01: meh I think. Getting better I suppose.
02: My friend, we say it when ending calls
03: far too much. Sometimes it hits me like a bullet to the chest. Feels like the metal ball in my brain pinballs into a bumper that gives negative points.
04: no definitely not <- she lied
05: single and looking for friends which may turn into queerplatonic relations. Not that I'm crossing my fingers.
06: slowly and calmly enough to analyze the way it feels to die, but not too peacefully that it's otherwise uninteresting.
07: Zaxby's chicken strips
08: tried a few. Not my thing. Except tennis, I liked that one. Not sure if snowboarding counts but I like that too.
09: Yes I do it sucks.
10: never had one, unless wrestling counts
11: I like many people. I love them too. I suppose I have a crush on people that I relate too, especially if I find them interesting. I want to know every part of them intimately. To drink it all in.
12: yes
13: I don't think so, I try not to. I don't think it's very useful for solving my or the world's problems, and it makes me feel pretty miserable in the process.
14: probably somewhat, I'm pretty lonely most of the time so yeah almost always. I work and live better when I'm with someone I like. Whether talking or just present in the same "space".
15: 2 family dogs, one day I'll move out and get a cat probably. Cats are great.
16: chill, minus the usual slight heartburn. Just got our of the shower and am lying in bed, getting messages from a new friend, living well.
17: no, very out of left field question
18: not really. I find them interesting though. They either look like insects or weirdly mammalian despite being neither. Weird that scorpions are more closely related.
19: nah there's nothing for me back there.
20: god I wish
21: talk to a friend and life planning
22: no, I mean I'm good with them and it's very fulfilling I just find it stressful. Right now I have so much I want to do I can't see myself adopting and settling down but maybe idk.
23: 2 for earrings
24: Math and English I suppose. Programming too if college counts
25: Maybe. Not at the moment. In recent past, it was fun to hang out at the lgbtq center in college. Sucks that I'm stuck at home now.
26: more social interaction. I may be anxious about how I reply or generally talk through textual messaging, but it makes me feel all comfy inside :3 also sleep because it is 2:36am for me rn.
27: idk
28: no
29: never had one
30: eye strain and heart burn and social anxiety.
31: I think so. I don't think it's for me to say, I try to love myself at least, though it's really hard.
32: magenta, or some other combo of purple and red. Hence the Melantha pfp. Also she's autistic.
33: yes, very much so
34: can't remember. The last one I remember was very sexual which is unusual for me.
35: cried on a call with a friend of mine I think. Just scared of the state the world's in.
36: I don't know, I don't know if I've had to
37: depends on the person I guess. Sometimes you can't do either. Just gotta learn to live with what happened.
38: So far absolutely not. But in the past 4 days I've had a lot of fun being alive. It is fun to make new friends and connect with people and have fun.
39: excluding my parents it hasn't happened
40: yes
51: chicken alphredo and chicken cordon bleu
52: I don't believe in fate, but I do believe in causality, to an extent.
53: brush my teeth I think. Maybe watch a youtube video or masterbate, though I usually do the latter as I'm falling asleep so I'm not sure if it counts.
54: I'm sure you could invent some crazy scenario where it is, but in general I think betraying your partner's trust is just about the worst thing you can do in a relationship.
55: I try not to be.
56: 0
57: when I am vulnerable and comfortable, I am filled to bursting with love for the world and everything in it. So if "true" means "pure unfiltered" then maybe yeah. Me x The Universe. Me x All My Friends.
58: bright but not too bright, grey skies, no visavle sun, chill in the air. Can move around without sweating buckets.
59: YYYYYYYEEEEEEEEESSSSSSS
60: very much so someday. Already planning it out.
61: never had it happen to me though it seems pretty boring standard. Call me your owner, handler, mad scientist, something interesting.
62: a loving community and the ability to freely create art
63: yeah obviously
64: yeah I'm too old for that it's weird
65: what are we role-playing now? I don't know, depends on the context. (Treating "sex" as "gender" for these questions btw.)
66: no, I don't. I wouldn't call any of my friends men.
67: My father but I honestly wonder if he's not a little trans
68: like a really deep conversation? Uhh definitely @thatweirdyellowrat. Haven't felt that much mental clarity after a conversation in a long time. I would not be as happy or geared to make new friends if not for that.
69: Fuck no.
70: I think so yeah, more than one actually. Which is saying something because I value my life a lot.
70 horrible questions ... Fuck it
01: Do you have a good relationship with your parents? 02: Who did you last say “I love you” to? 03: Do you regret anything? 04: Are you insecure? 05: What is your relationship status? 06: How do you want to die? 07: What did you last eat? 08: Played any sports? 09: Do you bite your nails? 10: When was your last physical fight? 11: Do you like someone? 12: Have you ever stayed up 48 hours? 13: Do you hate anyone at the moment? 14: Do you miss someone? 15: Have any pets? 16: How exactly are you feeling at the moment? 17: Ever made out in the bathroom? 18: Are you scared of spiders? 19: Would you go back in time if you were given the chance? 20: Where was the last place you snogged someone? 21: What are your plans for this weekend? 22: Do you want to have kids? How many? 23: Do you have piercings? How many? 24: What is/are/were your best subject(s)? 25: Do you miss anyone from your past? 26: What are you craving right now? 27: Have you ever broken someone’s heart? 28: Have you ever been cheated on? 29: Have you made a boyfriend/girlfriend cry? 30: What’s irritating you right now? 31: Does somebody love you? 32: What is your favourite color? 33: Do you have trust issues? 34: Who/what was your last dream about? 35: Who was the last person you cried in front of? 36: Do you give out second chances too easily? 37: Is it easier to forgive or forget? 38: Is this year the best year of your life? 39: How old were you when you had your first kiss? 40: Have you ever walked outside completely naked? 51: Favourite food? 52: Do you believe everything happens for a reason? 53: What is the last thing you did before you went to bed last night? 54: Is cheating ever okay? 55: Are you mean? 56: How many people have you fist fought? 57: Do you believe in true love? 58: Favourite weather? 59: Do you like the snow? 60: Do you wanna get married? 61: Is it cute when a boy/girl calls you baby? 62: What makes you happy? 63: Would you change your name? 64: Would it be hard to kiss the last person you kissed? 65: Your best friend of the opposite sex likes you, what do you do? 66: Do you have a friend of the opposite sex who you can act your complete self around? 67: Who was the last person of the opposite sex you talked to? 68: Who’s the last person you had a deep conversation with? 69: Do you believe in soulmates? 70: Is there anyone you would die for?

PRESQUE VU
♡ ⋮ yandere ‘boyfriend’ x gn reader
cw ☆ it’s going to hurt.
“i don’t blame you, babe.” his fingers are intrusive, but gentle, as he pries your mouth open. his thumb is calloused, and you can feel the rough skin pressing against the soft flesh of your bottom lip and pulling it down with a pinch. “happens to the best of us,” he says, not unkindly. “and besides, i’m here to take care of you, yeah?”
you give him a sorry excuse of a nod, and he smiles at you over his glasses. “i love that, i ever tell you? when you show me you understand me?” he sighs. “i fucking love it.”
you can see your reflection in the glasses. faint, but unbearably noticeable for every last line of desperation. look at you, nodding again; going yes—yes, i understand you.
do you, really?
“see? you’re so good to me.” beyond the image of yourself, you glimpse the twinkle of his approval (and consequently; your assured safety—at least for now) in his eyes. he only wears his glasses in the early mornings and evenings, when he hasn’t got his contacts in yet. and he wouldn’t right now, considering the two of you’d just woken up. “sometimes, i almost think i don’t deserve you.”
you think of something to say, almost immediately. think of the words so fast that you end up losing them—slipping somewhere just out of your reach.
ah, come on—!
you know they’re important. these words, they mean a lot. it’s imperative you recall them; if only so they can leave your lips.
“but then i think,” dawn’s sun is gentle, blurry glow soft through the bathroom window; hitting him so nicely, and bathing the best and worst of him in gold. “who better for me than you?” features you’ve memorised down to the last detail, your inclination to observe and remember vacillating between an obedience rooted in fear and a strange, beautiful sense of duty owed to what could only be an even stranger sort of love. “and who better for you than me?”
please come back. what were you going to say? it’s—it’s right there, you know it is and you just—what was it, again?
you need to remember. these are very important words that must be said—!
“and no matter how many times i ask myself these two questions,” his other hand, just as rough and warm, squeezes the rolled up toothpaste onto the wet, bent bristles of his toothbrush. it’s a fresh white with specks of bright blue. “the answer is always the exact same. and isn’t that absolutely beautiful?”
he carefully cradles your face with one hand, the other holding the toothbrush by its hilt—or is it called a handle? a body? these autonomous concepts are far beyond your understanding. you perceive even the most mundane object in the only way you know how which is only the one way you’ve been taught to live by.
(hurt.)
but that’s not what you were looking for. no, you’re losing yourself—going off track. you frown, dig deeper. it’s frustrating and you hate the feeling.
you were going to say something—you had to be careful of what you said; speak up only if you’d thought what you were going to say through very carefully—
and here was something you’d thought to waste your few precious words on; only to forget—!
“don’t get lost in your head, lovely.” you blink. look up to find him watching you expectantly.
you realise with a sinking feeling that you’ve been gone for longer than you’d managed to catch. you don’t let that happen too often, nowadays. and for good reason. you immediately make a mental note beneath his curious gaze not to let it happen again.
“there you are. hi, darling. i really hate when you leave me like that.”
you’ve learnt to be attentive and observant, attuned to his every desire—and truthfully, as he often asks you when his mouth is sucking on the sensitive skin of your neck; are they really that different to yours?
so when you notice that his eyes are focused on your lips, instinctively, you part them with a shuddering breath; stand right on your tippy toes and slide your palms up, up, up his body and right over his shoulders—
“oh,” you’re knocked off kilter when his chest, as warm and strong and unyielding as ever beneath your pliant hands, reverberates with unexpected low laughter. you take a step back, but you can see in the reflection of his glasses that he sees it as a stumble; the falter of shame at him having caught your hand in a metaphorical cookie jar. “oh, poor baby. i wasn’t—”
he straightens. catches his breath to wipe a tear from his eye. “oh, darling. you thought i was going to kiss you?”
you stammer, pathetically, hopelessly; only end up looking like even more of a fool when the uncertain edges of an excuse in the back of your mind fail to solidify into something sharper; something that would cut and sink and stay under his skin.
it’s not your fault. really—! you’re just trying to remember those words you’d lost a second ago—where did they go?
he watches with great, quiet amusement as the words continue to evade you, despite your best efforts. eventually, your jaw falls slack and the cat really has got your tongue and even though you know the cat is right around the corner you can’t—can’t quite reach it to get the words back—when they were only just here one second—
“hey. that’s alright.” he squeezes your cheeks together with one hand, and you forgo any last, sad attempt at trying to talk. “i know, baby. i got you. i get it. you understand me, and i understand you. that’s how this works. you don’t have to explain yourself.”
the words in your head are getting closer. clearer. you can feel it; are acutely aware of the fact that you’re on the brink of a breakthrough. monumental for yourself, to know what to say for today, but worth very little to him.
“i’m sorry for laughing. you’re just so cute. i promise i’ll give you a kiss after, okay? i’ll give you all of the kisses you want, darling.” you nod again, more desperate this time. you want him to think back on this morning and remember his glowing success at solidifying your obedience rather than your own spectacular failure at defying him. his grip loosens, hands slide down to your chin—a finger tapping against your jaw with expectation. “but only if you can go back to showing me you’re listening. makes sense?”
it’s very important that you show him you’re listening. very important not to lose yourself in your own head.
“alright, darling. be patient, okay? this is going to sting for a bit. might hurt you a little. so hold onto me if you need, but do not,” he smiles softly, “even think about pulling away. alright?”
the last time you’d lost yourself in your head had also been the first.
you remember, still, looking up at him through your lashes the same way you are now. though, then, you’d been crying. you could afford to do that, before—wave the markers of resistance around like a white flag. it should have been easy; you’d surrender physically—but you wouldn’t really be there mentally. thought that would make the violating ordeal easier to bear.
he’d caught on, of course. the minute your eyes glazed over and your jaw went slack. he hadn’t even pushed his fingers (still slick from your arousal) past your lips—he rolled his eyes. muttered something to himself and got up, instead. you chose not to come back just yet; fearing he’d just return any second now and try again.
from somewhere far away, you’d heard the whistle of the kettle; both at once a shrill scream and yet as silent as a whisper, over the sound of his restless pacing in the kitchen, and then the strangely quiet steps down the hall again.
“you want to zone out when i’m speaking to you, baby?” he’d cooed. pulled out your tongue, pinched between his thumb and forefinger—warm skin unbearably uncomfortable against the wet, squirming muscle that he yanked further out of your mouth. you were there, now, physically and mentally—because you’d seen the kettle in his hands.
“darling, if you think i’m going to just let you check out on me,” he flippantly spoke over your screaming and thrashing, his knee on your chest was painfully digging into your ribs. your body was shaking violently. his hands were as steady as his gaze. eyes trained on your mouth, just like now. “then you don’t know me at all, and that’s very disappointing. so i thought,” he said casually, lips curling into something sweet. “maybe i should show you exactly what sort of man i am. just so you know not to ignore me, again. just so you remember to pay attention.”
and when you screamed again, he’d silently tipped the spout of the kettle over, fingers loosely wrapped around the hilt—and down, down, down had the boiling water gone; spilling straight into your mouth and right onto your poor little tongue.
so today, on this slow morning where the sun hasn’t even risen yet and the stars are still out in the sky, you listen very closely to what he says.
he lines the toothbrush up against your teeth. “open your mouth for me, baby. a little wider.”
you obey.
“that’s perfect, love. come just a little closer, will you? tilt your head up.” he kisses your nose. “good job, baby. now stay still.”
he’s looking down at you through his glasses with a quiet intensity, focused entirely on the task at hand. he still looks golden in the light of the rising sun.
the warm hand holding your jaw in place is soft and his movements are careful as he moves the bristles of the brush over your every tooth with a gentle affection.
he is cleaning you, helping you heal when he takes the utmost care not to let the brush he wields touch your tongue for even the barest moment; the muscle is lying uselessly limp, slack and scarred in the cavern of your mouth—heavier now from the burden of an unspoken confession.
because the words that had been just out of reach have come back to you as quick as they’d first disappeared. in a second, you almost stumble beneath the weight of them; the burden of needing to blurt out what you’ve worked so very hard to get back; something you need to say because you looked for it and found it and you need to tell him. you need to speak. let it out—
say it—!
but you can’t.
so because you can’t quite speak again just yet, even though he does his best not to make it hurt for you any more, you look up and smile at him; sweet, eager, and bright.
his lips curl. you glimpse the approval in his gaze. let yourself feel safe, again, in his hold as he presses another kiss to your nose. “i got you, baby. don’t even need to use your words for me to understand you. i know you already. like i said, nobody better, yeah?”
you can’t tell whether he’s referring to you or himself, so you stay very still as he continues brushing your front teeth, positioning your head at different angles as he makes sure to get every tooth. spends extra time on your canines, you notice.
“we’re going to have such a beautiful day, darling. i think i’m going to love you very kindly today. want to show you that i can be nice, baby. how’s that sound, hm?”
and even though you can see in the reflection of his glasses that despite his careful efforts, your gums are bleeding from the bent bristles of the toothbrush, the blood having mixed with the toothpaste, now staining your teeth a soft, foamy pink; because you won’t quite be able to say it just now—
it’s all you can do to split your lips into a grin and hope he understands.

How they met
summary: When Poison Ivy takes Gotham's central park hostage reader gets stuck with Red Hood and accidentally saves him.
warnings: mentions of reader being shorter than Jason, reader uses glasses, mentions of reader wearing a skirt, smoking, and this.
wc: 3,8k
It was just a matter of time of living in Gotham until you got stuck on a situation like this. You have to have the worst luck in the city because, on the day you finally give in and agree to dog-sit for a friend, Poison Ivy decides to show up when you take her on a walk. Of course, the dog was no idiot and ran away a while ago at the first sight of danger, so now you were stuck here in Gotham's central park. You have to admit you're not as scared as you should be, however you were getting mildly annoyed at hanging upside down with a vine holding you by your ankles. At least you could be glad it wasn't the joker.
It was a common topic of conversations late at night with your friends when you seem to run out of things to discuss, debating which Gotham rouge attack you could survive as a hostage. This topic was only second to "Which vigilante would you rather have to save you?", that one allowed for more rambling over who you thought was hottest. Still, no pointless drunk debate could prepare you for when it actually happened.
"Hey, excuse me, miss" You said when you watched her walk past and she stopped almost amused that you'd dare to speak to her "I understand that you're part plant, right?"
"That'd be correct" She paid close attention to you, she was intrigued by the fact that the effects of her "sleeping pollen" worn off fast unlike the other hostages next to you. You were supposed to be passed out for around 5 hours more, after all her pheromones never failed.
"Yeah, so, the rest of us are human" You tried to be as polite as you could so she wouldn't crush you to death "So could you please put us down, I'm getting a headache from having my head upside down"
She didn't say anything but agreed, the vines gently leaving you and the others on the grass before quickly wrapping you again. As you felt less and less dizzy, you could pay more attention to your surroundings. The concrete trail was shattered, plants breaking it from growing over it, the closest bench was split in half, and a water fountain was removed from the ground, water leaking from where it used to be. Though your vision is blurry since you lost your glasses from hanging upside down, you can still tell that next to you were the mother and daughter you saw seconds before it all went down. The mother chased after her daughter, demanding her to not go that far away from her. Then your friend's dog, the king Charles spaniel you only agreed to take care of because she was cute, ran away and you went after her. Next thing you know, a vine wraps around you and you're hanging from your ankles, no dog in sight. When did all of this happen? And how in broad daylight?
You heard a cracking noise and thought, "oh, no, were those my glasses?". Your head turned to see ruthless vigilante Red Hood picking up your glasses from the floor, or at least you think that is what he's picking up. It sounded much like broken glass. He could tell by the disappointment on your face that they were yours, so he quickly moved in silence getting closer to you.
"Sorry" He whispered, cleaning them up a little bit with against his red vest. He gently put them back on your face, and you nearly blushed at his hands brushing against your face.
"It's okay," You lied. You couldn't be mad at him for it, but you could dwell on how expensive it would be to fix them.
"I'll get you out of here." He promised, his voice was still low, not knowing if she was close enough to hear him. He started cutting through the vines to set you free.
"Sure" If you could've shrugged, you would have.
"Sure?" He repeated, offended. He wasn't expecting you to be overcome by joy by seeing him there, he's realistic, but you could show more gratitude. Even if he crushed your glasses.
"Or you could leave me here to die," You deadpanned, you must've been in this city for too long if this wasn't fazing you "so I don't have to turn in that essay on Monday"
"I won't," He quips back, finally breaking through and helping you throw the plants from you.
"Well, at least you're not a cop"
"Good to know I'm a step above them" He was beginning to wonder when was the last time he met a hostage so talkative as he worked cutting the vines that held the little girl captive. She lumped forward, still unconscious as you caught her, holding her until he could free her mom.
"Several steps, really" You corrected "You won't remember them, but you rescued my neighbors' daughter after she went missing for four months"
"Who? Zoey?" You were both surprised, you over the fact that he could recall her name, and him that you knew that. Those kinds of stories never made the news, or if they did, they never mentioned him if it was going to paint him in a good light. "How's she doing?"
"Yeah, she's better now"
Once he managed to cut through the last vine, he picked her up like it was nothing. You looked away trying to push down how attractive you found that. He guided you, signaling to stay quiet on what you hoped would be a way out of the dome she had created. And just when you thought you're out of trouble, a plant wrapped once more around your leg, dragging you and Red Hood back in. As twigs and being dragged through the floor scratched your arms and your face, you couldn't help but think, Why me? and that at least in that rough motion you dropped the girl, and the paramedics running your way would take her and the other woman.
This time, she was not as merciful, a thicker and stronger vine entrapped you both together with your back pressed against his chest. He tried putting his arms in front of you to stop the vine from getting tighter around you, but you're quicker than him in realizing what could happen.
"Stop, stop," you swatted his forearm lightly to get his attention; "it'll break your arms"
You were surprised to see him listen, and he put his arms back to his sides. You could tell he was trying to be as respectful as he could in this situation, trying to avoid touching you even if your butt was pressed impossibly close to him.
"Hood?" You asked nervously, feeling something pressed against you. "That is a gun, right?"
"I'm flattered, sweetheart." He chuckled, "It's a 9 millimeter, but don't worry safety's on"
"Uh-huh" You acknowledged his response, more worried about not panicking at the thought of being squeezed to death. It didn't occur to you earlier that you might die today. Well, it did, you just didn't have to accept it until then. In your desperation you tried wriggling your arms out, at least to get some room to breathe. The binding plant was right above your waist, constricting your lungs.
"Stop squirming like that."
"Sorry, I-"You gasped, on the verge of tears "god, what if I die? My friends won't have anything to say at my funeral"
"Hey, take a deep breath." You felt his hands on your hips, his thumb gently tracing circles on your back as the rest of his hand kept you in place, grounding you. It was comforting; he was trying to make you feel better, and you appreciated the thought. He leaned down his head until his forehead rested on top of your head "You are not dying, okay?"
"Okay," you repeated, your voice weak but less panicked.
"Besides, if we're having a bad funeral competition, I'd beat you for sure" He joked, trying to distract you "What were you doing here?"
"I uhm, I was walking my friend's dog, she's out of town for her sister's wedding"
"What's it called?"
"Anne Boneyn" Your response was met with a full belly laugh from him, it's almost contagious as you had to push your lips together and hold back a smile to avoid joining him.
"I'm sorry, whose idea was it?"
"Mine," you blushed, "only because she named my cat Joan D'cat"
He laughed again, and if you weren't scared for your life, you wouldn't have known how to feel about him so close to you.
"Wait until you hear about my other friend's turtle, Mary Shelley" You added inciting his laugh once more. It was a bit of a contradiction to see a man you know for a fact has killed many people before laughing this much over bad puns, but you felt flustered and a little proud that you were able to do that.
"I'll tell you something; when we get out of this, I'll help you find Anne, hopefully with her head still attached," He offered.
"Hey" You laughed "that's not helping "
As your laughs died down and you were reminded of his hands still on you, you started to wonder if Red Hood was single, you'd kill him if he was your boyfriend and found out he had a moment like this with another girl. You have to stop yourself from getting even more delusional, this was probably a random Thursday for him, and you had no reason to feel bad or even jealous of an hypothetical girlfriend. You brushed off how he made you feel, attributing it to either the adrenaline of the moment or the fact that he's quite attractive and you haven't had any contact with a guy in a while. You really couldn't help but grow a little crush on him when he's so reassuring, telling you that you'll be okay
Then you hear steps, both of you suddenly going quiet. You could see some plants moving, but not her or any other vigilante, though the latter would surprise you more since you heard Red Hood usually works on his own, and you've seen a few news articles of him and Batman beating the shit out of each other.
"We're far from Crime Alley, Red Hood" You could finally make out where she was through a cracked lens, was she always that green? or was her skin changing?
"I just happened to be in the neighborhood" He replied before whispering:"Try to distract her"
She made a face of what you could only describe as disdain, and she was about to leave when he nudged you to get her attention. If you could turn back, you would've shoot him an exasperated "what the fuck do you want me to do?" look. You grunted from the vine getting tighter and decided to do as he said.
"Can I ask you something?" You rolled your eyes at what you said, anyone with a quick wit would've told you that you already had. "Why the whole display of power in the middle of the city?"
"Why?"
"Yeah, don't get me wrong, I agree with the whole men are killing the planet thing" You took a deep breath and she noticed, loosening a bit the vines so you could talk "But why the park? It's the only place people in this city get to see some green... besides the botanical gardens, but we are right next to them."
"Are you saying I'm wrong?"
"No I-uhm, I'm just saying you got the target wrong" You quickly added before you made it worse "You know it's not the average person that's killing nature?"
"It's men's greed that is killing the planet"
"Still, in a shorter run, you'll get better results if you aim higher," You reasoned "You should go after the factory outside the city that's been polluting the water, or the biggest oil company you can find, or-"
"Hm," You were both surprised to see her actually think about it "I suppose I could try"
What? You were just rambling, trying to buy time for whatever plan Red Hood's got. You were not expecting her to take your suggestions seriously, and neither was him when he whispered a "what the fuck?" under his breath. Once she starts walking away and turns your back to you two you quickly move your head, shooting him a look that asks the very same question he had.
"And don't even try following me," she warned, you knew that was for the vigilante behind you. You were not going anywhere that isn't your own bedroom after this "my plants will let you go in half an hour"
You were at a loss for what to do for all that time stuck there, hopefully you could free yourselves faster. Though you wouldn't mind spending the time with him. You mentally scolded yourself for thinking like that, you needed to stop being so delusional. Lucky for you, he did have a plan, so as soon as the grip lessened up, he was able to get his arms out and cut off the vines.
"Are you going after her?"
"Nah, sounds more like the bat's problem to me" He shrugged, " 'sides I promised to help you find Anne"
He kept up that promise, he helped you call out and look for your friend's dog until you found her—alive and with her head still on her neck. You figured it took you around the same time you would've been trapped had he not cut you off earlier. Saying goodbye to him was surprisingly awkward, as if he didn't want to leave either. At least until he noticed a few police officers, then he really made a run for it, but not without waving as he left.
He nagged himself for that, letting his guard down that fast when a pretty girl was nice to him. Then reprimanded himself even more when the urge to find you got too intense and ended up investigating you. And felt equal parts, bad for watching you and relieved to find out you didn't have a boyfriend. Told himself it was for your safety when he made sure you got home safe late at night, and convinced himself he was doing you a favor when he fed your cat on the balcony when you were out or sleeping.
"Fuck," Is all that left your lips when he fell on the floor. Where did he even come from? You were looking at the city lights, distracted, when you heard someone stumbling and grunting.
When you turned to see the very same vigilante who you met a few weeks ago, saying you were shocked fell short. It's rare that you ran into him once, but twice? That's got to be luck-- or its opposite. His muzzle was shattered, God knows where the rest of the pieces fell, he was also covered in blood and holding his side as he tried to sit up. You managed to move amidst the initial surprise, and leave your cigarette on the ashtray to help him up.
"Hey, are you okay?" You asked, guiding his back to rest against the wall.
"Yeah, I'm fine, I'm fine," He repeated, as if he was not only trying to convince you but also himself, "It isn't my blood"
"You sure?" The way your hands lingered on his form did not go unnoticed, not that he minded at all.
"I'm just bruised," He explained before looking up. Of course, he'd end up at your building, and just by chance, you happened to hang out on your rooftop. "It's you again"
"Yeah, It's me" You held back a smile, he remembers you? You'd thought by now your face would've phased out of his memories, mixed along with the other people he must have helped.
"What are you doing here?"
"I live here-"You rolled your eyes, avoiding the real reason to be at a rooftop at 4 am. You could tell his eyes lingered on yours even under the mask before he looked up and saw the ashtray on the ledge. With renewed energy he got up, still using the wall to help himself. "Wait!"
He raised an eyebrow, and before he could make any witty comment, you beat him to it.
"I only do it when I'm stressed, okay? Not that I owe you any explanation"
"I get it," He sighed, reaching out for the pack and getting one out of the little box "You mind?"
You shook your head no, handing him your lighter. You watched him drop the broken muzzle and take the first drag with so much attention you had to tell yourself to stop being so awkward. You flicked the ashes off your own before your eyes went back to him. Jesus, what a fucking jawline, and now you couldn't stop looking at his lips. He was going to think you were weird if he caught you staring like this, or at least you thought that. Not that you would know he had been looking out for you since you met. From a distance, of course.
"I didn't get your name last time" He knew your name, you knew a guy with his resources probably already knew the answer. But you indulged him, saying your name out loud for him, "that's pretty"
"Thanks"
"So what's got you stressed out enough to be smoking this late," He said your name. You liked the way it sounds coming from his voice; he liked the way it rolls off his tongue so easily.
"Had the worst night out, ever" Now it was your turn to sigh, leaning in to rest your arms on the ledge. He was eyeing your outfit now, an oversized hoodie clearly thrown over a going out outfit, black tights and heavy boots visible under it. And if you leaned forward just a little bit, he could see a bit of the miniskirt your hoodie was hiding. "You?"
"I've had worse, had better" He shrugged, intentionally giving you a vague answer. He wasn't going to tell you about his activities, no normal person wants to hear about that much violence.
"Really?" You raised an eyebrow, your tone was playful, and he knew you were about to tease him "You seem pretty fucked to me, or should I have seen the other guy?"
"Hey, I've got no open wounds tonight" He smirked and you wanted to scream, why was that so fucking attractive? "I'm counting that as a win"
You let out a chuckle, and you just missed the way his lips curved up in a smile when you left the cigarette butt on the tray. His eyes followed your movement, looking at the lipstick-stained cigarette for a few seconds before returning his focus to you.
"Were you born here?" He asked
"Nope, I moved a couple of years ago for college"
"How's that going?"
"I'm getting my masters now" You shook your head, looking up at him before continuing "What about you? Are you a full fledged Gothamite?"
"Loud and proud" He joked, getting you to laugh loudly.
"Of course you are, I can't imagine getting a costume and going out to fight criminals every night" You teased.
"Hey!" He tried to sound offended at your remark, but he couldn't hide the smile he was fighting against, so he opted for changing the subject "I'm sorry, what did you say you were studying?"
With that, he got you to tell him about your masters, how you got into that field, and what you liked the most. You also got him to talk a bit about himself, even if he was not willing to give you that much information. Both to protect his identity and not to scare off the first girl he's had a crush on in a while. You both steered closer and closer to the other as you talked, close enough you could smell the intoxicating mix of gunpowder, sweat, and whatever cologne he used.
"Can I be nosy for a second?" You bit your lip at the risky question you were about to ask. He just nodded, his hands itching to touch you again, to wrap around your hips like they did last time he saw you. "What's the deal with you and Batman?"
"What deal? There's no deal" He brushed it off, he was about to take a step back when you stopped him. Pulling him in by grabbing his clothes, an eyebrow raised and a "do you think I'm stupid?" expression. "We don't get along, 's all"
"Really?" You knew you were pushing your luck.
"He hates me, I hate him" He explained, hoping to put your growing curiosity to rest.
"In my opinion," Your voice was soothing, and so was your hand on his chest. He didn't know how long it had been since he was touched like that; "hate like that can only be born out of someone you loved"
"He thinks I'm bad, they all do" You noticed how weak and sad his tone turned.
"I don't think you're bad, if it's worth anything"
He moved one hand up to cup your cheek, and he stared at you tenderly for a moment. It happened fast, his lips crashed onto yours in a second. You hummed, tasting the left over taste of the smoke, stood on your tip toes, hands fisting at his clothes to maintain some balance as he leans down too. His other hand rested on your back, but not too low trying not to push his luck with you. And he kissed you like he had something to prove, whether it was to you or himself you were not so sure of. What you were sure of was how warm he felt, your body pushed up against his in the cold, windy night. It felt like a consolation prize after such a terrible night.
And he wanted to tell you that he wished he was a normal person, that he had a normal life, and he could date you without it meaning a death sentence to you. But all it comes out is; "I wish I never met you"
"Excuse me?" You gasped, pushing him off "What a weird fucking thing to say after kissing someone"
"No—I mean" He sighed, hands cupping your face once again. You just couldn't resist that. "You're pretty, and funny, you should be kissing someone normal"
"I think I can make that decision for myself"
"I should go" He let go of you, and you grew colder by the second, already missing him before he left.
"Wait," You tugged on the hood hanging on his back. He turned back to see you, anything to make the moment last more. "I usually come up here on Fridays, in case you need to talk to someone"
He just gave you a court nod before jumping off, and you could only stand there and think about what just happened. Despite his better reasoning, he found himself swinging by your rooftop that Friday, and the one after, and all the next ones for the foreseeable future.

Just Another Valentine
Pairing: Lando Norris x Reader
Summary: Every year you and Lando spend Valentine’s Day together as part of an unspoken tradition, but this year something feels different, something that is impossible for you to ignore.
1.8k words / Masterlist
Valentine’s Day always had a way of making you feel like a spectator in your own life.
The smell of chocolate and overpriced roses was thick in the air, reminding you of the one day of the year you could always count on to make you feel at least a little pathetic.
It wasn’t that you hated it. It was cute in theory, love, grand gestures, all of that. But when you were single, the whole thing felt a bit like a slap in the face. And unfortunately, this year was no different.
But at least you had one constant.
Lando had a habit of making sure neither of you ever spent this day alone. Every year, if you were both single (which, more often than not, you were), he’d take you out, making sure the day didn’t pass unnoticed. It started as a joke years ago and then, it happened again. And again. Until it was basically tradition.
So when your phone lit up that morning with a text from him saying, Pick you up at seven. Wear something nice 😉 you knew exactly what it meant.
And for some reason, you spent the whole day trying not to overthink it.
By the time 7:00 p.m. rolled around you had already changed twice, first into something dressy, then into something a little more casual, only to second-guess yourself and switch again. Which was ridiculous because it was just Lando.
The same Lando who raided your fridge without asking, who stole your blankets during movie nights without a hint of remorse, who had seen you half-asleep and drooling on the couch more times than you cared to admit. The Lando who teased you endlessly, who could read your mood with a single glance. Lando who had seen you at your absolute worst, stressed over exams, hungover from nights you barely remembered, even the times when you’d just been a mess of emotions, and he never once flinched.
So why were your hands shaking a little when you opened the door?
Lando leaned against the frame, dressed in something a little nicer than his usual hoodie and joggers, a fitted black sweater and dark tailored trousers, smelling like something expensive. His signature grin was in place, dimples and all, as his gaze ran over you slowly, eyes darkening slightly, though he covered it with a smirk.
“Damn,” he said, cocking his head. “You really listened to me.”
You rolled your eyes. “You said ‘wear something nice.’ I figured you’d complain if I showed up in pyjamas.”
He put a hand over his heart in mock offense “I would never complain about anything you wore,” he teased.
You rolled your eyes, grabbing your coat. “Yeah, yeah. You want a gold star or something?”
“I’ll take a kiss on the cheek.”
You snorted. “In your dreams Norris.”
“You have no idea.”
You lightly smacked his arm as he led you out. The cool February air nipped at your skin as you got into his car, but it was warm inside, the radio playing quietly.
“So,” you said, glancing over. “What’s the plan?”
“You’ll see.”
Ten minutes later, you were standing in front of a little restaurant you’d never been to before. Intimate, dimly lit, tucked away in a quiet part of town. Fairy lights lined the outdoor seating area, and through the windows, you could see tables set with candles, couples leaning in close over their meals.
The hostess led you to a table by the window, and Lando pulled out your chair, waiting until you sat before taking his own seat across from you. You raised an eyebrow at his oddly formal behavior, but he just smiled, picking up the menu like this was all completely normal.
“You really planned this?” you asked.
Lando leaned forward, resting his chin on his hand. “Why do you sound so surprised?”
You eyed him, tapping the menu. “I don’t know. It’s suspicious.”
He laughed, shaking his head. “Remind me how you’re single again?”
You exhaled a laugh, running a finger along the edge of your glass. “Probably the same reason you are.”
HIs expression flickered, something unreadable passing over his face before he leaned back, exhaling through his nose with a laugh.
“Has it ever occurred to you,” you asked, “that we’ve spent more Valentine’s Days with each other than with people we’ve actually dated?”
Lando looked up. “Huh. Now that you mention it… yeah.”
You shook your head with a laugh. “Kinda sad, isn’t it?”
He laughed. “Or maybe we just have shit taste in partners.”
You hummed, swirling the wine in your glass. “Speak for yourself.”
“Oh, trust me, I am.” He shrugged. “Or maybe it just means we have good taste.”
“In each other?”
“Obviously.” He grinned. “C’mon, like I need an excuse to spend time with you.”
You paused for a second, something warm settling in your stomach.
The two of you had always been like this, flirting without thinking, teasing each other like it was second nature. But tonight, something felt different. The way his eyes lingered longer on you when you spoke. The way his fingers brushed yours when he handed you a drink. The way your knees touched under the table, neither of you moving away.
Then, as the waiter cleared the table, Lando reached under his seat and pulled out an elegantly wrapped box, sliding it across to you.
You blinked at it. “What’s this?”
“Open it.”
Inside was a Lego Bouquet set, a build-your-own floral arrangement, colorful and intricate.
You let out a surprised laugh, shaking your head. “You got me Lego flowers?”
“They won’t die,” he said, “and we could you know…build them together, it could be fun.”
You bit your lip, warmth spreading through your chest. “You really didn’t have to.”
“I know,” he said, softer this time. “But I wanted to.”
You ran your fingers over the box, heart pounding a little harder than it should’ve been.
Lando rubbed the back of his neck, suddenly looking unsure. “Is it weird?”
You shook your head. “No. It’s… really sweet.”
His lips twitched. “Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
You didn’t know why your voice was so quiet.
You let yourself relax as the evening passed, enjoying the food, the conversation, the way Lando somehow always knew how to make you laugh, and by the time dinner was over, the restaurant was starting to empty.
Lando leaned back in his chair, watching you. “So, did I do a good job?”
You smirked. “It was okay.”
He gasped dramatically. “Just okay?”
“Always fishing,” you laughed, nudging his foot under the table. “Fine. It was great. Thanks for making today a little less depressing.”
He scoffed with a laugh. “Wow. That’s the gratitude I get?”
You rolled your eyes but softened. “Alright, alright. You really didn’t have to do all this, you know.”
Lando tilted his head. “Yeah, I did.”
There was something in the way he said it that made your breath catch for a second. But before you could process it, he was standing up and paying the bill.
“C’mon,” he said, holding out a hand. “One more stop.”
You recognised where you were the second he parked up.
“The beach?”
He shrugged, killing the engine. “Yeah.”
You turned to him, raising an eyebrow. “In February? You hate the cold.”
He shot you a sideways glance, “I also hate traffic, but that would never stop me from picking you up.”
It was quiet this time of night, the sound of the waves filling the space between you as you walked along the sand. The air was cool, but Lando had given you his jacket somewhere along the way, and you pulled it tighter around yourself.
After a while, he stopped, hands stuffed in his pockets as he looked out at the water.
You stood next to him, stealing a glance at his profile. The soft glow of the city lights reflecting from the water caught the edges of his face, the sharp line of his jaw, the slight furrow in his brow.
After a moment, he sighed. “You okay?”
You blinked, glancing over. “Yeah. Why?”
“You’ve been quiet.”
You shrugged, toeing at the sand. “Just thinking.”
Lando hummed. “About?”
And then, without thinking, you said it. “I can’t help but think that this is a little more effort than someone would normally put in for their friend.”
Lando turned to you, eyes searching yours.
For a second, neither of you said anything.
Then—
“Guess I’m not as subtle as as I thought.”
You swallowed. “Lando—”
“I know,” he cut in, running a hand through his hair. “Bad timing, right? But I just… I don’t know how to keep pretending that I only do things like this because we’re friends.”
Your heart was hammering. “So, all of this—”
“Was me trying to tell you without actually telling you.” He scratched the back of his neck, looking almost shy.
You stared at him, the weight of his words settling over you.
And then, suddenly, it all made sense.
The way he always put you first. The way he looked at you when he thought you weren’t paying attention. The way he showed up, year after year, on this day of all days. The way you never questioned it, because, well, deep down, you had always wanted it.
You took a step closer. “Lando.”
His eyes flickered to your lips before meeting your gaze again. “Yeah?”
You smiled. “You really didn’t need all this effort.”
His brows furrowed. “What do you—”
You kissed him before he could finish.
For a second, he froze. Then, his hands found your waist, pulling you in as he kissed you back.
You pulled back. “Say it.”
Lando swallowed, his jaw tightening. “What?”
“Say it,” you repeated, voice softer this time.
His fingers twitched around your waist.
Then, low and rough, “I want you.”
Your stomach flipped.
When you finally pulled back you were both breathing hard, the air between you charged. Lando's hands lingered on your waist, his thumb tracing absent circles against your hip, like he wasn’t ready to let go just yet.
He let out a shaky laugh, exhaling slowly. “Fuck.”
You swallowed, your fingers still curled into the fabric of his sweater. “Yeah.”
His eyes flickered between yours, searching, like he was making sure he hadn’t just imagined it. Then, his lips curved into a smirk, soft, almost disbelieving.
“So… that wasn’t just a ‘thanks for dinner’ kind of kiss, was it?”
You huffed a quiet laugh, shaking your head. “No, Lando. It wasn’t.”
His smirk deepened. “Good. Cause I was really gonna struggle pretending otherwise.”
You rolled your eyes, but the smile tugging at your lips betrayed you.
He nudged your chin up with a knuckle. “You’re sure about this?”
You looked at him, really looked at him, the way his eyes held yours, the way his grip on you hadn’t loosened, the way this had always been inevitable.
“Yeah,” you murmured. “I’m sure.”
Lando grinned, eyes bright with something you weren’t sure you’d ever seen before.
“Finally,” he muttered, pulling you in again.

Daniela x Fem!reader
Synopsis: Valentine’s Day wasn’t your favorite day, but will it change when you get a note in your locker from a certain someone?
fluff, high school AU, mutual pining, friends to lovers, soft romance
Warnings: -
The hallways of your school were decorated in pink and red, heart-shaped balloons tied to lockers, and handmade Valentine’s cards pinned to bulletin boards. Students rushed past you, exchanging chocolates and gifts, giggling as they confessed to their crushes.
Valentine’s Day was always a big deal at your school. But for you? It was just another day. You weren’t expecting anything special—especially not from the one person you secretly liked: Daniela.
Daniela was effortlessly cool, with her leather jacket slung over her shoulders and that signature smirk playing on her lips. She was one of the most popular girls at school, but she never let it get to her head. Despite her sharp, confident aura, there was something about her that felt… warm. Maybe it was the way she always ruffled Yoonchae’s hair or how she teased Manon but always made sure to compliment her right after. Or maybe it was the way she smiled at you when she caught you staring a little too long in class.
You sighed, adjusting your books as you made your way to your locker. The halls were buzzing with excitement, but you ignored it. Valentine’s Day wasn’t for you—
Until you saw it.
A small, heart-shaped box of chocolates sitting inside your locker. Attached to it was a simple note:
“Meet me behind the gym after class. Don’t make me wait. –Your Secret Admirer”
Your heart skipped a beat. A secret admirer? You turned the note over, but there was nothing else. Who could have left this?
“Someone looks flustered,” a voice teased.
You spun around to see Sophia, Megan, and Manon standing nearby, smirking knowingly. Lara and Yoonchae joined them a second later, both carrying their own Valentine’s gifts.
“I—It’s nothing,” you stammered, stuffing the note into your pocket.
“Oh, come on,” Manon nudged you. “Someone clearly has a crush on you. Spill!”
Before you could protest, Lara leaned over to glance at the chocolates. “That’s a fancy brand,” she mused. “Whoever got these for you has taste.”
Yoonchae grinned. “Ooooh, maybe it’s someone we know?”
Megan crossed her arms, raising an eyebrow. “You should go. What’s the worst that could happen?”
Sophia smirked. “Or are you scared?”
You glared at her, then exhaled. Fine. If your friends were this curious, there was no way you were backing out.
The final bell rang, and you found yourself walking toward the gym, heart pounding. The late afternoon sun cast golden light across the empty school grounds, and as you turned the corner, you saw someone leaning against the wall, hands in their pockets.
Daniela.
Your breath caught. She looked effortlessly cool as always, but when she saw you, something in her expression softened.
“You actually came,” she said, a smirk tugging at her lips.
You blinked. “You…?”
She shrugged, stepping closer. “Yeah. Took me a while to work up the courage, but…” She pulled a single red rose from behind her back, twirling it between her fingers. “Happy Valentine’s Day.”
You stared at her, heat rising to your cheeks. Daniela? Your secret admirer?
“I—why didn’t you just tell me?” you asked, taking the rose hesitantly.
She chuckled, rubbing the back of her neck. “Because I wasn’t sure if you’d say yes.” She exhaled, finally meeting your gaze. “But I like you. A lot. And I was kinda hoping you’d like me too.”
Your heart raced. You couldn’t believe this was happening. Daniela—cool, confident Daniela—was confessing to you.
A small smile played on your lips as you held the rose close. “Well… I do.”
For the first time, Daniela looked relieved. “Good,” she said, grinning. “Because I was really hoping I wouldn’t embarrass myself.”
You laughed softly. “I think you did okay.”
She smirked. “Only okay?”
Before you could answer, you heard giggling from behind a nearby pillar.
“See? I told you it was her!” Manon whispered excitedly.
“Shhh, they’ll hear us,” Yoonchae hushed.
Daniela rolled her eyes, but there was a fondness in her expression. “You guys are the worst.”
Lara peeked out. “We just wanted to see if you’d actually do it.”
Megan gave you a thumbs-up. “Nice choice.”
Sophia simply smirked. “About time.”
You groaned, but Daniela just laughed, shaking her head. “Come on,” she said, taking your hand in hers. “Let’s get out of here before they start making bets on our first date.”
Your heart skipped a beat as your fingers intertwined with hers. Maybe Valentine’s Day wasn’t so bad after all.

Y/N had always been able to read Woozi like an open book. It was one of the things she loved most about him his honesty, his vulnerability, his openness. But lately, that openness had been replaced with a quiet distance that Y/N couldn’t ignore.
It had been a couple of weeks since their relationship had been made public, and the weight of the spotlight was clearly starting to affect him. She could see it in the way he would retreat into himself, his smile not quite reaching his eyes, the way his usual calm composure seemed slightly off. Tonight, after another long rehearsal, everyone was winding down, but Woozi wasn’t with the group. Y/N noticed he had slipped out of the room, retreating to a quieter corner.
She stood up and walked toward him, her heart beating faster with each step. She didn’t want to invade his space, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong.
“Woozi?” she called softly as she approached him.
He didn’t look up right away. His eyes were focused on the floor, his fingers tapping nervously against his knee. “I’m fine,” he replied, his voice not quite matching his words.
Y/N frowned, sitting down next to him. “No, you’re not. What’s going on?”
He sighed, running a hand through his hair. For a moment, it seemed like he was trying to find the right words, but when he spoke, his voice was low and full of hesitation. “It’s all happening too fast, Y/N. The fans, the attention... everything. It feels like there are more eyes on me now than ever before. And it’s just too much. I... I don’t know how to handle it.”
Y/N’s heart dropped. She’d known the public eye was hard on Woozi, but she hadn’t realized how much it was affecting him. “Are you saying... are you saying you want to end things?” Her voice was shaky with panic, her mind racing with the worst possible outcome. “Is that what you mean?”
Woozi’s head snapped up, eyes wide with shock. “What? No!” he exclaimed, looking horrified at the very thought. “How could you think that? I would never—”
Y/N cut him off, her breath coming faster now. “But you’re pulling away from me, and now you’re saying everything’s moving too fast. I don’t know what to think, Woozi. If you’re saying you can’t do this anymore, if you don’t want to be with me—”
“No, no, no,” Woozi interrupted, reaching for her hand, his touch warm but trembling slightly. “I’m not saying that. I could never say that. It’s not about you, it’s about everything else. The public, the media... I just... I don’t want you to be in the spotlight like this. You’re becoming a target, Y/N. And I can’t protect you from it.”
Y/N blinked, still not fully understanding what he meant. “What do you mean? I don’t... I don’t want to be kept in the shadows, Woozi. I want to be with you. I want to be by your side. But if you’re asking me to step back because you’re worried about the attention... I can’t do that.”
“I’m not asking you to step back from me,” Woozi said, his voice softer now. “I just don’t want you to get hurt. I don’t want people to treat you like some... trophy or prize. I can handle the pressure, Y/N, but I can’t bear the thought of something happening to you because of me. You deserve better than to be in the center of all this chaos.”
Y/N took a deep breath, processing what he was saying. “So... you’re not asking for space from me. You’re just asking me to protect myself from the world, to not put myself out there as much?”
“Exactly,” Woozi said, his shoulders sagging in relief as he looked at her. “I don’t want you to have to deal with the kind of pressure I’m facing. It’s not fair to you.”
Y/N sat back, her heart still racing, but her thoughts starting to calm. She understood now. It wasn’t about their relationship or Woozi pulling away from her—it was about his desire to protect her, to shield her from the harshness of their world. It wasn’t an easy request, but it made sense.
“You don’t have to carry this alone, Woozi,” Y/N said softly, her hand still resting in his. “But I get it. I understand why you’re worried. And if this is what it takes to make things easier for both of us, then I’m okay with it. I’ll step back a little. I don’t want you to feel like you have to protect me all the time. We can still be together, but we don’t have to flaunt it for the whole world to see.”
Woozi’s eyes softened, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. “Thank you,” he said quietly, his voice filled with gratitude. “You don’t know how much this means to me.”
Y/N leaned in, resting her forehead against his. “I just want you to be happy, Woozi. And I want to be there for you, no matter what.”
They sat in silence for a moment, just holding onto each other, the weight of the conversation slowly lifting as they both processed what had just been said. For the first time in days, Y/N felt like they were on the same page again, like they were truly understanding each other.
The next few days passed in a blur. Woozi and Y/N continued to spend time together, but they kept a low profile, avoiding too much public attention. They made small changes to their routine, intentionally staying away from places where they might be recognized or photographed. It wasn’t about hiding—they weren’t ashamed of their relationship—but it was about reducing the noise, making things a little more private.
Mingyu, of course, had his own opinions about it. He’d noticed the change in Y/N and Woozi’s behavior, and he wasn’t shy about teasing them.
“So, you two are playing the ‘low-key’ card now, huh?” he said one day, leaning against the doorframe of their practice room. “You’re not fooling anyone. You’re still obviously together.”
Y/N rolled her eyes. “We’re just... being careful, okay?”
Mingyu raised an eyebrow. “Careful, huh? Well, I guess if you want to keep Woozi safe from all the craziness, that’s your choice.” He paused for a moment, then added with a grin, “But you know, I think it’s a little suspicious that every time we see you two, you’re looking like you just walked out of a romance movie. Like, the way you look at each other... it’s honestly sickening.”
Woozi shot him a glare, though it was softened by the small smile tugging at his lips. “You really need to stop being so dramatic, Mingyu.”
Y/N laughed, feeling a sense of lightness she hadn’t in days. Even though they were still under the public’s watchful eye, they were finding their balance, adjusting to the new reality together. They weren’t hiding; they were just protecting what mattered most to them.

Past Relationships.
I know Valentine's day is around the corner, but I couldn't resist the urge to write about Yuu's past relationships~
"Yuu."
The girl looked over at Epel as the first year group sat in the courtyard. The winter frost had started melting early as temperature started to rise allowing the gang to break out the lighter jackets today.
"You said you were in a couple of relationships in the past. What was the worst?"
"Really?" Ace looked at the farmer. "That's what you ask?"
"I mean, she said she's been in worse ones before!" Epel crossed his arms. "I was just curious."
"It's fine, it's fine." Yuu waved her hand and hummed as she tried to remember. "I think I was like either thirteen or fourteen at time, I kinda blotted the guy's name from my memory. Probably Brad or some other boring shitty name. Uh, he was part of the basketball team and he asked me out on a date."
"You said yes?" Jack raised an eyebrow.
"I was young, sue me." She shrugged. "Anyway, he took me out on a movie date and a couple of other dates until we officially announced we were dating."
"There's a "but" in there." Deuce pointed out.
"You are correct. A week or two later, he starts acting really shitty. I'm talking calling me names and talking me down and shit. Calling me ugly and how I should be lucky he gave me a chance at all." She scoffs. "He even said I was pretty for a black girl, can you believe that shit? He even tried getting money out of me, saying how he was entitled to some of it since I was his boyfriend."
"He should be lucky he isn't here." Sebek crosses his arms with a glare.
"He wouldn't even last a day here. About a month into dating, he notices I'm not bending the knee to him, giving into his demands and everything. Basically, the emotional manipulation isn't working and so he tries to amp it up. By now, the whole school knows something was going on with me and him. I wasn't popular, but I was nice enough that people wanted me to be their friend." Yuu curled a strand of hair around her finger. "When the amped up manipulation doesn't work, he tries physically attacking me."
The boys eyes widen as they heard that and tensed up.
"Sevens, Yuu!" Deuce sat up. "What happened? Tell me you knocked this guy into next week!"
"I did. The moment he tried to punch me, I caught it and punched him in the face. He cried and held his face while he's on the ground, complaining that I broke his nose. He kicks at me and well.... I start swinging. Teachers had to pry me off of him and call my parents, big whole ass issue." She sighed.
"How did you manage to take all of that for a month?" Ortho blinks.
"Simple, I told my mom about everything he had done and she told me to write it down so she could gather evidence on it. But she also told me never to believe the lies someone like him spits out in order to drag me down. He didn't like how strong I was compared to him, so he tried to tear me down with words instead." She crossed her arms. "My dad and mom said I could only fight back if he throw the first punch, he did and he was swiftly put in his place. Come to find out it was all a dare one by his shitty teammates cause they dared him to ask me out and date me because they thought I wasn't attractive enough."
"What happened to the guy, Henchhuman?"
"The school and his family got sued, they tried to sue us instead but because of all the evidence and eye witnesses, they couldn't get away with it. That's the story, the end~"
"I see why he's the worst now." Epel muttered. "Almost regret asking. Wait... is that why you have issues with Ace ghosting that girl?"
"Can you stop bringing it up!?" Ace snapped.
"Honestly, yeah." Yuu fixed the red head with a glare. "But I've gone off on him about it."
"So..." Jack spoke up. "...Does he know?"
Everyone's eyes shifted over to see Leona walking down the hallway as he yawned. He was unaware of the eyes on him as he continued walking.
"I've told him everything and I had to stop him from shredding the bed." Yuu gave a soft smile. "Four relationships and this one is the golden one."
"...Wait four?"
"Story time's up boys!" She got to her feet. "Another time maybe."

scared of loving you | choi seung-hyun (t.o.p)
・❥・ summary: spending valentines day with your best friend/roommate is the norm but this year ends a little differently ・❥・word count: 1.2k ・❥・warnings: alcohol mention but that's about it ・❥・ authors note: happy valentine's day!! here's some tooth rotting fluff to celebrate <3
Valentine’s Day always seemed to come around so fast. People always seemed so excited for it, always on the search to find someone to spend it with. It was nice in a way that it spurred people to put in the effort but it had never been a day you looked forward to. It wasn’t that you didn’t like – you did but after one bad Valentine’s as a teenager, you never really cared. It was just like any other normal day. One that you would spend at home sat in front of the TV eating as many snacks as you could get your hands on.
Love was great, amazing even but you had never experienced it properly. It was like you had closed yourself off from it which was ridiculous because you loved love. Or what you knew of it anyway. People told you it could be one of the best and worst things you could ever experience. Having someone that cared for you no matter what? Amazing but putting all your trust in them only to have them break your heart? Not so great. Maybe it was best you hadn’t experienced it because then that way you didn’t have to get hurt.
The sound of the TV echoed through the walls of the apartment, your feet tucked underneath you as you rested on the couch, some cheesy Hallmark movie playing. If anyone asked, you’d say you liked to laugh at them but the reality was you always seemed to get invested in them. The stories they told (albeit some of the corniest to exist) were cute. Never in a million years would they happen to anyone but it was nice to dream.
Popping a piece of popcorn into your mouth, a loud yawn was heard from the doorway which could only mean one thing. Seunghyun – your roommate and best friend of the last ten years – had finally woke up. Yesterday had been a busy press day for him so he’d spent most of the day sleeping. You knew better than to wake up a sleeping Seunghyun so you left him to it. Out of the corner of your eye you could see him padding into the room, throwing himself down on the couch next to you.
“Not got a hot date today?” He asked, reaching over to steal some popcorn from the bowl you were cradling. You slapped his hand away much to his dismay.
“You ask me that every year and my answer is always no. You know I never do anything today,” you shrugged, watching as he made a move again to grab some popcorn. Giving in, you placed the bowl on the small coffee table in front of you.
“Yeah, and? One day you are going to have a hot date and I’ll be all alone.”
“You go find a hot date.”
“Why do I need to when I’ve got a pyjama princess right here?” He teased, raising his brows at you as he finally popped a piece of popcorn into his mouth.
It was hard to stop the blush creeping on to your face. Seunghyun always did this. Through the whole time you’d known him, he always flirted with resulting in you blushing each and every time. He was the only person who could ever manage that feat, something he knew and used to his advantage. Your eyes looked down at the pyjama’s you were wearing, shrugging your shoulders. He was the only person you would ever feel comfortable wearing them around. With Seunghyun, you had no worries. There was no fear of him judging you, it was nice to feel like you could be completely yourself. He allowed you the safe space you had always wanted. It was one of the many reasons he was your favourite person to be around. It was also a massive bonus that he was extremely handsome. Maybe even the most handsome person you’d laid eyes on. You had told him so one night when you were drunk and he’d never let you live it down.
“Wanna order pizza and watch these stupid movies with me?” You asked, smiling over at him. You might not have had a date but you had your best friend. That was all you needed.
“Guess I can suffer through these stupid movies for you.”
It was a few hours later, half eaten pizza on the coffee table, an empty bottle of wine on the floor as the two of you sat laughing watching yet another cheesy movie. The wine in the glass you were holding almost spilled out over the edge onto the carpet but you didn’t care. You were having too much of a good time. Seunghyun was sat right beside you, your head on his shoulder as you lazily grinned at the TV screen. His arm was around your shoulder, his fingers twirling a piece of your hair around his finger. It was the first time in a long time you felt content, curled up beside your best friend.
But, he was more than just a best friend, wasn’t he?
There had always been a hint of something more, something deeper between you and Seunghyun. There was a reason that for the last ten years the two of you had spent Valentine’s Day together, why you’d much rather be lazing around with him than going out and actually finding someone. There was a reason he made you laugh harder than anyone else, why your stomach would always do flips when he smiled at you.
It was a terrifying realisation. Was this actually what being in love felt like? If it was, you weren’t sure if you ever wanted it to stop. The feeling of contentment, of feeling so... cared for and appreciated – it was everything.
Seunghyun’s cheek rested on the top of your head, the domesticity of the moment making your heart pound. As if sensing you were lost in your thoughts, he decided to speak up, his voice softer than normal. “What’s going on in that head of yours, princess?”
The silly little nickname he often gave you made you feel dizzy, the corners of your mouth twitching up into a silly little smile. Your free hand rested on his thigh, the contact sending Seunghyun into a frenzy much to your obliviousness. “Thinkin’ about how I think I might be in love for the first time.”
“Oh yeah?” He lifted his head up to look at you, taking your glass and placing it on the table. “Who’s the lucky person?”
You could hear the hope in his voice, the way his fingers gently brushed against your cheek now. You met his dark eyes, the gentleness of your voice almost taking him back. “I think you already know.”
There was no hesitation as his hand rested on the back of your neck, leaning down to press his lips against yours in a kiss. All the hidden feelings finally getting their release. Your hands fisted in his shirt, pulling him impossibly closer to you as his hand tangled in your hair. It had started off slow, gentle but soon turned passionate. Your head cloudy as the feeling of his lips moved against yours in perfect harmony. It was very reluctantly that he pulled away, his breath heavy as he rested his forehead against yours.
“Happy Valentine’s Day,” he breathed, barely giving you a chance to reply before his lips were back on yours.
Maybe Valentines Day wasn’t so bad after all.

"Jungwon”
Silence.
“Baby pleas-”
“No” he responded. “You told me I was the first man you fell in love with. Who's the ‘bus guy’ F/n said you loved before me??”
more under cut! ⬇️
Jungwon was on the couch sitting with his legs and arms crossed. His eyes were slightly furrowed and his lips formed into a slight pout.
It was such an adorable scene. You would've giggled at the sight if you weren't determined to get your boyfriend to forgive you by tonight. He's been depriving you of affection since your hangout with F/n and her boyfriend yesterday, and you just can't stand it anymore.
You were on the armchair diagonal to him. Trying to reason out with him before your patience runs out.
“I wouldn't say love-”
“F/n said that you applied to the same tutor house he went to, even when you didn't need help studying. She also said that you found out his favorite cafe and stayed there just to catch a glimpse of him even when they made shitty drinks.” He stated.
You were honestly surprised at how much he remembered. You recall talking about your ex crush for a solid 5 minutes before moving on to another topic.
“Well-”
“Not only that!” Oh he wasn't finished. “F/n also mentioned how you’d ask your brother to take the long way home so that you could follow ‘bus boy’ and see him again because that's always where he was headed! You hate going home late! You didn't even go to the same school as him! How could I say you were in love with the guy with the amount of effort you put to see him??”
“Yeah well, every girl falls in love with a guy on a bus at least once right?” You tried to reason out.
Jungwon huffed before facing the other side, completely turning away from you.
You sighed before walking over and sitting next to him.
“Babe” you started, hands going up to hold his face so that he'd look at you. “You don't have to worry about anything, okay? Yes I liked him, but that's in the past now. I'm with you now, aren't I? There's no need to be jealous baby” you kissed him on the nose after talking.
Jungwon melted into your touch. “I'm not jealous, I swear. I just wanna know which asshole had your heart first.”
You held back a laugh. You were 100% sure if you laughed right now he will not let you sleep with him tonight.
“Okay, you really want to know?” You asked again.
“Yes.” Jungwon replied, with a cute but serious expression on his face.
“Then let's make it a game”, you replied. “If you can guess who he is with 3 or less of my hints, I'll buy you that new hoodie you wanted—and lots of kisses.”
“And if I lose? I don’t even know the guy.” Jungwon raised his eyebrow.
You simply smiled. “Oh you do know him, trust me. No hoodie if you lose.”
He thought about it for a minute, before eventually agreeing. What's the worst that could happen right?
“Okay, first hint” you started. “He didn't go to the same school as me.”
“I already know that” he whined.
“Oh shush if I tell you something else you'll know who it is immediately”. You softly glared at him before continuing.
“Next, he was in the grade above me.”
He tilted his head slightly. “Okay, that's new. What's the last one?”
You smirked, ‘this is gonna be fun’ you thought.
“The number of the bus he always rode was 726” you replied.
Now he was really confused, his eyebrows were now furrowed and his eyes kept darting around the room. As if the walls around him would give him the answer he's looking for.
“Bus 726? I'm..very lost” he said after a few minutes of thinking.
“Final answer?”
“No wait!” he exclaimed.
You waited for him as you both sat there, the atmosphere so quiet as he thought long and hard about who the mystery man was.
“Was it Jaeyun?” He asked after a long pause.
“Nope”
“Yeonjun?”
“Babe he's like, 3 grades above me.”
“Ricky?”
“We were classmates 5 times.”
“Felix?”
“I barely know the guy.”
“Nicholas?”
“Who?”
“Maybe it's Sungho-”
“Okay!” You grabbed him by the shoulders, cutting him off. “I promise you love, it is none of you friends. I don't even know majority of them”.
Jungwon just looked at you, clueless. “Well if it's not any of my friends, who could it be?”.
You sighed before standing up to grab something from your bag, feeling Jungwon's eyes following you.
“Where are you going?” He asked.
“I’m going to grab my phone, I still have some pics of him from before.” You said as you pulled out the gadget from your shoulder bag and started scrolling through your photos app.
“What?!” Jungwon gasped. “My love, why the fuck do you have pictures of another man in your phone. Just tell me, are you still interested in him?” He asked, stress and hurt evident in his tone.
You started to feel bad at this point, but you can't back out now. This will be the grand reveal.
You sat back down on the couch, scrolling to find a pic of the mystery guy. Meanwhile Jungwon sits next to you, practically hovering over your phone with how close he was.
“Aha!” You exclaimed.
“What? What is it?” Jungwon asked. His eyes are instantly glued on your phone screen. wanting to know what you found.
“I still have the best picture I took of him saved, look!” You turned the phone so that he could see it.
Jungwon made sure to take a good look at the picture, lots of names immediately coming to his mind. But none of them match the face in the picture because he sees himself.
It was a candid picture of him on a bus. He was looking down on his phone, doing something. He doesn't recall how old he is here, but he guesses he was in his early teenage years from the uniform he's wearing in the picture.
“Wait…how do you have this? I don't understand…” Jungwon trailed off.
You mentally face palmed. “Baby, didn't you ride a bus to go home after school? Does Bus 726 not ring any bells at all?”
A few seconds passed, before a light bulb went off his head.
“Oh my god” he muttered. “I'm the bus guy you fell in love with? Your first love?”
You let out a relieved sigh. “Yes, Jungwon, you are my first love.”
Jungwon was shocked. He felt relief and joy all at the same time. But he's still confused over one thing. “Wait but- but how do you have this picture of me? Oh my, were you in the bus stalking me during this??” He asked accusingly.
“What? No!” You retorted. “I took it while I was in the car. You literally mentioned that I follow ‘bus boy’ around in my brother's car like 20 minutes ago, remember?” You defended yourself.
You looked at the picture, suddenly feeling nostalgic. “That was actually the second U-turn my brother did. The bus wasn't moving but I couldn’t tell my brother to stop the car and cause traffic just because I didn’t snap a proper picture of you now could I?”. You laughed at the memory. “My brother was pissed after that”.
“I thought of showing you when I gathered enough courage to talk to you. But by the time I did, you already graduated and changed schools.” You told him with a small sad smile.
“Oh” Jungwon replied. His mouth stayed at an ‘o’ shape as he took the information in.
“Um” he hesitated. “You didn't follow me until I went home, right? Just to make sure you didn't actually stalk me before we met.” He asked.
“What? No!” You retorted, again. “I always stopped following you after the first stoplight. I may be there at places you're usually in without you knowing, but I know where the line is” you reassured him.
Jungwon let out a relieved sigh. “Okay, just making sure…”
“Wait, is this why your brother was like ‘thank fuck it's over’ when you introduced me to your family as your boyfriend?” He asked.
You smiled at him sheepishly. “Yeahh, aside from the U-turns, I asked him a lot of favors regarding you so that's why…”
Jungwon grinned, “I'm your first love.” he was teasing you right now. But deep down, he was glad that the competition he thought he had was only himself. He didn't know what he'd do if he had to fight another man for your love.
You rolled your eyes. “Yeah yeah don't get too excited. You're not getting any hoodie because you didn't guess it right.”
“I don't care,” he responded, still grinning widely. “Me knowing the fact I was your first love is enough of a gift for me. Now, where are my kisses?”
You stood up, preparing to run away from him. “Not a chance babe, you lost!” You said as you dashed down the hallway, heading to your shared bedroom with him.
Not long after he ran after you. “Hey, you didn't say no to kisses if I lost!” He said, laughing as he chased you.
Jungwon is a very jealous man. That's how you know he loves you. Luckily for you, you always know how to reassure him that he's the only one.

Doing a larger post about how to deliver information in a story using Elden ring and it's lack of narrative as an example and I got a bit sidetracked, so enjoy this ramble:
Alright, let me explain myself, but before I do, take a look at the elden ring story trailer...
youtube
Damn, that’s an excellent trailer, in just under four minutes we have:
The inciting incident of Godwyn’s death
The setup that there’s a ruinous war between the demigods that’s reached a stalemate
Multiple mysteries we want to see answered including: What was the rune of death and how was it stolen and why? Who killed Godwyn the golden and set off the Shattering war? What the FUCK is happening to Godwyn? What was the elden ring, who shattered it, and why? Who’s this spooky doll lady And why do I want to kiss her?
The call to action: We live in an age of terrible conflict but you could put a stop to it if you become the elden lord.
Hell yeah, that’s some excellent setup. None of which is in the game itself. Instead lets look at the intro cinematic..
youtube
The opening narration is weirdly disjointed, with sentences seeming to cut off and jump around randomly. What’s more, We have no relationship to this narrator: in the story trailer the exposition was delivered directly to us the player by a specific character in the form of Ranni. Whereas the opening narration is delivered by an abstract narrator to… no one in particular? The piles of dead tarnished? The stakes and call to action are likewise far clearer in the story trailer: “Become Elden lord to stop the ruinous war” is way more proactive than “ There was a war.. become elden lord” Don’t even get me started on the fact that the war took place hundreds to thousands of years before our character even arrived and the setting has just been hanging about in limbo since.
Whereas the story trailer gave us stakes and mysteries to solve, the opening cinematic leaves you with a general sense of “huh?” as most of the images in the slideshow only make sense once you already know what’s going on. It even goes as far to give you information you don’t need, introducing a bunch of characters that we might not meet for hours with no other context than “ Hey, remember these names for later”. Fia suffers the worst for this, as the surprise that she’s actually a strangely intimate necromancer is spoiled by the fact that she’s shown canoodling a corpse in the intro.
How do you fix this? Have Hoarah Loux give the opening narration. He led the tarnished into exile and now he’s giving a rallying speech summoning them back. The tarnished have suffered during the (thousands of?) years of their banishment in the badlands and now they have a chance to return to the Lands Between, their home, if only they can follow the guidance of grace and complete their queen’s request. Have the intro highlight how shitty the badlands are, and how glorious a place they left behind.
This sets up a mystery because as soon as we get to the lands between as we’re faced with this bizarre broken landscape and Marika’s disappearance. We want to desperately find out HOW things got this way, and how/why the queen called us back. Finding Marika isn’t just incidental… her say so and authority determines whether the Tarnished will be allowed to resettle in the lands between or be hunted as outlaws, giving our character a reason to pursue the plot other than the aimless push out the door we get in the vanilla cutscene.
Along the way we’d find Ranni, who’d explain about the (preferably ongoing) Shattering war, and what we could do to amend it, whether that be finding the queen or stepping into a place of authority ourselves.
……I’m going to have to turn this into a d&d campaign aren’t I?

wc. 6k (what in the actual fuck happened here)
—🕷️🕸️🕷️—
when he first discovered that such a simple and seemingly harmless spider bite had such irreversible effects on him, charlie, to put it bluntly, was petrified.
even from the moment the spider bit him, for all he knew he could soon be literally petrified by the way the bite was making his arm feel weird already and though he can’t say he’s necessarily well versed in arachnids, that was not a spider he’d ever seen before.
he knew most likely it was just paranoia, but his brain was swirling with worst case scenarios.
nonetheless, it was very late at night and a college student such as himself did not have the money nor the means for an emergency room visit, so he decided to attempt to sleep it off, and if it seemed to be worse in the morning he’d see what he could do.
well, maybe that’s an oversimplification of events.
he’d called you, practically hyperventilating and saying his goodbyes, scaring you shitless as well for a good minute before you’d finally pried out of him what had happened.
luckily, entomology was something you were actually studying, and you had enough knowledge of various spiders that when you arrived at his apartment (for his own peace of mind and yours) you were able to calm him enough to the point that planning his own funeral was no longer at the forefront of his mind.
with the strange spider safely captured in a small jar (as afraid as he was, he couldn’t bring himself to kill it) he felt a little better even just from your calming presence.
(“charlie why did you put a piece of cheese in there?” “i wanted to be hospitable.” “.. cheese.” “i don’t know what spiders eat!”)
you spent the night on his couch that night as well (he hadn’t asked, but you knew if you left he might start typing up a will) so you were able to keep an eye on him.
the next morning charlie wakes up feeling fine, albeit a bit groggy. he flops out of bed, and he rubs the sleep from his eyes as he wanders across the hall to the bathroom.
grabbing his glasses and sliding them on, he looks down at the spot on his arm that he’d been scratching at to check it’s status.
but its.. blurry?
he rubs at his face again and blinks to focus his vision, and the same thing happens.
its not until his hand pushes his glasses up and he gets a view without a lens that he realizes that its actually his glasses that are the issue. he moves them out of the way, and to his shock he can see completely clearly without them. he lifts them up to sit on his head, looking at himself in the mirror, absolutely dumbfounded.
“what.. the fuck?”
“charlie?”
he jumps, banging his knee on the counter.
“jesus! sorry,” you chuckle, hands up. “not a spider!”
“har har,” charlie mocks, massaging his leg, a cute pout on his face.
you step into the bathroom, reaching up to adjust his glasses that had fallen from the crown of his head to the tip of his nose. he squints, rubbing at his temple.
“you.. okay?” you venture, watching him blink hard a few times.
“yeah! uh-“ more blinks, eyes wide- “i’m good.” a fake smile. its your turn to squint, not quite believing him.
you see him instinctively clenching his fist, shaking out his arm a little. you grab it and drag him forward a little to examine the splotch on his forearm.
“mm.” you hum. you brush your fingers along the bump, making a shiver roll up charlie’s spine. he watches you over the rim of his glasses.
“its a little red, but it looks okay. i don’t think it was poisonous.”
“great! uh- cool, that’s good news,” charlie bumbles, an awkward smile on his face.
he stares at you.
you stare at him.
your face is blurry.
he adjusts his glasses.
“right..”
he gulps.
“well. i have a lecture soon, so i should get going.” you give his arm a little pat and release it from your fingers. he nods, scratching at it absentmindedly again.
“still on for movie night later?”
charlie answers without thinking through it.
“of course.” shit.
you grin at him. “great.” shit shit shit.
but the twinkle in your eyes and the way your fingers ruffle through his messy hair makes his heart flutter less with anxiety and more with something.. warmer.
you turn and round the hallway corner and charlie lets out a tense breath he didn’t know he was holding. he knocks into a small table from his lack of clear sight as he follows you, and swiftly blames it on lack of sleep when you quirk a brow at him.
a minute later you’ve gathered your things from the living room, the bottled spider included to take to your class to be studied, and give him a wave as you walk out his front door.
“see you tonight, spider man.”
charlie takes off his glasses once the door is closed behind you, sighing heavily and rubbing a hand down the side of his face. he rubs his thumb across his forearm, your touch lingering in his mind.
“spider man.” he scoffs, but he can’t help the fond smile that turns up his lips.
—🕸️🕷️🕸️—
“where are your glasses?”
“i got contacts.” charlie lies through his teeth.
“today?” you question incredulously.
“… yeah.”
you clearly don’t believe him, if the way your brow furrows is anything to go by. you’d seem him just a few hours ago.
“is it because i always call you a nerd? you know i mean that affectionately right?” charlie hears the hint of guilt in your voice and panics.
“no! yeah i uh, i do- i just-“ he trails off. he isn’t sure where else to go with this. you catch the awkwardness, watching as he scratches the back of his neck, and decide to let it go before he starts sweating.
“well if you can’t see the screen don’t ask me what happened,” you joke, lightening the mood to charlie’s relief. you set down the snacks you brought and plop down on the couch, propping your feet on the coffee table, remote in hand.
charlie relaxes in his spot next to you, ripping open a bag of chips. “you’d probably be asleep even if i did.” you roll your eyes and smack his arm. charlie lets out a laugh.
fourty five minutes later, charlie does have to ask a question about the movie you’re watching (but not because he couldn’t see, he’s just been daydreaming for most of it.)
and lo and behold, you are asleep, so he’s left to wonder.
charlie starts to reach for his drink on the table in front of him, but you, wrapped around his right arm and sleeping comfortably, tighten your grip when you feel him start to move.
he moves just the left side of his body forward, ever so slowly, wiggling his fingers as he strains to grab his can without disturbing you.
but suddenly, something knocks into the can, denting the side and sending it falling over with a tinny clang against the wood. liquid spills from the opening and dribbles over the side and onto the floor.
“how the fuck-“
“shhh,”
he freezes, looking down at you. you pull him back again, nuzzling your face into his shoulder. your cheek presses up against his sleeve, smushing up your face and charlie’s heart almost explodes. he reaches up gently, pushing a tuft of hair away from your face, and you hum happily.
charlie thinks for a second that maybe a stain on his carpet is worth it if he can stay like this forever.
something stuck to his wrist catches his attention.
its a strand of web.
charlie yelps before he can catch himself, frantically flicking his arm to detach it and startles you awake in the process. you let out a similar yelp in practically the same octave as his was, jumping up and clutching tighter onto his bicep.
“what!! what happened?” you squeak.
he doesn’t answer, just continues his task of brushing off every square inch of his body to rid himself of any potential dangers. when he deems himself safe, he looks over at you, and is met with crossed arms and a disgruntled look.
“sorry! sorry,” charlie huffs apologetically. he clears his throat, his face flushing red from embarrassment as he explains, “spider web.”
you chuckle incredulously, rubbing your eyes and letting out a yawn. “spider web,” you giggle through a playful smirk. you stand, stretching your limbs, and hobble in the direction the bathroom.
“try not to die out here without me, alright?” you quip as turn the corner.
charlie groans. he gets up himself to grab a towel from the kitchen, coming back to crouch down and sop up the mess still dripping from the table. he picks up the can and tries to set it back on the table top, but it sticks to his hand. even when he uncurls all five fingers from it, its still stuck snugly to his palm.
he uses his other hand to grab it and pry it away, and it disconnects with a sticky snap, leaving multiple strands of web connecting his skin to the metal.
“jesus fucking christ,” he gripes, watching the web strands flutter under his breath.
“oh, there really was a spider web,” it’s charlie’s turn to startle, jumping a bit as he sees you crouched down right beside him, observing the wiggly webs.
charlie gives you an indignant look, one that reads ‘did you think i was lying?’
“honestly i just though you were being paranoid.” charlie rolls his eyes, nudging you with his shoulder.
“sorry! not my fault you’re a scaredy cat!”
“i am not!” he defends, pressing the towel further down into the carpet plush.
you glide your fingers up the back of charlie’s neck in a gentle tickle, and right on cue he lets out a little ‘eek!’, slapping your hand away. he pushes you softly and you giggle, falling back from your crouched stance on your toes and onto your butt. you hug your legs, resting your chin on your knee as you watch him continue to dry up the mess.
“they probably just like you, i know i do.” you drop a little hint at the end. he never seems to catch on.
“they can like me all they want, just far away from me please.” he grumbles, taking the can to the kitchen to toss it in the trash.
“spiders are friends!~” he hears you sing from the other room.
he drops the can into the bin, hoping this is the last of his spider related worries.
—🕷️🕸️🕷️—
charlie never thought he would ever be friends with spiders. let alone be one.
it took him a while to realize that the spider bite had caused him more trouble than just a slight fear of the nooks and crannies of his apartment. much more trouble.
he discovered that it was him creating the webs he was finding around when he dropped his pen once while writing out some notes for a class, and when he tried to grab it before it hit the ground, he’d caught it with a collection of web strands that shot out of his wrist instead.
he discovered how strong his webs were when he tripped on the staircase while running late one day, spurting out a web that stuck to the wall and caught him, and tugged him upright before he hit the ground.
and he discovered how useful this strange new talent could be outside your apartment.
“so, any news about that spider? you brought it in to study it, right?” charlie asks as nonchalantly as he possibly can.
“oh, actually yes! we think it might be a-“
suddenly a hooded figure runs by, snatching your backpack from right off your shoulders, and sprinting down the sidewalk through a dense crowd of pedestrians.
the stranger nearly knocked you to the ground with the push and shove of stealing your belongings. charlie caught you, steadied you on your feet, and booked it after him, leaving your confused cries to stop behind him.
his speed and reflexes seem to be heightened as he caught up in a few seconds flat, and in a fraction of that time he had a web wrapped around the strap of your bag, pulling it directly into his chest to wrap his arms around, and a leg out to sweep the thief’s legs straight out from under him, sending him face first into the pavement.
you caught up to charlie after a moment, heaving heavily from your tired lungs. your eyes widen at the scene in front of you; a completely unscathed charlie and a nearly unconscious criminal bleeding from the nose below.
“how did-“ you struggle for a full breath. “how did you do that?”
“uhm- adrenaline, i think?” honestly, charlie isn’t quite sure how he did this either.
“charlie, you could have gotten hurt!” you scold him, trying your best to sound steady and serious, but by the way your hands tremble and your voice wavers it tells him you were more worried for his safety than anything else.
“i wasn’t gonna stand there and do nothing,” he says like its the most obvious thing in the world. he settles your bag back on your shoulders, looping your arms through the straps for you. your eyes gloss over and you’re gnawing at your lip like you’re trying your best not to cry.
“your laptop is expensive. we can’t have you lose that,” he jokes, attempting to lighten the mood.
you let out a trembling laugh, and yank him into a hug him with a full crushing force. “you’re such an idiot,” you whine, and he returns the hug with a chuckle of his own.
charlie isn’t sure how he did this or what exactly is going on, but what he is sure about is that whatever is happening to him, using it to protect you will always be his first priority.
—🕸️🕷️🕸️—
the idea to become a “hero” of sorts struck charlie one day like a bolt of lightning.
the notion sounds absolutely crazy, charlie knows that, but the circumstances have fallen directly into his lap, and he knows that if he has the ability, the real ability to protect people, he should take it.
he practices his web slinging in private, and he’s gotten quite good at it; he now can do it on command instead of at random, and can control it when he needs to.
(and yes, he’s made all of the jokes, even if he’s the only person around to laugh. he can shoot sticky white goo from his wrists, did you expect him not to be a little silly with it?)
he practices his dexterity in the air out in an old alley that no one has any reason to frequent. in doing so, his muscles have bulked up significantly, and he was flustered beyond belief when you of all people were the one the pointed it out.
he told himself that if he was going to be this new face of justice, he should protect his identity and keep it separate from his personal life. he didn’t want anyone he knew and loved getting involved; if someone got hurt because of him he wouldn’t be able to bare it. so he’s made a few suit prototypes from old clothes and green acrylic paint. he may not be the craftiest, but he made do, and he learned some sewing basics in the process (though you really wouldn’t be able to tell. overall he commissioned someone to make a suit for him.)
the last thing he really needed came to him after he’d successfully helped a woman with an issue involving a man following her down the street late one night. after making sure the woman was safe enough to leave, he attaches his web to a fire escape and is about to swing away.
“what do i call you?” she yells out from below him as he hangs from the rail.
he thinks for a second. web boy? no, that’s dumb. arachnid kid? a little silly, he likes that it rhymes, but it still doesn’t feel right.
and then it hits him.
“spiderman.”
he swings away, and within the next few weeks, ‘spiderman’ is everything that people are talking about.
you included.
“have you seen him?” you ask him excitedly, rocking back and forth on your heels as you both stand in line at your favorite ice cream shop. “he’s so cool!”
he chuckles a little. “i’ve heard of him.” a blush creeps up on his face he hopes you don’t see, but you’re too excited to even notice. “cool, huh?”
“so cool!” you thank the worker for your milkshakes and leave the small shop, the bell above the door jingling as you step outside. “i want to talk to him so bad, i bet he’s so interesting, and he’s probably so cute under the mask,” you daydream out loud as you walk down the sidewalk.
charlie coughs a bit in surprise. “what makes you think that?”
“don’t be jealous,” you poke, a smirk on your face. “just a hunch.”
in a split second you’re suddenly yanked to the very side of the sidewalk by charlie as you’re about to step onto the crosswalk. before you can comprehend why, someone comes barreling through on a bicycle, shouting a faint ‘sorry!’ as they whiz by, the wind fluttering your hair. your milkshake slips from your fingers, a small gasp leaving your lips, and charlie grabs it before it can splatter across the ground, placing it back in your hand for you.
“you okay?” he asks, brushing off your jacket. you don’t answer, still staring off in the direction the bike went in shock. as soon as everything catches up to you, you look at him, eyes wide. “that was insane! when did you get such crazy reflexes?”
“what do you mean?” charlie sweats a little. “didn’t you hear him coming?”
you shake your head. “no that’s not it, you did that so fast, and my drink-“
“i think- i think you were just caught off guard,” he excuses, checking both directions and ushering you forward to keep walking.
“so um. you were talking about spiderman?”
—🕷️🕸️🕷️—
and talk about spiderman you did.
specifically, you talk about how you would love to meet him, to speak to him.
so, who would charlie be to keep that from you when he is the one you want to meet?
well unfortunately, it wasn’t his choice.
(how was he supposed to go about that? knock on your door and say “hello random citizen, i’m spiderman! your best friend charlie who i totally don’t know and definitely am not the same person as said you wanted to talk to me”?)
no, in reality, it was a total accident.
he finds himself crash landing onto the roof of your apartment building after a particularly brutal fight he’d gotten himself tied up in, his fatigue and pain not letting him swing any longer to make it all the way back home. he groans loudly, cradling his leg in his arms as he lays on the cold roof in the fetal position.
“spiderman??”
fuck. he knows that voice.
he lifts his head up in the direction it came from, seeing your head pop up over the ledge of the building. before he can say anything, you scramble up from the fire escape and run over to his side.
‘great,’ charlie thinks. this is the second worst byproduct of you having a top floor apartment. (he still remembers how sore he was after having to help you drag your mattress up several flights of stairs when you moved in.)
“are you okay?”
“i’m fine, i’m good, i just-“ he attempts to stand on his own, but groans again, and crumples under his own weight. its your turn to catch him before he falls.
“oh god, um, i can help! just- here-“ you sling his arm around your shoulder and huddle into his side, and you help him hobble to the edge. he clambers down the fire escape, using his webs to keep him relatively stable, and fumbles through the window and onto the floor of your apartment. he hits the carpet with a thud and a moan.
“sorry! um, i’ll get my first aid kit! i’ll be back!”
you leave and come back in a blind hurry, making quick work of rolling up the torn part of his suit to get a clear enough view of the gash in his leg to start your process. it hurts at first, a lot actually, but the pain subsides not long after. maybe because its you doing it, and he trusts you more than anyone, but he feels so much love and care in your movements.
he lets you focus in quiet for a while before he finally decides to say something.
“for someone who studies bugs and not medicine, you’re pretty good at this.”
you raise your eyebrows at him, wrapping a bandage around his calf. “how do you know i study bugs?”
shit. “just a hunch.”
you glance at him, not convinced.
“the pinned butterflies on your wall.”
“ah,” you say, nodding.
whew.
“maybe i just like butterflies.”
“that could be it too.” he chuckles under the mask. “i mean they’re pretty. like you. so it makes sense.”
you blush, a smile tugging at your lips. “smooth.”
“thanks, i know,” charlie drawls, leaning to suavely rest on his elbow next to him, and hits his head on a table. “ow.” you both laugh.
when you finally get him patched up, he thanks you (he almost leans in for a hug on accident, but settles for a firm handshake instead) and climbs over the windowsill in preparation to take his leave.
“hey, can i ask you something?”
charlie’s heart pounds. “sure.”
“can you.. come back sometime?” you twist your fingers nervously as you ask, avoiding his eyes. “i always wanted to talk to you but, this wasn’t really.. under the best circumstances, i guess.”
charlie’s brain doesnt know if he should say yes, but his heart knows he could never say no to you, spiderman or otherwise.
“of course.” your smile makes it worth it.
he slings a web up onto a bar of the fire escape and flings himself out.
“wait!”
he turns back, glancing back down at you leaning out the windowsill, the chilled wind fluttering your hair.
“i don’t just like butterflies. i like spiders, too.”
charlie grins.
“i didn’t used to like spiders. but i think they’re growing on me.”
and with that, he swings away.
—🕸️🕷️🕸️—
despite his better judgement, charlie does come back. more than once.
he knows he shouldn’t appear as spiderman in front of you more than he needs to, but it just makes you so happy, it was physically impossible for him not to when he knows he’s the reason for your smile every time.
he sits with you now on the roof of your apartment, the same place you found him the first time, and the same place you two always meet now.
“-and that’s the story of how i met my best friend charlie.” you finish your story, face flushed from laughing, and he’s forever grateful you can’t see his face under his mask. if he’s being honest (having lived through that torture with you) you actually told it way less embarrassing than he remembers it being. whether you perceive it less humiliating than he does or if you’re just gracious enough not to go into detail with strangers he’s not sure, but he’s thankful nonetheless.
“seems like you really care about him.”
“charlie?” you ask, leaning back to rest on the heels of your hands. “well, yeah. he’s my favorite person in the whole world. don’t you feel that way about your best friend, too?”
charlie feels his face heat up. “yeah, um. you pretty much took the words right out of my mouth.”
“yeah? tell me about them. what’s their name?”
“hey, whoa,” charlie lifts his hands in defense. “ask me about my favorite ninja turtle all day, but i can’t be giving out my best friend’s identity. why do you think i wear the mask?”
you laugh, nodding in understanding. “okay, okay, fair.”
a comfortable silence falls for a moment, and charlie watches you gaze at the stars above the city lights.
“you remind me of him, you know.”
“huh?” charlie snaps back into the present.
“charlie. you guys seem really similar, honestly. same mannerisms, same cologne-“ you know the smell of his cologne? “you say things sometimes that i definitely think he would say. same favorite ninja turtle, too.”
he never really realized you paid this much attention to him. his heart flutters.
“ehh, i don’t know. guy sounds like a total nerd.”
you snort out a laugh. “oh he is,” ouch?? “but he’s my nerd. i love him just how he is. i wouldn’t change a single thing about him.”
“.. you love him?”
another silence. this one a little more.. tense.
“i love all my friends, but charlie is.. different.”
“different how?”
“i’m not in love with my other friends.”
charlie’s brain nearly short circuits right then and there. how he gets a single comprehensible sentence out of his mouth after that is honestly beyond him. but he’s not charlie right now, he’s spiderman.
“i’m in love with my best friend too.”
“really?” you look at him, a sense of hope in your eyes, like you just found the only other person in the world in the same position as you. if you only knew.
“this,” he motions to his suit, and in turn the whole act of being spiderman at all. “its for them. i help everyone i can, of course, but,” he seems to be lost in thought for a second, drumming his fingers on his knee. “like you said, they’re different. i’d do anything for them. anything at all.”
you tilt your head at him. “wow, who knew a superhero could be so sappy.”
“yeah, yeah,” he waves his hand dismissively. “my bad, gotta protect my stone cold image.” you huff out a laugh.
“have you told them?”
“no.”
“why?”
“same reason as you, i’m guessing.”
“fear?”
“fear.”
a knowing look is passed between you.
“my best friend doesn’t actually know i’m spiderman.”
“wait really?” you ask, surprised.
“how am i supposed to tell them that? ‘hey by the way i’m risking my life every day for you!’ that seems like a horrible conversation.”
you chuckle. “yeah, i get that. i suppose its similar to the reason you haven’t confessed. the fear of rejection is present either way.”
“exactly,” he sighs.
after a second, a light bulb seems to come on above your head. “hey, i’ve got an idea. you tell your best friend you’re spiderman, and i’ll tell my best friend i’m in love with him.”
“that’s a terrible idea,” charlie admits through a chuckle.
“is it?” you feign indignant. “if they love us, they’ll accept us, right?”
charlie thinks it over for a second, his heart racing so fast he hopes you can’t hear it.
“okay. deal.”
you grin. “perfect.”
how the fuck is he gonna do that?
“charlie should actually be on his way, i’ll call him to make sure.”
shit. shit. he forgot about movie night.
you pull out your phone, tapping quickly to find his contact and press your phone to your ear. charlie panics, pulling his phone from his suit just as it starts to ring, and presses end as soon as he can reach the button.
you give him a puzzled look, and he huffs nervously. “sorry, scam calls.” he shoves his phone into his suit before you can see it.
“hm. it went straight to voicemail. that’s odd,” you muse, glancing at the ‘call ended’ screen.
“maybe he’s driving. yknow, gotta stay safe,” he bumbles, nerves flooding his system as he stands up and dusts off the back of his legs. “hey listen, its been great, but i just remembered i have to go-“
“wait, wait!” you jump up as well, grabbing onto his gloved hand. “can you stay for just a minute? i think charlie would really love to meet you!”
“i really uh- its- its important- i should-“
“it’ll just be a second! i promise! don’t move!” you plead, pointing at his feet as if that could cast a spell to keep him here. you give his hand a squeeze, and before charlie can stop you, you hop down the fire escape and scurry back into your apartment.
—🕷️🕸️🕷️—
charlie is fucked. absolutely fucked.
as soon as he sees you disappear into your apartment to wait for, well, him, he slings himself down to an alley to ‘charlie’ himself up.
luckily, he has spare clothes stored across the city in case of emergencies like this. he stuffs his hand through a hole in the bricks of an abandoned building and pulls out a backpack, and as quickly as he possibly can, he pulls his clothes on over his suit, shoves his mask in and zips it up. he ruffles his messy hair in an attempt to seem a more presentable type of messy, and sprints out into the street.
now trekking up the stairs toward your apartment door, he thinks there wasn’t even really a logical reason to do this. he could have just told you right then that it was him, but something inside him told him that wasn’t the right time or place.
stopping in front of your door, he prepares himself, catching his breath before he knocks.
you swing it open, a huge smile on your face.
“charlie! i have something to show- why are you so sweaty?”
“i uh- i was running late so i ran.” he fumbles for an excuse. he walks in and is about to kick off his shoes when you grab his arm, dragging him across the living room to your window.
“come with me first! i have something to show you!” you say, brimming with excitement.
“hold on- i need to-“
“hurry!” you squeal, and hop out the window to climb the ladder. charlie internally groans, following after you.
he grabs the rungs and hoists himself up behind you. “can i tell you something first?” he calls upwards. “its important!”
“this is important too! he has to be somewhere!”
oh, so now you listen to that information.
when his head pops up above the ladder to see the rooftop, you’re already looking around, confused.
“where did he-“
“why are we up here?”
“i’m looking for someone! he said he would stay for a second,” you whine.
he never actually agreed to that, but he’ll let it slide.
you grip the barrier of the roof and pull yourself up to stand on the ledge, putting your arms out to steady yourself as you survey the area.
“what are you doing!” charlie yells, running up to you and grabbing your waist to prevent you from falling. “you have terrible balance!”
“relax, i’m fine. maybe if i fall he’ll come back to swoop in and save me.” you joke, lifting your hand up over your eyes like a lookout.
and as if the universe took that as some sort of sick challenge, a huge gust of wind blows through, knocking your balance off. you tilt forward with a strained yelp, flailing your arms. charlie tries to grip your belt loops but they slip from his fingers, and he lets out an exasperated ‘fuck!’
bracing yourself for a horrendous fall, you let out a scream, squeezing your eyes shut.
but it never comes. you’re suspended in the air, but there’s no wind rushing up, no sinking feeling in your gut, everything just.. stopped.
you pop an eye open, met with the rough red texture of the brick in front of you. you follow your arm that’s outstretched above you upward, expecting somehow to see charlie’s grip wrapped around your wrist, but instead you see a bracelet of weaved white. you lock eyes with him, a terribly worried expression on his face, the same white around your wrist attached to the underside of his.
for the first time, it all clicks together.
the webs in his apartment. the way they have the same voice, same habits. the way the spider on the suit is charlie’s favorite shade of green. his change in demeanor these past few weeks. charlie having a limp from the same leg spiderman injured at the same time. the fact that you called him spiderman the very first time. it all finally makes sense.
“you-.. you’re-..”
“surprise,” charlie whispers, a small, guilty smile on his face.
“can you. pull me up, please?” you tremble.
“oh! yeah, sorry.” charlie brings you in with ease, grabbing firmly onto your body until you’re sat on your knees on the safety of the roof. you lunge forward, trapping charlie in a bone crushing hug, like if you let him go you’d fall right back over the edge with no one to save you again. he feels that you’re still shaking, and wraps himself around you with equal fervor.
how could you have been so stupid? so clueless? you had every single piece of the puzzle, yet you were so blind to the placements.
it hits you then, that you had confessed to him without knowing it.
charlie pulls you back when you stop trembling, and holds onto your shoulders, scanning you for any injuries. “are you okay?”
when he locks eyes with you, he sees how flustered you look, the blush on your face, and he has to bite his lip to supress a smile.
“well, this is a little awkward,” he chuckles.
“you’re such an idiot,” you scoff, but he hears no real weight in your words.
“i should have known. no ones favorite ninja turtle is leonardo except yours.”
“don’t bring my boy into this.”
“why didn’t you tell me?”
“well i think spiderman already explained that.”
you roll your eyes. “yeah, he told me quite a bit actually. some pretty gushy stuff.” charlie whines nervously, scratching the back of his neck.
“big mouth on that guy, huh.”
“charlie.”
“hm?”
“i have something to tell you.”
he smiles shyly. “yeah?”
you grab charlie by the zipper of his jacket, pulling you together to connect your lips in a kiss. his hands immediately find your waist to pull you closer, practically falling on top of him. he tilts his head to kiss you deeper. you sigh happily in tandem.
after a second your hands find the sides of his face and you pull away, giggling at how you both can’t stop smiling and its making it hard to continue.
“i love you, charlie.”
“i love you, too.”
you run your thumb across his bottom lip, admiring the contours of his face and how his goofy grin and lidded eyes are so full of warmth.
“don’t you have something to confess to me, too?”
“i still don’t like spiders.”
“charlie!” you push him back by the chest and he laughs, wrapping his arms completely around your torso.
he wiggles his fingers up your spine in a crawling motion, making you shiver and swat him away in a fit of giggles. he leans in close to your ear, and whispers-
“i’m spiderman.”

Valentine's Day (2025)
It wasn’t that Bakugou Katsuki hated Valentine’s Day. He just hated how stupidly obvious his feelings were on it.
For months, he’d been struggling with this.... thing. A crush. On you. And as much as he wanted to deny it, his body refused to cooperate. His eyes always searched for you first in a crowded room, his heartbeat picked up when you smiled, and—damn it—he actually cared about what you thought of him.
Today was especially awful because everywhere he looked, people were handing out chocolates, writing dumb love letters, and whispering about confessions. Worse, his stupid friends kept teasing him about his feelings. Kirishima elbowed him during class, wiggling his eyebrows. Mina kept giving him these ridiculous knowing looks.
And you? You were as infuriating as ever, laughing and chatting, completely unaware that you were wrecking him.
What he didn’t know was that you were suffering just as much.
You had been crushing on Bakugou for months, but no matter how hard you tried, you couldn’t find the courage to tell him. He was intimidating, loud, and way toogood-looking for your sanity. Even worse, when he wasn’t yelling, he was doing things that made your heart race—like carrying your books without being asked or standing just a little too close.
And today? Today was hell.
You’d spent the entire morning overthinking. Should you confess? Should you just give him chocolates and run? Or should you pretend like this was just a normal day and suffer in silence?
Neither of you were prepared for what actually happened.
+++
It started when you both reached for the last bottle of your favorite drink in the vending machine.
“Oh,” you said, blinking up at him.
His eyes flicked to you, then to the bottle. “Tch. I was here first.”
You raised an eyebrow. “We got here at the same time.”
He scowled. “Yeah, well—”
And then, like an idiot, he just... handed it to you.
Your breath caught. “You—are you sure?”
He grumbled something under his breath and shoved his hands in his pockets. “Just take the damn thing.”
Your heart thumped painfully. He didn’t have to do that. He could’ve taken it for himself.
You hesitated for half a second before blurting out, “I like you!”
A beat of silence.
His head snapped up so fast you worried he’d get whiplash. His face turned red in record time.
“What?!”
Your hands flew to your mouth. Oh, no.
Oh no oh no oh no—
Bakugou gawked at you, brain short-circuiting. His body moved before his thoughts could catch up, and the next thing he knew, he was yelling, “Well, I like you too, dumbass!”
A second, heavier silence.
Your hands were still clamped over your mouth. His eyes were impossibly wide. You both stood frozen, staring at each other in complete shock.
Had you seriously just confessed at the same time?!
It took all of two seconds for the reality to sink in before the both of you absolutely lost it.
Your brain shut down, your entire body heating up. You turned on your heel, about to flee, but Bakugou grabbed your wrist before you could escape.
“Oh, no you don’t!” He barked, face still red. “You don’t get to drop that bomb and run!”
“I didn’t mean to say it!” you wailed, covering your face with your hands.
He groaned, dragging a hand through his hair. “You think I meant to?! It just—fuck! This is your fault!”
“My fault?! How is it my fault?!”
“You—you were just standing there, looking at me with your stupid face—”
“My stupid face?!”
“I meant—you always look stupidly cute and it pissed me off, okay?!”
You swore your soul left your body. Bakugou’s eyes went wide when he realized what he said, and for a moment, he looked like he wanted to explode on the spot.
And then, because neither of you had control over your emotions, you started laughing.
You doubled over, holding your stomach, while he groaned and buried his face in his hands. “Shut up,” he grumbled. “This is the worst confession ever.”
You gasped between laughs. “You—you just called me cute while yelling at me.”
His glare was weak at best. “I’ll kill you.”
“You won’t.”
He huffed, looking away. “...I won’t.”
The laughter eventually died down, leaving a strange sort of warmth between you. Your hands fidgeted around the drink bottle. “So... now what?”
He exhaled, running a hand through his hair. “....Wanna go out with me?”
Your breath caught. “You’re actually asking me?”
“Obviously!” He scowled. “I just yelled at you about liking you, dumbass.”
You bit your lip, trying to suppress a smile. “Yeah. I’d like that.”
“...Good.”
Neither of you moved at first, still a little stunned. But then, hesitantly, Bakugou reached for your hand. His palm was warm, rough but careful. Your fingers intertwined naturally.
“...I’m still taking you on a proper date,” he muttered.
Your heart swelled. “Looking forward to it, boyfriend Katsuki. Happy Valentine's Day.”
His face turned red all over again. “Shut up.”
But he didn’t let go.

Plot Twist
Word Count: 444 Summary: “Would it be so bad?” Jaemin finally asked, his voice softer this time. “Am I that insufferable?” Pairing: Jaemin X GN Reader
Navigation
“You look like someone just told you your favorite coffee shop is closing.”
Jaemin’s voice jolted you out of your thoughts. You blinked at him from across your bed, where you sat cross-legged, the weight of your family’s expectations pressing down on you. He was lying on his stomach, scrolling through his phone lazily, but his gaze flickered toward you with concern.
“I think this is worse,” you muttered, running a hand through your hair.
Jaemin raised a brow. “Worse than losing your overpriced caramel macchiato? That’s serious. What happened?”
You hesitated before sighing. “My parents want me to get married.”
Jaemin snorted. “Yeah, well, most parents do. It’s kind of a thing.”
“No, Jaemin. Like, now. They’ve set me up with some rich guy from a family they do business with, and I’m supposed to agree because it’ll ‘help our future.’”
Jaemin pushed himself up on his elbows, his expression shifting from amusement to something more serious. “Wait. You’re actually considering it?”
“What choice do I have?” You let out a bitter laugh. “I know this marriage is supposed to help my family, but it’s such a cliché—me marrying someone I don’t know for money.”
Jaemin was quiet for a moment, something unreadable flickering across his face. Then, casually—too casually—he said, “You should just marry me.”
You whipped your head toward him. “What did you just say?”
He met your gaze without hesitation. “You heard me.”
Silence stretched between you.
“Would it be so bad?” Jaemin finally asked, his voice softer this time. “Am I that insufferable?”
Your lips parted, but no words came out. You and Jaemin had been inseparable since childhood, the kind of best friends who could communicate with a single glance, who showed up at each other’s houses unannounced, who knew everything—almost everything—about each other. But you had never once considered this.
“I—” You hesitated. “Jaemin, marriage isn’t just some joke. It’s a big deal.”
“I know.” His gaze softened. “But isn’t it better than marrying some stranger? We know each other. We already put up with each other’s worst habits. And I’d take care of you, Y/N.”
Your heart skipped a beat at the sincerity in his voice. Jaemin was always teasing, always playful, but there was none of that now. He was serious.
“You don’t have to decide right now,” he added, rubbing the back of his neck. “But if it’s between me and some rich guy you don’t even know… just think about it, okay?”
You stared at him, feeling the weight of his words settle into your chest. The crazy thing was… it did make sense. Maybe too much sense.
And that terrified you.

Chapter 1 — Love is a scam
Valentine's Day at Dream Academy was the worst.
The hallways were drowning in heart-shaped balloons, pink streamers, and tacky paper hearts taped to every available surface.
The student council had really outdone themselves this year, turning the cafeteria into some kind of lovesick wonderland.
The scent of chocolate and cheap roses hung in the air like bad perfume, and to make matters worse, a live band was playing slow love songs on the stage.
It was the kind of scene that would make any hopeless romantic swoon.
Too bad you weren't one of them.
Slumped over your lunch tray, you stabbed halfheartedly at your food, watching couples exchange shy smiles and hand-written love notes. Someone let out an excited squeal near the entrance—probably another confession happening. Gross.
"Ugh, I hate love," you muttered, setting your fork down with an irritated clatter.
Your friends, who have been watching you with a mix of concern and amusement, exchanged knowing looks.
"Okay, Grinch," Dani teased, nudging your arm. "What did love ever do to you?"
You shot her a deadpan look. "Dumped me three weeks before Valentine's and now it's rubbing itself in my face."
"Fair point," Lara said, sipping her soda. "But in love's defense, Jay was kind of a jerk."
Jay—your now ex-boyfriend—wasn't the worst guy in the world, but he wasn't exactly the best either. You've been together for almost a year, and then, just when you thought things were solid, he hit you with the classic "I think we should take a break." Which, as everyone knew, was a breakup code for "I'm already over this, but I don't want to look like the bad guy."
So yeah. Love sucked.
"I don't get why this holiday is such a big deal," you grumbled, watching as a guy from the soccer team handed a bouquet to his very flustered girlfriend. "It's just an excuse to flex relationships and make single people feel miserable."
Dani smirked. "Or maybe you're just better because you're single now."
"Gee, thanks for the insight, Dr. Phil."
Lara leaned back in her chair, stretching her arms. "I mean, if you really hate it, you could just skip the rest of the event. No one's forcing you to be here"
You let out a dramatic sigh. "Yeah, but then I'd be sitting in my room alone, sulking. At least here, i get to be bitter in good company"
"Aww, that's the spirit!" Dani cheered, patting your back like a proud coach. "Embrace the bitterness!"
The band on stage finished their song, and the lead singer stepped up to the mic. "Alright, lovebirds, this next one’s a classic. If you’ve got someone special, grab ‘em close!"
As the opening notes of some cheesy love song filled the air, couples started slow dancing near the stage. You groaned, resting your forehead against the table.
This was going to be a long night.
Before Dani could respond, the speakers crackled, and a voice boomed across the cafeteria.
"Attention, everyone! Don't forget to follow the Valentine's color code! If you're not wearing a designated color yet, grab a shirt from the booth near the stage!"
You groaned. Right. The stupid color-coding system.
Every year, the school forced students to participate in this ridiculous tradition, where your relationship status was basically put on display through the color of your shirt.
Red meant you were in love. Orange meant you were single but had a thing going with someone. Blue was for the heartbroken. Pink for those searching. White for the ones who prioritized studying over romance. Yellow meant you were moving on. Black? Bitter. And wearing your normal uniform meant you weren’t interested at all.
Dani stood up, pulling a black T-shirt from her backpack and grinning. "I, for one, am proudly representing Team Bitter." She slipped the shirt over her uniform, showing off the bold lettering across the front: LOVE IS A SCAM.
Lara rolled her eyes and pulled on a yellow shirt. "I’m moving on, thank you very much."
You hesitated for a second before sighing and grabbing the blue one from your bag. "Guess I’m Team Broken."
As you pulled it over your head, Dani nudged you. "You could’ve gone black and joined me in my hatred of love."
You smirked. "Tempting, but I’m not that dramatic."
"Rude," Dani scoffed, crossing her arms.
"Bitter is a valid life choice."
Lara laughed, but then her gaze flickered to the entrance. "Uh-oh. Here comes Mr. Moisture ."
Your body tensed as you spotted him walking in—wearing an orange shirt. Single and connected. So he already had something going with someone else. Figures.
You turned back to your tray, pretending you hadn’t seen him.
"Alright, we are officially boycotting sad thoughts," Dani declared, grabbing your arm. "C’mon, let’s go mess around near the confession booth."
"Why?"
"Because watching people panic over their crushes is hilarious."
You sighed but let them drag you along. If nothing else, at least you weren’t sulking alone.
As the band on stage started another slow song, you glanced around at the sea of red, pink, and orange shirts around you, feeling your stomach twist. Maybe you were bitter. Maybe you did hate love.
Or maybe you just hated the fact that it felt like everyone was moving on except you
The confession booth was one of the biggest attractions at the event—students could drop anonymous notes in the designated boxes, and later, volunteers would pin them up on a large board for everyone to see. Some were dramatic, some sweet, and some just straight-up weird.
"Look at this one," Lara snorted, pointing to a note written in bright red ink. I love you so much, but I’m too scared to say it in person. Please notice me, A.M.
Dani laughed. "Classic secret admirer move. Respect."
You rolled your eyes, scanning the pinned-up confessions absentmindedly. A few were cringeworthy, others were kind of cute—but then, your gaze landed on a small, folded note tucked into the corner of the board. Unlike the others, this one wasn’t pinned up properly, like someone had stuffed it there in a hurry.
Curious, you reached out and unfolded it.
The handwriting was neat but slightly rushed, like the writer had been nervous.
I miss you. - S
You frowned. "Huh."
Dani peered over your shoulder. "Ooooh. Mystery love letter?"
You shrugged, reading it over again. S. Who the hell was S?
"Think it’s for you?" Lara asked, raising a brow.
You snorted. "Doubt it."
"Well, let’s think," Dani said, tapping her chin. "S could be... Samantha, Sarah, Shane—"
"Or just some random person’s confession that got shoved in the wrong spot," you pointed out.
But even as you said it, you found yourself staring at the note a second longer than necessary.
"I miss you."
For some reason, the words sent a weird, unfamiliar flutter through your chest.
You shook your head, stuffing the note back where you found it. It was probably nothing.
Right?

The yard had grown quiet as the other workers moved further into the forest, leaving Logan to finish stacking the last of the wood alone. The sharp bite of winter hung in the air, his breath clouding in front of him with every exhale. The solitude was welcome—at least, that’s what he told himself.
But the silence didn’t stop the memories.
“You don’t owe me anything.”
Logan clenched his fists, the words circling in his mind like a relentless echo. He grabbed a log from the pile and slammed it onto the stump, the impact reverberating through his arms. The ax swung down, splitting the wood clean in two.
“I’m sorry for coming unannounced.”
He knew better than to hope for steady ground, better than to let himself believe he could hold onto something good. With Evelyn, it had felt different—like maybe, just maybe, he could carve out a life that didn’t feel like running or regret.
Now, it felt like a mistake.
The kiss he’d seen replayed over and over in his head, each time cutting deeper. It wasn’t just her ex he was angry at, though the smugness on the bastard’s face made Logan’s blood boil. No, most of the anger was for himself—for being stupid enough to think he could be enough for her.
The crunch of boots on gravel pulled him from his thoughts. Pete and Rick approached from the truck, their faces drawn with concern.
“You alright, Howlett?” Pete asked, his voice cautious but probing.
Logan didn’t look up, hefting another log onto the stump. “I’m fine.”
Pete and Rick exchanged a glance, the kind that said he’s definitely not fine.
“Look,” Pete began, leaning on the tailgate. “You don’t want to talk about it. But you’ve been going at this woodpile like it owes you money. Maybe take a second to breathe?”
“I don’t need a breather,” Logan said flatly, his tone daring them to push further.
Rick, quieter but no less perceptive, stepped up beside Pete. “You don’t have to talk,” he said after a pause, his voice measured. “But if you keep bottling it up, it’s gonna come out sideways.”
Logan didn’t respond, his focus locked on the ax as he brought it down with enough force to split the log cleanly.
Pete let out a low whistle. “Man, whatever’s eating at you must be big. I’ve never seen you like this before.”
Logan finally stopped, leaning on the ax handle and leveling Pete with a glare. “I said I’m fine.”
“Sure, sure,” Pete said, raising his hands in mock surrender. “But if you keep this up, there won’t be any wood left in the yard for the rest of us.”
Rick sighed, folding his arms across his chest. “Look, Logan. I don’t know what happened with Evelyn, but if she’s got you this twisted up, maybe she’s worth hearing out.”
Logan’s grip on the ax tightened, his jaw clenching as he stared at the ground. The truth in Rick’s words cut deeper than he cared to admit.
“Not my place to butt in,” Pete added, though his grin said otherwise. “But if you’re spending this much time stewing over it, she’s probably thinking about you, too.”
Logan shot them both a sharp look, then yanked the ax from the stump and turned toward the forest. “Leave it alone,” he muttered, stalking off into the trees without another word.
Pete waited until Logan was out of earshot before muttering, “Yeah, that went well.”
Rick shrugged, grabbing the thermos from the truck bed. “He’ll figure it out. He always does.”
During the course of the next couple of days the rhythm of the yard was the same, but Logan’s presence felt heavier. He worked harder than usual, his focus razor-sharp, but the tension in his frame was impossible to ignore.
Pete and Rick kept their distance this time, their occasional glances filled with concern.
By midday, Logan had thrown himself into another project, replacing a broken tool rack near the shed. His movements were precise, his jaw set in determination. But even as he worked, his mind wandered—back to the driveway, to Evelyn’s face when she saw him, and to the kiss that had shattered something inside him.
The guys noticed, but they didn’t say a word. Pete started a fire near the edge of the clearing, his usual jokes subdued. Rick passed by with a nod but left Logan to his thoughts.
By the time dusk fell, Logan was still at it, the hammer in his hand swinging with a force that bordered on reckless.
Tension seemed to follow him wherever he went, and his coworkers gave him a wide berth, exchanging knowing glances but keeping their distance.
The others gave him a wide berth, the tension in the yard thick enough to cut with a blade. Midday, the office phone rang, its shrill tone breaking the monotony of the worksite. Rick wiped his hands on a rag as he stepped inside to answer.
“Yeah, this is Rick,” he said, leaning against the desk.
“Hey, it’s Mary,” his wife’s voice came through the line, light but concerned. “Thought you’d want to know—I saw Evelyn back in town. She was at the general store this morning.”
Rick raised an eyebrow, glancing out the window toward Logan. “That right?”
“She looked... well, not great. Like she’s been through it. Thought Logan might want to know.”
Rick thanked her and hung up, stepping back outside with a purposeful stride. Pete caught his eye as he walked toward Logan, who was hunched over another stack of wood.
“What’s the news?” Pete asked.
Rick ignored him, stopping a few feet from Logan. “Hey, Howlett,” he called out, his tone even.
Logan didn’t look up. “What?”
Rick hesitated, then said, “Mary saw Evelyn in town this morning. Thought you’d want to know.”
Logan froze, his hands stilling on the axe handle. For a moment, it looked like he might respond, but then he shook his head and resumed working.
“Good for her,” he muttered, his voice flat.
Pete stepped forward, frustration evident in his expression. “Don’t be an idiot. You’re hurting, and so is she. Go talk to her.”
Logan’s grip on the axe tightened, his knuckles white. “I said I don’t care,” he snapped.
Pete sighed, throwing up his hands. “Alright, fine. Be stubborn. But don’t come crying to us when it’s too late.”
Rick shot Pete a warning look, but Logan didn’t seem to hear them anymore. He swung the axe down with a force that sent the wood flying, the conversation over.
When the day finally ended, Logan climbed into his truck, his body aching from the nonstop work. The drive home was quiet, the hum of the engine the only sound to fill the cab.
As he pulled onto the dirt road leading to his cottage, his headlights illuminated a familiar vehicle parked in his driveway. Logan’s chest tightened, his hands gripping the steering wheel as he slowed to a stop.
It was Evelyn’s truck.
For a long moment, he sat there, staring at it, his mind racing. A part of him wanted to get out, to see her, to hear whatever explanation she had to offer. But the memory of that kiss, of her ex standing so close to her, was a wound that hadn’t stopped bleeding.
With a sharp exhale, Logan put the truck in reverse and backed down the road.
He didn’t look back.
The next day Logan was halfway to the kitchen when he noticed the Polaroid resting on the mantle—the one Evelyn had taken of herself.
He stared at it for a long moment, his chest tightening as he reached out to pick it up. The sight of her smile—the carefree warmth in her eyes—brought a lump to his throat he couldn’t swallow.
A sudden knock at the door jolted him from his thoughts. He hesitated, his grip on the Polaroid tightening as he listened.
“I know you’re there, Logan,” Evelyn’s voice called softly from the other side. “Are you done running away from me? Please... let me explain.”
Logan’s jaw clenched, his gaze fixed on the photo in his hand. He didn’t move.
“Logan,” she tried again, her voice trembling. “I’m not leaving until you hear me out.”
Still, he didn’t answer.
The minutes stretched on, the silence heavy and suffocating. Eventually, Evelyn exhaled shakily, her voice breaking. “I’m sorry. For everything. For not stopping him, for not calling you first. I never wanted to hurt you. Please believe me.”
When the sound of her footsteps receded, Logan finally let out a breath he didn’t realize he’d been holding. He sat down heavily, the Polaroid still in his hand as the weight of the past few days pressed down on him like a boulder.
They didn’t speak for a week after Evelyn’s return. The silence between them was deafening, but neither seemed willing to bridge the gap.
The logging yard was alive with the rhythmic sound of axes striking wood, the hum of engines, and the occasional crack of a tree falling in the distance. Evelyn’s truck rolled into the gravel lot, its tires crunching softly against the frozen ground. Her heart pounded as she parked near the edge of the clearing, unsure if she had made the right decision by coming here.
As she stepped out, the cold air nipped at her cheeks, her breath visible in the chill. Her gaze scanned the bustling yard until it landed on two familiar figures standing near the truck bed—Rick and Pete. They noticed her almost instantly, exchanging a quick glance before Pete raised a hand in greeting.
“Miss Evelyn!” Pete called, his tone warm but tinged with curiosity. He closed the distance between them, wiping his hands on his flannel shirt. “Didn’t expect to see you here. Everything alright?”
She hesitated, shifting on her feet as Rick joined them, his expression more reserved but just as welcoming.
“Is Logan here?” she asked, her voice quieter than she intended.
Pete and Rick exchanged another look, this one heavier.
“He’s around,” Rick said carefully, his arms folding across his chest. “But this probably isn’t the place for whatever conversation you’re looking to have.”
Evelyn’s shoulders sagged slightly, the weight of the last few days catching up to her. “I’ve been trying to talk to him,” she admitted, her voice cracking. “I went to his cabin, but... he wouldn’t see me.”
Pete winced, rubbing the back of his neck. “He’s been... well, let’s just say he’s not exactly himself lately.”
“He’s hurt,” Rick added bluntly, his gaze steady on her. “You can see it in the way he’s working—pushing himself harder than he should. Whatever happened between you two, it’s eating him alive.”
Evelyn swallowed hard, her hands clenching into fists at her sides. “I didn’t mean for any of this to happen. I didn’t even—” She stopped, her breath hitching as she tried to gather her thoughts. “I never wanted to hurt him.”
Rick’s expression softened slightly, and he nodded. “I believe you. But he’s got his walls up right now. It’s going to take more than just words to get through to him.”
Pete stepped closer, resting a reassuring hand on her shoulder. “We’ll talk to him. Try to get him to see reason. But you’ve got to give him a little time, alright? Let us handle it.”
Evelyn nodded reluctantly, the knot in her stomach tightening. “I don’t want him to think I don’t care,” she said softly.
“He knows,” Pete assured her, his voice surprisingly gentle. “He’s just too damn stubborn to admit it right now.”
The drive back to the cottage felt longer than usual, the winter landscape passing by in a blur. Evelyn’s mind raced, replaying her conversation with Pete and Rick. Their words had given her a small measure of hope, but the weight of uncertainty hung heavy in her chest.
By the time she reached home, the familiar sight of the cozy cottage brought a semblance of comfort. She slipped inside, the warmth of the woodstove embracing her as she shed her coat and boots. Her gaze drifted to the basket of unfinished crochet pieces sitting by the couch.
With a deep breath, Evelyn settled herself down, picking up the half-finished sweater she had started weeks ago. Her hands moved methodically, the repetitive motion of the hook and yarn soothing her frayed nerves.
Hours turned into days, and the rhythm of her life resumed, though it felt emptier than before. She spent her mornings tending to small chores around the cottage, her afternoons lost in her crafts, and her evenings staring at the quiet phone, willing it to ring.
She wanted to give Logan space, to let him come to her when he was ready, but the silence was agonizing. The weight of waiting gnawed at her, and though she tried to keep herself busy, the ache of missing him lingered.

She wanted to give Logan space, to let him come to her when he was ready, but the silence was agonizing. The weight of waiting gnawed at her, and though she tried to keep herself busy, the ache of missing him lingered.
It wasn’t until a rainy evening, as Evelyn was driving home from a fair out of town, that their paths crossed again. Logan’s truck was idling at an intersection, his expression unreadable as their eyes met through the windshield. Without thinking, she pulled over, her tires skidding slightly in the mud. She threw her truck into park and jumped out, the cold rain immediately soaking through her coat as she ran toward him.
“Logan,” she called, her voice barely audible over the downpour.
Logan slammed on the brakes, his truck skidding slightly before halting. He stepped out, his gaze finally meeting hers, his eyes shadowed with a mix of anger and hurt. Rain plastered his hair to his forehead, drops clinging to his lashes as he looked at her.
“What the hell are you doing?” he growled, his voice low and sharp.
“I’m trying to fix this,” she said, her voice trembling. “I can’t stand how things are between us right now.”
Logan’s jaw tightened, and he looked away, his hands clenching at his sides. “Maybe things are better this way.”
“No,” she said firmly. “They’re not. I know you’re angry, and you have every right to be. I’m not letting you leave again. Not without hearing me out.”
“I’ve heard enough.”, he spits out.
Evelyn steps closer, her voice rising over the rain.“No, you haven’t! You think you know what happened, but you don’t! That kiss—it wasn’t me. I didn’t ask for it. I didn’t want it.”
Logan’s jaw tightens, his eyes narrowing.“Didn’t look like you were pulling away, either.”
“I froze! I didn’t know how to react. But the second I saw you, it was over. I didn’t care about him—I care about you.”, she said looking at him.
He let out a harsh breath, looking away. “Doesn’t matter. It doesn’t change what I saw.”
“No, it doesn’t,” she admitted, tears mixing with the rain. “But it doesn’t mean I didn’t care about how it would hurt you. I love you, Logan. Do you hear me? I love you. And I’m not letting you push me away because of one stupid mistake.”
Logan’s breath catches, his usual walls crumbling under the weight of her words. For a moment, he just stares at her, the rain streaming down his face, a flicker of something raw crossing his face. “Don’t say that,” he muttered. “Don’t say it if you don’t mean it.”
“I mean it,” she said, her voice breaking as tears mixed with the rain streaming down her face. “I love you, and I’m sorry for everything. For not stopping him, for not calling you first. I never wanted to hurt you, Logan. Please believe me.”
For a long moment, they stood there in the rain, the tension between them crackling like a live wire. Finally, Logan closed the distance, his hands cupping her face as he kissed her—desperate, hungry, and filled with all the emotions he’d kept bottled up.
When they finally broke apart, their foreheads resting together, Logan exhaled softly. “I love you tooI’ve been alone a long time,” he murmured. “I don’t know if I know how to do this... but I can’t lose you.”
Evelyn smiled through her tears, her hands still cradling his face. “You’re not going to lose me, Logan. We’ll figure it out together.”
The rain continued to pour around them, but in that moment, it felt like the storm had finally passed.
Logan’s eyes searched hers, and without another word, he leaned in again, capturing her lips in a kiss that was deeper, hotter, and filled with all the longing he had tried to suppress. His hands moved to her waist, pulling her closer until there was no space left between them.
Evelyn responded with equal fervor, her fingers threading through his rain-soaked hair, her lips parting to meet his urgency. The rain continued to pour around them, but neither seemed to care. Each kiss was hungrier than the last, the heat between them undeniable despite the cold storm.
Logan’s hands slid up her back, strong and steady, anchoring her as their kiss deepened. When she pressed against him, he let out a low, guttural sound, his restraint slipping. His lips left hers, trailing along her jaw and down her neck, his breath hot against her skin as her head tilted back, exposing more of her to him.
“Maybe we should—” Logan murmured against her neck, his voice rough and uneven.
“Get out of the rain?” she finished breathlessly, her chest rising and falling rapidly.
He pulled back just enough to meet her eyes, a faint smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth despite the tension crackling between them. “Yeah. Before we end up with pneumonia.”
They broke apart reluctantly, the air charged as they hurried to his truck. Once inside, the doors slammed shut, the rain pounding against the roof providing a steady rhythm to the silence that followed.
But the moment was far from over. As soon as the doors were locked, Logan reached for her again, pulling her onto his lap. Their lips collided once more, this time with an unrestrained passion that made her shiver. Her hands roamed over his chest, the damp flannel clinging to his broad frame as he held her tightly, his fingers gripping her hips as if he couldn’t bear to let her go.
Their movements grew more heated, her hips grinding down against him instinctively as their breathing quickened. Logan groaned, his head falling back against the seat as she moved again, the friction sending jolts of pleasure through both of them.
“Evelyn,” he rasped, his voice thick with desire. “If we don’t stop now…”
She paused, her forehead pressing to his as they both struggled to catch their breath. The weight of his words hung between them, but neither made a move to pull away.
“Then let’s go,” she whispered, her voice steady despite the flush rising to her cheeks.
Logan’s hands tightened on her waist, his amber eyes dark with emotion and something deeper. “You sure?”
She nodded, brushing her lips against his once more, softer this time but no less certain. “I’ve never been more sure.”
Without another word, Logan gently lifted her off his lap, his touch lingering as they adjusted themselves. He started the truck, his hand finding hers as they drove through the rain, the tension between them simmering and unresolved—but not for much longer.
The rain hadn’t let up by the time Logan pulled the truck into the clearing by his cabin. The headlights cut through the downpour, illuminating the weathered wood of the small structure nestled among the trees.
Logan killed the engine, turning to glance at Evelyn. Her cheeks were flushed, her damp hair sticking to her neck and temples, but she was staring at him with an intensity that sent a pang through his chest.
“Come on,” he muttered, stepping out of the truck. The cold rain hit him immediately, but he barely noticed as he rounded the vehicle to her side.
Evelyn climbed out, wrapping her arms around herself as the chill seeped through her already soaked clothes. Logan’s hand pressed gently against her back, guiding her toward the cabin. The touch was firm but protective, his warmth cutting through the cold.
Inside, the air was heavy with the scent of pine and faint smoke. Logan flicked on a single lamp, its amber glow softening the shadows in the small space.
“Go shower,” he said gruffly, already shrugging off his wet flannel and hanging it on a hook near the door. His voice softened as he added, “Don’t want you catching a cold.”
Evelyn hesitated, watching as he bent to stoke the fireplace. The orange flames roared to life under his practiced touch, casting flickering light over his broad shoulders and damp hair.
“What about you?” she asked quietly.
“I’ll dry off,” he replied without looking at her. “Go on. Bathroom’s down the hall.”
She lingered for a moment longer, the warmth of his care sinking into her even if his tone was brusque. Then she nodded and disappeared down the hall.
By the time she returned, the cabin was bathed in a cozy glow. Logan had shed his wet clothes, now dressed in a clean pair of jeans and white t-shirt. He was seated on the couch, his head resting against the back, eyes half-closed as he warmed himself by the fire.
Evelyn paused in the doorway, her heart stuttering at the sight of him. He looked so unguarded, so human, a stark contrast to the stormy, gruff exterior he so often wore.
She was wearing one of his shirts—soft and slightly oversized, the sleeves pushed up over her elbows. Her hair was still damp, and her cheeks held a faint blush.
Logan’s eyes opened as she stepped into the room, and they darkened when they landed on her. For a moment, neither of them spoke, the quiet between them carrying all the weight of what had happened that night.
She crossed the room and climbed onto his lap, straddling him without hesitation. Logan stiffened slightly, his hands instinctively resting on her thighs, but he didn’t pull away.
“Evelyn…” he began, his voice low, almost a warning.
“I just want to be close to you,” she whispered, her hands finding his shoulders. “Is that okay?”
Logan’s eyes softened, the tension in his body easing as he exhaled. “Yeah,” he murmured, his hands sliding up to rest on her waist.
She leaned forward, her forehead pressing gently to his. They sat like that for a moment, the crackling fire filling the silence. Logan’s hands moved to the small of her back, pulling her closer, and she sighed softly, her fingers trailing along the curve of his jaw.
“You don’t have to do anything,” he said, his voice rough but sincere.
“I know,” she replied, brushing her lips lightly against his. “But I want this. I want you.”
Logan’s breath hitched as her hands slid beneath his shirt, her fingers grazing his skin with the kind of deliberate, maddening slowness that made his muscles tighten. He caught her wrists, holding them still against his chest as his amber eyes locked onto hers, dark with a mixture of frustration and desire.
“Evelyn,” he rasped, his voice low, like gravel, as though her name alone was enough to unravel him. “Don’t push me unless you mean it.”
Her lips curved—not into a smile, but something softer, something steeped in the kind of certainty he wasn’t sure how to face. “I mean it,” she whispered, her words quiet but carrying the weight of all the times she hadn’t said them before.
Logan’s grip on her wrists loosened, his hands sliding up her arms and pulling her closer as if he couldn’t help himself. He lowered his head, his forehead pressing to hers, their breaths mingling in the stillness of the room. The only sounds were the crackle of the fire and the faint storm still raging outside.
“Do you know what you’re asking for?” he murmured, his voice raw, thick with the effort it took to hold himself back.
Her response was immediate, her fingers curling into his shoulders as she tugged him closer. “I’ve waited long enough,” she said, her voice steady despite the way her heart was racing. “Haven’t you?”
The question landed like a punch to his chest. Of course he had. Every glance, every touch, every moment she’d been close enough to feel but not touch—it had all been building to this, wearing him down piece by piece. And now, here she was, not just asking but demanding, her presence overwhelming in a way that left him powerless to resist.
“Damn it, Evelyn,” he growled, his voice barely a whisper as his hands slid to her waist, pulling her flush against him. His lips captured hers with a ferocity that surprised even him, the kiss deep and unrelenting, years of restraint and denial crumbling in an instant.
She responded in kind, her hands threading into his hair as if she couldn’t get him close enough. Her hips shifted instinctively against his, drawing a low groan from deep in his chest that sent a shiver racing through her.
When he pulled back, it was only far enough to press his forehead to hers, his breath ragged as his hands tightened on her waist. “If we keep going…” His voice was strained, his words a warning that came too late.
Her gaze locked onto his, unwavering. “Then we keep going,” she said simply, her voice soft but resolute. Her hands drifted down to the hem of his shirt, tugging it upward in one fluid motion.
Logan let her strip it away, his chest rising and falling heavily as he studied her. His hands hovered at her sides, hesitant, even now. “You sure?” he asked, the question a bare whisper, almost lost in the space between them.
Her answer was to close the gap, her lips brushing his with a gentleness that sent his control spiraling. “I’ve never been more sure,” she murmured, her voice steady even as her fingers traced the faint scars across his chest.
Logan groaned softly, his hands finally moving, sliding up her sides with a reverence that made her heart ache. When he kissed her again, it wasn’t hurried—it was slow, deliberate, as if he was trying to commit every second to memory.
Without a word, he shifted, lifting her effortlessly and carrying her the short distance to the bedroom. He set her down carefully, his hands lingering at her hips as he stood over her, his chest rising and falling with the effort of restraint.
Her hands reached for him again, pulling him down until he was hovering above her, the weight of him grounding her as much as it electrified her. His lips found hers, his kiss deepening as his hands explored her body with a mix of hunger and care.
When her hips rolled against him again, drawing another guttural sound from his throat, Logan pulled back just enough to meet her gaze. “If we’re doing this,” he said, his voice a growl softened by something deeper, “I’m not letting you go.”
Her lips curved, her fingers threading into his hair and tugging just enough to make him groan. “Good,” she whispered, her voice thick with emotion and desire. “Because I don’t want you to.”
Logan’s eyes locked onto hers, the raw heat in his gaze making her pulse race. He crushed his lips to hers, the kiss no longer gentle but searing, desperate, as though he couldn’t get enough of her.
Her hands gripped his shoulders, nails digging into his skin as he pressed her back into the bed. The weight of him was intoxicating, his strength overwhelming yet controlled, as if he were holding himself back by sheer will alone. She wasn’t having it. Her fingers slid down his chest, nails skimming the taut muscles before finding the button of his jeans. With a flick of her wrist, she popped it open, dragging the zipper down with deliberate slowness, savoring the sharp inhale he couldn’t suppress.
Logan growled against her mouth, his breath hot and uneven as he broke the kiss to bury his face in her neck. His teeth scraped against the sensitive skin, a teasing bite that made her gasp and arch into him.
Logan’s hands, large and rough, gripped the hem of her shirt and yanked it upward, pulling it over her head in one fluid motion. The garment fluttered to the floor, forgotten, as his eyes roamed over her, dark with hunger.
“You okay?” he asked, his voice a low, gravelly murmur, tempered with a tenderness that made her chest tighten.
Her cheeks burned, her nerves tangling with her desire. “I… I want to,” she whispered, her fingers gripping the edge of his waistband, but her voice trembled despite her conviction. “I just—”
Logan silenced her with a kiss, this one slower, deliberate, as if he were savoring her. When he pulled away, his thumb brushed over her cheek, his expression a mixture of hunger and restraint. “You don’t have to rush anything,” he said softly, his forehead pressing against hers.
Her heart thudded at his words, and she nodded, her fingers trailing up to his chest, where his heartbeat was steady and strong beneath her touch.
Logan’s lips curved into the faintest of smiles, his hands moving to her waist, steady and sure.
Her hands trembled as she reached for him, sliding over his chest and down to the waistband of his jeans. “I want to see you,” she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper.
Logan grinned, the expression almost feral, but there was a softness in his gaze as he stood to strip off his jeans and boxers in one smooth motion. When he returned to her, he moved slower, his body warm and solid as he pressed against her.
“Touch me,” he encouraged, his hand guiding hers to explore the ridges of his chest and the lines of his muscles. The heat in his voice was laced with reassurance, and the way he watched her, patient and unhurried, made her boldness grow.
Her fingers mapped his skin, her touch tentative at first, but when he groaned, low and deep, she felt a thrill she couldn’t ignore. “Like that,” he murmured, his hand sliding down her thigh to pull her closer, his touch igniting sparks along her skin.
She tentatively grabbed hold of his thick and veiny penis, wrapping her fingers around him. Logan inhaled sharply at her touch, his jaw tightening momentarily before his expression softened. He placed his hand gently over hers, guiding her movements with slow precision.
"Just like that," he murmured, his voice low and husky.
Evelyn’s blush deepened, but she didn’t pull away, her curiosity outweighing her hesitation. She watched his face, captivated by the way his brows furrowed slightly, his lips parting as she followed his lead. Her movements were clumsy at first, uncertain, but Logan’s patience never wavered.
"Good," he whispered, his voice laced with encouragement. "You're perfect."
The praise sent a shiver through her, and she felt a growing confidence in her actions. Logan leaned down, kissing her deeply, his hand sliding from hers to cup her cheek once more, anchoring her in the moment.
“Logan,” she breathed, her voice shaky but filled with trust.
"May I?" he asked, his fingers toying with the delicate fabric of her panties.
Evelyn nodded, her breath catching as he began to slide the garment down her legs. His eyes never left hers, even as he rid her of the last barrier between them. Once she was bare beneath him, Logan took a moment to simply look at her, his gaze reverent.
Logan let his hands smooth over her thighs slowly opening them up, her arousal glistening in the low light of the room.
“Don’t be scared”, he whispered as he lowered himself coming face to face with her sex. “You smell so good.”, he said, nuzzling the skin of her inner thigh.
Logan peppered kisses over her mound and inner thigh’s, whie his hand snaked up to grab hold of her right breast and gave it a good squeeze.
Logan gave a kiss to her clit eliciting a moan to erupt from deep within. He took that as a sign to keep going, the hand that was on her breast trailed down her belly and stopped when it came in contact with her pussy. His index and pointer finger lowered down to her glistening hole collecting her arousal and spreading it around. Evelyn gasped and his tongue ran a single long line across her slit to her bud, making her shiver at the foreigner feeling.
“Logan…” she moaned.
“Tell me what you want.” he answered, his breath fanning over her hole.
“More of that, please.”
He took her plea as an incentive to keep going. His tongue replaced his thumb, slowly circling her clit and occasionally dipping it to her hole.
Evelyn's legs closed instinctively around his head as her moans became incrinsingly louder.
“Feel good?” he asked rhetorically.
She nodded looking down at him and biting her lip.
His index finger started to circle her hole as his tongue remained focused on her clit, carefully dipping it in, until his hand came in full contact with her pussy.
Evelyn moaned at the intrusion but welcomed it. Logan started to slowly pump it in and out, creating a steady rhythm.
Evelyn started to moan softly, and at that Logan decided to add another finger.
“Oh God…”she moaned as his fingers pumped easily in and out of her.
Her hand clasped around his arm as he began opening her hole “Logan…”
He positioned himself above her, continuing to pump his fingers. He licked her lips and gently bit her bottom lip pulling it slowly.
Evelyn, taken over by the overwhelming feeling, grabbed hold of his arm.”Logan…”, she moaned.
Logan could feel her walls tightening around his fingers and incresead the spead, making sure to stimulate her clit with his thumb.
A loud moan erupted from Evelyn as she came hard.
Content with this work, Logan retrieved his fingers from her hole and, staring at her eyes, sucked his fingers clean.
“So good,” he said as he laid between her legs.
Evelyn blushed at his words and pulled him in for a kiss. Logan laid his hips over hers, allowing for his manhood to come in direct contact with her pussy. As the kiss grew hungrier, their hips started to move, creating friction, allowing for moans to erupt on both ends.
Logan, without breaking the kiss, pulled his hips back, allowing for him to line himself with Evelyn's entry. He began to slowly push in, feeling the resistance slowly ease.
Evelyn gasped in his mouth, as she felt him bottom out.
Logan rested his forehead on hers and intertwined their fingers above her head.
“How are you feeling?”he asked, looking for any sign of discomfort.
“Full,” she said breathlessly.
He shifted his hips slightly, giving her time to adjust, his hand caressing the curve of her waist to steady her. Evelyn gasped again, her legs instinctively wrapping around his hips as her body adjusted to the stretch and fullness.
“Let me know if it’s too much,” Logan said softly, his voice carrying both reassurance and patience.
“I just… I need a moment.”she replied breathlessly, her cheeks flushed.
Logan nodded, leaning down to kiss her forehead, his lips lingering there. He stayed still, allowing her to acclimate to the new sensation. His fingers remained intertwined with hers, their grip grounding her in the moment.
When Evelyn shifted her hips experimentally, a soft sigh escaping her lips, Logan took it as a sign to move. Slowly, he began to withdraw before easing back in, his movements controlled and deliberate. He watched her face closely, his sharp eyes scanning for any trace of discomfort, but all he found was awe and the growing haze of pleasure.
Evelyn’s breaths came in short gasps, her lips parting as she met his thrusts tentatively at first, then with increasing confidence. The connection between them deepened with every movement, the air heavy with shared vulnerability and trust.
“You’re doing so good,” Logan praised, his voice rough yet tender as he buried his face in the crook of her neck, his lips brushing her skin.
Her hands tightened around his, her head tilting back into the pillows as soft moans spilled from her lips. “Logan… oh, Logan…” she whispered, her voice carrying a mix of astonishment and need.
He groaned at the sound of his name on her lips, his pace quickening slightly as he felt her relax around him. Their bodies moved together, finding a rhythm that felt as natural as breathing. The heat between them built steadily, the tension mounting as every thrust brought them closer to the edge.
“You're so tight and wet- Fuck” he rasped, his voice thick as he pressed his forehead to hers once more.
Logan's hand left hers to brush a strand of damp hair from her face, his fingers lingering on her flushed cheek. “I got you baby,” he whispered, his tone reverent.
One of his hands made its way down, and Logan began circling her bundle of nerves.
“Yes! Oh, my God, yes!” Evelyn cried as her arms wrapped tightly around his shoulders for stability, as she felt herself overwhelmed by the intensity of the moment.
He smiled looking at her. “Look… Look at how good we fit together - shit” he moaned.
Evelyn looked down, and was amazed at the sight, his thick and veiny member covered in her slick going in and out of her, the motion creacting a creamy white ring at the base of his manhood.
“Logan,” she said moaned.
Logan speed up, the sound of slapping skin feeling the room.
“It's okay baby, let it happen.” He leaned down and kissed her with a bruising force.
Evelyn moans filled the room.
She looked deep in his eyes and took hold of his hair.
Oh
Oh
She tugged on his hair as she came hard around him, the bed beneath her shaking.
Logan growled as his tip bumped into her cervix, the extra lubrication helped him dive even deeper.
“Sh-it!” He cursed as he felt her walls contracting around him urging his release.
Logan moaned deeply as his penis throbbed, spilling his seed deep inside of Evelyn’s velvety walls.
The new sensation made her eyes roll to the back of her head. It was something so deeply intimate and messy.
Logan collapsed on top of her. They were still both breathless as he lifted his head and looked at her.
“You okay?” He asked breathlessly as placed a soft kiss on her lips.
Evelyn smiled against his mouth, her arms still wrapped loosely around his shoulders. “More than okay,” she murmured, her voice carrying a mix of awe and teasing.
He smiled gently, lifting himself off her, to pull out his member from her. He growled at the sight of their conjoined release coming out of her achy hole.
Logan laid beside her, his chest rising and falling in time with her soft breaths. Evelyn rested her head against him, her hand splayed over his heart as though it belonged there. The warmth of her body pressed into his, and he tightened his arm around her, pulling her impossibly closer.
Her eyes fluttered shut, her breathing evening out as sleep began to claim her. Logan let his fingers trail lightly along her back, his touch lingering, savoring the moment.
For a long while, he simply stayed there, listening to her breathe, feeling the steady rhythm of her heartbeat.
Eventually, his own eyes began to grow heavy, his mind and body at ease in a way he’d never thought possible. With Evelyn tucked safely against him, he let himself give in, falling into the pull of sleep.
Together, they drifted into a deep, dreamless slumber, tangled in each other’s arms, exactly where they were meant to be.
