hello ninjago fandom, it's me again!!! do you want to hear about some more traditional oni folklore?

you do? perfect.

today, i'll be telling you all some traditional ways that oni were warded off or weakened, straight from the original japanese mythology.

i'll start off with the one everyone knows: soybeans. During Setsubun, people will partake in the bean-throwing ritual, '豆撒き', or 'Mamemaki', to ward off oni and bring in luck for the new year. People will throw roasted soybeans, '福豆', or 'fukumame', meaning fortune beans, out the front door or at a family member wearing an oni mask, yelling '鬼は外! 福は内!' or 'Oni wa soto! Fuku wa uchi!', meaning 'oni out, luck in!', and slamming the front door after.

now onto the lesser known ones; sardines, holly, and shinto and buddhist religious practices.

the odor and smoke from roasted sardines are said to repulse oni, and they are also warded off by holly leaves, as they are reportedly frightened that the sharp ends in the holly leaves will poke their eyes out. as a result, on setsubun, it is customary to make a ward out of sardine heads and holly leaves, called a '柊鰯', or 'hiiragi iwashi', and display it at the entrance of your home.

finally, what appears to keep oni away is both shinto and buddhist practices, especially wards and cleansing rituals, such as the shinto harae and ofuda, and the buddhist sutras, talisman, wards.

who knew that the ninja didn't need to do the tornado of creation to defeat the oni, but just start making lunch? a roasted sardine sandwich with roasted soybeans on the side.

i can just imagine it being festival day (the ninjago equivalent of christmas), and someone deciding to hang up some holly, only to find garmadon covering his eyes and backing away very slowly, with lloyd clinging to his leg and wu hiding behind his hat

Starstruck [Ninjago x Male Reader]- The Rise of the Great Devourer

The Destiny's Bounty glided through dark clouds as thunder and lighting clashed and rain poured. Wu sat quietly, meditating with his eyes closed in front of burning sticks producing spirit smoke. The unique smoke produced an image of his students being surrounded and overwhelmed by Serpentine. The future-telling smoke shifted to an image of Sensei Wu facing off with Pythor as the Great Devourer rose to consume the old man with M/n reaching out to him. Wu opened his eyes dreadfully with a sudden gasp

The Smith siblings observed the glowing Fangblades laying on the table as the Lightning Ninja and M/n sat across from them. "Why is it that Torchfire Mountain is the only place we can destroy the Fangblades?" Nya wondered.

M/n replied, "The Fangblades are made from the original teeth of the Devourer," the dragon explained "They're so strong they can only break down in extraordinary heat."

Jay looked up from his sandwich and asked "Uh, could someone pass the salt?" Before anyone could grab the salt, wind tilted the Bounty which caused the salt shaker to slide into Jay's hand. "Hey, thanks," the excited brunette said with a wink to nobody.

The Master of Earth groggily opened the door and gripped it for stability. "Please. No one talk about food," the ship suddenly rocks and Cole swayed with it. "How much longer until we get there?" he groaned as M/n stood to help Cole with his nausea.

"Not long," the dragon comforts with a hand on the Earth Master's back, rubbing comforting circles.

"Hey, Cole, you're looking a little green over there. How'd you like a mucus salt sandwich?" the lightning menace aggravated Cole's air sickness. The poor Earth Ninja rushed to the side of the ship with M/n on his tail. The dragon rubbed his back as he heaved and retched over the edge of the Bounty. He stayed leaned over, panting and letting his stomach settle.

When he straightened out he came face to face with the concerned hybrid. "Are you alright, Cole?" M/n gently grabbed his large, rough hands. The Master of Earth nodded hesitantly, knowing he would probably be sick again from the storm rocking the Bounty. "May I try something?" M/n asked, having an idea to relieve the Pacific Islander's nausea. Cole only nodded again. M/n's hand, decorated in gold jewelry, glowed a [color] light emitting healing which he placed near the ravenette's forehead. Cole felt a wave of relaxation wash over him which reached his belly and relieved the shakiness and nausea.

"Woah," the Earth Ninja breathed, feeling significantly better. "Better?" M/n asked with a gentle smile as he pulled his hand away. Now no longer feeling sick Cole admired the dragon's face which was painted with care for him. His stomach fluttered but not a bad flutter, instead an excited, flustered feeling. "Thanks," Cole smiled back absentmindedly.

Once they arrived at Torchfire Mountain, Nya stopped the Bounty above the boiling lava. "Will everyone please place their seat back and tray table in the full upright and locked position? We have reached our destination: Torchfire Mountain. Give it a minute while we settle into position," she announced in a lighthearted tone as she lowered the anchor onto the volcano.

All of the ninja walked out, each having a Fangblade in hand, onto the deck where they saw M/n and Sensei Wu looking into the volcano. "It's roasting out here!" Jay whined, wiping sweat from his brow. "If you can't stand the heat, get the hell out the kitchen," Kai quipped. Jay was going to retort but he noticed his teacher standing solemnly, "Hey, what's with Sensei?" Zane replied, "I do not know. He's been distant all morning."

"Ah, it is beautiful, is it not?" Wu asked no one in particular. "Of course, Sensei," M/n replied with a smile, hoping to cheer up the old man who only gave a small smile back.

"Sensei, we are ready for the destruction of the Fangblades, yet you seem disinterested," Zane observed monotonously.

"You do not need my approval to finish the task," Wu replied almost harshly which surprised the ninja and M/n.

"Uh, but Sensei—" Jay tried.

Master Wu interrupted, "Butts are for sitting. And besides, there will come a time when you will have to go on without me."

M/n heart leapt out of his chest hearing these words, "W-what are you saying, Sensei?.." but Wu did not answer nor look at the dragon whose eyes filled with tears, a rare sight.

"Sensei, you're talking crazy. You've been alive for, like, forever," Kai laughed nervously as Cole jabbed the Fire Ninja in the side as his comment.

"What he is trying to say is that you are like the sunrise. We cannot begin a day without you," Zane clarified.

"Ah, but even the sun must go down so a new day begins," Sensei Wu spoke vaguely. The ninjas glanced with slight concern to the dragon who was no longer speaking and had his head down, trying to contain his tears at the thought of losing his only parental figure.

"I don't like metaphors. What are you trying to say? Are you leaving us again?" Cole tried to clear up what his teacher was saying.

Wu took a deep breath before explaining, "In meditation, my smoke visions have come to an end, and tomorrow, I cannot see. This worries me."

Jay tried to be optimistic, "But it could be a good omen, you know. We destroy the Fangblades, then everything's gravy."

"Let's just get rid of them, for good," the old man encouraged as M/n finally wiped his tears and looked up, letting out a deep breath.

A plank was set out over the volcano and Kai used his foot to hesitantly test the stability of it. Suddenly the engines began to give out, one more than the other which caused the ship to begin to tilt. Everyone who was standing on the deck was now sliding down towards the molten lava. The ninja caught themselves on the rail while Wu got thrown off of the plank but M/n was close behind and grabbed his master's hand. He dug his dragon claws into the wood as they both hung on for dear life.

"Sensei! M/n! Hang on! We're coming," Cole yelled as he dropped the Fangblade and made his way toward the duo while the rest of the ninja followed suit. The flimsy wood board began to crack from the damage from the dragon's claws. When the plank broke, letting Wu and M/n fall, Cole quickly grabbed the hybrid and the rest of the ninja supported the Earth Ninja as he held their dangling comrades. "Unh! You're not going anywhere!" Cole reassured.

"Thank you," Wu said to his students, who just saved his ass. His students all groaned from the immense pressure in their shoulders.

"Argh! Nya, what's going on?!" Kai cried out, being the anchor of the chain.

Nya replied from the intercoms, "Ah! Someone or something has overridden the system."

Lloyd's voice called out through the ship, "Pythor's on board!"

The ninja whipped their heads around to see the purple Anacondrai. "Sorry if I don't lend a hand, but I'm really in a rush. Got this whole Devourer thing going on," the Serpentine had gathered all the discarded Fangbaldes and was ready to leave the Bounty, "Toodaloo." When Pythor turned around he came face-to-face with the child he had once betrayed.

"Where do you think you're going?" the blonde boy said with faux confidence, Bo staff in hand.

The Anacondrai scoffed, "Ah. A little cliché, don't you think?"

Lloyd's façade immediately crumbled "Uh, cliché?"

"I wouldn't expect a child to understand," the snake taunted.

"Hey, I've grown up a lot," Lloyd objected as he pulled his mask down onto his face and jumped to attack.

Pythor continued to taunt the boy as he dodged his attack, "Hm, puny strength, no fundamentals, sloppy footwork. You think you can defeat me?"

Lloyd gave a smirk, "I'm not trying to defeat you. I'm just trying to keep you busy until the cavalry arrives." Nya's Samurai mech landed with a loud thud behind Pythor. The heavy footsteps approached the Anacondrai as he held the Fangblades close to his chest. The Green Ninja landed a flying kick to the Serpentine's face and cheered, "Haha, I hit him. I hit him, guys!"

The Samurai X mech chased Pythor as he slithered between its legs and dodged Nya's attempts to catch him. "Oh, as much as I would like to play with your overgrown toys, I have a ride to catch," the purple Serpentine slithered off the rail of the bounty and landed onto a helicopter piloted by other Serpentine, "So long, suckers!"

"Don't let go!" Jay begged as the ninja began slipping off the plank.

"You think I don't know that?!" Kai shot back with a strained groan. Just as the Fire Ninja thought he might fall off of the ship a large metal hand hoisted the group back onto the Bounty's deck. "Gotcha!" Nya reassured from the pilot seat in the Samurai mech.

"I don't think I've ever been more glad to see you," Jay smiled up at her as he regained his footing.

"Feel the same," she quickly replied, "Come on, he's getting away!"

"Look, there!" the Lightning Ninja pointed to Pythor's transportation which landed near a tourist bus. "They're switching vehicles and they abandoned those tourists," M/n observed as they watched the Serpentine hijack the bus.

Wu boarded the passenger seat on the Samurai mech, "If Pythor returns the Fangblades to the City of Ouroboros, he'll awaken the Great Devourer."

"Well, we're not gonna let that happen," Nya encouraged.

Lloyd brought the Golden Weapons out to the ninjas, along with M/n's bow, "Oh, what about me?" he asked.

"We need someone to stay with the Bounty," Kai replied.

"But did you see me kick him in the face? I'm an asset. I kick butt. And face."

"Lloyd, you're incredibly important and we can't afford for anything to happen to you. Plus you can be our eyes in the sky," M/n placed his hand on Lloyd's head, reassuringly. Disappointment flashed across his face but the more he thought about it, the more "eyes in the sky" sounded awesome.

"What do you say we play a little catch-up?" Jay smirked as he grabbed his weapon.

Cole snatched his scythe, "It's my favorite game!" he cheered.

When all the ninja acquired their weapon they yelled "Ninja, go!" and used Spinjitzu. They cheered as they dove off the edge and summoned their vehicles, Zane going last to grab M/n and let him ride on the Ice Ninja's motorcycle-like vehicle. The ninja whooped and howled as they sped down the side of the volcano. Zane felt slightly giddy from the dragon's arms snaked around his waist.

"I've got him in my sights," Jay informed from his jet.

All of the ninja trailed behind the long bus which was now transforming into a snake-like vehicle. "What is that? A truck?" Kai asked, referring to the strange appearance of the ex-bus.

"That is no truck. It is a moving fortress," Wu answered.

The Master of Earth sped ahead only to be attacked by the tail of the snake-bus. "Watch out! How are we supposed to get close to that thing?" Kai asked, frustrated. Two sets of guns with a Serpentine manning them ejected from each side which began shooting at Jay and Nya.

Similarly designed motorcycles driven by snakes landed on top of the bus and jumped down, landing near Kai. "Bring it on," he growled as the Serpentine pulled up on either side of him. He stabbed one of the wheels which caused the motorcycle to crash. Taking advantage of Kai's distraction, the other Serpentine hopped from his vehicle to the Fire Ninja's motorcycle. The snake began to attack Kai as he tried to keep control of his motorcycle. An arrow flew by, hitting the attacker and knocking them off. "Thanks, M/n!" the Master of Fire called as the dragon gave a smile in return.

Two more snake motorcycles were released out of the side of the large snake-designed vehicle. "We've got company," Nya called. "Sensei!" she exclaimed when he didn't respond because he was drinking tea.

"Huh? Let me see," Wu put his teapot away and grabbed the weapon controls. He threw a spinning blade which annihilated both enemies. "Oh, this is fun," he giggled childishly.

More snakes jumped onto Cole's car which he launched off of his vehicle. "If we have any chance at getting on that truck, we need to work together," the Master of Earth suggested.

"I've got an idea. Jay, follow me. Zane, try to get in close and cool him off," Nya instructed as she flew closer to the bus.

"Okay, I'm going in," Zane announced. M/n hopped off of the ice motorcycle first to throw two Serpentine off and held his hand out for the Nindroid to leap onto the back of the bus. The Ice Ninja retracted his vehicle and used his shurikens to freeze the connector of the last car. With a gentle push the back end of the bus fell off, taking the snakes manning the guns with it. "Goodbye," Zane taunted the train car.

"All right. Nice one, Zane. Now let's board that truck," Jay cheered.

The remaining ninja sped ahead and returned their vehicles to their weapon forms as they boarded the bus next to Zane and M/n. "Let's split up," Kai announced as he put his sword away, "Last one to the front is a rotten ninja." Everyone sprinted towards the front of the snake-bus. Jay was the first to break off and use Spinjitzu to enter the vehicle, then Cole and Zane broke off as well. Kai and M/n braced for attack as two Serpentine emerged from the train. One of the snakes didn't anticipate the wind and got blown away, the other managed to land a hit on the Fire Ninja. Kai lost his balance and the force of the train moving threw him onto the side, holding onto the vehicle.

As the Master of Fire clung to the side of the snake-bus, Zane looked out the window to see him struggle. When the Nindriod quirked a brow Kai yelled "What? You try fighting up here. Huh?" Suddenly someone grabbed his hands, he looked up to see M/n dragging him back onto the roof. Once they regained their balance they faced the next wave of Serpentine enemies.

"Mind if I interrupt?" Nya asked as she landed in front of her brother and M/n, swatting the snakes away. A Serpentine leapt at Sensei Wu but paused when the old man said "Hmm, hold this, please," and offered the snake a cup. "Oh, yeah," he held the cup as Wu poured him tea, "Thanks." The old man punched the Serpentine away, catching his tea before it could spill.

A quick-approaching sign caught M/n's attention. "Watch out for the sign!" he warned as he leaned down.

"Duck! Duck! Duck!" Wu commanded frantically.

"I'm trying. I can't," Nya worried, her voice getting cut off as the mech got taken by the sign.

The two remaining Serpentine laughed, giving M/n and Kai the opportunity to throw the snakes off the bus.

Nya quickly recovered from the sign incident and used the thrusters to put Samurai X back on top of the bus. Using her strong metal limb she ripped open the roof of another bus compartment from which an explosion had echoed earlier. M/n hopped from the roof to join Cole and Nya helped Master Wu down into the bus to join his students.

"Cole. Good to see you," Wu smiled as he dismounted the Samurai X hand.

The Master of Earth turned to his teacher, "Good to see you too."

Jay and Zane approached from the previous train car. The snake-bus began to shake and swerve due to the overheating engine. Cole thanked M/n internally because normally this would've made him sick, but thanks to the dragon his weak stomach didn't affect him greatly. Kai, who was still perched on the bus roof, was shaken off and fell into the Nindroid's arms. Kai's face grew red not only from embarrassment but from Zane's soft, innocent face.

"Are you alright?" the Ice Ninja asked and the companion in their arms nodded as they set Kai back on his feet.

The fiery brunette looked through the window into the front of the snake-bus. "One more car to go. Pythor's in there with the four Fangblades," he announced, "Who's first?"

Wu swiftly passed Kai and appeared in the final car of the vehicle. He used the end of his staff to press the button which detached all the cars behind. M/n leapt across the growing chasm using his claws to land near Wu. The old man could see determination, anger, and sadness in the dragon's eyes. "Stop trying to disappear on me," the hybrid spat, bearing his canines in betrayal.

"Sensei!" Jay called out.

"What are you doing?!" Cole asked, feeling the same betrayal M/n felt.

"My destiny is to face Pythor without the ninja. Your destiny is to look after Lloyd," the old man answered as he turned to enter the car with M/n at his heels.

"This is turning into a habit with him," the Master of Fire complained, "How do we get off this thing?"

Jay scoffed "Why does M/n get to go?! He's like Sensei's damn dog." Cole smacked him upside the head for making a rude comment about M/n which made the Lightning Ninja yelp.

"This ends now!" Wu announced he stepped through the door and readied his staff to attack. Similarly M/n's claws were begging to sink into the Anacondrai's scaly flesh.

Pythor slithered towards the duo "So be it."

Wu used his bamboo pole to block hits from the snake's staff. "Ninja, go!" the old man yelled as he performed Spinjitzu which emitted a golden glow. The first attacks were rendered useless but Pythor's last attack managed to hit Wu in the back of the head, disorienting him. The snake used his staff to put Sensei Wu in a headlock and choke him, "You're getting slow, old man," he taunted.

M/n grabbed the snake by his trachea and whipped his long body toward the front of the train. "Don't touch Sensei, fucking snake," he growled, baring his sharp teeth.

The speeding, flaming vehicle began to tip on its side, throwing its passengers around. When the snake-bus, or what was left of it, crashed Pythor immediately climbed out and made his way to the Lost City of Ouroboros.

M/n opened his eyes to a throbbing headache. He saw his teacher passed out in front of him. "Sensei," he shook the old man desperately, "Wake up, Sensei.." Wu finally opened his eyes to his student who had a gash on his cheek and a bruise under his eye.

"M/n," he breathed. His student was always so caring, sometimes he didn't think of how his actions would hurt his feelings but even when the dragon felt betrayed, he treated his teacher kindly. M/n smiled as he helped Wu onto his feet. They made their way outside but panic ensued when they noticed the green mist emanating from the Lost City of Ouroboros. Pythor had already united the Fangblade in the abandoned city. The Great Devourer was being awakened.

The duo found the Anacondrai at the source of the green mist. "What have you done!?" Wu yelled angrily.

"Don't you see? Releasing the Great Devourer is the only way to get back at the people of Ninjago for locking my kind underground for all those years. We should have been the ones ruling the surface, not you!" the purple snake monologued.

"You are playing with a power that cannot be controlled. It will consume everything, even the Serpentine," Wu warned.

The snake statue which was spewing green liquid began to collapse. Pythor smiled "Unleash, Great Devourer, and be free to do my bidding, for I have awakened you!"

The ground rumbled and the rock floor began caving in. The stones that once resembled a snake were now in a pile on the ground. The Anacondrai looked around nervously "No, no. It isn't inside the statue? Then where is it?" When he looked down into the hole in the ground he made eye contact with the Great Devourer. "Aah! It's so big!" Pythor exclaimed as he tried to slither away.

"Stay here! Watch the consequences of your actions," M/n demanded as he plunged one of his arrows through the Serpentine's tail and into the dirt, forbidding him from leaving.

The ninja and Nya arrived and saw the giant, glowing eyes in the underground pit. "What's going on? Who's that creature underground?" Kai exclaimed, being the voice for all the ninja.

"You must do everything in your power to stop the Great Devourer. Go, ninja! Go!" Wu commanded as he and M/n restrained Pythor. Cole and Zane looked worriedly at the dragon they had grown quite fond of. "M/n?.." Cole whispered to himself. Seeing his teammates' worry M/n gave a reassuring smile.

Suddenly the Great Devourer burst forth from the ground, a powerful force of destruction. The snake towered like a skyscraper with swampy green scales. It let out a booming roar as it lunged at Wu and Pythor. M/n gave his teacher a look and the old man nodded. The dragon trusted his judgment and stepped away from the Anacondrai and Wu.

And once again, I couldn't get anything from this universe, but I think I managed to fit some things in well enough to make the story cool, even though I don't have much affinity or knowledge about the world of Ninjago.

The sky was gray from the rising smoke, the acrid smell of fire spreading, the roar of battle cutting through any sense of peace the day might have brought.

In a flash, a beam of golden energy cut across the horizon, tearing through the battlefield. An explosion rose in the distance, reverberating like thunder. The screams of combatants echoed, yet the enemy’s advance was imminent, the rounded robots continued toppling the forces that tried to defend their city.

In the middle of the battle, three figures ran, protected by warriors fighting off the robots. The man jumped over some rubble, holding his daughter tightly in his arms, wrapped in adorned red cloths. He panted, reaching a hand toward his wife, who was gripping the hand of their eldest son firmly, pulling him along to keep up.

What mattered now was no longer to fight. The battle was lost with those powerful robots. What he had left was to hold onto his family and look for a safe place to regroup — fighting would be pointless now.

“Hold on, we’ll be out of the city soon. You’re going to be safe,” the man shouted, turning his back to act as a shield against the flying debris from another robot-caused explosion.

Grunting in pain, he stood back up and resumed running.

Suddenly, the man was grabbed by the neck and slammed against a nearby wall. The blue robot with red eyes analyzed him, its gaze focusing on the child in his arms.

“Garmadon!” the woman shouted, placing the boy behind her for protection.

“Misako… Run… Take [Y/N] and Lloyd and get out of here. I can handle this…” he said, panting, as the pressure on his neck increased.

The woman hesitated, but in a burst of courage, she darted under the robot, grabbing the daughter from her husband's arms, holding her close, still pulling the boy by the hand. She ran, but in a swift motion, the robot hurled the man to the ground and quickly launched itself toward the woman, grabbing the collar of her shirt, still focusing on the child.

“Let me go!” She tried to elbow the robot, but it easily dodged and, in a blink, was in front of her, snatching the child from her arms.

Misako fell to the ground, eyes wide as she saw her daughter in the enemy’s arms. The boy clutched her hand tightly on the ground.

Suddenly, in a black blur, Garmadon was in front of the robot, a black katana in his hands.

“Give me back my daughter. Right now. Or suffer the consequences…” he threatened, but the blue robot remained unfazed, using small thrusters to hover in the air, still holding the child wrapped in cloths.

With a growl of rage, Garmadon stepped forward, striking the robot and aiming for its head. However, the robot raised its hand, and with a metallic clang, the blade was blocked.

“But how…” Garmadon said in shock, regaining composure and holding his attack stance.

He huffed, preparing to run again, when suddenly, behind the robot, a yellow light appeared in the air, seeming to cut through space itself. A diagonal rift began to open and expand.

Inside the rift, a man was seated on a somewhat technological chair, tapping his fingers impatiently on the armrest, which was filled with colorful buttons. When his eyes, hidden behind lenses, focused on what lay beyond the rift, he grinned broadly, his mustache twitching as his smile grew.

“Well, well…” He leaned forward, intrigued by the scene. “Good job, Metal, you found exactly what I needed... Initiate Eggpaw retreat order from the new dimension... Return to base...” he said after pressing a button. The blue robot nodded, beginning to back away.

Suddenly, a hand grabbed the robot’s foot, holding it tightly. The robot let out a hiss and looked down.

Eggman looked at the rift curiously.

“What’s the problem?” Then he stood up, finally seeing what was on the ground. “Well, well… what a happy family… You wouldn’t happen to be the so-called Emperor of this city, would you? Now I’m sure my plan is perfect. That child will be very powerful…” He crossed his arms.

“I won’t let you take my daughter!” Garmadon clung tighter to the robot’s foot in a desperate attempt. But Metal simply jerked his metallic leg, throwing Garmadon to the ground again. His sword slipped from his hand, being flung far away as well.

The blue robot hissed again as it continued to back into the rift, which promptly closed, leaving behind only the evil laughter of the man who had just stolen their daughter.

At the portal’s location, only sparks remained, slowly fading. Garmadon knelt on the ground and punched the earth with force, sending up a cloud of dust. He clenched his teeth. Behind him, his green-eyed, blonde-haired son clung to his mother, both crying uncontrollably, still trying to process the loss of the little one.

In the distance, the rounded robots began retreating in formation, passing through similar portals. They were still attacked by warriors, but easily deflected the blades as they continued their path out of the dimension.

The man clenched his fists.

“I’ll find you someday…” he promised only to himself, remaining silent, wondering what the next steps in life would be without his little daughter by his side.

The sun shone brightly above the trees. The day was pleasant in Mobius, filled with the cheerful singing of birds and laughter in a nearby forest.

In the middle of a clearing, you stood in your combat stance, your fluffy tail with its thick fur positioned in front of you like a shield, a wide smile on your face.

Suddenly, some bushes rustled beside you, revealing a ball of blue quills that shot toward you. With a grunt and a swift movement, your tail absorbed the blow, softening the spin dash attack.

Stopping his attack, Sonic stood before you, smiling.

“You’re getting good at this...” He approached, walking around you. You just chuckled softly, placing a hand on your hip, watching his green eyes scan you.

“I learned from the best... I think I’ll make a great support for you in battle.” You turned in his direction.

“Support? Babe, you’ve got the potential to wipe out an entire frontline with your growing strength.” He stepped toward you, placing his hand on your cheek.

“Oh yeah? Then Eggman better watch out for me... and you too.” You placed your hand over his.

“Me too? Oof, and here I thought I’d be in the clear.” He laughed, leaning in to kiss your forehead gently before stepping back a bit. “Let’s head back, I’m getting hungry.”

Nodding, you began to follow him, keeping pace as he slowed down so you wouldn’t fall behind.

“So, any good memories yet?” he asked quietly, not wanting to pressure you into answering something that had already caused so much pain.

“Nothing yet... It’s like my childhood never existed, you know?” You looked down, sighing. “...Well, maybe it really didn’t. Sally told me they found me in a huge tube in a lab. Who knows if I wasn’t made just like some stupid robot.” You scratched your neck, feeling extremely uncomfortable with the thought.

“Hey, don’t say that. You weren’t made in a lab — we’ve run all the tests. You’re a completely normal Mobian... Even though your DNA is quite different, nothing indicates you were bioengineered like Shadow.” He wrapped an arm around your shoulder, pulling you close.

“Yeah... maybe you’re right.” You allowed yourself to lean into him, letting his warmth comfort you. “Someday I want to find my real family...” You looked at him with determination. “Of course, you’ll come with me and all. I need to introduce my future husband.” You laughed.

“I’m flattered, little fox.” He stroked the white fur on your back. “I’d love to meet your family, whoever they may be.”

Walking calmly, the two of you started making your way back to base.

In the peaceful silence of the night, you both lay on the grass, close to each other, simply watching the stars and the moonlight in the sky.

“You know...” you began. “Whenever I lie down on the grass, I smell something... this nighttime smell... For some reason, it reminds me of home...”

Sonic turned slightly to look at you.

“You think it could help you remember home?” he asked, already resting his hand on your fluffy ears to pet you.

“Maybe... It’s like my memory is a drawn bowstring, ready to shoot, but the archer never lets go of the arrow.” You placed your hands on your face, rubbing your eyes, trying to help even a little. “The memory of the past is right there, but it never comes to me...”

You felt a pair of arms wrap around your waist.

“Hey, take it easy... We’ll figure it out, okay? Be patient — I’m always here to help you too...” He smiled sweetly at you, making you smile a little.

But you didn’t have time to respond — your and Sonic’s communicators crackled, catching your attention. You both promptly sat up on the grass.

“Sonic... [Y/N], are you there?” Tails’ voice sounded.

“Copy that, Tails, go ahead...” you answered through the communicator on your wrist.

“Giant Eggman robots are showing up in Mobotropolis region! We need both of you urgently...”

"Understood, on my way!" you answered, looking at Sonic with determination. He nodded, and you turned off the communicator, getting up with him.

"Give me a super-speed lift?" you asked with a small grin.

"I’d never say no to you." He winked, picking you up bridal-style and dashing off in the blink of an eye.

Eager eyes watched the bizarre event unfolding before them. The ninjas took a step back, unsure whether attacking was a wise idea.

"Lloyd, the scanners are detecting distortions..." a silver-haired ninja said seriously. "It looks like..."

"The spatial distortion that led to that invasion of weird robots... Not even our technology could fight them..." Lloyd said with arms crossed, staring impassively at the yellowish rift beginning to open again before them.

"What do we do?" a red-clothed ninja with brown hair asked.

"We just observe. We don’t know what’s going to come out of there, Kai..." Lloyd said quietly, adjusting his green outfit. The other two nodded, returning their attention to the opening distortion.

When the portal finished opening, the place it revealed seemed like a normal field, but in the distance was a massive structure. The word "Eggman" was plastered on it, along with the villain’s image, featuring his characteristic grin and large mustache.

The beige-haired ninja narrowed his eyes as he observed.

"I’d recognize that beard and goofy smile anywhere..." he said, stepping forward. "From my childhood... That guy took my sister away from my family!" he said louder, starting to recall the traumatic memory of that laugh as the blue robot entered through that same rift.

"This gate is being unintentionally powered... Which means it wasn’t properly shut, so it reopened on its own, just drawing energy from something nearby." the white-clothed ninja stated.

"Then we need to take advantage, Zane. We don’t know when it’ll open again..." Lloyd stepped forward, determined.

"Are you sure? We don’t know what we’ll find there..." Kai said softly.

"...I have to know what happened to my sister... If that guy took her, I need to interrogate him, find out if she’s still alive."

"Hey, look at that field... There’s a bunch of... creatures? And they’re fighting robots?" Zane scratched his chin, confused by the scene visible through the rift.

"This is our chance—they're distracted by the battle, let’s go!" Without a second thought, Lloyd dove into the portal. Kai shrugged and jumped in as well, Zane sighed and, having no choice, leapt after the two of them.

An explosion sent robots flying everywhere. From the smoke, you leapt, your fists still pulsing with yellow energy, your tail swaying in the wind. At your side, in a blink, Sonic appeared.

"Nice job, babe." He winked at you.

"Same to you..." you smiled at him but then turned toward the lab at the top of the hill. "But... why did Eggman choose right now to unleash this legion exactly on the lab where they found me..."

"Yeah, this place was supposedly abandoned. I don’t know why he decided to start guarding it again..." Sonic said quietly, crossing his arms.

"There’s something behind this... We have to find out." Your eyes turned to the battlefield, where the other members of the Freedom Fighters were fighting nonstop against robots.

"You want to head there?" Sonic asked, already bending down to stretch.

"...We’ve already taken out the worst badniks, the others can handle the rest. Let’s go to the lab..." you said, looking at him with hope.

"On it, princess..." He immediately picked you up in his arms and was getting ready to dash off when a voice suddenly called out.

"Sonic, [Y/N], wait." Sally called, striking a robot and running toward them. "We need you... [Y/N], I need you to go to that observation tower..." she pointed to the nearby tower. "We have to disable the lab’s defenses. Sonic, take her there and come back."

Sonic opened his mouth to say something, but Sally cut him off, stopping him from refusing to leave you alone.

"We need you, she’ll be fine—there are no badniks there. She’ll catch up later. We need to break into the lab first and check what’s inside..."

You nodded slowly. Sonic just sighed and nodded once. Then, in a blink, he took off toward the tower with you in his arms, leaving only a blue streak behind.

Near some rubble, the three ninjas watched curiously.

"I’ve never seen creatures like that..." Kai said softly, creeping a little closer through the debris.

"Kai, stop right there—we shouldn’t get involved..." Zane warned.

"That fox..." Lloyd whispered to himself, catching the attention of the other two.

"What’s up with the arctic fox?" Zane looked at him, curious about his sudden interest.

"I don’t know... It’s like something in my soul pulsed the moment I saw her... A pain too ancient... But I don’t know why..." He looked at his own hand, beginning to breathe heavily. He could feel the soft touch on his hand, the squeeze of a little hand, and he could swear he heard a child’s giggle. But then he just shook his head, not wanting to let his mind play tricks on him.

"Lloyd?" Kai called.

"I’m fine... Come on, we need to investigate that lab. We don’t know what the crazy scientist is up to in there." Lloyd began leaping through the rubble, leaving the hiding spot, running through the forest shadows surrounding the area, quickly followed by the other two—who had more questions than answers.

You climbed the last step of the tower, taking a deep breath. You looked down, watching the Freedom Fighters advance up the hill, reaching the lab’s front entrance. Sonic was already among them.

"Alright, this is easy..." you clapped your hands, rubbing them together. The yellow energy reappeared, releasing sparks in every direction. Then you placed your hands on the control panel in front of you, electrocuting the system.

With crackling and sparks, the panel began to catch fire. Your eyes focused on the lab entrance, watching your allies rush inside without wasting time. Sighing again, you turned, ready to face the stairs down once more.

Sonic followed Sally through the corridors, walking beside her, doing Spin Dashes on any badniks that appeared along the way.

They stopped in front of a door. Sally placed a device on the heavy door, typed in some numbers, and the door opened promptly.

"Why did you even want me to come with you? I could’ve gone through the vents alone to save time..." the hedgehog asked, annoyed for being forced to leave you behind.

"I’m going straight to the lab’s core. We need to see what Eggman’s up to. Tails said his sensors picked up a spatial distortion right here. We need to find its source and destroy it. The others are just support..." She jumped over some debris. Sonic did the same, frowning.

Then they turned a corner, reaching the lab’s research center—a large space full of capsules, the same place where they had found you long ago.

But this time, both were surprised. Also in the room, three ninjas stood in defensive stances, looking at the two Mobians.

"Humans?" Sonic asked, confused.

"Who are you, you evolved mammals?" Kai asked, stepping forward, holding his blade tightly.

"I’m Princess Sally, and this is the hero of Mobius, Sonic..." she said quickly.

"Sonic and Sally, huh? We’re not your enemies. We saw you fighting the robots. We’re here because of that crazy scientist living here..." Lloyd promptly said.

"Oh, you must be talking about Dr. Eggman. He’s a real pain." Sonic said, shaking his head. The green-clad ninja nodded.

"Indeed... But he committed a terrible crime... He kidnapped my sister when she was just a little girl, and now I’m here to interrogate him and find out where she is..." Lloyd said confidently.

"And we’re here to locate a spatial anomaly... Well, good luck to you guys." Sonic said, turning to Sally.

"I’m going to scan the place—the anomaly should be nearby..." She started walking when her eyes landed on a cardboard box that obviously wasn’t there the first time they’d been to that place years ago. "Curious."

She crouched down, opening the box, seeing some mechanical objects and accessories. But at the bottom, there was a file folder. She pulled it out and examined it.

"What is it, Sally?" Sonic crossed his arms, looking at the document. "Project Kitsune?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Read it—it might have clues about where my sister is!" Lloyd urged, approaching the two Mobians, the other two ninjas following close behind.

"Project Kitsune, the electric fox..." Sally frowned. "This was one of Eggman’s fusion experiments, using Mobian DNA and a human child to merge the species and create the ultimate weapon—just like his grandfather did..."

Lloyd let out a quiet gasp, bending down to try to read the document.

"That photo... It's my sister!" He pressed his finger on top of a picture that was between the pages. "Exactly the age they took her from my world..." He clenched his fists.

"The Kitsune Project was a success, perfectly proving that the perfect being between two races can exist... And not only that, she inherited all the powers from her homeland. She grows healthy and strong, perfect to become my perfect soldier in the future. However, I still need to implement the proper obedience enhancement, to prevent her from getting out of control..." Sally kept reading, her voice gradually turning into astonishment.

Sonic stood behind her, mouth agape, his mind already connecting everything to you, but he didn’t want to believe it. All this time, you actually never had a childhood, you were kept in that lab until you grew up and were freed by the Freedom Fighters, and that stirred something inside him in an inexplicable way.

"She’s my sister... I knew it, she turned into that little arctic fox." Lloyd clenched his fists.

Suddenly, in the background, a transmission began on a huge screen. After some static and buzzing, Eggman’s clear image appeared, making everyone furrow their brows.

"Hello, hello to all of you, even my unexpected ninja guests. Welcome to my supposedly abandoned hideout... And how nice that you found the box with the information from my supreme research... Which was stolen from me!" He slammed his hand on his desk hard, causing the transmission to shake.

"You’re going to pay for taking her from her family and doing that to her, Egg-dumb..." Sonic stepped forward with an expressionless look.

"How noble of you, blue rat, but I suppose I didn’t even need her anymore, I already know all the data and timing of her research to create something even better..." he said seriously, leaning back into his chair.

A massive crash echoed through the place, rubble fell from the ceiling, followed by something huge and heavy that destroyed everything below as it landed. The five took steps back.

The thing roared, spreading enormous robotic wings and digging sharp claws into the ground. Its single eye focused on the three figures standing before it.

"I present to you my newest creation... Mecha-Ryu 2.0, since the first one almost killed me when it self-destructed." Eggman laughed. "It possesses the technology I used in Metal Overlord, as well as some nindroid tech that I stole, and of course, an almost organic internal system that I made using DNA from the dear little fox. In short, my perfect creation!" Eggman clenched his fists, determined.

The creature growled, striking the ground. Immediately above it, a yellowish glow appeared as a spatial rift began to open.

"Lloyd, again..." Zane said, gripping his blade tightly.

"I know... What’s your plan anyway?" He turned to Eggman.

Eggman chuckled softly.

"I’m glad you asked, dear ninja. I just want to merge Mobius with the ninja world, right here..." He raised both hands, gesturing grandiosity. "And then, I won’t just rule Mobius, but I’ll rule your world too. I’ll be the leader and build an interdimensional Eggmanland!" he said loudly, as the portal above started to grow in size.

"We can’t allow that..." Sally said to Sonic.

At that moment, you turned the last hallway, entering the room out of breath, eyes wide. In front of you was the enormous mechanical dragon. Sonic and Sally turned in your direction when they heard you, and near them stood three humans. You furrowed your brow, feeling a strange affinity with one of them.

"[Y/N]! So glad you’re here..." Sonic ran to your side, holding your hands.

"Sonic..." You didn’t even have time to say anything before you were enveloped in strong arms – and it wasn’t Sonic. On the other hand, the scent was familiar, comforting, the smell of home.

"Sister..." the ninja whispered.

"What?" you said, your voice cracking a bit as you pulled away from the hug.

"Yes, you’re my sister... I’ve spent so long looking for you." You looked into his eyes, his scent. The memory hit you like an arrow.

You remembered, even though you were so small at the time, the gentle arms of your family, Lloyd’s face, and then you remembered the cold arms of the robot that kidnapped you, the wicked laughter, the crying of those who had lost you. You remembered the pain of the experiments, the transformation into a Mobian.

Taking a step back, you gasped, holding your head from the immense pain of the memory. Silent tears rolled down your cheeks.

Sonic approached, holding your shoulders.

"Sweetheart, are you okay?" With his presence, you began to calm down, your breathing returning to normal.

"I’m okay, thank you, Sonic..." Then, you turned to the dragon.

"Eggman wants to merge your family’s world with Mobius using that dragon. We have to stop him..." Sonic whispered. You nodded.

"Yeah... brother, right?" The word felt foreign to you, but you looked at that ninja who had always been someone important to you. "We’ll talk more later... For now, how about we join forces to defeat that pile of junk."

"You don’t even have to ask..." He reached into his pocket, pulling out a pendant with a pale green stone. "Take this. Our parents asked me to give it to you when I found you... The day has finally come..."

You smiled, accepting the stone.

"Family reunion? Touching, but even that won’t stop me from completing my plan!" Eggman’s voice rang out as the monster roared, enlarging the portal even more.

Taking a deep breath, you placed the pendant around your neck, preparing for battle. However, as soon as the pendant was properly worn, a glow emanated from it, starting to spread all over you. Your eyes widened in surprise.

The glow enveloped you like magic, and when you looked back, there weren’t just one but nine dazzling tails flickering with electric energy.

"Love to see it, babe." Sonic praised, winking at you. Behind, the rest of the Freedom Fighters arrived, stopping and watching the scene, confused.

"It’s time to take down this rusty can." You extended a hand, holding Sonic’s hand, and with the other, you grabbed Lloyd’s hand. "All of us!"

Sally nodded, turning to the allies.

"Everyone, distract the giant robot!" she commanded, grabbing a rock from the rubble and throwing it at the dragon’s only eye, making it growl and glare at them furiously.

"Kai, Zane, you know what to do..." the ninja said. The other two nodded confidently, turning toward the robot.

Quickly, Zane ran in, using his powers to unleash a wave of ice energy that froze the dragon’s legs, preventing it from walking. Kai jumped overhead, charging a fiery strike and launching it at the dragon’s wings, causing a huge explosion and shattering them.

"Ready?" you asked. Sonic and Lloyd nodded, and then the three of you launched yourselves at the dragon. Sonic charged up a Spin Dash. You used one of your tails to boost him, doing the same with your brother, who brandished his sword, aiming for the dragon’s eye. You charged your power in your palms as you always did, but this time it felt stronger than ever.

The impact from the three of you was deafening, sparks flying everywhere, a massive explosion from the robot’s body, with mechanical parts scattered all over. The three of you were thrown far away but cushioned by your nine tails.

Fallen on the ground together, the three of you laughed. Sonic turned to you.

"Wow, babe, I think I just fell for you all over again..." he said with a grin.

"Well... I think we have a lot to talk about, sister..." Lloyd said softly, letting out a light chuckle too.

Mobotropolis was lit up in celebration, loud music echoing everywhere in a huge party to celebrate the Freedom Fighters for stopping yet another catastrophe caused by Eggman.

But to you, something more important than the party was happening.

In the nearby woods, now back in your normal form, you were gathered with Sonic, the ninjas, and Tails, who was preparing a device.

"I really liked this world, sister... Truly radiant. I liked your boyfriend too, cool guy, takes good care of you." He gave you a few pats on the back, making you laugh.

"Yeah... I’m really happy, you know? Not knowing about my family caused me so much pain... But now that I do, I feel relieved... I don’t feel angry at Eggman for doing all that... I’m even thankful, I found my place between two worlds..." you said sweetly, and Sonic squeezed your hand.

"I’m happy for you, sister..." He closed his eyes, holding back tears.

"All done, everyone. My interdimensional device is ready." Tails turned to the group. "You can go back to your world safely now. And if you want to come back, just activate the device." The fox exclaimed cheerfully.

"We’re grateful, fox inventor. We’ll definitely be back..." Lloyd turned to you. "And sister, I hope to see you in our world too. Our parents would be happy to see you..."

You nodded.

"Definitely, brother. I’ll just take care of a few things and come visit. I really want to take Sonic to see my homeland!" you exclaimed, and your brother smiled.

"We’ll be waiting for you then, sister..." He waved, the other two ninjas waved as well, walking ahead, followed by Lloyd, and then the portal closed.

"Wow... so many revelations for one day..." Sonic laughed. "But I’m glad you chose to live here, with me..." He placed his hand on your waist.

"You’re part of my life now too, love. I can’t abandon you. Like I said... I belong to both worlds now..." You cupped his cheek.

"And that’s why I love you five times more now, darling..." He leaned in, touching his muzzle to yours in a slow, passionate kiss.

Your new life, now knowing your origins, was only just beginning.

Finding themselves 'trapped' in a small inn Lloyd and Harumi have to decide if they are ready to share a bed.

Harumi sat in the passenger seat of the car watching the rain pour down with no clear sign of letting up anytime soon. Lloyd, as per usual, was trying to be the hero by standing out in the storm trying to fix the engine. “Give it up. We’re stuck here for the night,” Harumi called opening the door just a crack. Of course, Lloyd argued her only to climb back into the car a few seconds later.

“Well you better get comfortable, this is gonna be a long night,” Lloyd sighed as he slammed the car door shut, shaking off droplets of water like a dog. Harumi shifted in her seat, glancing over at the dimly lit dashboard where the clock ticked ominously.

“Nice to know you care about my comfort,” she replied, crossing her arms and glaring out the window at the sheets of rain obscuring the silhouette of the trees lining the deserted road. The only sounds were the pitter-patter of raindrops against metal and the occasional rumble of distant thunder. “Didn’t seem like that when you forced me to go on a three-hour car ride that has now turned into a whole night.”

Lloyd reclined in his seat draping a soaked arm over his eyes. “You said you didn’t care what we did on this date. Besides, I thought a scenic drive through the country would be romantic. I didn’t plan on my car breaking down in the middle of a storm.”

Harumi let out a small huff adjusting her position. She couldn’t believe she was being forced to sleep in a car. “Romantic?” Harumi snorted, letting the word roll off her tongue. “You call this romantic? A waterlogged vehicle, no cell service, and the only meal options are the last crumbs of stale pretzels in my purse?”

Lloyd shifted slightly in his seat, scrunching his wet shirt fabric that was now sticking uncomfortably against his skin. “Hey, I’m trying here,” he said with a hint of defensiveness, pulling his arm away from his eyes to glance at her. “It’s not like I wanted this to happen. We’re together, right? That’s what matters.”

“Together in a stranded car doesn't sound like a great date, Lloyd,” she replied, struggling to keep her anger at bay. She knew she was being ridiculous, after all, Lloyd had just been trying to have a good time with her, but right now she did not care. Pulling out a brochure of the town they were just outside of she started looking for a place where they could spend the night.

As she leafed through the crumpled paper, Lloyd groaned, “Great idea, Harumi. Let’s just find a hotel, right? Except how are we going to get there, there’s no way we’re going to walk out in that storm.”

“Watch me,” Harumi snipped back, finally unable to contain the wave of frustration that had built up inside her. She pushed the car door open once more, this time forcing her way through the sheets of rain. The cold hit her like an icy slap, but the rush of adrenaline made her push back against the elements. She was ready to brave the night and the downpour just to get away from the stifling tension in the car.

“Harumi!” Lloyd shouted, stumbling out after her, his shoes squelching against the watery ground. “You’re going to get soaked! Come back!” When she didn’t respond he took that as his sign to catch up with her.

The two splashed through the rising puddles, each step becoming a battle. Harumi was fueled by annoyance and the urge for freedom, while Lloyd followed close behind, his voice a mix of worry and exasperation. “This is the worst idea you’ve ever had!” he panted, nearly slipping on the wet gravel.

“Your idea of romance was getting stuck in a car. How is this worse?” she hollered back, her hair plastered to her face and soaking through to her skin. “I’d take my chances with anything else!”

About forty-five minutes later they were met with the faint shimmer of street lamps flashing ahead, illuminating a small, rustic-looking inn. The sign read “Willow Creek Lodge” swaying slightly as the wind howled around it. Harumi felt an overwhelming sense of relief flush over her; a sanctuary within reach. “See? That wasn’t so hard, was it?” she laughed half-exhausted and half-triumphant, turning back to look at Lloyd, who was struggling to keep pace. As they approached the inn, the old wooden door creaked open to reveal a tiny, warm lobby adorned with vintage decor. A fire crackled in a corner, filling the air with a welcoming aroma. Behind the counter, a middle-aged woman with glasses perched on her nose looked up, her brows knitted in concern.

“Goodness gracious! You two are soaked!” she exclaimed, her kind face breaking into a gentle smile. “What brings you out in the storm?”

“Car trouble,” Lloyd answered, shaking off like a wet dog once more. “Can we get a room? We don’t want to stay out there any longer.”

The woman nodded hurriedly, reaching under the counter. “Of course, I have one room left for the night. Just one bed, but it’ll keep you both warm and dry.”

Harumi shared a glance with Lloyd; there was a moment of silent communication—a pang of uncertainty mixed with reluctant agreement. They had come this far only to be thrust into closer quarters than either had anticipated. “We’ll take it,” Harumi said, breaking the tension.

“Room 2B,” the innkeeper said, handing them an antique brass key. “Just up the stairs to your right. I’ll prepare some hot chocolate for you while you settle in.”

“Thanks,” Lloyd said quickly, feeling a sudden wave of gratitude amidst the embarrassment. They trudged up the creaky staircase, neither of them saying a word due to lingering frustrations and now embracement. Yes, they'd been dating for some time now but they had never shared a bed and neither one of them knew what to expect.

Once in the room, Lloyd looked around at the quaint decor before walking over to the window to check if the storm had lessened at all. As he peered out, the relentless rain blurred everything, like the world had filtered into a watercolor painting, moving and vibrant. He sighed, feeling the fatigue settle in his bones. “Looks like we’re stuck here for the night after all,” he announced, turning back toward Harumi, who had already thrown her damp jacket onto a chair. “You can have the bed, I don't mind sleeping on the chair.”

Harumi looked over at him and a part of her, the part that held grudges, really wanted to take him up on that offer. But she couldn’t ignore the softening of her heart at his willingness to sacrifice his comfort for hers. She folded her arms and shook her head. “I’m not taking the bed. We’ll figure this out.”

Lloyd raised an eyebrow, stepping away from the window. “What do you mean we’ll figure this out? Harumi, this isn't exactly a shared living space. It’s a tiny room with one bed!”

Harumi took a deep breath, battling the remnants of her frustration. “We’re not going to let the storm win. We shouldn’t let this ruin our night. It’s just a bed. We can share it… like adults.” She almost found herself laughing at the way his face reddened at her statement. “You���re not scared, are you?”

“What?! No! Of course not!” Lloyd sputtered, stumbling slightly over his words. “It’s just… we’ve never… you know…” He trailed off, uncertain how to even finish the sentence.

“Just what?” Harumi pressed playfully, crossing the room to stand in front of him, arms still folded defiantly.

Lloyd ran a hand through his wet hair, his nervous energy palpable. “It feels… different. Like everything will change after tonight.”

Harumi tilted her head wet strands of hair falling around her face like an elegant frame. “Well isn't our whole relationship based on change,” she challenged, an inviting smile breaking through her frustration. Beneath that banter, there was a distinct tension lingering in the air—the awareness of just how close they both were, physically and emotionally.

“Okay, fair point,” Lloyd conceded, his demeanor softening as he caught her gaze. “But still… I’m pretty sure sharing a bed would take things to a whole different level.”

“Then let’s take things to a whole different level,” Harumi replied, reveling in the spark of excitement in her voice. He blinked at her, clearly taken aback. “We’re dating, right? Sharing a bed isn’t that big a deal.”

Lloyd scratched the back of his neck, continuing to eye her warily, “I mean, it just feels… so permanent.”

“That’s the thing!” Harumi laughed, her heart racing at his unexpected vulnerability. “Nothing in life is permanent. It’s full of risks, and adventures… like driving into a storm!” She stepped back slightly, her back hitting the wooden dresser. “We can either drown in frustration or we step forward and take a leap.”

The tension in the air shifted, a whisper of understanding passing between them. Lloyd took a step closer, his brooding expression transforming into a tentative smile. “Okay, then. One bed.” He made his way to the side of the bed, flopping down onto it with a bounce.

Harumi watched him with a fond smile. She really couldn't stay mad at him when all he had wanted to do was make her happy. A soft knock at the door pulled her from her thoughts and she was reminded of the promise of hot chocolate. “Come in!” she called, watching as the innkeeper opened the door, a tray of steaming mugs in hand.

“Here you go, hot chocolate just for you two!” she beamed, setting the tray down on the small table. “And here’s a change of clothes, I wouldn't want you catching a cold.”

Harumi’s eyes lit up at the sight of the soft flannel pajamas and wool socks. “You’re a lifesaver!” she exclaimed, grabbing the clothes with a grin. She turned to Lloyd, who was already reaching for a mug of hot chocolate, barely contained by his own satisfaction.

“Thanks!” he said, wrapping both hands around the warm cup. The steam wafting up brought with it a sense of comfort, like a warm embrace against the storm raging outside.

The innkeeper chuckled. “No problem at all! You two look like you could use a bit of pampering after being out in that weather. The storm can whip up fast out here in the country, but at least you’re safe now.” She gave them one last smile and turned to leave. “Just let me know if you need anything else.”

After swapping out their wet clothes for the comfy pajamas and finishing off the rest of the chocolatey goodness in their mugs the two settled into the bed. Harumi nestled against the pillows, her heart pounding slightly as Lloyd turned off the bedside lamp, casting the room into a cozy twilight glow. The rain continued its relentless dance against the windows. The storm outside had transformed from a nuisance into a rhythmic backdrop, their own little symphony.

“Do you think it'll let up anytime soon?” Lloyd asked, breaking the silence as he shifted, propping himself up on one elbow, looking intently at her.

“Probably not,” Harumi replied with a soft smile, her heart fluttering. The solitude of the room enveloped them in a cocoon of warmth and intimacy. Without a second thought, she inched herself closer until she felt the warmth radiating off Lloyd’s body, a comfortable weight she couldn’t help but crave. Lloyd watched her trying to gauge what was okay and what would be crossing a line in this situation. Hesitantly he pulled her closer, smiling to himself when she let out a sigh of contentment. Instinctively he wrapped his arms around her protectively and held her tight, the stress of earlier slipping away in the quiet moments they shared. The tensions that had once defined their night now faded, replaced with a serenity neither had expected in their first shared night.

“When the games are over, when the world is saved, we’ll find Jay. I promise,” Lloyd vowed. 

Nya stared at his concerned face. “When the world is saved,” she repeated in a deadpan tone.

Lloyd smiled. “Right.” 

Her brows furrowed. “We’re always saving the world. There’s always some new threat, some new enemy, but you know what else there’s always been? Jay! Us! As a family. He needs us! He needs me.” 

Nya brought her fist to her chest. Her fellow Ninja exchanged worried glances, and her stomach dropped. She could hear her own heart racing just as she imagined each footstep Jay took away from her. 

“Nya-” Lloyd started. 

“Let me talk to her,” Cole interjected. He squeezed Lloyd’s shoulder. Lloyd nodded to him and led the others back towards their lodging. Meanwhile, Nya’s leg bounced in place. Every second, Jay got further away. 

“C’mon, Cole! You’d come with me, right? He’s your best friend!”

Cole sighed deeply. Nya hated when he did that. He stepped closer and tried to put his hand on her shoulder, but she flinched away. 

“No, don’t touch me! Don’t try to reason with me. He’s my other half, Cole! I haven’t seen him in five years and I can’t let him get away now.” 

“Nya, I know it’s hard but-” 

“No, you don’t know-” 

Nya saw the hurt in Cole’s eyes and immediately knew she said something wrong. She remembered Geo, the soft looks shared between them. It’d truly been so long…

“I might have some idea,” Cole murmured. 

“I know,” Nya conceded. She let her shoulders drop. “I’m sorry.” 

Cole tried to touch her again, and this time Nya let him. His hand was warm and strong just as she remembered and it made her ache all over again. How much had been taken from her… “First Kai, now Jay.” 

“I know.” 

“I can’t have them taken from me again, Cole.” Nya started to tear up. She shook her head rapidly; she hated crying. 

“I- I want to go after him too. But we have a responsibility to the realms. We can’t put our own desires above the fate of the world. No matter how much it hurts. You know that,” Cole said.

She did. Nya’s eyes fell to the ground. She felt waves swirl around inside her, crashing against each other. One force was pulling her towards Jay, the other was urging her to stay put, like twin moons. A single tear dropped down her cheek. “I miss him,” she said brokenly. 

Cole pulled her into an embrace, resting her head against his shoulder. “I know.”

Nya started to sob. “I miss him loving me.”

Cole hugged her tighter, one hand in her hair, the other on her lower back. “I’m so sorry,” he whispered. 

As much as his scent of jasmine and earth comforted her, Nya craved the indescribable after-storm air of her yin. How many times had she had that scent wrapped around her? While they danced, while they fought. But how many times now had she jolted awake thinking smelled him in her bed? She tried to remember his eyes, but all she could recall was the venomous hate she’d seen in them last. How could her Jay ever look at her that way? Jay, who kissed her hands, her fingertips; whose freckles she had counted while he slept; who loved her even before she loved herself; who’d sacrifice his life for her over and over again? 

Nya clung to Cole’s shirt and let herself cry. She pounded her fist against him, screamed, let her voice rip out of her throat so hard it hurt. She screamed Jay’s name into the chill night air, almost imagining he could hear her. 

When she heard the sound of thunder, she flinched and looked over her shoulder, half-expecting to see Jay. But there was no one there. Instead, she felt his own powers buzzing in her veins. The sky had darkened while she buried her head in Cole’s shoulder and soon, she felt a raindrop land on her head. 

Nya parted from Cole and stared up at the sky, palms open. The rain quickly picked up until it was a downpour pattering against the pavement and rooftops. Blue lightning crackled among the clouds. Her hair and clothes began to be soaked by the rain, and the sensation was bittersweetly soothing against her burning skin. Thunder rumbled again, but it didn’t make her jump this time. It felt like him and the absence of him all at once. Nya breathed in, but it didn’t smell like him; it smelled like the ocean, like her. 

Slowly, Nya looked at Cole and saw that his eyes reflected her own pain. Another pair of tears slipped down her cheeks, warm compared to the rain. She ran into his arms again.

Cole walked back to the Ninja’s lodgings with his arm wrapped around Nya.

Ninjago - Lloyd Comforting You in a Thunderstorm

You frowned at the rolling dark clouds gathering in the sky. You knew what was coming, and you knew you were powerless to prevent it. Hugging yourself with the grip of a grizzly bear, you slumped against the wall beneath the window, gritting your teeth in anticipation.

The sound of your door opening nearly drove the soul from your tense body. It wasn’t the treacherous thundering noise you were dreading, but the little scare did nothing to calm you.

“Sorry,” Lloyd said, shooting you an apologetic look from your doorway. “I didn’t mean to startle you. I have some things here…” He stooped down to pick something up from the floor of the hallway just outside your view. When he straightened himself again, his arms were piled so high with blankets and pillows that you couldn’t see his face. He waddled inside, moving slowly so as not to disturb his towering burden. Then, when he reached the center of the room, he let them all drop to the floor—pompf! You started again.

“Sorry,” Lloyd winced, making his way over to you and placing a gentle hand on your shoulder. “I thought we could make a blanket fort together,” he said, subtly pulling the curtains shut to block out the sight of the storm.

You nodded, but you remained tense against the wall. Lloyd pried one of your hands from its claw-like grip on your upper arm and used it to pull you to your feet. Holding onto your hand, he put his free hand on his hip. “Okay, how are we going to do this?”

Strategizing turned out to be a pretty good distraction; good enough that you almost forgot about the storm brewing outside. Almost. The fist loud crack of thunder sent you diving into the fort, hands over your ears and eyes squeezed shut.

Happy thoughts, calm thoughts, happy thoughts, you repeated to yourself, but somehow that only made you more anxious.

You opened your eyes when you felt something soft land in your lap. You looked down to see your favorite plush toy resting on your legs. Another appeared at your side. And another. And another. And another until you were surrounded by your fluffy buddies. With no more room directly around you, Lloyd took to placing the remaining plushes in various places around the fort.

You couldn’t help but smile at the cozy sight as you hugged your favorite plush close to your chest.

“There it is,” Lloyd beamed, triumphant in his goal of comforting you.

He moved a few plushies so that he could sit next to you, a fluffy blanket draped over your backs. He pulled your head onto his shoulder and planted a kiss on your crown.

Your relaxed demeanor was again disrupted by another boom from the storm, but this time Lloyd was right there. He pulled you in closer. “It’s okay. We’re safe here.”

You sighed, leaning into his touch. “I know,” you whispered into the crook of his neck.

Whenever the thunder harassed you, Lloyd would drive your anxiety away with a gentle touch and whispered words of reassurance. “We’re okay. I’ve got you. Just hold on to your plushie.”

Soon enough the noise ceased to bother you; you were entirely absorbed in the downpour of affection from your boyfriend. That and the therapeutic softness of the plushies in your arms and around you. The storm ended, and you remained as you were. Neither of you noticed, but even if you had, you both still would’ve stayed in that fort, your private sanctuary in the midst of turmoil.

You slumped from your position against his side, your head falling in his lap as your heavy eyelids closed. You were roused only briefly when Lloyd repositioned himself. He pulled you onto his chest and tucked the blanket over you both. You nuzzled into the heat from his body, sighing dreamily. The sound of his heartbeat was like a steady drum counting you off to sleep. Soon enough you were both in dreamland, no doubt dreaming of each other.

Earth Dragon of the First Realm heacanons/lore part 5

A group of Primordial Earth Dragons is often referred to as a crash, and for good reason, too. Various tales in the mountainous regions of the First Realm are of deafening roars that can rival volcanic eruptions and crash thunder that looms in the distance. When in reality it's often Earth Dragon's engaging in ritualistic combat for events and celebrations.

Earth Dragons are often considered to be the strongest of the Primordial Dragons, in legends of old their steps are said to make the ground tremble and quake. Their tails reflecting the great jagged boulders that get dislodged by rockslides or carved by water. If there was a kin blessed by the Strength Source Dragon- it would be the Primordial Earth Dragons and those that came after.

Even more social than Fire Dragons, you will often find at least one Earth Dragon in a mixed flock or in a crash of up to ten to twelve members. Often lead by the eldest female or male, how one can tell the age of a Primordial Earth Dragon is by the size of its horns and tusks. The larger the tusks and horns, the more old it is.

Leadership is often passed in a non-combative way down to those who the crash leader deems fit, for they will wait the suitor to become capable of leading the crash one they are not able to. Most leaders do not want those who respond with violence. They want those who respond with what they feel is right in their gut.

While it is not the best way to tell, there will often be a substantial age gap between Earth Dragons who are able to use magma as an offensive/defensive capability. They can tap into the powers of magma and coat their front limbs with it. As a result, not only does their breath change from a blast of sand and dirt that can petrify anything on contact with the air, but their breath changes to lava.

Some Earth Dragons of different realms have become one with the magma and lava however. Rockslide for example has become one with it, the lava cracks amongst his eyes prove that he had sworn to the very heat from volcanoes. No longer able to use the petrification breath other Earth Dragons are able to use, like Slab for example- though he is able to tap into the magma.

However, these are only used in dire situation and specific ceremonies. One of those, being the passing of a Earth Dragon. Particularly a crash leader. Earth Dragons will create a miniature volcano or egg sort of structure then fill it with lava from their forelimbs and breath, poking holes on the outside to let the lava pour out. This done to symbolize how the cycle of death and life is a constant, how volcanoes will form new land and the moving plates within the earth will change it over time. Additionally, its to prove that the soul is eternal, just like the heat within volcanoes despite the damage done to the mortal body. (The Earth Wyvern in the Monastery of Spinjitzu, named Rockslide - is of this belief).

During the reign of Iron Baron, Fire Dragons and Earth Dragons saw the most overhunting. Fire Dragons for their ability to create the perfect weapons with pure flames and Earth Dragons for entertainment, tusks horns and spines. Slab was named by Iron Baron himself, caught after attempting to save Ultra Dragon. However, he was the reason Stormbringer and her son managed to escape Dead's End after he went on a rampage, yet was ultimately restrained and thrown into the pit where he would later need to fight against many a hunter.

He would later be the one to ferry Cole, the Earth Ninja home to Ninjago and engage in combat against the Oni Colossus with Nomad the Gasher.

EPISODE 4- REGRETS AND DESIRES

After learning the shocking truth, Nya knows what to do, but it seems that Mystake has another plan. Ninja finally find a possible way to save Kai and Skylor.

"My mother was the Master of Water." Nya repeated in shock.

"Yes, don't faint again!" Mistake said, pressing another handkerchief to her forehead.

"I..." Nya said with a sigh.

"I thought they told you." Mistake explained to her. "Because you are needed."

"I can be needed as Samurai X." Nya protested. She honestly understood little of what Mistake was saying.

"Samurai X cannot control water." Mistake stood up and looked at Nya. "Nor can she do the other things ninjas do. Remember Nya, you are needed."

"What does that mean?" Nya sighed again. "What do you know about what's happening?"

"I know everything, yet I know nothing." Mistake replied. "You are needed, Nya. Ninjago and beyond need a water ninja."

"But I'm not a water ninja," Nya said desperately. "And I don't want to be."

"You're not a ninja. But you will become one. Even if not here and not now." Mistake said, clenching her fists. "We have much to do."

"I have to go help Garmadon and Misako," Nya said, standing up decisively. "And the guys!"

"First, you have to listen to me." Mistake said, gesturing for her to follow.

"I don't think this is a good idea," Cole repeated as they descended.

"We have no choice," Lloyd sighed.

"We really don't," Sanfungol confirmed. He didn't quite resemble Zane, but it was better than nothing. Certainly better than...

"Lightning! Lightning!" Dareth shouted, mimicking the sounds of thunder.

"Shh." Lloyd put a finger to his lips. "The less you two talk, the less chance there is of getting caught."

"Are you..." Cole began, but the guards interrupted him.

"STOP!" they shouted, quickly surrounding the ninjas.

"Here are my favorite guests!" Chen yelled as the guards carried him to the throne.

"You act like a king, Chen," Cole said glumly. "Where is Kai?"

"And what do you want with him and Skylor?" Lloyd added sternly.

"I want to have fun," Chen replied cheerfully, sinking deeper into the throne. "And why are these two silent?"

"Because they have no need to speak," Cole snapped before Dareth and Sanfungol could say anything.

"What are you trying to do, Chen?" Lloyd asked. "This time, you won't easily steal the elemental powers!"

"I've given up on my grand plans," Chen said unconvincingly. "I just want to have fun."

"How did you come back?" Cole clenched his fists.

"Blah blah blah," Chen rolled his eyes. "Questions are boring. Let the fun begin!"

"We're here for Kai and Skylor!" Cole shouted angrily. "Not for fun."

"But that's the point, earth ninja," Chen said with a slight smile. "Choose one among yourselves. And let him dare to pass through this room here! If he succeeds, you have Kai and Skylor."

"How can we trust you?" Lloyd frowned.

"I don't think you have a choice," Chen shrugged. "Did I mention that if you don't leave this room quickly enough, you will lose your sanity?"

"Who will go?" Cole snapped as all four of them huddled together in a circle.

"I'll go," Lloyd said decisively.

"No way!" Cole countered.

"I am a leader," Lloyd reminded him.

"Exactly." Cole pressed his lips together. "We need you, and I'll handle whatever is in there!"

"I'm going," Lloyd insisted. "I’m the green ninja."

"As you wish," Cole sighed reluctantly. "We’re behind you!"

"I know," Lloyd smiled and looked at Chen. "I'm going!"

"How is this possible?" Nya asked when they entered a room full of maps.

"What?" Mistake absentmindedly asked as she searched for some things.

"Everything about Chen..." Nya peeked over Mistake's shoulder.

"There are possibilities of a spirit returning from the Cursed Realms." Mistake said.

"But Chen isn't..." Nya began, but Mistake interrupted her.

"But there is a way for both spirit and body to return!" Mistake took a map and showed it to Nya.

"I don't understand anything." Despite that, Nya admired the map.

"Listen. This is the Kingdom of the Six Duchies, or rather, it now has seven duchies, but it doesn’t matter. It is located across the sea."

"Why don't we know much about it if it's very close?" Nya asked curiously.

"We are in the same realm, but they, along with a few other kingdoms, keep to themselves, while we keep to ourselves. We aren’t quite alike, but we’re not that different either."

"Does Chen have anything to do with this?" Nya frowned.

"Yes, as I told you. Exactly two weeks after being exiled, a ritual can be performed that frees the exiled souls." Mistake pointed to a specific spot on the map.

"As you can see, it can only be done in a special place, which is located in the Six Duchies."

"Has anyone ever tried that?" Nya looked at the map in confusion. "And that means..."

"Yes, many have tried, but they failed. It is very difficult to carry out." Mistake said, putting the map away. "Not just anyone can do it.

Someone very powerful and cunning. Someone who needs Chen and his army."

"But who could that be?" Nya felt the pressure rising. The situation was serious.

"Anyone." Mistake exhaled. "And Chen has been free for some time, devising a plan..."

"And someone is with him." Nya finished.

"Probably." Mistake said as she exited the room.

"The Chen doesn't plan the same thing again, right?" Nya said while following Mistake.

"No." Mistake said decisively. "That’s why you need to bring us Skylor. And after that, probably Misako. Actually, for sure."

"But who first?" Nya quietly asked. "We know that Misako and Garmadon are captured."

"It will be difficult to do anything there." Mistake said sadly, looking firmly at Nya.

"But..." Nya protested.

"We need both of them. Garmadon to train you, and Misako for information." Mistake interrupted.

"And they are part of our family." Nya noted.

"Let’s hope for the best." Mistake said, looking sharply into Nya's eyes. "You have to bring us ninjas and Skylor."

"How do you know they are in trouble?" Nya asked worriedly.

"I just know." Mistake cut off Nya's questions and looked away. Nya did not waste another second.

"Green ninja, how cute!" Chen laughed. "Come on in."

Lloyd slowly walked to the room, with Cole, Dareth, and Sanfungol anxiously standing behind him.

As he entered the room, he felt a cold breeze envelop him. Soon, the dark room became bright.

Inside, Lloyd saw images. Images he didn’t remember—pictures from his childhood with his parents.

"Welcome to the room of your greatest regrets and desires," a voice said, and Lloyd turned around to find no one there.

"My greatest regrets and desires..." Lloyd whispered, continuing to gaze at the scenes of his childhood.

“Why…” Then he immediately realized. They were so happy—he and his parents—and he remembered nothing.

He watched the images of his mom and dad playing with him, tears welling in his eyes.

Simple little things. Cooking with his parents, drawing with them, going to the park. How they hugged him...

"That’s not a part of me. That’s not me... I don’t remember anything from before my fifth year... Before Darkly's." Lloyd said, distressed.

For a while, tears streamed down Lloyd's face, and then he felt himself slowly becoming part of those images...

He drowned in memories that weren't even his... How wonderful it would be to live in those days again.

To be a normal child once more. To be a kid. To grow up with parents.

"...if you don't leave this room quickly enough, you will lose your sanity.." He felt the voice echoing in his head.

"I have to go," Lloyd said, slowly passing through the room.

He wanted to stay so badly... He would give anything to remain. But he was stronger than that.

"Kai!" he shouted as he stepped out. He found himself in a cold dungeon. There were no guards.

"Lloyd?" he heard two voices at once.

"Wait," Lloyd said and grabbed the nearest torch. His eyes were still red.

It was frighteningly dark. To his relief, he found a key on the floor and unlocked Kai and Skylor.

Could it be that Chen kept his promise?

"Lloyd, how?" Kai looked at him in awe.

"Are you..." Skylor began, but Lloyd interrupted her.

"We have to go. Quickly! The question is how long Chen will pretend to keep his word."

"Zane, Jay!" Nya shouted as she descended with her Samurai X to the guys.

"Nya!" Jay yelled, rushing to her.

"What’s going on?" Nya looked confused. "Where are they..."

"Down with Dareth and Sanfungol, who are pretending to be us," Zane tried to explain to her.

"Dareth and who?" Nya asked.

"We don’t have time!" Zane shouted. "I see Kai and Skylor with them, but Chen's soldiers won’t let them go."

"Let’s go!" Nya shouted, jumping into her Samurai X suit.

"You’re not going anywhere!" the guards shouted.

"You promised," Lloyd said, grinding his teeth.

"And you weren’t supposed to pass through that room!" Chen pulled. "The guards..."

"It's over, Chen!" Nya yelled, diving down.

"Samurai X?" Chen looked at her confused. "Weren’t you in a monastery..."

"How do you know?" Kai asked.

"Run! I’ll hold them back!" Nya shouted. Everyone began to flee as Nya held off the guards.

Zane and Cole greeted them and helped them climb up without obstruction.

Once everyone got out, Sanfungol sealed the entrance to the underground passages.

"I’ll freeze it!" Zane stopped Sanfungol.

"No, this has a different mechanism!" Sanfungol replied, starting to fiddle with the entrance.

"There, that should do it. We should have some time..."

"Did you find any help, Nya?" Lloyd asked.

"Unfortunately, they’re all unavailable," Nya sighed.

"Who is unavailable?" Skylor asked.

"The elemental masters," Jay explained to her. "Do you think Chen..."

"Possible," Skylor sighed.

"Let's go to the Mystake tea shop," Nya said. "We can’t waste time."

"I’ve had enough ninja adventures for today," Dareth smiled. "I’m going!"

"Do I have your permission to go with you?" Sanfungol politely asked. Lloyd frowned slightly at this.

"You've proven yourself an ally," Cole said, placing a hand on his shoulder.

"If you claim to be a friend, we trust you!" Zane added. "Let’s go!"

"Wait!" Lloyd said, and everyone froze. "Any information about Sensei Wu and my parents?"

"Wu has gone beyond the Ninjago," Nya said seriously. "Mystake assumes to a place where the ritual was performed to bring Chen and his army back."

"Where is that?" Zane asked.

"We don’t have time right now," Nya shook her head. "Mystake will explain everything."

"And where's Clouse?" Jay remembered. "We haven’t seen him."

"My parents, Nya?" Lloyd anxiously asked. He had a feeling something was wrong.

"Clouse has been spying on us with a mechanical spider," Nya began.

"What!" everyone exclaimed in surprise.

"He knew Misako and Garmadon were going to the docks and captured them..." Nya struggled to finish the last sentence as she watched Lloyd's expression change.

"We have to save them!" Lloyd said firmly.

"I'm sorry." Nya sighed sadly. "We need to go to Mystake first."

"Why?" Kai interrupted. "We go for them, then to Wu."

"Because we need to understand what my father is planning," Skylor interjected. "I know I'm not authorized to tell you this.

They’re all your family... but first, we must hear what Mystake has to say, and then we go for them!"

"That's right, Lloyd," Sanfungol said, placing a hand on Lloyd's shoulder. "Don't worry kid. We will go for them as soon as possible, and it will be quick."

"Thank you." Lloyd smiled slightly. His distrust of Sanfungol was somewhat fading.

When he looked closer at his face, he could see fine, well-hidden wrinkles. His face could be in its fifties.

"Then let's not waste any more time!" Kai said, and everyone followed him.

"Wait aren't you thinking this was a little too easy?" Zane asked as they ran.

"It won't be easy." Nya reminded him."

"But it feels like they leted us go," Zane explained.

"Actually, you're right." "Lloyd stopped in amazement." Who knows what Chen is planning."

Idk which Legos you were referring to so I will make a HC post for Ninjago characters since it’s what I’m currently hyperfixating on.

So one thing about me is that I love incorporating other people’s headcanons into my own. And sometimes that leads to some contradicting headcanons, so in my little brain I have like, multiple different sets of headcanons for a bunch of different characters while also having My Headcanons, those being the ones I believe in the most/came up with without outside influence. I will be listing My Headcanons, but I type that entire preface to explain why some of my posts might be contradictory of the headcanons I list here 🫶

Their eye color aligns with their element, they all have their natural eye colors, but after realizing/unlocking their elemental powers, they began to change.

Adding onto the above hc, Kai and Nya's eyes are still pretty dull due to them being like, the last two to realize their powers, while Jay's are extremely bright and vibrant.

Jay- she/they (occasionally he) transfem + gender-fluid, bisexual

Hard of hearing, wears hearing aids. I think the hearing loss has always been there, but I think her elemental power just worsened it, bc you know. Thunder loud.

That being said, I think she was the first to get her elemental powers. I think they got them when she was like, a really really young kid.

Has heterochromia.

Came out as trans like, mid-prime empire.

Has psychosis and suffers from delusions.

Not rlly a Jay hc, but related. Their mom gave them up because she was desperately hoping they wouldn't have an elemental power, but if she did, they'd be near unfindable because she lived through hell and didn't want Jay to have to go through the same.

AuDHD

Nya- she/they transfem nonbinary, bisexual demiromantic

Has a tremor after un-merging with the ocean.

Her and Kai both have pretty bad anger issues.

For a long time after Hands Of Time she hates the way she looks because of how much she looks like her mom.

Still holds a heavy resentment against their parents, because even though it wasn't their choice to leave, them and Kai still had to grow up alone.

Fucking hates the taste of cinnamon.

Has time blindness, but only after un-merging with the ocean. She became disoriented and confused about the passage of time after being the ocean for so long.

Sometimes they still feel pulled back to the water.

Has insomnia, and a sleepwalking problem when he can get to sleep.

Looked fairly human when he was young, but as he got older, his Oni and Dragon features started showing more.

The feelings he felt for Harumi was mostly confusion because she was the first girl he got close to that didn't have what felt like an 'older sister' role in his life.

Really likes bugs.

Has auditory processing disorder.

Their body doesn't regulate temperature regularly.

Religiously watches iceberg videos.

Likes wearing more loose fitting, baggy clothing.

High-empathy autistic.

Kai- he/him transman, bisexual

He and Nya both have pretty bad anger issues.

He likes occasionally dressing femininely, but usually decides against it because he’s afraid people won’t take him seriously.

Has burn scars that go pretty far up his arms due to his own elemental power.

Extremely high body heat, has to wear gloves to avoid burning people at the touch.

After the events of DOTD he has to use a mobility aid for a while while he gets accustomed to having a body again.

He loves cooking, and is very defensive about it. NOBODY is allowed in the kitchen while he's cooking (except Nya she's his taste tester).

Has constant night terrors and has a very detailed sleep routine to avoid them.

Super good with kids.

OCD + ADHD.

Zane- they/them agender, panromantic ace

Will sometimes pick up little crafts or projects, jack of all trades type vibe.

Is actually SUPER up to date with every single internet trend or meme.

Can't taste (bc they're a nindroid...) but fr thought for years that all food just had no taste until the robot reveal and they're like 'ohh'

Has constantly wildly shifting morals.

Genuinely the scariest of the group, sometimes freaking out everyone else. This makes them sad. They present themselves in such a way to make them approachable.

Has a tendency to blame themself when everything goes wrong.

After the events of S4 she completely uprooted her life, changed literally everything about herself to disconnect herself from her father. Renamed the noodle shop, and completely rewrote the menu.

Picked up painting, is insanely good at it.

Slightly self destructive, constantly trying to distance themself from the ninja, but Kai always drags her back.

Probably bites people.

Because of how sheltered she was with the royal family, she doesn't know a lot of basic life skills, and had to teach herself near everything she knows.

Always blaming her problems on other people, that being a product of the extreme pressure he was under when princess.

Starstruck [Ninjago x Reader]- The Rise of the Great Devourer

Previous Chapter

The Destiny's Bounty glided through dark clouds as thunder and lighting clashed and rain poured. Wu sat quietly, meditating with his eyes closed in front of burning sticks producing spirit smoke. The unique smoke produced an image of his students being surrounded and overwhelmed by Serpentine. The future-telling smoke shifted to an image of Sensei Wu facing off with Pythor as the Great Devourer rose to consume the old man with Y/n reaching out to him. Wu opened his eyes dreadfully with a sudden gasp.

The Smith siblings observed the glowing Fangblades laying on the table as the Lightning Ninja and Y/n sat across from them. "Why is it that Torchfire Mountain is the only place we can destroy the Fangblades?" Nya wondered.

Y/n replied, "The Fangblades are made from the original teeth of the Devourer," the dragon explained "They're so strong they can only break down in extraordinary heat."

Jay looked up from his sandwich and asked "Uh, could someone pass the salt?" Before anyone could grab the salt, wind tilted the Bounty which caused the salt shaker to slide into Jay's hand. "Hey, thanks," the excited brunette said with a wink to nobody.

The Master of Earth groggily opened the door and gripped it for stability. "Please. No one talk about food," the ship suddenly rocks and Cole swayed with it. "How much longer until we get there?" he groaned as Y/n stood to help Cole with his nausea.

"Not long," the dragon comforted with a hand on the Earth Master's back, rubbing comforting circles.

"Hey, Cole, you're looking a little green over there. How'd you like a mucus salt sandwich?" the lightning menace aggravated Cole's air sickness. The poor Earth Ninja rushed to the side of the ship with Y/n on his tail. The dragon rubbed his back as he heaved and retched over the edge of the Bounty. He stayed leaned over, panting and letting his stomach settle.

When he straightened out he came face to face with the concerned hybrid. "Are you alright, Cole?" Y/n gently grabbed his large, rough hands. The Master of Earth nodded hesitantly, knowing he would probably be sick again from the storm rocking the Bounty. "May I try something?" They asked, having an idea to relieve the ravenette's nausea. Cole only nodded again. Y/n's hand, decorated in gold jewelry, glowed a [color] light emitting healing which they placed near the ninja's forehead. Cole felt a wave of relaxation wash over him which reached his belly and relieved the shakiness and nausea.

"Woah," the Earth Ninja breathed, feeling significantly better. "Better?" Y/n asked with a gentle smile as they pulled their hand away. Now no longer feeling sick Cole admired the dragon's face which was painted with care for him. His stomach fluttered but not a bad flutter, instead an excited, flustered feeling. "Thanks," Cole smiled back absentmindedly.

Once they arrived at Torchfire Mountain, Nya stopped the Bounty above the boiling lava. "Will everyone please place their seat back and tray table in the full upright and locked position? We have reached our destination: Torchfire Mountain. Give it a minute while we settle into position," she announced in a lighthearted tone as she lowered the anchor onto the volcano.

All of the ninja walked out, each having a Fangblade in hand, onto the deck where they saw Y/n and Sensei Wu looking into the volcano. "It's roasting out here!" Jay whined, wiping sweat from his brow. "If you can't stand the heat, get the hell out the kitchen," Kai quipped. Jay was going to retort but he noticed his teacher standing solemnly, "Hey, what's with Sensei?" Zane replied, "I do not know. He's been distant all morning."

"Ah, it is beautiful, is it not?" Wu asked no one in particular. "Of course, Sensei," Y/n replied with a smile, hoping to cheer up the old man who only gave a small smile back.

"Sensei, we are ready for the destruction of the Fangblades, yet you seem disinterested," Zane observed monotonously.

"You do not need my approval to finish the task," Wu replied almost harshly which surprised the ninja and Y/n.

"Uh, but Sensei—" Jay tried.

Master Wu interrupted, "Butts are for sitting. And besides, there will come a time when you will have to go on without me."

Y/n heart leapt out of their chest hearing these words, "W-what are you saying, Sensei?.." but Wu did not answer nor look at the dragon whose eyes filled with tears, a rare sight.

"Sensei, you're talking crazy. You've been alive for, like, forever," Kai laughed nervously as Cole jabbed the Fire Ninja in the side as his comment.

"What he is trying to say is that you are like the sunrise. We cannot begin a day without you," Zane clarified.

"Ah, but even the sun must go down so a new day begins," Sensei Wu spoke vaguely. The ninjas glanced with slight concern to the dragon who was no longer speaking and had their head down, trying to contain their tears at the thought of losing their only parental figure.

"I don't like metaphors. What are you trying to say? Are you leaving us again?" Cole tried to clear up what his teacher was saying.

Wu took a deep breath before explaining, "In meditation, my smoke visions have come to an end, and tomorrow, I cannot see. This worries me."

Jay tried to be optimistic, "But it could be a good omen, you know. We destroy the Fangblades, then everything's gravy."

"Let's just get rid of them, for good," the old man encouraged as Y/n finally wiped their tears and looked up, letting out a deep breath.

A plank was set out over the volcano and Kai used his foot to hesitantly test the stability of it. Suddenly the engines began to give out, one more than the other which caused the ship to begin to tilt. Everyone who was standing on the deck was now sliding down towards the molten lava. The ninja caught themselves on the rail while Wu got thrown off of the plank but Y/n was close behind and grabbed their master's hand. They dug their dragon claws into the wood as they both hung on for dear life.

"Sensei! Y/n! Hang on! We're coming," Cole yelled as he dropped the Fangblade and made his way toward the duo while the rest of the ninja followed suit. The flimsy wood board began to crack from the damage from the dragon's claws. When the plank broke, letting Wu and Y/n fall, Cole quickly grabbed the hybrid and the rest of the ninja supported the Earth Ninja as he held their dangling comrades. "Unh! You're not going anywhere!" Cole reassured.

"Thank you," Wu said to his students, who just saved his ass. His students all groaned from the immense pressure in their joints.

"Argh! Nya, what's going on?!" Kai cried out, being the anchor of the chain.

Nya replied from the intercoms, "Ah! Someone or something has overridden the system."

Lloyd's voice called out through the ship, "Pythor's on board!"

The ninja whipped their heads around to see the purple Anacondrai. "Sorry if I don't lend a hand, but I'm really in a rush. Got this whole Devourer thing going on," the Serpentine had gathered all the discarded Fangbaldes and was ready to leave the Bounty, "Toodaloo." When Pythor turned around he came face-to-face with the child he had once betrayed.

"Where do you think you're going?" the blonde boy said with faux confidence, Bo staff in hand.

The Anacondrai scoffed, "Ah. A little cliché, don't you think?"

Lloyd's façade immediately crumbled "Uh, cliché?"

"I wouldn't expect a child to understand," the snake taunted.

"Hey, I've grown up a lot," Lloyd objected as he pulled his mask down onto his face and jumped to attack.

Pythor continued to taunt the boy as he dodged his attack, "Hm, puny strength, no fundamentals, sloppy footwork. You think you can defeat me?"

Lloyd gave a smirk, "I'm not trying to defeat you. I'm just trying to keep you busy until the cavalry arrives." Nya's Samurai mech landed with a loud thud behind Pythor. The heavy footsteps approached the Anacondrai as he held the Fangblades close to his chest. The Green Ninja landed a flying kick to the Serpentine's face and cheered, "Haha, I hit him. I hit him, guys!"

The Samurai X mech chased Pythor as he slithered between its legs and dodged Nya's attempts to catch him. "Oh, as much as I would like to play with your overgrown toys, I have a ride to catch," the purple Serpentine slithered off the rail of the bounty and landed onto a helicopter piloted by other Serpentine, "So long, suckers!"

"Don't let go!" Jay begged as the ninja began slipping off the plank.

"You think I don't know that?!" Kai shot back with a strained groan. Just as the Fire Ninja thought he might fall off of the ship a large metal hand hoisted the group back onto the Bounty's deck. "Gotcha!" Nya reassured from the pilot seat in the Samurai mech.

"I don't think I've ever been more glad to see you," Jay smiled up at her as he regained his footing.

"Feel the same," she quickly replied, "Come on, he's getting away!"

"Look, there!" the Lightning Ninja pointed to Pythor's transportation which landed near a tourist bus. "They're switching vehicles and they abandoned those tourists," Y/n observed as they watched the Serpentine hijack the bus.

Wu boarded the passenger seat on the Samurai mech, "If Pythor returns the Fangblades to the City of Ouroboros, he'll awaken the Great Devourer."

"Well, we're not gonna let that happen," Nya encouraged.

Lloyd brought the Golden Weapons out to the ninjas, along with Y/n's bow, "Oh, what about me?" he asked.

"We need someone to stay with the Bounty," Kai replied.

"But did you see me kick him in the face? I'm an asset. I kick butt. And face."

"Lloyd, you're incredibly important and we can't afford for anything to happen to you. Plus you can be our eyes in the sky," Y/n placed their hand on Lloyd's head, reassuringly. Disappointment flashed across his face but the more he thought about it, the more "eyes in the sky" sounded awesome.

"What do you say we play a little catch-up?" Jay smirked as he grabbed his weapon.

Cole snatched his scythe, "It's my favorite game!" he cheered.

When all the ninja acquired their weapon they yelled "Ninja, go!" and used Spinjitzu. They cheered as they dove off the edge and summoned their vehicles, Zane going last to grab Y/n and let them ride on the Ice Ninja's motorcycle-like vehicle. The ninja whooped and howled as they sped down the side of the volcano. Zane felt slightly giddy from the dragon's arms snaked around his waist.

"I've got him in my sights," Jay informed from his jet.

All of the ninja trailed behind the long bus which was now transforming into a snake-like vehicle. "What is that? A truck?" Kai asked, referring to the strange appearance of the ex-bus.

"That is no truck. It is a moving fortress," Wu answered.

The Master of Earth sped ahead only to be attacked by the tail of the snake-bus. "Watch out! How are we supposed to get close to that thing?" Kai asked, frustrated. Two sets of guns with a Serpentine manning them ejected from each side which began shooting at Jay and Nya.

Similarly designed motorcycles driven by snakes landed on top of the bus and jumped down, landing near Kai. "Bring it on," he growled as the Serpentine pulled up on either side of him. He stabbed one of the wheels which caused the motorcycle to crash. Taking advantage of Kai's distraction, the other Serpentine hopped from his vehicle to the Fire Ninja's motorcycle. The snake began to attack Kai as he tried to keep control of his motorcycle. An arrow flew by, hitting the attacker and knocking them off. "Thanks, Y/n!" the Master of Fire called as the dragon gave a smile in return.

Two more snake motorcycles were released out of the side of the large snake-designed vehicle. "We've got company," Nya called. "Sensei!" she exclaimed when he didn't respond because he was drinking tea.

"Huh? Let me see," Wu put his teapot away and grabbed the weapon controls. He threw a spinning blade which annihilated both enemies. "Oh, this is fun," he giggled childishly.

More snakes jumped onto Cole's car which he launched off of his vehicle. "If we have any chance at getting on that truck, we need to work together," the Master of Earth suggested.

"I've got an idea. Jay, follow me. Zane, try to get in close and cool him off," Nya instructed as she flew closer to the bus.

"Okay, I'm going in," Zane announced. Y/n hopped off of the ice motorcycle first to throw two Serpentine off and held their hand out for the Nindroid to leap onto the back of the bus. The Ice Ninja retracted his vehicle and used his shurikens to freeze the connector of the last car. With a gentle push the back end of the bus fell off, taking the snakes manning the guns with it. "Goodbye," Zane taunted the train car.

"All right. Nice one, Zane. Now let's board that truck," Jay cheered.

The remaining ninja sped ahead and returned their vehicles to their weapon forms as they boarded the bus next to Zane and Y/n. "Let's split up," Kai announced as he put his sword away, "Last one to the front is a rotten ninja." Everyone sprinted towards the front of the snake-bus. Jay was the first to break off and use Spinjitzu to enter the vehicle, then Cole and Zane broke off as well. Kai and Y/n braced for attack as two Serpentine emerged from the train. One of the snakes didn't anticipate the wind and got blown away, the other managed to land a hit on the Fire Ninja. Kai lost his balance and the force of the train moving threw him onto the side, holding onto the vehicle.

As the Master of Fire clung to the side of the snake-bus, Zane looked out the window to see him struggle. When the Nindriod quirked a brow Kai yelled "What? You try fighting up here. Huh?" Suddenly someone grabbed his hands, he looked up to see Y/n dragging him back onto the roof. Once they regained their balance they faced the next wave of Serpentine enemies.

"Mind if I interrupt?" Nya asked as she landed in front of her brother and Y/n, swatting the snakes away. A Serpentine leapt at Sensei Wu but paused when the old man said "Hmm, hold this, please," and offered the snake a cup. "Oh, yeah," he held the cup as Wu poured him tea, "Thanks." The old man punched the Serpentine away, catching his tea before it could spill.

A quick-approaching sign caught Y/n's attention. "Watch out for the sign!" they warned as they leaned down.

"Duck! Duck! Duck!" Wu commanded frantically.

"I'm trying. I can't," Nya worried, her voice getting cut off as the mech got taken by the sign.

The two remaining Serpentine laughed, giving Y/n and Kai the opportunity to throw the snakes off the bus.

Nya quickly recovered from the sign incident and used the thrusters to put Samurai X back on top of the bus. Using her strong metal limb she ripped open the roof of another bus compartment from which an explosion had echoed earlier. Y/n hopped from the roof to join Cole and Nya helped Master Wu down into the bus to join his students.

"Cole. Good to see you," Wu smiled as he dismounted the Samurai X hand.

The Master of Earth turned to his teacher, "Good to see you too."

Jay and Zane approached from the previous train car. The snake-bus began to shake and swerve due to the overheating engine. Cole thanked Y/n internally because normally this would've made him sick, but thanks to the dragon his weak stomach didn't affect him as greatly. Kai, who was still perched on the bus roof, was shaken off and fell into the Nindroid's arms. Kai's face grew red not only from embarrassment but from Zane's soft, innocent face.

"Are you alright?" the Ice Ninja asked and the companion in his arms nodded as they set Kai back on his feet.

The fiery brunette looked through the window into the front of the snake-bus. "One more car to go. Pythor's in there with the four Fangblades," he announced, "Who's first?"

Wu swiftly passed Kai and appeared in the final car of the vehicle. He used the end of his staff to press the button which detached all the cars behind. Y/n leapt across the growing chasm using their claws to land near Wu. The old man could see determination, anger, and sadness in the dragon's eyes. "Stop trying to disappear on me," the hybrid spat, bearing their canines in betrayal.

"Sensei!" Jay called out.

"What are you doing?!" Cole asked, feeling the same betrayal Y/n felt.

"My destiny is to face Pythor without the ninja. Your destiny is to look after Lloyd," the old man answered as he turned to enter the car with Y/n at his heels.

"This is turning into a habit with him," the Master of Fire complained, "How do we get off this thing?"

Jay scoffed "Why does Y/n get to go?! They're like Sensei's damn dog." Cole smacked him upside the head for making a rude comment about Y/n which made the Lightning Ninja yelp.

"This ends now!" Wu announced he stepped through the door and readied his staff to attack. Similarly Y/n's claws were begging to sink into the Anacondrai's scaly flesh.

Pythor slithered towards the duo "So be it."

Wu used his bamboo pole to block hits from the snake's staff. "Ninja, go!" the old man yelled as he performed Spinjitzu which emitted a golden glow. The first attacks were rendered useless but Pythor's last attack managed to hit Wu in the back of the head, disorienting him. The snake used his staff to put Sensei Wu in a headlock and choke him, "You're getting slow, old man," he taunted.

Y/n grabbed the snake by his trachea and whipped his long body toward the front of the train. "Don't touch Sensei, fucking snake," they growled, baring their sharp teeth.

The speeding, flaming vehicle began to tip on its side, throwing its passengers around. When the snake-bus, or what was left of it, crashed Pythor immediately climbed out and made his way to the Lost City of Ouroboros.

Y/n opened their eyes to a throbbing headache. They saw their teacher passed out in front of them. "Sensei," they shook the old man desperately, "Wake up, Sensei.." Wu finally opened his eyes to his student who had a gash on their cheek and a bruise under their eye.

"Y/n," he breathed. His student was always so caring, sometimes he didn't think of how his actions would hurt their feelings but even when the dragon felt betrayed, they treated their teacher kindly. Y/n smiled as they helped Wu onto his feet. They made their way outside but panic ensued when they noticed the green mist emanating from the Lost City of Ouroboros. Pythor had already united the Fangblade in the abandoned city. The Great Devourer was being awakened.

The duo found the Anacondrai at the source of the green mist. "What have you done!?" Wu yelled angrily.

"Don't you see? Releasing the Great Devourer is the only way to get back at the people of Ninjago for locking my kind underground for all those years. We should have been the ones ruling the surface, not you!" the purple snake monologued.

"You are playing with a power that cannot be controlled. It will consume everything, even the Serpentine," Wu warned.

The snake statue which was spewing green liquid began to collapse. Pythor smiled "Unleash, Great Devourer, and be free to do my bidding, for I have awakened you!"

The ground rumbled and the rock floor began caving in. The stones that once resembled a snake were now in a pile on the ground. The Anacondrai looked around nervously "No, no. It isn't inside the statue? Then where is it?" When he looked down into the hole in the ground he made eye contact with the Great Devourer. "Aah! It's so big!" Pythor exclaimed as he tried to slither away.

"Stay here! Watch the consequences of your actions," Y/n demanded as they plunged one of their arrows through the Serpentine's tail and into the dirt, forbidding him from leaving.

The ninja and Nya arrived and saw the giant, glowing eyes in the underground pit. "What's going on? Who's that creature underground?" Kai exclaimed, being the voice for all the ninja.

"You must do everything in your power to stop the Great Devourer. Go, ninja! Go!" Wu commanded as he and Y/n restrained Pythor. Cole and Zane looked worriedly at the dragon they had grown quite fond of. "Y/n?.." Cole whispered to himself. Seeing his teammates' worry Y/n gave a reassuring smile.

Suddenly the Great Devourer burst forth from the ground, a powerful force of destruction. The snake towered like a skyscraper with swampy green scales. It let out a booming roar as it lunged at Wu and Pythor. Y/n gave their teacher a look and the old man nodded. The dragon trusted his judgment and stepped away from the Anacondrai and Wu.
