If you missed our first Howells Family Benefit, another big event is coming up this Sunday, Jan. 27 at the Irish Wolf Pub in downtown Scranton with a completely different musical lineup, free pizza, and door prizes! It's $10 at the door, and all proceeds benefit the Howells family, who lost their West Scranton home and everything they owned in a devastating fire on Christmas morning. Running from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m., the show features live performances from E57, Reach for the Sky, The Scripts, Threatpoint, Traverse the Abyss, The Crowning, Willrow Hood, and Lauren Minora! On the 10th anniversary of his death, many articles have been published today memorializing Peter Steele, the singer, songwriter, and bassist of gothic metal band Type O Negative, but only a few mention that he passed away in Scranton. As our readers may know, the family of NEPA Scene founder and editor Rich Howells lost their West Scranton home to a devastating fire on Christmas morning. Rich's mother Judy sustained severe burns while saving her husband and autistic son from the second floor of the home. She had to be airlifted to Lehigh Valley Hospital and is still recovering. The rest of the family has had to make it through the holidays with the help of friends and clothing and monetary donations. They have always struggled financially and did not have insurance. Since this tragedy, the arts community has risen up to help Rich's family through a GoFundMe campaign and this benefit. Come out to the F.M.
