Truly it wasn’t as pleasing as it may seem to be able to just take the time and stargaze, even from such a position. The woman had too much time on her hands unfortunately and it was something she didn’t like, unlike most who would kill for the time she had. At least seemed to have, it never crossed her mind much to dwell on that reality, it couldn’t be helped sometimes though. It lead to maddening boredom and fickleness, honestly if she wasn’t too caught off she probably would’ve thrown herself into the waters behind her just to seek consequence to satiate what inactivity that plagued her. They may seem on a different level of eye in what they seek, truly though there was always something to be sought. Josiah stood there with her posture relaxing, but with a more composed to gentle look pressing into her features. The shock melting away in no time from her little jumpscare that flooded over herself in the moment.
Details didn’t go unnoticed though wheh her gaze dropped to the white mask in his grasp, making her brow knit briefly. It wasn’t too obvious on what she was staring at, although well enough could someone feel her gaze. Even on an lifeless object, she was curious in all means. Of course not thinking alike him, the two had their own trains of thought at the moment which was understandable. It wasn’t really her business to be prodding into the reason he was here, but it couldn’t be helped as she took a couple steps further towards him. Like a curious but cowardice hound, anxious to cause any discomfort from the small closing gap until she stopped. A gentle croak left her as if she was about to speak, but it was all drained away into a gentle exhale with her shoulders perking up. She knew better than to let her curiosity jump in at all. It was almost awkward from her demeanour with her having inched closer, it was making her fidget a little with words wanting to form instead of her turning tail. It was quite obvious she was a loss of words now, something that she didn’t expect. Of course though not knowing his intentions of being here, she’d mostly assume it was the same as her reason. To take a nice time pass.
Josiah just stood there now with her attention prying away briefly to look at the water, and soon back to the mask once more. So alas back to his face when he spoke, snapping her attention in place until he finished.
“You’ll be surprised... I’ve been in more out of place areas than you may think. It’s a lovely spot if you ask me- but I may wonder the same. What are you doing here?”
@ask-doctor-jules (Ah, needn’t worry, it’s still hella nice! I enjoyed it, no stress. Take your time!)
Julian didn’t remember things from the past three years, and even when he thought back farther, he didn’t remember quite everything. His heart ached whenever he remembered Asra, he was at a loss at every corner when he tried to remember Nadia, the only thing he remembered of the Count was he cold, dying eyes, and a large fire that belonged to his corpse.
Since then, all Julian has kept to his heart was his dearly beloved sister (though they haven’t spoken in years), the memories of the grandmother’s who raised them, and his years at sea, traveling as a pirate and all the adventures he had, what he wanted and longed for all of  his life.
Now, the streets that were once plagued with disease and agony were nearly empty, and what was mentioned were the only happy things he kept to his heart, the rest was on his heart strings and what was heavy on his shoulders. The streets were empty because everyone had passed, had been burned to ash and never remembered, except by him, the man who failed them.
No Countess until recent, she had just woken from her slumber as the word was spread, and he was only aware because the people from his side of Vesuvia had sworn to protect Julian from the guards that roamed the streets at night, because they believed in his innocence, but not even Julian believed that.
Julian had convinced himself he came back to Vesuvia to die, but to unscramble his mind before he did, even getting a tattoo on his hand so he would never forget his horrendous crime. He had turned to an actual small-time crime, which had been breaking into Asra’s shop, to which he did recall one small detail that was always hidden from him whenever he was still in a good term with Asra; his apprentice.
Josiah, she had always caught him red-handed, and even threw a glass bottle at his head once. But she wasn’t like anyone he’d ever met, and would sometimes even have Malak (his unknown familiar), send her postcards with admiration’s written on them, but only when she came around his part of town.
On this specific night of having too much on his mind and being in yet another state of grieving to himself, wallowing in his own self-pity, he had caught sight of her- the most beautiful Josiah. But what was she doing here in this end of Vesuvia, without Asra, without anyone? Julian was going to keep to himself, but he couldn’t keep his mouth shut, which he would instantly regret.
“Josiah?”
[ @enthusiasticcarrion I’m so sorry this was so delayed, but I hope you like it! ]
