful women after 30 are somehow deemed undatable

Preconceived notions and homophobia

And beyond the topics, there's just things like... Joanna not being interested in long term relationships nor wanting to get married, reporting sexual harassment, older people going on dates.... I'm not saying it's a groundbreaking activist drama –which is not really what I was looking for– I just appreciate the fact that it is a pretty mainstream drama and that these things are there.

Mad respect if you've made it up to here ! but we're not quite done yet.

The cast and crew :

The other element that made this drama stand out for me besides the side characters is the cast.

It might be weird that such a meta thing impacts the appreciation of the show but it did, for me at least.

📣📣TMI WARNING 📣📣

For me what happened is I stumbled onto Mark and Ouwen cuts on YouTube, then somehow onto the behind the scenes. They weren't subbed at the time so I could barely understand a word of what they were saying, thus I'm not sure what but something about how the rest of the actors, the director and the crew were interacting just told me it was a show worth watching or at least checking out.

The cast honestly seems to have a blast and to have, how to say it, come together really well. It seems like most of them have become genuinely friends, or despite differences in personality have truly enjoyed working with one another and with the rest of the crew, and it shows.

Where it's lacking

In my opinion the show does have some aspects where it underperforms.

As previously mentioned, the main plot is kinda tropey, furthermore, in a drama typical fashion when something is about to get resolved, immediately something else happens. Nothing unexpected from a drama though.

The pacing : Some moments of the main plot especially dragged on, so I admit I skipped through some parts.

Because I feel so strongly about all the characters though, I don't really mind the previously mentioned points. I just think it's a shame because I feel like if it had been crafted a little bit better it could have made the show go from an 8/10 good drama to an 11/10 friggin amazing drama easy.

Lastly, there is a pretty unequal time distribution so Yan Fei and Hsuan Yu do tend to occupy the most part of an episode. However some episodes are more centered on some pairings (like ep 11 that will probably have an important Mark/Ouwen part).

Overall

it's a drama that warms my heart, as simple as that. It's not that deep, it's pretty funny, the acting ranges from good to excellent and I have taken a liking to a lot of the characters, which is what I think fuels my interest for the drama.

And I feel like it managed to attract a wide range of audiences because the romances and relationships are so diverse. Whether you watch the show for its entirety or for one aspect/storyline/character is entirely up to you and I feel like the creators of the drama are aware of it as well : and you can easily find subbed compilations about each specific pairing on Settv's official YouTube channel.

Take that aspect that you like–if you find one of course–and enjoy it, that is all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Summary: An instagram post Marjan makes is interpreted as a coming out post. This was not her intention.

This is quite possibly the worst outcome Marjan can think of. She posted the roller derby photos because her feed has been quite dead since the whole “cancelling of firefox” thing that happened. It’s something non-controversial, and she loves to show off her brilliant team mates in the way that she assumes most people feel about their friends. She wants the world to see these talented, confident, beautiful women the way she sees them. Marjan spent a few minutes meticulously tagging each member of the team in the photos she posted, lining up each black bar with the correct face. She figures it’s a good appreciation of these women.

What happens instead of her friends being showered in compliments is speculation Marjan could have never, ever predicted. She knows that many of her fans are gay, particularly gay young women. Young lesbians. It’s a fact that she keeps in the back of her mind for no reason at all other than to just know it. This majority, however, make themselves known in the aftermath of the photos being posted.

Marjan reads a comment that simply states, “ONE OF US! ONE OF US! ONE OF US!” followed by a bunch of heart emojis and wonders what it means. One of what? She scrolls through the thousands of comments on her post and tries to make sense of them when she realizes the error she’s made.

The team photo on the first slide was when they all went to pride together, since most of the members of the roller derby team are LGBT+ and wanted to go as a group. Marjan went as an ally, but failed to clarify this point when she posted it. The thought smacks her in the face.

People think this post was her coming out.

And it’s too late to take it back, but Marjan deletes the post the moment she connects the dots. Her first thought is for her family, who follow her on instagram. Her mother. Her siblings. They likely already saw. Marjan can just imagine the horror in her mother’s voice over the phone, asking Marjan if it’s true. One of her little sisters is still in high school, she could get bullied if anyone thinks that she might be related to a gay person. It’s going to be a disaster.

“Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit!”

“Marjan?”

She looks up to see Mateo peeking into the bunk room. He looks concerned.

“Cap sent me to get you for dinner. Are you okay?”

“It’s nothing,” she lies, quickly putting her phone into her pocket. “Paul cooked, right? So it should be pretty good.”

Mateo easily moves on from his first question, chatting about the salad he helped make to go with dinner, and Marjan is able to just nod along to his words without really paying attention or responding. She’s in so much trouble. The last time she checked, there’s already a handful of articles about her photo. People know. It’s only a matter of time before everyone she’s ever met to know about the alleged coming out. Just thinking about it has Marjan’s eyes stinging with tears.

By the time she sits down in her seat at the table, she can feel all their eyes on her. Being calm and collected is kind of her thing, and she feels so unbearably seen right now, in ways she’s never wanted to be. They all wait for her to speak, but once they realize she’s not going to on her own, Paul reaches across the table to take one of her hands.

“Marjan, what’s wrong? We’re all here for you.”

She glances around at them. They could dismiss her in disgust easily. But she knows TK is gay, and everyone seems okay with it. At the very least, she knows TK won’t let them say anything too bad about the situation.

“I posted some roller derby photos, on instagram. Um, one of them was from pride.”

Mateo’s face lights up. “That was such a cool day! It was my first time going to pride, since I wasn’t, like, out before. I can see why you’d wanna post those photos.”

“People think it was a coming out post.” She glances around the table to see neutral faces. “They think I’m gay.”

At that, TK stabs his fork particularly hard into his dinner and shoots a look at her. “And what’s wrong with being gay, Marj?”

His words get Mateo’s attention, honing in on the hurt and the concept that Marjan could be something less than accepting. Mateo’s self-discovery of bisexuality is recent, recent enough that he’s still rather insecure in his open identity. She doesn’t want him to think she cares about this sort of thing, even if she kind of does. But only when it’s her. Other people can be gay, or bi, but she knows it’s not something that’s allowed to her. Her family would be devastated.

“Is there something wrong?” Mateo asks.

Marjan rushes to say no as Judd lowers his head and folds his hands like he’s praying.

“It’s not that, it’s just… I…”

“Are you?” Paul asks.

Everyone’s attention snaps to him, and then to Marjan. She can almost feel the blood drain from her face as they all turn with the same look on their face, the same question. It’s all a given what they’re asking. What they want to know. She can’t handle their rejection for this.

“Marjan,” he says gently, “it’s okay if you’re LGBT. You know that us, of all people, are going to love and support and defend you no matter what.”

Marjan stands up from the table, her chair scooting back loudly. “I need some air.”

She all but runs to the stairs, hopping down each step to get to the doors on the first floor to the cool outside air. It’s a relief against her suddenly flushed cheeks. She knows she can’t be gay. It’s not allowed. She had a fiancé for most of her life. It was always a given that she’d marry a man, one of her family’s choosing, without much of her say in the matter. Of course she could veto someone, or say they weren’t right for her, but the fact is that her husband was always going to be chosen for her. There’s been no room, no time, for her to consider any other romantic pursuits, especially with a woman.

For the very first time, Marjan allows herself to think about that. About women, and the possibility of being in a romantic relationship with a woman. In her mind’s eye, the woman is generic. Dark hair, big eyes, soft skin. There’s no face, just the imagined feeling of curves under her hands, perhaps the softness of a breast pressed to her palm. Thinking about this for the very first time as a possibility overwhelms her with its suddenness. She feels especially guilty when the imagined woman begins to take the shape of one of her friends. This isn’t right. This is perverse, an intrusion, worse than peeping.

She feels sick to her stomach as she sinks to sit against the wall. This isn’t okay. She should’ve never posted that picture, and then people wouldn’t be saying these things about her. If they never said those things, she wouldn’t be having the most upsetting realization of her life right now either.

Marjan isn’t sure how long she’s sitting out on the asphalt before Paul comes out and joins her, taking a seat at her side. His warm shoulder meets hers in a silent comfort for nearly five full minutes before he speaks.

“I was already an adult when I realized,” he says to her. “I didn’t ‘always know,’ at least not in my conscious mind. It wasn’t until I was already out in the world as a firefighter that I truly realized who I was, and that was really scary. I had a long road ahead of me, with a lot of self-discovery, and I had a lot of people to tell. I was terrified.”

“How did you know?” Marjan asks. “That you really are trans?”

Paul sighs. “I didn’t. I questioned it a lot when I was first beginning my transition. For some people, they just know, and they have for a long time, but I was both certain that I was a man and worried that I was doing it for attention. It was hard. I went to therapy for a long time, to understand myself and to help me do what was best for myself. I had a lot of internalized transphobia to work through. On top of that, I had thought I was a lesbian for a long time before I realized I wasn’t, so I kind of understand what you might be going through. Questioning your gender and your sexuality are really similar in a lot of ways, but incredibly different in others. Regardless of your journey, Marjan, whether you’re straight or not, it’s going to take a lot of reflection. All of us here at the 126 have your back. If you need to listen, or talk, or just be distracted, we’re all here for you. We love you, Marj. I love you. And if you need anything, I’m here.”

She leans into his side and he puts an arm around her for the closest approximation of a hug they can manage while sitting side-by-side on the ground. Marjan knows she has a long path ahead of her of understanding her sexuality, and not just in terms of orientation. What she wants in a relationship and how to have one are things she doesn’t really understand yet, and that’s something she’s going to have to confront to move forward in her life. She’s scared of what it means for her future. She’s scared of what her family will think. She’s scared of what the world will think. But as she sits beside Paul, it is clear that there are people who are going to support her no matter what.

With that, she may be able to learn this about herself.

Oh, Bi the Way [Analogical]

Here’s a fun little Analogical highschool au where Virgil comes out as Bi to Logan. Reblogs and feedback are really appreciated!

Virgil paces tight circles in his bedroom, his hands woven in his hair as his mind runs rampant. He glances out the window, the daylight golden and fading outside. Logan will be here soon, he realizes with dread, his heart hammering even faster at the thought.

I shouldn’t be this fucking nervous, he thinks to himself as if most things in life don’t make him anxious. Virgil’s been plagued by horrible anxiety for most of his life, but this really isn’t something that should be putting the pit in his stomach that it is.

But he’s been hiding something – is still hiding something and it’s so goddamn stupid. It really isn’t a big deal. He should be able to go ahead and say it no problem. Except Virgil’s stupid brain has to make things so fucking complicated, doesn’t it?! It has to mess with him and make him think that maybe people are going to freak out and maybe it’s going to be a total disaster.

He’s bisexual.

Yeah, yeah. He knows it isn’t a big deal. Tons of people are queer, and he just happens to be one of them. For fuck’s sake, his best friend Logan is gay! It’s not his fault that no one had told him there was an in-between. He was anxious enough about crushes on girls so once he figured out boys too? Well, he didn’t have the balls to tell anyone.

Sometimes he blamed it on the fact that he grew up in the foster system. Getting shuffled around from home to home the way he did, he didn’t exactly have a chance to get a good set of parents to teach him the ins-and-outs of the LGBTQ+ community. He was a fourteen-year-old getting bounced around, not even trying to get close to any of the people whose care he was under because in a blink of an eye, they’d be gone.

And then he’d gotten adopted by the Knight-Hart’s. It was still what Virgil was probably the most grateful for in his life. He was fourteen-in-a-half, having lost hope of being adopted years ago and yet here he was, brought into the home of two of the sweetest people he’d ever met.

It’s so stupid �� Virgil’s parents are gay! He’s got two dads and he can’t even tell them he’s bi? Why does his brain hate him so much?! His fathers’ have helped him so much in the few years he’s been in their care, bringing more happiness and joy into his life than he’d known in so long. His Pops is always making dad jokes that Virgil can pretend he despises all he wants, but really, they crack him up. He’s such a kind, good-hearted guy who’s been nothing but supportive of Virgil since day one. His dad is no different in that respect, loving just the same but with a bit more bravado and eccentricities. What can he say? His dad’s an actor and his flair for the dramatics fail to surprise Virgil any longer.

He loves them. He really loves them but it’s still so hard to think about coming out to them, let alone Logan. God, Logan’s going to be there anytime now!

Virgil continues his pacing, trying his best to steady his breathing. If he can muster up the courage, he’s going to tell him. Virgil’s going to come out to his best friend.

After everything the pair’s been through, Logan deserves to know. Virgil met John in the beginning of high school, a time where he found it almost impossible to make friends of any kind. Virgil’s anxiety and self-doubt made having a mere successful conversation feel like an accomplishment of some kind. He didn’t think he’d ever get the chance to have a true friend, let alone a best friend. But when he met Logan that all changed.

Despite Virgil’s hesitations, they got along famously right away. Although Logan was far stiffer and more out of touch with pop-culture than anyone Virgil had ever met (Seriously, he pronounced “fam” as fahm) he was also an incredibly smart and interesting person who Virgil was proud to know. Logan could tell him so many interesting facts about outer-space or the ocean and was always really good about handling Virgil’s anxiety. Virgil had never met someone who he clicked with so instantaneously before, they just got each other. Even if they were spending time together doing separate things, Virgil was thankful to merely be in Logan’s presence. He kept him grounded.

So, of course he fell hard for him. it’s not like Virgil doesn’t know that there’s a change that his feelings are reciprocated, it isn’t impossible. Just unlikely, and damn does it sure feel impossible. Virgil’s been spending the nearly four years he’s known Logan trying to convince himself that he’s straight as an arrow and doesn’t feel anything for Logan – neither of which things are true, of course.

The two friends are going to the same college, so it isn’t like Virgil’s gonna have any room to breathe and get other his feelings. He’s been dancing around things for so long, and frankly it’s getting kind of exhausting. Virgil isn’t expecting Logan to feel the same way – god, he’s never been that much of an optimist in all his life – but telling him is something Virgil’s decided he has to go through with.

If he can manage to muster up the courage, that is.

Logan arrives, punctual as always and beautiful as ever. Logan’s the only kid Virgil’s ever met who wears a tie almost daily, claiming such attire is an attribute of his “seriousness.” Hah, as if Virgil doesn’t know about his unicorn onesie, not that he’d tell anyone about it. He’ll let Logan keep up the “serious” act, if that’s what he wants. It suits him, anyhow.

Virgil’s going to give it a minute, he decides, and they start to do their homework in relative silence. This is no oddity for the pair, they often spend time over at each other’s homes after school to do work or catch up or both. But Virgil’s heart isn’t usually beating out of his chest when he’s doing his fucking APLit homework. He told himself he was just going to take a minute to collect his thoughts before breaking the silence, but god, it’s been like thirty minutes at least and he hasn’t said anything and he’s getting too fucking nervous and he doesn’t think he can do this and –

“Virgil?” Logan’s voice cuts through the haze of his mind, voice calm and collected.

“Uh – yeah?” Virgil replies dumbly, his eyes snapping up to meet Logan’s gaze. Logan shuts his book, moving from his spot at Virgil’s desk to sitting beside him on his bed, a look of concern etched into his face.

“Are you alright? You seem distressed, and you’ve been reading that same page for over five minutes now.”

Shit, Virgil hadn’t even noticed. Logan’s question has offered him the perfect Segway to what he wants to say, it couldn’t have been laid out better. Except…Virgil can’t do this. He’s too nervous, and his hands are trembling, and this is going to be an absolute train-wreck.

“I’m fine,” Virgil mutters, hoping Logan will just drop it. He just wants to burry himself in his own cowardice, thank you very much. “Just a little distracted, I guess.”

“Forgive me if I don’t believe you,” Logan’s voice is even and steady, so the opposite of how Virgil’s feeling, “but you appear to be very nervous. For several days now, your anxiety has appeared to be heightened. I didn’t want to voice my…” Logan swallows thickly, “…concerns, fearing it might only worsen things. But I must confess, I’m getting a bit worried.”

Well fuck, is all Virgil can think. Logan, in the absolute sweetest way possible, has backed him into a corner. Evidently, Logan’s been worried about him and the thought makes his stomach turn. He hadn’t even realized he was acting any more nervous than he usually does.

"I don’t suppose you won’t just drop this for a while?” Virgil asks with a fleeting hope that maybe he can escape this in one piece.

“I’m afraid not.” Virgil sighs. It figures.

“Okay. Okay, you’re going to think this is so fucking stupid.”

“I highly doubt that. When was the last time I reacted in such a way to you telling me something?” Logan makes a good point, as Virgil can’t remember a recent instance.

“I mean, sure, but this is really dumb, L. I’ve kinda been trying to tell you this for forever, but, big surprise, I’m really anxious about it.” Virgil flinches as he feels a hand settle onto his shoulder, seeing the sincere concern in Logan’s eyes.

“Whatever it is you want to tell me, I’m here, Virgil. I’m your friend and your fears are not baseless or dumb. It’s okay to be afraid.” Virgil’s pulse hammers in his ears as he nods, taking a shaky breath.

“Yeah alright…s-so uh, I’m bi.” Virgil nervously ducks his head, his eyes landing on the carpet. It’s not like it would make sense for Logan to react poorly, but like, what if he did?

“Well, thank you for telling me, Virgil. How long have you –.”

“I dunno, a while,” Virgil interrupts, still not looking at Logan, “See? I told you, stupid.” “I never said stupid. You aren’t stupid for not coming out until now, there is no time limit or restrictions when it comes to identity. I’m glad you told me, Virge. Thank you, I know that it can be very hard to do so.” Virgil finally feels confident enough to meet Logan’s eyes, a lopsided smile forming on his face.

“Thanks, man. That kinda makes me feel better. You’re, uh, the first person I’ve told. I wanted it to be you who I told first, that is. Cuz, you know, we’re…” Virgil hesitates, struggling through the words “such good friends.” The pressure on his shoulder reseeds and is replaced at his hand where Logan has laced their fingers together. Virgil feels a shiver run down his spine.

“Is that all you wanted to tell me, or was there something else as well?” Virgil can feel the heat radiating off of him, knowing his cheeks are going crimson. Fuck, fuck Logan knows. He knows and he’s pitying him.

“I – uhh –,” Virgil sputters, incredibly dignified.

“I only ask because you still seem to be rather nervous. I’m not trying to provoke you and I apologize if that’s what I’ve made you to believe. I’m –.”

“I’m also, uh, kinda really in love with you.” Virgil can’t help it, it just comes up like word vomit. He can’t believe he just said that! He’s sure any second now Logan’s going to let go of his hand and push him away. He’s sure Logan will leave and never come back, and he’ll have lost his best friend.

“You…you are?” Logan doesn’t sound outraged or disgusted. He sounds relieved.

“Uh, y-yeah. Shit, did I just make things weird?” From the way Virgil finds Logan taking a fistful of Virgil’s hoodie and pulling him into a kiss, he’s inclined to believe that no, he didn’t just make things weird. The embrace is clumsy at first, their teeth knocking before Virgil’s hands are laced in Logan’s hair, melting into this kiss.

“I love you too, in case that wasn’t clear,” Logan says breathlessly as they part, their foreheads pressed together. Virgil laughs, relief washing over him in waves.

“Fuck, L, I thought I was about to lose you as a friend or something. I never entertained the thought that…”

“That I’ve been in love with you for years?” Virgil’s lips curled into a smirk.

“Years, huh?” He asks, as if he probably hasn’t loved Logan for just as long unknowingly.

“And here I’ve been, suffering in the belief that you were heterosexual. And you know my stance on feelings.” Virgil laughs, kissing Logan again and wondering how quickly you can become addicted to something because holy shit, this is amazing.

“Yeah, yeah, their “the bane of your existence” and all that.”

“Priestley.”

“Full disclosure, there’s no way I’m finishing my homework now,” Virgil says. Logan swats him.

“You horrid delinquent.” Virgil chuckles again, throwing his arms around Logan and pulling him into a bone-crushing hug. For two boys who claim to be averse to most physical contact, they seem to be enjoying themselves a fair amount.

“Okay, this is probably a stupid question, but are we a thing now?”

“Are you asking to be my boyfriend?”

“Maaaaybe.”

“Well then I accept. I find your presence to be tolerable.” Virgil snorts, holding Logan closer than he ever has and never wanting to let him go before a thought comes to mind.

“Hey, L?”

“Mm?”

“You wanna stay for dinner and help me come out to my dads?” Virgil can’t believe it, but for once in his life he’s feeling brave. Logan’s made him feel brave.

“I would be more than happy to offer my assistance.” Virgil grins. “It’s gonna be great because they already love you, I mean, you’re so fuckin’ smart, and nice, and cute, and –.” “You’re rambling, Virge.” Virgil pulls away to see the flush on Logan’s cheeks.

“Aww, you’re embarrassed!”

“I absolutely am not.”

“Lo?” “Yes, Virgil?” The fondness in Logan’s tone was just about to kill him it was so sweet. Virgil kisses him again, long and slow, his hands planted firmly above Logan’s waist. His boyfriend – oh my god, he has a boyfriend! – continues to lean in, even as he pulls away. There’s no way Virgil’s ever going to recover from the cuteness.

“I love you.” Logan sighs contently.

“I love you too, Virge.”

“Virgil, honey, dinner’s ready!” Virgil’s Pops calls from downstairs. Virgil and Logan share a somewhat nervous, lovesick glance.

"Let’s go tell my dad’s I’m bi as fuck and have an insanely nerdy boyfriend,” Virgil says as he gets up from the bed, earning a chuckle from Logan. Logan grips onto his hand.

“Lead the way.”

this might be the start of a mini-series where i share little bits and pieces from my paracosms/paras out of all of my current paracosms, this has the least world-building yet the most character development. it’s my second-oldest and definitely has a special place in my heart (i would literally die for any one of these characters lmaooo). it’s essentially about a group of british high school students dealing with all kinds of angst, drama and a fair amount of happiness. i’m very scared to post this so we’ll see how it goes.

Kaiser Granvorka, captain of the Purple Orcas (sing that title. You will not regret it.)

Sometimes less is more. I love his design. I love his chill. I love his love of his wife. I love how he stepped up to clean up his trash squad.

Reve

I LOVE the elves and I really wish that they would get some recognition. Did you know that Phantom Knights just calls Reve and Charla “Dorothy (reincarnated)” and “Charlotte (reincarnated)”? They’re different people!! They have NAMES. Why wouldn’t they use their names?? The elves have so much lost potential!

Anyway, Reve is also very chill. A sleepy queen. I have a LOT of headcanons about her. I also have an au where the elves stay after reincarnation and share their bodies with their hosts, and she and Dorothy are best friends and girlfriends and hang out in glamour world together and I love them.

Nebra and Nozel Silva

But in all seriousness, she’s my favorite Silva. She’s just sort of a mean, sexy lamp in the manga/anime, but she gets slightly more character development in Phantom Knights, where you see that she’s at least an honorable knight who really cares about getting things done right and even goes above and beyond the call of duty; she’s a lot more mature than Solid, and it even seems that she’s more concerned about capabilities than status at some points (much to Solid’s surprise.) That doesn’t mean she won’t go out of her way to make trouble, which is fun. The wiki also suggests she has confidence issues which is super interesting to me. I’d like to see her grow as a character or get like... even a little bit of attention at all besides backing up Nozel and Solid and getting stabbed. I also think her magic is really cool... would love to see her actually use it sometime.

There’s more to her than her pretty, pretty face!! She’s probably my #1 favorite.

Charlotte is awesome, but the sheer hilarity of Charla and Charlotte sharing a body is what make Charla so, so good. The LAST thing Charla did before going away forever is SNITCH on Charlotte to her crush. This elf loves drama. She would help Charlotte so, so much, but also make her life a living hell. We stan a queen who can’t mind her own business.

This man is hilarious. He’s a full grown man ready to throw hands with a 15 year old because William gives him attention. He fell in a hole and had to be saved. Yuno let him declare all his love for William and then obliterated him. It’s so funny. It’s what this asshole deserves. A perfect, satisfying character arc and a hilariously embarrassing personality wins him his place among my faves. I love to hate him so much. I’d like to put a picture of his stupid face in a locket to look at and give me strength in any situation. “At least I’m not this man child,” I would say. A smile would tug at my lips as a single tear ran down my face. “Thank you, Alecdora,” I would whisper, holding his image close to my heart.

My favorites tend to change around with my moods, so maybe on any other given day, you would find Charlotte Roselei, Paplo Espuma, or Kirsch Vermillion (post royal knights exam humbling) on this list. Charlotte is badass, Paplo cute, and Kirsch is funny with cool magic. Also working with Charlotte on my blog, @lawstaverse makes me fond of her, and I have some fun party boy headcanons for Kirsch and the Coral Peacocks. Mimosa Vermillion is also super duper cute. Honestly, Jien Du could even be on here for being accused of being evil and then going “let me clear things up” and then just doing the super villain laugh- also for having rainbow lights flashing around him when he fights. I can hear carameldansen playing in the distance whenever he’s doing stuff.

Now for my favorite couples!

Fuegoleon Vermillion x Nozel Silva

This one is probably #1! They obviously care for and respect each other and a lot of Nozel’s dialogue gets... debatably romantic. I just really enjoy writing them in sort of ‘boys will be boys’ situations, where they can let their guard down around each other and their friends and be stupid and silly. I also love the idea of Fuegoleon being oblivious about how flirty he comes off. Nozel is pining but more in an annoyed way than a sad way. “No homo, bro,” says Fuegoleon, as he kisses Nozel on the lips and gives him a ring after they eat together and wrestle in the woods. Nozel rolls his eyes into the next solar system and admires his new wedding ring. Currently working on a 150k+ word slowburn bisexual disaster Fuegoleon fic with @thespiralgrimoire that involves this ship and the third on this list, along with tiny snippets of others.

Leopold Vermillion x Asta

Leo saw Asta do something cool and said “I’m done being classist. Actually I’m in love with you,” and never looked back. Every single Royal in Asta’s age group being obsessed with him is very very funny. I picture their relationship is much like Nozel and Fuegoleon’s as described above, but they’re BOTH extremely oblivious bros being romantic bros.

Fuegoleon Vermillion x Nebra Silva

Less my fave but still on here bc it’s fun. Nebra is fun, she can push Fuego out of his comfort zone, and also feel comfortable and confident with him. It’s nice. Ngl, anything that gives Nebra a chance to develop her character, whether it be in a friendly or romantic setting, is good.

Nebra is sexy. Fuegoleon is sexy. Together they are super sexy.

Reve x Dorothy Unsworth

I mentioned this briefly earlier, but they finally get someone who can share their world with them! Dorothy was so happy to have Reve in her head, and didn’t even regret being possessed at all. Also, Reve’s chill personality can balance out Dorothy’s excitable and unpredictable one! I think that them both being in dream world, with the magic power to look into each other’s minds(even more than other elf/human cohabitants) means that they can pretty easily become super duper close. They also have a space where they can physically meet. It’s kind of the best of both worlds.

Zara Ideale x Ina’s Father (did he really not get a name???)

There is no way you can convince me that Ina is not Zara and that man’s child. Look at their eyebrows. Rewatch episode 138. You’re lying to me if you tell me you don’t see it.

Nebra Silva x Zora Ideale

🤷🏽‍♀️ Punk and Prep is a fun combo, I like pitch romance, and the more info we get for Nebra, the more likely I see her willing to go vigilante and have a good time working with/ playing around with Zora. They both like to mess with people, Nebra appreciates a job well done, and Zora likes seeing people improve themselves. Nebra would def need to develop a bit for this to work, but I like to believe that would happen.

Backstory: my family moved to england when i was 10. got my hogwarts letter at 11, same family environment. Elder brother had already been attending hogwarts then. I don’t have a lot of friends cause I was always quiet and shy and weird.

Other stuff: I become good friends with Neville regardless of whichever house I will be sorted into (I will get properly sorted when I arrive at Hogwarts) Eventually I also get close to the Weasley Twins and I can tell them apart. I also become close to Percy Weasley because he helps me with my schoolwork when I start falling behind because of my bad mental health. He is a very nice listener and doesn’t invalidate my feelings of being overwhelmed because I am in a lower year so “what do you have to be stressed about freaking first year” and I listen to him rant too sometimes. He is still very pompous and proud and huffy but he is also very brotherly and the overprotective sibling and eventually learns to relax. He becomes a healer instead. (Though he still has a strong interest in politics as he was the one who smuggled me books on politics and made me a raging gay leftist also Perciver is canon)

I am best friends with Sanya and Alexandra (OCs) and also friends with some girls and boys in my house. I am very good friends with Neville and Luna and Ginny. In 4th year, the members of the CPOP group Boy Story join Hogwarts in their respective years and I become good friends with them too. Snape is his sassy self and scary but actually cares for students wellbeing. Severus Snape has a heart and is bisexual. He got over his love for Lily and isn’t a bastard unlike canon snape. Professor Lupin is the best teacher ever and gives us mental health days off. Harry got taken from his relatives when he was 4 and is raised by WolfStar. Neville is confident cause i keep praising him and defend him against bullies, in turn the twins look out for neville too. Also my brother is happy and has good friends and a good partner if he so desires. Eventually a day will come when all of us siblings will be happy and close. My sister has her friends and is happier and in a good state of mental health. She wasn’t for a while but we helped her a lot. She is better now. I am super tight with the weasleys and at some point my siblings and I are lowkey adopted by the weasleys. My brother is super close with Bill and Charlie and moves away to live in the Netherlands. My sister is close to Ginny. Ron and I are god friends too and we play fight a lot. The twins help and sabotage Ron. I get my own sweaters from mrs weasley every year cause I am friends with legit every weasley child at hogwarts.

*d*y* (someone I love a lot and want to protect their privacy) is in the twin’s year. She is friends with them. She is in the house she would’ve been sorted into in this current reality if she had gone to hogwarts. She is a lot happier and finds a purpose and meaning in life eventually. She also pranks with them and Lee Jordan.

I am friends with Draco Malfoy and the silver trio. He is a good person and lowkey abused and we help him through it after he gets disowned by his family.

I have a blurry memory of here i know that i shifted but not strong memories and *d*y* is the strongest memory i have. i am immune to dying in my desired reality. I know how to tie a tie and my fashion sense is amazing. I can style my outfits amazingly well. I am amazing at makeup. I teach myself through tutorials and stuff and I am a natural. I learn how to be confident in myself and love myself and love life through my experience.

Voldemort’s threat is almost non-existent and he never succeeds and there is never a war. Each time horcruxes are destroyed. Adults do it and not endanger kids’ lives.

Universe will fill in the gap for me. I will not miss my cr. I have high pain tolerance. When percy’s mental health gets particularly bad, I tell Oliver and I tell the twins since I am close to them. That’s when the twins really start noticing Perce more and then they notice my health too and their jokes and pranks become sillier and more ridiculous to make us laugh but mindful and don’t hurt anybody. Then when they graduate they make the trio keep an eye on me. Good music with the same vibe as what i like here. I am a good kpop dancer. I will become stronger through my experiences there. Things may not be extremely easy but i will learn and love and live. Also house differences are super chill. Nobody really cares if you sleep over in other houses and be friends with people of other houses. House based prejudices are non existent. I meet *d*y* in year 3. Nobody allows me to diet. We always look out for each other, all of us, even me. I notice someone not eating, i pile food onto their plate. there are lots of vegan options. Animals are humanely treated. Animal abuse is non existent. The house elves are super chill and are very happy when hermione and i try to liberate them. I know how to crochet. I am amazing at crocheting. Mrs weasley and hermione knit and i crochet while also learning how to knit and we make clothes for the house elves. Slavery is non existent. Friends with the trio.Malfoy and I are study buddies too and his silver trio. They are super chill and i look out for them too. Kpop exists as it is and same vibe as the current kpop. I love kpop a lot. And jpop and cpop and tpop. No transphobia and homophobia. If someone even dares we will have them expelled. No prejudices against race, gender, sexuality or anything, people are usually very open-minded and accepting at hogwarts. World problems exist on a very lighter note. Not at all as bad, super duper light. But it gets better every year and we are moving towards the ideal and better and more equal world for everyone. When my mental health gets bad and i find myself throwing my life away, hermione sits with me and studies and helps me and when percy was there he would help me and so does draco and his trio. Xandra and sanya too. Xandra and sanya and everyone else help ground me. I will be much happier, there will be a mental health support system for everybody. We look out for harry when memories from when he was abused come up. I am immune to dying. Periods don’t exist.

On my First Day:

I wake up in the hogwarts express when Hermione wakes me up and tells me to wear my robes. I was sharing a compartment with Neville and Hermione. I am super excited for hogwarts. I feel my apPrOpRiAtE eMotIoNs that one would feel when they’re on the way to a magical boarding school. Also Ron recognizes me because my brother had been friends with Bill and Charlie. I allow the universe to fill in the spaces with nothing but good things and fun learning experiences.

“He is the one?” Can asked and pointed at the guy leaning against a high table with a glass in his hand.

Ai Pete nodded and Can made a turn and tried to escape through the masses of people flowing into the building. A guy broader than him destroyed his plan by just standing there and Can was literally pressed back into Ai Pete’s arms.

“No,” he said and struggled to straighten up. “No, no, no.”

Ai Pete looked at Can in confusion. “Why? What is the problem?”

“He is good looking,” Can hissed. “No, he looks better than just good he… he…” Can was at a loss for words. He had some pretty handsome friends, including Ai Pete, but this was another calibre. It was actually a bit bizarre how good looking this Tin guy was, with his face, and body, and he had that thing going on where he didn’t wear a tie, and the first buttons of his shirt were opened, and you wanted to nuzzle the patch of skin there and…

“No,” Can said again, “I can’t do that, I’m really sorry but-.”

“Hey…. hey, I really don’t understand,” Ai Pete said and put one hand on his shoulder. “Tin is maybe not the easiest person to be around but it’s just for today. He wanted a male date to make a point, he doesn’t need you to cuddle up to him or kiss him.”

“Ai Pete, you know my track-record with handsome guys! I either insult them and they punch me or I fall in love and make a fool out of myself.”

“That literally happened to you twice not a hundred times,” Ai Pete answered with a frown and yeah maybe he was right but Can felt sweat on his hands and his heart raced and he hadn’t even met this guy up close. “If you really feel so uncomfortable we quit it, I don’t want to force you.”

And damn it. Ai Pete and his big eyes and gentle smile and Can knew that even though he wasn’t here with Ae and couldn’t make a statement of his own it meant a lot to him that Can would be part of their charade. Moreover, he thought about the tuition fees he had to pay and Ai Leys wish for a scooter.

“Who are we gonna slap in the face with our gay energy again?”, he asked and squared his shoulders.

“Ai Tin’s brother, P’Tul.”

“Okay… a family feud, the classic. Let’s do this.”

The closer they got to the table Tin waited for them the more Can felt like his suit deformed and made him look like a twelve-year-old trying on the clothes of his father. The sleeves were too long, weren’t they? His tie was crooked and they were crinkles in his shirt. The confidence he had felt hours ago when he had looked at himself in the mirror was down the drain. No one was going to believe him that he was the date of this Tin guy.

“Ai Tin?”

Tin turned around to look at them and his piercing dark eyes wandered from Ai Pete to Can.

“You’re late,” he said and it automatically ruffled Can’s feathers. He opened his mouth but Ai Pete was faster: “Sorry, the traffic, and it was surprisingly difficult to find you. Why are so many people here?”

Tin put his drink on the table and waved his hand: “For publicity reasons, my brother invited the common workers from his latest firm acquisition. I assume you’re Can?”

Can did a wai and felt the chills when Tin’s eyes wandered over his body, from his shoes up to his face. Was this a meat market? Whatever Tin thought about him and his appearance it didn’t show on his face. Why were people out there suppressing their emotions so much? They all died of a stomach ulcer Can was sure of it. It couldn’t be healthy to repress everything.

“I think you will do,” Tin said eventually and Can stared at him.

He would do? HE WOULD DO? He was a fucking snack that’s what he was! The suit was painted on his body, showed off his broad shoulders and his butt was a freaking masterpiece in those pants. He would do?

He deliberately took a step back and looked down to Tin’s shoes and made a point with his wandering eyes. Those legs were long and Can felt a bit of a stir in his stomach. When his once-over ended at Tin’s face he was confronted with a raised eyebrow and something resembling a smirk.

Can narrowed his eyes and said: “You’ll do too, I guess. Tin, right?”

Tin looked to the side for a second and definitely hid a smile that way, he licked his lips (the stir in Can’s stomach intensified), turned his head and did a wai. At least he had manners, Can thought.

“Yes. Thank you for doing this.”

Can just nodded. He knew this was going to be a long, long night.

“I always thought fake-dating only happened in movies,” he murmured and tried to wash the bitter taste in his mouth away with a drink that was too sweet for his tasting.

“There is a lot of fake-dating happening at this event,” Tin murmured back and greeted another acquaintance. It was an endless stream of shaking hands, doing the wai and smiling while lying through your teeth.

“I’m normally not very observant, but even I hear the double meanings in your greetings. Is this normal between you rich people?”

Tin put his hand on his back to move him along and please, could he stop doing that? From the moment they had left Ai Pete to ‘make the rounds’ Tin’s hands had been all over him. Not in a groping kind of way, very subtle, very respectful. It just made Can wish for unrespectful touching. He had known this would end in a disaster. Of course he would find Tin attractive, of course, he would infuriate him, and of course, he wanted to climb him like a tree.

Why was he always attracted to assholes?

“Normal to say Hello and mean I will stab you in the back the next chance I get? Yeah, sure.”

“That is so sad.”

“Don’t worry, I always win.”

Can gaped at Tin and felt the blush reddening his cheeks. “I’m not worried about you!”

Tin exchanged his empty glass with a full one and ignored him.

“Why do you want to rub your bisexuality in your brother’s face again?” Can drank from his glass and grimaced. Still too sweet.

“He fired an employee because she had a committment ceremony with her partner. He used some shady excuse of course but everyone knows why he did it.”

“Where’s your brother again? Did I already meet him?” Can was ready to throw some punches and went on tiptoes to see over the masses. Where was this asshole who was going to feel his rage?

Tin took one of his fists in hand and stroked it lightly with his thumb. Can felt a tight feeling in his throat.

“You already met him. Don’t worry, I recruited the employee. Which was a successful move in two ways.”Can tried to ignore the fluttery feeling in his belly. Tin stroked his skin absently as if he wasn’t even aware he was doing it.

“Two ways?”, Can asked and had to clear his throat.

“It pissed my brother off and his ex-employee had valuable information for me.”

“Why do I have the feeling this family-feud is more thriller than Sunday afternoon family program?”

And why was Tin not just a plain asshole? Why did he had to have layers?

“The next item on the agenda is a concert. From this point on you can go home if you want?” Can looked down at their hands. It occurred to him that the date they just had wasn’t really a textbook fake-date. They stood in a quiet corner again and Can was relatively sure Tin hadn’t greeted or spoken to as many people as he should have. He also had asked a lot of personal question which Can had answered because he had been nervous and had tried to remember the names of all the people who had buttered up to Tin or had tried to hide their murderous intent behind a fake smile.

Was this real flirting or fake flirting?

However, he was really exhausted. He now lived in a world where Tin Medthanan existed and he needed to process that information.

“I would like to go home if that’s alright.” Loud music started to play and Can didn’t hear Tin’s answer. He felt the tingling touch of Tin’s hand on his back and followed his lead out of the crowd.

Outside, he inhaled deep and the heat of Bangkok felt refreshing after the stale air of the celebration hall. He could hear the noise from inside and apart from some smokers, no one was standing in the hallway.

“You’re getting back in?”, Can asked and put his hands in his pockets. He should already stand outside at the street hailing a taxi but he couldn’t.

Tin looked back to where they had come from and shook his head. “I accomplished everything I wanted, now I wait for his move.”

“Doesn’t it get tiring to live that way?”

Tin just smiled and it was a nice smile. It was also nice what he had done for the fired employee. They stood close to each other and Can was eye to eye with the lines of Tin’s collarbone and throat. It was weird… Tin wasn’t that much taller than him but it seemed like it. If he would kiss Tin he wouldn’t have to stand on his tiptoes, but he had the urge to do so.

Tin’s eyes were dark and fathomless. Can had never before noticed the eyes of a guy.

It definitely had been flirting back in there…

Oh, screw it he thought and took the last step to invade Tin’s personal space. Tin just looked as if he had no idea what Can was about to do. Was there a dare in his eyes?

Can kissed him. And Tin just melted against him. Melted as if he had waited for Can to kiss him. Can moaned because fuck that was a heady feeling and he deepened the kiss, hungrily, and wanted to erase any doubt that this was fake. Tin’s arms came around his waist and Can took his head between his hands because he wasn’t done kissing him, not even close.

I’ve been part of the society over the last year, and it’s been one of the best parts of my university experience. I’ve made new friends, increased my self-confidence, and had tons of good gay times! Outside of the society, I enjoy going to gigs, caring for my many houseplants, and taking too many naps. I’m excited for my role on committee this year, although you know what they say about gays and maths! Hello! My name is Bianca and I'm the Welfare Officer of GULGBTQ+. I'm a small twenty-year-old Italian and I am a third year English Language & Linguistics and Theatre Studies student. I spend most of my free time reading, crying over Shakespeare, or bingeing the latest gay shows on Netflix, and the rare times I decide to go outside and try sports I enjoy horse riding and ice skating. Hi everyone! My name's Emily (Tunstall) and this year I'm really excited to be the Events Coordinator for GULGBTQ+! I'm a second year Psychology Student and in my free time I like drawing, painting, making new friends, and spending time with this society. ❤

Hi, I'm Claire, and I'm your women's officer! I'm a third year in Microbiology. Ask me about worms. Sometimes I think I'm not a stereotype but then I remember I have two cats, a Hozier-centric Spotify, and build furniture for a hobby.

Hey, I'm Cassidy (they/them) the new Trans officer! I'm 20 and a third year studying Classics and History. I'm a nonbinary trans woman and I'm here to represent trans people and help people with gender related things generally 🙂

Aside from being gender, I am a roller skating gamer who makes stuffed toys and loves history more than life itself. I'm looking forward to running coffee and having a great year with everyone 🙂

9. Postgraduate and Mature Students: Kyle, He/Him, [email protected]

Hey, hi, hello! I’m Kyle, a postgraduate Astrophysics student who’ll be your first PostMat Officer for this year! Avid Karaoke Fan and Polo R&B Room Resident, I’ll usually be found out and about when I’m not studying (procrastinating). My aim for the time that I’m here is to try and get more LGBTQ+ Postgraduate and Mature students involved with GULGBTQ+.

I haven’t been in Glasgow for very long, so I’m excited to share the experience of things like Glasgow Pride with you all! I’m also hoping to run some smaller gatherings (like the current PostMat Coffees) over the summer for those of us who will need a break from our dissertations. If any PostMat students have ideas to share or any concerns to raise, please don’t be afraid to email.

10. Campaigns: Jo, They/He, [email protected]

Hi, I’m Jo and I’m your Campaigns Officer! I’m a postgraduate research student in English Language & Linguistics with a particular love for all things to do with LGBTQ+ linguistics. I’m a big fan of knitting, baking, indoor bouldering and playing D&D, and I’m also involved with the English Language & Linguistics Society. I was Campaigns Officer the year before last in 2017/2018, but I just couldn’t stay away, and now I’m back for some more campaigning!

As Campaigns Officer, my role is to raise awareness of LGBTQ+ issues in the society, on campus, and in the wider world. In the past, I’ve helped run campaigns to increase awareness of trans people on campus and to encourage local hairdressers and barbers to be inclusive of their LGBTQ+ customers. This year, I hope to revitalise these campaigns and work with our other officers and members of the society to create some exciting new ones!

Hi, I’m Summer and I’m the Communications and Technology Officer for the year! I’m a 5th year computing science student (yes, that kind of transfem!) so you’ll frequently find me programming, tinkering with Linux or providing tech support for someone. When I’m not doing that I’ll probably be knitting, playing video games, running tabletop rpgs or watching martial arts movies (or talking about how I don't have time for any of the above)!

As the recently renamed Communications and Technology officer (formerly Publicity) I'm mostly here for you to tell me why the website or mailing list doesn't work, so feel free to get in touch with any complaints and/or constructive criticisms. Hiya! I’m Jenny and I’m the interim first year representative on the GULGBTQ+ committee. I’m going into second year studying biomedical engineering and in my free time I enjoy drawing, making soup, and loving my gf. I met wonderful friends and made loads of good gay memories through the society in my first year and am excited to help as many freshers as possible join in on the fun this year! I’m passionate about creating a loving and accepting community for all LGBTQ+ students, especially new ones, since I know how hard it can be to settle in. Hi I'm Niamh, you may recognise me as last year's nonbinary officer! I use they/them pronouns, I'm 20 and a 3rd year psychology student. This'll be my 3rd year in the society and I love it with my whole heart. If you have any issues feel free to email me or message me on Facebook (Niamh Conlan). My first and foremost want is for those coming to the society and bi events to feel comfortable and welcomed!

When I'm not being a disaster bisexual I'm dying my hair, applying clown makeup, dancing to new wave or doing kendo. I'm excited to meet you all and hope to have a great year with everyone!

Hi! I’m Judith, I’ve been described as “the lesbianest person I know” by my flatmate and if you ask me where I’m from, I’m likely to name three countries, so I guess it makes sense that I’d be your international officer. I’m a third year psychology and statistics student who likes to avoid studying by going swordfighting (yes, I own an actual sword, but don’t worry, I only use it against transphobes) or putting on facepaint before a metal gig. But don’t get the wrong impression, I’m actually a very quiet person who’s always there to listen or give you advice. Hello! I’m Leilo (they/them), 20, and happy to be the ace/aro officer! My job is to represent people who are (or are questioning if they are) on the spectrums of being aromantic or asexual, so feel free to email me! As ace/aro officer I host biweekly coffees so aros, aces, and those who are questioning, can come together.

I’m a second year Maths student but will probably add philosophy as my second main subject. Aside from sitting over Math problems for way longer than seems necessary, you will find me writing, working out, or philosophising about bdsm.

Salut! I’m Robyn and I’m the Non-Binary Officer. I’m a 2nd Year French/History student and I was born in Glasgow - I’m like a rare pokemon. I only resurrect during Eurovision season and have a hoard of sunglasses. And I’m a massive comic book nerd (yes I am Batman’s sidekick on the side).
