Here is a potentially silly question: how do you feel about birthstones? Do you think they fit the months (by season or astrological sign)? Do you have other stones you'd rather see as birthstones?
Okay, so, birthstones make absolutely no sense.
Tumblr media
I mean, look at this mess. We’re doing beryl and corundum twice! I get that they get Special Different Names for their Special Different Colors, but it's just lazy. And why are we giving some months cheap, common gemstones like garnet and amethyst while the poor June birthdays have to shell out tens of thousands of dollars for FREAKING ALEXANDRITE? That’s incredibly unfair! We should be picking birthstones that are all roughly the same price. And why do some months get multiple gemstones? I’ll tell you why: because nobody can agree on an official list and every attempt to standardize this thing has just added MORE birthstones to every month.
So obviously the answer is to standardize it again, by throwing out everything and starting over. Here are our goals:
Fair pricing. You should be paying roughly the same amount regardless of what month you were born in. We’re getting rid of those ridiculous outliers like diamond and alexandrite.
More customization potential! Nobody should be stuck with a stone they hate. We’re picking gemstones that come in multiple colors or varieties, so that everyone can choose a variant they like.
Wearability. Some birthstones are too fragile to be worn as jewelry. We need to replace them with stronger stuff.
No more duplicate gemstones. Every month gets a stone or family of stones with a unique chemical composition.
Now without further ado, I present to you:
The New And Improved List Of Birthstones With No Problems Or Flaws That Everyone Will Definitely Agree On And We Can Start Using Right Now Immediately
JANUARY: GARNET
I've got no problem with garnet. It's a fine, classic birthstone, so January can keep it. But I would like to see a little more garnet diversity. January birthdays shouldn’t be confined to just red. The garnet family of minerals contains a rainbow of different colors, like orange hessonite, green uvarovite, pink rhodolite, yellow grandite, and many more. They’re all garnet, so we should be wearing them all!
FEBRUARY: QUARTZ
The original birthstone of February was amethyst, which is… kinda boring. Super cheap and common and you only get one color? No, we can do better. February gets ALL the quartzes now. Keep wearing amethyst if you want, but also feel free to branch out into clear quartz, citrine, rose quartz, smoky quartz, rutilated quartz, tiger eye… actually, take all the agates too. If it’s quartz, it’s yours!
MARCH: SPODUMENE
March was originally aquamarine, but I’ll be giving all the beryls to May, so we need a different stone here. Let’s stick with that theme of pale pastels and go with spodumene. For an April birthday, bedeck yourself in green hiddenite, pink kunzite, or yellow triphane. Despite its subtle colors, your birthstone has some amazing fluorescence, with really cool pinks and oranges under a UV light.
APRIL: FELDSPAR
Diamond is too pricy for this list, so we’re replacing it with something less expensive and way more interesting. April will now be represented by the feldspar family. We’re talking labradorite, moonstone, amazonite, aventurine, and sunstone. While you don’t have much variety in color, your stones are full of shimmery schiller which glitters and shifts as it catches the light.
MAY: BERYL
May’s original birthstone was emerald, which is great and can stay, but we’re also adding its siblings! May is now represented by all beryls: Emerald, Aquamarine, Morganite, Bixbite, Heliodor, Goshenite, and whatever other varieties I’m forgetting to list. A bright and saturated rainbow of colors is represented here, so everyone born in May is sure to find something they like.
JUNE: ORGANIC GEMSTONES AND FOSSILS
It’s time to address the alexandrite in the room, and obviously we’re getting rid of alexandrite. A stone worth $15,000 to $70,000 a carat does not belong on the same list as friggin amethyst. Instead we’ll look at the other traditional June birthstone, pearl. The problem with pearl is that it’s a clear outlier in this list. An organic gemstone, by some definitions not even a mineral. Should we replace it? NO. We are OWNING it. All organic gemstones now belong to June. Pearl is joined here by jet, amber, coral, ivory, ammolite, petrified wood… in fact, June can have every fossil ever.
JULY: SPINEL
July was originally represented by ruby, which is a fine stone and won’t be kicked off the birthstone list - we’re just shuffling it down to September. Replacing ruby for July is spinel. (See, it’s funny because historically spinel has often been mistakenly identified as ruby! That's a little gemology humor for you.) Available in any hue you could possibly desire, spinel offers some nice color options to a month that previously only featured red. Of course if you want to keep wearing red, red spinel mimics ruby so well that you’ll barely notice the difference.
AUGUST: PERIDOT
Nope, we’re not changing this one. Peridot is the ideal gemstone and you ungrateful August whiners can die mad about it. HOW ABOUT YOU LEARN TO APPRECIATE PERFECTION
SEPTEMBER: CORUNDUM
Sapphire is a wonderful, classic stone and it deserves its spot on this list. But the corundum family has been separated for far too long, and we’re finally going to reunite them. Joining sapphire in September is its sister ruby. Between the pinks and reds of ruby and the many, many colors of sapphire, these two stones give September a nice variety of colors.
OCTOBER: TOURMALINE
Look, as gorgeous as opal is and as much as I love it, it is both way too pricy for our list and also TERRIBLE in jewelry. This stone is just too brittle to wear around from day to day and can be ruined just by getting it wet, which makes wearing your birthstone a huge hassle. We’ll kick opal out and hang on to October’s other traditional birthstone, tourmaline. Pink tourmaline may be classic, but this stone comes in plenty of other colors. Whether it’s brown dravite, watermelon elbaite, or the rare and beautiful blue indicolite, you can wear them all!
NOVEMBER: TOPAZ
November can keep topaz, but we’re not confining it to the color yellow. This stone comes in a huge variety of colors, and now they can ALL represent November. No further notes; it’s a nice, classic stone.
DECEMBER: ZIRCON
I dunno, I’ve had to come up with 12 of these, I’m burnt out. Sure, zircon, whatever.
“BUT WAIT,” you say. “Now instead of having a single color assigned to each month, almost every month is represented by almost every color, making it impossible to tell anyone’s birthstones apart and removing what made them special and recognizable as symbols!”
Well CLEARLY you didn’t read the title of this list.

((It's August 6th, which means… it's Morton Day!!
Here are some facts about him:
His full name is Morton Starlight Koopa Jr.
His birthday is April 12th.
He is 13 years old, so he is entering puberty.
His sign is Aries ♈ and his birthstone is diamond, curious because his head is usually as hard as a diamond and also has a similar color.
His height is the same as Wendy's, both being right in the middle.
He is the second heaviest, only surpassed by Roy due to his muscle mass.
It is very difficult for him to "talk", so he raises his voice without realizing it. To mitigate that, he tries to whisper, but that way he doesn't make himself heard very well either. Let's say he is trying.
He shares his name with his grandfather, the former king Morton Sr. and father of Bowser. While it is true that Bowser holds resentment towards his father, he named his son that because, shortly before his father passed away, Bowser was able to reconcile with him, being when Morton Jr. was a baby and had been around for days.
He is left-handed, and he discovered it by accident. All his life he was forced to write with his right hand until Mykey suggested he try.
He didn't know how to read until Mykey taught him. Ludwig had previously tried but couldn't be patient with him.
It's no surprise that Morton likes to eat, except for vegetables and especially spinach. He doesn't know if he'll end up liking it in the future since it doesn't look good to him.
His favorite sweet is chocolate, which is curious since its scales and color in general remind of that candy.
He has a good sense of taste and smell, but being very shy he doesn't always comment on what he perceives. Because of this, Morton has great potential for cooking. It may be that his love of food makes him discover such potential.
At first glance, Morton is overweight; however he doesn't seem to give it much importance, although it is true that it bothers him when people make fun of him. Even so, Morton feels good about himself and about being one of the stronger brothers.
Despite his big jaw, Morton doesn't snore when he sleeps. Plus, Morton spends more time with his mouth closed than open, despite what someone might think.
Happy day, Morton!!
//

Butchy's Basic Info
Tumblr media
Name: Biagio Antonio Bandoni
Now, I must say, it was only hard for me to pick one 60s - Michael Parks 80s - Tom Cruise (Top Gun) 90s - Barry Watson (7th Heaven) now - Cody Christian (All-American)
Nicknames: Butchy, Butch (close friends only), Babs (Lela’s first nickname for him when they were little that sort of stuck through the years), and Forty (his football number in high school that some of the locals call him)
Age: 21
Date of Birth: April 18
Zodiac: Aries
Birthstone: Diamond
Nationality: Italian-American
Sexuality: Straight
Birthplace: Their old family home in Tampa, Florida
Current Residence: Three Palms Point, St. Pete Beach, Florida
Occupation: Mechanic
Talents/Skills: He’s played piano since he was little, he’s great at keeping plants alive (unlike his sister), he can write pretty good poems and short stories if he has the chance to sit and focus, and he can fix almost anything if he puts his mind to it - not just cars and bikes.
Birth order: Oldest of two
Siblings: Lelanna “Lela” Charlotte
Parents: Enzo Ferruccio Bandoni and Stella Valentina Bianchi
Signature:
Tumblr media
Height: 6’2”
Race: White
Eye Color: Brown
Hair Color: Dark brown, almost black
Glasses or contact lenses: Just reading glasses and, though he can read without them, if he goes too long without them, he gets migraines.
Distinguishing features: Multiple injuries from a motorcycle accident, most scars remaining in the area around his shoulder, upper back, and ribcage. Also, he has two tattoos - Mick’s initials under his wedding ring to match the one she has of his initials, and a small moth on his ribcage (a representation of transformation, change, hope, and new beginnings).
Mannerisms: Constantly spinning his wedding ring, running his hands through his hair, and humming while he works on things
Health: He’s in pretty good health, but he gets pain in his back and shoulder when it rains, something he says makes him feel a lot older than he is.
Hobbies: Writing, playing football, drag racing on the weekends with friends (much to Mick’s chagrin), making incredible grilled cheese sandwiches, and playing piano on his days off
Greatest flaw (in their opinion): How stuck in his ways he can be. Butchy likes things the way they are. He’s used to doing things a certain way and he doesn’t like when things go off of their typical course. Butchy likes routine and normality - the usual ebb and flow of life - but when something or someone interrupts the flow of his life, he sometimes struggles to find a way to allow them in. You’d see this a lot when new people are introduced to his life who aren’t directly related to the people he cares about. While he was great at accepting Royce and Bentley into his life, allowing Carrie into the picture was a years-long struggle. Sometimes, he has a harder time letting new things happen, but he’s learning how to handle that at his own pace with the help of those around him.
Best quality (in their opinion): Selflessness. As the designated dad friend of the group, he’s forever putting other’s needs before his own - sometimes to his own detriment - but he’s proud of the fact that everyone sort of turns to him when they need something. They know he’s there for them no matter what and he loves it when someone comes to him, looking for help or even just someone to talk to. Regardless of whether or not he had plans already, he would set nearly anything aside for a friend or family member. His friends constantly come to him when they need help and he can’t help but smile and agree as he feels needed for something. When the kids come up asking him for help with friendship issues or drama problems or, heck, even dating issues, he feels like a proud dad/uncle. It makes him feel complete, in a way, that the people he loves would come to him for help.
Biggest fear: Being unable to protect those he cares about. He first realized this when he and Lela were younger and he found out she was being picked on. Being older and stuck in the next school up from her, he was unable to rush to her aid whenever she needed him, and it hurt. By the time Miles came into the picture, he was taller, stronger, and able to help, but he wasn’t there when Miles got jumped - another tally on the list of people he couldn’t protect. When Mick came around, he originally pushed back the idea of being with her to save himself from letting down someone else. However, that didn’t last long and he’s done everything in his power to keep her safe. When he sees the kids running around town on their bikes, causing their typical mayhem, he wants to join them to make sure nothing happens, but forces himself to stand back with the knowledge that he’ll be there when they fall. He hates the thought of being unable to protect the people he cares about, but he’s working on being able to understand that he can’t surround the whole world in bubble wrap just to make sure nobody gets hurt.
Hogwarts House: Gryffindor
Favorite ice cream: Banana cream pie
Favorite color: Blue
Favorite number: 40, for his football number, and 320, for the date he and Mick got married on - March 20th, the first day of spring.
Favorite songs: You Rang My Bell by Jamey Foxton, Somebody To Love by Queen, and I Was Made for Lovin’ You by KISS
Favorite movies: Die Hard, Forrest Gump, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Deadpool, and Ghostbusters
Favorite TV shows: The Dick Van Dyke Show, Counting Cars, Bonanza, Twin Peaks, and The Golden Girls
Favorite books: Sins of the Father by Vincent B. Davis II, A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin, The Iliad and The Odyssey, To Kill a Mockingbird, and basically anything to do with Sherlock Holmes
Favorite video games: Borderlands, Portal, Ghost of Tsushima
A musical they like: Hadestown
A place they want to visit: Monte Carlo, Monaco

Note
just wanted to thank you for excellent reply to my question and tell you I completely agree with the other responses you made to similar questions you received
I also believe without a doubt that Slut is Matty coded—smoke adorned clothes -would love to think you will not forget- acquamarine ie his birthstone and thorns across the rose ie scratches across his rose tattoo. When we are together is Taylor coded as is Me and You together song -look at the video and yes About You is for her also. Agree with your timeline ie something definitely started happening in 2021 but probably became more serious in early 2022 definitely when they played MSG and when she appeared in London at the O2. Thx for you well versed posts.
Thank you, too! Love discussing these two and their many parallels, especially lyrically! Also, love your interpretation of thorns/tattoos! Admittedly, I don't know much about birthstones, but it appears April might be diamond? Though, in the context of the song, "aquamarine" kind of reminded me of the color of pool water. Interestingly, aquamarine and flamingo pink are common 1975 colors, most associated perhaps with 'A Change of Heart':
Tumblr media
These 1975 tour posters, too, seemed a bit "Slut!"-coded to me in retrospect (make sure you check the dates on these, too!):
Tumblr media
The song "Slut!" reminds me so much of The 1975's official video for 'Sex'. Something about this pair of friends hanging out in hotels and around pools together, unresolved sexual tension… Even the songs, lyrically, seem to represent the male and female perspectives of the same issue.
Like "Slut!", 'Sex' also has some original lyrics that never came to be in the official version we've all come to know and love. Back when they were going by 'Drive Like I Do' and busking around Manchester, there was an additional line at the end:
Sex: Gonna fuck me any day "Slut!": I'm not sayin', "Do it anyway", but you're going to
I'm also reminded of 'Fallingforyou':
FFY: "We'll knock around and see if you're all I need" "Slut!": What if all I need is you?

The most expensive Birthstone Necklaces in the world
https://oragift.shop/collections/birthstone-necklace
Birthstone necklaces are a popular and meaningful gift for any occasion, as they can represent the personality, traits, and preferences of the wearer. However, some Ora Gift Birthstone Necklaces are more than just a sentimental accessory, they are also a rare and valuable treasure that can fetch millions of dollars in the market. In this blog post, we will take a look at some of the most expensive birthstone necklaces ever sold, and what makes them so unique and desirable.
The Apollo and Artemis Diamonds - $57.4 Million
The most expensive birthstone necklace in the world is the Apollo and Artemis Diamonds, which sold for a staggering $57.4 million at Sotheby's Geneva in 2017 The necklace is a pair of mismatched diamonds, one blue and one pink, that are set in white gold and surrounded by smaller diamonds. Check out some birthstone necklaces.
The blue diamond, named Apollo, weighs 14.54 carats and is the largest internally flawless fancy vivid blue diamond ever to be offered at auction. The pink diamond, named Artemis, weighs 16 carats and is the largest internally flawless fancy intense pink diamond ever to be sold at auction. The necklace was purchased by an anonymous buyer, who renamed them The Memory of Autumn Leaves and The Dream of Pink Sakura, respectively.
The Apollo and Artemis Diamonds are the perfect birthstone necklace for anyone born in April or October, as diamonds are the birthstones for these months. Diamonds are also the symbol of love, purity, and eternity, and they are the most sought-after and valuable gemstones in the world. The blue and pink colors of the diamonds add to their rarity and beauty, as they are caused by natural defects in the crystal structure that affect the way light is absorbed and reflected. The Apollo and Artemis Diamonds are truly a masterpiece of nature and art, and they are the most expensive birthstone necklace in the world.
The Miroir de l'Amour - $17.7 Million
The second most expensive birthstone necklace in the world is the Miroir de l'Amour, which sold for $17.7 million at Christie's Geneva in 2016 The necklace is a pair of pear-shaped diamonds, weighing 52.55 and 50.47 carats, that are set in yellow gold and mounted as pendants. The diamonds are the largest D-color flawless pear-shaped diamonds ever to appear at auction, and they have excellent symmetry and polish. The necklace was created by Boehmer et Bassenge, a Parisian jewelry house that specializes in exceptional diamonds. The necklace was bought by an anonymous buyer, who paid a record price per carat for pear-shaped diamonds.
The Miroir de l'Amour is another stunning birthstone necklace for anyone born in April, as diamonds are the birthstones for this month. Diamonds are also the symbol of strength, courage, and invincibility, and they are the hardest natural substance on Earth. The pear shape of the diamonds is also known as the teardrop shape, and it is said to represent tears of joy, happiness, and love. The Miroir de l'Amour is a dazzling and elegant birthstone necklace, and it is the second most expensive birthstone necklace in the world.
The Heart of the Ocean - $10 Million
The third most expensive birthstone necklace in the world is the Heart of the Ocean, which sold for $10 million at a charity auction in 2018 The necklace is inspired by the famous necklace from the movie Titanic, which was worn by Kate Winslet's character, Rose. The necklace is made of platinum and features a 15-carat heart-shaped blue diamond, surrounded by 65 smaller diamonds, totaling 20 carats. The necklace also has a delicate chain of diamonds that wraps around the neck, adding more sparkle and glamour to the accessory. The necklace was created by jeweler Harry Winston, in 2018, for actress and singer Selena Gomez, who is a fan of the movie and the necklace. She donated the necklace to the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, which supports environmental causes.
The Heart of the Ocean is a beautiful birthstone necklace for anyone born in September, as sapphires are the birthstones for this month. Sapphires are also the symbol of wisdom, loyalty, and faith, and they are the second hardest gemstones after diamonds. The blue color of the sapphire is also associated with the sky and the sea, and it is said to bring peace, calm, and harmony. The Heart of the Ocean is a tribute to the iconic movie and the timeless romance between Jack and Rose, and it is the third most expensive birthstone necklace in the world.

Dawn of Redeeming Grace [15/23]
Title: Chapter 15: Diamond Heart Swinging on a Star || FFN
Rating: NC-17/Explicit
Pairings: Meredith Grey/Derek Shepherd
Six weeks after Derek left to take the NIH job, Meredith is ready to use the holidays to prove she has this working mom thing on lock. Sure, he neglected to tell her he'd be bringing a guest, but whatever, 'Tis the season for truces. Even Ellis Grey took the day off. But with every moment of family togetherness, a return to the trenches seems more impossible. Can a few days of peace put their relationship back on track, or has she fallen for the illusion of a snow-globe, destined to either settle or shatter?
Dawn of Redeeming Grace|| FFN
Tumblr media
I was editing-this-chapter-years old when I put together that NIMH was the National Institute of Mental Health. We all grow up at our own pace, something Meredith understands, and is still coming to grips with. I’ve gone into her Ann Taylor wardrobe in I Can Haz Cheeseburger, but I imagine not all Mer/Der shippers have read my Mer/Callie PWP, although it is still Mer/Der friendly. In it, Callie mocks Meredith’s clothing choices—she claims she was a riot grrrl?! and Meredith explains why taking on grown-up rebel a la Callie was not something she’d considered possible.
“Why bother, then? We were rarely in street clothes.” “Because,” Meredith said, gesturing decisively. “It’s what you…look, my mind, at the time it was kind of…bifurcated. I was serious, going-to-be-a-doctor Meredith, and that meant putting aside riot grrrl Meredith, and never the two shall meet. It took a while for me to realize that was bullshit, and in the meantime, yeah, I wore clothes I felt awkward in, and really great shoes that killed me. Thank goodness shoulder pads had died.”
We rarely see her wearing jewelry, and I’ve enjoyed exploring that. It’s one reason I cast her as riot grrl and not goth as a 90s teenager who “wore a lot of black” and had “angry pink hair.” Extra piercings were a mainstay of either life. That she rarely even wears single earrings in her lobes makes me see her as doing the exact opposite when she was younger. Why? Because she genuinely seems to have accepted that Ellis could believe everything about her was antithetical to going through with med school. I can also see her collecting rings, bracelets, all the things her mother would have to remove over and over in a day as a symbol of her own “freedom.” Then, once she has to present “as a doctor,” she rejects her personal style.
Consider what she wears on the day Ellis is lucid. The soft lavender sweater over a button-down. It’s very Massachusetts posh. It’s also a mirror of Derek’s usual outfit. She’s comfortable in it, and that is likely one of the things that throws Ellis for such a loop. (I think it’s notable that we see her wearing more skirts, while Meredith prefers pantsuits, and her femininity is reflected in color. She’d see Addison’s choices as not assimilating more than what I bet she called “boyishness.")
If you’ve read the Queen's Thief series, yes sending a message with earrings is something I yoinked from there. It’s not a totally original trope, but that’s what I think of.
The necklace in the manip isn’t exactly what I have in mind for the set Derek gave Meredith for their first Christmas and her thirtieth birthday, but it’s close. The stones would be a little closer to ruby colored, though not rubies. I had no idea what the birthstone would be when I set Meredith’s birthday in April, but a diamond is perfect. Black diamonds are a Meredith Grey twist on that.
I swear there was another company in the '10’s doing bracelets that involved adding flat links à la Nomination in the 90’s. I thought it was Pandora, but they’re all ordinary charm bracelet style. That’d be way too dangly and fiddly for Meredith. And I like the idea of Derek using Christmas to give her things she missed, even when it’s not as obvious as a gift from “Santa” or filling a stocking with toys and candy (he totally did that one year. another year, he gave her an ornament every day of December, advent calendar style.)
This chapter also low-key establishes that Derek isn’t happy at the NIH. With the work, sure, but if he was happy otherwise, Renee wouldn’t have been a situation. He didn’t like being Chief, but April was a non-issue, because he and Meredith were happy. (And April was April, but I’m sure she wasn’t the only one crushing on the Interim Chief.) At heart, he’s a family guy, and even at only six weeks, the kids would be showing signs of seeing Mommy as a primary caregiver and Daddy as a visitor. Canonically, that could’ve wrested them further apart.
Her people showing up for the holiday is also forcing Meredith to wonder what the coming-back-together means in her “real life,” if it can mean anything. Again, she’s not where she’d be by “Don’t Dream It’s Over.” Not as sure of herself as a surgeon or a mom. Alex, of course, gets her freaking out, but that’s what he’s around for. He went with the tire swing idea because it would give them an excuse to stay outside if inside made it feel too much like Mer or Shepherd was a bomb about to go off.
Putting April’s fail wedding in December is a choice; it could be January.

I own a hoodie that isn’t black. I’m afraid that I won’t have enough money in the future. I’m afraid that I’ll never find someone to be with forever. I’ve smoked more than one cigarette today. I hung out with a friend today. My best friend’s name starts with a J. (let's say, my husband's middle name starts with J) I’m not sure if I like someone right now. The cheerleaders at my school suck at cheerleading. I hate how on Firefox, you can’t use ctrl+B to bold things. I’ve used a typewriter. I never liked the Spice Girls. I still don’t like Britney Spears. I thought Kristen Stewart did a terrible job acting in Twilight. I think Jasper’s hotter than Edward in the movie, too I want to see Four Christmases. I often think that I would get along well with characters in movies, books, TV shows, etc. We have senior projects at my school. I haven’t taken my SATs yet. Hardly any colleges around here have my major. I want to major, or I do major, in English. My birthstone is a shade of green. I hate winter. My favorite month is May I’m friends with someone three years older than me or more. I’ve seen dirty pictures on a friend’s cell phone. I have weak knees. I love Jalapeno Cheetos. Salsa is better at restaurants than when you buy it in jars. The mall closest to me has only a few good stores. I think reindeer are cute. I never really cared for the movie Bambi. I don’t think I would enjoy pool quite as much if the balls weren’t so colorful. I like Rosie O’Donnell. But I got really tired of hearing about her. My car has no bumper stickers. I don’t own any key chains. I like my homeroom teacher more than any of my other teachers. I own a pair of purple gloves. I had soup on Thanksgiving. I don’t like marshmallows. I have a Deviant Art account. But I never put pictures on it. I used to love Eminem. But now I don’t really like him that much. I know all the words to Baby Got Back. I know someone who’s never heard of Katy Perry. I actually like some country. I hate American Idol. It’s only entertaining when the singers are really bad. My mom sings, loudly & terribly, all the time. It’s embarrassing. I know someone who’s at least eighteen & doesn’t have a driver’s license. (yeah me) I know someone who doesn’t have a middle name. I wonder what the point of Leap Years is. My mom’s birthday is in July. My dad’s birthday is in January. My sister’s birthday is in February. My brother’s birthday is in April. My birthday is in August. I have half siblings. I wish I lived somewhere warmer. I was born in March. Batman is my hero. I’m very ticklish. Loud music makes me happy. I get stage fright very easily. I’ve never been to New York City. I draw hearts on the side of my paper when i’m bored. I’ve dropped my cell phone numerous times.

Diamond the April Birthstone and Other Great Alternatives
Tumblr media
April Birthstone: Reason Why Diamond was Chosen and the Accessible Alternatives
Among all gemstones, diamond is unarguably the most recognized. Why is it selected to represent April, and what are other great alternatives? Read on to found out more! Remember to enjoy a FREE April birthstone necklace and 25% off with coupon code APR252023
Even for those who don’t pay attention to the jewelry world, diamond is well-known and got to be the most popular gemstone, consequently most would know by heart that it is the birthstone of April. Incredible as they are, diamond is also one of the most expensive material on earth; a paradox for those who have love ones born in the month. Imagine buying a birthstone as gift, April is by far the most expensive among all 12 months. However as traditions become modernized, nowadays we also consider other alternatives as April birthstones. Moissanite and clear quartz are great nominee due to their transparency and likeliness to diamond.
Tumblr media
April’s Astrology, Zodiacs and Diamond
Before we get into the alternatives, let us explore why diamond was selected as April birthstone in the first place. There are many stories and rumors as to why diamond was clowned to represent April (the similar situation would apply to all 12 months). The most possible explanation points to astrology. The Zodiac signs of April are Aries (March 20-April 20) and Taurus (April 21-May 21), which are respectively rule by the planet Mars (symbolize fire) and Venus (symbolize light). Diamond being a clear and brilliance gemstone* is the perfect embodiment for both fire and light. Resonates with both zodiac and thus was adequately clowned as the birthstone of April. (*diamond actually comes in a wide range of colors, from the rarest red to the relatively common yellow, however the more popular color and common perception is still its clear white version)

Clear Quartz as a Subtle Version for April Birthstone
They say the judgement of beauty all boils down to a matter of personal taste. If the fiery glitter of Moissanite is too flamboyant for you, clear quartz is another wonderful alternative with its low-key and quiet appearance. Also known as rock crystal or white quartz, this gemstone resembles diamond with high transparency when faceted cut and polish. Key difference is quartz presents a subtle and reserved brilliancy. If you are pushing for a purist aesthetic, then the beaded cut version of quartz might be even better choice. Looks like a miniature crystal ball, stunning for its subtle beauty favored by the minimalist at heart. Also worth mentioning is within the crystal healing and reiki community, clear quartz is regard as a very powerful stone for the amplification of energy.
