really tryin to really wrap my head around how max, the notoriously hyper-competitive man with an ever narrowing lead, an unacceptable car, a team in shambles, and plenty of thwarted perfectionism about this season, was sat and posed so happily with the man who's closest to knocking him down from number one. like i know lando's his close personal friend, i get that, they've been explicitly clear about that fact, but it's still fascinating to see how apparently none of the resentment max must be feeling about the state of his season has dripped into his bond with lando and poisoned it. lando's had years of practice of not resenting max for beating him, but max could easily have withdrawn even a little when the competition became closer, let alone misplaced some of his anger at the situation at his friend ("simply lovely" could've hit wrong yk) but nope!!!! it sure seems not anyway!!! something something he's matured over the years maybe but also something something lando is not the same as anyone else he could be fighting for first
