When my dad and his best friend were fourteen years old , they built a wooden sailboat . My grandfather helped them lay the planks . My grandmother sewed the sails . The boat was a sloop named Jezebel . Everyone helped take the boat to the beach . The boys got on the boat and raised the sails . Everyone gave the boat a push out to sea . There was a nice wind blowing . Everyone cheered and waved until the boat was out of sight . The boys sailed the boat from New York to Maine and back again . That was the first of many happy sailing days for my dad and his friend .
