RomCom movie plot idea for Paul Wesley and Candice King

Some people said they don’t have enough romantic chemistry, but I think otherwise. Perhaps the TVD characters they played just weren’t the type to pull everyone in? Anyway, I think they have romantic chemistry as actors and have a feeling they’d kill it in a romcom.

Before we get into the plot, career establishments first because they’re vital to romcoms. Candice King’s character (who I will call girl because this is a rough idea not a wholeass fanfic or movie script) is a headstrong, independent arbitration and litigation lawyer who is running to be promoted to partner. On the other hand, Paul Wesley’s character (who I will call boy because, again, rough idea) is a former broadcast journalist and investigative documentarist currently working at a big newspaper.

Setting? New York City, of course! Now let’s move onto taking about the plot.

In New York City, two prominent families are in a huge defamation and wealth battle that escalates into a scandal. One political family is more public about their moves while the other is secretive. The secretive political family has girl’s law firm handling the case and she uses this as an opportunity to get the promotion to become partner. On the other hand, due to boy’s former investigative documentarist status, the newspaper has him lead in gathering more information about the scandal (especially the secretive family’s side).

Boy and girl meet at an important gala where boy learns about girl being a lawyer for the secretive family. In true romcom fashion, boy hatches a plan to get close and use girl for his personal gain in work. They later meet again at a mutual friend’s wedding and their friendship starts. Eventually, the two fall in love after hanging out multiple times, much to boy’s worry because of their careers.

One drunken night, the two accidentally record a conversation they had about the case that is leaked. Girl’s job is put on jeopardy and she discovers the truth about boy hanging out with her. In the end, everything is resolved because boy finds out dirty laundry about the less secretive family that he gives to girl that then leads to her getting the promotion and they all live happily after.

There's this clip of paul and candice from some convention.Not sure what year this was from(Candice had shorter hair so assuming post-tvd).And I don't know what the question was but their topic of discussion was basically 1. skincare 2.Haircut 3.travel diaries and they were acting like they were the only two people in the room.I just love how weirdo they used to be and I wish the show had tapped onto this dorkiness and written that side of them more.Just because there was romance involved doesn't mean they couldn't be goofy together anymore.

Yes I have seen this clip they are so funny together! Even after all these years every time I see a con video of them they are cracking each other up or doing weird stuff as if they are the only two people in the room and not on a stage. When he compliments her hair and she's like you have been with me all weekend now you mention my hair lol. There's some cute clip where Paul crosses his legs like Candice on the stage and just laughing about it and I'm like romcom when?! This clip from December also kills me because one he put #steroline4lyfe as the hashtag and then he's trying to spell facetious while Candice is trying not to die laughing at him.

They really did not utilize their weirdo chemistry enough because it was gold! There's this funny post on Reddit about how Stefan deep down was so bizarre and the OP even says how him and Caroline's weirdness was what sold them on Steroline because it just worked. This is what pisses me off the most about early S7 because that was the time to do more of the dorky awkward romcom stuff and they hardly got any scenes! That's why I love the "thaw" scenes in 7x22 because that was missing for so much of that season, like deep down they are both both just dorky weirdos who fell in love with each other.

S6 and S8 did a much better job of including that romcom-ness though, like I always laugh at the moment in 6x21 when Stefan struts up to Caroline in his suit and she just TURNS AROUND as if that's gonna make him go away. Or when he shows up with the Christmas lights and holds them up for Caroline to choose like a puppy waiting for a treat for doing a trick. Then in S8 he was making fun of her about the sandwich crusts and of course BOTH proposals have hilarious aspects. In the first one Stefan being like "wear this engagement ring as a token of my love" LMFAO or when he got down on one knee before she even closed the door and said "Marry me" like 3 times in 3 seconds.

Just rewatched Steroline and I'm a mess. They deserved better. Caroline deserved to be with the love of her life forever, deserved better than to be his widow on their wedding day. Stefan deserved a love-filled eternity. Or at least, he deserved to be with his wife in his last moments to tell her that he will love her forever. They deserved an eternity together sorry I don't make the rules.

Forevers don't happen after all....

stefan and caroline didn't really have any scene to themselves in s1 but they did have natural chemistry like the one in 1×16.Do you think maybe some writer or director noticed that and that could have led them to write and direct a scene like the bathroom scene in 2×02? Because it was pretty intense.Maybe they wanted to test how it played off on screen.And their chemistry had always been so raw that it felt real.I didn't see that with anyone else and Caroline.I know this goes against the popular notion that caroline has chemistry with everyone.I don't know what it was about Paul and candice but their scenes automatically vibed differently like in 2×18 when their dance had like less than a minute's screentime and yet it was infinitely better than Ma***ine despite z**h and candice being together at the time.

I think it's definitely possible, Stefan and Caroline did happen in the books too and I could see them chemistry testing keeping notes on their chemistry. I think there initial reason for having Caroline turn into a vampire was a do-over for Vicki and they had Stefan mentor her because he failed to mentor Vicki. There's also this article from Feb 2012 where JP says that Caroline was always meant to be "Lexie" and recently she said if Lexie lived her and Stefan would have had a romance which makes me think she said that because that's what she did with Stefan and Caroline.

You know what I always felt with Paul and Candice's chemistry that I don't feel with their other LI's is they say so much to each other with their eyes. That scene in 1x16 is a great example the way that Stefan looks at her and just reads her better than anyone else, like in a cliche way he really sees her. Then in 2x03 you feel it with both of them, especially in the scene after Caroline bites Matt and they talk about how they know they should let Matt and Elena go for their safety but just can't. I think it's why sometimes people think they don't have romantic chemistry but have amazing platonic chemistry because the way they look at each other never changes throughout the series but I don't think that's a bad thing. I think it shows you how strong of a connection they have almost telepathically, and they look at each other in awe so often more than what I guess people are used to which is sexual tension.
