I’m not sure why this made me think of winners room au with Lewis, Charles and Oscar but yet here we are

• I can just imagine, Ferrari getting a 1-2 and it’s their first of the season so obviously it’s all glitz and glamour and everyone associated with Ferrari is SO happy

• per the F1 mandated rules a Teams 1-2 means the drivers can either use each other OR they can choose a threesome

• so obviously Charles and Lewis are expected to only go with each other but cmon these two have explored each others body plentiful during winter break already

• yet the logistics of this are a bit difficult, Lewis doesn’t want certain people, Charles doesn’t want certain people and they both want to feel comfortable with the person

• So their list keeps getting shorter and both of them are in the mood to handle out control, both Charles AND Lewis have experience with other drivers so they know who’s not gonna submit to them

• they finally land on a safe option: Oscar

• Young Oscar with his bunny teeth who already took Charles in his mouth, blissfully gone in the head the whole time. With a look up to the monegasque that Charles lets out a mournful grunt while recounting the memory to Lewis

• they give their choices to the person handling the winners room and after an hour a freshly showered Oscar gets delivered to their room

• he’s all flushed and shy, while both the Ferrari drivers are lounging on the bed drinking wine

• I’m sure Charles will do the first move, impatient that he is, gesturing the younger to him. Making him kneel before the bed, laying the Aussies head on his thighs and scruffing him at the neck. And Oscar will make the PRETTIEST sounds, all high pitched and whimpery

• Charles will just be like “you see lew? he’s SO willing to submit, it’s rather easy” and the Brit will just laugh with that deep chuckle of his, all while Oscar keeps whining still so flustered and now even a bit ashamed of how easily riled up he must look

• they make Oscar do all kinds of positions but the youngest LOVES being scruffed and then taken from behind, doggy style and all. He’s so gooey in the head and his eyes aren’t focusing that he doesn’t even see Charles coming up from behind to his head. His mouth is already wide open, so it would really just be a shame if Charles let that go to waste now would he

You need to read the line to see how that driver is calling the ones in the columns.

Some conclusions :

Lando and Lewis are mostly referenced by their names as his Zhou but that's a specific case.

Checo and Danny have nicknames

Charles went all out on the name/surname combo

Max, Logan, Alex and Estie loves calling the others by their names only

Lando uses surnames unless your his friend, (ex)teammate or Lewis

Oscar uses surnames unless your Max, Lando, Logan or Zhou

George says Lance but Lance says Russell

Nico called George "Georgie" (while saying he has feminine lips...so what you want with that!)

an: here’s a little bit of angst a little bit of fluff and me holding myself back from making osc x reader x lan a poly ship😭 disclaimer: this isn’t an accurate reflection of the events of the Hungary GP. i take creative liberties as usual! and sorry to lewis. it’s still a mercedes P3 i guess😭 also here are my thoughts on the race so nothing is misconstrued here. AND gif credit because it keeps disappearing!

I. I choked on such longing I couldn’t spit out

Oscar crosses the finish line in Hungary and it’s fine.

It’s fine.

Y’know, fine in the way where there’s this feeling in his chest. This thing gnawing at his insides. At his gut. And maybe it’s his helmet, maybe it’s the temperature, but there’s something on his cheeks. Heat. Something burning. Maybe.

His mind goes immediately to those clips he’d seen of Lando’s onboard in Miami. The shrill little giggles, the high-pitch of his teammates voice, the cheer of the crowd faintly in the background. Crackle hiss—

No one’s cheering for Oscar—

Tom is on the radio.

Oscar’s not stupid, not by a long shot. He can hear the strained quality of it, the forced cheerfulness.

Yeah. Oscar apologises before he can think twice about it. It just slips out of him. He thinks of you telling him— on a Tuesday night two weeks ago— that he needed to “stop saying sorry so fucking much, Oscar”. The way he’d been distracted by his name in your mouth. Oscar. Not Osc like he’s used to, or the occasional Oscie you’re prone to throw out. Oscar. Like you were serious.

Whatever. He says something to Tom that his publicist would be proud of. Waves at the grandstands. Tries not to think, not like this. I didn’t want it like this.

A sigh leeches out of him. Lando’s car is in his periphery and you’re trailing behind him as the three of you turn. The three of you on a podium… it’s a dream come true for him. But— yeah— not like this.

He’s in the car for too long. Helmet on his head, where no one can see his face. He’s okay, he thinks. He’s fine.

He thinks of being a little kid at Albert Park. Watching F1 in the living room late at night. Getting in a kart for the first time and feeling alive. And okay—

Yes, there’s a sour taste in his mouth. Words unsaid sitting on his tongue. But he’s starting to feel the smile tugging at his lips. The feeling is his chest starts to ease, just a little. Just a bit.

He’s looking up and there’s you and there’s Lando. You’re on opposite sides of the car, Lando’s reaching for him, for his hand. Clutching it tightly. Lando squeezes once, his helmet covered face bobs in a nod that says something… part of Oscar hopes it’s I’m sorry. Another part of him is mad that it may not be.

And you, well you have no idea the half hour he’s just had. But your hand is on his shoulder and then on the top of his helmet and you’re whacking it with a gusto he hadn’t expected. He thinks you might be crying. You keep reaching in through your visor to wipe at your eyes and it’s making Oscar feel sick. You’re crying and he’s sitting here feeling sorry for himself because the win wasn’t perfect.

Fuck.

So Oscar grins and he bears it.

He gets out of the car and he smooths it over until everything is okay again. Because that’s what he’s good at. Because that’s how he’s made it here. Oscar Piastri is a team player, sometimes more than he is anything else. And that’s okay, that’s fine for now, because one day, eventually, Oscar is going to be the reason they need to hire a team player. One day he’ll be the beating heart of some Formula One team and he won’t have to win a race because his teammate had to let him by—

That’s not Lando’s fault either. Lando is…

He’s Lando. Oscar gets it.

Oscar gets it more than anyone.

II. I am obsessive. I contain nothing but the replay

Lando is trying so fucking hard not to have a tantrum.

It’s this infuriating feedback loop where he thinks I had it and then something cuts in to say but Oscar deserved it and then it starts over again. It’s making Lando feel like shit, for losing, for being a bad friend, for jeopardising the relative peace of the team. He’s trying to temper the angry, selfish little spoiled brat voice in his head but it’s so fucking hard to keep that dog on a leash.

He’s trying to be okay.

He’s in the post-race room with you and he’s trying to be fine.

And okay, so he knocks the stupid second place cap to the ground in front of the camera that’s broadcasting you guys to the world. Always second. God. He’d tasted a win in Miami and it’s almost like he’s worse off for it. It’s a win or it’s nothing and it’s tearing him apart from the inside out. There’s a voice in his head that’s saying, you’re just a one trick pony, Lando. Do it again and you might be worth something.

It’s making him crazy.

He bites his tongue. Turns to look at you, lounging in the third place chair like it doesn’t matter, like you’re happy to just be on the podium.

You raise an eyebrow at him, face blank but he knows what it says anyway. Be happy for him. He would be happy for you.

Fuck, and he would—

He would. Selfless and kind above all, Oscar.

Lando frowns, his back to the lens.

Your gaze flicks from him, to the hat on the floor. Pick it up, it says. Pick it up and pretend.

Lando picks it up. He’s the one who gave Oscar the position back after all. He’s his own worst enemy right now. Not you, certainly not Oscar—

Speaking of Oscar.

He’s here. He’s holding the first place cap that Lando wants to be his, he’s putting it on his head and Lando’s okay. Lando’s fine. He’s watching the race replay and seeing Max turn into your car and he’s trying desperately to look at that, pay attention to that, and not Oscar.

Because it hurts.

Not in a good way, not the way Lando looks at him sometimes and feels some yawning sun in his chest.

Instead there’s something bitter and snarling.

Some chained, angry dog on a leash.

Lando turns, goes to sit in the chair he doesn’t want to sit in, and catches Oscar’s eye. He feels the snarling thing strain, it goes to bark, to bite. Then Oscar smiles. It’s not much— it doesn’t reach his eyes exactly. But it’s effort. It’s thank you. It’s I know what that meant.

It’s enough.

III. He forgives you, dogs are like that, so loyal

You know something is off the second that you get out of the car. This isn’t what Oscar’s maiden win is supposed to look like— or it almost is, but the picture is wrong.

It’s not ecstatic, it’s not crowds chanting his name, it’s not Oscar getting out of the car like a shot and jumping into the arms of his team.

Instead, you see grim faces plastered over with smiles, McLaren engineers huddled into groups and talking in hushed tones. Lando’s sulking, you can tell by the set of his shoulders, the way people hover around him, keeping their distance a bit. You blink— there’s something in your eyes, your nose tingling with some emotion—

Whatever. You push it aside, go to Oscar’s car before anything else, before even taking your helmet off. It's you and Lando on opposite sides and whatever the case, whatever happened out there that you're not aware of, Lando's here. Lando's sucking it up.

You find out bits and pieces over the next hour, from your race engineer, from the post-race interviews, from Lando's attitude in the cool down room. The tension between them is bleeding into everything and they orbit around each other all afternoon. They can't quite look at each other, they keep making eye contact for a split second and then letting it slide away. They keep smiling these strained things at each other. Lando keeps reaching out to touch Oscar, but always at arms length. Like an apology neither of them can quite commit to.

You know it's the team that are the issue and it's also this hurt that Lando can't quite get over, and an Oscar who is trying to just be happy but needs more time to get there.

It's making your heart ache.

You've dreamt of this, stupidly enough. Oscar on the top step of the podium, that bunny-tooth grin of his spreading and spreading. Champagne and confetti. You're there, of course you're there. Lando is too. So it's painful to have that dream actualised and to realise it's not perfect— because, well, nothing ever is.

And it's fucking unfortunate.

But it's them. So it's fine.

You're baffled by that sometimes. You still hold grudges against old teammates. There are things you'll never forgive them for, wounds that will never heal. But you come back from your frustratingly long debrief and find them doubled over outside their driver's room, giggling their heads off at something. It's not perfect, there's still something between them, something in the air.

But they're trying.

And Oscar is smiling wider than you've seen in a long while.

So for Oscar's sake you push it aside—

It's always a little different away from prying eyes, away from rolling cameras, in front of which you feel pressure to act like Oscar and Lando are first and foremost your rivals. When they're gone they can just be your friends. Your boys.

Naturally, you're thudding into Oscar before he really notices you're there. Too busy throwing his head back at something Lando had said. He's still in champagne wet fireproofs as you reach your arms around his shoulders, but so are you. He smells vaguely like a wet dog and lets out a soft oft noise as you charge into him.

"Hey, race winner," you say as he threads his arms around your waist.

You put your forehead on his collarbone, close your eyes as a laugh flutters out of him. You hear it rumble in his chest as he rocks the two of you gently from side to side. It's giggly, light and joyful like the one he does when he's tipsy. But he's not tipsy, just happy you think.

"Race winner," he mumbles, low, quiet, to himself more than anything, "Yeah."

"Yeah," you whisper back.

You're like that maybe for too long. Longer than people who are just friends should be. You can hear Lando moving around behind you, asphalt grinding under his feet. His gaze prickling the back of your neck. Eventually, you pull away. You slide your hands to grip Oscar's shoulders, fingertips pressing into warm skin, lean up and press a kiss to his cheek. Accidentally, your lips land too close to the corner of his mouth, brushing against stubble and sweat. You hear something soft escape his lips, barely audible as his brown eyes bore into yours. Pupils blown large, gaze drifting momentarily down to your lips.

"Good job today, Osc," you say, trying not to let your breath hitch.

You pull away a little before he does something in the heat of the moment— and right in front of Lando, of all people. He's high on adrenaline, that's all. That's all.

"Thank you," he smiles, all teeth.

You feel hot all the way down your neck, into your chest. Hm, premature menopause, you think, rather than the obvious— which is that it makes you mega nervous to be that close to Oscar Piastri.

Lando clears his throat.

In a jerky, surprised movement you step away from Oscar, while Oscar fumbles awkwardly for his phone in his pocket. He holds it up, says something stumbling about calling his family and then takes only maybe five steps away before you or Lando can say a thing.

You laugh, just a little.

Then do a pleased little spin to face Lando.

Who seems better, lighter. At least in comparison to how he was immediately post-race. Which you’re glad to see. Especially after catching bits of his team radio from a brief conversation with George. You’re not particularly happy about it, but it’s not really your place to be upset.

“Hey,” you smile warmly.

He smiles back, tighter than you’d hoped.

You move a bit closer into his personal space, watching him carefully. It’s okay you think. He’s more subdued than usual, but you can’t see the seething thing that was under his skin earlier. That would be fine of course, he’s entitled to that, but his sake you’re glad it’s gone.

“You okay?”, you ask.

Lando nods, eyes falling closed momentarily as he hums contemplatively, “‘M okay. Happy for him.”

You nod, stepping closer to pull him into a one armed hug that’s not quite as energetic as the one you’d given Oscar before.

“Yeah,” you say quietly, pressing the side of your face into his cheek, “Upset too?”

He hums again, sighs, “Yeah. ‘Course.”

“Yeah,” because you get it,

Maybe not in these exact circumstances. But you know what it’s like. To chase a win with everything you have, to fall short after it’s been in your grasp. You understand that. So does Oscar—

Speaking of.

Oscar’s back, footsteps crunching asphalt behind you.

“They’re asleep,” he explains, “I’ll talk to them later.”

You half let Lando go, moving to accommodate the race winner into your little circle. They’re a bit weird about it, shuffling into place awkwardly, you’re not surprised after a day like today, but you persevere— wrapping arms around both of them and pulling them simultaneously down into a haphazard hug that you’re in the middle of.

Lando’s face is in your neck somehow, mumbling something about you being overbearing while his hand clutches at your waist to keep himself upright. Oscar’s arm is tight around your shoulders and your face is squished up against his chest. You squeeze tightly— let them go when it’s been a minute too long—

You can feel yourself almost getting caught up in the tangle of limbs. The warmth of your friends. The emotion of it. You think there’s something stuck in your eye again, something wet in your tear ducts.

You sniff, try to ignore it, hope they don’t see.

Then, stupid observant Oscar, “Are you crying?”

You let out an offended noise and shake your head to deny it, but instead something that’s almost a sob, but not quite, slips out—

“No,” you declare, but it’s unconvincing—

and then you’re back in the hug. All sweat and sticky champagne residue, Lando’s too-strong cologne and Oscar who smells like burnt rubber. And it’s not perfect, because nothing ever is, but it’s enough for you.

this was really cathartic for me to be honest. just needed my little driver!reader to hug landoscar after that race. needed to get some big feelings out and then needed a sweet little fluff section to make me feel better.

my faves with my faves. mercedes aren't a national institution/emotion (ferrari), a team (red bull racing), a villains' lair (ashton martin) or a pop band (mclaren) but a family. a dysfunctional, awkward, barely concealed hot mess of a family, but family nonetheless. chasing victory while trying to survive the horrors of life and each other is the merc way and you will see the same in this trilogy. *toto voice* loyalty!

picked this based on vibes, just pure vibes but immaculate ones. the drama, the glitz, the glam yes but also the family, friendship, and love found within the pages of this series. this is british gossip girl. i am telling you there is a vision here people.

(+ bonus review because this might be the only book on this list that has less (3.84) than 4+ stars on goodreads and i can't do him and y'all dirty like that: i personally didn't love the first book but the series really comes together and you truly get invested in these characters and their happiness, actually pretty excited to read more.

wow like you think he didn't step out of a magical retelling of 1001 nights? mhm but let's leave aside the fact i am still not convinced otherwise. carlos this year has shown his insane mega ultra galaxy brain, so i believe the plot of the wrath & the dawn would be something that would resonate with you. the quick wit and guile of the mc as she tries to carry out a revenge plot while trying to not get executed is only comparable to carlos coming up with his own race strategy mid race and cementing himself as the only non-rbr race winner in 2023. wow.

How long have you been into F1?: I started watching it properly from 2019, but I've been a fan of Sebastian Vettel for much longer from watching parts of post interviews on TV.

Help Needed - Fic Rec Volunteer

I need some help!

Please reblog this so it can reach more people. 🤍

This blog has received some truly wonderful feedback, including that it is a useful resource, and I am desperate to keep it going.

As you may have noticed, though, posting has definitely trailed off a little bit! That is mainly because I am just one person, with a busy job and a few new hobbies to contend with.

I am, therefore, looking for 1 - 5 volunteers to help me with the research, requesting, and formatting of this blog. If by some miracle I am inundated with requests to help, I may not be able to take on everyone, as this would become hard to manage.

Please see below for full details. It is really important that you read through the Important Points section before putting your name forward. 😊

What would I be doing?

You would be putting forward fics to include on the fic rec lists on the @f1crecs blog, based on a given prompt. This could be a pairing (maxiel/piarles/strollonso) or a trope (soulmates/coffee shop au/canon divergence). This would include you selecting a favourite quote from the fic, as well as a brief summary of why you enjoyed it.

How would it work?

🔸️ We would communicate on a Discord server.

🔸️ I would receive requests for rec lists through the blog's inbox, and share them in the Discord server.

🔸️ We would have channels to work together to compile the lists.

🔸️ We would decide together on a banner image and any other text needed.

🔸️ I would format the post and publish to the blog, crediting you in the body of the post.

🔸️ I imagine we'd work on five or so requests at a time, dependent on numbers. 😊

What pairings do you need help with?

All of them! I am looking for support with all pairings and tropes - I believe that rec blogs are stronger when run by a team, as they have more eyes and are less likely to forget or miss something. 😊

Reasons: Because why not? They have the chemistry, they have the potential, they have their own thing going on every now and then- give me a good reason to not ship these dorks.

6. Napoleon Solo x Illya Kuryakin [ Ship Name: Napollya / Illeon]

Fandom: The Man From U.N.C.L.E. [movie 2015]

Reason: Pure Grumpy x Sunshine trope. Illya is shot tempered and keeps himself isolated most of the time, but Napoleon knows how to get under his skin (👀) and adores his Red Peril to death. I mean, he literally jumped in those deep waters to save his life- what more prrpf do you need?

5. Charles Leclerc x Max Verstappen [ Ship Name: Lestappen/Verleclerc ]

Fandom: Formula 1 RPF

Reason: Seriously? You need a reason? Aren't those subtle touches on Charles' lower back after the podiums, or even when they're close to each other, not enough? Isn't that habit of Max not being able to stand in one place after seeing his favorite Ferrari boy enough? Isn't their inability to not mention each other once in every interview ever enough? They're the definition of "Love is blind"

4. Mika Häkkinen x Michael Schumacher [Ship Name: Makkinen/ Mikael]

Fandom: Formula 1 RPF

Reasons: The classic Finn x German trope. They say they're not friends yet can't seem to leave each other alone. They basically defined each other's lives in the sport and outside of it by staying side by side in every battle. A win wouldn't feel like a win to any of them if not snatched by the other one.

3. Carlos Sainz Jr x Lando Norris [ Ship Name: Carlando / Muppet Friends ]

Fandom: Formula 1 RPF

Reasons: THEY'RE MY COMFORT SHIP!!!! They take care of each other, mention each other everywhere, go on golf dates (and dates) with each other, spend time with each other on family weddings/holidays and even after it's been three years since Carlos switched teams, their bond keeps on getting deeper and deeper. And these two were the ones people initially thought would not get along. They proved everyone wrong, and still are. I personally believe both of them progressed a lot as a personality after meeting each other. Specially in Lando's case- He's a big brother to Oscar now. Carlando for life!

2. Nico Rosberg x Lewis Hamilton [ Ship Name: Brocedes / Rosmilton ]

Fandom: Formula 1 RPF

Reasons: REASONS??? FOR WHAT EXACTLY??? Both of them come from two totally different worlds and background - one with everything and one with almost nothing. Nico grew up in a lavish lifestyle but he established that friendship doesn't care about your background. It's just friendship. And he had his fair share with Lewis, a little boy from the UK who found a friend in a place and time he least expected to be. They went on vacations together, raced each other as teammates - both in karting and F1, which was a dream they both promised each other of when they were practically babies. But the same dream tore them apart later in life and they're so close and yet so far. And the fact that it's not fictional is just tragic.

I would say It's called: Free fall, just because I did let a lot open to interpretation, I think all my fics have a closed ending or something that lets you know I will go back to them. This one is very much open, None of us knows what happened to Toto, and I'm not sure if i was obvious enough highlighting that Lewis was god. Aside from that maybe Honey please try to love me as it is an unfinished work that started and ended with a break up

reasons: from the first moment i saw them together i knew there was SOMETHING about them. like genuinely the way they look at each other makes me literally go “😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫” irl it’s not even funny. also the fics for this ship are soooooo good it’s insane like some of them capture them sosososo well??? and also i want both of them to like genuinely be happy and i think they would be the happiest with each other!!!

reasons: ferrari boys 2: electric boogaloo. honestly the more i see their interactions the more i question if they are like actually kinda gay for each other bc like some of their moments are very suspicious like 😵‍💫 they call each other baby all the time, carlos has called charles love, they ALWAYS have to be touching each other, they are always giggly and blushy around each other etc etc. honestly i love them sooooo much and i am not prepared to see them being separated as teammates 😭

reasons: there is just so much i have to say about them bc like they are literally so important to me it’s insane but i’ll try to keep this as short as possible.

they have the best trope (grumpy x sunshine is the best idc about what anyone says, but also specifically the “i am supposed to be the iceman, but you are my sunshine and you melted the ice around my heart” is sooooo LSMSNSNE I CAN’T), the best and longest friendship (20 years as of 2023 technically, every time something happened between them they resolved it asap. goals fr fr) AND the chemistry of a couple that has been married for an ungodly amount of time (and are still very much in love might i add). also they have many children together so there is that (charles, lance, antonio, mick, lando etc etc they are way too many). so yeah they are just better you know?

also there is SO MUCH MORE to say but i don’t want to cry today (nor do i want to annoy anyone lol) so i gotta stop here lol

A Tommy head canon

If he has a s/o who likes reading he has them read to him when he is stressed or wants calmed or just wants to relax with his s/o

he likes stories by Arthur Conan Doyle, Robert Louis Stevenson, Daniel Defoe , stories about far away lands, crime and exciting events

he likes his s/o playing with his hair, having his s/o sit on his lap or cuddled in bed together in private.

when he gets wealthy he makes his s/o a private library and fills it with his s/o favourite books, and some of his too. there is a comfy sofa in the library where they read in private together when Tommy is not working.

his s/o gets him reading more and it helps him in business, crime and politics.

he gets his s/o first editions, even signed copies.

Whatever book his s/o wanted he’d find it

When they had a child, Tommy loved seeing his s/o reading to their little one, knitting and sewing dolls, animals and other things from their stories. Tommy is sure their child has one of each character from Beatrix Potter’s books

Tommy usually gets interrupted by their toddler later on in his home office, stumbling in with a book and sewn toy in hand. He can’t say no and he ends up reading the book with his child.

His s/o usually finds Tommy and their child from birth through the years, asleep together and an open book lying forgotten

I simply adore this. Thank you for sharing it with me! Here is a little blurb that I thought up while reading that.

Date a girl who reads. That's advice he'd give to his son one day.

The life Tommy chose was on an easy one. He didn't have the time on his hands to do things a usual husband would do.

The evenings with you were blissful, he never sat in his study alone. You were always close by working on something. Most nights he would give up, coming to sit next you on the couch in front of the fire. You would come and curl up in his lap, silently hand him the book.

This was a part of their life that needed no words, he took up from the top of the page. His other hand tangling in your hair.

This act of love was what saved them after the war.

He was wishing he'd died in the depths of those tunnels, facing you as this empty void, knowing you'd pledged your precious life to his for better or worse. This was definitely worse, perhaps the worst.

But you weren't that soft girl he'd kissed goodbye either.

You'd taken up writing for the papers. You wrote all sorts of columns under a mans name. You and Polly had started women's book club that served a purpose of making a dark time lighter as well as sharing what little they had. Tommy assumed that during the war time they must have gotten up to no good more than once as they were as feared as the Blinders in most circles.

Her desk was placed in the living room, covered in books and papers. Top drawer was filled with letters they had sent back and forth. Tommy was someone to envy during that time. You would always send him a letter about what was happening, most of it bleak and depressing, but then you would send something you'd figured would help him sleep better at night. All sorts of wicked fantasy's, never about anyone specific, he often traded them for things. A thought you found hilarious, your naughty stories carried all over the world in the pockets of lonely soldiers.

You had to step into your own during that time, you were fierce and most people found you entirely disagreeable. While he was a shell of the man he once was, you were almost too bright to look at. You were so much like Polly now, and the two of them ran a tight ship.

They ran it in such a way that ensured people were taken care of, built up a reputation for the family that was easy push farther.

But he was afraid to sleep next to you, so he just didn't come to bed. A fantastic idea that only lasted two nights. The look in your eyes made him physically sick.

You were sitting on the couch in the living room, book in your hands. He shuddered internally when he thought of what you must think he was up to.

"Don't worry Thomas, you're not the only one who got used to running on no sleep. I can keep this up for days." Your glare hit him hard. He thought of shrugging it off, that was an easier path, but there was a twinge of hurt in your eyes that put him in line.

"I thrash. When I sleep. I don't want to hurt you." The words burned, he hated them almost as much as he hated himself.

"You won't thrash when your next to me." She said, glimmers of that soft girl shining through.

"Yes I will and -"

"You won't because you'll know your next to me. I don't care even if you do hurt me. But it certainly doesn't explain why you won't touch me when your awake." Your eyes were wet, the whole weight of the world seemed to be crashing down on them. A world they both worked hard to come back to and know that they are here they cant enjoy it. Or at least he cant. "What is she like?" You were properly broken now. Fuck. He sat down on the couch next to you finally.

"There isn't anyone else, love." He pulled you in close to him. "I just don't know how to be now that it's all over." He whispered, enjoying the way you griped him tightly. He cleared his throat.

"Now what are you working on, eh?" He picked up the book, feeling you shift to curl up with your head in his lap. He started to read, feeling the tension leave your slender frame.

That was how they made it back to each other. It was slow, page by page, night by night. He would forever be grateful that you had gifted him that time to come back you.
