it was nice to see her best friend again. one of her favorite people. she understood that it was hard for him to make actual friends, same for sonny. being in the public eye, there is never someone out there who genuinely cares. thankfully, the two found each other.

sonny spent time with him and others for this extravagant event until the night finally ended and it just got to be the two of them. of course staying true to his word, alex snuck one of the wine bottles and the two were hanging out in his room.

mia's first thought upon seeing the news of the royal wedding was thank goodness that's not me. she'd prefer to not relive her high school years, but she wouldn't put it past herself to still destroy a cake worth 75,000 dollars now, a few years later. what surprised her was learning from her grandma was that zahra had reached out about alex claremont-diaz attending the state dinner in genovia. something about damage control and making sure the world knew he wasn't actually a complete nuisance. mia was interested in meeting him, she still flew back to america on occasion and loved learning about everything that president claremont was doing. so she was surprised when she looked around the room at the state dinner and couldn't find him. whatever, he'd show up.

a few minutes later, she saw a pear rolling on the floor and what looked like a head of black hair trying to get it back. mia held back a laugh, the pear trees were something she had to get used to for sure. what was genovia doing with pears of all things? still, she called out to him. her eyes widened when he stepped on the bear and fell in her arms. mia reached out to catch him and was relieved when she did so, considering her giant skirt and how much taller he was. she couldn't help but giggle at his comment. "it's nice to meet you too, alexander gabriel claremont-diaz," she said. "are you okay?"
