Prompt: You swear you didn’t feel this terrible yesterday. All you had was a bit of congestion and a scratch in your throat. Today, when you woke up, you could barely lift your head off of the pillow due to the congestion in your head. You were sure that you had enough snot to fill a trash can within your two nostrils. All you wanted to do was lay down and rest, but the ding of your phone causes you to lift your head again.
My Love: Do you mind if I come over? I miss you :(
You text her back with what you think is a comprehensible answer, and you rest your head against the pillow.
The next moment you’re awake, your girlfriend is sitting right next to you. So much for self-isolation.
Tumblr media
You're awoken by the soft clink of two needles brushing past each other, and oddly enough, you find serenity in the sound. You've learned to associate the sound with Sakura's presence, and she smiles softly at you as she continues to knit.
“Are you feeling better?”
“A little.” You croak out before trying to sit up.
She stops knitting and places a hand on your chest.
“You need your rest, babe. I'll order takeout or see what I can make in your kitchen.”
You offer a quick smile back to her before she tucks you back into bed.
“A goodnight kiss?” You stick out your bottom lip as Sakura chuckles to herself.
“It's not nighttime, and I'm not kissing you until you feel better. I put one of my homemade blankets on you - it should feel like a warm hug. Hopefully, you can deal with it until you get better.”
You grab the blanket and tug it over you.
“Thanks, Kkura. See you when I wake up.”
“I'll be here when you do.”
She continues her knitting, and you fall asleep to the sound of clinking that you had awoken to.
Tumblr media
A light hand on your shoulder stirs you from your slumber as your eyes snap open.
You cough as you try to take a breath and gather your surroundings.
“Baby, are you okay?” Chaewon hovers over you before grabbing a chair from nearby. “You didn't answer my text, and I got worried.”
“I-” You pause to sneeze. “I'm okay, I promise.”
Her burrows furrow - you were very unsuccessful in hiding your sickness.
“You're not feeling well. Let me run you a bath, and then I can make you some soup. Then we can have some tea, if you're up for it, and then a walk outdoors can help you clear your nose-”
“Chaewon, love, we don't have to do that all right now.” You grab her arm to stop her ranting. “The soup and tea are fine since I don't feel like getting out of bed.”
“Okay, I can do that.” She presses a small kiss to your face before getting up. “I'll be in the kitchen if you need anything, don't be afraid to say something!”
“I won't.” You find yourself smiling after Chaewon leaves the room, and with your spirits lifted, you're sure that you'll feel better in no time.
Tumblr media
“How are you feeling?”
You manage to pull your eyes open as you shake off the sleepiness. When you're conscious enough to face the day (nevermind the cold), your head turns toward Yunjin.
“You didn't have to come, I know you were busy-”
“You send a text that said ‘help me’ with a bunch of random symbols and emojis after it. I was worried that someone had broken into the apartment or that you were in the hospital.”
Her arm grabs yours as you pull yourself out of bed. You gently rub your head as her hand travels to rub your back. In her other hand, she holds a take-out bag with your favorite foods inside of it.
“You were going to fight off my attacker with fast food?” You joke, and she softly laughs.
“I remembered that you were pretty out of it the last time you were sick, so I was hoping that your message wasn't an SOS for emergency services.”
“Good call.” Your stomach rumbles as you stare at the food. “I hope you brought enough for the both of us, I'd feel bad if you were going to just watch me eat.”
“I know that you would want me here with you, plus, it gives me an excuse to see you more.” She winks before handing you the food and grabbing the TV remote. “I just wish it was under better circumstances.”
“Me too, dear,” You sigh before opening the food, “me too.”
Tumblr media
You're awoken by the sound of silence - well, nothing besides the numbing headache in your skull.
As you sit up in bed, a gentle knock beats against your door.
“Come in.” You hoarsely call out before grabbing the water from your night stand.
“Hey, honey, are you ready for company? I can leave if you want, but I wanted to let you know what I brought.” Kazuha peeks her head in after opening the door.
“No, it's alright, you can come in. You didn't have to bring anything, I could've ordered something in.” You try to reassure her as she closes the door behind her.
“I wasn't able to come to see you until later, but I saw your text before dance rehearsal. I called one of your friends to come check on you, and you were fast asleep so they didn't want to bug you. They made you a big pot of soup that I divided up and put into the fridge. They also left some tea bags and a few honey sticks, if you want any of that.” Kazuha explains. “I brought over some of your clothes from my place because I wasn't sure what kind of sickness you were dealing with, but I'm glad it's not vomit.”
You both grimace at the thought as you smile to yourself.
“Do I get a kiss for not puking?”
“No way! I don't want your germs.” She jokes as you sulk.
“Damn, it was worth a try. I'll take the soup, though, if you don't mind getting it for me?” You tilt your head as she sighs and nods.
As Kazuha leaves the room, you wonder how you got so lucky with such a kind, funny, and sweet girlfriend.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, for you, your girlfriend didn't answer or show up at your door. So, you text the next person who will come to see you because the fridge is soo far away and you don't feel like getting up and getting a water.
You're sure that Eunchae breaks a world record as she knocks at your door minutes after you text her.
After letting herself in, she rushes to your side and gives you a big hug.
“Aren't you worried about getting sick?” You ask as she nervously laughs.
“Not really, since I think I had your sickness a bit ago? I hope not, because I felt a lot worse than you sound.” Eunchae gives you a gummy smile before letting you go. “Do you want me to order something? I don't want to dig through your kitchen without your permission.”
“Of course, go ahead. My card's over-”
“I got it!” She cheerily says before digging out your phone. “Don't worry, I'll take care of you.”
You have doubts that everything she will do with you will be helpful to your recovery, but at least you'll feel better. That counts for something, right?

Slow jazz and the strong smell of alcohol surrounded the bar Bucky sat in. He was alone in the booth while Steve chatted away with Peggy. His eyes scanned the bar, searching for someone who might need company. Then his gaze fell on you.
You nervously shuffled through the drab of olive and khaki as you were approached by Bucky. "Hey" he greeted and flashed a charming smile. "What's a lady like you doing in a dump like this?"
"Oh" you were a bit intimidated suddenly being approached by a handsome soldier. "I'm here to meet a friend" you answered. "What's your name?' he asked as he extended his hand. "Y/n" you replied, shaking his hand. "Nice to meet you Sergeant" "Just Bucky" he corrected "you said you were here to meet a friend, right? Maybe I could help you find them"
"They must've forgotten I'm here, with the alcohol and everything" you politely declined, glancing around the dimly lit bar. Bucky took a seat in the booth beside you and gestured you to sit. Since your friend forgot about you, you didn't mind the company.
"So, tell me about yourself, what brings you to Brooklyn in the middle of the war?" He asks curiously. "I came here to attend the Art College" you said with a hint of excitement. "My professor said that my art could lift people's spirits, especially soldiers, so I came here."
"Art, huh?" Bucky says leaning back "That's pretty neat. It's great that you have your own way of contributing in the war" You nod "I'm just trying to help in any way I can." He gets an idea. His blue eyes glint with excitement as he speaks "What do you say to me taking you to explore the city tomorrow? I've got a couple hours before I'm needed back at Base"
"I'd love to" you agree. "It's a date then" he smiles.
The next day, Bucky arrives at your college, wearing a blue jacket and black jeans instead of his usual uniform. You join him outside. "Ready to go?" He offers his arm, with a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.
His smile widens as you nod and take his arm, leading you through the bustling streets. The buildings were old, seeing wars come and go. He points out landmarks, and tells you stories of the past, even managing to coax a few smiles from you. Bucky learns that you paint sceneries, and you learn about his best friend Steve.
Cool evening air blew as you both headed over to the park. The moon hung high above the both of you, a beacon in the night sky. Bucky took a deep breath, his chest expanding underneath the jacket "You know, I used to love looking up at the moon like this" he said, his voice wistful "Back when things were much simpler" He squeezed your hand gently.
"The moon is something special, isn't it? your voice barely a whisper as you looked at the moon. "Back home I'd sit outside and sketch it for hours." You turned to him "Thank you for today Bucky. It's been a long time since I felt so...at ease."
"Your welcome doll" he smiled "It's not every day I get to play tour guide for a pretty lady with a penchant for the stars." You both took a seat on a nearby bench, his grip on your hand still firm, yet comforting.
"You're a good person Y/n" Bucky states quietly with a mix of affection and respect "Coming all this way to do your part. Your art will mean a lot to us out there" His thumb brushes against your knuckles. "Thanks Bucky" there's a rustle of leaves and a distant murmur of the city as you continued "You're pretty special yourself. And you're fighting for all of us, I can't imagine how hard that must be." you squeezed his hand back, as a silent acknowledgement of his bravery.
He leaned back against the bench, his arm brushing against yours "I'm just doing what I have to" He looks at you with affection and something else you can't figure out "But spending time with you, that's something I'm doing 'cause I want to.
~~~
As the weeks passed by, you and Bucky got closer, and you found yourself sitting in the art classroom. You weren't really paying attention to the instructor as your thoughts drifted to Bucky. His charm and kindness leaving a mark on your heart.
Bucky too, found himself lost in thought. His mind wandering to the quiet moments he shared with you during the chaos of the war. He'd catch himself smiling at the memory of your laugh, the way you tilted your head while concentrating on a painting. His feelings for you had grown each passing day and he knew that he had to say something before he had to leave to fight. Bucky knew he wouldn't let this war take you away from him.
So, one night he managed to sneak out of the Base for a couple hours, the stars twinkling in the sky as he made his way to the College. His heart raced as he entered the building and neared your classroom. "Y/n?"
Your heart fluttered as you heard Bucky's voice. You looked up from the easel, joy flooding through you as you saw his silhouette in the doorway. "Bucky" your voice was a mixture of surprise and delight as you walked over to him. "Come in. Its good to see you"
The room was dimly lit with the faint scent of oil paints lingering in the air. "Doll" he said, his voice filled with emotion "I've been thinking about you a lot" he takes a step closer, his hand reaching out to rest on your cheek "I know this isn't the right place or time, but I had to tell you this" He took a deep beath before continuing "You mean a lot to me, and made me feel things I haven't felt in years. And it just feels right with you." His other hand finds yours. "I'm falling for you doll"
You felt a warmth spread through your body as you take in Bucky's confession. You stepped closer to him, placing your free hand on his chest. "Bucky" you whisper "You don't know how much that means to me" you were close enough to take in the scent of the cologne "The war has taken so much from people, but you've given me a reason to keep fighting." your voice trembled slightly "And I've fallen for you too"
Bucky cupped your face in both hands "You have no idea how much I needed to hear that" he leaned in and his lips met yours in a soft and gentle kiss. His hands stayed on your cheeks as you both pulled away. "I won't leave before seeing you, that's a promise doll." He murmured.
"Do you want to take a walk?" you whispered, desperately wanting to spend as much time as possible before he had to go. "That's all I want to do doll" his voice has a tinge of reluctance as he continues "But I have to get back to Base." He took your hand and kissed the back of it. "I will come back to you."
~~~
A few days later a knock on your dorm door interrupted you from your painting. You opened the door and your stomach flipped as you saw Bucky on the other side. Before you could say anything, he stepped closer and kissed you, his soft lips moving against yours before pulling away.
"Sorry" he smirked "Couldn't resist" He handed you flowers which were hidden behind his back. "Thank you Bucky" you smiled "How did you know sunflowers were my favorite? "I noticed how you added little sunflowers in the corners of your paintings" he replied as he entered the dorm. "Figured they're your favorite"
"They are" you said as you put them in a makeshift vase. "So what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be preparing to head out? you asked him as you turned around. "I promised to see you before I go didn't I?" "And I managed to take a day off, so I'm all yours"
"Fantastic" you said happily as you pulled him further into the dorm and closer to you. He wrapped his arms around you in a warm embrace. "Let's just...be" you mumbled into his chest "No war, no leaving. just us" He hums in agreement as he buries his face into your hair, taking in the scent of paints.
"What do you want to do?" he asks, his arms still wrapped around you. "I don't know" you thought for a moment. "Any ideas?"
"Doll" he paused as he glanced at the canvas. "Do you want to paint together?" you look up at him "You want to paint with me?" "Yeah" he confirms.
You lead him to an empty canvas. "But remember, I'm no Van Gogh or anything" His smile tinged with mischief. "My talents are better suited for other things"
"Don't worry, I'll teach you the basics" you reassured, feeling flustered. "What do you want to paint?" He glances around for a moment and sees the vase "Sunflowers?" you huffed a laugh "Very original. But it'll do"
You open the paints and hand him a paint brush. "How about you paint the sunflowers and I do the background?" He nods "You're in charge doll, I'll do my best." He dips the brush into the paint, his hand trembling slightly.
"Just relax Bucky" you say soothingly "Imagine sunflowers, growing wild and free, let that feeling guide your strokes" "Wild and free, huh?" he teases as he begins to paint.
The brush moves clumsily at first, but under your guidance, the petals start to take shape. "You're doing great" you encourage, hand hovering over his, ready to help if needed.
"You know" Bucky's voice is low and thoughtful as he adds a little brown to the brush "I think I know what I want to do after the war's over" "What is it?"
"I want to settle down, maybe find a little place with a garden" he says, painting the sunflower's center carefully. "You can teach me more about art, and I'll grow those sunflowers for you, just like in your paintings."
"Really?" you choke out. "Yeah doll, somewhere quiet, just you and me." his voice is filled with hope and the brush strokes becoming more and more confident with each word.
Bucky's hand brushes against yours as you join him and work side by side, your eyes meeting every now and then. "I never thought I'd have something like this in the middle of the war" you murmur as you work on the night sky.
"Me neither doll, but you're the best surprise I've ever had" He adds the final details on the sunflowers. "That looks really good Bucky" you praise, impressed at the shades he'd tried to capture.
"Thanks doll, couldn't have done it without you" He leans over, kissing your cheek softly. He shifts and sits behind you, wrapping his arms around your waist and resting his chin on your shoulder as you completed the starry night.
"You've got a real knack for this doll" his voice is a rumble, his breath warm against your ear. "It's like watching you dance, but with paint" "At least I'm good at one thing"
he laughs "At one thing? You're more than just good at painting, you're the most amazing person I've ever met" His arms tighten around you and his cheek presses against yours. "Don't ever forget that"
You swallow a lump in your throat. "Thanks Bucky" "Don't thank me doll, it's just the truth" His eyes take in the completed painting as you put down the paintbrush. "It's beautiful" He whispers, full of admiration and awe.
Bucky's bright yellow sunflowers standing tall in the black and blue night of yours provided a nice contrast. It's more than just a painting, it was an expression of love.
"I'm so happy I met you" you admit to Bucky in a low voice. "You're more than happy doll" he nuzzled into the side of your neck "you're my whole world" he presses a gentle kiss "And that's something no war can take away from me.
~~~~~~
It's been 2 months since Bucky left to fight in the war. There's been radio silence, with little to no updates about what's going on. But you think about Bucky every day, missing him and the quiet moments you had shared in the limited time together.
You painted him often, trying to capture his charming smile and his uniform as accurately as you could. You missed his touch, kisses and wanted to hear him call you doll again. You believed with all your heart that he will come back. If there's one thing you've learned from Bucky, it's to never lose hope.
You woke up next morning, hearing loud noises and lots of laughter. You opened the window to see kids running down the cobblestone path yelling "WE WON!" "THE WAR'S OVER" Newspapers said the same thing.
It doesn't take long for you to grab your bag and coat and practically sprint to the station. A crowd of people had already gathered, waiting anxiously for their loved ones to come home to them. After what seems like ages the train finally arrives.
A lot of soldiers file out, but none of them were him. Where is he? Why isn't he here? what happened to-
"Y/N!" your head snaps up to the direction of the voice and relief floods through you as you and Bucky make eye contact. He strides towards you, his steps swift as he dodges through the throngs of people.
His eyes never leave yours as he scoops you up into his arms, spinning you around "You're here" his voice is gruff but filled with joy "I missed you so much doll"
You laugh with tears in your eyes "I've missed you too Bucky, so so much" "Let's get outta here" he says, setting you down gently. "I've got something to show you"
He leads you out of the crowded station and into the nearby woods, following a yellow dirt path until you both reach an opening. It's a small field with sunflowers and a cozy looking cottage in the middle of it.
"Bucky" you gasp "How did you find this?" He grins "I wanted to take a walk before leaving and found it on complete accident. But the moment I saw it, I knew it was perfect for us. So, I convinced the owner to sell it to me.
You glanced at the turquoise roof and white bricks of the cottage before looking back at Bucky.
"So, what do you say doll? Do you want to- " You pulled his face closer and crashed your lips to his.
"Doll I didn't even finish" he laughed as you both pulled away. "Yes I would love to live here with you" you breathed out. Bucky pulled you flush against his chest. "To new beginnings?" You nodded as you got lost in the depths of his sea blue eyes.
"To new beginnings"
Almost S.V#5
Sebastian Vettel X red bull!engineer!reader
Words count : 2.7k
Synopsis :
" I'm almost me again , she was almost you"
Warnings : grammar, not proof read nor edited.
Tumblr media
Another race day ending with a joyous celebration , the team's high spirit created an uplifting atmosphere as they all wandered around in and out of the garage at the end of the day .
The pit crew along with some of the engineers opted to stay out after celebrating yet another podium with Max leading the championship, the rest staying back to pack what's meant to be moved tonight and the rest is left for tomorrow , the Head engineer who stayed back along with technicians , and max who gave a quick preifing before he was whisked away for some interviews and the post-race conference are all revising today's data's making quick notes and packaging everything for later assessment .
Finishing up you turned to review everything one more time just to make sure everything is saved accordingly , satisfied with the work you packed your things ready to head out , collecting the freshly printed reports all tucked safely in your backpack . Looking down as you were about to head out , you found a little girl not older than 5 as she estimated holding hand of who seemed to be her little brother , around two years old , both looking awfully familiar , with wild blonde hair and Peircing pairs of eyes curiously taking in the buzzing engineers as they worked on the cars standing close to you .
Looking around you assumed they're either lost or wandered away from their parents as she found no one around beside her team , so you approached but not too close to startle them leaning down with a gentle smile " hello" both turned to you , the boy shuffled behind his sister who stepped up giving a wide confident grin " hi , I'm Lilly" sticking her hand out for a handshake "and this is Matthew" before turning her head to her brother whispering something that he nod at before he gave you a small greeting "hi" that got him a wide smile back "hello Lilly and Matthew, I'm Y/N , it's nice to meet you two . but what are you two doing here all alone ?" The girl shook her head and her brother did too pointing outside " papa , out there " his sister added " we're not alone , our papa is outside . We wanted to see the cars! " You gave them knowing look before asking "do you like them ?" They both nod enthusiastically "they're so so super fast!" giving them a wide grin "well , I'm glad you like them , I made them with my friends to go super super fast " both looked at you as if you told them you're Santa in the flesh, asking in awe "you made them!? " , " mhmmm" you hummed back "really?" , "Really , really" that got the little girl to ask you seriously "can you make me one too, please?" Giving her best puppy eyes for better effect, " I need a fast one like this so I can win when I go racing next year!" You gave it a thought for a moment before coming with an idea " how about I show you something first ?" The girl nod her head and took the hand you offered to her and her brother held her other hand all getting to the parked car , you moved closer while greeting a couple of passing by colleagues then turning to the little ones asking them " you want to sit inside?" With a nod she held up her arms being lifted to sit down inside the cockpit her small body was swallowed by the bulk of the machine , adjusting to perk her head up to look at you beside the car , her brother stepped up lifting his arms up demanding to be lifted too "up !" giving him a smile before picking him up hight earning a full belly laugh at the rush before settling him beside his sister who gladly made room for him to sit .
"So , what do you think? " They both gave an exited grins , Matthew raised his hands exclaiming happily" it's a big car!!" his sister nods with the same exited grin " it's soo coooool!" Before contemplating something and adding with a slight pout "but it's too big ! , I can't race in it , I can't see !, I won't be able to pass others in it!" , you hummed in agreement " yeah it's big because it goes on big tracks and race against other big cars it won't be good in small tracks " lilly nods in disappointment , you gave it a minute before exclaiming as you suggested " how about we make a few changes?" That got her attention as she asked hopefully "we can ?" . You affirmed in a very serious manner "of course we can , now who's up for making a new super fast race car " both exclaimed at that .
You all sat down in the corner away from the still working team , hunched over a big sheet on the ground , the kids sitting on both sides leaning into you all too focused on the task at hand pointing out details every now and then as they watched your quick and calculated lines as you sketched out the plan of what would be a go cart , soft music playing in the background causing you three to sway your heads and humm occasionally along the tunes playing out .
Not long after they were adding the finishing touches , looking content with the final product , a pair of footsteps approached before stopping before them , looking up you were greeted with a very amused Christian along with a disappointed Sebastian who had his arms crossed giving both of his kids a scolding look as they both tried to act innocent as if they didn't run off causing him to lose his mind . " now what do we have here?" Asked Christian looking between the three accomplices before him .
You sat back a torment going between you heart and mind , now it clicks to you why they looked so awfully familiar, the same wild hair , brilliant blue eyes that mirrored his , the confident yet polite attitude that they definitely got from him , now as he stood before you locking eyes with his that you dearly loved and missed , it took a minutes for all your walls to crumble again , and in an attempt to salvage what's left of your will , you turned to the kids giving them a smile as you still sat between them " alright now, what do we think?" They both gave you their approval before they turned to their father chatting his ears off as they dragged him to sit on the floor right beside you , both of you are hyper aware of how close you are , he relaxed while taking a look at their work as he nods along to their explanation , taking in the colors and scrambled writing on the sides topped with a bee drawn on the car's hood smiling fondly at your handwritten notes and instructions on the side , each note accompanied with a small bear or a flower that he knows was Lilly's idea .
Giving his praises and showing Christian next , letting them drive their attention to him explaining thoroughly each part and each scrap, he turned to you trying to get a better look only finding you looking away , your hair covering your face as you actively ignored his burning eyes . You went to stand but Christian beats you when he said in a thoughtful voice " that's a really good design looks like a winning cat to me ! , but it's missing something, what do you think kids ? " Both kids eyes lights up as Lilly asked " stickers?" Matthew nods rapidly as he pointed to the parked car not far away , Christian chuckled holding his hands out for them as they followed him eagerly " C'mon , that car won't be as nice without some good stickers, and I know we have them somewhere around here" they left but not before he gave Sebastian a subtle but pointed look before they turned the corner.
He took a deep breath before he turned to you , "hi" he tried to break the tense silence, you gave a quick glance at his direction with a curt nod " hello Sebastian" he winced at his full name but kept a brave face " how have you been?" You trained her eyes on the paper before you still avoiding his eyes " I've been alright" he nods and went on to speak but get cut off before he could utter any other word " just don't" you shook your head moving to collect the markers and pens scattered around them . But he wasn't backing down " please , Y/N . You can't keep on avoiding me like this , running away won't....." You paused your task asking him in furious voice " I'm the one ignoring you? " He shut his eyes in regret knowing that he messed up his chance with his choice of word's as you looked beyond pissed "Sebastian you cut me off the moment you signed the damned Ferrari contract! , That , let me remind you YOU didn't even tell me about or or about that you were leaving in the first place , and now when you have the guts to come around , you start with this!?" He tried to reach for your clenched hands but you backed away "I'm sorry" you scoffed " no Sebastian, you, don't get to be sorry " you turned to the work station throwing what you've collected into the holder before turning again in frustration "And for what exactly ? For leaving? For cutting me off ? For breaking your promises? for what Sebastian?" He stood too watching with defeat how you went on picking the papers and putting aside the kids work , trying to muster any courage he have left " I know that sorry won't ever be enough " you agreed " then don't bother with those empty words when you know they won't change anything " you stood in silence with your back facing him not seeing the hurt in his eyes as they stung as he took in you hunched shoulders and shaking hands " at least look at me " his voice more hoarse now and thick with defeat , you shook your head refusing to turn " I can't, you're not him anymore" your words gripped his heart throwing his hopes with the wind , but he didn't have the time to come with anything to salvage what's left as the kids came back each holding a sheet of stickers and some were on their cheeks as they returned to them with Christian not far behind , one look let him know how it went and he sighed heavily before approaching them .
The kids eagerly showed their bright stickers and handed them to their dad with Lilly asking him to boost her up to reach the work station to put the final touches, he Obliged sitting her up and before he could turn to do the same with Matthew the boy went up to you raising both his arms up for you with a wide smile " up , up!" You gave him a small smile picking him again with another boost up causing him to let a small giggle, sitting him beside his sister attempting to distract yourself by asking him quietly where he'd like to put his stickers , helping him carefully peel them and pressing them down where he placed them after looking each time for your approval of the placement .
the last thing you did was placing three more stickers on the side each have your names written beside it , Matthew picked a small car sticker after insisting on it , leaving lilly to pick a trophy with a star on the other side of her name and you chose a small wrench sticker each scraping your names and helping Matthew tracing his before you looked at it in accomplishment.
You rolled the design carefully looking for a sheet holder and you found a cardboard holder laying to the side , securing the lid and taking a marker from the table, you wrote on the lid and on the side then handed it out to lilly " here you go , now you have the right size to go out and pass everyone with no trouble " she took it eagerly holding it with both hands and showing a wide grip with a missing tooth as she thanked you purposefully.
You gave her a genuine smile happy that you could help . Before turning around picking your bag deciding it's time to go . You turned to them as they were watching you with curious eyes and Seb with longing ones that you ignored " alright people, it's time for me to head out " you approached the kids with your hand out for a shake " it's nice to meet you Lilly , I wish you all the best with your car " but the girl shook her head opening her arms for a hug instead " thank you miss. Y/N " you patted her back gently " you're very welcome lilly" turning to Matthew as he too reached out " and you too Matthew " you gave him a peck on the cheek causing him to hide his face as it turned red . giving them one last wave as you turned , moving in steady step towards the door and around the corner but you heard Sebastian call for you to wait . You tried to ignoring him but he moved fast to stand before you , yet you still refused to look at him " what do you want from me now ?" .
He looked at you with determination " to scream at me ! Blame me ! Yell at me for everything! But at least look at me again" . You stepped back at his burst before asking him " why did you came back ?" He took it as a win so he answered honestly " I'm almost me again, I'm almost back to my old self " you finally looked at his eyes but yours held nothing but sadness and unshed tears , you gave him a small smile " tell me Ian why did you left me , why did you break your promise?" He couldn't avert his eyes even when they stung from looking at your once again broken self because of him , he took a shaky breath " because I thought she was almost you" you gave him one last nod , leaving him standing in the empty hallway lost in years of pain and regret watching you walk away before turning to disappear around the corner and out of his sight .
Composing himself he went back to the garage, back to his kids and Christian who gave him a comforting pat on the back knowing it won't be easy to try to mend what he left behind for the life he had now . After a moment he turn to take something from behind the work station " it's only fitting for you to have this " handing him a black sheet holder with his name and number engraved on the lid , and on the side it has a small engravings that read " THE LAST LAP" causing his heart to sink even more knowing she kept the promise he made and failed to honour . Looking at his former principal with lost eyes waiting for him to say it was just a cold joke , but that didn't happen as he hod in confirmation , " she came to me and Adrian right after you left , gave a prototype and upgraded it each season in hopes you'd come back . It's just as fast if not more than the RB-19 " he looked back at the parked care before adding " you know , Last year she was ready to sign away her rights in every design she made if we were able to sign you for one last season , but you announced your retirement and rejected our contract , so no one touched it after her final upgrade last march , so it's better with you than anyone else . It's yours after all " they looked down at the holder both with different heavy minds . But the elder gave him a knowing smile " you know you can't just let her go this time too , it won't worth the hurt she went through the first time and she won't be able to handle it again . It's in your hands to choose her this time around instead of neglecting her for a perhaps " .
He moved with a new drive , determined that he Owned it her to at least fight to get her trust back , and if that promise meant something for her to keep then it meant everything for him to try .
“You shouldn’t have to work on your birthday,” Frankie reasoned as he watched you weave through the bedroom while he sat out of the way on the bed. You were collecting your items before you left. “It should be illegal.”
His attempt at a light-hearted joke made you give him a weak, tight-lipped smile.
“I know.” You whisper, a certain sadness aching in your chest. The last thing you wanted to do on your special day was work. You had requested off, but management denied it for one reason or the other.
This was your first birthday with your boyfriend, Frankie. He seemed even more excited than you did. And all the more disappointed when you told him you wouldn’t be able to spend the day with him like you had originally planned.
“I’ll be home before you know it. Then we can do something together.” You try to put on your best face, gently cupping Frankie’s cheek as you angle his face upwards to face you. Your fingers brush against dark stubble, admiring his chocolate puppy dog eyes. You like the little wrinkles around his eyes.
Frankie sighed but ultimately nodded. He stood up from the bed, a hand locked on your hip. He tilted up his hat brim with his opposite hand and leaned down to press his lips against yours. Your stomach rushes with butterflies, letting his happiness consume you and jumpstarting your mood for the day.
“Okay, okay,” you murmur against his lips despite feeling his hands wander a bit to keep you close. You throw back your head and laugh as his lips sputter kisses down your cheek and neck, his hands feeling more like they were tickling you rather than holding you now. “Okay! Okay, I have to go.”
Frankie’s smile is still there, warm and tender, but he straightens up and loosens his hold on you.
“We’ll do something tonight. Promise.” He resolves with a tight nod, and you agree.
“Tonight.”
One more goodbye kiss, and you’re scurrying to your car, cursing Frankie for nearly making you late.
---
“What on Earth are you doing here?”
Your smile is wide as you exit the back door of your work to see Frankie in his vintage red Chevrolet Corvet.
“I thought you put the Corvet away since summer was over?” You asked excitedly, gently extending your fingers out to glide along the cherry paint.
Frankie merely shrugs, donning his casual aviators and baseball cap. He was wearing an old hoodie, seeing him squint behind his sunglasses.
“I did,” Frankie lightly grunts as he reaches across the center console and unlocks your door, thrusting it open wide for you to slip in. “But today’s a special occasion. Now get in.” He grins.
It’s hard to conceal your smile as you throw your belongings in the back and settle into his passenger seat.
“But today,” you emphasize, “is almost over. And it’s October. Where exactly are we cruising to this late in the day?” You ask, observing the open section of the roof.
Frankie smirks as he hands you a blanket to cover your lap and pats your leg gently before readjusting his aviators. “Let’s ride, baby.”
---
The car drives along the coast, and he was right to give you a blanket. Despite getting warmer temperatures compared to the rest of the country, being by the water caught colder temperatures.
You watch as you wind down the rocky hills from above, eyeing the brilliant blue water as the sunset creates ripples of orange and purple across the soon navy sky. Your troubles of earlier today feel melted away. Frankie squeezes the hold he has on your hand.
After parking and finding a secluded spot on the beach, Frankie retrieved a cooler from the trunk and walked with you through the sandy landscape. It was beautiful, breathtaking, a bit chilly, but nothing you couldn’t handle. You secured the blanket around your shoulders, watching him pile a few logs together and start a little bonfire.
You playfully applauded, and Frankie bowed graciously at your praise.
“Thank you, thank you very much. I was a boy scout.”
Frankie wound down beside you, groaning softly before popping open the cooler. He offers you a drink, then finds a beer for himself. The fire blazes orange and sparks a few stray ashes into the air.
He feels you lean into his arm, wanting you even closer as he lifts it to wrap around your shoulders and snuggle you into his side.
He smells your shampoo and lingering perfume from this morning. He holds your hand over your lap and gently caresses his thumb along the extent of your palm. He shyly glances down, seeing your beautiful features highlighted by the flickering flames. You’re warm, body and soul. You bring Frankie a sense of ease and comfort. A place to call home, a reason to put his guard down.
“Wait, what’s this?” Frankie asks as he burrows through his cooler, pulling out supplies for smore’s.
You giggle and enthusiastically reach for the chocolate, humming as you bust open the plastic packaging while Frankie opens the rest of the supplies.
The two of you hunt for sticks, ones long enough to roast marshmallows.
“Oh, babe, this one is fuckin’ perfect, look.”
You giggle that he’s so excited. “You’re a champ, that’s a beautiful stick, baby.”
He aids you in clamping squared-off graham crackers and a pad of chocolate around your golden brown marshmallow, cooing in excitement as he hands you the finished masterpiece that was your s’more.
The two of you toast and casually discuss what’s next for you and what this new year of yours will bring. He thinks of good luck, safety, and love.
You stay for as long as you can, but it is October, and it is especially chilly by the water. But this night meant so much for you, especially to have Frankie go out of his way and drive miles and miles out of town to take you to the water, where you felt the most free and liberated.
Frankie smothers the fire with his boot, and you make your trek back up to the car. He tells you to wait in the car with your blanket while he loads everything else, to which you don’t fight him. He secures the roof over the car and smiles at your playful chattering teeth.
He can’t stop thinking about warming you up. He tries to distract himself the rest of the ride by singing to music with you or letting you tell him about your day, but he can’t stop thinking about your body, the warmth he could bring just with his hand alone.
“Frankie?” You ask cautiously, clasping his hand that was now clamped onto your thigh. “What’s going on in that big brain of yours, huh?”
He takes in a deep breath through his nostrils and turns to you, puppy dog eyes, desperate for something. But what?
“You cold?” He asks, to which your eyebrows furrow.
“Well, yeah.” You finally whisper, feeling his hands snake higher to the button on your jeans. You weren’t exactly easy to access right now, but god, you wish you were.
“Push’em down, baby. Put the blanket over you.”
His voice is authoritative enough that you listen. You push down your jeans past your thighs, securing the blanket over yourself in case any wandering eyes from passing cars caught Frankie’s hand down your pants.
Your stomach twists as he slips past the blanket. You whimper, his hand is only slightly cold as you shakily breathe through it, looking forward.
“That’s it, princess, keep lookin’ at the road.” He hums. He’s got one hand tight on the steering wheel, the other coasting down the front of your panties. Somehow, he’s more focused now that he’s able to take care of what he’s been thinking about.
Your hand tightens around his wrist and urge him on, causing a playful laugh out of him. “So fuckin’ pretty when you need me, princess.”
God, he would be the death of you.
Frankie’s fingers work over your panties, tracing your seam before he nudges the underwear in his way aside. You bite down on your lower lip and look over at him. How fucking handsome he was, how lucky you were to have him as yours. How he thought the same for you.
His eyes catch yours, and you hastily nod. He turns back to the road and slowly coats his fingers with your slick, moaning quietly as your eyes flutter in bliss. He does a tight circle around your clit before moving downwards to your entrance. It’s like he’s mapping the well-known terrain, finding what’s making you tick tonight.
“Had such a long day at work today, Frankie, please. Take care of me.” You whisper.
Hearing you beg isn’t Frankie’s goal. It’s your birthday, and he would do just about anything you asked right about now. You had him wrapped around your pretty little finger, that was for sure.
You were soaked, begging for release, begging for Frankie to take care of you. He promised he always would. You were his girl. He couldn’t take not being inside you, but his fingers would suffice until the two of you were home.
Frankie listens to your symphony of whimpers as his first two fingers notch into your entrance, feeling you shift in your seat and spread your legs wider under the protection of the blanket to allow him full access to your sex. He sinks them deeper, and the stretch is intense but pleasurable.
You whimper his name, and it’s his kryptonite. “C’mon, baby, lemme hear how good it feels.”
His fingers bury themselves in you, knuckles brushing your sweet folds as his fingers curl.
You throw your head back in satisfaction, jaw dropped, eyes wide as he hits a certain nerve inside you, one that is screaming to be touched.
“Fuck,” you breathily exert, your breasts distracting Frankie as you arch your back lightly in your seat. “Feels like heaven, Frankie, oh shit,” you cry out, making him smirk.
If he wasn’t fucking driving right now, he’d take you in his arms, spread your legs, and bury himself between your thighs for days, needing nothing more than the taste of your cum on his tongue.
But he was driving, and you were beside him, falling into his bicep and cradling your face into his arm for protection.
“That’s it, baby, feel how good those fucking fingers feel inside you?”
You can barely push up an answer, just a weak nod as you still clamp your hand tightly around his wrist.
Frankie starts a decent rhythm with his fingers, in and out, curling and massaging the sensitive walls that love whatever he’s doing. A coil starts to wind inside you, begging for release. Your legs begin to shake and twitch, moaning his name softly as he continues to make you feel good.
“M’not gonna last much longer- fuck,” you force out breathily, arching your back and falling into Frankie’s arm as your head lays lifelessly on his shoulder. You can feel his smirk pressed to the crown of your head.
“Can feel you tensing around me, princess, let go.”
You whimper, but his words push you over the edge. It feels like scrabbling at the end of a cliff, damn near falling, feeling your orgasm crash through you helplessly. Frankie’s foot lays heavy on the pedal as you squeeze desperately around his fingers, feeling him continue his pace until you’ve leaked all the cum you can onto his fingers. He barely even touched your clit, and you were folding for him.
You’re breathless, weakly moaning and whispering his name and other profanities mixed in there, too.
“Jesus Christ,” you say once you’ve pushed yourself back into your seat, and he’s pulled his fingers from you.
“I prefer Frankie.” He teases.
He locks eyes with you as he does a long lick up his first two digits, properly licking them clean. It makes another intense coil twist inside you.
“Don’t worry. You can have everything else once we get home. To properly celebrate your birthday.”
You shyly smile and nod, pulling his hand into your lap and squeezing it tightly.
“I don’t even care that I had to work today. At least I get to spend tonight with you.”
Frankie quips up a smile and squeezes your hand under the blanket. “I’m the lucky one. Happy birthday, princess.”
---
happy 24th birthday, kry! thank you for such a kind message. I know you had to work today, but I hope you have a great year filled with lots of love, great friendships, and kindness <3
Tumblr media
It's been a tough day. Scratch that, it's been a tough few weeks. My depression seems to be creeping back in, and it's hitting harder this time. I think it's tied to this relentless existential crisis that's been gnawing at me. The feeling of purposelessness, of not knowing where I fit in this vast universe, it's suffocating.
Today was particularly hard. I tried everything I could think of to lift my spirits. I watched episodes of HIMYM, hoping the humor would distract me, but it felt hollow. I listened to my favorite songs on YouTube, hoping their music would soothe me, but the lyrics seemed meaningless. I even reached out to my friends, hoping their presence would bring me comfort, but the conversations felt strained and distant.
And then there's this guy. He used to be a close friend, someone I hung out with often. But things changed, life moved on, and we drifted apart. Yet, suddenly, he's back in my mind. It's like every little thing I do reminds me of him. It's funny how memories can resurface so vividly, even when you're desperately trying to escape your own thoughts.
I feel like I'm trapped in this cycle of sadness and nostalgia, with no clear way out. It's exhausting. I wish I knew how to shake off this heaviness that's settled over me like a dense fog. I wish I could find some peace, some clarity amidst all this confusion.
I don't know what else to do, Tumblr. I'm trying to take care of myself, trying to find moments of solace wherever I can. But it feels like I'm fighting an uphill battle, and today, I'm not sure if I have the strength to keep going.
Tomorrow is another day, they say. Maybe tomorrow will bring some relief. I can only hope.
Closing Time
Who: Stevie Evans and Delilah James When: June 9, 2024 Where: 'Sip N' Time's Cafe Triggers: none Notes: Stevie talks to Delilah about his crush... 🙈
Stevie -Stevie went through the closing checklist. This is out of habit than actually using it. He tosses down a series of check marks and only had to sweep and mop before calling it a night. He lifted the receiver and pressed the conference button as a means to speak to Delilah over the store speaker instead of dialing her in the store’s office. “Hey boss. All I have left is the cafe sweep and mop. I should be done and ready to go in 20 minutes.” His finger removed from the button and Stevie grabbed the broom and dust pan and set to work moving chairs and tables to give the cafe a good sweep.
Delilah - The store had been closed for the last twenty minutes, and while Stevie cleaned up, Delilah went to go count the money in the back office. They'd surpassed last years earnings, and the year before that. Every time she used the green highlighter it made her surge with pride. Her little store was doing well thanks to all those that worked there. She'd just finished up doing the daily count when she heard Stevies voice over the PA system. A chuckle tumbled past her lips and Delilah got up, exiting the office. "Youve not got to stay, love" she yelled, wandering through the store to find him. " You can go home, I'll finish the clean up. You've done more than enough for today."
Stevie -With a song playing through a wireless bud, Stevie did quick work with the broom. He hum sang an old 50s song when Delilah’s voice barely pushed through the song’s instrumental break. “It’s fine. Truly. I want to make sure tomorrow’s opener has a clean cafe. Besides, this is a part of my work duties, boss.” He said with a charming smile. Stevie paused the music as it was rude to keep it going while they spoke. He returned to sweeping. “How’d the store do today?” He casually questioned, partly because he was proud of this place and wanted it to succeed. He sees firsthand the amount of work Delilah puts into it.
Delilah - "I know it's part of your work duties, but I can clean up." She replied, grabbing the dust pan and a hand broom, picking up what Stevie had begun to clean up. "We did really well, we made $800 more than last year. I'm quite proud - hence me trying to get you off early" she replied with a chuckle, glancing up at him. "Everything ok for you today?"
Stevie - They worked together, which came easy as it’s not their first time closing shop. Stevie went to get the mop bucket and set to work in the far corner. “That’s amazing, Delilah! Do you think that boost is from the Founder’s Day boost? I overheard several people raving about the pastries, especially the chocolate chip cookies.” He spoke and mopped in unison. “Remember that one woman who orders the dirty chai with a pump of mocha? I hadn’t seen her in a month. She surprised me this afternoon and said she’s been away taking care of her sister. She has left a big house in her late grandfather’s will and went to help move. Can you believe that? It sucks she lost her grandfather, but now I have this image of an old Victorian house filled with spirits and secret passages.” He said, reaching where Delilah was with the broom. Stevie eyed her for a quiet moment and then smiled, shaking his head slowly. “I was just thinking…” he started, then changed his mind. “It’s probably best I don’t bring this up while I’m technically on the clock.”
Delilah - She considered his question for a moment and shrugged, "Anything's likely at this point. I reckon the booth helped a bit, but our hard work has helped immensely." She replied, focusing on cleaning up the floor as best she could. Delilah listened to Stevie speak. She remembered the patron he was talking about, and pursed get lips. "Next time she's in we best be sure to give her a free coffee. I might ask for pictures of the place though, I've always been partial to a Victorian." She myself with a chuckle, dumping the collection of dirt in a waste bin before looking at Stevie, a brow arched, "Well, now you've got to say it. You can't just begin saying something only to stop!"
Stevie - True, it can be an amalgamation of reasons. Whatever it may be, it brought a smile to his boss’s features, something Stevie enjoyed. “If you’re in, I’ll tell you, but I’ll make sure she gets that freebie no matter what. Can’t have you miss out on that Victorian.” Stevie stuck his foot in this mouth and wished he could return that minute. Delilah’s eyes on him caused Stevie to falter momentarily. With a steadying breath, he stopped his mop job and casually clasped the long pole with his two hands. “I wasn’t trying to bait you by starting and stopping. My mind and mouth sometimes don’t sync. I think it’s a family trait.” He laughed, nerves tried to swoop in, but Stevie curtailed it. “It’s about that crush admission. I feel I need to apologize for it. It wasn’t appropriate of me. You’re my boss. Don’t places usually frown upon that kind of…I don’t know. Behavior?”
Delilah - A bright grin formed on her features at Stevies statement. He was a good egg, and she appreciated him and his hard work. " Why thank you kind sir," she replied with a chuckle, hoping that the patron came in when they were both working so they could get more of a story. Part of Delilah wondered if the house was haunted now that she knew it was a Victorian. They always seemed to have some sort of tragic past. Stevie stopping his movements had her pausing, head cocking to the side. As he spoke, her cheeks depend to a deep red. She had just been teasing him, and she'd regretted it after mentioning it. She didn't have an HR department, and she didn't want Stevie taking her texts the wrong way. Even if he was a very handsome guy. "Stevie... You don't have to apologize." She began, putting the dustpan and hand held broom down. "It's not like you were openly checking me out at work, or asking me out...Besides I'm your boss, I shouldn't have texted you the way I did, even if I was just teasing you. I suppose I just got a little carried away with it.
Stevie - “I felt I needed to. I’m glad you weren’t offended or wanted to move me to the back room to deal with inventory all day, so you don’t need to see me.” So, she was teasing him because she didn’t see him that way? Stevie wanted to question it, but this could lead to that awkward place he was trying to prevent. He likes Delilah, and he likes this job. It’s one of the better ones he’s had since ever. “I didn’t mind the texting. I found your reaction to it cute.” He admitted, giving her a sheepish smile. “I meant what I said with my answer; anyone who gets to know you as I have will see how incredible you are.” Even though he feels internally deflated, she doesn’t see him like that; Stevie knows that whoever she likes will be one lucky person.
Delilah - She waved a hand at him "I wouldn't banish you, Stevie." She replied, blue eyes assessing him. There was something in his gaze that had her wanting to furrow her brow. That though ght however, was quickly extinguished when he admitted to finding her reaction cute, the pink hue of her cheeks deepening. "You really are very sweet and good, you know that right?" Her heart felt like it was in her throat. She wasn't trying to flirt or give him mixed signals. Her feelings were all over the place what with Ethan coming back into her life, maybe if Stevie didn't work for her she'd give him a chance. The last thing she wanted was to lose him as a friend and coworker. "You do realize that the sentiment goes for you too, right? I'm quite shocked that you're single all things considered. I mean, you're so sweet, and charming, and just - look at you!" She bit down on her bottom lip, "Sorry, as your boss I need to not say that kind of thing. Just know that anyone who meets you should be honored. I know Im honored to know you."
Stevie - “This makes me happy to hear. I like the backroom crew. They’re cool people, except Joann runs a tight ship, and I don’t know the ins and outs. She’ll have me out and on my butt in a matter of minutes.” Stevie laughed. The blush on Delilah’s cheeks brought out the sparkling sapphire in her eyes, and Stevie secretly marveled at her beauty before snapping out of it. Sweet and good. These are the perfect words to describe Stevie, and he can’t tell if these words bother him at that moment because, yes, he’s those two things, but Stevie also wants to be seen as desirable. Even captivating. He wants to display the traits he’s read in countless stories where characters swoon in their intended presence. However, his self-confidence hit with the demise of his last relationship, leaving Stevie in a quiet, protective bubble. “I can say the same about you. My last relationship left me feeling like I wasn’t enough. I haven’t been able to get past it, I guess.” He shared. What harm can there be with doing so when he’s already admitted his crush? “I know. It’s okay. This situation with my crush on you isn’t exactly ideal. I think a secret HR person will appear out of the coffee machines and ask what’s happening.” He laughed at the visual. “It’s cool if you don’t see me like that. Or if you do, but the timing sucks or whatever the reason is. I just wanted you to know you’re crush-worthy. 100%.”
Delilah - A laugh passed her lips upon hearing Stevie speak. He was always cracking her up in one way or another, and that was one of the things she liked most about him, his humour and his ease around people. “She’s hard but good, I’m grateful for her even if she can drive me mad.” They really should have been cleaning, but Delilah couldn’t help but feel like getting to know Stevie and really listening to him was far more important. Besides, she lived above the store, she could pop down whenever and finish cleaning up. Her heart clenched slightly at his words. She knew that pain all too well, and it broke her heart to know that someone would do that to Stevie. Her first instinct was to wrap him in a hug but that wasn’t appropriate. Even if she desperately wanted to. “Look, I’ll start by saying this - your last partner was a bloody wanker for making you ever feel like you’re not enough. And there’s definitely no HR person because what I’m about to say would get me fired from my own job no doubt -“ she began, cheeks aflame. “It’s not that I would be opposed to anything Stevie. You’re kind and charming, and easy to talk to and so so handsome. I’ve just got a lot going on and I rather value you as a friend” she managed to get out, running a hand through her blonde hair. “I just wish that you could see you the way I, and undoubtedly many other people do. You’re amazing. If your ex ever shows up you let me know, and I’ll set them straight.”
Stevie - Delilah's store has a good mix of employees, all eager to watch the shop thrive. When Stevie applied for the job, he was still working late nights at a diner and in dire need of a change. Now, all these months later, he feels as if he's part of something important—not just for a paycheck but to watch a dream flourish. Stevie couldn't anticipate the direction this conversation would take when he brought up the whole crush topic, but now he felt guilt pit in his stomach. Stevie's not a woe-is-me sort, and he doesn't want Delilah to feel she needs to protect him from his cheating ex. Yet, the sentiment does chip at the guilt and he breathed a sigh. "If she shows up in Bearcreek again, I don't think you'll need to worry. She and I are ancient history. I don't even miss her anymore." He missed the friendship they once had, but that ended as soon as she told him about the other guy she slept with. Stevie's eyes settled on Delilah's blushed cheeks again, curious if his face was as red as hers because it felt hot. He's embarrassed and wishes he didn't bring any of this up. "Of course. I-I should have realized all of this was out of the question. I value our friendship too, Del. You're one of the few people in this city I talk to daily. None of that small talk." He knows she gets his meaning. "Are things okay? With what's going on in your life?" He remembered the mop in his hand and lifted it to place it back into the bucket. No matter how awkward he feels, he'll put his friendship with Delilah first.
Delilah - The store was her pride and joy, it was a miracle that it was still running so well, and she had to thank her employees for being so amazing. Without them the store wouldn’t be half as successful. “I have to worry about it a bit, I care about you.” She replied, lips pursed. Even if he didn’t kiss his ex anymore, the fact that someone had hurt him caused Delilah to feel protective. Even if she didn’t really have a full right to. It wasn’t that it was out of the question, but there were other factors at play that Delilah normally wouldn’t have to worry about. In a perfect world she might have teased him a bit more, even kissed him, but they didn’t live in one of those. “I consider you one of my closest friends, you know that.” Talking with him was easy. Comfortable even. Her mind immediately went to thoughts of her conversation with Ethan, and all the complexities that came with that particular relationship. “Someone I thought would be a part of my life in a certain serious way and then left… is now back. I’m not sure if you remember Ethan, but he’s back and it’s a rather big cock up.”
Stevie - As much as this conversation pains him, Stevie's thankful for it. For starters, they're speaking about it like adults, something he's not too surprised about, given how he and Delilah typically talk to one another. The thing is, once Delilah mentioned Ethan, Stevie's demeanor changed. He abandoned the mop in its bucket and faced her. "Oh..." he said at first as his gaze focused on Delilah's features and body language to gauge what this return meant to her. "Have you talked to him about what happened between you?" He asked and went to take the chairs down and offered Delilah to sit, Stevie taking the one opposite her. "How are you handling this?" Stevie said he would be okay if his ex returned, but that doesn't mean a storm of tumultuous emotions wouldn't brew underneath the surface.
Delilah -To say she was a bit of a mess about everything would be an understatement. Ethan leaving and torn something out of her that she was only just mending, only for him to walk back into her life. She sat down opposite Stevie, grateful that he still wanted to talk to her even though she didn’t exactly fully return his feelings. “We talked yeah… He said that he realized he messed up, that he wants to settle down and make a life for himself.” She pursed her lips then, crossing her arms over her chest. She hadn’t fully opened up about the Ethan issue with anyone yet, scared to know how her friends would react. “I feel…. Confused. My feelings aren’t as gone as I thought they were, but I’m still quite hurt. We- don’t have to talk about this if it’s odd.” Guilt ebbed in her and she hoped she wasn’t making Stevie uncomfortable.
Stevie - With a sympathetic gaze, Stevie took hold of Delilah’s hand and clasped it between his much larger ones. “We can talk about as much or as little when it comes to Ethan. You mentioned the guy to me in passing, but I never got what happened. Is it okay for me to ask why he suddenly left? Did this happen when you lived here or elsewhere?” If it was elsewhere then Ethan deciding on Bearcreek to be the place to settle will seem as if he wants a second chance…
Delilah - She looked at their joined hands, taking slight pleasure in the fact that his hands practically consumed hers due to the size difference. Her blue eyes closed and she let out a small sigh. She really was grateful for him. “We were friends and then it got to be more and it got intense and it was like we were dating? And I guess it went too hard too fast for him and he left.” She looked up at Stevie then, “it happened here, so he’s come home. So I can’t be too mad about him coming home but…” her smaller hand squeezed the hand clasped with hers. “I’ll be grand, I just have to take some time.”
Stevie -It’s as if a puzzle piece clicked in, and Stevie sees why Delilah is careful for anything to transpire between them. She’s already been through this with a friend, and the aftermath left her without that close connection with Ethan that she once had. It slightly pained him, but he’ll be okay. But will she with this current situation? She says she’ll be, but Ethan’s the one who left her when things got too serious. Stevie would struggle with that if he’s in Delilah’s shoes. “Has he mentioned trying to pick up where you left off?”
Delilah - Her chat with Ethan had been in her mind on repeat, the only thing that was distracting her was work. Though it felt nice to talk about it with Stevie, it was still fresh and hard to wrap her head around. “He has, but I’m not ready for that. I dont really fancy getting my heart broken again. I’ve told him I’m down to being friends and getting to know one another again, but as of right now I’m protecting myself… do you think that’s the right course of action?”
Stevie - “He wants to pick up where he left off with the more-than-friends part.” Stevie asked after he realized he wasn’t clear with the initial question. “I-“ He paused to think about this. What would he do? Could he return to a friend with his last ex? He was able to with exes before her, but the last one brutalized his heart. “I think you’ve made the right choice. Trying to pretend he doesn’t exist and avoid him at all costs isn’t realistic. It sounds like you have things to work through if restoring that friendship is important for you and him. But it’ll get tricky not to fall back into the familiarity of how good things felt when it was more than friendship.” They’re adults; there’s no point in pretending sex doesn’t happen. He’s stupidly fallen into that with his ex when she returned to visit her family over Christmas.
Delilah - A slow nod came from her at his words. The affirmation that she was doing the right thing was welcome. Even if it was probably hard for Stevie to hear what she was saying. Delilah had to admit that it would be difficult to not fall into patterns with Ethan. She had needs, and seeing him even with all the pain brought back passion filled memories. “I will admit that’s what I’m most afraid of. I have a hard time withholding from myself when it comes to … certain aspects of being more than friends so, I will most likely just be working much, much more to mitigate that.” Delilah squeezed his hand again and offered him a small smile. “You really are very good Stevie. I’m so lucky to know you… thank you for listening to me and not pushing me away when I teased you about your crush.”
Stevie - You’ll do great, Delilah. I know you’ll at least try your best. If there’s a slip, don’t do what I did and beat yourself up for months.” Stevie’s one to find things he likes about other people. The beauty in it. However, it takes a lot for him to fall head over heels, so he keeps gravitating towards an ex who wronged him in the worst way. The hand squeeze brought Stevie back, and he hoped it wouldn’t be too painful to see Delilah with someone else, wishing it was him instead. “Hey,” he said, his voice low yet sincere. “That’s what friends are for, yeah? We can talk about anything. Which includes teasing.” He offered a sweet smile and soon let go of her hand. “I better finish this mop job, and before you offer, I’ll take care of it, Del. You’ve been on your feet all day.”
Delilah- Her blue eyes assessed him, knowing that even despite his words, if she did slip up with Ethan that she'd most likely be chastising herself for a while afterwards. It was just human nature. She offered him a small smile, hoping that despite his crush, they could always remain friends. losing his friendship wasn't something Delilah really wanted to experience. "You finish up the mopping and get out of here, I've kept you far too late. I've got to go tidy up the freezer." She replied, attempting to not dwell on how cold she felt after Stevie let go of her hand.
Stevie - At least Delilah didn’t insist on finishing his mop job. “You got it, boss.” He said, lifting the two chairs onto the table again. Stevie watched as Delilah left, feeling an instant pang of loneliness. Why is it so hard for him to get out and date? It feels the few relationships he’s had were with people he’d grown close to, and their absence from his life sucks. Reaching out to his most recent ex is a mistake, but he’s someone he used to turn to about everything, and he doesn’t want to talk to Delilah about his feelings after the talk they just had. Stevie shook his head and set himself to work. Maybe he’ll go to Troubletones after work and put himself out there. Or he can talk to Sam about dating app advice. Something is better than nothing.
[BSTS] Sinju Bokusube 4* Card Story
with another rerun coming up I figured its about time I post this story, it is a spicy meatball 🔥
note: (In the show, Rindou, Shinju and Maica all play the same role, Rindou is the man’s human heart, Shinju is the wolf’s and Maica is the soul that binds them together. This was Shinju’s first show as a standard member.)
Tumblr media
chapter 1 -rehearsal room-
shinju: “♪Tatoe subete wo ushinatte mo—”
shinju: ... Something’s off, I'll try it once more.
-dances around-
shinju: Mann~ It still doesn't feel right, this is no good!
saki: Shinju-san is everything alright?
shinju: Sighh... it's no use. I'm gonna end my practice here, sorry, even though you stuck around with me. It doesn't seem like I'm gonna improve anymore today so I’ll give up for now.
-time pass, street at night-
shinju: Uwah, it’s gotten so late! I’m sorry for making you watch me practice.
saki: It's ok, I don't mind. I'm not sure how much help I am though.
shinju: With you there I can give it my best, plus being watched by someone lifts my spirits. Ah man~ Even though I'm finally a standard member I still can’t properly grasp my role. Isn’t one man having the heart of both a human and a wolf too complex? What would it even feel like to have the heart of a wolf in the first place? Either way I know I'm not portraying it correctly yet.
'The wolf side wants to eat the girl'. That's what Rindou said to me. But I mean, this guy still eats meals as a human, would he even get hungry enough to go that far?
saki: Maybe it's more of a figurative sense of desire than a literal hunger.
shinju: Figurative desire? Not just an empty stomach? Starving for her he... eats a person? What do you mean? So my thinking of him wanting to eat her just cause he’s hungry was off the mark then.
'The wolf side wants to eat her'...So it means that only she will sate his hunger then?
-shinju moves in super close to saki-
saki: (So close...!)
shinju: Ah, sorry, I thought that if I were to eat you I'd have to get this close and moved without thinking. You also you smelt nice. (he quickly backs away) Ah what am I saying! Sorry again, really!
saki: It would be inconvenient if I got eaten.
shinju: Ahaha yeah it would. Don't worry I won't suddenly gulp you down. But y'know, I realised something. That maybe it can't just be anyone for me as well. I had wanted you to watch me practice, if I didn't care who it was I could've just asked one of my team members. But, you were who I thought would be best, I wonder why. (smirks) Hey, do you know why?
saki: Huh? Uh, I wonder as well...
shinju: Thanks a bunch for today. I feel like I've understood something now thanks to you. From here on I gotta think about it some more myself. When I become a wolf under the moonlight, what would it be that I desire? I can't explain it well but, I feel like I’ll figure it out. Will you wish me luck in finding the answer?
saki: Of course. I'll be looking forward to what you come up with.
shinju: Thanks. When you have expectations for me like that, I love it.
-shinju looks shocked before backing away blushing-
Tumblr media
shinju: I'm gonna head back to the rehearsal room. Sorry I couldn't escort you all the way to the station.
saki: Huh? You're going back there when it’s this late?
shinju: See you tomorrow! Take care Saki-chan!
-he runs off-
-
chapter 2 - starless hallway-
shinju: I'm here Saki-chan. You were looking for me right?
saki: Yes, how did you know?
shinju: The sound of your footsteps gave me that impression. I know, weird isn't it.
saki: Shinju-san...?
shinju: There seems to be a lot of people in the audience.
saki: Oh, did you go and take a peek?
shinju: Nah, I can tell from here that there's a lot of people chatting out there. I figured that all the guests must be arriving. Ever since last night I've felt kinda odd.
Being a standard member is tough, this is the kind of atmosphere that they've been experiencing. Now that I’ve tasted it, I don't want to step down anymore. I don't want to give this spot up to anyone else. The sound of the stage, the atmosphere, the lights... all of it. I want to make it all my own. I realised that my thoughts were this selfish but it feels so good. I wanna get on the stage already and give it all I’ve got.
saki: (I wonder why, something about Shinju-san’s vibe is different tonight.)
shinju: Hey, make sure you cheer for me tonight. Not for Maica or Rindou or anyone else, just me. You don’t need to say anything to that though.
saki: What? Why...?
shinju: I don't need a response.
-kabedon-
saki: Eh? Um...?
shinju: I'm a wolf that will feast if he wants to. I won't be able to hear the response of someone that's been eaten up, right? Watch me, Saki-chan. I'll show you, I’ll become a wolf on this stage. A wolf that will devour the person they desire, their eyes, their mouth, hands, legs, their entirety. Without leaving a trace.
-he backs away and smiles innocently-
shinju: I gotta head to the stage now. Watch me from your seat, ok? I'm sure I'll spot you!
-shinju leaves-
saki: Wow that was surprising….
Applin Of My Eye Ch3 An Unexpected Reunion P2
Tumblr media
The day had been good so far.
Turrffield was a town of peace and quiet. Most of the time it was anyways. Unless some of his wooloo got out, or if he was battling at his local gym. Otherwise it was pretty peaceful, which was how he liked it most of the time. Nothing could beat the way the breeze quietly blew through the fields and the wooloos cutely baaed their own language as they played in the fields. That day had been no different, when he had gotten up bright and early and started the day by making breakfast for himself and Felix. They had a lot to do today so they were going to need a good meal to start off. Speaking of said little brother- Smaller footsteps came from upstairs and got closer and closer until Felix appeared bounding down the stairs and into the kitchen.
"Morning Milo!," Felix greeted with a smiling as he walked right up to him, attracted to the sight, smell, and sounds of sizzling sausage and eggs. "I see you got breakfast already done."
He gave a smile of his own back to his baby brother. "Hahaha! Actually you're just in time for me to serve it to you." The pan with said food was lifted off the stove top as Milo turned to the table, spatula in the other hand.
"Oh yum!" Felix wasted no time to jump into the nearest chair with a plate set in front of it just in time for Milo to push some of the desired food on it with a tilt of his pan.
It made his brother chuckle. "Careful. It's hot since I just took it off the stove. Hows the online classes coming along?"
"Just fine! I got a B back from the history exam we did the other day."
"That's great, Felix! You're making great progress on everything. I'm proud of you! Make sure you eat up. We have a lot of work to get done this weekend."
Felix gave him a look grabbing the fork. "What's on the agenda this time, Mi?"
"Oh lots of things. We have to clean out the barn, store the hay bails in the barn once we clean it, and we have to sheer the wooloo's tomorrow so we can ship it off. It's going to be a lot of work to get done in two days but I'm sure we can get it done if we work together."
Felix nodded before pausing. "Hey. Milo." His brother hummed. "Has-..H-Has anyone called about Daisy yet?"
It was Milo's turn to pause before giving a sad frown. "Oh. Sorry, Felix. No one's seen her yet, but don't worry. She'll pop up soon! I know it!"
Felix's expression didn't look up from his uneaten food. "...I miss her Milo. I really do."
"I know, Buddy. I do too." He hummed. "...Tell you what. It shouldn't take us too long to get the barn ready and hay stored. As soon as we're done with that we can go look for her again. How does that sound?"
"Y-Yeah. I think I'd like that a lot."
"That's the spirit! Go ahead and eat up. The sooner we finish, the sooner we can take a look around town again."
Poor Felix. He's been upset ever since his little wooloo buddy ran off almost three months ago. He suspected Daisy slipped through the hole he discovered in the fence that day, but none of Milo's wooloo were missing so it was hard to say. Since then they've been doing everything they could think of to find the special wooloo. Missing posters, asking around, combing through the woods, and he even went a while step further and contacted his league friends asking that if any shiny wooloo was spotted near them to contact him immediately. But so far nothing had come up, which was starting to make him worry a bit. But there really wasn't anything they could do but keep and eye out and keep looking until she was eventually found. Hopefully it'd be soon so Felix wouldn't worry for much longer. However he had no idea how soon they're prayers would be answered.
The barn itself wasn't too hard to clean. Just move a few things around and use a firm broom to sweep away any dirt and stray wooloo fur. The real challenge would be to roll all those hay bails inside to store for later use. That's where he came in. He had a much easier time rolling the giant heavy bails from their random spots on the field and over into the barn, in the meantime Felix busied himself doing other things like watering the crops and feeding the herd of wooloo as he wasn't strong enough yet to move such heavy hay bails like Milo. He will one day, but until then Milo won't let him do any of the dangerous heavy lifting. Things were coming along real fast. If they kept this up, they'd be all done before noon even hit! He was already down to one of the last hay bails anyways when Felix came quickly bounding back up to his side.
"I'm all finished with everything else. Can we go look now?"
"There's only a few bails left for me to move. We can go looking as soon as I'm done."
"Can't you do the rest of them when we come back?"
" By then it'll be too late for anymore work, Felix. And I don't want you going off searching by yourself and getting lost. Just be patient for a few more minutes. Ok?"
Felix deflated but it would be better for him to wait for Milo to finish so they can look around together. The last thing he wanted was for Felix to get lost or hurt himself trying to search for his missing  wooloo. He wouldn't be too long now anyways, just a few more hay bails and he'd be all done-
"Excuse me!"
He paused mid roll. What was-
"You in the field!" Both Milo and Felix looked over and we're surprised to see what appeared to be a woman standing by their fence waving an arm at them. What the? Who was that? "I think I found your missing wooloo!"
Those few words sparked them into pausing at that. Wha- A MISSING WOOLOO?! THEIRS?! He was pretty sure that none of his herd had gotten out again. The woman was too far away to clearly make out who it was, but the voice sounded oddly.... familiar. Was she one of the locals maybe? Wait. What was that small thing right next to her?
"DAISY!!"
He nearly jumped from the volume of Felix's voice before his brother with the speed of a rapidash on a sugar high took off towards the fence and whoever it was. The last thing you really expected was the teen dropping anything his hands right then and there before charging right at you or the fact that you would  suddenly found yourself falling over. Landing flat on your back. Looking up at the sky from the ground as a brown blur bowled you over by ramming into your legs and continued on pawing at the fence happily giving out the loudest baas you'd ever heard. Felix never wasted any time hopping the fence like a desperate kangastan and running right up to the brown baaing blur arms outstretched.
"DAISY!!"
"Oh my Arceus!" Milo's mouth dropped in shock as he just literally watched someone go flying by getting knocked over by a wooloo. Of course he went running right over, one hand clutching his hat. "Oh no. Oh no. Hey Miss! Are you ok?!"
You laid there dazed for a good while just staring up at the fluffy white clouds going across the sky as your brain was slowly processing what exactly happened. ...Huh. You must've hit your head harder than it felt because the sky looked a lot like Silver all of a sudden. It even chirped at you just like him and a pink hand rapidly patted your face. It took you a good few moments to realize that it WAS Silver standing over you and patting your face.
"...Ow." You groaned slowly prying yourself off the ground to prop yourself up on your elbows, brain catching up to you finally. "I'm gonna feel that in the morning. Remind me to never turn by back on a wooloo again, Sil." Silver chirped at you. You groaned blinking your f/c eyes for a moment at some strange noises but paused at what you witnessed.
"Hey, Lady!! Are you ok over there?!" Milo called out again as he quickly got closer and closer, more worried the longer the woman didn't answer. Oh no. Did she get knocked out? Would he have to call a flying ambulance?! He finally reached the fence hand grabbing onto the white wooden fence, panting. He saw she had sat up and her eyes were open (thank Arceus) but she was stone still. "Are you alright?! That looked like a hard fall you took!" She remained silent. "Hey! Why aren't you answering? Are you hurt?! I need to know-" he glanced over. "-so I...can..."
He stopped and stared at the sight of Felix, his little baby brother, was sitting there crosslegged slightly rocking back and forth with soft sobs escaping his mouth. Wrapped up tight in his arms was a wooloo who he knew all too well, she was baaing absolutely happy and waving her little legs around not minding at all that there was a kid death hugging her with his face half way smooshed into her brown wool. If he looked hard enough he could even see a few makings of tears rolling down his exposed cheek. He stared at the sight before him. Slowly letting the scene sink in.
"....Daisy?" The wooloo turned to him hearing her name and based in greeting to him. "Daisy! It is you!" An instant smiled appeared on his face and with one strong hop, kicked himself over the fence the same way Felix did. "Hey girl! Where have you been?" Daisy only baaed happily and eagerly accepted the head Pat's Milo gave him. "But you're here and you're alright!" He blinked. "...And you've been...sheered?"
"Yeah. Sorry about that." He blinked back over when someone grunted and saw you were slowly picking yourself up off the ground and slowly stretching your body out, your back giving a few small pops. Yep. You were definitely going to be feeling that tomorrow morning. With a groan your hands rubbed your back with a hiss escaping your lips. "She was pretty roughed up when my friends found her so we kinda had to fix a few things." You waved as he blinked. "She's lost some wool and she's a bit under weight but I think she's ok. Ow."
Milo froze. The wheels whirling in his mind until it stopped and he lit up in both the color pink and realization. "I-...I-I-Its you!"
You nodded. "It's me. Hey there, Milo. It's good to see you again."
His cru- I mean the lady that saved Galar?! Here?! What was she doing here?! But most importantly -
"A-Are you alright?", He asked holding out a hand. "That looked like a hard fall you t-t-took there. I know wooloo are a lot stronger than people think."
You waved him off. "Nah. I'm fine. It's not the worst thing that's happened to me, and it's not the first time I've gotten bowled over by a wooloo either."
"Oh Arceus. Don't remind me." He frowned guiltily. "And again sorry for that. And sorry Daisy knocked you over like that."
"Daisy?"
Milo gestured to the shiny wooloo as Felix sniffed and finally looked up at the newcomer. "She's my little brother's pokemon, but she went missing a few months ago. We've been looking for her everywhere. Where did you find her?"
"Found her in Postwick." You pointed at Daisy. "Then we just cleaned her up and followed the address on her collar there."
"Postwick? How'd she get all the way there?" That was a good distance away from Turrffield even. He shook his head starting to calm down from his shock over everything now. "Well I guess that doesn't matter. What's important is that she's back safe and sound now." He smiled again. "And I can't thank you enough, but are you sure you're alright?"
"Believe me. I'm perfectly fine, plus I'm used to this by now with everything I've been through. But I did want to ask you about something -"
He held up a hand. "I know exactly what that is."
You blinked before raising a brow. "Wait. Really?"
"Yes, but I should really finish putting the hay away." He politely gestured to the farmhouse behind him. "Why don't you go inside and have a rest and I'll get right back to you." He hummed before turning to Felix who just stood back up still sniffling. "Hey. You go ahead and have a break too. Ok? I'm sure Daisy's hungry from her trip so why don't you go feed her?"
Felix sniffled but nodded and went back to cuddling into Daisy's wool before turning....Felix? OH!! FELIX!! THAT WAS THE NAME ON THE COLLAR!! Daisy must've belonged to Milo's little brother all along.
"Felix will show you inside. I'll be there as soon as I get the rest of the hay bails in the barn. It shouldn't take more than twenty minutes."
"Oh..." You smiled making him blink. "Thanks! That's really kind of you."
He coughed but nodded before quickly turning away to hop back over the fence and quickly walking back over to the remaining few bails. You slowly turned back to the house and just saw Felix staring at you from the doorway. Guess he was waiting for you. Slowly, you walked all the way up to stand on the porch, and it was only then did Felix turned, sniffled, and shuffled to hold Daisy under one arm to open the door.
"C-C'mon in," Felix said nodding his head to the inside.
"I will thanks."
With Silver waddling at your feet, you followed Felix into the house and...It did NOT look at all like you were expecting. You were expecting a farm house to have all kinds of rustic furniture or country styled decor hanging up everywhere or even a rocking chair somewhere but you saw none of that. All the furniture looked some state of new-ish and not rustic hand me down oldies you were expecting. Honestly it looked and felt more like Hop's house except everything has some kind of green and white color scheme. But then again what were you expecting from a grass type gym leader? Speaking of which there was plenty of grass type Pokemon decor around here along with a lot of wooloo things too. A wooloo shaped cookie jar. A petili  themed plant pot on the shelf there. And even the sofa in the living room had eldegoss looking throw pillows. Ah. Wasn't that one of Milo's pokemon? Felix went ahead and plopped himself down on an armchair still refusing to Iet go of Daisy and just nodded politely to the sofa.
"Y-You can sit there if you'd like, Miss."
"Thank you. And you can just call me Y/n. It's easier that way." You took him up on his offer and sat down across from him. "So... That's your wooloo huh?"
He nodded and for the first time since you got there saw him smile. "Y-Yeah. *Sniff* She's my favorite pokemon."Daisy happily baaed as she was pulled tighter against the boy. "Y-You have no idea how worried I w-was about her. I thought I'd never see her again."
"I imagine it must've been a rough time. I know I'd feel the same way if I ever lost Silver here." Said drizzlie just sighed and flopped face first on the floor. Felix sniffled again as you watched. "...Here." In a swift motion, you reached into a pocket on your shirt and pulled out a handkerchief before extending it to Felix whom blinked surprised at you. "I always carry some with me since Silver's a messy eater, but you can have this one."
Felix stared at it before smiling again and taking it from you. "T-Thanks."
"It's my pleasure. It's also good to see you again too." He blinked confused from behind wiping his eyes. "We saw each other last year. Don't you remember me? I was the one who babysat everyone at the Champion Cup."
A flash of realization crossed his face. "Ooohh. I remember you. You're the one that gave my brother and I those keychains and free food last Christmas." You smiled. "You also got ran over by Willy. Sorry about that."
"...Willy?"
"He was the wooloo that escaped that day. Gave my brother a run for his money. Wooloo's are always finding new ways to escape around here. Milo's chasing them through town all the time."
Milo named his wooloo? You sighed. "It's alright. Things happen. But I haven't seen you since last year. Congratulations on making it to the semifinals by the way. It must've been a tough ride."
Felix groaned. "Don't remind me. I had to fight Kabe ten times and Raihan thirty two times before I even got through, and then I barely made it time to qualify for the finals! Everyone went through like a breeze."
"You still did a great job. Don't knock your hard work! You got really far."
"Thank you. It was great to be there even if I did lose the first match. The Champion's brother is a real good fighter too so I guess that runs in their family.''
You nodded. Hop was a good fighter, and you briefly remembered watching him fight against Felix in the semifinals before Hop ultimately won. Felix had still put up a good fight however. You remembered the last time you saw the brothers was when you were forced into a babysitting gig-
knocking.....MORE. KNOCKING!!! Came from the door again drawing a few people attention as you looked on over and stared blankly. Until another knock came and you sighed as whoever it was just opened the door, and you prayed it was FINALLY Leon-...Nope. You stared as not one but SEVEN people walked in. And your jaw dropped a bit when seeing who it was exactly. Milo and Melony!! What the heck were those two doing here? Didn't they have to worry about their battle next? ...You got your answer as five children walked in with them. Three of them, boys all around Allister's age, giggled like little maniacs as they rushed in and ran straight for the chairs set up by the windows.
"Wha- Hey! Watch where you're going!," Bede barked as the three ignored him immediately clambering up the chairs only to press their hands and faces on the windows looking out at the repair team and crowds below.
You blinked as you stared at them, the three all had hair ranging from blonde to blondish-white hair and all with blue eyes. ...They looked a bit similar to Gordie actually.
"Boys! Where are your manners? Be nice to the other kids."
You looked back towards the sound of the voice and saw that Melony was giving the three a frown as a girl stood next to her. She looked around the same age as Gloria, only like Melony she sported snow white hair and the same blue eyes as her and the boys. Were they related? The girl looked slightly embarrassed but next to her was Milo and standing right beside him was a boy also around the same age as Hop and Gloria. You blinked at first thinking you were seeing double as this boy could easily pass for a much younger Milo. But the boy looked different too. Both had the same pink hair and green eyes, but compared to Milo the boy had darker green eyes and lighter pink hair, and no freckles were on his face which was something Milo had that he didn't. Everyone was staring at the commotion that had once again walked in through the door and inevitably as the two grown ups looked around, Milo eventually spotted you staring back at them confused and shocked from the couch. He smiled back widely and gave a wave towards you.
Hello!," he greeted catching Melony's attention over to you too as you stared. "Um. So sorry to barge in like this. Definitely not our intention." He have a sheepish smile. "But we heard from Raihan you were watching everyone's children up here for them." He hand came down to pat the smaller him on the shoulder. "My brother's visiting the city today and I think he'll be better off here out of the way. I'm kinda busy at the moment with things."
"As am I." Melony sighed before placing her hands on her hips in the way only a tired mother could. "I can't ask Gordie to just watch them and I hate letting my little frostlings out of my sight. Can't turn my back for one second and their trying to climb a wall like a Bug-type."
Raihan. Of course!! That guy just had to go on and blab about this to the others. You scowled in annoyance. "Im gonna put out that dragon's fire next time I see him."
"...Pardon?"
"Uh..Nothing." You looked back to them with a small smile. "Let me guess. You guys want me to watch these little guys too?"
Aren't you a bit.." Milo gave a look over all the other kids already there. "...Booked? Maybe this wasn't a good idea after all. You look like you already got your hands full in here."
"What other choice do we have?", Melony asked looking back at him. "I can't just leave them in the stands by themselves? Elsa can't watch all the boys by herself, and Gordie's not an option either. It's either this or we'll both have to forfeit the match."
"I know. I know. It's just-"
"I can do it." They both looked back to you smiling and standing from the couch to face them. "It'd be no problem since I've babysat before."
They both looked to you before Milo asked unsure, "Are you sure? I mean Felix won't be any trouble, but we don't want to over burden you."
You waved him off. "Nah it's fine. You guys can just leave them here and pick them up after the finals are over."
Long story short...You went from five kids to watching ten now. Sigh. The triplets and their older sister immediately took attention to the window at least. Everyone seemed too distracted to really pay attention to you as you waited for your ramen to cook. You didn't even know Milo and Gordie were big brothers too.
"Ok Felix. Watch closely and learn how your big bro does things."
And then the whole Rose revived Eternatus thing happened and you had to leave everyone with Mrs. Opal to catch up with your friends. You hoped Milo wasn't angry about that. You didn't think he was Considering he never mentioned it so you guessed he was ok with what happened. But you made a mental note to apologize to him for that later anyways.
"Sorry for bailing back there anyways. I had an emergency I had to take care of."
"You guys saved an entire region, so I think I can understand the situation."
You were about to ask him another question but was interrupted by the sounds of the front door opening and closing. You both looked up and a moment later none other than Milo himself walked into the living room. Upon seeing the two of you he smiled.
"Thanks for waiting. Sorry again if it took so long," he apologized.
"No it's alright. Felix was keeping me company, but what I really wanted to ask about was th-"
"Of course. After all I did advertise it in the missing posters." He didn't let you say another word before reaching into a pants pocket and pulling out a wallet.
"What are you doing?"
"The reward money. I promised three hundred dollars to anyone who found Daisy." He opened the wallet.
"I don't want that."
He paused just as he was reaching into said wallet before blinking. "What?"
"I said I DON'T want your money." You pointed back at him. "Put your wallet away and keep your money."
He blinked. "W-What? But I did promise it to whoever brought Daisy home."
"I didn't even know about any reward money!", You insisted holding your hands up, "I brought Daisy to the address on her collar because I assumed she was lost. Even if I knew about any reward money I still wouldn't accept anything because it was the right thing to do. I'm glad Daisy's back but that doesn't mean I'll take your money."
"Well-...I-" He looked a bit lost between his wallet and your face. "..W-Well at least let me give you some money for your troubles. Traveling all the way from Postwick and getting knocked over by our wooloo should at least earn you a hundred doll-"
"Milo!," You sternly cut him off with a frown, "I appreciate the gesture but Im NOT gonna take even a penny from you. I don't want your money at all. What I did was my own choice because it was simply the right thing to do. If I want money I can go out and work for it. You shouldn't have to pay me for making sure your Pokemon's home. If you just give me money anyways, I'll just give it right back." You stood now and reaching over, you took the wallet from Milo only to close it and put it back in the stunned farmers hands. "So please just put your wallet away. It's perfectly fine."
You then made Milo's hand close around the wallet....and his green eyes went from your face and your hands holding his..before his face lit up a bright pink. Felix went wide eyed at his brother's reaction to the woman... before a sly idea went across his face. So the small teen coughed making Milo jump and you both look at him.
"*ahem* Well golly, Miss. We sure do appreciate you went out of your way to do for us. What will you be doing now?"
You finally let go of Milo's hand. "I'll be resting for the rest of today then head on back home tomorrow morning."
"Oh, I see. Where will ya be staying?"
"I have a tent and sleeping bag. I'll just camp out tonight."
"Well..Why don't you stay here for the night?"
You both stared at him. "What?"
"You don't want any money which is all fine and dandy, but we'd still like to pay you back. So why don't you spend the night here and have dinner with us?"
"Oh. No. I couldn't ask you all to do that."
"It'd be no problem!" Felix smiled. "Milo's a great cook, and you can stay in the guest room! We wouldn't mind. Do we Milo?"
"Huh? O-Oh." He cleared his throat quickly and looked away. "I d-don't mind a bit. *Ahem* Of course you're free to stay if you wish. I-It would be no problem. I W-Wont force you to stay if you don't want to however. You're free to do a-as you wish."
You stood there for a moment thinking about it. "Well..I guess it would be nice to sleep in a bed before I'm forced to camp again and sleep on train seats. But there's one thing I'd like to check out in Turrffield tho. Do any of you know about the house for sale just up the road?"
Milo looked too busy fumbling with the green scarf around his neck nervously so Felix nodded. "That's the old Jenkins place. It's been up for sale for a while now but no one really wants to do business with that grouchy rude raisin."
"F-Felix! Be nice. O-Old Man Jenkins can't help it if he's a -a little under the weather most of time."
"Thanks. I'll keep that in mind when I go check out that place. I'll.. probably be back before it gets too dark but I'll see."
"Y-Yeah! You do that! T-T-Take your time!" He floundered as you excused yourself and saw yourself out Silver in tow.
As soon as the door closed behind her Felix turned to Milo's still red face giving the smugest of looks only a little brother could. "Woooow. You could not have made your crush anymore obvious, Bro."
Now usually one would deny such accusations or tell their little brother to shut it, but Milo only sighed and didn't even try to deny it. Felix would only see right through him anyways. He never was good at hiding these things. "Y-You really think so?"
"Uh. Lemme check. Blushing and looking like you're about to pass out any moment while talking to her? Yep! That's obvious I-totally-have-a-crush-on-you 101 right there. She was probably just too polite to say anything or thought she might've accidentally embarrassed you when she refused the money." Milo groaned again a hand reached up to rub his face. "Hey. Don't beat yourself up, Mi. It's normal to like someone. But ain't that the same girl who gave you free food last Christmas?"
He nodded with a sigh. GOSH!! Y/N WAS SO NICE!! IT MADE HIS HEART MELT!! "Yes. A-And she helped save Galar and Leon so-so... she's pretty good hearted. That's probably why she turned down the money."
"Oh. Well anyone who gives us free food and returns wooloo's is good enough for you in my books."Daisy let out a happy baa which made Felix smile. "Oh. Your welcome by the way."
Milo rose a brow puzzled. "Your welcome for what?"
"I got her to come over for dinner. You can make a good impression on her that way. After all they say the fastest way to a person's heart is through their stomach."
He almost fainted right then and there but managed to only instead make a funny choke noise that made Felix laugh. However things didn't really go through as Felix would've liked for his big brother. She did return around dinner time and Felix was the one to show her in and too the table which already had food set on it. Felix also made an effort to impress her by thinking of setting aside some generic pokemon food for her drizzlie which Felix gladly let Milo take all the credit and wasn't afraid to tell her so.
"Milo's really considerate. That's why everyone in Turrffield likes him so much! Oh wow. He even got your Pokemon some food too. Ain't he amazing?!"
Even when dinner was served and everyone was given the sweet apple curry Milo ended up making, Felix couldn't help but put his big brother in the spotlight.
"Did you know this entire dish is home made? And everything on this plate was hand grown right here in Turrffield?"
"Oh really?"
"Yeah! A lot of it's from our very own farm! Milo's REALLY great at providing things. And he's REALLY good at cooking."
Milo choked on an apple slice but Y/n only looked amused. "Oh really?"
"Uh huh! Any vegetarian curry you can think of! Bean medley curry, mushroom medley curry, plenty-of-potato curry, leek curry, apple curry, herb medley, salad curry, coconut curry- But his absolute BEST is tropical curry! He can make it taste so sweet that it's practically a desert! He memorized the recipe because it's my favorite. Did I mention how selfless and kind he was?"
Milo ended up tilting his hat down to hide how red faced he was. He did try to stop him, really he did but his throat felt so tight that all he could do was make a sound like he was dying but managed to save any embarrassment by covering it up with a cough.  Although that still didn't stop Felix was talking Milo up to you. You thought it was absolutely adorable and knew EXACTLY what was going on. While you did feel a bit bad for how embarrassed Milo was, you couldn't help but be amused by how much Felix was trying to obviously Wingman for his big brother.
"Did I mention he's strong?! Milo can push up to seven hundred and seventy pounds easily! That's like almost eight hundred pounds! And did I mention that not only is he a gym leader but he owns his own land and makes a lot of money from both farming and the pokemon league? I don't like to brag, but Milo's also in charge of the entire town of Turrffield. He might as well just own everything here. He also knows how to grow his own food... Did I already mention he was a great provider?!"
"...Felix..." Both of you looked up as Milo did not dare remove his hat but slightly pointed at him and spoke in a voice barely over a whisper. "I think it's time f-for bed..."
"Wha- But I didn't get to tell her about the time you saved a little kid from a charging mudsdale! Did I mention he's heroic and kind and always helps others?!"
You giggled and nodded. "Yes, but it is getting late. I think I'll go to sleep now if that's alright."
"Oh sure! The guest room is right upstairs. You can't miss it since it's the only one that has a white door. I can show you if you want! Milo even fixed it up for you! Isn't he considerate?"
"It's alright." You tried and failed not to giggle as you stood up. "Thank you for the food, Milo. It really was good. Good night."
Milo could only give a small hum from under his hat as you left, and Felix didn't speak again until he heard the guest room door upstairs close behind you. "I think that went well! She kept smiling and laughing!"
Milo's forehead met the table in embarrassment.
He guessed he should've felt relief when he woke up the next day and found out she had already left before he could apologize and offer to make her breakfast before she left, even if he did feel a bit hurt at her gone. But he understood. Postwick was a long ways away, even by train or taxi it would take a bit to get back. So it would be good to get a head start. However he would see her again but not until later when there was a disturbance at his gym. The entire small community of Turrffield was literally shaken awake  by a random dynamaxed pokemon that just happened to cut into a scheduled exhibition match between himself and Piers. They both had fled but not before making sure everyone had evacuated safely. However he wasn't expecting for two other people to show up-
"Hey! Mr. Milo!"
They both turned around and Piers spoke. "Hm? You're-..." He stopped. Blue eyes raising a surprised brow.
Milo however was just confused turning to the two of you just as you and Victor stopped in front of them, then he turned surprised, and held up his hands. "H-Hey! I'm sorry but you two can't be here right now. We're in a bit of an emergency we have to take care of."
"Hey, Hot Pink," you greeted Piers with a smile towards Piers who after a moment eventually sighed and shook his head.
Hah. How carefree can you be? There's an emergency goin' on 'ere and you're bargin' in here like ya own the place."
"Hey. We just got here actually...And what the heck is going on anyways?"
"I was actually in the middle of an exhibition match with Piers," Milo explained making you all look at him. "But then this dynamax pokemon came charging in out of no where. In was like a third party just dynamaxed a wild pokemon and sicked it on us in there. Very strange."
Both you and Victor looked at one another. Meanwhile Milo's thoughts were speeding through a mike a minute. Y/n?! Why was she here?! When did she get here?! Was there a connection to what had just happened?! Stop beating already heart!!
"The audience and staff already took shelter," Piers spoke making you look at him, "It was too dangerous to keep anyone in the stadium while that thing was rampagin'. Which begs the question why are the two of you 'ere? It's like every time there's trouble you're not far behind."
You went to go answer him and maybe ask if either of them had seen any trace of Hop, but before you could there was another shake followed by a loud cry that you both had heard on your way there but now being much closer it had everyone shaking and holding their arms out to avoid getting tripped up and falling to the ground before it stopped again with you all wobbling but standing thankfully. WHAT. WAS. THAT!? Was that the dynamax pokemon they mentioned before? Must've been. What else could've made that noise and rumble? You couldn't ask them anything yet before the door in front of the gym leaders opened and someone stepped out in front of them.
"I got everyone who was seated on the north side of the stadium evacuated!," a familiar voice panted out, making you two look up, "You must've heard right? More dynamax pokemon are running amok!"
"Much obliged, Hop!," Milo thanked the boy in front of him, "I'd expect nothing left from a gym challenger. I knew we could count on you!"
"I lost in the semifinals though-"
"HOP!!" Milo yelped as he was shoved aside and you pushed past him in order to see Hop. And sure enough he was right there. Startling he had jumped back from you shoving your way in front of him and he blinked.
"Ah! ....Y/n? ACK!"
You grabbed him by the shoulders. "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!? Don't you realize how dangerous that was chasing after thieves by yourself!? I thought we were done doing that after the Hammerlocke fiasco! You had us scared half to freaking death!"
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry!," he apologized holding up his hands with a wince, "I just-...I couldn't let them get away with the stolen shield!"
.....You sighed. "It's...ok. But you are NOT doing that again! We don't know what those guys are capable of. Promise?" He nodded and you sighed again letting your hands lift from his shoulder. "Good." Thank Arceus he was ok. That was the most important part. "What are you even doing here?"
"I chased those red and blue guys and saw them head into Turffield Stadium," Hop explained to you still with that apologetic face, "The I heard the uproar and there was no way I could leave it alone! I had to help out.'' He did that family move of rubbing the back of his neck. "So..er...Sorry. I lost sight of them in all the rush."
Those guys with the crazy hair were here? What the world were they doing here?
Milo hummed with a frown. "Those suspicious characters you saw are concerning. But for now, I think we should get this dynamax pokemon to settle down first." He then turned to Victor who blinked. "I'd be glad for your help against a tough looking opponent though. You mind lending a hand?" Victor who seemed surprised ...but nodded. "Alright! Then let's head to the pitch!"
"I'll lend a hand too," Piers jabbed in, "I don't blame the pokemon 'f course, but I'm still just a bit miffed they upstaged me." He then paused before looking over at Hop who blinked at him. "You come too, Bro Of The Champion."
He blinked. "Huh? Who me?" He pointed at himself and Piers nodded. He immediately gave a face and held up his hands. "I don't know how much I can really help. ...If I come along.." He slowly lowered his hands looking down. "I might just end up slowing the rest of you down."
"Aren't ya the one who beat me in one single go?"
Hop blinked looking back up at Piers and you looked at him too a bit confused. "Uh...What?"
Hop blinked looking back up at Piers and you looked at him too a bit confused. "Uh...What?"
"I said...Didn't ya beat me back in the gym challenge in one try?" ..Confused Hop nodded. "An' ya were one of the only three trainers good enough to get into the semifinals in the first place and defeat multiple gym leaders. Right?" Hop nodded again and Piers hummed. "Hm. I'd say that makes you pretty capable o' bein' in battle. I don't really know the guy, but I don't think Leon'd be all lost about this. Though he does actually get lost a lot..." You and Hop both stared wide eyed at the rockstar because...Did Piers literally just compliment Hop over Leon's experience in this?? He turned giving a gesture to the door you assumed lead into the stadium. "You comin'?"
"Uh.....OK!" Hop smiled a little agreeing.
"Right!," You agreed with a nod. You guys had to calm down that pokemon by the looks of it. "Let's get this show on the road."
"Y/n? Are ya sure?" You turned to Victor who gave a worried face. You guessed your confusion must've shown because he pointed at you. "Ye said you've never been in a battle before. Dontcha think this..I dunno...Might be a bad idea to do as you're first experience battlin'?"
Milo paused...and slowly looked to you as you shook your head at Victor. "Well..maybe not but Silver has battle experience from you guys borrowing him all those times. I'm sure if I just give him a few basic directions he can improvise the rest. What choice do we have?"
"You can just let us take care o' it. M' sure between us and the gym leaders, we'll bring that pokemon down faster than Milo's wooloo bowlin' ya over."
You frowned a little bit at the memory of that before saying. "Victor, I'll be fine. I'm going to help-"
"Oh no you're not!" You practically jumped whirling around and coming face to face with Milo who frowned. "That's putting your pokemon in danger if you're seriously under-experienced and a good way to get hurt!" he shook his head. "And you haven't been in a battle before? NO. No, no! This!" His hands came up to gesture between you and the door. "Is not happening. Too many risks."
You scowled back at him hands on your hips. "I'm tired of standing on the sidelines while everyone else does all the hard work around here! I want to HELP!"
"You can help by standing here and keeping watch?," Victor suggested.
"Yeah! If those weird haired guys are still around, we'll need someone to keep a look out for them just in case they try to slip away when we're not looking!," Hop piped up happily.
Milo pointed at him like he agreed. "That's smart thinking! Problem solved! You're not going in there!" He gestured at you almost annoyed. "You already got run over twice on my watch. I'm not going to allow you to be hurt again with something that's my responsibility."
You deepened your frown. "You can't tell me what to do! If you want me to stay here then you can make me!"
Piers, Victor, and Hop all looked at one another. Milo blinked CLEARLY taken aback at what you said eyes widening. "W-What?"
"I said if you don't want me in there you'll have to make me!"
Milo and you stared at one another for a long moment..before sighed  "Alright but I didn't want to have to do this." And he suddenly leaned down which confused you.
"What are you- EEEEEEKKK!?"
A girly high pitched squeal left you as all of a sudden two arms wrapped around your middle body, one around your lower back and the other around the back of your legs. In one hard pull, you fell forward and your body fell against another person's shoulder and back and you went up, up, up! And you found yourself in the embarrassing situation of having been literally thrown over Milo's shoulder by Milo himself. He easily lifted your entire weight as he stood up and held you firmly enough to keep you from fighting back before he began walking off towards one of the couches Milo following behind.
"MILO?," you shouted voice nearly cracking. Your face EXPLODED RED from the sheer embarrassment of it all. Your hands flew to grab the back of his shirt to help keep balance as you shouted. "P-PUT ME DOWN!! IM PRETTY SURE YOU CAN'T DO THIS!!"
"You said to make you and I am. I don't think I want to see you hurt again if I can prevent it,'' he replied back calmly much to your annoyance.
"What do you mean!? I have to help protect them!"
"I'll make sure they're both fine. YOU just need to take it easy for a bit."
Wha- OOF!" You stopped when you were suddenly leaned forward and harmlessly dropped back down onto the couch staring at him as he leaned back up to his usual height as he still looked down at you completely still calm.
"PLEASE." He held up his hands. "Stay here. I seriously don't want to see you hurt anymore, and frankly...I'm going to prevent anyone from getting' hurt. You need ta stay here and stay safe." You opened your mouth but stopped when he gently grabbed your shoulder. "I'm not letting' anyone get hurt.Especially you."
You sat there silent for a moment before he felt confident enough you wouldn't follow them stunned before Milo spoke.
"Don't worry," you looked at him as he assured you, "Piers might look scary, but he's great at looking after others. He's a big brother after all. And to be fair it would be probably safer for you in you stayed here too. I promise it won't take too long."....You sighed leaning back into your seat at his response. "Alright. We should get going too. I'll bring those kids back to you as soon as the battle's over. Ok?"
...Thanks, Mr. Milo. Appreciate it."
He smiled at you before turning and you watched them all go into the stadium after Piers one after the other before the door closed behind them...and you flopped back against the couch. MAN. All you wanted to do was help but-.....Sigh. But Piers made some good points. You never battled before outside video games and you had no experience on the battle field yourself. You couldn't risk making a mistake like that. So...You must sat there with Silver who hoped onto the couch next to you and just flopped onto his side exhausted from walking around so much. You just wished you could help out more. You sat there hearing the ensuing battling taking place and clinging to the couch every time the stadium shook from the battle which carried on for a good ten to fifthteen minutes as you waited with baited breath. No one really came in or out during that time anyways which might've been a blessing as you didn't want to really deal with anyone else at the moment. With one last final shake and cry it all ended. You waited for a couple moments waiting for some kind of response but none came. The only thing that came after a minute or two was the door opening and the boys all filing out. You immediately stood up and jogged on over to them as they came out. THANK ARCEUS THE BOYS WERE ALRIGHT! The only thing that looked off about then was Victor rubbing some dirt from his hat.
"Are you guys ok?," you shouted coming to a stop right in front of them all.
Hop nodded. "Yeah! Even with the four of us that battle was hard to win. Good thing we managed to beat that pokemon huh?"
You opened your mouth to say something before Milo walked up with something next to him. "Phew....Looks like things have finally calmed down a bit." He smiled with a Tsareena next to him who made a noise.
Piers next to him sighed and shook his head. "This dynamax stuff...No matter how many times I see it I don't like it."
"I see your dislike of dynamaxing still hasn't changed, Piers. "...The grass type gym leader turned back to the pokemon with a hum. "But there was definitely something off about that dynamax transformation."
Off? How could a dynamaxing giant pokemon be off- "There wasn't any trainer anywhere!" You turned to Hop. "And the pokemon itself seemed like it couldn't even control the power itself."
Milo nodded at him. "Quite right, Hop."
You looked at him confused. "..Huh? Do you wanna fill me in on what I missed?"
"Normally a pokemon needs to respond to a dynamax band in order to dynamax but-"
Seems there was some discord in the harmony between trainer and pokemon."
"So you noticed something was off too," Milo confirmed with Piers before shaking his head and looking back to the tsareea, "There's no trainer to be found. This is a mystery wrapped up in an enigma." He shook his head again. "Oh well. I'll make sure Turffield Gym takes good care of this pokemon for the time being. You lot helped me out here. Thanks for that. Oh! And Piers." The rocker hummed at him. "If you should ever need my help feel free to call me anytime!" Piers nodded back to him and Milo took a moment to look at Victor before reaching into his pocket and pulling out something to hold out to him. "Here. A small token of my thanks." Victor blinked before he accepted it from Milo with a smile and thanks from himself. "No need to thank me. ..I think in the meantime I should take this little tsareena over to the pokemon center in case something's still wrong with it."
Piers nodded at him again. "That's probably for the best. Wouldn't want the lil thing too banged up from us givin' it that thrashing."
Milo smiled at him before turning to all of you. "Excuse me. I gotta get going. All right then. Follow me little Tsareena." And politely side stepped around your group to walk back out towards the door leading out of the gym. The pokemon following behind matching Milo's orders. Although he did stop and looked back to you which made you blink."And M-M-Miss Y/n.....I-.." He looked as if he wanted to confess something but stopped himself last minute. "Ijustwantedtosaysorryokbye!!"
He quickly mumbled before turning on his heel and speed walking away pulling his hat over his face confusing everyone there before Victor looked at Hop. "What the bloody heck was that about?"
"Oh I think I know."
He wasn't surprised that you all were gone by the time he came back. Even Piers was but oh well. Things happened and he'd reschedule another match with Piers later. Time passed, the tsareena was later released back into the wild safely and everything returned back to normal for the most part. However a month or two later would throw him for a loop. Felix had come up to him one day to deliver some strange but not too surprising news.
"Hey. You remember Old Man Jenkins? He's finally sold his house."
Milo had looked up from the potatoes he was pulling up to look at him. "Oh really? That's great!"
"The new neighbor just moved in! I think we should go say hi considering they're so close to us. That way they won't be so mad if your wooloo crashes into their property."
Milo huffed but that wasn't a too bad idea. "That sounds like the kind thing to do. Alright. First thing tomorrow morning we'll go over and say hi!"
So that's exactly what they did. First thing the next day the two brothers, armed with a giant gift basket of fruits, veggies, and baked goods walked right up to the house and knocked right on the door. However when footsteps approached. When the door opened. When a face smiled at them. He nearly dropped the basket in shock
Applin Of My Eye Ch3 An Unexpected Reunion P2
Tumblr media
The day had been good so far.
Turrffield was a town of peace and quiet. Most of the time it was anyways. Unless some of his wooloo got out, or if he was battling at his local gym. Otherwise it was pretty peaceful, which was how he liked it most of the time. Nothing could beat the way the breeze quietly blew through the fields and the wooloos cutely baaed their own language as they played in the fields. That day had been no different, when he had gotten up bright and early and started the day by making breakfast for himself and Felix. They had a lot to do today so they were going to need a good meal to start off. Speaking of said little brother- Smaller footsteps came from upstairs and got closer and closer until Felix appeared bounding down the stairs and into the kitchen.
"Morning Milo!," Felix greeted with a smiling as he walked right up to him, attracted to the sight, smell, and sounds of sizzling sausage and eggs. "I see you got breakfast already done."
He gave a smile of his own back to his baby brother. "Hahaha! Actually you're just in time for me to serve it to you." The pan with said food was lifted off the stove top as Milo turned to the table, spatula in the other hand.
"Oh yum!" Felix wasted no time to jump into the nearest chair with a plate set in front of it just in time for Milo to push some of the desired food on it with a tilt of his pan.
It made his brother chuckle. "Careful. It's hot since I just took it off the stove. Hows the online classes coming along?"
"Just fine! I got a B back from the history exam we did the other day."
"That's great, Felix! You're making great progress on everything. I'm proud of you! Make sure you eat up. We have a lot of work to get done this weekend."
Felix gave him a look grabbing the fork. "What's on the agenda this time, Mi?"
"Oh lots of things. We have to clean out the barn, store the hay bails in the barn once we clean it, and we have to sheer the wooloo's tomorrow so we can ship it off. It's going to be a lot of work to get done in two days but I'm sure we can get it done if we work together."
Felix nodded before pausing. "Hey. Milo." His brother hummed. "Has-..H-Has anyone called about Daisy yet?"
It was Milo's turn to pause before giving a sad frown. "Oh. Sorry, Felix. No one's seen her yet, but don't worry. She'll pop up soon! I know it!"
Felix's expression didn't look up from his uneaten food. "...I miss her Milo. I really do."
"I know, Buddy. I do too." He hummed. "...Tell you what. It shouldn't take us too long to get the barn ready and hay stored. As soon as we're done with that we can go look for her again. How does that sound?"
"Y-Yeah. I think I'd like that a lot."
"That's the spirit! Go ahead and eat up. The sooner we finish, the sooner we can take a look around town again."
Poor Felix. He's been upset ever since his little wooloo buddy ran off almost three months ago. He suspected Daisy slipped through the hole he discovered in the fence that day, but none of Milo's wooloo were missing so it was hard to say. Since then they've been doing everything they could think of to find the special wooloo. Missing posters, asking around, combing through the woods, and he even went a while step further and contacted his league friends asking that if any shiny wooloo was spotted near them to contact him immediately. But so far nothing had come up, which was starting to make him worry a bit. But there really wasn't anything they could do but keep and eye out and keep looking until she was eventually found. Hopefully it'd be soon so Felix wouldn't worry for much longer. However he had no idea how soon they're prayers would be answered.
The barn itself wasn't too hard to clean. Just move a few things around and use a firm broom to sweep away any dirt and stray wooloo fur. The real challenge would be to roll all those hay bails inside to store for later use. That's where he came in. He had a much easier time rolling the giant heavy bails from their random spots on the field and over into the barn, in the meantime Felix busied himself doing other things like watering the crops and feeding the herd of wooloo as he wasn't strong enough yet to move such heavy hay bails like Milo. He will one day, but until then Milo won't let him do any of the dangerous heavy lifting. Things were coming along real fast. If they kept this up, they'd be all done before noon even hit! He was already down to one of the last hay bails anyways when Felix came quickly bounding back up to his side.
"I'm all finished with everything else. Can we go look now?"
"There's only a few bails left for me to move. We can go looking as soon as I'm done."
"Can't you do the rest of them when we come back?"
" By then it'll be too late for anymore work, Felix. And I don't want you going off searching by yourself and getting lost. Just be patient for a few more minutes. Ok?"
Felix deflated but it would be better for him to wait for Milo to finish so they can look around together. The last thing he wanted was for Felix to get lost or hurt himself trying to search for his missing  wooloo. He wouldn't be too long now anyways, just a few more hay bails and he'd be all done-
"Excuse me!"
He paused mid roll. What was-
"You in the field!" Both Milo and Felix looked over and we're surprised to see what appeared to be a woman standing by their fence waving an arm at them. What the? Who was that? "I think I found your missing wooloo!"
Those few words sparked them into pausing at that. Wha- A MISSING WOOLOO?! THEIRS?! He was pretty sure that none of his herd had gotten out again. The woman was too far away to clearly make out who it was, but the voice sounded oddly.... familiar. Was she one of the locals maybe? Wait. What was that small thing right next to her?
"DAISY!!"
He nearly jumped from the volume of Felix's voice before his brother with the speed of a rapidash on a sugar high took off towards the fence and whoever it was. The last thing you really expected was the teen dropping anything his hands right then and there before charging right at you or the fact that you would  suddenly found yourself falling over. Landing flat on your back. Looking up at the sky from the ground as a brown blur bowled you over by ramming into your legs and continued on pawing at the fence happily giving out the loudest baas you'd ever heard. Felix never wasted any time hopping the fence like a desperate kangastan and running right up to the brown baaing blur arms outstretched.
"DAISY!!"
"Oh my Arceus!" Milo's mouth dropped in shock as he just literally watched someone go flying by getting knocked over by a wooloo. Of course he went running right over, one hand clutching his hat. "Oh no. Oh no. Hey Miss! Are you ok?!"
You laid there dazed for a good while just staring up at the fluffy white clouds going across the sky as your brain was slowly processing what exactly happened. ...Huh. You must've hit your head harder than it felt because the sky looked a lot like Silver all of a sudden. It even chirped at you just like him and a pink hand rapidly patted your face. It took you a good few moments to realize that it WAS Silver standing over you and patting your face.
"...Ow." You groaned slowly prying yourself off the ground to prop yourself up on your elbows, brain catching up to you finally. "I'm gonna feel that in the morning. Remind me to never turn by back on a wooloo again, Sil." Silver chirped at you. You groaned blinking your f/c eyes for a moment at some strange noises but paused at what you witnessed.
"Hey, Lady!! Are you ok over there?!" Milo called out again as he quickly got closer and closer, more worried the longer the woman didn't answer. Oh no. Did she get knocked out? Would he have to call a flying ambulance?! He finally reached the fence hand grabbing onto the white wooden fence, panting. He saw she had sat up and her eyes were open (thank Arceus) but she was stone still. "Are you alright?! That looked like a hard fall you took!" She remained silent. "Hey! Why aren't you answering? Are you hurt?! I need to know-" he glanced over. "-so I...can..."
He stopped and stared at the sight of Felix, his little baby brother, was sitting there crosslegged slightly rocking back and forth with soft sobs escaping his mouth. Wrapped up tight in his arms was a wooloo who he knew all too well, she was baaing absolutely happy and waving her little legs around not minding at all that there was a kid death hugging her with his face half way smooshed into her brown wool. If he looked hard enough he could even see a few makings of tears rolling down his exposed cheek. He stared at the sight before him. Slowly letting the scene sink in.
"....Daisy?" The wooloo turned to him hearing her name and based in greeting to him. "Daisy! It is you!" An instant smiled appeared on his face and with one strong hop, kicked himself over the fence the same way Felix did. "Hey girl! Where have you been?" Daisy only baaed happily and eagerly accepted the head Pat's Milo gave him. "But you're here and you're alright!" He blinked. "...And you've been...sheered?"
"Yeah. Sorry about that." He blinked back over when someone grunted and saw you were slowly picking yourself up off the ground and slowly stretching your body out, your back giving a few small pops. Yep. You were definitely going to be feeling that tomorrow morning. With a groan your hands rubbed your back with a hiss escaping your lips. "She was pretty roughed up when my friends found her so we kinda had to fix a few things." You waved as he blinked. "She's lost some wool and she's a bit under weight but I think she's ok. Ow."
Milo froze. The wheels whirling in his mind until it stopped and he lit up in both the color pink and realization. "I-...I-I-Its you!"
You nodded. "It's me. Hey there, Milo. It's good to see you again."
His cru- I mean the lady that saved Galar?! Here?! What was she doing here?! But most importantly -
"A-Are you alright?", He asked holding out a hand. "That looked like a hard fall you t-t-took there. I know wooloo are a lot stronger than people think."
You waved him off. "Nah. I'm fine. It's not the worst thing that's happened to me, and it's not the first time I've gotten bowled over by a wooloo either."
"Oh Arceus. Don't remind me." He frowned guiltily. "And again sorry for that. And sorry Daisy knocked you over like that."
"Daisy?"
Milo gestured to the shiny wooloo as Felix sniffed and finally looked up at the newcomer. "She's my little brother's pokemon, but she went missing a few months ago. We've been looking for her everywhere. Where did you find her?"
"Found her in Postwick." You pointed at Daisy. "Then we just cleaned her up and followed the address on her collar there."
"Postwick? How'd she get all the way there?" That was a good distance away from Turrffield even. He shook his head starting to calm down from his shock over everything now. "Well I guess that doesn't matter. What's important is that she's back safe and sound now." He smiled again. "And I can't thank you enough, but are you sure you're alright?"
"Believe me. I'm perfectly fine, plus I'm used to this by now with everything I've been through. But I did want to ask you about something -"
He held up a hand. "I know exactly what that is."
You blinked before raising a brow. "Wait. Really?"
"Yes, but I should really finish putting the hay away." He politely gestured to the farmhouse behind him. "Why don't you go inside and have a rest and I'll get right back to you." He hummed before turning to Felix who just stood back up still sniffling. "Hey. You go ahead and have a break too. Ok? I'm sure Daisy's hungry from her trip so why don't you go feed her?"
Felix sniffled but nodded and went back to cuddling into Daisy's wool before turning....Felix? OH!! FELIX!! THAT WAS THE NAME ON THE COLLAR!! Daisy must've belonged to Milo's little brother all along.
"Felix will show you inside. I'll be there as soon as I get the rest of the hay bails in the barn. It shouldn't take more than twenty minutes."
"Oh..." You smiled making him blink. "Thanks! That's really kind of you."
He coughed but nodded before quickly turning away to hop back over the fence and quickly walking back over to the remaining few bails. You slowly turned back to the house and just saw Felix staring at you from the doorway. Guess he was waiting for you. Slowly, you walked all the way up to stand on the porch, and it was only then did Felix turned, sniffled, and shuffled to hold Daisy under one arm to open the door.
"C-C'mon in," Felix said nodding his head to the inside.
"I will thanks."
With Silver waddling at your feet, you followed Felix into the house and...It did NOT look at all like you were expecting. You were expecting a farm house to have all kinds of rustic furniture or country styled decor hanging up everywhere or even a rocking chair somewhere but you saw none of that. All the furniture looked some state of new-ish and not rustic hand me down oldies you were expecting. Honestly it looked and felt more like Hop's house except everything has some kind of green and white color scheme. But then again what were you expecting from a grass type gym leader? Speaking of which there was plenty of grass type Pokemon decor around here along with a lot of wooloo things too. A wooloo shaped cookie jar. A petili  themed plant pot on the shelf there. And even the sofa in the living room had eldegoss looking throw pillows. Ah. Wasn't that one of Milo's pokemon? Felix went ahead and plopped himself down on an armchair still refusing to Iet go of Daisy and just nodded politely to the sofa.
"Y-You can sit there if you'd like, Miss."
"Thank you. And you can just call me Y/n. It's easier that way." You took him up on his offer and sat down across from him. "So... That's your wooloo huh?"
He nodded and for the first time since you got there saw him smile. "Y-Yeah. *Sniff* She's my favorite pokemon."Daisy happily baaed as she was pulled tighter against the boy. "Y-You have no idea how worried I w-was about her. I thought I'd never see her again."
"I imagine it must've been a rough time. I know I'd feel the same way if I ever lost Silver here." Said drizzlie just sighed and flopped face first on the floor. Felix sniffled again as you watched. "...Here." In a swift motion, you reached into a pocket on your shirt and pulled out a handkerchief before extending it to Felix whom blinked surprised at you. "I always carry some with me since Silver's a messy eater, but you can have this one."
Felix stared at it before smiling again and taking it from you. "T-Thanks."
"It's my pleasure. It's also good to see you again too." He blinked confused from behind wiping his eyes. "We saw each other last year. Don't you remember me? I was the one who babysat everyone at the Champion Cup."
A flash of realization crossed his face. "Ooohh. I remember you. You're the one that gave my brother and I those keychains and free food last Christmas." You smiled. "You also got ran over by Willy. Sorry about that."
"...Willy?"
"He was the wooloo that escaped that day. Gave my brother a run for his money. Wooloo's are always finding new ways to escape around here. Milo's chasing them through town all the time."
Milo named his wooloo? You sighed. "It's alright. Things happen. But I haven't seen you since last year. Congratulations on making it to the semifinals by the way. It must've been a tough ride."
Felix groaned. "Don't remind me. I had to fight Kabe ten times and Raihan thirty two times before I even got through, and then I barely made it time to qualify for the finals! Everyone went through like a breeze."
"You still did a great job. Don't knock your hard work! You got really far."
"Thank you. It was great to be there even if I did lose the first match. The Champion's brother is a real good fighter too so I guess that runs in their family.''
You nodded. Hop was a good fighter, and you briefly remembered watching him fight against Felix in the semifinals before Hop ultimately won. Felix had still put up a good fight however. You remembered the last time you saw the brothers was when you were forced into a babysitting gig-
knocking.....MORE. KNOCKING!!! Came from the door again drawing a few people attention as you looked on over and stared blankly. Until another knock came and you sighed as whoever it was just opened the door, and you prayed it was FINALLY Leon-...Nope. You stared as not one but SEVEN people walked in. And your jaw dropped a bit when seeing who it was exactly. Milo and Melony!! What the heck were those two doing here? Didn't they have to worry about their battle next? ...You got your answer as five children walked in with them. Three of them, boys all around Allister's age, giggled like little maniacs as they rushed in and ran straight for the chairs set up by the windows.
"Wha- Hey! Watch where you're going!," Bede barked as the three ignored him immediately clambering up the chairs only to press their hands and faces on the windows looking out at the repair team and crowds below.
You blinked as you stared at them, the three all had hair ranging from blonde to blondish-white hair and all with blue eyes. ...They looked a bit similar to Gordie actually.
"Boys! Where are your manners? Be nice to the other kids."
You looked back towards the sound of the voice and saw that Melony was giving the three a frown as a girl stood next to her. She looked around the same age as Gloria, only like Melony she sported snow white hair and the same blue eyes as her and the boys. Were they related? The girl looked slightly embarrassed but next to her was Milo and standing right beside him was a boy also around the same age as Hop and Gloria. You blinked at first thinking you were seeing double as this boy could easily pass for a much younger Milo. But the boy looked different too. Both had the same pink hair and green eyes, but compared to Milo the boy had darker green eyes and lighter pink hair, and no freckles were on his face which was something Milo had that he didn't. Everyone was staring at the commotion that had once again walked in through the door and inevitably as the two grown ups looked around, Milo eventually spotted you staring back at them confused and shocked from the couch. He smiled back widely and gave a wave towards you.
Hello!," he greeted catching Melony's attention over to you too as you stared. "Um. So sorry to barge in like this. Definitely not our intention." He have a sheepish smile. "But we heard from Raihan you were watching everyone's children up here for them." He hand came down to pat the smaller him on the shoulder. "My brother's visiting the city today and I think he'll be better off here out of the way. I'm kinda busy at the moment with things."
"As am I." Melony sighed before placing her hands on her hips in the way only a tired mother could. "I can't ask Gordie to just watch them and I hate letting my little frostlings out of my sight. Can't turn my back for one second and their trying to climb a wall like a Bug-type."
Raihan. Of course!! That guy just had to go on and blab about this to the others. You scowled in annoyance. "Im gonna put out that dragon's fire next time I see him."
"...Pardon?"
"Uh..Nothing." You looked back to them with a small smile. "Let me guess. You guys want me to watch these little guys too?"
Aren't you a bit.." Milo gave a look over all the other kids already there. "...Booked? Maybe this wasn't a good idea after all. You look like you already got your hands full in here."
"What other choice do we have?", Melony asked looking back at him. "I can't just leave them in the stands by themselves? Elsa can't watch all the boys by herself, and Gordie's not an option either. It's either this or we'll both have to forfeit the match."
"I know. I know. It's just-"
"I can do it." They both looked back to you smiling and standing from the couch to face them. "It'd be no problem since I've babysat before."
They both looked to you before Milo asked unsure, "Are you sure? I mean Felix won't be any trouble, but we don't want to over burden you."
You waved him off. "Nah it's fine. You guys can just leave them here and pick them up after the finals are over."
Long story short...You went from five kids to watching ten now. Sigh. The triplets and their older sister immediately took attention to the window at least. Everyone seemed too distracted to really pay attention to you as you waited for your ramen to cook. You didn't even know Milo and Gordie were big brothers too.
"Ok Felix. Watch closely and learn how your big bro does things."
And then the whole Rose revived Eternatus thing happened and you had to leave everyone with Mrs. Opal to catch up with your friends. You hoped Milo wasn't angry about that. You didn't think he was Considering he never mentioned it so you guessed he was ok with what happened. But you made a mental note to apologize to him for that later anyways.
"Sorry for bailing back there anyways. I had an emergency I had to take care of."
"You guys saved an entire region, so I think I can understand the situation."
You were about to ask him another question but was interrupted by the sounds of the front door opening and closing. You both looked up and a moment later none other than Milo himself walked into the living room. Upon seeing the two of you he smiled.
"Thanks for waiting. Sorry again if it took so long," he apologized.
"No it's alright. Felix was keeping me company, but what I really wanted to ask about was th-"
"Of course. After all I did advertise it in the missing posters." He didn't let you say another word before reaching into a pants pocket and pulling out a wallet.
"What are you doing?"
"The reward money. I promised three hundred dollars to anyone who found Daisy." He opened the wallet.
"I don't want that."
He paused just as he was reaching into said wallet before blinking. "What?"
"I said I DON'T want your money." You pointed back at him. "Put your wallet away and keep your money."
He blinked. "W-What? But I did promise it to whoever brought Daisy home."
"I didn't even know about any reward money!", You insisted holding your hands up, "I brought Daisy to the address on her collar because I assumed she was lost. Even if I knew about any reward money I still wouldn't accept anything because it was the right thing to do. I'm glad Daisy's back but that doesn't mean I'll take your money."
"Well-...I-" He looked a bit lost between his wallet and your face. "..W-Well at least let me give you some money for your troubles. Traveling all the way from Postwick and getting knocked over by our wooloo should at least earn you a hundred doll-"
"Milo!," You sternly cut him off with a frown, "I appreciate the gesture but Im NOT gonna take even a penny from you. I don't want your money at all. What I did was my own choice because it was simply the right thing to do. If I want money I can go out and work for it. You shouldn't have to pay me for making sure your Pokemon's home. If you just give me money anyways, I'll just give it right back." You stood now and reaching over, you took the wallet from Milo only to close it and put it back in the stunned farmers hands. "So please just put your wallet away. It's perfectly fine."
You then made Milo's hand close around the wallet....and his green eyes went from your face and your hands holding his..before his face lit up a bright pink. Felix went wide eyed at his brother's reaction to the woman... before a sly idea went across his face. So the small teen coughed making Milo jump and you both look at him.
"*ahem* Well golly, Miss. We sure do appreciate you went out of your way to do for us. What will you be doing now?"
You finally let go of Milo's hand. "I'll be resting for the rest of today then head on back home tomorrow morning."
"Oh, I see. Where will ya be staying?"
"I have a tent and sleeping bag. I'll just camp out tonight."
"Well..Why don't you stay here for the night?"
You both stared at him. "What?"
"You don't want any money which is all fine and dandy, but we'd still like to pay you back. So why don't you spend the night here and have dinner with us?"
"Oh. No. I couldn't ask you all to do that."
"It'd be no problem!" Felix smiled. "Milo's a great cook, and you can stay in the guest room! We wouldn't mind. Do we Milo?"
"Huh? O-Oh." He cleared his throat quickly and looked away. "I d-don't mind a bit. *Ahem* Of course you're free to stay if you wish. I-It would be no problem. I W-Wont force you to stay if you don't want to however. You're free to do a-as you wish."
You stood there for a moment thinking about it. "Well..I guess it would be nice to sleep in a bed before I'm forced to camp again and sleep on train seats. But there's one thing I'd like to check out in Turrffield tho. Do any of you know about the house for sale just up the road?"
Milo looked too busy fumbling with the green scarf around his neck nervously so Felix nodded. "That's the old Jenkins place. It's been up for sale for a while now but no one really wants to do business with that grouchy rude raisin."
"F-Felix! Be nice. O-Old Man Jenkins can't help it if he's a -a little under the weather most of time."
"Thanks. I'll keep that in mind when I go check out that place. I'll.. probably be back before it gets too dark but I'll see."
"Y-Yeah! You do that! T-T-Take your time!" He floundered as you excused yourself and saw yourself out Silver in tow.
As soon as the door closed behind her Felix turned to Milo's still red face giving the smugest of looks only a little brother could. "Woooow. You could not have made your crush anymore obvious, Bro."
Now usually one would deny such accusations or tell their little brother to shut it, but Milo only sighed and didn't even try to deny it. Felix would only see right through him anyways. He never was good at hiding these things. "Y-You really think so?"
"Uh. Lemme check. Blushing and looking like you're about to pass out any moment while talking to her? Yep! That's obvious I-totally-have-a-crush-on-you 101 right there. She was probably just too polite to say anything or thought she might've accidentally embarrassed you when she refused the money." Milo groaned again a hand reached up to rub his face. "Hey. Don't beat yourself up, Mi. It's normal to like someone. But ain't that the same girl who gave you free food last Christmas?"
He nodded with a sigh. GOSH!! Y/N WAS SO NICE!! IT MADE HIS HEART MELT!! "Yes. A-And she helped save Galar and Leon so-so... she's pretty good hearted. That's probably why she turned down the money."
"Oh. Well anyone who gives us free food and returns wooloo's is good enough for you in my books."Daisy let out a happy baa which made Felix smile. "Oh. Your welcome by the way."
Milo rose a brow puzzled. "Your welcome for what?"
"I got her to come over for dinner. You can make a good impression on her that way. After all they say the fastest way to a person's heart is through their stomach."
He almost fainted right then and there but managed to only instead make a funny choke noise that made Felix laugh. However things didn't really go through as Felix would've liked for his big brother. She did return around dinner time and Felix was the one to show her in and too the table which already had food set on it. Felix also made an effort to impress her by thinking of setting aside some generic pokemon food for her drizzlie which Felix gladly let Milo take all the credit and wasn't afraid to tell her so.
"Milo's really considerate. That's why everyone in Turrffield likes him so much! Oh wow. He even got your Pokemon some food too. Ain't he amazing?!"
Even when dinner was served and everyone was given the sweet apple curry Milo ended up making, Felix couldn't help but put his big brother in the spotlight.
"Did you know this entire dish is home made? And everything on this plate was hand grown right here in Turrffield?"
"Oh really?"
"Yeah! A lot of it's from our very own farm! Milo's REALLY great at providing things. And he's REALLY good at cooking."
Milo choked on an apple slice but Y/n only looked amused. "Oh really?"
"Uh huh! Any vegetarian curry you can think of! Bean medley curry, mushroom medley curry, plenty-of-potato curry, leek curry, apple curry, herb medley, salad curry, coconut curry- But his absolute BEST is tropical curry! He can make it taste so sweet that it's practically a desert! He memorized the recipe because it's my favorite. Did I mention how selfless and kind he was?"
Milo ended up tilting his hat down to hide how red faced he was. He did try to stop him, really he did but his throat felt so tight that all he could do was make a sound like he was dying but managed to save any embarrassment by covering it up with a cough.  Although that still didn't stop Felix was talking Milo up to you. You thought it was absolutely adorable and knew EXACTLY what was going on. While you did feel a bit bad for how embarrassed Milo was, you couldn't help but be amused by how much Felix was trying to obviously Wingman for his big brother.
"Did I mention he's strong?! Milo can push up to seven hundred and seventy pounds easily! That's like almost eight hundred pounds! And did I mention that not only is he a gym leader but he owns his own land and makes a lot of money from both farming and the pokemon league? I don't like to brag, but Milo's also in charge of the entire town of Turrffield. He might as well just own everything here. He also knows how to grow his own food... Did I already mention he was a great provider?!"
"...Felix..." Both of you looked up as Milo did not dare remove his hat but slightly pointed at him and spoke in a voice barely over a whisper. "I think it's time f-for bed..."
"Wha- But I didn't get to tell her about the time you saved a little kid from a charging mudsdale! Did I mention he's heroic and kind and always helps others?!"
You giggled and nodded. "Yes, but it is getting late. I think I'll go to sleep now if that's alright."
"Oh sure! The guest room is right upstairs. You can't miss it since it's the only one that has a white door. I can show you if you want! Milo even fixed it up for you! Isn't he considerate?"
"It's alright." You tried and failed not to giggle as you stood up. "Thank you for the food, Milo. It really was good. Good night."
Milo could only give a small hum from under his hat as you left, and Felix didn't speak again until he heard the guest room door upstairs close behind you. "I think that went well! She kept smiling and laughing!"
Milo's forehead met the table in embarrassment.
He guessed he should've felt relief when he woke up the next day and found out she had already left before he could apologize and offer to make her breakfast before she left, even if he did feel a bit hurt at her gone. But he understood. Postwick was a long ways away, even by train or taxi it would take a bit to get back. So it would be good to get a head start. However he would see her again but not until later when there was a disturbance at his gym. The entire small community of Turrffield was literally shaken awake  by a random dynamaxed pokemon that just happened to cut into a scheduled exhibition match between himself and Piers. They both had fled but not before making sure everyone had evacuated safely. However he wasn't expecting for two other people to show up-
"Hey! Mr. Milo!"
They both turned around and Piers spoke. "Hm? You're-..." He stopped. Blue eyes raising a surprised brow.
Milo however was just confused turning to the two of you just as you and Victor stopped in front of them, then he turned surprised, and held up his hands. "H-Hey! I'm sorry but you two can't be here right now. We're in a bit of an emergency we have to take care of."
"Hey, Hot Pink," you greeted Piers with a smile towards Piers who after a moment eventually sighed and shook his head.
Hah. How carefree can you be? There's an emergency goin' on 'ere and you're bargin' in here like ya own the place."
"Hey. We just got here actually...And what the heck is going on anyways?"
"I was actually in the middle of an exhibition match with Piers," Milo explained making you all look at him. "But then this dynamax pokemon came charging in out of no where. In was like a third party just dynamaxed a wild pokemon and sicked it on us in there. Very strange."
Both you and Victor looked at one another. Meanwhile Milo's thoughts were speeding through a mike a minute. Y/n?! Why was she here?! When did she get here?! Was there a connection to what had just happened?! Stop beating already heart!!
"The audience and staff already took shelter," Piers spoke making you look at him, "It was too dangerous to keep anyone in the stadium while that thing was rampagin'. Which begs the question why are the two of you 'ere? It's like every time there's trouble you're not far behind."
You went to go answer him and maybe ask if either of them had seen any trace of Hop, but before you could there was another shake followed by a loud cry that you both had heard on your way there but now being much closer it had everyone shaking and holding their arms out to avoid getting tripped up and falling to the ground before it stopped again with you all wobbling but standing thankfully. WHAT. WAS. THAT!? Was that the dynamax pokemon they mentioned before? Must've been. What else could've made that noise and rumble? You couldn't ask them anything yet before the door in front of the gym leaders opened and someone stepped out in front of them.
"I got everyone who was seated on the north side of the stadium evacuated!," a familiar voice panted out, making you two look up, "You must've heard right? More dynamax pokemon are running amok!"
"Much obliged, Hop!," Milo thanked the boy in front of him, "I'd expect nothing left from a gym challenger. I knew we could count on you!"
"I lost in the semifinals though-"
"HOP!!" Milo yelped as he was shoved aside and you pushed past him in order to see Hop. And sure enough he was right there. Startling he had jumped back from you shoving your way in front of him and he blinked.
"Ah! ....Y/n? ACK!"
You grabbed him by the shoulders. "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!? Don't you realize how dangerous that was chasing after thieves by yourself!? I thought we were done doing that after the Hammerlocke fiasco! You had us scared half to freaking death!"
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry!," he apologized holding up his hands with a wince, "I just-...I couldn't let them get away with the stolen shield!"
.....You sighed. "It's...ok. But you are NOT doing that again! We don't know what those guys are capable of. Promise?" He nodded and you sighed again letting your hands lift from his shoulder. "Good." Thank Arceus he was ok. That was the most important part. "What are you even doing here?"
"I chased those red and blue guys and saw them head into Turffield Stadium," Hop explained to you still with that apologetic face, "The I heard the uproar and there was no way I could leave it alone! I had to help out.'' He did that family move of rubbing the back of his neck. "So..er...Sorry. I lost sight of them in all the rush."
Those guys with the crazy hair were here? What the world were they doing here?
Milo hummed with a frown. "Those suspicious characters you saw are concerning. But for now, I think we should get this dynamax pokemon to settle down first." He then turned to Victor who blinked. "I'd be glad for your help against a tough looking opponent though. You mind lending a hand?" Victor who seemed surprised ...but nodded. "Alright! Then let's head to the pitch!"
"I'll lend a hand too," Piers jabbed in, "I don't blame the pokemon 'f course, but I'm still just a bit miffed they upstaged me." He then paused before looking over at Hop who blinked at him. "You come too, Bro Of The Champion."
He blinked. "Huh? Who me?" He pointed at himself and Piers nodded. He immediately gave a face and held up his hands. "I don't know how much I can really help. ...If I come along.." He slowly lowered his hands looking down. "I might just end up slowing the rest of you down."
"Aren't ya the one who beat me in one single go?"
Hop blinked looking back up at Piers and you looked at him too a bit confused. "Uh...What?"
Hop blinked looking back up at Piers and you looked at him too a bit confused. "Uh...What?"
"I said...Didn't ya beat me back in the gym challenge in one try?" ..Confused Hop nodded. "An' ya were one of the only three trainers good enough to get into the semifinals in the first place and defeat multiple gym leaders. Right?" Hop nodded again and Piers hummed. "Hm. I'd say that makes you pretty capable o' bein' in battle. I don't really know the guy, but I don't think Leon'd be all lost about this. Though he does actually get lost a lot..." You and Hop both stared wide eyed at the rockstar because...Did Piers literally just compliment Hop over Leon's experience in this?? He turned giving a gesture to the door you assumed lead into the stadium. "You comin'?"
"Uh.....OK!" Hop smiled a little agreeing.
"Right!," You agreed with a nod. You guys had to calm down that pokemon by the looks of it. "Let's get this show on the road."
"Y/n? Are ya sure?" You turned to Victor who gave a worried face. You guessed your confusion must've shown because he pointed at you. "Ye said you've never been in a battle before. Dontcha think this..I dunno...Might be a bad idea to do as you're first experience battlin'?"
Milo paused...and slowly looked to you as you shook your head at Victor. "Well..maybe not but Silver has battle experience from you guys borrowing him all those times. I'm sure if I just give him a few basic directions he can improvise the rest. What choice do we have?"
"You can just let us take care o' it. M' sure between us and the gym leaders, we'll bring that pokemon down faster than Milo's wooloo bowlin' ya over."
You frowned a little bit at the memory of that before saying. "Victor, I'll be fine. I'm going to help-"
"Oh no you're not!" You practically jumped whirling around and coming face to face with Milo who frowned. "That's putting your pokemon in danger if you're seriously under-experienced and a good way to get hurt!" he shook his head. "And you haven't been in a battle before? NO. No, no! This!" His hands came up to gesture between you and the door. "Is not happening. Too many risks."
You scowled back at him hands on your hips. "I'm tired of standing on the sidelines while everyone else does all the hard work around here! I want to HELP!"
"You can help by standing here and keeping watch?," Victor suggested.
"Yeah! If those weird haired guys are still around, we'll need someone to keep a look out for them just in case they try to slip away when we're not looking!," Hop piped up happily.
Milo pointed at him like he agreed. "That's smart thinking! Problem solved! You're not going in there!" He gestured at you almost annoyed. "You already got run over twice on my watch. I'm not going to allow you to be hurt again with something that's my responsibility."
You deepened your frown. "You can't tell me what to do! If you want me to stay here then you can make me!"
Piers, Victor, and Hop all looked at one another. Milo blinked CLEARLY taken aback at what you said eyes widening. "W-What?"
"I said if you don't want me in there you'll have to make me!"
Milo and you stared at one another for a long moment..before sighed  "Alright but I didn't want to have to do this." And he suddenly leaned down which confused you.
"What are you- EEEEEEKKK!?"
A girly high pitched squeal left you as all of a sudden two arms wrapped around your middle body, one around your lower back and the other around the back of your legs. In one hard pull, you fell forward and your body fell against another person's shoulder and back and you went up, up, up! And you found yourself in the embarrassing situation of having been literally thrown over Milo's shoulder by Milo himself. He easily lifted your entire weight as he stood up and held you firmly enough to keep you from fighting back before he began walking off towards one of the couches Milo following behind.
"MILO?," you shouted voice nearly cracking. Your face EXPLODED RED from the sheer embarrassment of it all. Your hands flew to grab the back of his shirt to help keep balance as you shouted. "P-PUT ME DOWN!! IM PRETTY SURE YOU CAN'T DO THIS!!"
"You said to make you and I am. I don't think I want to see you hurt again if I can prevent it,'' he replied back calmly much to your annoyance.
"What do you mean!? I have to help protect them!"
"I'll make sure they're both fine. YOU just need to take it easy for a bit."
Wha- OOF!" You stopped when you were suddenly leaned forward and harmlessly dropped back down onto the couch staring at him as he leaned back up to his usual height as he still looked down at you completely still calm.
"PLEASE." He held up his hands. "Stay here. I seriously don't want to see you hurt anymore, and frankly...I'm going to prevent anyone from getting' hurt. You need ta stay here and stay safe." You opened your mouth but stopped when he gently grabbed your shoulder. "I'm not letting' anyone get hurt.Especially you."
You sat there silent for a moment before he felt confident enough you wouldn't follow them stunned before Milo spoke.
"Don't worry," you looked at him as he assured you, "Piers might look scary, but he's great at looking after others. He's a big brother after all. And to be fair it would be probably safer for you in you stayed here too. I promise it won't take too long."....You sighed leaning back into your seat at his response. "Alright. We should get going too. I'll bring those kids back to you as soon as the battle's over. Ok?"
...Thanks, Mr. Milo. Appreciate it."
He smiled at you before turning and you watched them all go into the stadium after Piers one after the other before the door closed behind them...and you flopped back against the couch. MAN. All you wanted to do was help but-.....Sigh. But Piers made some good points. You never battled before outside video games and you had no experience on the battle field yourself. You couldn't risk making a mistake like that. So...You must sat there with Silver who hoped onto the couch next to you and just flopped onto his side exhausted from walking around so much. You just wished you could help out more. You sat there hearing the ensuing battling taking place and clinging to the couch every time the stadium shook from the battle which carried on for a good ten to fifthteen minutes as you waited with baited breath. No one really came in or out during that time anyways which might've been a blessing as you didn't want to really deal with anyone else at the moment. With one last final shake and cry it all ended. You waited for a couple moments waiting for some kind of response but none came. The only thing that came after a minute or two was the door opening and the boys all filing out. You immediately stood up and jogged on over to them as they came out. THANK ARCEUS THE BOYS WERE ALRIGHT! The only thing that looked off about then was Victor rubbing some dirt from his hat.
"Are you guys ok?," you shouted coming to a stop right in front of them all.
Hop nodded. "Yeah! Even with the four of us that battle was hard to win. Good thing we managed to beat that pokemon huh?"
You opened your mouth to say something before Milo walked up with something next to him. "Phew....Looks like things have finally calmed down a bit." He smiled with a Tsareena next to him who made a noise.
Piers next to him sighed and shook his head. "This dynamax stuff...No matter how many times I see it I don't like it."
"I see your dislike of dynamaxing still hasn't changed, Piers. "...The grass type gym leader turned back to the pokemon with a hum. "But there was definitely something off about that dynamax transformation."
Off? How could a dynamaxing giant pokemon be off- "There wasn't any trainer anywhere!" You turned to Hop. "And the pokemon itself seemed like it couldn't even control the power itself."
Milo nodded at him. "Quite right, Hop."
You looked at him confused. "..Huh? Do you wanna fill me in on what I missed?"
"Normally a pokemon needs to respond to a dynamax band in order to dynamax but-"
Seems there was some discord in the harmony between trainer and pokemon."
"So you noticed something was off too," Milo confirmed with Piers before shaking his head and looking back to the tsareea, "There's no trainer to be found. This is a mystery wrapped up in an enigma." He shook his head again. "Oh well. I'll make sure Turffield Gym takes good care of this pokemon for the time being. You lot helped me out here. Thanks for that. Oh! And Piers." The rocker hummed at him. "If you should ever need my help feel free to call me anytime!" Piers nodded back to him and Milo took a moment to look at Victor before reaching into his pocket and pulling out something to hold out to him. "Here. A small token of my thanks." Victor blinked before he accepted it from Milo with a smile and thanks from himself. "No need to thank me. ..I think in the meantime I should take this little tsareena over to the pokemon center in case something's still wrong with it."
Piers nodded at him again. "That's probably for the best. Wouldn't want the lil thing too banged up from us givin' it that thrashing."
Milo smiled at him before turning to all of you. "Excuse me. I gotta get going. All right then. Follow me little Tsareena." And politely side stepped around your group to walk back out towards the door leading out of the gym. The pokemon following behind matching Milo's orders. Although he did stop and looked back to you which made you blink."And M-M-Miss Y/n.....I-.." He looked as if he wanted to confess something but stopped himself last minute. "Ijustwantedtosaysorryokbye!!"
He quickly mumbled before turning on his heel and speed walking away pulling his hat over his face confusing everyone there before Victor looked at Hop. "What the bloody heck was that about?"
"Oh I think I know."
He wasn't surprised that you all were gone by the time he came back. Even Piers was but oh well. Things happened and he'd reschedule another match with Piers later. Time passed, the tsareena was later released back into the wild safely and everything returned back to normal for the most part. However a month or two later would throw him for a loop. Felix had come up to him one day to deliver some strange but not too surprising news.
"Hey. You remember Old Man Jenkins? He's finally sold his house."
Milo had looked up from the potatoes he was pulling up to look at him. "Oh really? That's great!"
"The new neighbor just moved in! I think we should go say hi considering they're so close to us. That way they won't be so mad if your wooloo crashes into their property."
Milo huffed but that wasn't a too bad idea. "That sounds like the kind thing to do. Alright. First thing tomorrow morning we'll go over and say hi!"
So that's exactly what they did. First thing the next day the two brothers, armed with a giant gift basket of fruits, veggies, and baked goods walked right up to the house and knocked right on the door. However when footsteps approached. When the door opened. When a face smiled at them. He nearly dropped the basket in shock
its DUNGEON TIME!!! finally. i didnt do this yesterday bc i was wiped and i didnt wanna teleport away with poor riju...i have no idea if she'll leave or get stuck there or what
this one looks really complicated...but i'm gonna see how far i can get w/o a guide
omg when you go up on your glider riju is like...i'll leave that area to you link! she can't fly 😭
i see mirrors up here but no light source.......MAN the nostalgia im having rn. this is so much like oot
FOUND IT....
omg wait this construct fused a mirror to its shield...mirror shield...WAHHH
oh that took me STUPIDLY long to figure out but i love that i didn't have to look it up (stopping the wheel with the stake)
apparently i can ascend into the final floor but i really don't wanna do that by myself lol
omg lol there was a hive in this room that also had constructs...they fought each other!! i kept waiting for the read to like Jump the construct but it just swung at it. do they truly not do that in this game.........
oops i accidentally warped outside of the temple with ascension...i gotta be more careful lol. quick warp back but the enemies respawned, no blood moon needed
also the puzzle reset itself :/
got the last one! i only wound up looking at a guide for one, but i accidentally read how to do another first, and then the one i was looking for i also discovered how to do while i was doing that one. so all in all a success
eugh i'm scaaared i dont wanna fight a giant BUG!!!
for once im low on food too. im gonna get my ass beat lol
NOOOOO the first half was fine but now shes SUMMONING REDEADS.....................
im not gonna get jumped im not gonna get jumped im NOT gonna get jumped!!!!!!!!!!!
THIS IS SO SCARY FUCK FUCK FUCK I KEEP SHOOTING THEM FROM ONLY INCHES AWAY THEY ARE SO FAST
IM NOT!!! GONNA GET JUMPED!!!!!!!!!
sorry to riju but her ancestor is HOT. ok im taking this seriously
wait. i just realized these expository cutscenes use the sacred realm melody from oot for just a few notes. AAAAAAAAAAAAA that makes me INSAAAAAANE
"he was our chief before he became obsessed with power and changed" HAUGH........good guy ganondorf....................im making him real in my mind palace
wait sorry hold on. im pausing this cutscene again. i was spoiled that the fifth sage was a construct. which i thot was lame cuz it shoulda been a sheikah. but im looking at this image of them - four sages with helmets, one each for rito zora goron and gerudo - then a hylian, zelda - and then a ZONAI, mineru......that makes six! just like oot! and rauru as the leader/seventh sage, like zelda in oot...two hylians in oot and two zonai in totk...THERE ARE SEVEN OF THEM. what if MINERU gets put inside the construct!!! because didn't zelda put her soul in that purah pad or whatever!!!!!! oh my god.........if this turns out to be the case i think i've earned that bingo square. it wouldn't be true to the letter but true in spirit. i've earned that!!!
damn...they way both this ancestor and urbosa feel it's Personal w ganondorf bc he is also gerudo...he's literally staining their good name...
WAAHHHH riju going "my responsibilities as a leader, as a sage, AND fighting alongside you............sounds like fun >:)" she is TOO YOUNG...so much responsibility...wah
omg you can just walk around here now? without crossdressing? did they chicken out of a crossdressing plot in this game...............smh nintendo. i know it wasn't perfectly executed in the first game but they could have just tried again
FINALLY here is mattison...idk why i couldn't find her before the shroud lifted!!!
ok, i gotta take a break and do Chores, i'll figure out what i'm doing next later!!!
12/10/2023 DAB Chronological Transcription
Romans 11
Today is the 10th day of December. Welcome to Daily Audio Bible Chronological. I'm Jill. It's a brand new sparkly shiny brand new week ahead of us and the possibilities are looking really good. We have . turned the page and the story of our lives. We've also turned the page and the word of God and that brings us to Romans. Today we're starting a brand new translation this week as we start a brand new week and we're reading this week from The Voice. Romans chapter 11.
Prayer:
Jesus, thank you for being here with us another day with another mercy and also another opportunity to serve you and represent who you are to the world who is in need of hope, with the need of love and who is in need of great mercy and grace. All of the things that we have been given and freely taken. Help us to remember as we go through this week that there are people in need of the same things that we have needed- compassion, forgiveness and sometimes truth but truth always in love. We give you this week that is upon us and invite you to do what it is that you long to do in our hearts and our minds, in our lives. We pray this now in the name of the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Announcements:
 I'm Jill, looking forward to a beautiful week together as we turn the page and I'll meet you back here tomorrow. Until then, love one another.
Community Prayer Line:
This is Pamela Resting in the Lord in Pennsylvania. I'm calling for Ebony God Songbird I can't remember it that's the right way to say it and I can't remember why I called, but God will speak through me. The holy spirit will speak through me to you because my brain doesn't always work. You know that you are loved- he wants you to know that yes you were completely healed of migraines that day when they laid hands on you and it's okay if symptoms come back, but we don't have to receive them. We can fight the enemy. It's the enemy who is doing this to us and God has given us every single tool to live free of the enemy in full victorious living with the abundance of heaven. Everything God has made that possible through the death and resurrection of his son Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. But we have to learn what the Kingdom of Heaven is and we have to learn how to operate in it. He brought it down. Jesus brought the Kingdom of Heaven down when he came and it is still here and we are seated in Heavenly places with him. I'm praying for you sister and it's okay. Rest in the Lord. It's okay if you get a migraine. It's okay if you still have a migraine. It's okay- it'll be okay.
This is Candy and revealed by God's grace. This prayer goes out to Mindy in Nashville and for her mom. And also want to pray for all those who are still suffering from the loss of a loved one. Heavenly Father we come before you lifting up these Lord God who are still suffering father God from the loss of their loved ones, especially for Mindy in Nashville and her mom. Lord God the only father Lord we just thank you for your complete healing of these who have gone before us Lord God who have struggled God for so long with sickness. Lord God, lord you know that even knowing this our hearts break and their presence I miss Lord God their smiles and their laughter. It is for all those left behind Lord God struggling with their loss that we pray. Father help them to feel your comfort as you hold them close- your strength to get them through the difficult days, your courage to keep them going and your inner peace to know that you will carry them through until they meet again. Father God we give you all the honor, all the glory and all the praise knowing that all these blessings will flow from you in this season of need and we thank you Lord in Jesus name. Amen and amen. I love you my DABC brothers and sisters. Peace be within you. Bye.
Salutations, this is his little Songbird from Alberta Canada and I want to lift you up in prayer. Heavenly Father I come before you right now and I lift up my sister to you. Father you see how she's been contending with these migraines and you know for how long and just as you have blessed me with the release and the freedom from migraine headaches, Lord we believe that you have done the same for her so I want to give you all the praise and all the glory because you are such a good father to give us such wonderful gifts and you don't take them back, they are to keep. So I give you all the praise and all the glory in Jesus name I pray. Amen. Anytime you feel this pain in your head rising up do this- claim out loud start praising the Lord saying I know you have healed me from these migraine headaches and what I feel is nothing more than the deceit from the devil trying to give me this horrendous gift because that's what he gives his horrendous gifts back to you so that you would claim it. Never never call them my migraines. Don't claim it. That's not a gift you want so you say it out loud and your ears will hear it and the demons will hear it. You'll believe it and they'll run. I love you my sister.
10/23/2023 DAB Transcript pt5
So, Paul names Hymenaeus and Philetus as people that are, you know, kind of stirring up all this weird stuff, these useless arguments and misleading debates. So, he calls them out and he says they've abandoned the truth and then he explains what they're doing. They’re destroying the faith of others by saying that people who have died have already come back to life. So, that either reason this out themselves or they heard this somewhere and Paul’s saying that that's the kind of stuff we’re avoiding. So, Paul says like, in spite of what they're doing, in spite of all that, God's people have a solid foundation. These words are engraved on it. And then we have a couple of these statements, the Lord knows those who belong to Him. And whoever worships the Lord must give up doing wrong. So, although we can find these themes in lots of places in the Scriptures, we get a little glimpse at how these things came to be. And when we begin over time to understand the context of things, the Bible really, really opens up to us.
Prayer:
And so, Father, once again, we thank You for Your word and the treasure that it is and our ability to dive deep and swim and drink deeply and understand what a treasure hunt this is to engage with Your word and invite Your Holy Spirit to speak through it. What a guide it is, what an adventure it is, and we thank You for that. And so, with Saints of old, we say what has been said for so long, if we have died with You, we will live with You. If we endure, we will rule with You. If we disown You, if we walk away, You’ll let us. You will disown us. If we are unfaithful, You are faithful because You can't be unfaithful to Yourself. And we invite Your Holy Spirit to plan this ancient declaration deep in our hearts. We ask this in Jesus name. Amen.
Prayer and Encouragements:
This prayer and this message is to Lost in Texas, a brother in Christ who is, as I am as well, looking for that job that God has for him and for me. And Lost in Texas, I’m coming in agreement in the name of Jesus by the blood of the lamb of Jesus, by the power of the Holy Spirit, that God is going to use this time to draw you closer to Him and in the drawing closer to Him, He will allow you, through the Holy Spirit to weed through those things that are not what He has for you. I’ve learned and I’ve seen how God uses imperfect people to fulfill His perfect plan. And Lord, I lift up my brother Lost in Texas and just know that he has found, he is found in Christ. He is found in the blood of the lamb of Jesus, and so he is covered with grace. He is covered with mercy. And in the covering Lord, give him the strength to walk forward, one step at a time, recognizing God, that You already have that job, that position for him, set aside. You’re asking him Lord, to ask of You, and it shall be given to him. But also to seek with all his heart and all his efforts and all his actions. And to knock and that door will be opened. God, I pray for my brother Lost in Texas, to just do your best and let God do the rest. In Jesus name. And I look forward to a great report.
Hi, DAB this is Abraham from Texas. I’m just calling cause I really could use some prayers and encouragement. I’ve been listening to the DAB for 11 years now, or probably more like 12 years. Over ten years of that I’ve been married. And you know, I’ve been having a lot of issues in my marriage over the past ten years. Pretty much my entire, the entire time I’ve been married. Right after we had our wedding, my wife has been pretty much rejecting me. I’ve tried so hard to just love on her you know, be loving to her, pursue her. I’ve done so much and trips and surprises and everything I possibly could. You know, I just feel like I’m at my wits end. I don’t know how much longer I can put up with this. But it’s very painful to you know, just sometimes at night, I have to lie down and just be, sometimes in tears just with how much I just want to be near, close and hang out. You know, just have this friendship. But it’s like, it’s almost like we just two ships passing in the night, every day. We do have a child together. So, it’s like the common ground is that. You know, I know I don’t want to give up. I don’t know how much longer I can do this. I just, the DAB has been one of the things that has kept me going throughout this time. Just be able to listen and be part of community. Listen to prayers and just know perspective wise, there are worse things going on but at the same time, I just feel like I am, almost in a prison or just trapped because I love, I love my wife, I really want to have a good marriage with her. I want to model a good marriage for her, for our son. We both go to church and everything but …
Hello, Daily Audio Bible Family, this is Shantai calling from Port Saint Lucy, Florida. And I am calling first of all to say thank you, thank you, thank you for your continued prayers. Prisoner of Hope, Junk to Treasure, God’s Yellow Flower, for all those praying in regards to jobs, especially as it pertains to my husband obtaining a stable job that will have longevity. Because basically, the job he was just doing at the place where I work, which was supposed to be for two weeks long, it only lasted a week and a day. So, yesterday, they had him turn in his badge. They said that they assignment was completed. And that, yeah, that was basically it, you know. He did apply to other positions within the company. And so, we’re waiting to hear back in regards to those. And his other backup plan is to get a license that will allow him to drive school buses. And so, really he’s just you know, back to applying to wherever, you know. So, we are trying to just remain hopeful and continue to put our trust in our faith in the Lord to provide. You know, because we’re moving on November 18th and there’s a deposit and you know, all the moving expenses associated with that. And just our general bills that you know, are reoccurring. So, we just need your prayers.
Hello everyone, it’s Susan from Canada, God’s Yellow Flower. And Angie from Texas, I wanna thank you for the update on your son Juan. And know that, I have been praying for him and will continue. My son is about ten years older. We’ve been battling stage 4 cancer for 5 years already and coming on 6. And yeah, we just yesterday got the report that … I should tell you he had rather extensive surgery removing his whole left shoulder, his left arm and his, six of his ribs. He only has a very small part of his lungs on his right side that are working. His, part of his middle lobe and part of his lower lobe. So, he’s very short of breath, he’s in, he does suffer with a lot of discomfort, pain. He’s on, two medications for that. So, anyway, yesterday, they found growth in on an area. They’re not sure what it is. Of course, we’re hoping it’s nothing. But we’ll find out in a week or so. They’re gonna have the superstars review the scans and see. So, Lord God, I just pray for these two boys, for my Keith and for Juan. Lord God, that You would just bring peace, not only in them but in the families as well. As we ride this horrible train, cancer train, and we rest on You, Your will and Your way. Give us all the strength we need, courage and wisdom to face each moment as it arises. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
A Circuit Closes and Feels Like Completion
Last night, I gathered with other members of the DC-Baltimore-area literary community at the Rockville Memorial Library to celebrate the winners, runners up, and honorable mentions of the 2023 F. Scott Fitzgerald Literary Festival Short Story Contest. It was refreshingly wonderful and an all-too-rare reminder why I sit alone and confront blank pages.
Contest Judge Nate Brown said many inspiring and kind things, but one of the sentiments I know I'll keep with me is the idea that, after everything, what matters most is the writer and the page. There is a lot of good is everything surrounding what writers do, and last night's celebration was a testament to that. Nate also spoke about the baggage of doing this writing thing, such as all of the rejection many of us face. Most important, though, is that we keep sitting down with the pages.
I like that idea because it so often feels like success in writing is entirely beyond our control, but doing the work is something we can absolutely control. Yes, writers are people, and every person has much to contend with (jobs, families, relationships, illnesses, disabilities, etc.), but because we have control over whether we sit down and write, it's something we can lose without accountability. It's easy to do it tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow.
But if we do it today and today and today, success—however we define it—comes.
This today, I'm riding a high and feeling good because, last night, alongside some very impressive and brilliant writers whom I was grateful to meet, my story, "A Winter Bloom," was recognized as the contest winner.
Far too often, many of us are left speechless because of grief and loss. It's interesting to me that, if we're fortunate, we may each experience times in our lives in which we're at a loss for words because something good has happened. As a writer, words are my currency, and here I am, incapable of adequately describing my gratitude and appreciation.
This story is precious to me. It's about my experience with grief and loss, but I hope others can connect with it through their own experiences and thoughts about loved ones and their expiration. Our lives continue without a piece of our hearts, like a celestial body breaking up as it burns through atmosphere, and we're powerless to stop, to go back and reclaim what we lost, and all the while, we know we will either crash into the earth or break up entirely into dust and vapors.
Nate also spoke last night about how literature is a gift. He said, every piece he reads reveals to him its heart, that which drew the writer to it, and when we share our writing, that's a gift. If that's true, it means grief and loss have bloomed something beautiful through this story, and there's something amazing about being able to share that now.
If you take the time to read this story, I appreciate you.
Author Michelle Brafman, who previously won this contest, also spoke last night, and one of her thoughts I'll be carrying with me for a long time is that, amid all of this rejection and grief that we call this writing thing, she's found solace in the act of celebrating and lifting up other writers. In embracing that spirit, I want to congratulate Jeremie Amoroso for his story, "Holivay, Holivay," which I found tense in its sparkling dialogue and a mythical figure turned into a real, compelling character. I also want to congratulate Zach Styles for his story, "We All Made Sacrifices," which I found funny but also ultimately relatable in its satirical construction and compelling in its creative use of form. Read their stories, along with stories from some exceptional student writers (Lucas Yamamoto, Dresden Benke, Naomi Goldstein, Cheyenne Mugisha, Sofia Lazarus, and Kit Seckel) here.
Thank you to all who worked hard to make this contest a success. Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend the festival on Oct. 20-21, but if you're in the area, I encourage you to check it out. Jonathan Franzen and Ron Charles are headliners, but if there's nothing else I took from last night, it's that assembling with a literary community is not only wonderful but necessary. I think the writer and the page is how we create meaning in literature, but when we assemble, we share, observe, and celebrate it. I think, when we come together, we close a circuit that begins with the writer, and I think that's a kind of completion we should seek out.
Never enough |Chuuya comfort x Reader
Angst and fluff time
Tumblr media
Never enough |Chuuya comfort x Suicidal depressed Reader|
Warnings- mentions of Self-harm, heavy depression, suicide, lack of love for one's self. -I honestly wrote this as a self-comfort cause I needed something, so it really is triggering-
Word count- 1,700 words (roughly)
Life is a storm, full of calm eyes and rough winds that threaten to knock you over. Within life, there are ups and down; rough and soft moments in the storm. Tears are like rain, drizzling and pouring. There are light cries and heavy cries just like the sky. Happiness, fear, sadness, anger; emotions are weather. There are sunny days; happiness, thunderstorms; fear, rainy days; sadness, hurricanes; anger.
The clouds wept today. Wrapping around the moonlight, it hid the light. Water made heavy clinking noises against metal. The rush of cars swooshed against water as they sped by, the sound of a silent street followed. There were no voices, no couples, no people within eyesight or earshot. Today was a rainy day; a sad day. Tears fell in pattern with the falling water. Crimson dissipated within the water. Flowing down the roof the water washed it away. Clothing stuck, hair fell, eyes continued to look down.
You felt alone, afraid, disgusted, and angry with yourself and others. Your legs dangled off the edge of the roof. Listening to the music of sadness; a rainy night, you hummed. There was nobody else there with you, besides your thoughts you were alone. Though it was no surprise, it happened all the time.
People leave, people move one, people are not permanent. There is death in life; life in death. You pondered the meaning of such similes often. Running arms over your soaked clothes you choked on sobs. Letting out silent cries you shed the pain. Out of alcohol and still sober enough to feel you tossed the empty bottle to the roof entrance. It shattered to hundreds of pieces, adding sound to your cries. This isn't normal; to feel like this. You hated the things you’ve done, the job you could not back out from. You hated the way you looked. It didn’t matter what people said to you about being perfect the way you are. The small voices of people who put you down stood out. The ones that edge this crippling insecurity stuck out the most. They say the smallest flame can do more damage than the largest flame. It makes sense though, a large flame grows from the smallest flame. The large flames that start that size often take a while to do the same damage a building flame has done. Words worked like that; the smaller words that came from those close built into raging flames.
You shouted curses under your breath, looking to your lined arms, you choked back another sob. Why, why did you do these things? They were temporary freedoms from this pain but it never lasted; like drinking. Everybody needs a way to tell these feelings to fuck off, but at points, it doesn't work. Those thoughts cross the mind. The permanent solution to what they call a temporary problem. It isn’t always temporary, sure it goes at times to reveal the sun, but then it returns three-fold. It never leaves forever, they say it gets better, but sometimes it's hard to see that light at the end. Sometimes it's so far away it seems impossible to reach unless somebody else can help.
Everybody says it’s alright to be like this. Yet, they never help, they never offer up their hand to pull you out of the quicksand. They never attempt to push you forward in the tunnel. They stand, and they watch you break, until it’s suddenly benefiting for them to step in. Then, they dare to ask why you’re like this. It’s not a choice, it’s not something that can be so easily controlled. It’s a monster with its talons tearing into you.
So maybe, that’s why you did it. That’s why you inched closer and closer. Maybe that’s why you looked up and shut your eyes. Tapping fingers against the rooftop's edge. Humming tunes to try and steer your thought from doing the last resort. Just before the wrong decision could be made, you were grabbed and pulled back.
You felt so far from the world, nothing was clicking or connecting the dots. A harsh sting to your cheek brought your mind swirling back to the present. Noticing you were paying attention, the dark silhouette of a short male shouted words. “What were you thinking!” he hissed holding your shoulders with a firm grip.
“I… I don't know?” you mumbled feeling the tears swell in your eyes again.
“You don’t know? What the hell, I know we're all a little messed up but you can't…” it fell on him, his voice cutting out as he fell to his knees. His hands slid around you. Firmly holding you, he yanked your soaked body to his. His umbrella only hid your bodies from the wind with his ability. “How long, tell me how long.” his voice was breaking but still stern.
“I don’t know? Weeks, months, maybe years?” you don't move, afraid and cold, you could not meet his eyes. “Why do you care? You’ll just end up the same as everybody else. I’m worthless right? I mean, everybody leaves me alone. I don't fit beauty standards to perfection. Nobody would want me so, why not? Why not take the shortcut to happiness?” you were slapped again. It was light, but it stung enough to snap you from those thoughts again.
“Ya well think about somebody else! I don’t need two suicidal idiots! Having one to worry about is enough! Not that I worry about that mongrel! I do about you though, you’re my drinking partner. You’re the one who managed to get me to open up to being touched! I don’t hug or act... soft with anybody else! You don’t get to take that away! I don’t care what you look like, sound like, fuck, I don’t care about anything but what’s in there. In that fuckin heart! I am not a softy, you know I don’t say shit like this often but… you can’t do that! If you're miserable enough to really be willing to toss it all away, then you should talk to somebody!” his voice was panicked. Yes, he was being selfish. He knew that this wasn’t your fault, it wasn’t a feeling you could so easily overcome. Yet, here he was hoping that you would let him help you.
“I'm sorry! I’m so sorry! I just… I thought… wouldn’t it be better for everybody though? Sure you'd be sad at first but you'd forget about me!” Chuuya shook his head. Meeting your eyes with his clouded ocean ones. Tears fell, almost unnoticeable within the pouring rain.
“No, no I wouldn't! I wouldn't because I love you! I fell in love, I don't know how or when it… it just happened! Isn’t this enough? One person, am I not enough? If I had known I’d have held you to me, given you all the cuddles you ever needed!” he buried his face into the crook of your neck. He didn’t care if you felt the same or not at this point. He just needed to let you know somebody cared for you.
“Chuuya…” a light in the tunnel, it formed inside the tunnel.
It is, as they say, eventually you will meet that light. You will find meaning in your life. Something good will happen, then, all the people who put you here will be nothing but bad memories, and lingering ghosts of the past; You can move on. A light will come to you eventually, no matter how dark it seems, that light will show itself. In a friend, a relative, a job offer, an achievement. Those beads of light spread and eventually, they will pull you out enough to know true happiness.
When Chuuya looked worriedly to you, he was taken aback by your arms tossing around him. Your tears being muffled by his own lips. He kissed back before pulling away. Even if you still felt low you were slightly feeling better. Just knowing there was somebody to hold you like this was enough to curve the thoughts for a while.
He took his jacket and wrapped it around you, lifting you into his arms. He carried you to his penthouse, setting you down on the couch located in his bedroom. He looked around, finding one of his larger hoodies he tossed to you. He started hot chocolate as he waited for you to change. You’d probably be sick tomorrow, given it had been cold and you were drenched.
He carried the mug back to the couch, placing it down, he frowned. Walking to a closet, he pulled a small towel out. Rubbing it against your skull as you sniffled, he sighed. “Do you need anything else?” shaking your head, you grabbed his arm.
“Just… some cuddles?” he nodded holding you close, trying to warm your frigid body up. “Did you mean it? You'd really care if I…”
“Yeah, I did, is there a problem? I know it may not mean much. I know how depression works, at least a little bit. It’s not something that can be easily controlled. I just want you to know that you are perfect to me. If somebody ever tells you otherwise, I'll crush them to a pulp.” cracking a small smile, Chuuya's eyes lit up. “There we go, a small smile is a win. So you like me being all protective? Good, I’m a little territorial.”
Looking at him you nodded. “Yeah… okay.” you still sounded so sad.
“I'm serious! I’d squash even Mori if he insulted you in any way! You’re the most perfect thing I've ever seen and known! You're beautiful outside and inside, people are just jealous of how perfect you are.” he was trying to lift your spirits and it seemed to work a little.
“Can we just stay like this?” Chuuya nodded, letting you lean your head on his shoulder. He didn’t move even as you fell asleep.
Being a cop wasn't easy, putting your life in danger to protect and serve others sometimes wasn't successful. It was 50/50, every morning you will be walking out home not knowing if you could come back.
It had been three weeks without a person in the unit. Detective Jay Halstead had been wounded in a crossfire in a covert operation; when one of you got hurt everyone took responsibility even if it wasn't that way, only for some it was harder to try not to blame yourself for what happened. You had blamed Hailey for not covering Jay enough even though you knew it wasn't her fault, you even avoided her a few days after that.
She was her partner way long before you were assigned to Intelligence by Sergeant Voight.
Narcotics helped Intelligence in a case; it was your case but somehow their case intertwined with yours at some point, both departments agreed to work to stop the overdoses in the area. You were the best at CO, so it made sense for Sergeant Voight to pick Jay, one of his best undercovers for a purchase. Your skills didn't go unnoticed by anyone in the Intelligence Unit, even for someone with experience like Jay. After the case was over he offered you a spot in his Unit, you doubt it for a moment, you were good in Narcotics, good pay, accumulated vacation days, Voight wasn't known for being a patient person and some co-workers encouraged you to take that step by commenting on how crazy you must be not to accept such an offer.
You were well received by all, perhaps except for Sergeant Trudy Platt, who didn't like strangers or new people in the district. Jay was among the first to congratulate you when you arrived, for a moment you thought you'd be partners but Voight wouldn't break his dream team, so he paired you with Kevin Atwater, whom you've been entrusting your life and darkest secrets to ever since.
Atwater was the first one you told about the nights you stayed late with Jay in Molly's, he was the first to know how those late nights became visiting his apartment, to end up arriving together one morning, to the district. He had told you about Voight's rules and how he was firm with them after Jay's last relationship had gone bad with his partner and that had affected his way of working a bit.
Jay and you decided to go slowly, the only one who would know about you two would be Kevin, it was agreed at least, but Hailey Upton was very good at her job so she soon realized what was happening between you. She had supported you, although she did not agree to hide this from her sergeant, she wanted to see her partner happy.
They were all at their desks, doing paperwork on a case they had closed the day before, when Trudy appeared on the stairs.
"Guess who came back from her mandatory break."
You looked up from the papers in front of you to look at a smiling Jay Halstead, who was looking at Trudy with a raised eyebrow.
"Nice to see you too, Trudy."
"Yeah, now try to get away from the bullets for a while, I don't want to have to worry about any of you for a long time."
Kevin and Adam were the first to approach him, joking and patting him on the shoulder. Kim and Hailey were next, giving him a loving hug before heading back to his places. You had stood up to lean against your desk, your arms crossed over your chest, Jay leaned closer, although he kept some distance, the mocking smile still on his lips. You were the first to speak.
"I see you survived, Halstead."
"Hey, don't say it like that, I'm going to think you're not happy to see me alive."
You pressed your lips together so as not to smile because of his comment, it was the game that both played in front of everyone else, the sarcastic comments to pretend that they were not getting along as well as they should. You nodded and looked at him.
"It's good to have you back."
Jay's smile widened and he put his hands on his hips.
"Look at that, you're happy to have me here."
You rolled your eyes and sat back in your chair when Voight left his office, leaning against the doorframe.
"How are you Jay?"
Jay nodded his head looking at his boss.
"Good, Sarge."
"Good, because I just hung up with the Superintendent and he wants to acknowledge what you did. Tomorrow there will be a public event, downtown."
You all clapped for a moment, before Voight continued speaking.
"Now try not to die until tomorrow."
Without saying more he returned to his office. Jay went to his desk to catch up on all the overdue paperwork, from time to time you looked up to observe him, you were glad to have him back but the moment you knew about the award, you felt a bitter taste in your mouth. Why were they going to decorate him when he almost died?
You stood up and went to the coffee room, took one of the cups on the wall and poured yourself some, you still felt that bitter taste in your mouth. You heard footsteps behind you and looked over your shoulder.
"Are you okay?"
Jay asked, taking another cup, reaching for the pot and pouring himself some coffee as well. You leaned a little to look towards the door, checking that no one was around to hear you. You started to get tired of that, checking over your shoulders to see if no one could hear your conversations or whatever you were doing behind closed doors.
“Uhm, yes, I’m just a little tired. We have been in some paperwork duties from a few cases from the past weeks.”
You took a sip from the cup, making a little grin at the taste of the coffee.
“Well, just for the record, I know when something’s bothering you. We have been together almost a year.”
He looked satisfied with himself, and you couldn’t deny it because he was right, Jay knew you so well almost since day one. You looked at him and gave him a little smile, his mood was good after dealing with a grumpy man at his house because he couldn’t get back to work after being shot, and you definitely didn't want to be the one to screw it up.
Kim walks into the room without realizing the interruption she just made or how you take a little more distance between you two, starts a little chat with Jay and you decide to go back to your desk.
Later, in the locker room, you were finishing picking up some things from your little blue locker, putting them in the gym bag you were carrying that day when Kevin appeared next to you, opening his own locker.
"I don't see you so happy today, you were quiet for most of the day, man you didn't even laugh at Ruzek's nonsense. I thought having Jay back would make you feel better."
You sighed and took a seat on the bench, rubbing your hands over your face before looking at your best friend. You played with your lower lip a bit before speaking.
"Kevin, am I crazy for wanting more in this relationship? I mean, we've worked well without anyone knowing, what difference would it make if we did from the knowledge of Voight, of our friends?"
They both fell silent when an officer entered the room and moments later he left the room, you clenched your fist and struck the cold metal in front of you, you felt frustrated and helpless. Kevin sat next to you, rubbing his hands together as he took his time answering you.
"Y/N, you are a pretty strong woman who knows what she wants, don't let anyone make you feel like you can't, not even some of my friends. If you want, I can talk to him, you know man to man" .
His comment made you laugh a little, releasing a bit of the tension in your chest, you bumped his shoulder with yours, pushing him a little.
"Thanks Kev. I don't think that talk is necessary but I will take it into account for future problems."
"Whenever you need me, girl."
You took your bag, Kevin had helped you lift your spirits but you knew you had to do something with your feelings, for better or for worse.
Jay was in the kitchen when he heard you arrive, a smile formed on his face as he came out to greet you, an ice cold beer in his hand and a hockey game in the background on television. He walked over to you to kiss your forehead, took your bag and set it aside by the door.
"It took you a little longer than usual to get here, I'm sorry I didn't wait for you. Trudy wanted me to fill out some forms for tomorrow and I left earlier."
You couldn't look at Jay without stopping to think about the consequences that your words would have, you knew about his past and you didn't want to be the evil witch who would ruin what you both had until that day. You settled next to him, resting your head on his chest while he watched the game and he made imaginary shapes on the skin of your arm.
It took you a few minutes before you could form a sentence, your voice lacking the strength you had gathered all the way to his apartment.
"Jay, what if we tell Voight we're together?"
Your voice caught his attention, looking at you completely confused.
"Y/N, we both know that we can't say anything at the moment if we want to continue working in the same unit."
You slowly sat up again, turning a little so you could face him, Jay was sure of what he was saying, it showed in his face and in the confidence with which he had spoken.
"Jay, I'm tired of having to hide from everyone, like what we're doing is wrong. Voight will understand if-"
"I've been through this before Y/N, I know what I'm talking about. I also refused to hide my thing with Erin, but things changed. If we tell this to Voight he will remove someone from the team and we know it will not be me."
You felt the air come out of your lungs, as if someone had hit you, Jay realized his mistake when you stood up, he began to move his head trying to speak, he left the beer on the coffee table trying to take your hand .
"Y/N, it's not what- it's not what I meant ..."
Unaware of your movements, you started to take your things in a frenzy, Jay seemed to be talking to you but you couldn't identify his words or what he was trying to tell you, you just left.
To be continued...
