Elite women wore whalebone corsets that were tightly laced, pulled in by an assistant dresser to achieve a 22-inch waist (10 inches smaller than today's average female waist). The ribs were deformed and the spine permanently curved.
Tumblr media
Ladies reported shortness of breath as their lungs were compressed, constipation and painful indigestion. Over time, the corsets could cause more series injury: 'bent or fractured ribs, displacement of the liver, and uterine prolapse (in some cases the uterus would be gradually forced, by the pressure of the corset, out through the vagina)'.

An Ecclesiastical Introduction
Kamusta and Shalom (Tagalog and Hebrew words for "Hello"). My name is Jan-Michael and it is my upmost pleasure to be a part of this introduction. Such would seem ironic given this first post is ecclesiastical, or should I say, places emphasis on the Book of Ecclesiastes.
Ergo, it is evident that I am a Christ Follower. The question is if I'm a strong follower or do I identify as one with little to no heart change? I pray this introduction gives some understanding to said question.
What Do I Do?
Tumblr media
If I wanted to summarize the aforementioned explanation of oneself with "mystical Biblical-like jargon," I would be a man born into this world, enjoying certain things of this world, but striving to be more like the one not of this world.
A Unique Equation or Formula for Oneself
I really hope what I will do makes you excited especially if you are a fellow Christ Follower. If not, I at least hope I have piqued your interest. I am a-okay with baby steps since I like people and sometimes you have to take your time to invest in those around you.
Below, I have provided a list of my upcoming updates that, I hope, gives a better understanding on what I will do via God's calling on what I should do. Remember I will include either a Biblical blessing or lesson with each update in some fashion or form.
Local business review of Smoothie Social Cafe in Malabar, FL and its use/completion in a The Hero's Journal Sidequest.
My first adventure and its completion in The Adventure Challenge, solo edition.
Unique Biblical insight into Rome utilizing both the TikTok trend of "How often do you think of the Roman Empire?" and "Rome Wasn't Built in a Day and Apparently A lot of Other Things" article in the current issue of Whalebone (The Slow Issue).
Unique Biblical insight into husbands and wives (not just marriage) utilizing geocaching, specifically the geocache, Happily Ever After (GC5KPMQ).
The Art Gallery
I also am an artist and will be showcasing my art in the gallery section. A bit of history for you all, but I used to be simply known by my art moniker when I painted art that was both SFW (safe for work) and NSFW (not safe for work) and shared it on the same platforms. Despite having over 30K followers on IG and almost 10K followers on Facebook, there was so much in-fighting due to the contrasting of art content. As a result, I closed and deleted my art platforms and made new ones with my art split. I am also starting from scratch in attaining a new following. Either my art be more safe or not, there will be a Biblical insight, a blessing or lesson, that will be included either in general or a reflection of my own struggles in my own walk with Christ.
An Ecclesiastical Benediction
Ultimately, our time here on this earth is but a mere speck in the infinite length and girth of existence that has no beginning or end that is God. But knowing that God is with us and seeing our mere time on earth as precious gives hope and thanks and purpose. In conclusion, it is best to end this entry with an Ecclesiastical Benediction:
But if a man lives many years and rejoices in them all, yet let him remember the days of darkness, for they will be many. All that is coming is vanity. - Ecclesiastes 11:8 NKJV
Once again, thank you all my friends for taking the time to read my introduction. I look forward to sharing much more with you all in the future. Until then, may God grant you many blessings and lessons in this life of ours.

Thought #1:
My eyes caught the phrase "PERSISTENT THUNDER SQUALL" in the love poem and for a split- second I thought that was his term of endearment for his lady. Just imagine! The man is whispering sweet nothings into her ear: "Oh, my dear Persistent Thunder Squall [affectionate], I love you."
Tumblr media
Thought #2:
These pieces of scrimshaw fetch a pretty penny at auction. The love poem ending with "PERSISTENT THUNDER SQUALL" was valued over $5,000.00 USD. So ... ya know, it isn't a bad idea to bring this quaint tradition back, and use it as a retirement plan for your descendants.

Men DNI unless you are willing to carve me an intricate whalebone busk, delicately inscribed with images of tall ships and portraits of myself, that I will wear against my heart to remember you by when you are inevitably lost at sea
