Sweeter High Syrup
Sweeter High syrup is a Cannabis lean that will knock your socks off!! First and foremost, each bottle of canna lean or also known as canna syrup boasts a whopping 1000 MG of THC. If that doesn’t do the job for you, we don’t know what will. The taste of each flavor is amazing and is highly potent. Secondly, canna syrup is used if you’re not a smoker, not into smoking or simply don’t want to eat edibles

Cannabis Drinkables: An Alternative Way to Consume Marijuana
As the legalization of marijuana continues to spread across the country, more and more people are discovering the benefits of cannabis-infused products beyond the traditional ways of smoking and vaping.
One such product gaining popularity is cannabis drinkables, which provide an easy and enjoyable way to consume marijuana without the need for smoking or inhaling.
Cannabis drinkables are beverages infused with marijuana that can be consumed orally. They come in a variety of flavors and types, including tea, coffee, juice, soda, water, and even beer. The effects of cannabis drinkables can be felt within 30 minutes to two hours after consumption and can last for several hours.
How Do Cannabis Drinkables Work?
Cannabis drinkables work by passing through the digestive system and then entering the bloodstream through the liver. Once in the bloodstream, the THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and other cannabinoids in the drinkables interact with the body's endocannabinoid system, producing the desired effects.
Benefits of Cannabis Drinkables
One of the main benefits of cannabis drinkables is that they offer a discreet and convenient way to consume marijuana, making it an ideal option for those who prefer not to smoke or vape. They also provide a more controlled and precise dosage than smoking or vaping, which can be difficult to gauge accurately. Additionally, cannabis drinkables come in a wide range of flavors and types, making them an enjoyable and tasty way to consume marijuana.

A Comprehensive Guide to Understanding Dispensaries
Dispensaries are the primary consumer-facing part of the legal industry in most places where marijuana is legal. As a result, they often provide a wide variety of cannabis goods, though the selection varies by region, including flowers, vapes, concentrates, edibles, drinkables, and more. In terms of how they operate, dispensaries are similar to retailers in other consumer spaces.
In some places, you can even buy marijuana from a collective lawfully. Cannabis collectives, however, should not be confused with typical marijuana dispensaries. Even though some collectives may sell marijuana in ways that are quite similar to dispensaries, they are not the same. A dispensary operates exclusively as a retail business. However, collectives are primarily non-profit organizations whose members collaborate to create and make available legal information.
Tumblr media
How Do Dispensaries Get Their Weed?
Legal suppliers and cultivators supply marijuana to licensed and authorized dispensaries. States and nations have different laws and regulatory frameworks that regulate this process. However, the entire supply chain through which dispensaries obtain their marijuana must be registered and subject to government regulation to remain lawful.
What Is A Medical Dispensary?
The San Francisco Cannabis Buyers Club, which the late great Dennis Peron ran when it opened in 1992, is the first public marijuana dispensary in the United States. In California, hundreds of medical dispensaries have been established since then. More than half of the states in the union now have medical dispensaries.
Before you may enter the majority of medical marijuana stores, you must have the required documentation. So, before your first visit, have your recommendation ready.
In contrast to a visit to the doctor, security will probably welcome you when you enter a medical dispensary. This is a result of banks refusing to accept their money, forcing them to trade in cash solely. More protection than you'd find at a drugstore is necessary when carrying that much cash.
Before being allowed inside the dispensing area, you must check in with the receptionist when you arrive.
The receptionist will request your ID and a doctor's medical marijuana recommendation or ID card. You may be required to show proof of residency if you have an ID from another state. Many dispensaries provide specials and discounts to medical marijuana patients. Anyone who smokes regularly may save money in the long run by getting a medical marijuana card.
Tumblr media
The difference between Medical vs. Recreational Dispensaries
The distinction between medical marijuana dispensaries and adult-use marijuana dispensaries is based on the requirements for entry and purchase.
Dispensaries for Medicine
A medical marijuana card is required to purchase cannabis from a medical marijuana dispensary. To obtain a medical card in most states, you must be at least 18 years old and have a written note from your doctor. In addition, minors can get medical marijuana cards with the help of an adult caregiver and practitioner certification from a practitioner.
Recreational Marijuana Dispensaries
To buy marijuana from a recreational dispensary in America, you must be at least 21 years old and have a valid ID. To purchase cannabis in Canada, you must be at least 19 years old.
What you need to shop at a dispensary
There are a few items you must always bring with you when shopping for cannabis.
Genuine identification
Bring identification or a passport to prove your legal purchasing age. If you have a medical condition, bring your medical card with you.
Cash
Because cannabis is still illegal on a federal level, debit and credit card companies do not allow cannabis purchases. As a result, you must always bring cash to the dispensary. If you forget, ATMs are available in stores, but you'll have to pay those pesky fees.
What you want
Cannabis products line the walls, shelves, and cases of dispensaries. They can be overwhelming, so it's always a good idea to know what you want before you go. If you need to figure out what you're looking for, the budtenders can point you in the right direction. What you want from cannabis is ultimately determined by two factors: how you want to feel and what you want to taste. A positive cannabis experience revolves around effects and flavors, and dispensaries stock a wide range of products that can deliver either or both.
What Products Are At Dispensaries?
The products available in a dispensary will vary by state. For example, states such as New York prohibit dispensaries from selling smokable flowers. However, only cannabis derivatives, such as tinctures or vape pen cartridges, are available.
Cannabis will be available in flower and concentrated forms such as kief, BHO, sauce, budder, RSO, CO2, and everything else found in a medical dispensary. There are also edibles available if you want a longer high without smoking.
Now you'll know what to expect when visiting a marijuana-legalized state. If you plan to buy regularly, a medical recommendation could save you money in the long run. So if you're passing through, you're better off visiting a recreational dispensary.
How to find the right dispensary for you
Where we shop is primarily determined by convenience: which dispensaries are the closest and have the best prices. While distance and price are important considerations, selecting the best cannabis dispensary is about customer experience.
Time in store
The most common concern with dispensaries is, "Can I get in and out?" Unfortunately, the most popular dispensaries are often the most crowded, and there's nothing worse than having to wait half an hour for a couple of pre-rolls.
Budtender assistance
If you're unsure what to buy, it's critical to be able to ask the budtender for assistance. You want your budtender to be friendly and patient because so many products can make your body feel differently. If the budtenders are rude, impatient, or worse, uninformed, you should shop elsewhere.
Choosing a Product
One of the most important aspects of the cannabis shopping experience is product selection. There are thousands of cannabis strains available in various products, and a good dispensary will offer you a diverse selection at reasonable prices. For example, if you find a dispensary with friendly budtenders, a large product selection, reasonable prices, and a quick checkout process, you've found the right cannabis dispensary.

A Guide to Cannabis Edibles
Cannabis edibles A cannabis edible, also dubbed as cannabis-infused food or just an edible is a type of cannabis food that is infused with a certain amount of Cannabinoid, particularly tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Although edible generally pertains to foods or drinks, a cannabis-infused drink, in general, gives reference to more specifically as a liquid edible or drinkable item.
Most edibles come infused with a massive amount of THC, which are responsible for producing different types of effects such as relaxation, ecstasy, enhanced hunger, exhaustion, and anxiety. THC-dominant edibles are consumed for recreational and medical purposes. Some edibles contain an insignificant amount of THC and are rather prevailing in other cannabinoids, most usually cannabidiol (CBD).These edibles are fundamentally used for medical purports.

The Rambling Man Travel Review: Reno, Nevada
Reno, Nevada…  The Biggest Little City in the world, located mere miles from scenic Lake Tahoe.  Reno, known for so many things.  Yes, gambling is probably the first thing that creeps into your head as you begin the initial descent into Reno / Tahoe International Airport on the East end of Reno.  But, Reno is so much more!!  And, to be clear, because in an odd way I get this question more often than not.  “No, Reno is not any where near Las Vegas!” Frankly, Sin City is a 6 plus hour car trip away.  And, yes, the two Old West towns have some things in common, but the truth is they have more uncommon than you would expect.  This is the Silver State, Ramblin with the Rambling Man, checking out the dudeability, the hang outs, the good time, hidden gems….  Rambling, walking, eating, drinking, fishing, hunting, sporting…   Rambling into town, and taking in the town for all its worth.  From local sporting events, to grabbing a cold beer, or strolling a midnight street in search of every dream inside my soul.
If you want to double down on 11 in a game of black jack, sure…  You can take lady luck for a twirl at most locations in Nevada.  Heck, you can gamble in the grocery store! Gambling, of course, does not hold a stick to legalized prostitution in the Silver State.  A must see “dude event,” a most unique experience while in Nevada.  One must visit a brothel.  The experience of Ringing the bell, having the ladies line up, and the entire pomp and circumstance of legalized prostitution…  This is Nevada!!  Embrace it Bro..    And, hey, I am not singing a sad cowboy tune, but one does not have to sleep with a hooker to visit a Brothel.  Gentleman, the experience of visiting the Whore House is truly West Coast Cowboy Country Cool.  The experience of visiting the relic of the old west sorta makes actually having to bang a hooker totally unnecessary.  But, if you do decide to go to Tuna Town in the desert.  The house madam at the Brothel, and Brothel ownership, usually have high standards of safety and satisfaction. Plus, the State of Nevada ensures STD safe sex.  What a Country!  More like what a State.  Yes, the only state with Legalized Prostitution, but not the only state with prostitution.  As the oldest profession continues its strong industry and economic success globally.
Some suggestions: Mustang Ranch on the outskirts of Reno defines old west prostitution, and if you can avoid the rush of tires truck drivers who frequent the place, the experience is sure to remind you that being a dude is still groovy.  The experience is sure to make you proud once again to be the sole proprietor of your personal penis, regardless of size.  Mustang offers drinks and libations with the most perfect bar to take in a conversation with one of the many girls patrolling the room.  The many patrons, of course, have their own unique stories as well sitting near if you so desire to engage.  But, dang it bro, you are on vacation, strike up a conversation. Most Renoites will be more than happy to share a story or two, especially if you are talking golf, hookers, skiing, cold beer, or cards.
I woke up a bit foggy… I think I got home around 3:30 AM, an UBER brought me from Mustang back to my downtown Reno hotel room at the Eldorado Hotel and Casino.  I was nude, my clothes from last night thrown over the chair adjacent to my bed, I could still smell the stench of Mustang and Crown Royal bellowing from my garments. What a night…  I need some coffee and to walk some of the haze from behind my eyes.  I take a quick walk upon exiting the casino doors at the Eldorado, moving South down Virginia St.  I then take a right turn on First St.
I arrive at Hub Coffee Roasters on Riverside Dr in Reno.  I sit outside, a round table with an extra chair my only company.  I sip a tall black coffee and pick at my cheese Danish. My view is of the Truckee River and the adjacent walking trail and park.  The trees scream early fall as I sit still listening to the peace of the morning.
On foot one can embrace a new city on a much more intimate level.  You can walk almost in slow motion as you take in the new sights, smells, and people.  My walk today has a walking path that winds around the Truckee River directly West towards the Keystone Ave Bridge, the Booth St. Bridge, and Idlewild Park.  The orange, yellow leaves under my feet, as cool mountain air surrounds me.  I hear chirps from a few birds, and the 10:00 AM train and its screech and horn.  The water from the river heads East, against my walk.  It is a most perfect morning, and I am stoned immaculate in my city by the big lake in the Sierras.  You can almost smell that the snow of Winter is near, I walk.  My head phones in both ears, music plays, song after song.  I hear my playlist, my shuffle playlist. The many songs from Apple I-Tunes subscription.
Three miles is a decent introduction walk to Reno, as I start my daily stroll from Hub Coffee Roasters by directly heading west on the adjacent walking trail…  I walk with the morning sun on my back, music keeping me company.  Beck, REM, Pearl Jam, Band of Horses, Elliot Smith, Mount Eerie, Bob Dylan….  The Truckee River from the nearby Sierra Nevada Mountain range brings fresh and clear water from the tops of elevated peaks seen in the distance, the river keeps me company as I ramble on.  It is a most perfect walk, a mix of solitude, water, fall, and some strange faces.  My own music allows me to not skip a beat.
I have a personal tour of a local Cannabis Dispensary at 4 PM.  And dinner with an old friend, Clint Cates.   Yes, above and beyond gambling and prostitution, Nevada has recently legalized cannabis.  Yep, you can literally go pick up a sack at a local retail weed dealer.  What a country?  And they deliver…
The inner workings of a cannabis dispensary, a bit underwhelming.  It is all about security in a cash only business… And, the chronic has some street value, no doubt.  So, bullet proof sheet rock, big safes with secret codes and levels of management. Not to mention, a big wall of people. I thought “Starbucks but weed” after 15 minutes into my tour because the Mynt Dispensary in Downtown Reno.  The place was packed, all sorts of sour faces and young people alike looking at such a variety of products.  Heck, when I was a kid, getting a sack of weed was a crap shoot. You would get a plastic sandwich bag with something green inside, and you would pay the man the cash.  Today, its sativa or Indica.  It’s oils, wax, vape pens, and don’t get me started on the names.  Pot can’t just be pot anymore.  Marketing has invaded the space, so pot now is Orange Krusk Kush, or Spiral to Insanity. Regardless, Reno has it all, and the Mynt Dispensary is close and will satisfy one’s curiosity on what is recreational legalization.  Check it out….
Mr. Cates urged me to see the Grow Facility, the actual place the pot is grown.  And, talk about impressive…  To see such a green forest of pot inside the facility was one most unique experience.  What a country?  And, Nevada, Northern Nevada.  This place is lit, no pun intended.
And, when you are stoned? Besides taking a walk and being outdoors, I enjoy food, duh…  I think that is the pothead mantra, let’s get high and eat are faces off.  For Clint’s chronic hospitality, and world class tour of the Mynt Dispensary facilities, I offered to buy the pot entrepreneur dinner.
Clint, he suggests a local staple, but a Cougar Stop first.
We walk into The Polo Lounge with glazed eyes and an unquenchable thirst.  We pull up to seats at the bar, we were Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday in a pair of cowboy boots galloping into this local dive bar. And, we were looking for a cold drink.
The Polo Lounge located in Midtown Reno is a retro and freaky dive bar with strange faces everywhere. The bar, however, is first and foremost a place to drink in a town of drinkers.  Did I mention?  Reno can drink.  I am feeling a Vodka and Tonic with a lemon night is on the horizon.  I am in the land of milk and honey, as this dive bar is also a Cougar den.  Hot, horny, older women.  And like fine wine, and vodka to my tongue, an older woman is truly as sexy as a woman can possible be.  Especially, if the music is loud, the drinks are cheap, and last call is just a rumor. That’s right, you can drink all day and all night in the Biggest Little City.  No last call!!  What a country bro!!!
Clint stumbles back from a food run, we lost most of the night in a haze of laughter, pick up lines, and bar games.  We even missed the food reservation.  Clint finds a solution!  He brings back some food from Miguel’s Mexican Cantina, a short walk away from The Polo Lounge.  I am mouth first into an onion and cheese enchilada and a chili relleno in the most elegant egg crepe as 2 AM reared its ugly head.  I order a cold beer to wash it down, The Polo Lounge happily accommodates our request to bring in outside food.  Dive bar, check.  Great company and laughter, check.  Great Mexican food, check!!  The Rambling Man thinks highly in regards to the drinkability and Eatability in the Biggest little City…
I sleep until high noon. The partly cloudy fall day brings a day to catch up.  I have one more night in Reno, what will the last day of my weekend getaway bring.  I hope more laughter, and more food.
What will today bring, a Sunday afternoon and night in Reno.  I stick to my vacation theme, let’s walk, drink, eat, and find some laughter.
I start my last night with a Sunset Walk at nearby Virginia Lake.  The manmade lake is exactly one mile around, it is a big oval walking / running path near the intersection of Virginia St. and Plumb Lane in Reno.  It is a most beautiful walk and sunset.  I start my walk, set for 3 laps, at approximately 5:45 PM, sunset set for 6:20 PM, and the sky was set ablaze with all of autumn’s glory.  The lake is full of aquatic life, ducks, geese, turtles, fish.  With the best feature of Virginia Lake, a forest of sage brush. As dusk approaches, the smell from the sage brush is worth a billion silver dollars.  The smell of sun fading from summer, the old west meeting the fresh air of ancient mountain shadow.  Air so still, my heart beats in rhythm with the season.
After the walk, I go to the nearby Atlantis Casino….  The Atlantis, less than a quarter mile from Virginia Lake, is where I will partake in the Steam Room with Eucalyptus spray and a world class massage.  I feel like I am made of rubber, I feel happy.  So, I make my way down to the sportsbook within the bowels of the Atlantis casino.  I grab a beer and a nearby handicapping sheet, I am going to bet on the NFL Sunday night game of the Week, it’s the Patriots vs the Chiefs.  What a game!!  I put $500 on Tom Brady, the old man from Nor Cal, to win the game by more than two points.
At halftime, I stagger over to the Purple Parrot restaurant within the Atlantis to get my all time favorite sandwich, The Monty Cristo.  This fried sandwich with a side of strawberry preserves is not something I eat, nor even have the option of ordering.  The Monty Cristo with a side of fries, I sit at my table, lost in the casino carpet, and flashy neon lights, my eyes fixed upon the next numbers in the never ending run of Keno games on the overhead TV.  In my head, I keep wishing for eight numbers to match, a dream of wealth and fame surely awaits if I can only just get 8 numbers correct.
The night fades into the swallows of tomorrow, I make my way back to downtown and the Eldorado.  My flight leaves tomorrow at 10:15 AM….
Hue of the TV radiates upon my tired and sleepy head, a weekend in Reno.  I spark my lighter, weed set aglow, I inhale.  Stoned immaculate, I am the Rambling Man.  Reno ENVY… Reno, Nevada…  Walkability Score:  9 out of 10,  Drinkability Score:  7 out of 10, Eatability Score:  7 out of 10, Overall Value:  8 of 10, The Ability of the City to Provide a Unique Experience:  10 of 10.
Or course, my weekend getaway is meant to start a conversation regarding travel.  Reno has so much more to offer, like most cities, it would take multiple trips to take it all in.  I, do however, list below some activities or events to consider when traveling to Reno.
1.       Fish for Brown or Rainbow Trout in the Truckee River. Entrance Point at Mayberry Park west of town make this easy to access.  Artificial flies, a Salmon Egg, or even a piece of Bacon on the end of the stick will find success at dawn or twilight.
2.       Check out a University of Nevada Football game at nearby Mackey Stadium in the Fall, a Nevada Basketball game in the Winter, or a Reno Aces Minor League Baseball game in the Spring or Summer.  Hey, we love our sports, and checking out a new venue is always cool.
3.       Walking Options: Mayberry Park, Downtown Reno, Virginia Lake, Rancho San Rafael
4.       Harrah’s Auto Museum – This is a legit place, full of classic cars that will blow your mind.
5.       Rib Cookoff, Balloon Races, Hot August Nights, all tourists traps but a place to start a weekend to Ramble On…..
Finally, and in closing, what is the soul of the city, what is the Soul of Reno?  Reno has two faces, and contradiction surrounds.  The beauty of Lake Tahoe, the Truckee River, the Sierra Nevada Mountains, alongside the despair of prostitution and gaming.  The city is the chain of vice, and the elegance of a perfect small town.  It is the old west, yet modern day growth and opportunity abounds.  It’s the Wild, Wild West, it’s the Biggest Little City in the World.  Regardless, Reno is a fantastic place to Ramble On.

Sweet Dreams Vineyards USA
Tumblr media
SKIP THE HANGOVER WITH A HEALTHIER EXPERIENCE THAT STILL PACKS A PUNCH!
What if you could get that relaxing feeling from a beverage you enjoy like wine, and skip the hangover? Imagine enjoying the effects of cannabis without the irritations of smoking or the too-slow build-up usually experienced with cannabis edibles. That’s the sweet spot you’ll hit with drinkable cannabis from Sweet Dreams Vineyards.
We use cutting-edge nanoemulsion technology to deliver a fast-acting and consistent experience without the negative effects of smoking or ingesting. And the best part: Not only is it non-alcoholic (so there’s no hangover), but it has half the calories of an alcohol-based wine.
Why Choose Sweet Dreams Vineyards?
Sweet Dreams Vineyards is the next generation of cannabis that comes with the following advantages:
Healthier than Alcohol
Fast Acting
No Alcohol = No Hangover
Half the Calories
Tumblr media
Our non-alcoholic beverages are part of a new generation of cannabis products that offer a healthier, more consistent experience when your mood needs a little uplifting or mellowing out at the end of the day. And unlike other cannabis drinks, which taste more like sodas or punches, Cannabernet mimics the dry fruit, pepper, and vanilla flavors of Cabernet Sauvignon, while the Marijuarita delivers the slightly sweet yet acidic familiarity of a margarita.
Cannabernet Ingredients
Cannabernet is not only a healthier alternative to alcohol-based wine and cannabis vaping, but its main ingredients promote a myriad of health benefits. Pomegranate and Blueberry juice have long been considered superfoods. For example, pomegranate juice has been found to have three times the antioxidant activity of either red wine or green tea.
What Can You Expect?
Although the cannabis experience can vary widely by each user, we have designed our non-alcoholic “wine” to act in a timeframe like that of alcohol. To assist us in this goal, we conducted a user study group to see how our product compares to alcohol. The results are shown in the graph below.
Tumblr media
If you look at the orange line, you’ll see that a typical THC edible product can take around 90 to 120 minutes for the effects to be felt and can last up to 360 minutes (6 hours).
On the other hand, if you look at the chart below, the green line represents the time for the Sweet Dreams Vineyards product (derived from nano emulsification) to work. You’ll see that you should start to feel the effects in 15 minutes, and you should be out of it in 3 to 4 hours.
Finally, if you look at the blue line, you will see the effects of Sweet Dreams Vineyards products are like that of consuming alcohol (minus the calories and hangover, of course).
How Will It Make Me Feel?
You should experience a strong feeling of relaxation accompanied by stress and anxiety relief. However, the effects will vary by user. Having said that, the operative principle is to go slow until you have some experience with how your body will react. If you’re an experienced cannabis user, you can stop reading now and go for it! (You probably already have a good idea of your tolerance level). If you’re a beginner or occasional user, have a glass and wait a while to see how you feel. Once you have a sense of your tolerance, you’ll be set to know how to use this product. We’ve provided this chart below to give you some relative guide on where to start.

What Makes Medical and Recreational Cannabis Different
Tumblr media
In 2012, Colorado and Washington became the first states to legalize recreational cannabis. Before that, cannabis was legal in certain states only to those with qualifying medical conditions. As more states follow in Washington and Colorado’s footsteps, “recreational” or “adult-use” have become the commonly used terms for personal cannabis consumption that isn’t exclusively for medical purposes.
But beyond the distinction of consumer intention, what other differences exist between medical and recreational cannabis?
The Medical vs. Recreational Cannabis Shopping Experience When it comes to the shopping experience itself, medical and recreational shops tend to offer similar experiences. Qualified medical marijuana patients present both their ID to prove they’re legally old enough to purchase cannabis, as well as their valid medical cannabis card. Some medical shops will have a waiting room where patients are called in one at a time to ensure privacy.
Oftentimes, recreational stores are not permitted to provide medical advice to customers, although you can still shop at them as a medical patient. Some shops are also “dual-licensed,” meaning they can cater to the needs of both recreational and medical consumers. They may also offer discounts and tax breaks to medical patients.
Medical dispensaries and dual-licensed shops are best equipped to answer patient questions, especially those that provide education opportunities for their budtenders, such as seminars and certifications. Don’t be afraid to explore multiple dispensaries until you find one with a well-trained staff that you connect with.
Browse Dispensaries Nearby As for product selection, there tends to be very little difference between medical and recreational menus. At either store type, you’re bound to find the shelves full of various edibles, drinkables, vaporizers, topicals, strains, and concentrates.
Different States, Different Perks Medical patients may receive certain perks not available to recreational consumers. These generally include:
Lower costs and taxes
Higher THC potency limits
Higher quantity restrictions
Legal access for minors in approved medical cases (e.g., cancer or epilepsy)
Medical patients may be allowed to grow their own cannabis (or are permitted a higher plant count than recreational consumers)
How Are Medical and Recreational Cannabis Perceived Differently? Social stigma and perception further bolden the dividing line between medical and recreational cannabis, as a greater percentage of Americans support medical cannabis than recreational adult use.
Using cannabis for enjoyment is still somewhat taboo in the public eye, although you don’t need to be suffering a severe disease to find wellness benefits in casual use. For example, when a state legalizes recreational cannabis, a consumer might first fall in love with the easy access to a variety of high-quality strains, only to discover an infused topical that works wonders on a chronic condition. Or, a healthy adult may find that a low-dose tincture helps alleviate daily stress and anxiety.
As new products and medicines with a wide range of benefits come to market, it’s easy to become fan of both recreational and medical cannabis. And it’s only a matter of time before state laws come to reflect that.

Canada’s legal cannabis market gets off to a slow start
Tumblr media
COLOURFUL CANS labelled Pink Kush, Moon and Trail Blazer are arranged invitingly in the glass-doored cooler at Superette, a cannabis store in the trendy Westboro area of Ottawa. But they are just models for marketing purposes. A sales clerk, wearing a white Superette toque and matching T-shirt, explains that cannabis-infused drinks and edibles, like chocolates, biscuits and sweets, will probably not go on sale until early January, even though the government finished its review process by December 16th. “Wheels of bureaucracy,” the salesman explains.
In October 2018 Canada became the second country in the world, after Uruguay, to legalise cannabis for recreational use. But it has proceeded with caution. Sales of the plant, oils and seeds were legalised right away. Drinks, edible confections and vaping products followed a year later. This, plus slow approvals of retail outlets by some provinces, turned an expected bonanza into a bit of a bust. The industry is hoping that what it calls “Cannabis 2.0” will revive its fortunes. It may not.

Upgrade your inbox and get our Daily Dispatch and Editor's Picks.
The government said that legalisation would help keep cannabis out of the hands of children and put criminals out of business. Progress has been slower than it wanted. Just 28% of consumers bought only from legal sources in the third quarter of 2019. The rest presumably are still buying on the black market, where prices are lower. Many of those smokers are no doubt under age. In the first year after legalisation legitimate sales were a disappointing C$907m ($690m).
That is partly because finding one of Canada’s 407 legal pot shops is not easy. As of July this year Ontario had 24 stores for its 14m residents—two fewer than Newfoundland & Labrador, with a population of 530,000. In nine of the ten provinces distribution from growers to retailers is a provincial monopoly. The distributor’s extra paperwork is what slowed Superette down.
Such problems have sobered Canadian firms, which had heady dreams of leading a growing global industry. The share price of Canopy Growth, the largest Canadian cannabis firm by market value, dropped from C$57 on the eve of legalisation to C$27 this week. That of Cronos Group, the second-biggest, has fallen from C$12 to C$7.
These companies are counting on drinks and edibles to improve their fortunes. So are some big international booze firms such as Constellation Brands, which has invested in Canopy Growth, and Molson Coors, which has a joint venture with Hexo, a smaller cannabis firm. In American states where cannabis is legal, edibles accounted for 11% of the market in 2018, according to Deloitte, a consultancy. It estimates that edibles and drinkables could add C$2.1bn to sales in Canada.
They could also draw in multinational consumer-goods companies that have so far stayed out of the market. Cannabis-infused beverages and biscuits are not so different from products they know how to make and sell. The big brands might push Pink Kush out of the cooler. ■

Corona brewer to invest nearly $200 million in Canadian marijuana grower, with plans to develop cannabis-infused drinks
http://ift.tt/2iLbJFz
The U.S. distributor of Corona beer is chasing a new type of buzz.
Constellation Brands Inc. STZ 0.08% has agreed to take a 9.9% stake in Canopy Growth Corp. WEED -1.24% , a Canadian marijuana company, and plans to work with the grower to develop and market cannabis-infused beverages.
Canopy Growth is the world’s largest publicly traded cannabis company, with a market valuation of 2.2 billion Canadian dollars on the Toronto Stock Exchange. The C$245 million (US$191 million) deal gives Constellation a toehold in an industry that the brewer expects to be legalized nationwide in the U.S. in the coming years.
“We think that it’s highly likely, given what’s happened at the state level,” Rob Sands, chief executive of the Victor, N.Y.-based beer, wine and spirits company, said in an interview. “We’re obviously trying to get first-mover advantage.”
Constellation—flush with cash after posting a 13% increase in beer sales in its latest quarter—is interested in developing drinkable cannabis products that don’t contain alcohol, he said. Products currently on the market in U.S. states where they are legal include buzz-inducing sodas, coffees and fruit elixirs.
Constellation doesn’t plan to sell such a product in the U.S. before marijuana is legalized there nationwide, Mr. Sands said, but could sell it in Canada, where edible and drinkable cannabis products are expected to be legalized by 2019, or other countries where recreational marijuana is permitted.
Independent research firm Euromonitor International estimates that the legal marijuana market in 2018 will be US$7.5 billion in Canada and $10.2 billion in the U.S.
U.S. beer-industry executives have been debating whether legalized marijuana could cannibalize sales of beer, even as other consumers migrate from beer to wine and spirits. Some brewers have experimented with cannabis-infused beers, not containing THC but instead a marijuana flavor.
“Wine and spirits are not sitting still, and marijuana is being legalized in many states,” Heineken USA Chief Executive Ronald den Elzen said at a beer wholesalers conference earlier this month. “We have to act now, and we have to do it together.”
Mr. Sands said he doesn’t see pot as a threat to booze. But if a consumer is going to choose a can of beer, a glass of wine, a shot of liquor or a weed-laced elixir, he wants to be able to offer all four, he said.
“Could it be a threat? Yes, I guess it could be,” he said. “We’re not going to stand around twiddling our thumbs.”
An employee with medicinal marijuana plants at Canopy Growth in Smith Falls, Ontario. An employee with medicinal marijuana plants at Canopy Growth in Smith Falls, Ontario. PHOTO: LARS HAGBERG/GETTY IMAGES Medical use of marijuana has been legal in Canada since 2001. The country is expected to legalize recreational use, not including edibles, by July 2018, with edible and drinkable products expected to become legal the following year. In the U.S., eight states plus the District of Columbia have legalized marijuana, and more than 20 states have legalized it for medical purposes.
Constellation doesn’t plan to lobby for or against marijuana legalization in the U.S., Mr. Sands said.
Canopy Growth, based in Smiths Falls, Ontario, is ramping up capacity ahead of next summer’s legalization in Canada and said it would use the new capital to expand its production and storage facilities throughout the country.
The deal, expected to close by early November, gives Constellation board-observer status and the option to increase its stake to just under 20%. Canopy Growth CEO Bruce Linton said Constellation’s expertise in alcohol distribution would be helpful for the cannabis company as it determines how to distribute and package recreational cannabis. Canada’s provincial regulators are still considering how to handle the selling of marijuana, he said.
Mr. Linton said he hoped the deal could be the turning point for the nascent industry, signaling to institutional investors “that a cannabis company that fully complies within legal jurisdictions would be the right place to invest."
There are 69 publicly traded cannabis companies listed on Canada’s three main stock markets, representing about C$8 billion in market capitalization. The bulk of the trades in Canada are conducted by retail investors.

Everything you should know about CBD-infused meals
Tumblr media
From California to New York, infused meals have become a mainstay of today's cannabis culture, providing a focal point around which both enthusiasts and canna-curious may gather socially and learn about the plant. While THC-infused meals happen speakeasy style in states that have yet to pass adult use regulations, CBD-infused meals are ubiquitous, writes Danielle Guercio. Excitement over the Farm Bill has only increased the popularity of CBD, which functions both as an antidote to THC-induced anxiety and as a non-intoxicating baby step into exploring cannabis wellness. CBD-infused dishes are accessible to almost every kind of diner. From CBD-infused chocolates and sodas to gummies and powders, the skyrocketing demand for the cannabinoid has inspired many chefs to get creative in adapting it to their menus. To learn more about infusing CBD into our food — which, inevitably, means working in the cannabis plant's iconic flavor, thanks to a host of accompanying terpenes (aromatic compounds) — we asked a handful of cannabis entrepreneurs, creatives, and chefs to dish on what it's actually like to cook with CBD.
What’s the deal with dosage?
"Keeping control of your dose is crucial," says Ron Silver, chef/owner of Bubby’s in New York City and founder of Azuca, a CBD-infused line of syrups and edibles. “We look at CBD as medicine, and not something to be thrown around.” Silver says this is important to remember, and that just because there isn’t a ‘high’ from CBD doesn’t mean it’s not doing something. “As a sort of guideline, 25 milligrams a day is a pretty solid dose," he says. "Not too small, and not too massive.” But this isn’t the end-all-be-all in the dosing department, especially since we’re all composed differently. Silver calls this “the burning question” in the CBD field, stressing that anecdotal discussions may guide research around the topic. “One close family member of mine who suffers from rheumatoid arthritis found relief in taking a massive dose of CBD, 500 milligrams, and then a 25-milligram dose two times a day, with a day off a week to 'reset' his system," he told Civilized. "This is what he came up with through talking to others with similar issues and comparing notes.” Not only does every body and its endocannabinoid system process cannabinoids differently, but there are also many different delivery methods for CBD, notes Rachel Burkons, co-founder of Altered Plates. There's also product quality to consider, she adds, as well as other cannabinoids and terpenes that may be present. Burkons is part of the team that’s opening Chroma Lounge in West Hollywood, which will be among Los Angeles’ first cannabis consumption spaces. Working with cannabis and food, Burkons says she has yet to see an adverse reaction to "too much" CBD. "I think people should be able to move forward without fear," she says. For those looking to collect data on their cannabis experiences, Goldleaf journals offer a method for everyone (daily consumers, chefs, patients, growers, and so on) to catalogue things like dosage, strain, consumption method, and how they're feeling from it all. "Everyone is different. Our metabolisms, body weights, endocannabinoid systems, and many other factors very much affect the way we handle cannabinoids of any kind," says Charles McElroy, founder of Goldleaf. "Be weary of any ‘universal’ doses.” He advocates for dosing just one item in a mixed-tolerance meal, so consumers of different experience levels can have more agency over how much they consume.
Ingredients and delivery methods
The ingredients used to infuse a dish with CBD can greatly impact how it affects the consumer. Some products are coconut oil-based, which means they're great for garnishing or dressing food, but less so for frying or roasting, as the direct heat could degrade the delicate compounds, leaving less for the body to absorb — and, not to mention, a nasty taste if you’re not careful. Food hub Epicurious discussed this in a piece about incorporating CBD into meals. "Don't place CBD oil over direct heat," the article cautioned. "While warming the oil may increase its effectiveness, heating the oil too high can cause it to lose terpenes, volatile compounds that work in tandem with the CBD to increase the medical potency. Also, more importantly, it tastes absolutely foul.” Without being heated or cooked, the contents of a prepared, packaged, product (should presumably) remain unchanged for the duration of the shelf life. One study on the degradation of CBD points out that when you alter cannabinoids with heat or acid, it could change the dosage, and you may no longer be able to tell how much CBD is in something. Drinkable CBD products, depending on how they're made, may be digested as an edible or sublingual, which may make it a little easier to quantify the CBD than in tinctures and oils. “Beverages are a very good way of serving a controlled dose and being able to keep track ," Silver says. CBD can penetrate the skin when applied topically, and it passes through the tissues of the mouth, throat, and esophagus when vaped or placed under the tongue in tincture form. “Sublingual administration refers to holding the drug in the mouth to allow the drug to be absorbed into the well-vascularized mucosa under the tongue," according to an article in Psychology Today about medicating with cannabinoids. "Absorption is fairly rapid and flows directly into the superior vena cava, a large vein that takes the drug first to the heart and then quickly into brain.” When cannabinoids are eaten, not all of them make it through our system, but there is still a benefit to edible CBD: “If you are determined to eat your drug in a brownie or cookie, the blood levels of CBD, but not THC, are increased when consumed with food or just prior to eating.”
Terps are the word
Present terpenes can change the effects, as well as the taste and sensory experience of a meal. Since terpenes are the building blocks of flavor, as Burkons puts it, they can be played with as you would play with flavors in regular cooking. “I love a nice flavor-match, but I do find that contrasting terpene profiles tends to be the most dynamic," she says. "I find it is helpful to have people think about these flavors through the lens of food: sweet and spicy; citrus and herbal; acid and umami. These flavor combinations are classic across all food categories and definitely work if you're looking to pair a cannabis terpene with a specific flavor profile in a dish.” These scent and flavor compounds are a fundamental part of the whole plant extract, so using terpene-rich products could give you the entourage effect that our bodies love, using all of cannabis’ minor chemicals to interact with your system, not just CBD on its own. Terpenes like limonene, found in citrus, and caryophyllene, found in pepper, are among the most commonly added to food — and they’re also found in full spectrum CBD extracts. Sometimes these are added separately, since terpenes can also come from food sources like lemon peels, or a sprig of rosemary’s pungent pinene. All of the compounds must work together, Burkons says. "Similarly, due to the entourage effect, whole-plant derived terpenes can enhance or alter both the 'high' you'll get when consuming THC—and the efficacy of any medical benefits you're seeking in a CBD product.“ The terpenes can shift the consumer's experience — even with CBD as the primary cannabinoid, says Katie Stem, CEO of Peak Extracts. “I think of terpenes like color s—  it really is better to go for complementary or similar," she told Civilized. "We have had the most success with the terpenes that taste more like food or flowers. With our chocolate, the most delicious have been the fruity, piney or spicy varieties.” But Stem thinks each can have its home. Even the fuel-like diesel notes of some strains can meld with the right food, “They could be very successful with something like grilled or spicy foods, that have bold, savory flavors,” she says. Stem described how terpenes come into play in Peak’s high-CBD, low-THC products, and being in a legal state, they’re able to manufacture cannabis-derived CBD (as opposed to hemp-derived). “There’s one that’s derived from indica that’s high in myrcene and geranyl acetate that I use in the evening or for relaxation, and the other is sativa derived and higher in things like pinene," she says. "They taste and feel different, even though none of them are intoxicating in the typical sense of the word.” Right now terpenes are so new to the mainstream consumer that it's unlikely that they’ll be the chief focus of cannabis food for the time being, though some like those behind Prank Bar in Los Angeles are beginning to experiment with these flavors. "The terpenes are what give THC and CBD nuance," says Stem. "They’re not just flavors, they change the way the cannabinoids interact with your body, right down to the receptors.” If you want to experiment with CBD and terpenes, seek out full spectrum extracts over isolate, which is just the CBD compound without the other plant constituents. Single strain options are available in adult use states, like what Peak Extracts offers, while the prohibition holdouts will see more hemp products, like Azuca CBD Simple Syrup.   (Rights of the text go to 420intel.com. Dr. Bronner's is the only good brand on Twitter
Tumblr media
Whether it's Lil Debbie shilling out relationship advice or Sunny D igniting a conversation about depression, contemporary brand Twitter can be a depressing and dark place.
Nothing feels more cynical than when a brand appropriates the standardized millennial voice — ironic, detached, dejected — and uses it to hock their emulsified meat products and drinkable corn syrups. There's no commitment to justice here, there's just marketing. So I'd love to call for a mass ban of corporations from Twitter, with one exception: Dr. Bronner's, one of the country's most popular organic, fair trade soap producers.
I don't trust any multimillion dollar corporation on Twitter. I do, however, place a reasonable amount of faith in this social justice soap.

Dr. Bronner's is best known for their all-purpose soaps (used for anything from washing your face to killing your dog's fleas, and cleaning your bong) and long-winded labels, which feature references to world religion and calls to end the war on drugs. The main ingredients in the brand's products are both organic and fair trade. Dr. Bronner's commitment to social justice has been present since the brand's inception, and the company now dedicates approximately one-third of its profits to various social causes.

All of this is reflected in the brand's social voice on Twitter. Unlike brands like Sunny D which capitalize on the millennial mental health crisis without doing anything to abate it, Dr. Bronner's shares stories written by real journalists of real value to millennials.
"Some small studies suggest that #psilocybin can alleviate obsessive-compulsive disorder, treatment-resistant #depression, end-of-life #anxiety, addiction, cluster headaches, and, yes, relieve pain." @WIRED https://t.co/sabO1YDThg

They're loud advocates for a fair living wage, having donated over $500,000 to minimum wage campaigns in 2016 and paying above the living wage in their own company. There isn't much to be cynical about here — the brand tweets what they practice, and what they practice is good.
RAISE THE FEDERAL MINIMUM WAGE.

21 states have a #minimumwage at or below the federal minimum of $7.25. Many others aren’t that much above it. @MinimumWageBiz https://t.co/czD9MPLCNI

Constructive Capitalism at Dr. Bronners: • 5-to-1 cap on executive salaries • $18.71 minimum wage for full-time permanent employees • Free health care for staff & their families • Free daily organic vegan lunches • Up to 25% of salary as annual bonushttps://t.co/HduUkftsEF

Even though soap has no direct connection to cannabis, Dr. Bronner's frequently shares stories and posts tweets in support of legalization.
It’s time to end the outdated, racist policy of #cannabis prohibition that shreds productive citizens’ lives and families for no good reason, and disproportionately affects people of color, while resources are diverted away from real crimes.
— Dr. Bronner's (@DrBronner) February 5, 2019
"#Marijuana legalization advocates came into 2019 expecting it to be a huge year for cannabis, and lawmakers around the country are not disappointing them so far."https://t.co/phaijFd3Hp

And while caps lock should be banned from Twitter, I'll make an exception for the random tweets Dr. Bronner's routinely posts about ending the war on drugs.
END THE WAR ON DRUGS.
— Dr. Bronner's (@DrBronner) February 12, 2019
Outside of social causes, I particularly love the brand's tweets that are just basic tenets of human morality. The tweets don't have any cunning wordplay or cynical references to pop culture. Dr. Bronner's sometimes shares moral principles that, simply stated, likely drive down their Twitter engagement.
There's absolutely nothing viral about tweets like these ones — hence, I love 'em.
We can only truly prosper if we contribute to the prosperity of all!

Whatever unites us is greater than whatever divides us!

What's one way to enjoy the weekend without creating waste?
— Dr. Bronner's (@DrBronner) February 22, 2019
There's nothing shareable about death, and yet somehow this tweet exists:
To reach that unreachable star, no matter how hopeless, no matter how far! To fight for the Right without question or pause, to be willing to march into hell for a heavenly cause. For I know if I follow this glorious quest, my heart will lay peaceful & calm when I’m laid to rest!
— Dr. Bronner's (@DrBronner) February 20, 2019
And who else would fill out this Twitter poll besides your radical aunt and your high school creative writing teacher a *little too obsessed* with recycling? Nothing about this tweet would make it viral. That's exactly what makes it good.
Have you ever spent your free time picking up litter?

The retweets, my friends, are also incredible.
Peggy now has a chair that helps her eat and drink comfortably. She loves it! She still hops around the yard and sleeps on her bed, but this makes meal time easier. Having a house chicken is so fun! @EllieLaks #animallover #animalrescue #chickens #gentlebarn pic.twitter.com/9yg5dyLcjX

I don't want to get y'all too high on soap: At the end of the day, Dr. Bronner's is still a brand. They're on Twitter to advocate for causes and to sell their social justice soap. They have a hand sanitizer coming out that will soon be sold at Urban Outfitters. They talk about constructive capitalism.

The brand posts plenty of tweets marketing their products, but there's nothing particularly malicious about them. Dr. Bronner's doesn't play on the 2020 election as Pop-Tarts recently did when they announced they were considering a presidential run. Their marketing-based tweets are plain and simple and limited to soap.
Besides diluting, how do you make a bottle of Dr. Bronner's last longer?

Based on your week, what scent are you showering with this weekend?
— Dr. Bronner's (@DrBronner) February 7, 2019
Dr. Bronner's is a soap with a soapbox. They just it do better than anyone else out there on this brutal, cynical hellscape of a brandscape.
