sometimes i think people need a reminder that you can like multiple ships in the same fandom. you can even like multiple ships in the same fandom containing the same character. and that preferring one ship over another doesn't make you superior in any way. ships are not mutually exclusive and you're not better for shipping a certain pairing over another. can we all agree to go back to the mindset of "ship and let ship" and quit bashing people who prefer something different?

Can I get a kiss from either Oliver Knight or Artem for number 19? Sorry can’t think of three guys XD
Prompt: One person stopping a kiss to ask “Do you want to do this?”, only to have the other person answer with a deeper, more passionate kiss. Artem Wing - Tears of Themis With his eyebrows almost kissing, you held back at a giggle as you watched Artem tap away at his phone screen, playing one of your favourite phone games. It's one that you always played during your lunch break or whenever you waited to meet up with him for lunch, dinner or even a movie. You were one of his only friends and despite his very busy schedule, he always made time to catch up with you whenever he could manage. "What happens now that I've run out of HP?" He turned his head to the side, curious yet seemingly impatient as he found himself weirdly engrossed in the game. Something neither of you actually expected. "Well-" You scooted even closer to his side, arms glued together as you leaned over to point at the corner of his touch screen. "See this, right there? You just have to click on that and if you have enough of those shimmery bottle thingies, you should be able to replenish some HP and keep playing." He hummed in contemplation, clicking on what you had just pointed out and then nodded, his lips turning up into a smile. "I am certain they are not called shimmery bottle 'thingies' by the developers of this game." "Well, I call them whatever the hell I want to." You grinned with a shrug, eliciting a chuckle from Artem, a sound that you felt was so rare but when it blessed your ears, it made your heart flutter as if the L word inside you was blossoming even more. Even more... You shook your head at the thought, biting your lips. You were so, damn, fucked. How in the hell were you supposed to shoo all these creeping thoughts away when Artem, the man with the most allure and poise you've ever known, was sitting so comfortably next to you? Your proximity almost felt intimate and you were positive that you were starting to probably imagine things. You were way in too deep. "Y/N, is there something wrong?" Artem's brows now furrowed for a different reason completely. "Is my playing bothering you? Would you rather we watch a movie instead?" "Oh no!" You shook your head and your hands in front of you in tandem, dismissing the idea that you were even bothered. You just really had to snap out of your daydreaming fantasies. "I'm actually really glad you're into this. And in this occasion, I'll let you in on a little secret I discovered hehe." Leaning closer to him, with a hand placed on his shoulder, you pointed at the screen and somehow, your mouth spouted whatever nonsense your mind was able to conjure up about the game when all you could feel was the faded scent of his cologne and natural smell filling your nostrils, the heat of his body seeping into you and God... you were far too gone, the L word taking over your damn heart and brain, even your body was catching up. Turning his head towards you to ask you a question, Artem knew you were close but didn't realize just how close you were, his nose bumping into yours in the process, which he immediately followed by pulling his face away from yours yet his body remained still. He didn't want to budge, he liked having you this close. It was different but it was comfortable. It felt just right. Just like what you were about to do. It was cruel, having your lips apart when it was so clear that you yearned for a taste of the love that bloomed in your hearts, your heart bearing fields of affection growing abundantly over the course of the years. The kiss was brief yet full of emotion, your lips meeting without hesitation, bittersweet longing finally joining you together. "Do you want to do this?" Artem questioned, his eyes flickering between your lips and your eyes, searching for the answer to a question that you've already responded to. But clearly, you would have to show him how much you meant what you were trying to express. With words or actions. "Artem... I'm the one who kissed you. I should be the one asking you that." You giggled, entwining your lips once again, both of
you smiling into the kiss as your arms whisked comfortably around his shoulders while you and your long-time love show each other a fraction of the passion you feel towards one another. Handsome, thoughtful, extremely intelligent yet stupid man. You were so obviously into him yet he refused to let himself believe that sharing something like this with you was possible, that the sparks between you weren't true.

teenage dirtbag [four] // wanda maximoff
summary: Things finally explode between you and Nate, and Pietro decides to get to the bottom of whatever is going on between you and Wanda, though in usual Pietro fashion AKA not subtly at all
warning/s: none.
author's note: this is very beefy, i must admit, but i think you'll all enjoy the outcome 😂💘
part one | part two | part three | part five | masterlist | wattpad
Tumblr media
Dinner with the Maximoffs wasn't as strange as I envisioned. Her parents were sweet and the twins did their best to make me feel comfortable. Wanda still seemed mildly frustrated whenever Pietro and I would talk though, and I figured she may have thought I was lying when I told her I didn't like him like that. I hoped that wasn't the case.
After dinner, Wanda took me upstairs to show me her bedroom. I'm not sure how to describe it other than it seemed so Wanda.
"I'm guessing red is your favourite colour," I said when I saw the hints of scarlet in her bedroom. On her walls, in her bedding, on her pillows. Just like her car and her jacket, they were all bright and very her.
"Great observation, Sherlock," she teased with a sly smile.
I returned the smile, sticking my tongue out at her playfully, before having a walk around and coming across her massive CD collection and CD player. Her music taste was actually quite similar to mine, which I definitely didn't expect. It just made her ten times more attractive to me which wasn't good, but oh well. I was here for a good time, not a long time. And my crush on Wanda Maximoff would surely be the death of me.
"D'you have any CDs at all?" she asked, joining my side when she noticed me staring at the shelf.
I crossed my arms, glancing at her. "Don't get me wrong. I'd love to collect them, but it's just so much easier to have Spotify, y'know?"
My intention wasn't to make her laugh, but God I was glad I did when her eyes crinkled and the sound rang around the room, making my heart pinch with adoration.
After giving me some of her pyjamas, the two of us got ready and brushed our teeth before I realised she wanted me to share bed with her.
"You wanna watch some TV before bed?" she asked, clearly not registering my hesitance to slide into her Queen-sized bed.
I swallowed hard. "S-sure."
She turned on the TV at the end of her bed as I slipped in beside her, still a bit rigid as I kept a fair distance from her.
"What you feeling? Comedy? Drama? Horror?"
"Anything is fine with me," I said, still tense.
She hummed in acknowledgement before leaning down on her pile of pillows behind her, edging closer to me. My heart was hammering in my chest as her hair tickled my arm from where she was laying.
"You comfortable?" she checked in, leaning backwards so her head was upside down to see me. "I have more pillows if you need them."
I offered her a small smile, hoping it disguised my nerves. "I'm good."
She nodded before flicking through the channels and eventually settling on reruns of The Office. It took time, but I eventually overcame my initial shock of sharing bed with the girl I had a major crush on and instead relaxed, getting comfortable under the covers.
After watching some TV, we called it a night and fell asleep quite quickly, the day taking its toll on us. For once, I wasn't panicking about doing something stupid. I simply fell asleep, trying to ignore the heat she emanated from beside me.
It was a peaceful night – her bed was super comfortable – and I woke up to the sound of Wanda moving about in her bedroom.
"Shoot, I'm sorry, did I wake you?" she asked when she saw me moving about under the blankets. I tried to blink away the sleep as she continued, "I was gonna wake you soon. School starts in an hour."
I rubbed my eyes, yawning, before sitting up and seeing she was practically already dressed. That meant she would have been up for a while, meaning she would have seen me fast asleep. God, I hated when people saw me sleeping. It always felt so weird.
"It's okay," I got out tiredly, before running a hand through my hair.
"You sleep well?" she asked, spinning around in her chair, her makeup half done. "I tried my very best not to use you as a teddy bear."
She was joking, but I felt my neck grow warm at the thought and damn, it was just way too early to be flustered.
"Yeah, I slept great," I settled, feeling her gaze on me. "Thanks again for having me over."
"Anytime," she said, and something told me it wasn't just a friendly response but that she actually meant it. Maybe it was the kind smile on her lips as she said so. "Just like last night, if you wanna use anything in the bathroom, go for it."
I gave her a thumbs up, taking a moment to wake myself up a little more, before heading to the bathroom to brush my teeth. When I returned to Wanda's room, I saw she'd already made the bed and had laid my clothes on top of it.
"I've got a shirt you can borrow," she said when I grabbed my jeans.
"Oh, I can just wear the same thing again, it's no biggie," I told her, already grabbing my shirt.
She pouted before grabbing a shirt from her closet. "Just hold on. You'll love it."
In no time, she came out from her closet and held out a Paramore tee shirt on a hanger towards me.
"I got it from the last concert I went to," she explained. "I thought you'd like it."
I couldn't help but smile at the thought. "Wow, Wanda. Really? You don't mind?"
She nodded, shaking the shirt as emphasis for me to take it. I did, having a look over it and smiling to myself.
"I'll wash it and give it back to you tomorrow," I promised, taking it off the hanger and holding it with my jeans. "Thanks."
"You can keep it," she said, scratching the back of her head apprehensively. "I've got loads."
"Oh, no, I can't do that," I began to deny, but she shook her head.
"It's fine, I'm giving it to you," she said, before smiling sweetly. "I'm sure you'll look better in it anyway."
Again with the warmth spreading up my neck...
"I doubt that," I quipped with a small smile.
"Go! Go get changed," she said, already pushing me towards the door. "I'll meet you downstairs for breakfast."
I snickered, letting her shove me into the hallway, before heading into the bathroom to get ready. The shirt was oversized, so there was no need to be worried it wouldn't fit. It was actually really nice, plus I liked it that extra bit more knowing Wanda gave it to me. Though I knew I wouldn't keep it. It was hers and she was just being nice.
When I finished making myself look presentable, I headed downstairs and found the twins at the kitchen counter, chatting between themselves. Their chatter ceased when I walked in, with Wanda biting her lip and looking me up and down with satisfaction.
"I was right," was all she said, making me nervous. "You do look better in it than me."
The day after that, I did as I said I would and returned Wanda's shirt to her, washed, folded and ironed. Knowing she wouldn't accept it without a fight, I left it in her bag when she wasn't looking during class.
I should have expected her to approach me at my locker afterwards.
"It was supposed to be a gift," she said, and I saw her pretty face reflected in the mirror hung inside my locker.
I turned around, already knowing what she was talking about.
"I told you I couldn't accept," I said politely, giving her a small smile. "I appreciate it though." She seemed disappointed which obviously didn't help with my feelings for her, so I took a leap and added, "Maybe I can get my own at their next concert. In the summer, right?"
She picked up on what I meant and smiled, stifling a laugh. Running a hand through her hair, she met my gaze and I found myself frozen in place as always, unable to look away. I wondered if she knew what she was doing when she did that, knew that she was giving me heart palpitations every time her lips turned into a playful smirk and dark eyes studied me curiously.
My eyes drifted to her lips subconsciously and she must have put on some lip balm or something, prior to finding me just now, as they looked shiny and pink and just so damn kissable. Nate was one lucky guy.
Having faced issues with Nate three times now (AKA the three times he happened to launch a football at my head), I'd figured I wouldn't be seeing the last of him. He was a dick, meaning he had a natural inclination to piss people off, particularly me. But I never thought he'd go for Y/BF/N.
We were chilling by our lockers, chatting about his film project, when his books suddenly got knocked out of his hands and he was shoved against the lockers. I straightened up when I saw it was Nate, looking pissed off as he had Y/BF/N's shirt bundled in his fist.
"What the hell are you doing?!" I shouted, trying to shove him off, but he merely pushed me back.
"This isn't your business," he said to me before glaring at Y/BF/N, who was quiet with panic. "You. You've been hanging around my girlfriend and I don't like it."
The colour drained from Y/BF/N's face as Nate slammed his hand to the lockers beside his head, startling him.
"I want you to stay the fuck away from Wanda!" he ordered, and students were starting to pick up on the fight that was clearly about to break out. "You fucking hear me, you nerd? Stay the fuck away!"
Poor Y/BF/N nodded his head, eyes avoiding Nate's. Meanwhile, I was angrier than Nate probably was. Y/BF/N had done nothing wrong. Maybe Nate had just seen Wanda hanging with me and because Y/BF/N was always with me, assumed the worst. Either way, this was no way to handle the situation and I was not gonna let this dick threaten my friend.
"Get the fuck away from him, Nate," I said through gritted teeth, glaring a hole into the side of his head.
Nate barely glanced my way. "I told you this isn't your business, honey."
"Five seconds," I said, standing behind him as a crowd began to form. "You've got five seconds or I'm gonna kick you."
He seemed to ignore me as he tightened his grip on Y/BF/N's shirt, only pissing me off more.
"Five," I began to count down, the grip on my books tightening with nerves and anger. "Four."
He still didn't look my way, just kept slapping Y/BF/N's face to scare him.
"Three, two, one," I said quickly, tired of giving him the benefit of the doubt.
Without waiting anymore, I kicked him between the legs with full force, watching as he instantly let go of Y/BF/N and doubled over. Everybody began to laugh, some making 'ooh' noises, but the consensus was clear – it definitely sucked to be Nate right now.
I tried not to laugh as I watched his face scrunch with pain, turning red. I was starting to appreciate my choice of wearing my doc marten boots today.
"No more balls for the guy who keeps throwing them at my fucking head," I got out, jaw clenching.
He looked up, his face crossing with realisation as he recognised me. In response, he glared in my direction, but it didn't faze me.
"Come on, Y/BF/N," I said, looking to my startled friend. "Let's go."
"What on Earth is going on over here?!" a teacher's voice rang out in the distance, and I groaned internally.
When I turned to leave, I heard Nate from behind me, grunting with dissatisfaction.
"Fuckin' dyke," he mumbled under his breath, and I paused, clenching my fists.
"Y/N, don't–" Y/BF/N tried to stop me, but I was too pissed to care.
I spun around and punched Nate square in the face, feeling good as his smirking face scrunched in pain and his back hit the lockers from the impact.
"Woah!" a teacher came out of nowhere, shoving herself between us and pushing me away from him. "What the hell is going on here?!"
I shook my hand to ease the pain on my knuckles, though the pain couldn't stop the grin on my lips as Nate raised his hands to his face, holding his busted nose. Students were going crazy, egged on by the potential fight, and for once, I didn't mind the attention. Nate had that coming for a while now.
"Everybody back to class! Now!" the teacher yelled, glaring all around her, before her eyes settled on Nate and I. "You two. Nurse's office now."
Nate glared at me behind his bloody nose and, once again, I tried not to laugh. Y/BF/N patted my back, amazement written on his face, before letting me leave with the teacher and an unusually silent Nate.
Kicking Nate in the groin and punching him in the face wasn't something I did to get attention, yet that's exactly what happened. Word of the incident spread around the school quite quickly, so much in fact that even students from other grades became aware of the situation and were approaching me to tell me how awesome I was. The whole thing was definitely strange, but I could tolerate it.
What I couldn't tolerate was having Chemistry after lunch and wondering if Wanda knew.
Would she hate me for punching her boyfriend? I wasn't sure. I just knew that when she walked into class and sat next to me, I felt everyone's eyes subtly watching us as if waiting for her to explode at me.
I'd been given an ice pack for my bruised hand after my visit to the nurse's office earlier whilst Nate had been treated for his broken nose (the fact that I'd broken it was hilarious to me, since I knew I wasn't even that strong). The principal had a very angry yell at us both in his office, neither of us willing to reveal the premise of our fight, before giving us detention every day after school for two weeks straight as punishment. Of course, Nate got his two weeks at a different time to mine for fear I'd punch him again (he definitely didn't like that, but he couldn't exactly say that to to principal).
I didn't bother using the ice pack in Chemistry for fear Wanda may ask what was up. I successfully managed to hide my hand and as a second surprise of the day, Wanda mentioned nothing about the incident. Not one thing about her boyfriend, about Y/BF/N, about any of it. I thought she might hint at it, trying to get me to bring it up. But she didn't which made me think she actually had no idea it even happened. Had anyone told her? Had he told her? Nah, probably not. His fragile masculinity probably caused him to change the story to something else so he didn't look like a wimp in front of his girlfriend.
Whatever it was, I was safe for now.
Thinking I'd got away with a confrontation from Wanda, I went about the rest of my day as usual. Well, that was until I was replacing some books in my locker at the end of the day and saw Wanda at her locker behind me, arguing with– yep, you guessed it. Nate.
Y/BF/N was collecting some books from his own locker beside me and we both exchanged looks as we saw the two lovebirds in a heated argument. Just when we were about to leave, someone cleared their throat from behind us, making us turn around.
Wanda was stood there, backpack hanging from her shoulder, beside Nate, who looked like he would rather be anywhere else but here.
"Hi," he started quietly, making Wanda clear her throat. He glanced at her before looking to Y/BF/N. "Look, man, I'm really sorry about earlier. I was wrong about what I said. We cool?"
I tried not to laugh at the way Nate was being forced to apologise by his girlfriend. Y/BF/N glanced to me with questioning eyes, so I simply shrugged.
"I guess...," he finally answered Nate, still a little awkward.
Nate nodded before looking to me. He still had his reservations, judging from the twitch in his expression, but for Wanda's sake, he kept his cool.
"I'm sorry for treating you badly," he said reluctantly. "With the football and just generally."
God, it was so hard not to laugh in his face right now. His nose had gauze taped to it and it made him look like an idiot. I fake coughed to disguise my smile, before meeting his gaze.
"It's, er, cool," I said, not in the mood to be an arsehole to him, even though he deserved it. I'd punched him – I think we were equal for now.
He nodded, before staying quiet. Glancing to Wanda, he waited for her to say something. She rolled her eyes and nodded for him to leave. When he was gone, she sighed tiredly.
"I only heard about what happened after Chem class," she said, mainly to me, a guilty expression on her lips. "I'm so sorry he acted like a jerk."
I chewed my lip, unsure what to say.
"It's okay, Y/N here took care of it," Y/BF/N said, smiling with amusement at me. Okay, well now she definitely knew.
"Yeah, sorry you felt you had to do that," she said with a grimace. "I guess he deserved it though."
"Kind of," I agreed, before noticing the regretful frown on her lips. "He apologised though. It's already happened. I kinda broke his nose... No point in dwelling on it."
She smiled, though it didn't reach her eyes. "Yeah..." Her eyes fell to my bruised hand before lifting it gently. I winced at the ache, but let her hold it, studying the purple bruise painted across my knuckles. "That looks bad."
It felt good punching him though, but I wasn't about to say that since it was her boyfriend I was talking about.
"It's alright," I said dismissively, shrugging. "Nate kind of got it worse. I'll live."
The pad of her thumb stroked the bruise gently and I held my breath, the feeling of her hands holding mine sending shivers up my arm. Her eyes flickered to mine, softened with guilt, before she let go of my hand.
"I should head home," she said after a pause. "I'll see you both tomorrow."
"See you tomorrow," Y/BF/N said for both of us, sensing my loss of words.
Wanda held my gaze once more, eyes half lidded as they glanced down. Before I could even question what she was looking at, she waved goodbye and left.
"She's either starting to realise what a dick her boyfriend is or she's just really into you," Y/BF/N said, patting me on the back. "Maybe both, who knows?"
"You definitely cheated," I told Y/BF/N once we finished yet another round of air hockey. "Nobody wins six times in a row like that!"
He laughed at my expression. "Tell me, dear Y/N. How would I cheat? The concept of the game is simple, really. It's not my fault you're terrible."
I rolled my eyes lightheartedly. "Seventh time's the charm. C'mon."
He chuckled, about to put more money in the machine, before his eyes got distracted by something behind me. "Well, would you look at that. The Maximoff twins are here."
"Very funny," I said with a knowing look. "You can't throw me off like that. We've established I'm already terrible. Now c'mon. Let's go!"
"I wish I was joking," he said, shaking his head.
I scoffed, not believing him, and turned around to prove him wrong, but I was surprised when I saw Wanda and Pietro walking into the arcade we were in. They seemed to spot us instantly, waving in our direction before approaching us.
"Fancy seeing you here," Pietro teased with a smile as they stopped before us.
I cracked a smile as Y/BF/N joined my side. "We're hanging out. And you?"
Wrapping an arm around his sister's shoulder, he tugged Wanda close to him. "Sibling bonding time."
Wanda rolled her eyes at his childishness, but I could tell she found it endearing all the same.
"Well, if you want, you can hang with us," Y/BF/N offered, and we all looked to him, myself raising a brow his way. He seemed to sense my reluctance, it egging him on as he grinned at them. "Y/N doesn't mind. Do you, Y/N?"
I swallowed hard as I looked between the twins. "'Course not."
And that's how I found myself playing arcade games with the Maximoff twins that Saturday afternoon. It was actually pretty fun, with Pietro being as competitive as I was and Wanda being the sweetest loser with everything she played. It was so adorable, but I ended up letting her win some games of skee-ball just so I could see that cute nose scrunch of hers as she realised she'd won.
"You gonna let me win like that, too?" Pietro caught on as he took his sister's place in playing against me. He had a mischievous grin on his lips and I felt my mouth go dry at what he was implying.
"You wish," I said, playing it cool, though I wondered if he cared that I clearly let Wanda win. He wouldn't read into it, right?
Pietro took his go as he spoke. "So, I heard what happened with you and Nate at school last week."
I closed my eyes, cringing at the reminder. Pietro merely laughed.
"You kicked him super hard, right?" he asked excitedly. "I heard his face went so red with anger that you could fry an egg on it! And don't forget that punch, goddamn what I would pay to have seen that!"
"Pietro!" Wanda scolded from behind us as her and Y/BF/N played air hockey. "Don't be a tool!"
I felt my face heat up with embarrassment as Pietro continued to laugh. Y/BF/N joined in whilst Wanda tried to hide the smile dancing on her lips.
"You're not even together anymore," Pietro called to Wanda between laughter. Wait, did I hear that right?
"You and Nate broke up?" Y/BF/N asked with disbelief. "Our grade's 'it' couple broke up?"
Wanda ran a hand through her hair to distract from her flittering eyes. "He treated you horribly last week. Both of you." She glanced my way before looking at her shoes. "He was a jerk. It was long overdue... Also, I would have broken up with him there and then had I known what he'd said to you. I'm sorry he said what he did."
She stared at me with apologetic eyes and I wasn't sure what to say or do other than nod awkwardly and look away. The fact that she'd broken up with him put a smile on my face though.
"I just think it's awesome," Pietro admitted, before saluting playfully to me. "Thank you for your service. I knew you were awesome, but this is a whole new level."
I sighed, attempting to hide my smile, before straightening up to play. Pietro and I played some skee-ball before I decided to have a go at the claw machine. Wanda was at the one beside me, attempting to win herself a fluffy black cat plush toy. She'd had three goes before giving up, admitting to defeat.
"Typical Wanda," Pietro teased. "Giving up when the going gets tough."
She punched him in the arm, making him jump and rub it. That elicited a smile from her, making me laugh at their immaturity.
"How about Wanda and I go and get a table in the diner next door whilst you finish up winning whatever it is you're trying to win?" Y/BF/N asked, looking to me, as if assigning blame.
"I already told you, I'm not leaving this machine until I win at least one thing," I stated stubbornly.
"The amount of money you've put into the machine won't make up for whatever you win," Y/BF/N teased with amusement.
"Just go," I said, waving my hand dismissively. "I'll be there soon."
"I'll wait with her," Pietro said, resting a hand on my shoulder, making me shrug him off jokingly. "See you soon," he added with a laugh, to his sister and Y/BF/N.
When they left, I looked to Pietro with an amused smile. "I don't need you to look after me, y'know."
He shrugged and looked through the glass of the claw machine. "I know. But I stayed to give you some advice, princess."
"Oh, really? And what advice is that?" I asked, before putting some coins in the machine to have another go.
"People usually tend to win these things for people they like, right?" he asked, nodding to the plush toys in the machine.
"Or for themselves," I corrected with a curious smile. "Take Wanda for example. How badly did she want that cat?"
He crossed his arms, smiling with amusement. "You could win it for her, y'know."
"What?" I asked, half paying attention as I attempted to grab a teddy bear.
"Win the cat for my sister and give it to her?"
I ended up dropping the teddy from the claw as I looked to Pietro with shock. He laughed at my expression, leaning against the machine.
"You do like her, right? Otherwise this is awkward," he added as an afterthought, looking down and smiling to himself.
My jaw hung open. "I– er– I never really– I don't–"
"She must definitely like you," Pietro noted, glancing at me.
I licked my lips as I found my words. "Did she," I cleared my throat, "did she say something?"
"Well, no," he said, "but she looks like she wants to murder me every time I hang out with you."
"That's just a coincidence," I said, shaking my head and looking back to the machine. "She's not–" I thought about, before shaking my head again. "No."
I appreciated Pietro's help, but Wanda definitely didn't like me like that. She was just protective of her brother and friendly to me. It didn't mean anything.
"Look, you don't have to listen to me," he said, straightening up and looking at the machine as I slotted another coin in. "But you could give it a shot. See what happens."
I glanced at him, his blue eyes watching me knowingly, a matching smirk on his lips.
"Fine," I gave in, hoping it wouldn't backfire. "Let's see what happens..."

Hey!
I’m back with a question this time : ) Huge fan of your series Happy Accidents - read it at least a dozen times. Any plans to continue it? It’s some of the best GSR fic I’ve read & so I’m tune with their characters with a slightly different scenario playing out than canon but I love it!
Thanks for sharing! Chelsea
hi, @chelsshearman!
thank you for your kind words! i'm so glad you enjoy the accidentsverse so much. to know that you've read those stories multiple times means a lot. ❤
as for your question, well—
at this very moment, there are about 70-odd pages of the next installment of the accidentsverse sitting in my docs folder, and those 70-odd pages focus on the part of the story where the rest of the team finds out the good news.
i've been slowly—and that is the operative word—working on the story, piece by piece, and i very much intend to finish it.
of course, in classic aj fashion, i can't promise that it will be ready to post anytime soon, not only because i'm a slow writer in general but also because a) i'm really busy with work right now, so i don't have a lot of time for fic atm, and, b) i am simultaneously writing the next chapter of "something in you i believe in" (my canon-compliant s5 wip), and my priority is to finish/post that before the next accidentsverse fic.
but i will get it done eventually.
promise.
in the meantime, may i interest you in a sneak peek to tide you over?
under the "keep reading," if you're interested.

She hadn’t intended to still be sitting on the floor when he found her, not when she knows that seeing her this way will worry him. However, despite her best intentions, when his shoes appear in her view on the tile, she is still down, hunched over, breathing shallow breaths through an open mouth, head hung between her knees, back curled against the cupboards below the sink, body shaky and hot under the skin. Her skull throbs with each hard lub of her heart, sour wets her lips, her throat burns with acid, and reflexive tears sting in her eyes. There is roiling in her stomach.
To prove how okay she is, she forces herself to look up at him when he stops in front of her, even though just the act of raising her head worsens the turning in her belly. Wipes her mouth on her wrist. Tries to smile, though somehow she gets the sense that whatever expression she actually manages might be closer to a grimace.
She reaches for a joke, wanting to lighten the moment. “Any chance I could convince you that I’m down here because I lost a contact lens?” she deadpans.
Grissom is too anxious to be playful back or even, in his literal way, to object that she doesn’t actually wear contact lenses. His brow furrows in deep concern as he takes in the tableau before him. “Honey, what happened? Are you not feeling well?”
She winces. “Can I still call it ‘morning sickness’ if it comes on after 10PM?”
As before, her attempt at humor goes unacknowledged. Grissom furrows his brow even more deeply. “You’re having morning sickness now?”
“Seems like.”
More brow-furrowing from him. “Did you throw up?”
She winces again. Leans her head back against the cupboards behind her. Taps the crown of her skull dully against the wood. Groans, never mind her efforts to downplay. “Twice.”
“Just all of a sudden?”
He’s not expressing incredulity but rather surprise at the rapid change in status quo.
For the past few days, her breasts have ached; she has been averse to certain smells, mostly those from hot foods; and she has constantly carried a ferruginous taste in her mouth, as if she had been sucking pennies like lozenges, but until just now, she hadn’t actually actively been sick—only occasionally queasy. Really, so far, the worst part of everything, physically speaking, had just been trying to find meals that sounded even vaguely appetizing. Otherwise, nothing had been too unbearable.
(The doubt has been much more pressing than any physical symptom.)

Sorry the post reached its word limit so I have to add the undateables in a different post! Happy valentine's everyone!!!
Pt.1 = Demon brother's
UNDATEABLES↓
Diavolo:
Mini golf, it was both surprising and unsurprising
He was able to ditch the suit he wore normally to more comfortable clothes
Enjoying the strange golf courses Wincing everytime he shot one too far and completely lost the ball
You were getting better scores than him and he a better player!
"will you guide me on this one? I think I'm going to hit it too hard again."
You smiled, happily moving behind him and putting your hands on his
You helped him control his swing and to no surprise it was a perfect shot
"perhaps I should guide you every turn, you're a pro."
"if it isn't (Y/N), who's this? I don't think we've met."
"go away, I don't have time for you."
Dia immediately recognised your ex, hiding his annoyance behind a smile and shook their hand
"I'm their boyfriend, we're currently on a date, so if you'll excuse us."
He tried to usher you both along but your ex grabbed his hand
"let's not end this so soon, I was close with them, don't you want to share stories?"
"No-"
"I'll go first, as an ex wanting to help you out! Don't bring up a single issue to them, they won't help you at all, they always told me I was overreacting."
You groaned, clutching your golf club tightly
"because you were, threatening to hit me over not wanting to hear you complain about your side girls not texting you back is an overreaction."
"always spinning stories! This what I mean, you just need to be prepared to be in that kind of relationship with them, they'd only Respond to yelling."
"you're the only one who would listen when yelled to and would just yell at me because you could, you're a horrible person and you should leave right now-"
You wanted to hit them with your golf club, fuming at how they talked about you
"they've been very good to me and I've never had to raise my voice at them, perhaps you were the issue."
His voice was still so kind that your ex almost didn't realize what he said
"such a shame they've already gotten to you - oh we need to move, watch me play okay?"
They winked at the demon, strutting off to their new golf site
"let's play but I won't bother you to guide me."
"it's no bother-"
Dia took a strong strike, the ball flying off and hit your ex in the head
But another flying golf ball was already being sent their way
"Sorry! You just look like target with seeing how much you open for mouth, here I'll give you my club as an apology."
He 'accidentally' did it too hard and sent his club flying in their direction, they just missed it
They screamed at him for being crazy but he just kept his sweet smile
"so you're actually a great shot on your own."
"guilty, I just wanted you to hold me."
Barbatos:
Aquarium, it feels fitting seeing he's also a serpent demon .
You held his gloved hand, pointing out towards the colourful fish that caught your fancy
"there are remarkable species I'm sure you've yet to have seen in the Devildom, Perhaps I'll take you to see them."
"really??!! I'd love to!"
He admired the dolphins that swam across the open space around the hallway, watching the way it delved back into the water
"this is embarassing, is that really you?!"
"oh no...."
"it is! When I found you disappeared I thought it was because of me! But here you are and with you're- whoever this is."
"I'm the boyfriend."
He nudged you away from your ex, his mood already sour
"boyfriend?! Already...? What a shame you moved on so quickly, I've been thinking about you."
They caressed the side of your cheek but you just slapped their hand away
"yeah right, leave us alone - I don't want to be around you."
"don't even think about insulting them, are you really going to bring up the past as a way to hurt them just because they've refused you?"
"h-huh-?! What are you- I wouldn't do such a thing!"
"oh...? So you weren't thinking of bringing up the time they use to 'love' you Touching them and was just 'shy' about it? Knowing it'll get a rise because you know that they didn't like your touch."
"how did you-?!"
"I know alot about you and what you plan to do, it would best you step away now before I set your fate in stone - swimming with the fishes."
He towered over them, their back pressing against the tank glass,
their eyes glancing to the fishes behind them
They let out a nervous laugh
"right....well I'll be going then, goodbye (Y/N)."
Solomon:
A fire works show - meant you could spend the mornings doing whatever you want but the night?
That's when you two went Speeding
You kept your scarf close to your face, it being a chilly night
You kept your hand intertwined with your boyfriend's, in awe at the fireworks
"They're not very close are they? i could make fireworks."
He shook his star wand, you were thankful it looked like a toy
"Sol, you can't just use magic when there's a small inconvenience."
"fireworks-!"
Soon enough fireworks came bursting out closer to where you two stood, still a safe distance away but seeing as you didn't get the best spot in the crowd
It was much cooler to see them closer
"No way!!! You're back in town?! I thought you left for good!"
It was almost hard to hear your ex over the fireworks
Solomon gave them the side eye as he clutched your hand
"I know have devastated you were after the breakup, seriously didn't think you'd disappear, I bet that you died or something!"
"do you have nothing better to do?! I'm trying to enjoy the fireworks with my boyfriend."
"Him?! You going for witchy hippies?! Wooow your taste has just stayed shit, hasn't it?! This is why you need me back, I actually gave you good taste!"
"You made me listen to country rap that all sung about beating women - I've upgraded!"
You shuffled closest to Solomon, ignoring your ex as they kept trying to pester you
"Can you stop being such a- are you kidding me?! You're never going to change- don't - ignore- you stupid bi-"
The more they began to yell the more powerful fireworks Solomon set off
Almost completely blocking out you exes screams
It got to the point there had to be a fireworks break due to how hectic it got
"this is dumb, I'm leaving." They huffed as you continued to ignore them
"how fortunate, I'm sure I could of started a fire from all that."
"like a fire would of stopped you, thanks for blocking them out."
He kissed your cheek, smiling
"my pleasure~"
Simeon:
He took you ice skating, unfortunately you were terrible at it whilst he was fine
You were both wrapped up warm as he helped you skate across the rink
Your legs wobbled and you slid to face your almost fell over
"hahah, you're adorable but don't worry, you'll be a master of it by the end of tonight."
You slowly got the hang of it, gripping his arm whilst he just smiled, enjoying being so close to you
"i think I got it-! Wait no no no don't let go!"
Just as your small victory gave you a big smile it immediately dropped when your ex skidded over
"What are you odds of you being here, I see you still can't skate."
"so what? You want to bother me about skating? Why not go back to your girlfriend and leave me alone."
They just laughed
"so insistent, if that's what you want~"
They skated past you, bumping into you and you immediately went flying into the ice
Happy you kept your hands close to your face as another skater zoomed by
Simeon hastily helped you back up, dusting Ice off you
"Let's sit down, maybe they won't be here for long."
He helped you off the ice and you both sat on a bench, he got you a warm drink before sitting down
But it wasn't over, your ex coming to where you were sitting still in the rink
"sorry about that, it was a total accident I swear - tell me (Y/N), what made you come here? I bet you were stalking my page again, wanted to see me?"
"no, I just wanted to have a date with my boyfriend."
"It would be best you left us alone, your presence clearly isn't wanted."
"neither was your opinion, from past lover to new, watch yourself because they will destory your heart and your life - nothing will ever be comfortable or happy with them."
"that is untrue-"
"really? Is it? We all know they just like to use people for their kindness and leave them because of a stupid mistake - don't you understand what parties do to people? Huh?! I'm glad I got with her at that party because she's a better partner than you ever were."
You pounded the side of your first to the table, glaring at them with tears in your eyes
"you cheated on me and blames it on alcohol, when I forgave you - it only made you feel happy to keep going back to her! Don't talk to me like you're the victim-!"
Simeon, rubbed your back, frowning at your ex
Your ex just scoffed, skating off
Your boyfriend suddenly stood up and began to march over to the rink
You tried to ask what he was doing but he didn't respond, quickly skating over to your ex
When he caught up he skidded so far they got covered in ice, grabbed your ex with a smile
And suddenly, you didn't see what happened but your ex screamed, darting off the Ice trying to get away from Simeon
When he finally came back he took a sip of your drink and smiled
"let's head back on the ice, I still have to make you a pro."

Day 3, "Home" - @koriandrappreciationweek
I love thinking of them like a family. They come from vastly different backgrounds but have found a safe place together. Friends are the family you choose for yourself. ❤️
-------
"Home"
It's been strangely quiet in Titans Tower today. Gar and Raven have been out running errands, Dick has been busy with a lab analysis for Bruce.
Kory softly mouths along to the words of the song she's got playing in her ear buds, and wanders through the dormitory floor looking for Donna. "He-lloooo? Donna?"
Donna pops her head out of their shared bathroom, brushing her teeth. "Hey honey, wanna pick up bagels with me for the meeting later?" Kory almost leaps for joy. Any time with Donna is a good time - she's the best friend she's ever made and Kory is beyond grateful that Donna doesn't seem to mind her awkward unfamiliarity with earth. "Let me change into something cute!"
She dashes in her room and comes out moments later trying to zip a summery dress. Donna finishes the zip, checks her phone to send a text and the two head downstairs, Kory dangling her high heels on her fingertips, and Donna pulling her hair into a pony.
Kory bounces into the kitchen only to be shocked by a spray of streamers in her face.
"Surprise!!!!" yells one voice. "Happy anniversary on Earth Day!" yells another.
"Glad you're here, Goldie." Vic says.
"Well, oh my goodness! What is this about!?" Kory is amazed and ready for whatever this pleasant surprise happens to be. Everyone is here - Gar, Rae, Vic, Wally, Dick.
Dick hands her a small, nicely wrapped gift and kisses her cheek. "You've been with us for exactly a year, Kory." "A year?" "Yup, one whole revolution around the sun."
Garfield pipes in, "And what a year it's been, huh? You've tasted pizza and cotton candy, put the Scarapelli gang behind bars, ridden on your first subway and been to a Yankees game."
"And learned to be a pretty good barista at Kelly's, and balanced a modeling job with being a badass crime fighter." Wally always knows how to compliment her in the ways that mean the most. She shoots him a beaming grin. "Thanks, Wally. I think this has been the best year of my whole life!"
Gar puts a paper birthday crown on her head and the team drags her over to sit on the couch. Each has a gift for her - from Raven, a book, from Dick, a pretty "T" necklace that hides the world's tiniest spy cam. Donna ordered those furry boots she had been eyeing from Macy's. "Sorry they haven't come yet! I didn't think of it in time." Kory throws her arms around her friend. "This is the best day of my whole life!"
"We're poor, so we went together and got this album for your polaroid photos!" Gar presents a pretty pink photo binder from him and Wally both.
"Poor? I'm a skeptic," Vic chimes in. "The rise and fall of the good fortune of Logan is a mysterious thing indeed," Gar quips back.
"Alright princess, here's my gift. Dick helped me with it, with some assistance from the Justice League database. Click the button on top." Victor hands her a small metal orb with etchings all over, and a small red button on the top. She clicks it and the orb opens like a flower and shines a hologram on the ceiling with what looks like the night sky filled with stars.
Vic looks at Dick to launch an explanation. "No, you go ahead, this was your brilliant idea and mostly your hard work. I was a consultant."
"Okay. So this is my best guess at the Vegan star system, Kory. It's hard to find exact measurements to go off of because, as far as I know, you're the first Tameranean to make contact with earth. I took some maps off the ship you crashed when you arrived, and did some educated guessing to fill in some bits. But my best guess is that Tameran would be right about here." He points to a pinkish haze in the upper left of the quadrant of the hologram.
Eyes wide, and brimming with tears, Kory nods. "That seems right. It's the eighth planet in the system." She reaches out to brush the pink spot representing where her life began. "Home," she whispers. "Victor, thank you." She throws her arms around him, and he is pleased knowing his gift hit just right.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you everyone. This has been the most unexpected and wonderful surprise! You all mean so much to me, and... As much as I miss Tameran, you've made Earth a most lovely new home. I don't even know what to say to thank you."
"How about, 'Let's eat' because I'm starving and Vic, jack of all trades that he is, made lasagna!" Dick squeezes her hand and nods towards the table. Kory giggles, "Let's eat, then!"

Unexpected Places (Pt. 01 of 11)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Ivar the Boneless X Reader/Bjorn X Reader
Word count: 2.8 K
Summary: As a princess, you've lived in a golden cage all your life, always a piece on someone else's game. But everything changed when the Norsemen came crushing down on Wessex, like waves in a violent storm. Their king spared your life and decided to take you with him to his kingdom, in what felt more like a rescue than a kidnapping. There, you were not only confronted with a completely different culture and lifestyle, but also with two of his sons. The oldest one has his eyes set on you, but it's the youngest one, Ivar, who gets who claimed your attention since the first sight. And he seems to have an unnamed interest in you. Of course you hoped whatever that was would pass, but when unexpected feelings start to flow a different way, things begin to change.
Next part (02)->
{Vikings Masterlist}
×
Sailing Into The Unknown
Walking fast, you keep up with the two Norsemen coming right behind you. Unlike the rest of your maids, who were caught hiding or trying to leave the castle, you were found in your chambers. You knew they'd find you, one way or another, and you'll have much more to gain if you keep fear and despair away from your mind.
You knew this day would come. Your father, the King, was sure of it, and so were you. The political implications of King Ecbert and King Aelle in the last years brought you to this moment. An attack was imminent, and when you were told the Vikings were once again clashing on your cost like the waves, you knew this was inevitable. The only thing you can hope now is that they'll either let you live or give you a quick death. You're a threat, that's obvious. Aethelwulf may be the heir, but you're forth in line after his two sons. And that puts you in a dangerous position.
A yelp from one of your maids gets your attention, and you give her a look. You get why they're scared. These men look like monsters to them, speaking a strange language, dressed in dark, hard material, covered in blood. And everything they were told about the Norsemen, is that they're all savages. Worse than animals, soulless. Fortunately for you, one of the few things you actually wanted to do that your father allowed was to learn the Vikings language. Ecbert taught you himself, and you feel relieved to know what they're saying.
When you reach the main hall, you're pushed to the center, near a table. The maids all stick together, trying to pull you with them as they fall to the ground, using their skirts to dry off the tears. But you stand up, looking around. The place is flooded by them, the so-called monsters. Some are chatting, laughing even. Some of them have their eyes on you and on the other ladies. There's no way to know what will happen next, but you know who's in charge here.
The legend, the man they believe to be a descendant from the Pagan god, Odin. Ragnar Lothbrok. If you want to stand a chance to get out of here alive, that's the man you need to talk to. And, as if being called, he comes from the hall, alongside two other men. He looks, at the same time, exactly how your father described, but also very different. A paradox. His eyes scan the room, and, as you make your way over him, they lay on you.
One of the men who were with him come forward, standing on your way. Looking up, you sustain his stare. “I wish to speak with Ragnar.” You say, trying not to smile at the confused expression on the man's face. Nobody here expects you to speak their language.
“Princess (Y/N).” Ragnar sings songs, and the man steps aside. He has an axe in his hand, playing with it as he comes closer to you. “I was just having a small chat with your dear father.”
“Did you kill him?” The answer is obvious, but still, you need to know. The funny expression on his face changes and he pinches his eyebrows together “My father always said that, if he had to die at all, he'd like to be killed by you.”
“Oh.” He exclaims, glancing at someone behind you. “His wish was granted.”
Nodding to yourself, you look down. You have been preparing yourself for this moment ever since the news of Ragnar's return arrived, but still, your heart sinks a little. “Alright then.” It sounds stupid to ask him to simply let you go. This won't happen. Still, you don't want to face death scared, like your maids, crying and yelling. So, standing before Ragnar, you push your hair away from your shoulders, exposing your neck. “Do it already.” With both hands on your hips, you take a deep breath.
But Ragnar doesn't move, his lips break into a smile. Slowly, he leans closer, his mouth on your ear. “What are you doing?”
“I know you'll kill me. But I don't want to go like them.” Tilting your head at your maids, you shrug your shoulders. “I don't want to be taken as a slave either. So I guess that's it, king Ragnar.” Unlike him, you keep your voice as loud as before. You don't mind being heard.
“Do you–”
Ragnar is cut off by someone's shouts. Soon enough, a man comes, being held by two of the Norsemen. When they move a little, you recognize Edward, the man you were supposed to marry in a short amount of time. He's hurt, a black eye and a wounded lip. The men throw him on the floor, and he stands on his knees. Perhaps you should pity him... But no. It may not be kind of you, but you can't pretend you feel something you don't.
“Princess (Y/N), my lady.” He mumbles, trying to get to his feet and failing. “Stay away from them.”
Ignoring him, you turn to face Ragnar again. “As I was saying, there's no other option in this situation, so you might as well get done with it.” Giving the axe a look, you raise your eyes again. “I'm ready.”
“Don't be stupid, (Y/N)! Get away from him!” Edward shouts, and you run a hand through your hair, frustrated. Even now, he still tries to tell you what to do. You're tired of being ordered around. At least in death, you want to make it on your way.
“Shut up, Edward!” You burst out, moving to stand a few feet away from him, talking in his language since, of course, he wouldn't even dream of learning the pagans tongue. “It's over, don't you see it? We're both dying today, and honestly...” Now, you can say it. You can finally say it, and you can't help but smile. You'll be dead in a minute, but you never felt so... Free. “I'm happy my fate is to die by the Vikings... That's far better than marrying you.”
When you're done talking, Edward jerks forward, too fast, managing to grab your arm with one hand and hitting your face with the back of the other. You taste blood on your mouth, falling to the ground, but easily pushing yourself back up as the Norsemen pull him back, away from you. “You little whore!” He tries to set free, but it's useless. A laugh escapes your lips. “I'm so glad you'll die today. I'm so glad you'll join your devil of a father.”
With a hand on your jaw, you stare at him, shaking your head lightly. “You call then savages, but you were the only one in this room to hit me.” Turning away from him, you return to where Ragnar stands, watching the whole commotion. “So, king Ragnar?”
You can tell he's thinking. About what, you have no idea. From what you've heard, they don't need much thought before killing someone. “I could kill you right here, princess, but this speech you just gave got me interested.” Pacing around you, he swings his axe, resting it on his shoulder. “My wife, a former princess herself, might actually like you.”
“Aslaug?” A man says, and Ragnar looks at him. Following his gaze, you see a man with blond, dirty hair, pulled back in some kind of braid. “She hates Christians. I don't see how she'll like this one.”
“Well, I've never seen a Christian act like this. Have you, Bjorn?”
“No.” The man admits, eyes finally meeting yours, just before you look away from him.
“Well, my wife has been pissing me off lately, so anything that might distract her for a bit sounds like a good idea to me.” He speaks slow, and some people laugh. “So, Princess (Y/N). I will let you chose your fate.” He's back at your face, looking down at you. “Would you rather come with me to Kattegat, or would you rather die here, with your crying maids?”
Giving the women a look, you weigh the odds. Death is final, the very end. Life is full of possibilities... But are you willing to risk it? “Would you keep me safe? I mean...” Gesturing at the other men, you sigh. “I'm sure you understand what I mean.”
“Nobody touches the princess,” Ragnar yells, his voice echoing through the walls. “Is that enough?” He asks you in a much lower voice.
“I guess it is.”
That said, he walks away. Following him with your eyes, you see as he stops by Bjorn. Bjorn Ironside, his oldest son. His name is also well known here. Ragnar tells him something before disappearing, and his son gives you a look. It doesn't take long for you to understand Ragnar told Bjorn to keep an eye on you, since, as you walk down the beach to the boats, Bjorn silently walks beside you, like a bodyguard. He helps you climb up on to the boat, a strong hand on your waist, pushing you up.
When you finally start sailing, you get an idea of their army. Too many boats, filled with far too many warriors. You can't help but make your way to the back of the boat, watching as your home grows distant. But calling it home is a compliment. This was just somewhere you lived, surrounded by people who always expected something of you. Where you were forced to act a certain way, just because you were unlucky enough to be born a princess.
What's coming now, is completely unexpected, unforeseen. If anyone ever told you you'd be sailing away from Wessex, in a Viking boat, you wouldn't believe them. But the feeling that really gets to you, leaving you utterly perplexed is that you feel... Good. Free, even. You can't even count how many times you desired you could just disappear, leave everything behind and go somewhere entirely new. Maybe you're crazy, your mind completely lost already, but you somehow find joy in it. In sailing away, into the unknown, with the very people you were taught to hate and fear.
But this is far better than what your future was holding back there. An unhappy marriage with a disgusting man. This is far better.
Days after you left Wessex, a violent storm starts falling at daybreak. The rain comes lightly at first, but by the moment you stand up, it starts pouring. One of Ragnar's friends, named Floki, stays on the edge of the boat, holding on tight with one arm, the other stretched out. He's laughing, saying things you don't quite understand the meaning of. It's about Thor, and Odin, and othter of their gods. He seems unaffected by the crashing waves. Stumbling, you leave the protection of this dark fabric they hanged above the ship, getting on your knees next to Floki. You don't know what's soaking you, the rain, or the waves, high enough to hit the boat.
“Hear this, Princess?” Floki yells, trying to make himself heard above the deafening sounds. “This is–” A huge wave hits both of you, and Floki almost falls back. But he regains his balance, laughing even louder.
“Will the boat sink?” You ask him, yelling at the top of your lungs. “I can't swim! If we sink, I'll drown.”
“So will I,” Floki answers, glancing at you before turning his attention back at the ocean. This makes you burst into laughter too because you never thought someone who can't swim would face the waves like this.
“(Y/N)!” Someone calls, and you turn around, pushing wet hair away from your face. Bjorn comes your way, grabbing both your arms and helping you stand up. “What are you doing here?”
“She's mesmerized by the powerful waves!” Another wave, hitting both you and Bjorn as well. You're knocked down, your back against Bjorn's chest. But despite the sting you fell on your leg, Floki's laughter makes you giggle. These people are crazy. Nobody on Wessex would be this happy, this carefree in such a storm.
“Come.” Bjorn pulls you with him, back to the safety of the handmade roof. He helps you settle down, and as he does, you lock eyes with him. You've never seen blue eyes like this. “Stay out of the rain.”
“Floki is in the rain. Why can't I?” You snap back, not really enjoying the bossy tone.
“Let the girl have her fun, Bjorn.” You recognize Ragnar's voice, and you find him rowing, trying to keep the boat moving despite the violent waves. There's an empty seat beside him, so, pushing yourself up, you make your way there.
“Mind if I help?”
“If you think you can.” He breathes out, and you nod, grabbing the oar. “Keep it steady... Push, then pull.” He tells you, and you mimic his movements. The thing is heavy, and it takes only a few seconds for your arms to start hurting. But you keep up, ignoring the looks you're getting. No woman would be allowed to do such thing in Wessex. So you're enjoying it, even though you're strength is nothing compared to the rest of them.
When the heavy clouds are blown away, and the sky is once again blue and serene, you bend over the edge of the boat a little, just to better see where the ocean meets the sky, on the horizon. The chaos was replaced by a low chattering, laughter, and giggles. You're mostly on our own, not really speaking to anyone but Ragnar. He's a curious man, and he's curious about you. You're not sure why though.
“Here.” A voice makes you turn around, sitting down. Bjorn offers you a cup of water, which you take and drink after muttering a ‘thank you’. When you give him the empty cup, you wait for him to walk away so you can resume your horizon watching, but instead, he settles down beside you, letting out a heavy breath. “We'll reach Kattegat in a few days.”
“Finally.” You burst out, playing with the tips of your hair. “Sick and tired of this boat already.” Chuckling, you glance at him. He's already staring. “So... Bjorn Ironside. What are you doing talking to a Christian? People here don't really seem to be fond of me.”
“The truth is they're trying to figure you out.” Bjorn lowers his voice, and your eyes scan through the men. “Ever since you stood up with your neck exposed to my father's axe.”
It doesn't seem much of a big deal to you. “I just didn't want to die like those other girls. Whining and crying.” Shrugging your shoulders, you sigh. “I mean, I really thought there would be no other way, so I'd face death with some dignity.”
“Don't tell anyone I said this but...” He leans closer until you feel his breath on your ear. “You kinda sounded like a Viking right now.” Then, he stands up and leaves, back to his chores.
You're confused, to say the least, but you guess that was a compliment coming from a Viking himself. Taking a deep breath, you move to where you were, staring at the calming waves.
And Bjorn was right. Eight days after, you're arriving at Kattegat. The many boats stop at the decks, and yours is one of the first. There's a sea of people here, waiting for their loved ones. As you step out of the boat, you don't really know where to go. Everyone is hugging, kissing, telling about the successful raid. You just start walking then, following the flow until you feel someone grabbing your arm. “This way,” Bjorn says, tilting his head at where his father is going. “He wants to introduce you to Aslaug.”
The Queen who hates Christians. Great.
The main hall of Ragnar's house is full. First, he talks to the people, telling them everything they took, everything they found. There's a huge fire in the center, flames reaching high. You're at the corner, half-hidden behind Bjorn's shoulder, eyes flying through the place. You quickly recognize the Queen, seated on a chair beside Ragnar. She's very pretty, dark hair cut off to her shoulders. But she looks... Bored. Very uninterested in this.
By her side, close to the floor, you find a pair of eyes set on you. It takes you by surprise since you weren't expecting anyone to find you among all the people. But he did. Ragnar told you a little about him. His youngest son, Ivar, the Boneless. The cripple. It's not hard to recognize him, but your eyes don't search for his deformity. They're locked on his face, trying to read it, trying to understand why he won't look away.
Suddenly, everybody standing in front of you moves, creating a passage that leads to the very center of the hall. Glancing at Bjorn, you see when he gestures for you to go. And so you do, stopping only when you're standing before Aslaug. She doesn't seem very happy about it.
“And who this might be?” She asks, taking a sip from her cup.
“This is King Ecbert's daughter, princess (Y/N).” Ragnar answers. “She has some spirit, so I thought she'd make a good friend for you since you too were a princess once.”
“A Viking princess.” She snaps, looking you up and down.
You should probably say something, but what? The woman doesn't like you, and why would she? The big question now is what will happen to you next.
“(Y/N) isn't like the other women,” Bjorn speaks up, and you give him a look. He's pacing around, playing with a knife. “While her maids were sobbing and begging for their lives, she stood before Ragnar, accepting her fate. I've never seen one of their women do anything like that.” You don't get why he's doing this. Probably Ragnar's orders, or something like that. “She even helped with the oars when a storm reached us, after staying on the edge with that crazy ass Floki over there.” He gestures at the man, who loudly giggles.
“And what does this all mean?” Aslaug breathes out, clearly annoyed.
“Why don't you give her a chance, wife?” Ragnar sits back on his chair, taking Aslaug's hand. “Talk to her, see if there's anything in common and if you don't like her, well... I can send her to live with Lagertha.”
“Who's Lagertha?” You mutter, to nobody in particular.
But the name makes Aslaug sigh, and she stands up, putting the cup down. “Fine then. Come with me.”
With no other choice, you follow her inside. But on your way, you walk by Ivar, who's holding a clutch. You try hard no to, but your eyes find him nevertheless. He quickly looks away, and you keep walking, deciding not to give it much thought. He probably despises you like most of the people here.
Aslaug has some slaves prepare you a warm bath. And, much to your dislike, she stays in the room as you take off your clothes and step inside the tub. But it doesn't take long for you to relax as one of the girls starts washing and brushing your hair.
“Did you sleep with my husband?” The question comes with an angry voice, and you're not sure what startles you more. The anger or the question itself.
“Of course not.” She gets on your sight, pacing around.
“Do you want to sleep with my husband?”
Then, it clicks. She thinks Ragnar brought you here because he desires you. And that's a very dangerous thought for a Queen to have. “No, I don't.” Resting both your arms on the edges of the tub, you look up at her. “And even if he wants to sleep with me, I won't accept it. That's not the reason why I'm here.”
“And why are you here, so far from home, little princess?” She doesn't sound like she actually wants to know, but you get the feeling that this time you can actually say the truth. Here, there's no reason to keep it hidden, locked in. You can say how you feel about everything, even the things that could've got you imprisoned or even dead in Wessex.
“I'm willing to tell you if you're willing to listen, Queen Aslaug.”
At first, there's silence. But then, Aslaug drags a chair, placing it near the tub before sitting down. “Well, since I have nothing better to do at the moment, let's hear it.”

Slow is Great
A/N: Found my own little prompt to get the fluffy juices flowing. "I love how you look in my shirt" - I know, typical but I do like the fluff. So much fluff.
Sum:- The first night went great but the morning after is something special.
Tumblr media
.. .. ..
You felt the warmth before anything else. The soft skin pressed against your back and her legs tangled with yours. A smile spread across your lips but you kept your eyes closed, not ready for this moment to be over.
She slept over for the first time last night. It wasn't planned but both of you knew it was happening. Not because of the amount of alcohol consumed but because neither of you moved from the couch when it hit past midnight or when the make out session on the couch lead to sex under your sheets. You smiled again, remembering her not so lady bed talk and how she brought it out of you.
She stretched slowly behind you before snuggling closer. "I've heard morning sex is more pleasurable than night time sex." She whispered behind your ear, curling her arm around your waist.
It was scary how well she could read your mind.
You leant back, reaching behind you, your hand sliding down her side, resting on her lower hip. "Well if you've heard it, then it must be true."
She placed a kiss behind your ear, making a sound that made your thighs press together and your brain melt. "Good morning."
You moaned as her hand moved from your stomach and her finger tips traced along the hem of your bed shorts before sliding underneath. "Mor-ning..." Your eyes shut at her touch, letting you feel everything she was doing with just her fingers. All thoughts were lost as you let her do whatever she wanted to you.
You grinned, rolling onto your side watching Jack catching her breath. "Well... Adult sleepovers are far superior than kid sleepovers." She poked your stomach as you laughed. You caught her hand and brought it up to your lips. "You ok?"
She smiled, and squeezed your hand before you let her hand go, only to move closer. Her fingers traced, danced along your skin. "Apparently I'm not the only one skilled with my fingers." Her devilish smirk lit up yours and you leant in and met her half way for a toe curling kiss.
"I'm glad to hear it." You murmured against her lips.
You stayed there wrapped up in each other, the sun coating your skin, enjoying the slow morning together. Neither of you wanted to get up but her stomach had other ideas.
You laughed and bent down to kiss the grumble away. "Five more minutes." You kissed your way up her body before reaching her lips.
"Only because you taste so much better than coffee." She laughed into the kiss.
You watched her get up even though you were starving but this view was so much better. One hand behind your head as you leant against the bedhead. "How is it that you can pull of anything?"
There was her trademark wink she always teased you with as she slipped into your oversized bed shirt and matching bottoms. "It's a gift. I'm going to make coffee. Join me when you're ready."
You lounged in bed for another moment. Nothing could wipe the smile off your face today. The sound of the coffee grinder got you up as well as the ache for a more substantial meal. Chucking on the closest thing you could find, a pair of sweatpants and tee, you found her dancing along to the tune in her head as you entered the kitchen. The site made your smile even wider as you watched her. "God I love-" You paused, she paused and turned around with wide eyes. "- how you look in my shirt." If it wasn't for the millisecond hiccup and swerve of thought process it would've been so smoothe.
She smiled, her shock disappeared and turned into joy. This wasn't the moment but she knew exactly how you felt because she felt it too. "And I love how you look in anything especially nothing." And leave it to her to make what could've been an awkward moment into a sassy one.
You rolled your eyes walking up to her and kissing the top of her nose. "Where's my coffee?" She slapped your butt for that one.
The rest of the morning was spent how it started, slow and warm. There was no need for it to be any faster. You always liked to go fast but with Jack, slow was good, slow was great. You'd take slow any day of it meant curled up in her arms.
.. .. ..
I know I should post the keep reading thing but like... I'm on my phone and it doesn't work so... Sorry for hogging up the feed.

࿐ ࿔*:・゚.·:*¨༺
You had no idea what you'd done for Gwil to hate your guts but it must be dead serious because he just about didn't give you any attention whenever you were in the same room. It was infuriating, as each day passed, you racked your brain to remember if you'd done or said anything for him to act like this around you but as always, nothing came to mind. All you got was a cold stare, or no eye contact at all, and at the very least, a few sentences but that was it. It made it even worse that both of you were friends with Ben, after all that's how you were introduced to each other, you figured he'd be a good guy as was evident the first time you met, a regular mutual friend greeting; first handshake, small smiles and twinkling new eyes but ever since then, everything had changed.
Every time you went out and saw Gwil, he either said nothing to you but "Hi." or he'd rush off somewhere else the moment you approached him. The cold shoulder did not do anything for your confidence, you were a friendly person and loved meeting new people but this was something else entirely, the confusion soon turned to tension and anger, ripping at your hair during lonely nights in your apartment, thinking why doesn't he like me? Then you went to Ben who just shrugged and said he'd warm up to you eventually, which you found incredibly difficult to believe, you weren't having it, it had been almost half a year and no progress, you'd had enough, you had to confront him.
Your opportunity arose only a week later, during a party at Joe's house.  it made your muscles tense up knowing you were going to see Gwil, and it wasn't fair of him to give you this sort of treatment without a shred of explanation. Everything was in full-swing when you arrived by your lonesome, but you didn't waste no longer than ten minutes making your move, so there you were, drink in hand, when you cornered him talking to Lucy. Walking head held high, you approached them, and Lucy smiled when she noticed you, you shared a kiss on the cheek before exchanging respective compliments on each other's looks, then your attention went to him.
"Hey, can I talk to you?"
Both he and Lucy looked at you before the blonde nudged him with her arm, giving him a cool stare, as if to say, "Go sort this out", which was true since you and her had talked about the situation too, and her response was "It's between you and him, so get in there girl and stand up for yourself", and right now, tonight, you were going to heed her advice.
Gwil took a deep breath and walked next to you as you made your way to the nearest room, where it was quiet enough to talk, but the walk there seemed to stretch on for hours instead of a matter of seconds. You could feel the anxiety flooding through your body when his arm brushed your shoulder, you could tell he wasn't looking at you, his fingers gripping his wine glass a little too tight. Some sort of emotion hung between the two of you, you couldn't put your finger on it but it was something strong, something deep, Great another thing for you to be confused about. What you didn't know is that Gwil felt it too.
After what felt like an age, you entered the guest bedroom, all neat and empty, leaving the impression nobody had stayed in there for a long time. Gwil had his free hand tucked into the pocket of his dark jeans, standing by the door once he closed it, silencing the bustle of the party, but still didn't give you his attention. You took a deep breath and tapped your nail on the rim of your drink, allowing your heartbeat to decrease, opening the conversation very kindly.
"I believe there is something we have to discuss."
All he did was part his lips and take a swig of red wine, leaning back against the wall, crossing one ankle over the other. Not one word left his mouth, he didn't move an inch and it took a lot in you not to start raising your voice. Why does he not want to talk to you? What is up his ass? Fucking say something, you bastard! The tension in the room was too stifling for you to cope with so you spoke again, but harsher.
"Fuck, you should man up and talk to me like a decent bloke, I thought you would be."
And that's when he finally looked at you. Without even realising it, the suddenness of eye contact made shivers run down your spine, deep blue eyes staring into yours, brows furrowed in faint disgust.
"Hate to burst your bubble then, love."
More shivers, rippling throughout your bones so fast you were almost afraid he'd be able to notice you slightly trembling. His voice wasn't supposed to do that....but it did, from the way he said it, from the way you finally saw his eyes in clear view, how fucking hot he looked just standing there, how had you not noticed that before? Because his blind hatred of you clouded that fact. You shook the thoughts out of your head and stood your ground.
"I seriously have no clue why you been acting like this around me. I have been nothing but kind to you, I haven't said one bad word to you, I truly wanted us to be friends but you find an excuse to escape me every chance you get!"
Your cheeks flushed red once the words left your lips, your free hand scrunching up into a fist, nails digging into your palm. Gwil all but sighed and...was that a smirk you saw? No, just a trick of the lights. The point of his shoe tapped the carpet as he looked down at his half-empty glass, collecting his thoughts.
"Not a bad word? I heard you talking to Joe the other week, you called me a dickhead."
"I have every reason to, you barely talk to me. This is the most you've talked to me in weeks."
"If you have reasons, then I have them too."
"Fucking tell me then instead of practically ignoring me! It's childish."
"So I'm the child but you're the one yelling." He cocked an eyebrow, was that another smirk? He's got me so confused? Is that what he wants?
"How do you expect me to react? I haven't appreciated the cold shoulder, Gwilym."
"I don't appreciate you running your mouth."
"Could just tell me whatever reasons you have instead of this."
You and him went back forth, trying to fight each other but it didn't seem to do anything good, it only heightened the tension between you two but a specific kind of tension. One you knew now and one he managed to figured out seeing you in front of him, raising your voice. In this moment, he saw how attractive you were, more so than he already thought, your face heating up and your hair glowing from the muted lights, the dress hugging your body almost provocatively, silver diamonds hanging from your ears and cherry-coloured lips parted slightly between words. You were so sexy and the alcohol buzzing through him wasn't helping, but this was the reason for it all. He fancied you.
"Look, it's complicated." He sighed, resting his head back against the wall. You had to bite back a laugh, is he serious?
"No, it's not. Open your mouth and just tell me."
But it turns out he didn't need to open his mouth, at least not the way you expected him to. It happened swiftly, too fast for you to comprehend, all you really saw was his glass fall to the floor, wine staining the carpet, then he crossed the room over you within three strides, took your face in his hands and crushed his lips against yours.
Your eyes flew open in surprise at the sudden pressure of his kiss...his kiss? You could barely understand what was happening, he held onto you like he needed air to breathe, you could taste the wine on his tongue, it was intoxicating, it felt...nice but was the wine nice or the aggression of his mouth? Questions swirled your mind, it didn't help your emotions during this moment, you didn't realise your mouth had opened on its own which allowed him to slip his tongue in a little and close the gap between you again, the second kiss even harder and more passionate, the softest groan of relief and delight from him ringing in your ears. You almost let yourself fall under his spell before you caught yourself and made a muffled squeak, your hand finding his jacket and pushing him away from you, gasping for a breath.
"What the fuck, Gwil?"
Thoughts circled your head, words bouncing off the walls, your hand brushing over your bottom lip, the gloss transferring to your skin as it had done on his lips, stained and shiny, you were surprised you were still holding your wine glass. He cocked an eyebrow at you as heat rose to his cheeks, he raised his hand almost as if he was apologising but you stopped him, holding up your own hand and shaking your head.
"What was that?"
"I...I kissed you."
"No shit Sherlock! Why? How is that supposed to explain anything?"
"I'm- I..." He couldn't seem to find the right words, he hesitated reaching his hand out further before deciding against it and pushing it back through his hair. You gulped, why is it so hot when he does that? You were so glad he couldn't read your mind right now, if he had heard what you just said, you sure would wish for the floor to open up and swallow you whole.
"You think a kiss is going to solve everything? I'm not some plastic doll for you to play around with however you please."
"I..I know, I just..."
"Just what? I thought you'd tell me with words, I though-"
"Oh for fuck's sake, I like you, okay?"
His pupils were blown wide as much as yours when he half-yelled the words and this time you were sure the glass was going to slip through your fingers but it still didn't, in fact you had a right mind to just down the whole thing after what he told you. You thought he didn't like you...he liked you? If you were confused before, then you were even more now, your hand fell to your side as you stared at him, eyes like glass, you couldn't even blink. Gwil's gaze had turned to the floor, pretending to be interested in the pale white carpet, his fingers moving to the back of his neck where sweat began to form. He waited for you to speak, the seconds ticked by painfully, it felt so long before you said anything.
"You...like me?" You gulped, trying to process his revelation. He chewed on his bottom lip and tucked both hands back into his pocket, nodding as his eyes flicked over to you.
"Yeah, I do, I like you. A lot."
His voice seemed fearful, anxious but with an underlying desperation, like that of a teenager admitting a big brush, it was rather cute in your eyes; first hot now cute? How can he be both? Stop it, stop questioning everything. You cursed yourself, fingers wrapped around your glass harder you thought it might crack. Instead of replying, you drained the wine, it was the only thing you could think of doing. Gwil watched as your throat moved, as you swallowed, he shuddered and prayed he wasn't showing through his pants, now wasn't the best time, especially with how you reacted. You sighed as the last drop fell into your mouth and rushed through your veins, you finally let the glass fall from your grasp and land with a small thud on the carpet. Your fingers came together in front of you, interlacing as you twiddled your thumbs, eyelids fluttering as you collected your thoughts, one deep breath and you looked at him.
"I don't understand. You like me, but you have been acting like you hate me, why do that?"
Gwil didn't answer right away, he fidgeted, hands still in his pockets, his vision now turning to eye the golden lamp on the bedside table. In this light, you could see the sparkle in his eyes, the deepest blue, like a calm ocean, like a pair of warm sapphires, you found yourself not looking away.
"I didn't mean to be that way, I was just afraid." He said, still not looking at you.
"Why afraid?"
"Of rejection. Of you already being taken. I didn't want to admit anything if I had no chance with you." He confessed, raising one hand out of his pocket to massage his neck, your eyes locked to his fingers, wondering what they'd feel like around your ne- Cut it out! You banished your dirty thought and continued the talk.
"The worst I could say is no, and I'd mean it without any offense. And I'm not taken, I think you'd know if I was."
"That's the thing, I thought you were!"
"How did you come to that conclusion?" You peered at him. He sighed and scratched his beard, stubble littering his cheeks and chin, and right then, another X-rated thought entered your brain, You wonder what that would feel like between your legs...will it tickle? Itch? Arouse you? You think you wanted to know.
"Because you and Ben, and I...didn't want to get in the way"
You and Ben? You gave him a perplexed look as you tried to work out what your friend had got to do with any of this. Ben was really a great guy, you enjoyed his company, years of friendship had blossomed between him and you, and you loved being able to see him when he wasn't busy with his star-studded career, but there wasn't anything there to insinuate something more was happening between you two.
Then it hit you.
"You thought that Ben...and me...that we...? Oh god no we're just friends!"
You bit back a giggle. Ben was easy on the eyes, anyone could see that, even Joe said it, multiple times, many conversation he'd told you, "That fucker's stupidly gorgeous isn't he?" but he was not your type. He was more like a brother to you than anything else. Sure there was the occasional kiss on the cheek, hugs a little longer than usual, his arm around your waist or ruffling your hair when you told a stupid joke, but friends did that, they could do that without having feelings for each other. Gwil almost lost his balance after what you said, Just friends...Just friends...
"Are you sure? I mean he's the pretty boy."
"Okay he's pretty but he is like family to me, I wouldn't hit that even if I was piss drunk."
Your mouth curled at the corners, as did his and both of you shared  a small laugh. Your eyes fell upon the empty wine glass on the floor, teeth tugging at your lower lip; you could see Gwil's body shift a little closer, one foot in front of the other, until he was standing before you, chests almost touching. His fingers stroked your jaw, moving underneath your chin to bring your gaze up to his face. He looked...intense but still had a softness behind his eyes, something sweet and hesitant but at the same time, you could feel he wanted to continue the kiss he gave only minutes ago.
"So...no Ben?"
You rested your hand on his wrist, giving him a smile as your eyes went from his to his lips, mouth watering at the memory of them on yours.
"No Ben."
࿐ ࿔*:・゚.·:*¨༺
"Gwil..."
His name was like chocolate on your tongue, as his tongue worked over and against your slick folds. One hand in his hair and the other curled behind your head, back arching with every hum he made against you, his mouth was insane, you hadn't felt such pleasure in god knows how long; he really knew what he was doing.  And he seemed to enjoy it as much as you did, smiling as he pressed kisses to your swollen clit, groaning with each flick and lick, with each tug you made on his hair, and that mixed with the feeling of his stubble rubbing your inner thighs and right above your mound as he angled his lips in the most delightful of ways.
You were getting closer, you could almost taste it, feel it....but he stopped and raised his face from between your legs, his arms still wrapped around your flushed thighs. His mouth was wet, his hair in disarray and his eyes dilated; he looked fucking hot, but right now, you wanted to scream at him for stopping it right when you were about to finish. He could see you were almost angry at how suddenly he pulled away from your heat, he stroked the curve of your left breast as he began to lay down next to you, his free hand resting over his mouth.
"Come sit here."
It took you a few seconds to realise what he meant, your breath got caught in your throat, slowly blinking at him in surprise.
"Are you...are you sure?"
"Yes, you're so beautiful, I'd love nothing more than for you to ride my tongue."
You certainly did not expect something so foul to come out of his mouth but fuck you loved it. A smile grew on your face as you sat up, as he brought his hands to your hips just as you were about to face the headboard, he pushed you in the other direction a tad.
"Sit the other way, baby."
Your cheeks became hot and you were almost embarrassed at how flustered a simple petname made you. You gasped as you got into position, his nose right there against you and in your line of eyesight was his sweaty body, his happy trail disappearing into his jeans, and through those, a bulge was unmistakable.
You'd made him hard and you hadn't done anything but kiss him, you giggled at the reality of it, the embarrassment fading into smugness. Gwil moved his hands over your thighs, giving one of them a slap and you yelped in shock.
"What are you laughing about, huh?"
You bit your lip as you answered.
"You're hard."
"O'course I fucking am. Eating you out did that to me, hell you make me hard just by looking at me." He murmured on you, and before you could say anything, his tongue was back on you, licking back and forth, covering the length of your heat, he didn't leave one spot untouched by his tongue. Moans flew out of your mouth, sweat beading on your skin as he switched between his lips and his tongue, going so far as to telling you to bounce, and doing that was one hell of an experience. You leaned forward and raised your hips so you could move more, his tongue stuck out flat so you could feel it inside you, warming you up, stretching you out, he really cared about making you feel good and giving you the best feeling before you reached your high.
Your hands latched onto the belt around his jeans, curled over his body, grinding over his mouth, his facial hair once again giving you that cherry on top, his growls of hunger and delight pushing you over the edge. One palm slapped your ass cheeks, his name flowing from your lips again.
"Cum for me, cum on my face, sweet girl."
And you did just that, body shaking as you rode out your orgasm on his face, his lips never detaching from your clit, intending to make you have the most explosive high, and it sure felt like that. Your toes and fingers were on fire, your heart shot through the roof and you had trouble catching your breath as he lapped you up, "Mm you taste so good", another slap to your ass, chuckling against your heat, nose bumping on your clit, making you whimper a little given how sensitive you were. You slowly sat up and ran a hand through your damp hair, laughing through deep breathes.
"Fuck, you're amazing at that."
"Thought I wouldn't be?" You could feel his smirk beneath you.
"No no, just...wow."
Gwil smirked wider and gave your clit one last kiss, your eyes back on the even-harder bulge in his jeans. He'd just made you feel incredible. You wanted to do the same to him. So instead of moving from your position, you simply leaned down over his toned chest and started unbuckling his belt.
"Oh I see someone's hungry too." He laughed, hands resting on your red ass. Something came over you, the sexual side of you suddenly arose and within seconds, his belt was off and you were pulling his jeans down. He gave you some help by lifting his hips, you pushed them down to his knees and now you could see how hard he actually was, almost bursting to be released from the prison of his boxers. You didn't want to keep him waiting, you giggled and tucked your fingers into them, and pushed them down to join his jeans, more giggles spilling out when you got the first proper look at his cock.
The tip was pink, precum already forming, he was thick, very girthy, bigger than you thought but still you weren't that surprised. You slipped your fingers around him and gripped him and he hissed, his breath hot on your cunt. You smiled to yourself and pumped him a few times, relishing how warm and hard he was in your hand, the pads of your fingers rubbing over the veins, satisfied with your work, you puckered your lips and wrapped them around the head of his cock, and the noise he made was so fucking sexy, the sweetest groan and the hottest whine.
"Holy shit..."
You concentrated on where you sucked and moved your mouth, your hand tight around the base of his shaft. From previous experiences, you knew lubricant of any kind worked a treat, so you took a moment to pull your lips off and spit over the head, gently rubbing wetness all over his length; that got him considering the deep moans he was making right against your clit. Feeling his mouth so close to you while you sucked him off made you powerful, like you had him in your corner, it was your turn to give him pleasure and in his hand, he hadn't felt this good in a long time.
When his eyes were open, they were on your cunt, fucking you with his vision, his hands moving from your ass to your hips to your upper thighs, gripping your skin as his own hips started to move with your mouth and before long, Gwil was fucking your mouth. You choked and whimpered around his cock, delicious sounds from his perspective, leaving marks on your ass from how hard he was holding you.
"Your mouth's so warm and tight fuck baby I-"
His words encouraged you to do more, fingers away from his cock and moving to his balls, you grabbed one and he let out a cry of delight, jerking his hips up faster until your eyes started to water; it burned but it was a good burn, making Gwil feel this way made you feel good, pleasing him made you feel good. As you squeezed his balls, his eyes rolled to the back of his head, neck craned all the way back over the pillow, his toes curling over the end of the bed. Your own thighs started to shake and your throat tightened around him, and he lost his hand.
"Just like that, yeah."
And with your mouth around him and your fingers gripping his balls, he finished, quicker than you thought; it wasn't even three minutes and you tasted hot thickness, his cum, him. You gagged a little as you removed your lips softly like sucking a lollipop, strings of your saliva dripping from his cock. You gasped and swallowed; you never spat out, it was a rule you gave yourself, what a waste it would be to spit, especially after sucking Gwil off, and speaking of him, his breath was heavy and fast, chest puffing in and out as he came down from his high, eyes glittering and a cheesy grin on his face.
"You're amazing at that."
All you could do was giggle and say, "I know."
࿐ ࿔*:・゚.·:*¨༺
He was buried deep inside your walls, stretching out every inch and corner of you, the strokes of his cock were heavenly, easily hitting your g-spot over and over again. Your legs were wrapped high around his waist, ankles crossed over, nails digging into his back and dragging down his spine, one of his hands gripping the headboard and the other on your thigh, keeping you in place as he fucked you raw.
"Gwil, Gwil...please.."
"Please what? What do you want?" He grunted between thrusts. Tears burned your lids as your hips smashed with his, lips inches away from his, his warm breath setting your face alight.
"Please...I want to cum, I want us to cum together..."
"Oh fuck.."
The way he moved got harder, faster, more aggressive to the point where your legs were turning into jelly and all you could feel was his stiff cock, you could not even get a proper sentence out anymore, if you did, it was laced with high whines. As his body meshed with your own, your eyes glanced at his arm, where his hand held onto the headboard with so much force you wondered why it hadn't broken. You felt yourself melt into the bed at the sight of his bicep, skin wrapped thin around the muscles, a sheen of sweat coating over his arm, more sweat on his forehead and at the back of his neck, face dipping close to your jaw, the air humid between the two of you.
"I'm gonna cum, shit- but I'm not wear-"
"I'm..on the p-p-pill, cum in me, Gwil." You gripped at him, pulling his chest closer, clenching your cunt around him, desperate for him to finish. The "fucking hell" told you he was only seconds away and sure enough, you felt it, you felt his orgasm, how his cock pulsated inside you, even better inside you than in your mouth and you followed barely a minute after when he was still riding out his high, your back off the bed and your legs trembling around him, harsh scratches left deep in his back because of you.
Gwil collapsed on top of you, your fingers finding their way into his sweaty hair, as he slowly pulled out of you, the remnants of what you'd just did together dripping down your thigh, something he found extremely attractive. He attached his lips to yours in a passionate sweet kiss, as if you two hadn't just fucked each other's brains out, smiling as he broke the kiss and pressed another to your nose.
"Didn't think this would happen coming here tonight." He guffawed, rolling off you to get comfortable beside you. Like second nature, you curled up into him, your arm draped over his chest and his over your shoulders, sheets askew down to his waist as well as yours; to the both of you, cuddling after sex was as special as the act of sex itself.
"Neither did I...but I like that it happened." You smiled up at him. His fingers stroked your hair, his lips against the top of your head.
"Yeah? Me too."
You and Gwil stayed there, having cuddle time and striking up a conversation about what this meant for your relationship; you liked him and he liked you but for right now, it was agreed upon that the sex was great and that's what it would be, unless deeper feelings crept in. Time was lost, you felt safe with him, his hand in your hair as you traced patterns on his skin, but as much as you loved having this, you knew you couldn't stay here all night.
"We should get back. Everyone will be wondering where we are." You sat up and gathered the sheets up to your chest, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. Gwil joined you and rubbed the back of his neck.
"You're right about that, let's go, love." He said, and just as he was about to get out of the bed, there was a knock at the door followed by a very familiar American accent.
"I don't know what's happening in there but if you two are done defiling MY guest bedroom, you'd better come out and watch Ben do Jell-O shots off me."
You burst out laughing and your head fell into Gwil's neck at Joe's statement, he chuckled along with you and sighed deeply, eyebrows raised; he didn't want to leave this room either, not with having you in the bed, gloriously naked and beautiful. But still, the two of you had to rejoin the party. He kissed your temple and rubbed your shoulder as giggles slipped through your lips, he couldn't help but smile even wider at the sound of your laughter.
"Well well we can't miss that, can we?"

"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. "
Charlie x Reader Fic
a/n: i used a writing prompt here because there were some prompts i found on my phone. they're from creative-writing-prompts on tumblr (?) omg enjoy 💕
Tumblr media
Word on the street is all about this Charlie Dalton. All the girls in your school can't seem to shut up about him, this guy from Wellton who pulled an infamous stunt in front of everybody.
"Have you heard about what happened at Wellton?"
"God, that Charlie has guts."
"He's single right?"
All this gossip annoyed you. Either they applaud his not-so-daring feat, or they suddenly fancy him. Apparently, this boy has become popular here and you never understood why he would do something so stupid.
You're a real stickler for the rules, future mapped out and planned for, and you always had this thing where everything should be in order. Charles Dalton, that jerk, just disrupted the peace and order you have been accustomed to by turning these girls into boy crazy and lovestruck little girls. His name made your blood boil and it made you lose focus. They never seem to get enough of him, and that's probably because there aren't really a lot of options in boarding school.
Wherever you went, his name would always pop up. Whoever you talked to would ask if you knew. You would roll your eyes and tell them they're wasting time on someone who isn't even worth it. This boy was getting into your nerves, and (rumor has it) another girl's knickers.
There came a time you just couldn't take it anymore. Even your best friend was talking about him with a mix of amusement and disappointment. She thought this boy had potential but wasted it on a foolish prank. Both of you shared the same sentiments, although your friend was obviously intrigued.
You had a lot of homework to do, and with everything that was going on, you decided you didn't have time for this. You sigh loudly and throw a pillow at your friend, exasperated. "Hey!" she said as the pillow hit her face. "What was that for?"
You turned to her, annoyed and stressed from all the homework and drama. Your roommate raises an eyebrow, waiting for an answer. "I'm getting tired of this— this boy!" you tell her and she stifles a laugh.
It wasn't funny, and then she replied, "Who knew that the great y/n would lose focus over a boy?" You ignored her and went back to your homework. There was still so much to do with calculus, and you haven't checked on your science project yet. Your French essay is due tomorrow and it isn't near perfect. You didn't let the idea of Charlie Dalton get to you.
Days went by and the chatter started to lessen. You smiled to yourself, everything was slowly going back to normal. Your focus was back, and nothing else seemed to interrupt it. Right now, everything is perfect for you. Back on the right track to be one of the country's most esteemed lawyers.
Everything was almost back to normal, you hardly even thought about him, and no one
had any more stories to tell about the infamous little pick who caught St. Agnes' by storm. One fateful day, he was once again the talk of the town. Rumour has it, he went out with one of the girls from her class. People kept on talking, asking this girl to tell him about Charlie. All of them would pile around her, and ask if he was what they dreamed he would be like.
You thought it was all rubbish. Charles Dalton? You bet he got under her skirt. Your classmate's story about him being the perfect gentleman was too good to be true. There's no such thing as a gentleman, and you believed Charlie was far from that. People see what they want to see, and you thought this girl just let heard what he wanted her to hear. Quite stupid, you thought.
One day as you were walking around the courtyard, book in hand, you caught sight of him. The infamous Charlie Dalton, in the flesh. You couldn't deny he was handsome. There was an air of arrogance around him, and a hint of brilliance to which you were so. curious about. He was with a different girl, and he gave a smirk you knew all too well that he was up to no good. He dropped her off at the dorms, and you shook your head in disappointment. You saw this coming, but in the back of your mind you always hoped it wasn't true.
He passed by you, and smiled. His brown hair all messed up, with eyes that always twinkled with mischief and chaos. "Hi," he said to you. You gripped your book tighter and ignored him, walking away. Charlie always liked girls who played hard to get. He found the chase to be rewarding. He turned around, "I didn't catch your name."
You muttered something, and continued to walk towards the dorms. There were footsteps following you, and you tried your best to ignore him as he tried to get your attention. "Did you just say your name? I didn't get it the first time." He caught up to you and went ahead. There he was, facing you: Charlie Dalton of Wellton Academy.
You decided to be blunt and said, "I didn't, and no, I'm not telling you." You sighed, "I was asking you to leave me alone." He wasn't taken aback by this comment, after all, it was part of the chase, and Charlie enjoyed every second of it.
"If you say so," he said sarcastically. He is so infuriating, you thought. You looked him in the eyes and you were inwardly fazed by how beautiful he really was up close. You always hid your emotions well, and you certainly didn't want to break that wall in front of this jerk.
"Did I stutter?" you replied coldly. You took a deep breath and once again told him to leave you alone. He chuckled and told you, mocking defeat, "Whatever you say, sweetheart." He waved at you and went on his way. Charlie was amazed, and decided he was gonna try harder than usual. That meant he absolutely had to, because most of the time they just came onto him.
You thought about this encounter for a considerable amount of time, and sometimes wondered if you were to see him again. You were working on your english homework until someone on the phone asked for you. You hate being interrupted, and it annoyed you to drop whatever you've been doing for something so irrelevant. Begrudgingly, you grab the phone and put it to your ear, rolling your eyes. "Hello?"
"Hello to you too, y/n," the sound of his voice made you mad. You tried to keep it together, your friends were watching. You couldn't lose control now, it would guarantee him victory. You whispered, "You're not supposed to call."
"Well sweetheart I did, now y/n, tell me, what are you doing Saturday night?" You ignored the question and said, "How did you get my name you jerk?" You heard people laughing from the other line, who were teasing Charlie. "I asked for a pretty girl and they led me to you," he slurred. For a moment, you felt flattered, but mostly embarrassed. That was officially the worst line you have ever heard.
"Shut up. Now if you don't have anything important to say, I'm hanging up now." You put down the phone and went back to your schoolwork. You can't afford to have any more distractions, especially a Dalton-shaped distraction.
Almost every night, he would call, and like always you would give the phone back, telling everyone you absolutely had no time for this. This boy was persistent. You tried your best not to lose your temper in front of your friends and classmates. That rarely happened. You're y/n, and he isn't your Waterloo.
The day you've been waiting for came. Charlie stopped calling. You thought he got bored and latched himself onto another pretty thing. You were a bit hurt, to know he was exactly what you thought he was but it worked best that way, and you were starting to feel normal again. He wasn't the talk of the town anymore, and that alone gave you the motivation to do everything on your to-do list.
You went out to the courtyard for a stroll and brought your favorite book along. Your eyes widened when you saw him. Messy brown hair with everything undone. There he was again, and he looked like he was waiting. You continued to walk towards your favorite spot in the courtyard, made yourselg comfortable and started to read. "Hey y/n," Charlie said. At that moment, you wanted your soul to leave your body. You closed your book and looked up, "To what do I owe this unwanted encounter?" There was sarcasm dripping in your voice and Charlie raised an eyebrow in amusement. He ignored your comment and asked, "What are you doing tomorrow night?"
You didn't answer. He sat down next to you and looked at what you were reading. "Shakespeare, huh? You've got good taste," he commented. You smiled a little, and felt better that this boy, even for a moment, stopped pestering you. You were a bit glad you at least had something in common, and relieved he wasn't just a prick. He was a brilliant prick who knew his stuff, and you were somehow attracted by this.
You just sat there in silence for the whole afternoon. You were immersed in your book, and all Charlie did was stare at you. The silence was endearing, and you stopped only to find him sleeping. You swore he became more attractive. This boy is beautiful, and when it hit you, you started to think about everything you worked for only to be disrupted by him. You pat his arm gently, trying to wake him up. It was getting late and you had to catch up on your study group tonight.
He blinked a few times and stood up, offering you his hand. You took it and he smiled, looking away. He earned it, you thought. "My friend Neil's performing tomorrow at Henley Hall, and since you love Shakespeare so much, bet you'd try to take a look at it," he said finally.
Shakespeare was your favorite poet, and it's been so long since you've watched a Shakespearean play. It was a hard offer to consider. If you accepted, you would be going with him, and that would make it seem like a date. "I guess you can call it a date," he drawled.
You pondered over it as he walked you back to the dorms. Annoying as he was, he knew how to get a girl's attention, and you were no exception. You didn't answer him, and told him how you were running late instead. You felt his hand on your shoulder, turned you around, and once again there you were: face to face with Charlie Dalton. This time, you couldn't help but feel flustered, and it was evident. He smirked a little bit, and that alone shifted your mood. One moment he was charming, the next one a jerk. You moved away and muttered a curse under your breath. "Come on, I saw that, y/n," he pointed out. "Admit it, you like me."
Once again he was this conceited bastard. You didn't know which was more annoying: his behavior or the fact you were attracted to this boy. You pursed your lips and tried not to lose your temper. Charlie just stood there, waiting.
"Silence means yes, you know," he smiled. You rolled your eyes, and started to lose the cool façade you had going on. "You know what, Dalton? Do whatever you want."
"You're insufferable, and I can't believe I spent an afternoon with you! You're a jerk, and you're too conceited for your own good," you said with so much frustration. "I'm not someone you just plan to fool around with, and I'm sure there's another girl waiting for you to sweep her off her feet. And just so it's clear, I'm not that girl, and I don't want to be that girl." Charlie just stood there, listening.
"You know it's a shame. You've wasted so much time and energy on me, and it's endearing and flattering, and I'll admit you're quite attractive, but you're so goddamn infuriating! And guess what? I could kiss you right now." You ran your hands through your hair, frustration and annoyance rushing through you. His eyes widened as he heard the last thing you said. You realized it was too late, and it's undeniable. Charlie Dalton was so damn attractive and you can't believe it worked on you.
He put his hands in his pockets, and smiled at his feet. You were a blushing mess, and his smile wasn't helping at all. He pulled you in and finally replied, "You're very welcome to do it."

Summary: Sarah struggles to come to terms with her feelings for Luke, Ashton's a good friend, and Luke is an understanding boyfriend.
Word Count: 3.3k
Warnings: implied past abuse. lots of emotions. a few curse words.
Authors Note: More Luke and Sarah content! Here the first part if you missed it. This part may seem redundant, but that's okay. I think this ended up being a vent fic, so please just try to be nice to me. If you ever have any thoughts about the luke & sarah universe just send me an ask!
- - -
Love feels a lot like sunshine on the first day of spring.
Not that Sarah would know what love feels like. She doesn't. She doesn't even know if she loves Luke romantically, how could anyone be so sure of that? Luke seemed so certain of his feelings when he told her and she had been oblivious to it the entire time. All she knows is that she feels different whenever she's around the lanky man. She feels warmth from the top of her head to the tips of her toes, as if she were basking in comforting sunny rays. Everything seems so much brighter and prettier with him, it reminds her of seeing flowers for the first time after a long snowy winter. She doesn't know if that's what love feels like. She could just be happy to have Luke home.
If Sarah is honest, she's envious of Luke and all of his certainty. He's always been so sure of everything in life. Sure that he was born with music in his bloodstream and talent flowing from his fingertips. Sure that he was made for fame in LA. And he had sounded positively sure when he announced his love for her when he returned from tour. She hadn't been so lucky, in fact, she is the complete opposite and doubts everything. She hasn't quite found her passion in life, she often times regrets moving to LA, and she can't figure out all of these twisted emotions. She wishes it could come to her that easily.
“What're you thinking about?” Luke questions, breaking the girl out of her daze. He twirls more noodles around his fork and watches her with his kind blue eyes.
Sarah bites the inside of her cheek for a moment and decides to tell him the truth, “Love.”
The response nearly makes him choke on a mouthful of food and his coughing sends bits of liquid spewing everywhere. If Sarah hadn't grown accustomed to both him and the boys, she would've considered it gross. She also would've marked this as a failed first date, but it's Luke and it's nothing she hasn't seen before. The sight just makes her laugh as she hands him an extra napkin.
“Love,” Luke repeats. She swears his eyebrows might fly off his face if he raises them any higher, “Love, right. What about it?”
“It's just that you were so certain about it...And I don't do love, Luke.”
Luke's expression softens, “I know.”
“You know?” Sarah looks up at him in confusion.
“I know you don't do love. I know practically everything about you. Sarah, you've only ever told me you loved me once and that was just platonically. That's okay. It's only the first date, I shouldn't have been so quick to say that.”
The two sit in silence for a while, the slurping of noodles being the only noise between them. Sarah wants to be able to tell Luke that she loves him, because that's just what you say in response to someone who loves you. It's something you should say if you think you love someone. It's definitely what you say after you kiss the man that loves you, but the words never come out. Someday she hopes she'll be able to say it to the man and mean it with her entire heart and soul. All she knows currently is that she's enjoying the date and every time he smiles at her, she feels warmer.
“I don't do love, but I do other things. I bake sweets, I take care of petunia, and I write really nice music reviews on every app I own.” Sarah finally breaks the silence. “It isn't a lot-”
“But it's how you show that you love me,” Luke finishes for her.
Sarah lets out the breath she was holding, relieved that he understands, “Yeah. I know my fears are irrational, but I don't want not saying it to stop whatever this is,”
“I have to say, I've enjoyed this date and it'd be an awful shame if a second never happens.” Luke tells her. She can see the playful twinkle in his eyes, but the words ring truthful.
“That really would be disappointing,”  She agrees. “I am looking forward to you beating traditional ramen. That's pretty hard to top,”
“Sounds like a challenge,”
/ / / /
Everything has to change. The seasons, the time, and emotions all go through changes. The summer turns to fall and long days turn to early sunsets. Sarah's tough exterior turns into a poorly supported shield. Which she isn't very happy about. She is not vulnerable. Or soft. She is consistent and strong. But she still finds herself lacking her normal demeanor whenever the blond curly headed demon is around.
Ashton invited Sarah over to his housewarming party, so naturally, she drives over with the tupperware full of cheesecake strapped safely in the passenger seat. The absurdity of buckling food into her car puts her in a giggly mood, but she didn't spend the night before baking it just to have it spilled onto the floorboards. She balances the gift bag on top of the containers and tries to carry it into the new home with steady hands. The task proves itself to be more difficult than she expected, because the bag covers her line of sight, and she doesn't know the layout of the house. She's barely into the foyer and she's already hit her hip on the sharp edge of a decorative side table, making her let out a hiss of obscenities at the pain. Ambling through hallways blindly is obviously not her strong suit, so when the bag is lifted out of her vision, she's happy to find Ashton in front of her. And to properly see the entrance to his house.
“You swear like a sailor, Sarah. You do know that, right?” Ashton asks her with a dimpled smile.
“Only because you have a table in your foyer!” Sarah huffs. Ashton laughs and turns to lead the two of them towards the kitchen, “Who puts tables in a foyer?”
“My interior decorator. It's been two minutes and you're already insulting my house, I'm wounded.” Ashton shakes his head in mock disappointment. He points towards the empty space on the counter next to the wings, so she can set down the containers.
After setting down the contents, she turns and takes in the sight of his new kitchen. She wishes she could find more to insult, but she really enjoys it, “It looks nice, Ash. I like the blue in here.”
“Me too, it feels appropriate. So, what'd you bring this time? Since you nearly fell protecting it,”
“I made two cheesecakes just for you! It took some research, but I made them coffee and cappuccino flavored,” Sarah tells him with an excited smile. “Just had to feed into the addiction,”
Ashton wraps her into a tight hug, “I think that might be the sweetest thing you've ever done. Thank you, Sarbear.”
“You're welcome. Just try it, loser. Since you're my biggest critic and all,”
Sarah leans against the counter while Ashton cuts himself a piece of each. She lets her eyes wander past the kitchen entryway to the living room where she can see some of their friends messing around. She can hear Luke's laugh before she sees him, even just the sound makes her heart race. When she does finally see him in the back of the room, curls bouncing as he laughs with Michael, it makes her heart clench. After multiple dates, lots of hanging out, and scattered kisses, she can still feel her heart melt into a puddle at the bottoms of her feet. And it frustrates her more than anything, because this is not her and this is not how she acts. Not towards Luke or anyone in her life. She can't figure out when she started looking at the man romantically, not in a best friend way or ‘just a couple dates’ way, but full blown “I dreamt I married him once” way. She does not do emotions, no matter what her stupid subconscious might say.
“It tastes delicious,” Ashton tells her. It breaks her daze and she focuses back on the black haired boy who gives her a sly smile.
Her eyebrows raise in shock. A compliment from her friend is rarely heard of when they like arguing so much, “Wait, really? I'm glad you like it,”
“Of course I do.” He rolls his eyes. “I know that look, by the way.”
“What look?”
“The one you have everytime you look at Luke. It's the same one he's given you for the past year. It's the same look that Michael gets when he thinks about Crystal,”
Sarah is immediately shaking her head, because she knows that look. She's seen Luke giving her that look, “No! There's no look. Besides, you guys have only been home for like three months, how can yo-”
“It's been a lot longer than that, he loves you and you know it. Sarah, I know you're this protected, cold, and unfeeling person, but stop denying this.”
“I'm not unfeeling, I just keep my emotions to myself. You learn to with five brothers at home.” She tells him softly, “I do love you and the boys.”
Ashton looks up from his plate in shock, “I love you too.”
“You all have been my best friends since I moved here. I've been up Luke's ass since day one and accepting that my love for him isn't platonic anymore is hard. All I've ever known is best friend Luke, not boyfriend Luke who is romantic and soft.”
“He can still be best friend Luke, but with a few upgrades. Admitting that you love people will not make the world implode. You'll be fine telling him,” Ashton encourages.
Sarah stares at Ashton silently. She's never realized that he could read her so well, but she's not sure what else she expected. He could see that she loves Luke and he can tell she's scared. She just wishes these things were as easy for her as it is for everyone else.
“And that's coming from the brother who wouldn't say that unless he trusted both of you completely.”
Ashton eats his piece of cheesecake in silence after that, the sounds of their friends filling the empty space. Deep down, Sarah knows that he's right. She knows that Luke loves her and she should tell him that she loves him too, but there's something terrifying about the unpredictability of emotions. She could tell him she loves him and there's the chance that his feelings could change. Or maybe he would realize he never loved her at all. If something ever did happen between them, could they ever go back to being best friends? Even worse than that, she hopes she never has to go back to being only friends.
What's the worst thing that could happen? Sarah knows that Luke loves her, he may have taken a step back from vocalizing it, but he shows it in other ways now. The worst thing is that she gets nervous and bails while trying to tell him. It wouldn't be so bad, to be able to show him her feelings for once. Right when she decides to tell him, Ashton bumps her shoulder and breaks her focus.
He holds his fork out to her with the last bite of cheesecake on it, “It's delicious, I swear. It's just rich and you're over here feeding me two slices.”
“You made the choice to try both,” She shakes her head, but still takes the fork to finish it. “Thank you though. I know how hard it is for you to compliment me.”
“Ashton complimented you? That's a miracle.” Luke comments. The unexpected sound of his voice makes Sarah jump, which brings out bubbling giggles from both men.
“Don't expect it too often. Anywho, I have a party to host. Catch up with you guys later!” Ashton winks at her, then leaves the two alone in the shiney new kitchen.
“Hey, honey.” Luke whispers as he pulls her into a tight embrace, “What were you guys talking about?”
Sarah snuggles into the warmth of his hug, “Just my absolutely amazing coffee flavored cheesecake and his poor choice of tables in foyers,”
“Sounds like an entertaining conversation,” He chuckles. He releases his grip from her and studies her playful expression.
"Oh, absolutely! You really missed out on that one. Just about as exciting as Ashton could get!”
"That's a shame, I must be so boring in comparison. I was just going to ask if you wanted to come over to my house after this.”
Sarah blinks up at his hopeful eyes and tries to keep the smile on her face, but she feels her brows furrowing some, “It'll be pretty late once we leave, Lu”
“I was asking if you'd like to stay the night with me.” Luke tells her softly.
His face has gone all serious and there's something in the sincerity of him inviting her over that just makes her crack right then and there. Sarah wants, scratch that, needs to tell him about the mess going on in her mind. He always knows how to organize the mess and it's not going anywhere until she finally admits what the issue is.
“I think we should talk,” She lets out a nervous sigh. By the look on his face, she can tell that's the wrong response to the invitation, but he recovers quickly and just gives her a tiny nod.
“Yeah, of course! Let's just get some privacy.”
Luke leads her to one of the rooms upstairs and explains that it's a guest room. He keeps glancing at their intertwined fingers and she knows that he must be thinking of the worst possible scenarios. She really wishes he wouldn't, she's just scared and needs to talk to both best friend Luke and boyfriend Luke. To accept that there's a difference in the two now, but all the same. And she needs to realize that no, the world will not implode if she tells him she loves him. It didn't when she told Ashton and it won't this time. The world will still be here continuing on with life and she'll be a bit more soft around the edges.
Except that Sarah has never learned to be soft or vulnerable. She grew up with five brothers and drunk parents. She was never given the chance to act like a proper little girl. It was always screaming, fighting, and blood. There were never any tears shed or lapses in her tough exterior, because the situation hadn't allowed for it. So, when she packed up and moved to LA she tried her best to push her own limits and act girly. She learned how to do makeup on her own and taught herself how to bake, without five boys waiting to make fun of her or parents to take everything away. She was trying to work on expressing herself when she met the boys and being surrounded by four boys meant that the exterior went right back up. They are her family here in LA and that means having three more brothers to protect herself from. She isn't sure she'll ever get the chance to be soft, but she wants to be. Especially for Luke.
Luke squeezes her hand lightly as the two sit on the bed. Sarah can't make out his expression or what he's thinking, but she still squeezes his fingers back in response.
“Are you breaking up with me?” Luke asks, breaking the silence. The question lingers heavily in the air and Sarah wishes a black hole would swallow her whole.
“Of course not,”
This time, Sarah can feel his warm blue eyes burning into her skin, “It feels like you're going to.”
“I'm not, I promise.” She tells him with furrowed eyebrows. She stares at the cream colored carpet beneath her feet and makes a note to tell Ashton that it was a bad choice. Light colored carpets are just asking for stains.
"I know we're still in the ‘new’ stage of this relationship and I'm really not trying to push you into being more serious. But you need to tell me things,” Luke lets go of her hand.
She watches as he paces the length of the room and struggles to piece together the words she needs to say. Everything is scattered in pieces, the words that Ashton told her, what she wants to say, and the stupid fucking carpets. But nothing is coming out, yet again.
“You never tell me things and I'm really trying to understand, but I can't when you used to tell me everything. If you can't talk to me and we're only three months in, we can't do this. Sarah, I am trying my best here and I don't know what else to do.”
"I told you everything because you were my best friend. And now you're my boyfriend and things feel different.” Sarah says quietly.
“I'm still your best friend,” Luke tells her. He squats in front of her sitting spot and strokes a thumb over her soft hand.
Sarah avoids his gaze, “I am used to being cold, it's just how I grew up. I had to. Then I met you and was able to express some things to you. Now that we're together there's a whole new set of emotions and I have never had to deal with them.”
“Are you trying to s-” Luke starts, but she cuts him off. He just pushes a strand of hair behind her ear and watches as she takes in a shaky breath.
“I love you, Luke.” Sarah tells him. And she waits for the world to implode, for the house to crumple on top of her, or for him to laugh. The only thing that happens is Luke looking up at her with glassy eyes as he kisses the backs of her hands.
“I love you too, Sarah.” He smiles, “Is that what all this was about?”
“I was scared that something bad would happen if I told you. That you would change your mind or you would laugh at me...I don't know, my family never reacted well to me talking about love and I didn't want a repeat of that.”
"Oh, honey,” Luke whispers and joins her on the bed so he can wrap his arms around her. “I would never ever do that to you.”
Sarah leans into the warmth, “I'm trying to get better at this. I just have to remember that you guys are different and emotions aren't weaknesses for you.”
"Never. You're human, you're supposed to be emotional. I know your family wasn't very nice to you, but you're here now. You have a loving boyfriend and three brothers who would do anything for you.” Luke explains softly.
Luke wipes the tears from her cheeks and places a kiss on her forehead. He remembers Sarah telling him stories about her family and how she wasn't too fond of them. She ended up in survival mode most of the time, but it never hit him that she was so cold because of it. He doesn't even think that she had realized that before tonight. She was just scared of emotions and didn't know what love felt like due to family. He hopes that she knows that they would never treat her badly.
“I'm sorry for crying all over you, I promise that it's not because of you,” Sarah giggles a bit, “I just love you so fucking much and I can say it,”
“You can say it,” Luke laughs with her, “I love you more than you'd ever realize.”
For once in Sarah's life, she feels completely at peace. She can do the whole “emotional” thing and nothing bad will happen, because all the bad stuff is in the past. It feels good to admit all the pent up stuff. And most importantly, loving luke DOES feel like sunshine on the first day of spring. Warm, fuzzy, and everything nice.
And she's certain that she's happy. So sure of it. She gets to be happy with the best person in her life and that's all she could ask for.

Saint & Leilani
Saint: So, how many people with my surname have found their way into your inbox today? Leilani: few Saint: I hope those few have behaved and not been too taxing on your typing fingers or your patience Leilani: you're making it sound more fun & scandalous than it came close to Saint: That would be an odd but not unentirely precedented way to welcome you for us Saint: I'm just more than aware how...much, shall we be polite and say, some of them can be, even at the best of times Leilani: 😅 Leilani: are you forgetting which one of you I live with? Saint: 😅 Saint: I am in no way doubting your ability to cope with it, or previous experience doing so, just apologizing for the times you don't feel like being so gracious about their...persistence Leilani: thanks, I think? Leilani: the sentence was a mouthful to digest but I detected some sweetness in it Saint: I'm happy to apologize for my taste as well Saint: and will try to be more palatable Leilani: coming thick & fast but still smooth with it, that's impressive Saint: I'll accept that I'm potentially being much of a muchness with some of the more well-meaning but over-the-top members of my family, if that's what you're saying Saint: but admittedly, I'll struggle to hear I'm on par with certain ones who best remain nameless until I get more of a gage for your tolerance of their particular brand of care 😅 Leilani: I'm not saying much, personally, until I work out how much of this welcome wagon is genuinely what you'd like to say vs what you feel like you must Leilani: to make up for the rest or walk on eggshells in case I crack up Saint: Well, I haven't been instructed to talk to you, if that's what you mean Saint: and without a doubt, I have no idea how I would ideally like to broach this subject, because I have literally no firsthand experience Saint: I imagine that must be frustrating, is it? Leilani: it can be coming from you but not coming from you, if you know what I mean Leilani: deep in there, maybe you've got a whole other convo you'd love to be having Saint: I'm receptive to any conversation you'd like to have Saint: well, almost any, I'm sure Leilani: you & everybody else Leilani: the talk about me is non-stop Saint: We wouldn't have to talk about you Saint: I don't have any particular bias towards the subject of you, though it would be bad manners to ask you no questions about yourself, I can refrain if you have, like I said and assumed, had enough for a while Leilani: it's good manners if I'm in no mood to answer questions about me Leilani: but it'd be my bad to tell you to shush & end this convo just like that Saint: As you've saved me from the mortal sin of impoliteness with your rhetoric there, I'll save you from having to do so and can leave it there Leilani: take a turn in the hot seat, see how you feel about it Leilani: prep if I haven't saved you from 👿🔥 Saint: I'm not inclined to believe the creator would be that unforgiving, but that's what Catholicism will do for your morals, I suppose Saint: Fire away, as it were 🔥 Leilani: you're a catholic? Saint: Culturally, definitely Saint: I'm not sure my commitment to the church is such I can claim myself as fully saved, yet Leilani: mine goes as far as loving the 1st Eid for its treats & ignoring the sacrifices of the 2nd, can't call it commitment Saint: I don't think you're alone in that philosophy and approach Saint: but I don't necessarily think that's terrible at all, as long as you're finding some joy and fulfilment from religion- that is certainly a huge tenant of all the ones I've heard of, so it can only be a positive Leilani: how my friends celebrate 🎄🎁🎅 shows me I'm not Leilani: party > church Saint: Precisely, commercialism argument aside Saint: any promotion of togetherness, community and goodwill, what could be the issue? Leilani: the issue is in the confusion Leilani: people thinking it's something its not Saint: There's plenty issue around 🎄🎁🎅 but no more than most anything in our society today Leilani: if you're trying to take issue with something on any level, you'll find a way Saint: Don't you think problems should be solved? Leilani: if it can Leilani: big if Saint: Of course Saint: I think the if only makes the pursuit of more vital, I don't find it to be invalidating Leilani: sure but some questions aren't if or but ones Saint: Such as? Leilani: if I said, you're the fittest member of this family, let's go out, your answer would be no, becos you are a member of this family, it doesn't matter if you add I would if I wasn't Leilani: the answer's still no Saint: No, my answer would be that there's truly only one absolute in this life Saint: that I know of Saint: there are laws, ethics, morality and codes of conduct in all societies, sure Saint: but nothing is certain Leilani: birth & death are certain Leilani: one brought you here, the other me Saint: I was thinking about death Saint: birth is luck, usually, it's a little different Leilani: 🤔 Leilani: accepted Saint: We can differ on perspectives there, it's fine 😃 Saint: in fact, the father would probably want to put forth an argument for the opposite, now I think about it Saint: worse Catholic than I thought Leilani: I was thinking that 🤰 = birth, the certainty part being you don't get to stay in but you know Saint: I see what you mean Saint: anyone that is here is a certainty Saint: think we're going into Schroedinger territory there, I respect it Leilani: 🙀📦 Saint: 👍 Saint: who am I to say that whatever people are before and after they're people here can't debate philosophy Leilani: these are bigger questions than I expected Saint: And I wasn't meant to even ask how you were Saint: 🤐 Saint: go on Leilani: I've got a headache now 😅 Saint: Oh dear Saint: That's the first time that's happened, I would assure you but that sounds like a losing battle and another knock for my ego Leilani: your ego wants to take it as brush off, retro as hell Leilani: but I don't get questions that deep posed around me is all Saint: Retro...God, just don't take my 'deep' questions as a sign of pretension or I'm getting more tragic by the second! Leilani: it's okay I'm not a downtrodden wifey from back in the day, we're in an era where I can just tell you no Saint: and we're all the better for it Saint: though I don't think I've asked you any question where you'd be directly answerable to me 🤔 Saint: giving me a little too much credit for the universe and it's many questions there Leilani: I don't want your ego to end this convo black & blue Saint: That's very kind of you Saint: but my ability to take criticism could be compared to your ability to cope with Grace, just so we're clear Leilani: Grace isn't hard to cope with Leilani: I like her Saint: I'm glad to hear that, it would be really hard if you didn't Saint: harder, than it is, of course Saint: don't think I'm bashing her really, as I said, they all mean well, I can just imagine that relentless good intentions and meaningful conversations to be had would get very exhausting very fast Leilani: everything's happened fast Leilani: they're all playing catch up to the unexpected Saint: But you're the important one here Saint: most, although I was adding that to try and take the pressure off but clearly that's easier said than done Leilani: this is where I add something about pressure creating 💎 Saint: I don't loathe the sentiment but does it make you feel any better? Leilani: no Saint: then I wouldn't worry Saint: and I doubt there's anything hugely meaningful I can do to make you feel better in an impactful, big way Saint: but if you think of anything on a smaller scale that you would like Saint: don't hesistate to ask Leilani: will you introduce me to everyone in a retro way? Leilani: 🗨  & 🤝 Saint: That I can do Saint: The upsides to this family being as large as it is is that you're never short of functions to hijack for whatever purpose you may need Saint: and you won't have to worry about being centre of attention unless it's your birth, wedding or death Saint: even then, people have their own agendas Leilani: no pressure or as close as Leilani: when's the next? Saint: Exactly Saint: [literally whatever and whenever we want, offer a selection to show your point lol] Leilani: [picks the one where she can serve the best lewk because gotta make an impression regardless especially when you're nervous] Leilani: it's a date Saint: That it is Saint: if you'd rather show up with another kid, I'm happy to come pick you up from Grace's Saint: up to you, of course Leilani: pick me up 🚗 Leilani: I have no idea how Grace is allowed on the road Saint: 😅 Saint: I suppose they reckon the amount of potholes, we're all playing a dangerous game at the mercy of the council Leilani: 🙏 by god's grace like Saint: Seems that's all that's left in the budget 🙄 Leilani: 😅😅 Saint: I think you're in my sister's year Saint: Venus, that is Leilani: what should I think about it? Saint: You know you hypothesized that I was the fittest member of this family? Leilani: it's too late to drop the bomb that I should've asked her to pick me up Saint: She'll need a lift as much as you Saint: but meaning, she'd have taken DEEP offence to that assertion Saint: the headache would be realer Leilani: oops Leilani: & yikes Saint: again, not here on a smear campaign Saint: but I'd be doing you a disservice if I pretended she's universally easy to get on with Saint: perhaps you'll take to each other though Leilani: I'm not easy to get on with atm Leilani: but I do get a free pass Saint: You're doing fine Saint: unless this is your attempt at belligerence, in which case, sorry 😬 Leilani: attempting nothing but no pressure face to face intros Leilani: how could you forget already? Saint: 🤦 forgive me? Leilani: 💅 Leilani: hold on, I'll ask myself what my god would do Leilani: ... Leilani: yeah sure Saint: 😅 Saint: I was hoping distraction only fell under bad manners, not sin Leilani: it depends how you're distracting me Saint: What I offered would depend on how 😇/😈 you preferred your distractions Leilani: if I don't have both on offer how can I possibly choose? Saint: That's completely fair, actually Leilani: I know Leilani: so don't be unfair Saint: Wouldn't dream of it Leilani: is there anyone else you'd like to warn me about, while you're being fair? Leilani: or anyone I should run into the arms of like 🤗🤗? Saint: Warn would be extreme Saint: I don't think anyone is that bad Saint: I would have to know you better personally to say who I think you'd really click with, but there's plenty of us, I'm sure you will with someone Leilani: indulge me in the drama of it, St Leilani: 🤦😅 Saint: Oh, right Saint: you want the gossip of it all so you also have prior information on them coming into the conversations Saint: let me think then Leilani: I miss when my friends wanted to talk about that stuff Leilani: instead of me & my feelings Saint: That makes sense Saint: maybe you and Vee will get on then Saint: there's just a lot of drama to get into Saint: your head and inbox would be rocked Leilani: I've got time Leilani: & my head's already a mess Saint: Okay then Saint: bear with me if my typing speed gets retro Leilani: 😄 Saint: [just methodically go through all that is messed up with the fam nbd] Leilani: holy hell Leilani: I know I asked for that but did I though? Leilani: where have I come to live Leilani: 👋🚕 Saint: Yes Saint: sorry Leilani: hold on I need to just ✈️ Leilani: I thought my mum's relationship history was crazy Saint: It is what it is Saint: we all still manage fine Leilani: by the grace of god again, or whatever other means necessary Saint: Maybe Saint: I don't think it's all that dire now Leilani: maybe when I've come though all the stages of grief I'll be able to let you know what I think Saint: Look forward to it Leilani: I did make it sound really hot Saint: 😏 Saint: we're not all messed up, thank you Leilani: I'm used to being that half of the convo Leilani: you do you Saint: How are you messed up then? Leilani: other than having no parents now? Saint: Yeah Leilani: I'm not doing this right Leilani: any of it Saint: What aren't you doing right? Leilani: I miss her but like she's gone on holiday or a work course Leilani: not like she's never coming back Saint: Well, what's the first stage of grieving Saint: you feel like you aren't missing her hard enough, but if you were out of denial already, you'd actually be taking it way too fast Saint: be rude, right? Saint: Think of it like that Leilani: my rudeness is worse, wanting to hang out with my friends how I did before Leilani: care about 👗👠💄 Saint: Your entire world has been turned upside down Saint: of course you're craving normality Saint: I'm not just saying all this to appease you Saint: you're a kid that just lost her mum Saint: I literally do not believe there's any way you could get through this that would be wrong, or would reflect poorly on you Leilani: she needs to walk back in & badmouth all her worst clients Leilani: she can't be lost Saint: I'm so sorry Saint: that it's so unfair Leilani: unfair was when my dad stopped sending money & letters after going back home for what he said would be a few months Leilani: this is Leilani: I don't even know Saint: How old were you? Leilani: does it make a difference? Saint: Did it? Leilani: I'd just started school, so financially, yeah Saint: Do you know what he's doing now, like, where he is? Leilani: no Leilani: my mum said he had another family there Leilani: someone he was actually married to Saint: Right Saint: that was a cowardly thing for him to do Saint: the minimum would've been financial support Leilani: sadly I can't get it backdated Leilani: imagine Leilani: 👗👠💄 Saint: I'd have to look into it Saint: but probably not Saint: very hard to enforce at any rate Leilani: & taking food out of his other children's mouths, assuming he has some others Saint: Yeah Saint: but you can't be held responsible for his life choices Leilani: neither can they then Saint: I meant it'd be his problem to worry about and solve Saint: but I can understand not wanting to literally steal candy from a baby, as it were Leilani: I haven't been his problem for years, I'm Grace's now Leilani: this family's with all their existing crazy Saint: Okay, getting in contact with your dad for reparations isn't the first step Leilani: it's a mis-step Leilani: he fell off the earth, I'm not following him Saint: Okay Saint: so, what would you be doing with your friends today, if things were normal? Leilani: 🛍 Saint: So, I'll give you both options Saint: I can drive you to your friends, or whatever 🛍 you go to with them Saint: or you can come 🛍 with me Leilani: you can take me Leilani: they don't know how to act now that I'm 💣💥 Saint: they probably think they're giving you time Saint: but really, they're asking for it Saint: at least, that's how I see it Saint: maybe next weekend, or the next Saint: but we can go for now Leilani: it's okay, I wouldn't deal any better if the roles were reversed Leilani: it's not their bad that there's nothing to say or do Saint: You're very fair Saint: not to detract from how much of a 💣💥 you feel Leilani: you're flattering me like I'm not a 💣💥 Leilani: I don't know what that says about you Saint: It's honesty, not flattery Saint: The situation is a 💣💥 Saint: I've seen people handle significantly worse, that's all Leilani: it feels nice, honesty doesn't usually Saint: that's a resounding endorsement Saint: probably a bit too smug to put on a poster or LinkedIn but still, I appreciate it Leilani: you know what I mean, honesty is usually like that 💅 isn't the one or you need braces, child Saint: I think people purposefully conflate being honest with being rude Saint: but you can weaponize anything if you're that sort of person Leilani: yeah ☕ Saint: There's plenty of that sort at church Leilani: & the salon Saint: I've spent less time there myself but I imagine they're much of a muchness Saint: 👵 they all love me, obviously but father is a perfect case study for diplomacy Leilani: it's a type of church for some people Leilani: they take it as serious as a religion Saint: Hair and beauty has always been important Leilani: they just like being able to see results, there's no guarantee when you pray Saint: I'd argue there's no guarantee you get the result you wanted Saint: perhaps even less than 🙏 Saint: maybe you get what you need, not what you want Leilani: 😅😅 Leilani: maybe not for 👵 if they're trying to look 👩 Saint: it highlights the limitations of communication Saint: you think you've asked concisely for one thing, and you end up with something that's nothing like that at all Leilani: I swear I did see my mum work some genuine miracles, that said Saint: It is without a doubt impressive what can be achieved Leilani: what do you want to be? Saint: I want to work for the government Leilani: we haven't been talking that long but that has come through Saint: Is there any particular way you'd like me to take that honesty? Leilani: as a compliment? Leilani: I think Saint: 😅 I think I can manage that then Leilani: I'll tell you what I used to want to be when I was a child, that's weirder Saint: Not admitting it's weird, but go on Saint: I'm intrigued Leilani: clues: Leilani: 🦷💉🥛😁 Leilani: 🚫🍬🍭🍫 Saint: Okay, question, just the one Saint: did you want to be rich or did you just really care about oral hygiene? Leilani: I wanted to make people pretty like my mum, I suppose was the thought process Leilani: & 😁 = happy Saint: So it's even more adorable than I first thought Saint: you don't want to be a dentist anymore? Leilani: the reality is way more gory than I knew then Saint: That's enough to give me a headache Leilani: I need a job with no blood or pus Leilani: even typing that made me feel weird Saint: 😖 Saint: Subject change Saint: are you going to buy anything today? Leilani: do I need to dress to impress your family or just myself? Saint: do you want me to invite my family out shopping with us? Leilani: you do have a lot of sisters Leilani: but you know I meant do I need a new outfit for this meet & greet you're taking me to of the entire extended clan Saint: Oh, gotcha Saint: dress for yourself, of course Saint: unless dressing to impress makes you feel more at ease, in which case, go for that and you won't be alone Leilani: it can't hurt Saint: No, there we go then 😊 Saint: though you can still do the aimless browsing I know 🛍 trips are really about, of course Leilani: are you looking to dress up too? Saint: I like to look presentable Leilani: oh good becos if it was just me, Grace & your sister that'd be a statement Saint: 😅 Saint: don't worry, it won't be Leilani: I'll do my happy dentist 😁 then Leilani: as I'm thrilled Saint: I'm just as 😁 to hear that Leilani: I'll try not to turn it into a frown with excessive browsing Leilani: no promises Saint: I've got a lot of sisters, as you said Saint: I'm sure I'll cope Leilani: which one's your favourite? Saint: which sister? 😂 Saint: I'm not sure there's a diplomatic way to answer that Leilani: answer it honestly, I can promise not to slide in to share the news Saint: Well, Jay is older and we didn't meet her until she was a kid so that combined with her personality makes her the most chilled out now Saint: Vee is younger but still close enough that we were kids together, so that makes her prime annoying younger sister category Saint: then the twins are that much younger that they get to be removed from that, and I have more of that protective older brother in me Leilani: Okay so Jay's your fave Leilani: what's your brother like? Saint: No, I didn't say that Saint: but she wasn't here in the beginning and she's grown up and gone now, it's easy to have less negatives to say about her Leilani: how old were you when you met? Saint: I was about 3 when we found out about her Saint: but the process took a while because she had a dad that raised her and still wanted to even though she wasn't his like he thought Saint: I think I was about 8 when she moved in and spent most of her time with us Leilani: that must have been such a weird time Saint: it was Saint: Vee was born around the time we found out about her so Saint: that was a trial too Leilani: your parents have had a LOT going on Saint: Yes, it seems to be their forte Leilani: your brother then Saint: he's younger too, so again, protective Saint: probably because we're outnumbered too Leilani: an if question Leilani: if you had to give me one of them, as an only child, which one would you give me? Saint: 😂 an odd request but okay, let me 🤔 Saint: Probably Sekh Saint: from the short conversation we've had, you have things in common, that would work well 🛍👠💄👗 Leilani: you're gonna separate the twins? very disney channel Saint: It was either lump them in together there and offend them, or separate and acknowledge that they're separate people Saint: they'll understand 😅 Leilani: 😅 Leilani: safer if I ask Grace for a pet instead Saint: Sure that she'd be down for that Saint: 🐰🐹🐱🐶🐠? Leilani: 🤔 Saint: That is a big decision Saint: best to take your time, decide how much effort you wanna put in to day to day care Leilani: 🐱 or 🏠🐰 Saint: Cute Saint: got any names or do you need to see it before assigning one Leilani: it feels fairer to meet them 1st Saint: 👍 Saint: we can go to the nearest pet shop/shelter if you'd like Leilani: adopt don't shop, St Leilani: or else 👿🔥 Saint: Indeed 😏 Saint: but you know most shops rescue their animals now anyway Saint: except fish...but I don't know how we're morally meant to feel about breeding fish? Leilani: we won't buy any, be on the safe & 😇 side Saint: It's your day Saint: I wouldn't try to bring you down to 👿🔥 levels Leilani: thanks, I have only just moved in Saint: Definitely not my intention with this conversation, or any going forward Leilani: that comes through too Saint: Is that a compliment? Leilani: I don't know if you're 😁 or not to be a good & polite boy Saint: Why would I want to be anything less 😇? Leilani: becos of your name maybe Saint: Subverting expectations Saint: I'd argue people expect the opposite from me though, regardless of my first name Leilani: in your case pressure makes 😇 Saint: 🤞 I hope so Leilani: I'll subvert expectations for us both Saint: Is that your new plan? Leilani: I don't really have one Leilani: other than the 🛍 Saint: Well, you have time Leilani: yeah, it's the keyword that's getting thrown around most atm Saint: It's not provably true but it's most likely the case Leilani: & it'll fill an awkward silence Saint: I can clearly talk enough for the both of us Saint: it doesn't need to be awkward Leilani: this isn't, but remember how we ref-ed that you weren't the only McKenna in my 💬📱 Saint: Right Saint: is there anything you'd like me to do, beyond the formal introductions Saint: politely suggest some people give it some time, perhaps? Leilani: use the time thing against them, I like it 😅 Saint: Only fair 🙂 Saint: consider it done Leilani: we're back into retro hubby & wifey territory Saint: You think? Leilani: it's very defence squad but I'm not 😤 Saint: I'm not helping you because you're a girl and I'm a boy Saint: just because I have the ability to Leilani: I know, you're coming across capable Saint: I'd like to think so Saint: but bragging about it would not be 😇 nor helpful Leilani: I've got your back in hyping you up a 😇 amount Saint: That's sweet Saint: I promise my ego is not that fragile that I need you to but it's still nice Leilani: I'd like to think I am Leilani: that it's not all doom & gloom in me, but maybe time will have to tell, annoyingly Saint: It shows Saint: honestly Saint: you aren't what's happened to you, even if that is all you can think about right now, or feel it's all you're meant to, or are allowed to, whatever Leilani: whether or not I'm her death, I was her life Leilani: there's credit for how she raised me, I mean Saint: Definitely Saint: I don't know you yet, but I would like to get to know you, from what I've seen Saint: I won't throw out proud for her but, you know Saint: I would be in her position Leilani: I don't know what to say Leilani: that feels above nice to hear Saint: I'm almost certain she would want you to know that, at the very least Leilani: yeah, she would Leilani: she wasn't too humble for a brag Saint: 😅 Saint: you should continue that tradition then Leilani: you'll regret saying that when I make you take 10000000000000s of pictures of me posing in different 👗 Saint: 😏 I'll have to buy myself something expensive to cope, I'm sure Leilani: ⌚️ so you can keep an eye on the time Saint: I have an uncharacteristically free day today Saint: my time is yours Leilani: what are we waiting for? come get me Saint: That's what I was waiting for Saint: I'll be with you shortly Leilani: consent given Saint: 👍

The New Girl, Part 1
Tumblr media
I'm going to hijack something else from you today, @m-faithfull. 😁 I saw you post this pic a little while back, and I was itching to write for it. Here you go, a leonine Robert going in for the kill. 😬 Just felt like making him a little more forward this time around.
Thanks to @starchild0985 for the argument idea a while ago, and thanks to @firethatgrewsolow for the sanity check on the emotional stuff. ❤️❤️❤️
Not smut yet, but there are "adult undertones." 😎
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You round the corner with the food cart and hear them before you see them: the blaring radio and the boisterous, British-accented speech. And then there's a fearsome, metallic crash--a large, glass something, likely hurled into trash can.
You park across from the doorway, look into the room, and take a deep breath. It's your first night on the job, your first time serving a bunch of rock stars and their entourage. You've heard the stories and know that anything is possible in the green room: arguments, fist fights, food fights, hasty sex, even musicians too drunk or high to perform. But it's not just anxiety about the possible mood in the room that gives you pause. You are a huge Led Zeppelin fan, and you are as ashamed about your pink polyester work dress as you are excited to meet the young legends. You've daydreamed about meeting Robert, in particular, but certainly never under these circumstances.
You're glad to have had time to pull your copy of Led Zeppelin IV out of your locker while no one was looking and stash it on the bottom shelf of the cart, hidden behind the long, white tablecloth. An autographed vinyl would be a happy memory of the night, even if everything else went crazy.
Bonzo starts talking, and you realize things are not as jovial as you'd hoped.
"All I'm saying, Perce, is less talk between songs!" Bonzo's voice is colored with exasperation. "We both know damn well that you're just scanning the crowd to skim the finest birds off the top for yourself, innit?"
You're not sure if you should make your way into the room or stay out of the fray for a while. Since no one has noticed you yet, you decide to watch what happens next.
"How do you mean, Bonzo?" Robert's voice has all of the charm you'd expect to hear, but you don't know if his soothing tone will be enough to defuse the situation.
"All I'm doing," Robert continues, "is showing love and gratitude to the audience and setting the scene for you lot to release the sturm und drang, as it were."
"Fucking hell, Robert. Admit it, that's not the release you're most worried about! The crowds are bigger than in Birmingham, but you haven't changed your horny bastard ways one bit, matey…"
"It seems the song does indeed remain the same," Jimmy muses with a chuckle.
"I'm just surprised he ain't have a knee trembler onstage yet. G, Pagey, you're really lucky he didn't hump a pillar when you came to check him out back then. That's the sort of bollocks that I don't miss from this one." He frowns and takes a huge sip of his beer.
It seems this story is new to Jimmy and G, the imposing man you understand to be the manager. Both men exchange glances and shake their heads.
"Fuck it all!" Robert uncrosses his arms and picks up a cigarette package and lighter from the table. "Don't believe me, then." He turns his back on his critics and lights a cigarette.
You get a glimpse of his pout and his elegant fingers, marveling at how cute he looks when he's upset. Somehow this vision has neutralized any red flags raised by Bonzo's stories. You don't know why you can excuse Robert for things that would make you cold to anyone else. You are a little wary, but you know any objections you have left could be swept away with something as light as his sinful whisper in your ear, the brush of his lips against your neck, and the feathery touch of his fingers on your bud.
You are in danger of slipping deep into fantasy and decide to enter the room now to save yourself. Part of you wants to get your work over with, get your autographs, stargaze at the band and leave, but part of you wants to offer whatever comfort you can to the grumpy Robert before your eyes--just about anything he'd ask for.
Everyone else has moved on in a few different conversations. This ends up being a lucky occurrence for Robert, who is still sulking alone and notices you first.
He drops the hand with the cigarette by his side while he familiarizes himself with you. Then he lets loose with a dazzling smile.
G, the rest of the band, and the others in the room focus on you a beat later, while Robert quickly stubs out his cigarette in an ashtray. "And food saves the day. Your timing is impeccable, darlin'. Allow me to be your knight in denim and help you with that cart." He sidles up to you and rests one hand on your shoulder and the other on top of your hand. He winks at you, and you step aside so he can move the cart.
You drink in the sparkly, mostly open button-down that is hanging off of his broad shoulders, thankful that it ends just above the bulge in his jeans that won't be denied, so you can sneak a peek.
He is every bit as flirtatious as you've gleaned from the radio interviews. You get the impression that he doesn't mind the uniform you're wearing, that he's looking way past it in his mind, that he'd still flirt with you if you were wearing a potato sack. It is both a relief and something that leaves your stomach jittery.
"Our wonderful caterer…" he stares for a long time at the general region of your name tag, licks his lips, and relays your name with a wicked grin, "has brought the real food. Orange juice for Jimmy? And sandwiches and crisps for the rest of us. No need to gorge on three-day-old bananas anymore… Although there's one aged almost 25 years that's highly recommended, if you're into that sort of thing…" Robert murmurs the last part for your ears only.
You blush and are stunned by his boldness, but you get your bearings quickly, realizing things will be as out of control as you anticipated. You can't deny that you would love to spend some time alone with Robert, and you're ready to see what other bold moves he has in store.
You steady yourself to throw some of your own boldness his way. "Well, they are good for you--delicious and incredibly filling… And I do like them ripe, personally, so…" You reply just as softly and gaze into his eyes.
Inside of the stare, the two of you are zapped by a mutual, high-voltage flash of interest. Your heart races, and your body throbs.
"Prime example, this is!" Bonzo interjects from the couch. "Percy Plant plucking another flower for himself!"
"Not now, Bonzo," Robert mutters, still looking into your eyes.
You blink rapidly, realizing all eyes are on you. "Sorry… It's my first night here… I-- I've got to set these things out," you stammer to Robert. You want him, but to have things so very obviously play out in front of so many people… A curtain of shame weighs heavy on the lust that has engulfed your body.
Before you can pick up the tray of sandwiches, Robert steps in. "Allow me, love." He notices your conflicting emotions and removes all of the food from the cart for you. You're glad for his help because you feel lightheaded. The last thing you need to do is drop a tray of food on your first night and draw the ire of the rambunctious group.
"What's this, then?" Robert has peeked under the tablecloth and has found your record. "Fancy some autographs from us heathens?" He holds up the album for everyone to see.
"One of my favorites. I must commend your good taste." Jimmy's tip of his glass to you and his friendly words lighten your tension. Your thank-you to him is for his compliment as much as it is for the lifeline to normalcy that he has thrown.
Robert places a hand on your shoulder. "You know what? I'll let the rest of the lads sign first. You look like you could use some help getting this cart back where it belongs, yeah?"
You get the sense that Robert genuinely wants to blot out your embarrassment, but you know that he has other, wolfish desires alongside his altruism. You're okay with that, and you don't question why.
"That would be great." A weak smile grows stronger on your face as you think of how exciting a stolen moment with Robert will be.
"Yes, allow me to drive this for you then?" He begins to push the cart to the door.
"Thirty minutes until showtime, Robert," G calls out, knowing he won't return right away.
Robert doesn't respond to G but does motion for you to join him in the hall. You tell him which way to turn. You're back to bursting with excitement again as you leave the room in the distance.
Chapter Three.
"You're just a stupid little girl who has done nothing but ruin everything I've ever worked for - your father would be ashamed"
"I'm glad your father's dead, he doesn't have to see what a wretch and a cancer you've become"
"Police Academy?! Ha! Maybe I'll get lucky and someone sensible with half a brain will shoot you like your failure of a father"
Ava woke with a start, her body jolting upright, her eyes still heavy with sleep unable to focus on her unfamiliar surroundings as her heart pounded erratically and her chest heaved as she struggled to shake off the remnants of the all too familiar dream. Too caught up in regaining her composure she never noticed the bucket of water or the person throwing it until she was drenched and spluttering. Her hands came up to rub her eyes in an attempt to once again clear her vision before throwing a glare at the offending person "'bout time you woke up, almost thought you'd died and saved me a whole lotta trouble" a roll of her eyes indicated she'd heard him, she just refused to give him a reaction. Of fucking course it'd be Jacob Seed to get her wet in the frosty early morning air and not in the good way. "Fuck off, Seed" came her irked reply mentally slapping herself for actually responding to him "someone wake up on the wrong side of the cage this morning?" a question asked without an ounce of genuine care and a smirk so fraudulent it made her old Barbie dolls seem a hundred per cent real in comparison. Ava didn't reply and instead huffed in annoyance; she was exhausted and her entire body ached from having to sleep on the dirty floor all night so she was in no mood for being patronised by an asshole choosing to focus on trying to untangle the mess of brunette hair with nothing but her fingers - unsuccessfully I might add which only worsened her already sour mood. Refusing to give up her hands continued as best they could to untangle some of the easier knots and avoiding the still tender area of where she'd been struck a few hours earlier.
Cerulean blue eyes watched as she stubbornly refused to give up enjoying the small huffs of frustration he'd hear occasionally. If he was any sort of gentleman he'd offer her an extra set of hands but he found watching her struggle much more entertaining. Instead the former army marksman took the opportunity to study the young woman sitting awkwardly in his cage; always know your enemy he thought as his gaze wandered over her. Now that it was daytime he could get a good look at her; hair a chocolaty brown and even though it was currently a mess you could see she took care of it, she must have been about 5"2 and a hundred and five pounds if that which surprised him considering she put quite a bit of force into the kick to his face last night - not enough to hurt him too much but she still managed to draw blood. That didn't mean anything to him though, she was still weak and he looked forward to putting her through her paces and beyond but for now his studying continued now noting her eyes that were a sea green "you getting off on this, Seed?" then there was that mouth of hers always too quick with a smart remark and a sarcastic comment - that would soon change, he'd break that bad habit first. "You could have avoided all of this if you and your friends had just walked away" which was true but Ava wasn't about to admit that especially not to Jacob who currently sat upon a metal chair, his large arms folded across his chest whilst his legs stretched out before him crossing at his feet; dickhead came to mind as she finally gave up on trying to tame her unruly hair and turned her attention to the eldest of the three siblings. Easier to see him properly within the early morning rays of sunshine peeking through. The photos provided within the manila folder didn't give much detail; too grainy to actually make anything out but now in the morning light she noticed just how beautiful his eyes were and yes, she hated herself for admitting it and yes, she almost threw up in her mouth but she couldn't deny that they were strikingly beautiful and one of the first things she'd noticed. His scars and his burns weren't even on her radar as she casually studied him whilst his attention was momentarily elsewhere, of course they were noticeable and of course she was curious about them; how had he gotten such severe scarring? Did they bother him? Then she snorted realising what a stupid thought that was - it was Jacob Seed as if anything bothered him.
Her snort caught his attention and his eyes snapped back to her making her look away "somethin' funny?" completely ignoring his question Ava rose to her knees and shuffled until she was at the front of the cage "to answer your previous statement. If you and your freakshow of a family acted like decent human beings none of this would have happened" she spat venomously, her facial expression twisting into something that conveyed hatred. Within an instant Jacob's demeanor changed from one of mild amusement and boredom to that of white hot rage, his hands came up to slam on the bars of the cage as he shot forward making the young woman fall back in fear and shuffle as far back as possible - everyone knew not to slander his family in anyway but apparently Ava didn't get that memo and instantly regretted running her mouth as she saw the sheer anger in his glare and the way his hands gripped the bars hard enough to turn his knuckles white. She wasn't afraid to admit that she was terrified right now but her wide green eyes couldn't look away "don't ever talk ill of my family" his voice despite being low was filled with rage and a fierce protectiveness that almost sounded like a growl, it made a chill run down her spine. If making situations worse by running your mouth was an Olympic event Ava would get gold everytime, it was a talent and right now it was one she wished she never had.
His gaze lingered on her for a few more moments as if contemplating his next move and Ava just prayed to whatever higher power that existed that it didn't involve him opening the cage. Instead Jacob released his grip, stood swiftly from the chair and moved towards two of his Chosen; unable to hear what he was saying Ava closed her eyes and made a mental note not to mention his family again. When she reopened them she noticed Jacob had headed inside the Veterans Centre and the men he'd been talking to heading her way "time to get cleaned up little lady, brother Jacob's orders" cleaned up? Wonderful she thought knowing it wasn't about to be a warm bubble bath waiting for her. When she hadn't moved quickly enough the cage door was wrenched open and a dirty hand grasped her hair making Ava his in pain as he dragged her kicking and screaming across the compound "quite ya flappin' girly, it ain't doin' ya no good" she didn't listen and despite her ankle throbbing she managed to get a lucky hit on the shin of the second man who cursed loudly before regaining his composure and back handing her for the trouble making her head swing back, almost seeing stars from the impact.
Ava was thrown unceremoniously onto the hard floor of a dimly lit concrete room, her hands and knees stinging from taking the brunt of the impact, this made her glance over her shoulder and glare at her two 'knights in shining armour' but they'd already left leaving her to her own devices for the time being. Her mind wondered what their version of 'getting cleaned up' was because judging from the state of them and the smell she had to endure on the way over they hadn't bathed in quite some time; hypocrites.
Ava noticed the medium sized drainage hole in the middle of the room and the large hose pipe hanging neatly on the wall near the door but her muddled mind didn't put two and two together and paid no attention to it, instead she focused on the door and wondered if they'd been stupid enough to leave it unlocked. It couldn't possibly be that easy to get off here, right? As if she'd be able to just open the door and go? Seeing as she was cold, exhausted and hungry Ava didn't think she had much of a choice and even with a bad ankle she could suffer through the pain long enough to get away from this place.
Without hesitation she slowly pushed herself up off the unforgiving floor and hobbled towards the door; her ankle protesting every step she made but she wasn't about to let that stop her when her freedom was so close that she could almost taste it.
A shaky hand reached out towards the handle, her fingers brushing it gently but to her horror it moved and the door began to open making her recoil from the fiery haired brute who had just stepped inside "goin' somewhere, pup?" he asked, his face showed no emotion and neither did his voice which didn't bode well for the brunette now sat on the floor - the momentum of trying to move away quick enough meant she fell ass backwards and her ass had no padding so no doubt that would be yet another bruise for her.
"Strip" came his clipped demand, his gaze fixed and hard on the woman in front of him. His arms were folded across his chest again and Ava wondered if that was a natural stance for him or if it was to stop him from possibly murdering her. Her brows furrowed in confusion at his demand "what?" "you heard me, I said strip" again, his tone was short and clipped but that didn't stop Ava who scoffed and point blank refused. There was no way she was going to strip for him "and if I don't?" she asked raising an eyebrow as if to challenge him which with all things considered was probably pretty stupid on her part but up until this point her life had been a series of stupid events so why not continue?
It was then she realised her mistake and her eyes widened in absolute fear as Jacob stormed across the room and it was in that moment she saw that rage within his eyes from earlier and prayed that whatever death was coming it'd be quick. All of a sudden she found herself pinned to the cold, harsh floor with one of his hands around her throat, his grip hard enough to leave bruises whilst his other hand pinned both her wrist above her - she had nowhere to go because her legs were useless at this point and even they weren't she doubted she'd have enough strength to fend him off long enough to reach the door. His face was now right above hers, his breath hot on her face as she struggled to for air "you'll learn why I'm the best at what I do and you'll either play nice and fall in line remembering that you're nothin' more than meat that's expendable" as if to emphasize his point his grip around her throat became that much tighter that she'd started to squirm beneath him, panic mode had kicked in as her vision became cloudy. She truly thought she was about to die and in the back of her mind she found she was okay with that because that would mean she would finally meet her father. In her current situation she was completely powerless to stop him from choking the life out of her and snapping her neck like a twig but apparently he wasn't feeling that murderous today and released his grip just enough for her to gasp for air " - or you'll be culled, tied up and used as live target practice for my Chosen, so what will it be, princess?"
Ava gasped and spluttered again fighting for air unable to give him a physical answer Ava weakly nodded as much as his grip allowed making a cruel smirk replace the scowl he'd been wearing previously" good girl, you know what to do" within an instant he'd relinquished his grip on both her wrists and her throat and had returned to his previous position. His gaze hardened and cold as watched her pathetically regain her composure.
With no other option but to do as she was told the young brunette cautiously and fearfully began to slip out of her deputy uniform as shaking hands fumbled with zips, buckles and buttons. His never wavering gaze didn't help her much either and not knowing if he would strangle her again also didn't help but soon enough she'd managed to discard her uniform leaving her in nothing but her bra and underwear; surely I can keep these on, right? This made Ava look over towards him and in return he merely nodded making tears spring to her eyes as she tentatively reached for the clasp of her bra at the back to unhook it before letting it drop to the floor. Ava gulped down the feeling of nausea before scrunching her face in pain as she winced - her throat would be sore for a good while and no doubt the bruises he left will last weeks before they fade.
Refusing to let him have the satisfaction of seeing her cry, Ava thumbed the elastic of her underwear before tugging them down over her hips, thighs and legs before discarding them with the rest of her clothes. Every part of her was open to him, she felt extremely vulnerable wished she was anywhere but here. Her earlier bravado had been stripped from her and now she naked and exposed in front of him. A face full of cold, harsh water soon broke her train of thought as the force of the pressure slammed her against the nearest wall making her cry out but this only resulted in more coughing and spluttering from the woman. Not that she could see but she could already tell that her skin had probably turned a nice shade of red if pain was anything to go by.
No matter how hard she tried to cover herself from the onslaught of water it just never made a difference, instead she gave up and pressed herself against the cold wall waiting for it to be over.
After what felt like an eternity the water stopped and she was left sore, drenched and very, very cold if her shivering was anything to go by. It's the type of cold that works its way into your bones and then it's icy tendrils wrap itself around your core and you genuinely wonder if you'll ever feel warmth again. "Get dressed" a flurry of definitely used clothes that consisted of ratty dark jeans and a fade flannel shirt hit her but Ava was that cold she would have worn a garbage bag to get warm at this point so she hurriedly threw them on making a note of just how big they were on her, not that she was about to complain especially if it meant being stripped again.
By now Jacob stood in front of what he could only assume was a drowned rat, her hair now forcefully untangled hung dripping onto the flannel she wore as he grasped her jaw he noticed how she flinched but said nothing, his grip just hard enough to have her attention and possibly leave bruises "when you behave yourself you get privileges like clothes but if you keep running that mouth of yours and misbehaving those privileges get taken away and you'll get punished. I'm sure my men out there would love to see the sight that I just saw and I mean, who knows what would happen if I'm not around" his not so subtle threat was quickly understood; the possibility of getting raped wasn't something she wanted "have I made myself clear?" "y - yes" Jacob quirked an eyebrow and gripped her jaw that little bit harder; more bruises to add to the collection she thought as she painfully cleared her throat "y - yes, sir" her voice was hoarse and it hurt to talk but her answer seemed to satisfy him because relinquished his grip and strode to the door, an arm keeping it open as he glanced at the sorry state of a deputy.
"Time for your trainin', let's go, pup" Ava meekly nodded; too tired and too fearful at this point to put up a fight. Her stomach filled with dread as she made her way towards the door.
It couldn't get any worse, right?
Little Sadie, part IV - The Mondo Bongo, prison and a man (Sam Drake x reader)
Description: The only man who left you broken and destroyed, the one who was your whole life fifteen years ago and the one who was constantly on your mind lately, is back. Samuel Drake has risen from the dead and you bet your ass that the night wasn’t the last time you saw him.
A/N: Ok, so we should be in the last part - I guess. Thank @missdictatorme for being such a supportive sweetie and @samdrakeftw for being an amazing part of this fandom.
Mood for this chapter: Well after a long reconsideration, it will be the song I named this chapter after - Joe Strummer’s Mondo Bongo. But to be honest, I ended up a playlist on Spotify named Sexy as folk and Winter Acoustics.
Warnings: Well go ahead and just see for yourself??? I guess? Jesus, I'm still terrible at this. Just kidding. Smut ahead! Yeah, finally.
And you hung up the phone, looking through the window to the distance and didn't believe to what have you done. You just seriously told your ex, someone, who completely forgave about you for fifteen years to come over? Did you just start to apologizing him in your eyes like he was some sick kind of a saint, or what was going on in your head?
Were you going crazy? Most probably you were. But Samuel was on his way to your apartment and since he knew where you lived, you had to be quick.
There wasn't a place for your old football t-shirt or a messy hair bun, which was kind of cute but messier than the thoughts inside your head. You just dressed up into a tight yoga top, leggings and a crop top which was like three sizes bigger than you. You still looked tired, you had black and deep circles under your eyes, your skin was unnaturally pale and you definitely lost some weight in last ten days because of being in work almost all the time.
Then you started to chaotically run and tried to clean up your whole flat. Just before you washed the last glass that you found next to your bed, a loud bell noise traveled through your apartment.
You gave yourself a moment to get mentally ready, yet you didn’t even breathe properly and opened up the door for him. And you stood there, just looking at each other.
He was smiling, slicking his heavy sweated hair the back of his head. To be exact, the sweat covered him up completely and yet he didn't look like a disgusting psycho and let's be real, it wasn't his bad that there was like a million degrees outside. It made him look like an even bigger man than he was before if it could. And thanks to that, you could see everything through that light t-shirt because it showed literally every muscle, that's how sweaty he was. Every single one you could name and imagine? Yup, you could see it.
When you've seen him before and you didn't hold your emotions back then, it wasn't as bad as you imagined it for now; just standing right in front him and looking him in the eyes. You could even feel yourself smiling at him. You wanted to punch yourself because you were acting like a little girl.
He was just a man, yet a very attractive man who reminded you of your old Sam, and you were just a woman. There was nothing to be nervous about.
“I'm glad you invited me to come over,” Samuel said, when you stepped outside from the doorframe, suggesting him to come over.
“Something to drink? Water, lemonade or tea? Whatever you want, Sam,” you left him wandering through your flat, looking at every single detail with a facial expression of a five-year-old boy.
“Some alcohol would do the trick, thank you.”
“Come on. It’s not rational to drink when it’s like a million degrees outside.” You answered loudly enough for him to hear it through the whole flat, boiling water and his playlist playing.
“You're acting like my mother.” Samuel laughed and appeared right next to you. You freaked out a little, putting a wrist over your thorax to make it easier for you to breathe.
“Somebody of our trio has to be the clever one,” you laughed quietly. “It's not my fault that I’m the smartest, motorcycle boy.” You looked at him with raised eyebrows, but your eyes were starting to shine playfully.
"This is the girl I missed," Samuel whispered and started to open cupboards in order to find glasses. You laughed quietly and step in front of him, getting on the top of your feet, opening the right one.
"We have a lot of things that we have to talk about." You reminded him in the tone of a businessman who came in for an appointment. He chuckled quietly and get two mugs and glasses down on your sector.
"A bossy tone means you are deadly serious," Samuel said from searching the cupboards for a tea.
"Hey, I would rather pour down you a drink than listen to this bickering." You opened your fridge and get him and an old bottle of rum and a bottle of Cola.
"Don't be mad," Samuel walked in front of you with slow, precise steps, swaying his sides in the rhythm of one of the songs. He took both bottles and he smoothed the top of your nose. "I don't really mind when you're bossy. Quite enjoying it actually, if I have to be honest." He joked and you gave him his well-deserved punch to the shoulder.
"Stop playing around and let's talk." You went to sit on a chair with a cup of coffee and a glass of cold water. He was almost immediately after you with a glass of rum with cola in his hand.
"Would you mind..?" Samuel sat down the table next to you and took out cigarettes from the pocket of his trousers. You stood up and went on to give him an ashtray. Then you opened a window and hot, unbreathable air just hugged you tightly. You were sweating immediately.
"Go on. I don't mind." You smiled at him a lowered the sound a bit because you wanted to hear every word, every syllable he's going to make.
"So start talking, Samuel. I'm curious and listening." You took a sip of your coffee and looked at him from under your lashes.
"Well, I’m going to talk then you should ask me some questions you want to know the answers for. I promise, that every answer will be the truth." Samuel licked lips in a quick, soft gesture almost as if it was a subconscious action and then he lighted up his cigarette.
It smelled exactly the way you remembered. It was a smell that you couldn't ignore, so poignant and disgusting on one side and seriously attractive on the other side. His gestures were still the same, he left his leg nervously jumping around, so his whole body was moving in a quick rhythm, he still could curl up his wrist in a hugely elegant way and he was still closing his eyes and enjoyed the cigarette like it's going to be his last.
He wasn't that sweaty now and maybe that made his hazel so eyes intensely not overlooking. He was looking like a fine man in his best years, reminding you of younger Harrison Ford, George Clooney or Patrick Swayze - not by his looks, but by the vibe he was sending all around him.
"So a basic one. Where the hell have you been? Why did you left me here all alone, brokenhearted and crying every single night waiting for you to come home?" You asked with a hint of sadness in your voice, feeling how it cracked with every letter you spoke.
And he started to tell you the story of meeting Raphael Adler, whom he called Rafe, and venturing out to Panama with him and Nathan. He told you about the prison guard named Vargas and the deal between all of them, with Sam being the one who knows everything about that thing they were after, Nathan was the muscle of the whole plan and that Rafe has paid everything. And when they were about to leave the prison, Rafe got a huge rage quit during the whole escape and killed that Vargas guy.
And when Samuel didn't manage to escape along with his brother and his ally, he got stuck in that prison for long thirteen years. He couldn't write to you nor his brother, it just felt like disappearing from the surface of the world.
And he was rotting there for a quite some time until Raphael found out that he's actually alive and managed to get Samuel out of the prison. Then it got pretty interesting and intense because he started to describe his little trip with Sully and Nate to Italy, Scotland and Madagascar which almost cost his, Nate's, Elena's and Sully's lives.
You were really mesmerized. It sounded like a plot of a movie, but as you were assured, he was speaking the truth.
"Look, Y/N." He stood up and started to take off his shirt, stopping near his ribs. "These are the wounds from Panama." He smiled at you and sat down, drinking his second drink.
"So I wanted to come home for Nathan, for Victor and mostly for you. I really wanted to pick up my phone and call you about what happened. But it was like a hellhole out there and word civilization was more like a curse word. I was dying there alive until Adler found me, and after we finished that thing in Madagascar, I rushed back here. And I couldn't find you for two months. Clearly, you changed the address and phone number, so I asked Nathan. And that's how the thing ten days ago happened." He laughed sadly, lighten up another cigarette and drank almost half of his glass in one try. "I now know that I should call you first, just say that I'm alive and here and give you the time to arrange the thing inside your head, but I was too eager to see you." Samuel smiled and it was like a hormonal slap right into your face. He still had his firm, small lips and oh boy, you started to remember how those lips tasted like. He definitely looked older and more tired than before, he had a much longer forehead and deeper wrinkles, but that were the details that helped him aged like surely fine wine.
But besides that, he was still smiling like that young, eighteen-year-old boy. His eyes were still a little bit closed because of those lips curling up. He was also a lot bigger than you remembered; not that he got taller, but definitely he got more muscular in the meantime he was in prison. And then, of course, there was his new tattoo. You always knew that Samuel was a rebel at all costs, but you couldn't personally decide if you like that change or not.
"Moving on," you sat back, trying to get the picture of his half-naked body out of your head. "Who you even are now?"
"I'm still the Sam that you used to know. That incompetent idiot without sense for discretion. The motorcycle boy. I haven't matured much since the day you saw me for the last time, darling. Just got a bit tougher and not so open about myself. That's all." Samuel smiled at you and you couldn't keep your eyes on your mug.
He told you so many things about his past and yet it everything added up to the last detail. Somehow you felt that he's not messing with you, maybe it was the calm and slow tone of his voice, maybe it was that expression in his eyes, you didn't know the reason why you felt so calm and cheered up by him being him so close next to you. You missed him a lot since he left you carried a deep black hole in your thorax near your heart. And no one could heal the tear in you, even though many men tried. No one was like him and no one knew the thing he knew.
And now you felt how that tear disappearing just like that. It was almost like coming home, feeling complete and alive.
“I’m glad you’re back. I really am.” You whispered and for a moment, you both shut up, listening to the playing song. After a minute or two, he jumped out of the chair, stood up and looked at you.
“Its a really stupid idea, but haven't you kept my old guitar, just in case I'm coming back?” He looked at you and finally looked like a human being and not a chicken which is being grilled.
“You are so extremely lucky, Sam. It’s still here.” You got up and went into your bedroom. His old acoustic guitar was hidden next to your cabinet. You kept the guitar in its old leather case which Sam bought one day on a flea market and since that day, his guitar wasn't anywhere else.
You also took it to your friend, a musician, who had changed the strums, because you wanted to give the guitar to one of your friend's child. But thanks God you didn't do that.
“Here it is,” you gave it to him. It was the only thing you kept from his belongings. You gave the rest to Nathan, to a nearby charity or simply threw out of your flat. But the guitar was something different. You fell in love with her, because it was a part of Samuel. The first year when he was gone, you just sat on the of the rooftop where Sam used to took you on hot summer nights, smoothing the strums with your fingers because you couldn't play a single chord.  But you sat there with your eyes closed and with a weak smile you whispered the lyrics of songs he used to sang on that rooftop. You still hoped he’ll come back to you. But he didn't.
Not much longer after that, you have just hidden the guitar in your flat like a reminder of him.
“You can still play?” You asked concerned, sitting back on the chair. You watched Samuel’s smile widened much more when opened the clinches and took his loved guitar out of the case. He hugged the body of his instrument by his big hands and witch the grace of queens, his left arm started to play chords. He wasn't even looking at his hands, he had his eyes closed and he was really quietly humming to the song.
You didn't know that one, you just saw moving his finger from the seventh to tenth fret, sometimes he wandered to the fifth one. You put your face in your hands, watching him quietly with a firm smile. The music from his playlist was muted and the only sound traveling by the stuffy air were the high notes played by the strums.
“Yeah, almost forgot it back in there,” Samuel said all of the sudden, waking you up from the trance. “But the guys out there were huge music lovers. They taught me again to play and they even taught me new serenades and songs to play. I had thirteen years to memorize every last one of them and my only wish was to play them for you.” He smiled firmly and you felt, how are your cheeks getting hotter.
“Don't take this personally, Sam,” you breathed out. “I'm really glad that you’re back and somewhere near, I really am. But it's not the best idea to mix my life with yours and the other way around. But I would love to be your friend.” You smiled him, watching his eyes twitched and looking at his lips smiling even more firmly.
“I get it. I would never do anything you're not feeling like.” He smiled and then he started singing. It was slow, full of emotions and passions, as you could say. Suddenly, you recognize that music from one of the older spy movies.
“I know that song!” You pointed at him and smiled. You know that tune, but not the words, so you started humming as he did before. His fingers moved along the frets slowly, pushing the strums to them when he should. There wasn't no hurried moves or a bad fingering, not once.
“Where do you know it from?” He looked at you meanwhile he played the break without looking back to the guitar.
“It’s one old spy movie, Angelina Jolie played in this movie before Tomb Raider.” You stated, not even thinking that he wouldn't know her. She was a worldwide famous actress.
“Before who played where?” He asked amused. That hit you hard. He really had to be without connection to civilization for a fair amount of time. Just there you noticed, that he’s prolonging the break because he didn't feel like singing or moving the song forward.
“Yeah, guess you're not only motorcycle boy or an idiot without the sense for discretion,” you stood up and poured yourself another glass of water. It was almost one p.m. Why did the time flew so fast with him? “You're a cultural primitive now.” You laughed and Samuel opened his mouth, then smiling and leaving your comment without a word.
“But we can manage that. I’ll help you with the last technical achievements and after that, you will be like a normal human being living in the 21st century. Even Sully knows Angelina Jolie!” You smiled at him and he finally broke the long break and started to sing another part of the song.
“What will be your repayment?” Samuel put the guitar away, curled his body until he was sitting directly facing you and smiled when he saw your opened mouth. The two of you could play this game.
“Well, it'll be some physical work for sure,” you heeled over to him with a smile on your lips. His smile started to fade slowly and his breathing was louder at that moment. “You’ll be like really sweaty after that.” Your fingers put some of your hair behind your ear and your eyes widened.
“I'm listening, my love.” He stated with the breath stuck in his throat.
“I need to help with some pretty heavy boxes to the top of my cabinet. You up to that?” You whispered. Well, Samuel was expecting something different coming out of your sweet lips, but this really amused him. He laughed loudly and you joined him in that, being all red and unintentionally cute.
“And that's all, you one bossy lady?” He got up, waiting for you to show him where to start. You got up next to him and led him to your bedroom.
“Yeah, I guess I don't really need anything else right now,” you smiled at him and showed him the mountain of boxes you had next to your bed. His eyes widened.
You like killed somebody, or where did you get like... Twenty boxes of something?” Samuel asked in a quiet but playful voice. His face was acting like he was shocked and scared.
“It’s clothes for a charity, which is like seven months away. And I haven't got the time to move them into the cabinet. Are you up or not?” You raised your eyebrows, putting your palms on your sides.
“Well, I guess I don't want to be a cultural primitive anymore.” Samuel breathed out loud a caressed his own face with his palm. “Do I have another option?” He asked himself and went to lift the first one of the boxes.
It was a really fun afternoon, slowly turning into the evening. You spent like four hour moving the boxes to the cabinet, and you had to figure out how to Tetris them in, because there was a serious load of them. Sam got his breaks during that, smoking in front of the cabinet and watching it like it should move any time soon. Well, he was expecting it to break up, but that huge cabinet just kept standing.
He was telling you a lot of jokes, some of his hilarious prison stories and you found your satisfaction in watching him standing in front the opened cabinet, sweated at places where he should be and messing his hair with fingers. He looked like an antique statue with these ridiculously perceptible muscles.
If prison left him something, it had to be the ability to take care of himself and a body of a god. And at one moment, when you laid on your bed and watched how he smokes when the sun was slowly getting low, you found yourself wondering how that body feels like under the touch of your fingers.
You left those fantasies in a moment he turned to face you with a wide smile on his lip.
“Well, boss, I think it's done. It was tough work, but your boxes are in your cabinet, as you asked.” He sat next to you and you smiled, lazily laid down on your bed.
“Good job, my slave.” You joked and Samuel laughed.
“I guess it’s time to be on my way. I will call you and we will discuss when we see each other for a class of cultural tutoring.” He stood up and some feeling hit you in the spot next to your heart. Why does he have to go? Why can't he stay a little longer?
“Actually, I wouldn't mind some playing on guitar if you’re not in a hurry.” You sat quickly with the sheets in your palms. You held them tightly. Samuel, who stood in the doorframe, slowly turned around with a playful flame in his eyes.
“I would love to play something for you, Y/N,” he whispered and disappeared on a moment. When he came back, he was holding his guitar and slowly sitting down on your bed. “What would like to hear?” He asked, playing with the strings and slowly pulling them out, making them do a high-noted sound.
“That song you played before was really nice. Can I hear it again?” You asked, lying a bit closer, curling up to the leg which was supporting the guitar.
“I will play it every time you ask, angel.” He whispered and started to do make the guitar sound. It was angelic - his deep, husky voice singing such wispy words like a prayer, and you loved that. You loved that except for one thing. Just an itsy-bitsy tiny thing.
You forget how big turn on his singing voice was. You felt pretty badly. You asked him to play for you like two minutes ago and it would be pretty weird asking him to stop. So you let him play that song, whispering those words as tenderly as how he would whisper them to your ear, and you were starting to breathe loudly.
“Hey, boss?” He stopped all of a sudden, putting the guitar away and caressing your hair slowly. “You okay?”
You looked at him. The hair of the Litlle Mermaid was nothing against your cheeks. You were on fire, looking at him from the bottom and lying on your back. It was so fucking hard not to do anything too unpremeditated.
“I guess so.” You whispered and watched him, as he lowered himself on his elbow, watching you with those hungry eyes.
“You guess you're alright or you know that? Come on, Y/N, stop playing around. We waited for this for fifteen years, why should we keep running when we're both here now?”  He asked, but didn't waited for you to give him a proper answer. He just did take your face in his hands and kissed you on the lips; first time gently as if he was waiting for a permit, then he started to be more eager. Not like he held you so tight it hurt, no way. His body just started to banging into yours more than before.
You found yourself amazed, sitting on him and not knowing what the fuck are you doing. Where was your I would love to be your friend from before? Yeah, sure, you want to be his friend, but with benefits, as it seemed. You practically confirmed him that you lied about being friends with him, but the lust in you was just too strong.
“What are we doing?” You said from tearing that insanely tight t-shirt down. It smelled like a bunch of cigarettes and sweat of a man. It smelled like heaven. Both of you stopped for a second, looking at each other, just your loud breathing could be heard in the room.
youtube
Yeah, good question. What the hell were you doing? You said yourself like two hours ago, that you want to be his friend for now and nothing more. Where did this come from? You straddling his lap with your hair being a mess, hot rosy cheeks, and a total shut down brain from being horny? Maybe it was his fingers on the guitar or him ordering that help with the heavy boxes and then, how he sweated even more than before? But that husky voice was a total panties destroyer.
You didn't know - and he didn't either.
You had to laugh quietly when you recalled the nickname you and Nate gave him when attended to go to university with the help of Sully and your parents. Mister Samuel “I will charm your panties off” Morgan-Drake. That's how you both called him.
“I don't know, baby,” Samuel answered quickly and pulled that yoga top of your body. You were so much beautiful than he remembered. It was like the age gave you more and more beautiful each year. And having your breasts directly in front of his eyes was more than he ever needed. “But don't let me stop.”
“I would die if you stop, Sammy.” You swore under your breath, unable to look away from his face. You felt like he was about to cry, when his fingers slowly traveled down on your fair shoulders, slowly caressing every inch of your skin. It was like a setting on fire, those touches were so light and warm that you were still afraid that you're dreaming and he still isn't there after all.
“Is there anything wrong, Sam?” You lowered yourself when he hugged your back and slowly hid his face between your breasts as if he was hiding before the whole world. You felt him kissing the little piece of your skin between your breasts and your neck, but you closed your eyes and held him quietly.
“No. But now is everything how it should be from the start.” Samuel whispered and raised his face, so his forehead was gently leaning back to yours. You were pressed one on each other, skin on skin and you could feel his heart beating heavily in his chest. Well, your heartbeat was as rough as his. “I should be here the whole fifteen years for you, by your side and helping you to carry those boxes to your cabinet every year.” He joked and you smiled, breathing hot air into his face. Your eyes were firmly closed, why he was watching every curl of your hair and a happy smile on your lips. “I just know that I'm finally where I should have the whole time. Inside arms of the woman, who was the only one occupying my head all that time, you know, princess?” Samuel kissed you again, slowly with a smile.
You know what he was saying although his words may seem to be huge nonsense. He told you that he was home, that the huge tear in his thorax was now cured just like yours. And God, you know what peace he felt in that exact moment because you felt the same relief.
“Then kiss me before I'll change my mind, big guy.” You whispered back with your eyes closed firmly. You didn't have to ask twice, he fulfilled your wish as if it was his own. You held each other tight, you were the safe harbors to each other, a place where your boats were destined to dock in.
You became one soul separated into two bodies almost sixteen years ago and now it felt like coming together, the world started to make sense at once. He was not a man and with a woman in his arms, you weren't even two human beings hugging each other; you were just the lost and found souls.
You didn't even notice yourself making a move, but when you opened up your eyes again, you lied on your back and he was laying on his elbow, watching you without a world by his tender eyes. Samuel looked like a masterpiece drawn by Michelangelo and you know, he should be exposed at the museum. The sun was drawing circles on his body, highlighting some of his contours and making him look so young, so innocent and fascinated. He looked exactly like the man who left. You smiled and caressed his hair with a sentimental smile, making him look rebellious.
“What?” Samuel stopped whatever he was doing and just bounced on his elbows with an amused look on his face.
“Nothing,” you shook your head and blinked twice. “I just missed you.” You hold up your arms around his neck and letting your legs hug his sides by a tight hug.
“I'm glad you did.” Samuel smiled and took the advantage of you raising that pretty little ass of yours to his flanks. Meanwhile kissing you, he started to rock himself against your lap. You got his point and started to pull your pants off.
“Did. You. Missed. Me?” You got out of yourself between the passionate kisses, mourning into his lips. Then Samuel almost made you explode with the huskiest, erotic laugh in the whole world. “I did, my love, and you know that I did.”
“You might need to show me how much you did miss me in that prison.” You let your legs out of his sides and scooped a little to get those stupid leggings down.
“How much time do we have?” Samuel looked at your naked body with a pleased look on his face. You weren't the only one burning with desire and lust, he felt his body trembling with the overtook of the feelings inside him. He wanted to have your body right in the exact moment, he wanted to be all over you like a river, caressing every inch of the skin which tasted like salt and sun.
“I have a shift starting at five a.m.” You whispered and the smile on his face widened.
“That's enough time to show you three to four times. Maybe five, what do you say, my dove?” He started to climb down the bed with spit coming themselves to his mouth after seeing your legs so naughty opened apart, just welcoming him in that sweet valley of yours. You felt his hands everywhere around your thighs and his body moving down under the bed, kneeling on his knees. You closed your eyes, letting your hands lay down on your belly.
“Think that five seems,” you wanted to joke, but a scream of pleasure just came of your lips. Your back arched themselves, his tongue making wonders on the most sensitive piece of your body let your mouth wide open and your lungs gasping for some air. Yeah, it was some time since you let somebody touch you and it was a while since you met someone who understood what you wanted, but this was a whole new level of skills. Well, not new, but you didn't feel that for so long time, you actually forgot how that tongue of his felt between your legs. “Alright...”
You let him do the wonders with your pussy, letting him suck on that sweet little spot meanwhile his fingers send chills down your spine and showing you the edge of paradise. Whatever move he made, it felt just so fucking right. There was no need for words when you made those high-pitched erotic noises, music for his ears, yet you couldn't stop yourself from talking. You haven't say much, just thing like ”That's a way to go, Sammy,”, “That makes me feel so fucking good” and when he pushed you to the top but didn't let fall down, you mumbled “You’ll kill me if you stop, Samuel.”. You begged him to continue by moving your hips a little, but he didn't react to that.
Instead, he just traveled to one of your nipples with his hand, squeezing it firmly, still working with fingers inside you and slowly blowing that ice cold breath directly to your weak spot.
“What’s... The... Deal?” You panted heavily, unable to concentrate on your own words and stumbling on them, while he continued to blow.
“There isn't any sort of deal, love. I just want to hear as much of these beautiful noises as you can make.” Samuel answered with amusement and then he pushed you over the top with that face worth riding your orgasms against, actually making you scream his name out loud when you lost yourself in the waves of orgasm. It was a pretty good one - not the best you had, but still a really good one. He stayed until the last contraction of your pussy with his lips sucked to that spot and with his hand holding to your breast.
“Everything ok up there?” He asked when you have shut up for a minute or longer, just breathing out that beautiful experience. You chuckled, looking down to him and smoothing his jaw tenderly covered in a short stubble.
“Maybe I need another proof, dear mister Morgan.” You whispered and his eyes widened of pure joy meanwhile his palms started to take off his jeans. You were a small, irresistibly lovely demon in angles body worth the waiting in prison, definitely worth the slaps and arguments. Your look gave him more joy than any amount of money in this world. “I will gladly show you more than one proof, dear miss Y/N L/N.” He answered in a pure raspy voice.
Making you feel so good had left marks on him too. His lips were slightly swollen, his cheeks were as rosy as yours and his eyes shine like the distant stars. Both of you were equally covered in each other’s sweat and it just felt so goddamn great.
It wasn’t a tender lovemaking session as you would expect. He got into his element and practically tried to destroy your bed, broke it into two pieces with the rough motion of your bodies. He was trying to kiss you, hold his forearm against yours, but it was hard when you constantly bent your head backward with eyes closed and saying those curse word like holly praise. You only knew that your hands were tightly entwined and that your knees were high on his waist, holding him close firmly.
It was a rough and animally raw act of showing you everything he kept inside of him and what he couldn't say out loud in words. Yet, or rather because of it, it was so damn rough, it felt perfect. You were just like two energies meeting and bumping into one another with a beautifully brutal force, changing each other forever.
When it was over, when the small infinity between you disappeared, both of you lied entwined together like two pieces of rope, without a single move. You just breathed and felt how Samuel kissed that small place under your jaw that he fell in love with a long time ago. You didn't want it to end, you were too afraid to let him go and lose him again. You closed your eyes, hugging him tightly and trying to calm yourself down.
“What are you thinking about?” He asked, nuzzling his face into your neck with a satisfied expression.
“That I’ll not survive if you leave me again.” You answered, closing your eyes and cuddling more into his warm body.
“You wish,” Samuel chuckled, caressing your hip slowly. “You will speak differently after a month or two.”
“Maybe you don’t have to rush?” You smiled, completely changing the subject. He looked surprised, tilting his head over to you.
“What?”
“Next time you'll come to see me, bring yourself a toothbrush and some clothes. We’ll find you a place in my cabinet.” You giggled, letting his lips carefully caressing your face with soft kisses.
“Does it mean I have to rearrange those boxes with those dead bodies?” He looked at your cabinet as if it was his worst enemy.
“I guess so...” You laughed, when he crushed his head into the pillow, leaving noises of pure suffering and a quiet “Oh God, please no.”
Hello! I just read your post and I'm so sorry! I can't think of anything for you to draw, but do you mind maybe writing me a minific like the star wars ones you've been making? I just donated some cash for your ko-fi account (sorry for not being able to donate more than that! ;-;) and I wanted you to write me something with "that’s it, that’s it. get it all out. shh" and Codex? Thank you, and I hope everything gets better soon!
(Hey there! Thank you! I haven’t even thought of comissioning fanfics, but I’m glad you did! :D I hope you like it, I made this with all my heart despite being new to the ship. More after the cut.)
When they came back to Coruscantfrom Umbara, both Rex’s and Cody’s men were much quieter than usual. It had hitthem hard, the whole deal. Being betrayed by their general, by a jedi, and bytheir own obedience to the hierarchy. None of them was to blame, that was whatRex would think most of the time, but at the same time, they were all to blame,and that particular thought would hit him late at night while he struggled toclose his eyes and go to sleep.
Cody didn’t seem to be muchaffected. He kept doing his job, taking care of his duties and answering togeneral Kenobi’s calls to new missions. Thisis how it was, Rex had thought, therewas no time to sit and wallow in guilt. There was a job to be done, a war to bewon, orders to follow. Move on, you kriffing sod, even Fives seems to be backto his old self. It was a lie and he knew it, but it had to be enough.
One particular night, Rex woke up tothe sound of low voices whispering in the dorms. He was about to groan anannoyed “shuddup”, for this had been one of his few successful attempts atsleeping when he recognized Jesse’s voice.
“C’mon, Kix, snap out of it.”
Then he heard Kix’s out-of-breathmurmuring in the pitch-black room.
“All that blood… Was like I was backthere again… Trying to fix what was left of him… Trying to stop the bleeding…”
“C’mon, man, it was a nightmare… Goback to sleep, you’ll wake up the captain.”
Rex got up silently, climbing down his top bunkbed. As he got his feet on the ground, he heard Five’s voice in the dark, fromthe lower bed.
“Don’t go too hard on Kix, sir. I’m sure he didn’t mean to wake you up.”
Rex frowned. So Fives wasn’tsleeping either.
“I won’t. Just need some fresh air.Go to sleep, soldier, we have assignments in the early morning.”
“Yessir.”, Fives had answered in atired voice, and only he could make the phrase sound like a fuck off so effortlessly.
Rex waked softly between the bunkbeds, listening to the sounds he knew so well and noticing the absence of somehe knew he’d never hear again. Hardcase’s snoring was amiss, as well as Dogma’ssoft sleep-talking. Rex had had a request placed for Dogma’s release fromCoruscant’s custody, and general Skywalker’s personal friend, senator Amidalahad promised to aid in his trial. Despite the whole thing looking like treason,Dogma had killed an enemy, not a jedi general. That… that sleemo, Krell, he wasa separatist or a Sith, or whatever the kriff the Jedi would address theirdark counterparts. Dogma merely had the guts to do what Rex couldn’t, and Rex was proud of him in the same measure that he was ashamed of himself.
By the time Rex snapped out of hisconjectures, he noticed that his legs had carried him to the 212th quarters, more precisely totheir break room, where he’d occasionally meet up with Cody and even Bly – theyall agreed that the only decent coffee in the whole Coruscant base was the212th, and Bly himself suspected that maybe general Kenobi was the one behind the mysterious brew. Apparently, the jedi were fond of brewing hot drinks and had the whole patienceit demanded. General Skywalker had made coffee for Rex once. Only once. Tookhim a month to get the taste off his mouth, so strong it was. Hardcase was almost vibrating in the same spot after he drank the thing.
The break room is as it should beat… Rex checks his wrist screen. Kriff, almost three in the morning. No wonderall the lights are out, except… he squinted at the pale blue light coming fromthe corner table, which source was a holo-vid being watched by a clone dressedin the plain black undergarments they would wear under their armors, the sameones Rex was wearing. He recognized his scar.
“Cody?”
Cody clamped his hand over theholo-projector on the table, muffling the voice that came out of it and clearing his throat.
“Rex?”
Rex flicked just one of the lightswitches, enough to turn only two light panels and bathe Cody in the softyellow light. He walked inside.
“Still up?”
Cody still had his hand on the tableblocking the holo-projector.
“Yeah. Looks like you are too.”
“Yeah.” Rex nodded at theholo-projector “Late night assignment?”
Cody looked at his own hand beforepressing it against the object, turning it off.
“Something like that.” he pulled hishand away and looked at the thing as if it was a bomb about to go off “And whatbrings you to the 212th building? Did general Skywalker brew your coffeeagain?”
Rex let a soft laugh out of hisnose.
“I wish bad coffee was the thing keeping me up.”
Cody nodded grimly.
“Me too.”
Rex walked to Cody, sitting besidehim instead of in front of him across the table. Sometimes you just don’t wantanybody looking at your face while you were wrestling your demons, but having awarm shoulder against your own could help. Rex could do that. Sometimes he feltlike he could do anything for Cody, and that very thought scared the kriff outof him most of the time.
Cody, however supported his elbowson the table and cradled his head in his hands, letting out a sigh. Rex kepthis eyes straight ahead in order to allow him some space and not make thingsawkward.
“You okay, Cody?”
“Fine.” Cody groaned “Perfect. Justkriffin’ peachy.”
Rex didn’t say anything. They allshared the same snarky sarcasm, some of them more then others. Kamino knows howmuch Dogma likes his witty remarks. Sometimes Rex thinks about how it would probably be better for them ifthey had someone to talk to. The senators had their advisors, the jedi hadtheir masters, their council. But the clones had no one to talk to. No one toask for advice or guidance in dark times like this one. They had to get up andmake it on their own. Everyone wanted advice from commanders like Cody, Bly,Fox, Wolffe or even Rex himself, and they were happy to provide guidance totheir men, from the highest ARCs to the lowest shinies. But nobody would giveadvice to Rex and the others. They were expected to just know everything. Rexglanced at Cody without turning his head to him. Well, maybe if they could helpone another…
“What happened? Can I help?”
“No.” Cody answered sharply
“Maybe General Kenobi could…”
“There’s nothing the general can doabout this.”
“Well, there must be something…”
“Will you shut the hell up already?”
Cody had lifted his face up again,closing his hands in fists. Rex try to act unimpressed, despite his knowledgeof how difficult it was to get on Cody’s bad side, so his short temper at thismoment was odd at best. He lowered his voice.
“Look, I know you must be feelingbad over what happened in Umbara.”
Cody slammed his fists on the table,not too hard to give out anger, but a calculated nuisance.
“I told you I’m okay.”
“As okay as I am.” Rex replied,finally turning to face him “Talk to me, Cody, tell me what’s going on.”
Cody turned to look at Rex, baringhis gritted teeth and snarling.
“That kriffin seppie, that… that…” it waslike Cody couldn’t find a cursing bad enough to describe who Rex already knewhe referred to “Krell. What he did. I can’t understand it.”
Rex looked deep into Cody’s browneyes that were filled with anger and sighed.
“I can’t either. I don’t think weever will.”
Cody half-shook his head, his facetwisting in revulsion.
“We use to joke about how many of ourmen would survive if we ever were to have them fight against each other.”
Rex closed his eyes and it was as ifhe had been punched in the gut.
“Cody…”
“We used to joke about it, Rex.”
Therewas a raw horror in Cody’s voice that made Rex feel like cradling the commander in his arms, but he tried to keep his tone cool and even.
“We never meant it. Huh?” Rex saidas he placed his arm on the table “We never did. It was a joke. It’s not ourfault.”
Cody grabbed Rex’s arm in a tightgrip, speaking between clenched teeth:
“Then whose fault it was?! We ledour men there, Rex. We let it happen. I… I got Krell’s orders for shooting tokill at men with the 501st armor and I just sent my men out there to blasttheir brothers dead. I… I shot some of my brothers dead. If you hadn’t found it out… It could’ve been you or me.”
Rex didn’t particularly like todwell in any thoughts regarding how close they’ve gotten to killing each otherin Umbara. He didn’t know how Cody would feel about killing him, but Rexthought that if he were to find Cody dead by his blaster fire, he’d shoothimself dead right then and there.
“Cody…”
“And then” Cody let go of Rex’s arm,reaching for the holo-projector “then I get this…!”
He clicked the thing and a blue-huedprojection of Cham Syndulla showed up in front of them. It was clearly arecording, playing on loop. The general’s voice said:
“…to thank you for your continuoussupport to the people of Ryloth. As a parting question, I must ask where is theclone trooper known as ‘Waxer’. A little girl to whom your troops provided aid during yourfirst time in Ryloth misses him terribly, and her parents yould like to see himagain too. This should be all, commander. We will speak again soon.”
The projection began repeatingitself again and Cody clicked it off. His hand was shaking on top of the table.
“My men” he said, and his breathingwas hitched “said that you witnessed his death. That you were there with him.”
“Cody…”
“How was it?”
“His death? How do you think? Likeany other kriffing casualty, quick and horrible and meaningless.”
Cody still held Rex by his arm sotight Rex thought it would bruise but he couldn’t care less about it.He reached for Cody with his free hand, grabbing his other arm as Cody now wore an anguished expression on his features.
“Meaningless. That’s what we are forthem, we don’t mean anything, we’re pawns, war fodders, disposable tools, and I’m supposed to puta smile on my face and tell my shinies to march forward to their deaths,fifteen year olds, I think Kamino is pulling them outta their tubes earlier andearlier each day.” Cody’s eyes were welling up with tears and he lowered his face “Andnow I have to tell a kid that the trooper she used to call ‘brother’ is dead, killed by hisown brothers’ blaster fire, and I’m sick of losing men, sick of training them andwatching them grow and make me proud to then be cut in half by some maniac’slightsaber or something like that, I’ve had enough, Rex, when is this nightmaregonna be over…!”
Rex pulled Cody into his arms, andCody wrestled him for a few instants before giving in and hugging the captaintight and sniffling. For a man big as he was, Cody now felt small like a young recruit.
“That’s it, that’s it. get it allout. Shh.” Rex cooed, caressing the back of Cody’s head. Cody’s shoulders werejumping very softly in small sobs, and it made Rex want to cry. It was so weirdseeing Cody allowing himself to have emotions, the mighty commander of the 212th that would never lose his temper on anything. “I’m here for you. I’ll alwaysbe here for you. I love you, Cody.”
Cody’s voice was muffled againstRex’s shoulder.
“I love you too. I’m so sorry.”
“I’m sorry too.”
Cody pulled away from Rex justenough to look at him and there, so up close to him, red-eyed and exhausted,with his eyelashes wet with tears and the arabesque scar Cody had never seemedso beautiful to Rex. Before he could understand what he was doing, Rex closedhis eyes and pulled Cody into a kiss. Cody had gone rigid for a moment to thenwrap his hands around the back of Rex’s neck, smashing his lips harder againstthe captain’s. It felt like the world was spinning around for Rex, and he onlypulled back when he was positively breathless. While still trying to catch hisbreath, he pressed his forehead to Cody’s. The commander of the 212th still hadhis eyes closed, and Rex whispered softly:
“You don’t have to endure this onyour own. We don’t have to.” He ran a thumb over Cody’s cheek “I’ll be here foryou, Cody. That’s all I want, if that’s okay with you.”
Cody opened his eyes, lifting themup and looking at Rex through his dark eyelashes.
“Yeah…” he muttered to then swallowhard “That’s okay with me.”
“We’ll be okay. We’ll find our wayout of all of this.”
Cody nodded and, for a moment right then and there in that dimly-lit room, that almost sounded true.
