For the ask thing, Pandora Hearts and Vanitas no carte!!
Ah, thanks so much for the ask!!! This one was really really fun to do, as well as very challenging! And it fit right in with my current mood lol so that was fun. xD
Which has the better protagonist: Agh. I love Oz like, a lot, but right now Noe is really speaking to me so I’ll choose VnC for this one (tho if it was Oz vs Vanitas, that might be harder, because Oz is a Much Better Person than Vanitas but I really, really like trying to analyze Vanitas’s character. But Oz might win that round because he is awesome and he had really good development.)
Which has the better villain: Oh. Hm, while my opinion could change as VnC goes on, I might have to give this round to PH because Jack Vessalius was an awesome and incerdibly interesting villain??? And the other antagonistic characters were all really cool and well-developed as well, like the Baskervilles and Vincent.
Which has the better plot: I DON’T KNOW YET XD. So far VnC seems more tightly plotted than PH, but I have no idea where it is going, and PH had a really great plot. For now I might give this round to PH, but this is a comparison I’ll really have to do again once VnC is finished. (Tho VnC def has better worldbuilding, and if that is being considered as part of the plot it might win on that front alone???)
Which has better cinematography: AGH GEEZE. Pandora Hearts had some really nice shots. Like…some REALLY NICE shots, especially later on in the series. But VnC has been consistently really good with that and I think I find the fight scenes easier to follow in this series? Or at least I think so; I know early on in PH at least I had a bit of trouble following the action scenes, but that got better over time too. I think I might hesitantly give VnC this round, though mostly out of a need to be decisive lol because in reality I spend a good deal of time dreamily gaping at both series’ artwork and paneling skills.
Which is more fun: Oh this is hard…both series have made me laugh pretty hard at different times. PH had a higher number of characters that made me laugh possibly, but again that has more to do with its greater length. I might give this one to VnC though simply because Noe and Vanitas as a duo have brought me a lot of laughs and I live for their weird philosophical conversations and arguments, plus Vanitas’s flaily reactions to a lot of things is pretty great.
Which one makes me think the most: Ok this one is the real struggle. For both series I spent so much time analyzing the cover volumes for symbolism and trying to come up with theories, they both make me think so much. Right now I’m putting a lot more thought into VnC because its unfinished and I have like 500 questions, but PH also gave me a lot of philosophical stuff to think about over the course of the series, so if I’m answering for which one is making me think more Right Now then VnC wins, but if its which has had a more lasting impact on my thoughts and given me a lot to mull over, than PH wins.
Which do I read when I want to relax: Really neither series is very relaxing, but PH has a sense of Familiarity since its finished and I can spend more time looking for Nuances and Extra Details and Admiring the Art because I know what is going to happen, so PH wins this round.
Which do I read when I want it to consume me: I HAVE EXPERIENCED SOME PRETTY HIGH LEVELS OF CONSUMPTION WITH BOTH SERIES I WONT LIE. Right now I’m being consumed by VnC because the suspense is KILLING ME, but I was absolutely absorbed when I was reading Pandora Hearts. I hesitantly give this round to PH on the basis that there is more of it to consume me with, but VnC is my current obsession so it kind of like…wins on a spiritual level? xD
Which is my favorite: Okay I am the actual worst at picking favorites. xD I love them both equally. They’re very different in certain ways, and similar in others, but I adore both. If pressured I might choose PH out of nostalgia and because I know the whole series is good while VnC technically still could go downhill (even tho I’m not expecting it to).

*Peers around the corner* “Shh, someone will hear” *Slowly disappears*
Send “Shh, someone will hear” for our muses to have sex in a semi-public place.
Sin under the cut!
Well, well, he’d never had Jack figured for the easily embarrassed type. The fearful request for silence and the blush on the blond’s cheeks only made everything that much more fun…and silence was not what would be given in response. No, not at all. He was in no mood for taking orders.
“What’s the matter, hmmm~?” he purred in the quickly reddening ear of his companion as nimble fingers tangled in the strands of blond hair and pulled firmly to tilt his head back so he could get a look at those emerald eyes and judge the emotions there, “Is the great Jack Vessalius afraid of getting caught with a lowly Child of Misfortune like this? Hmm, especially in your current…position.”
“Position” was emphasized with a buck of his hips that succeeded in pushing Jack more firmly into the brick wall of the alleyway he’d chosen to randomly drag him into. It wasn’t his fault, not really, it was Jack and his wandering hands as they traveled around town running the errands Sharon had assigned him that morning…the carriage rides between the shops and meetings were particularly difficult because Jack got bolder in private spaces. The last straw came between the tailor shop where they’d dropped off several items of clothing for repair and the grocer’s…because Jack’s little ear nips and butt grabs and unexpected grips on the front of his trousers had graduated to his hands actually slipping beneath the material and getting such a hold on him that it had drawn a rather uncharacteristic squeal from him before he could hold it back! He wasn’t in the mood for Jack’s games…and he was wound up tight, too tight to give a shit about waiting until they finished their errands.
Honestly, he hadn’t really considered the location and there WAS a massive risk of being caught…and he could genuinely be in trouble for assaulting someone of noble birth in such a manner as this. Even IF Sharon and Sheryl vouched for him, this would be considered no small offense. Somehow that fact only made him more enthusiastic. And, damn if it didn’t feel too good to even care how loud he was being! To emphasis that fact, another rolling motion of his hips was matched with an unhesitating groan as he let his head fall back, jaw slack and eyelids fluttering at the sensation.
“Oh,” a teasing giggle followed by his lips reconnecting with the nape of Jack’s neck, “Sorry, I keep forgetting to be quiet~”

Top Ten Characters
Tagged by @xblackrequiemx ! As always, this will end with me in friggin’ tears. Choosing is hard.
1. Vincent Nightray | Pandora Hearts
How long I just spent dawdling on google looking at fan art of him is a testament to how much I love him. Forever grateful for his story, shit. So much pay-off. Biggest dork to ever dork.
2. Utena Tenjou | Revolutionary Girl Utena
Came for her iconic fight to wear “boy’s clothes,” stayed for that but also because she is an amazingly fleshed out human being that represents strength and justice and vulnerability and the turmoil of growing up and?! Also a dork.
3. Tsukiyama Shuu | Tokyo Ghoul & Tokyo Ghoul :re
His arc in :re may be my favorite Tokyo Ghoul arc. An oblivious idiot but also a surprisingly intuitive, selfless, loyal friend when pushed, no matter what the anime would have you believe. SUCH A GOOD.
4. Will Graham | NBC Hannibal
Look at him and his doggos and just try to tell me he doesn’t deserve to be here. Deep, intriguing relationship with Hannibal. Empathy. Manages to be kind to the end. Hates people, loves doggos and murder.
5. Kuja | Final Fantasy IX
He literally helped me realize I wasn’t straight. He’s #Classic. He’s awesome. He just wanted to live.
6. Rorschach | Watchmen
“Existence is random. Has no pattern save what we imagine after staring at it for too long. No meaning save what we choose to impose. This rudderless world is not shaped by vague metaphysical forces. It is not God who kills the children. Not fate that butchers them or destiny that feeds them to the dogs. It’s us. Only us. Streets stank of fire. The void breathed hard on my heart, turning its illusions to ice, shattering them. Was reborn then, free to scrawl own design on this morally blank world. Was Rorschach.”
7. Deadpool | Marvel
Some incarnations of Deadpool wouldn’t be on this list at all, including his self in the video game, the movie, and the Daniel Way run. FIGHT ME. Basically a great character, a true hufflepuff. The patron saint of continuing on after making mistakes. Dork.
8. Jack Vessalius | Pandora Hearts
He fucked over every single other character in the series and I still love him. He just needed help. So much help. Jack did nothing wrong. He was a lost innocent and he tried.
9. Kanae von Rosewald | Tokyo Ghoul :re
Most fab daughter, 10/10; senpai will surely notice you one day. Dorkiness runs in the family. I’m still crying.
10. Vanitas | The Case Study of Vanitas
More than a year/15 chapters later, is it still jumping the gun to be this attached to a new series and character? We don’t even know why he “do what he do” yet. But I love him.
Runner Ups/Ones I Would Have Chosen in a Different Mood: Nicolas Brown (Gangsta.), Titus Alexius (Magi), Nagai Kei (Ajin), Johnny Rayflo (Vassalord), Nezumi (No. 6), Luke fon Fabre (Tales of the Abyss), Kaneki Ken and Eto (Tokyo Ghoul), Break, Oswald, and Gilbert (Pandora Hearts), Inaba Himeko (Kokoro Connect), Kid Loki and Ikol Loki (Marvel), Mikaela Hyakuya (Owari no Seraph), Midna (Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess), Poussey Washington, Pennsatucky, and Alex Vause (Orange is the New Black), Claire Stanfield (Baccano!), and Lelouch Lamperouge (Code Geass.
Today I’m only vague-tagging everyone who wants to do it (tag me back) and @puppymintmocha . One day you will do a tag thing. ONE DAY.

you’re angry.
with his finger tapping against his cheek, jack only gave the other man a simple glance. clearly, he was in no mood for TALKING. in fact, for the first time, jack vessalius seemed to be a quiet man today. the moment oswald opened his mouth. he shot him a LONG &. rather foretelling look. he than looked away. — despite not saying a word, it would seem something was bothering the male. it was clear as DAY for anyone to know the man’s regular tone of mood.
‘ you don’t say ?? ’ with voice filled to brim with sarcasm, he once again thought to himself, what a shitty day.
