I love how in every pre-relationship tddk fic they’re both waxing poetic about each other.

Shoto’s yapping about Izuku’s freckles and how he wishes he could count and kiss all of them, his curly green hair, and how green is in everything, so much that he could probably live in it now (iykyk), His scarred and slightly deformed hands that reach out to everyone regardless of who they are. The same hands that smashed through the walls years he’s spent years perfecting, and changed his life forever. The guilt he feels every time he’s reminded of how he pushed Izuku to such measures to save him. How izuku always undermines himself, but still comes out on top? His determination, always pushing himself beyond his limits so he can save people with a smile, How he doesn’t realize the impact he has on people, His rapid talking, as if his mouth is saying a thousand words per minute. Izuku could talk about a 100 different shades of beige and that would still interest shoto. Everything about izuku midoriya interests Shoto.

Whilst Izuku’s going on and on about his beauty, and how everything about Shoto is beautiful. He’s simply staring out the window? Alluring. Writing something down? His handwriting is so neat. A small, but still visible smile growing on Shoto’s face as he’s playing games with everyone during game night? There’s not a word in the dictionary for that. But his beauty is not only on the outside but on the inside too. Because despite his harsh childhood Shoto is still a kind person, even if his way of showing is different. Izuku knows from the way Shoto shares Soba and other dishes with him when he’s feeling down, how Shoto allows him to cry on his shoulder even if that is something he wasn’t allowed to do. Because hero’s don’t cry right? How he writes his mother letters every week as a way to remind both of them that she’s in his life now, and forever. How Izuku trust shoto with his life, that they’re both so in sync with each other talking isn’t necessarily during battle. Izuku knows with a doubt he would do anything Shoto asked him.

the setting is a version of earth which exists thousands of years in the future, a version of earth in which the combat aspect of war has been replaced with an olympic style games tournament where the combatant whose representatives win the most games win the war as a whole. the military still exists but instead of being divided into the air force, the navy, the marines, etc, theyre divided based on which games they specialize in. our characters are on opposing shuffleboarding leagues. it is treated with an equal amount of severity

Katniss is such an unreliable narrator. She says "Then something unexpected happens. At least, I don't expect it because I don't think of District 12 as a place that cares about me" girl you deliver strawberries to the Mayor, you hunt and trade for the district, when you fell at Prim being chosen someone caught you, when you went to Prim people parted for you, when you volunteered EVERYONE stopped. Idk how to tell you but I think you're a pillar of the community.

we cry "the innocent women and children" to appeal to the masses, to try and force their sympathy, but the men and boys are innocent too.

I have seen sons crying out for their mothers, their fathers, their siblings. I have seen them break down at the loss of their families. I have seen them cling to their dead and grieve.

I have seen fathers cradle their dead children, seen them kiss their faces and hold their little hands. I have seen them faint with grief when asked to identify the dead. I have seen them carry their sons and daughters. I have seen them fasting to provide what little they can for their families.

I have seen men and boys digging through the rubble with just their bare hands, I have seen them comforting strangers, playing with children, rocking them, hushing them, even if the face of such imminent danger. I have seen them cry, seen them grieve, seen them break down into each other's arms, seen them be selfless, beyond selfless, becoming something I don't have a word for.

I have seen the men who are doctors refuse to leave their patients, even when they have no medicine or supplies to give them, even when they're threatened with bombings. I have seen fathers who have lost all their children pick orphans up into their arms and proclaim them their child so they are not alone. I have seen men and boys digging pets out of the rubble.

the men are innocent too. the men and boys are being hurt and killed too. the men and boys are grieving too. the men and boys are scared too. the men and boys are fighting to save their people too. the men and boys deserve to be fought for too.

One of my biggest nitpicks in fiction concerns the feeding of babies. Mothers dying during/shortly after childbirth or the baby being separated form the mother shortly after birth is pretty common in fiction. It is/was also common enough in real life, which is why I think a lot of writers/readers don't think too hard about this. however. Historically, the only reason the vast majority of babies survived being separated from their mother was because there was at least one other woman around to breastfeed them. Before modern formula, yes, people did use other substitutes, but they were rarely, if ever, nutritionally sufficient.

Newborns can't eat adult food. They can't really survive on animal milk. If your story takes place in a world before/without formula, a baby separated from its mother is going to either be nursed by someone else, or starve.

It doesn't have to be a huge plot point, but idk at least don't explicitly describe the situation as excluding the possibility of a wetnurse. "The father or the great grandmother or the neighbor man or the older sibling took and raised the baby completely alone in a cave for a year." Nope. That baby is dead I'm sorry. "The baby was kidnapped shortly after birth by a wizard and hidden away in a secret tower" um quick question was the wizard lactating? "The mother refused to see or touch her child after birth so the baby was left to the care of the ailing grandfather" the grandfather who made the necessary arrangements with women in the neighborhood, right? right? OR THAT GREAT OFFENDER "A newborn baby was left on the doorstep and they brought it in and took care of it no issues" What Are You Going to Feed That Baby. Hello?

Like. It's not impossible, but arrangements are going to have to be made. There are some logistics.

so you know how i have an AU where Asamad makes music? well, in that AU, he makes music videos too. (and he owns all of his music and directs his music videos!) and he made a diss track about Nekara, who is his ex in this AU, and how her “love” is dangerous and toxic and she uses it to manipulate warlocks in order to get what she wants and she has never felt real love for anyone or at least has never shown it. and that diss track gets a music video. (the song is called “Love Spell”)

the music video tells the story of Asamad and Nekara’s relationship, all the toxicity such as all the moments where she treated him like shit including her controlling him constantly and manipulating him to get whatever she wants, but also all the moments that Asamad was happy in. it shows the memory of the relationship haunting Asamad even in the present day. it was a complicated, messy, and confusing relationship and the music video shows that.

so at the end of the video, Asamad ends up lying next to her again showing that even when he tried to leave, she always got him to come back to her. he tries to leave again. and when he does try, it cuts to present day, he sees her again, now walking away with another warlock, treating him the exact same way she treated Asamad, showing that she’ll always continue this cycle, collecting more and more victims as time passes.
