Lysandre is gone, but it doesn’t mean he’s hurting any less. It doesn’t mean any wounds, physical or mental, are healed and gone. And then there’s the final bit of the chorus “I wouldn't want to make you sorry for me” where it could be read as Alain not waiting any words of sympathy from Lysandre because he knows they’re not genuine, that they’re coming from a place of disgust or malice because Alain’s finally turning his back on him.
