what are your suggestions for starter poetry for people who dont have strong reading/analysis backgrounds

I've answered this a few times so I'm going to compile and expand them all into one post here.

I think if you haven't read much poetry before or aren't sure of your own tastes yet, then poetry anthologies are a great place to start: many of them will have a unifying theme so you can hone in based on a subject that interests you, or pick your way through something more general. I haven't read all of the ones below, but I have read most of them; the rest I came across in my own readings and added to my list either because I like the concept or am familiar with the editor(s) / their work:

Some history facts with Prof. Elsie!

Hey! The name's Elsie, and I'm a history professor at Harmonia University! I specialize in human history, but I'm pretty passionate about history in general so I guess the Askblog Council came to me with all these questions from you guys, heh heh!

You probably saw me a while ago anonymously answering a few of these questions. But I think I'm brave enough now to show my face to everyone and be an official member of the Blog! I believe these questions were asked a while ago, but now I have the time to answer them so...well I guess I should address them eh?

What can you tell us about humans?

Well I think I've mentioned before, and it's probably obvious just by looking around, but they're nonexistent here! They did exist at one point, we were all living harmoniously together...until some unfortunate circumstances that led to a big war between humans and Pokemon. From then on, humans began to disappear and then just...completely vanished, without any warning.

Was it ever stated how all the humans disappeared? Is it simply an extinction event or more of a supernatural thing?

That's a pretty big topic in today's history research actually! After the war, although the Pokemon won by a landslide, there were still a good amount of humans left. Although the roles shifted a little bit, as before Pokemon were often companions to humans, almost like a pet...but now we were more independent. Living among them as civilians.

The complete disappearance is truly an enigmatic event that is a big debate among experts nowadays! Some associate it with a giant meteor shower - the biggest one seen in history that wiped out humans, as us Pokemon are quite durable. There's also been recounts of a blinding, soul crushing flashing beam of light that wiped them all out. Either way, life was becoming more unsustainable for humans as things evolved to fit Pokemon-kind more...that probably accelerated things. But from how fast it happened and the fact that the event was very poorly documented...there's more reason to believe that someTHING supernatural caused it.

What are your thoughts on humans as a whole? How do you feel about their unfortunate fate?

My family was always very close with humans. I've only heard great things about them, and all the cool stories of how my family, against all odds, won the biggest battles in international leagues and tournaments, all thanks to a trainer that knew how to make a small, weakling species like ours, very strong! I grew up with a very positive outlook on humans, and it makes me really sad that things ended the way they did. Like I said earlier, we wouldn't be here if it weren't for the humans. That's probably what led me down this path, honestly. Haha!

What's the geography of the world like? How has the geography changed since the human times?

The humans were in the midst of restructuring and renaming the regions in the world. To make them more...friendly sounding I guess. Certain areas also wanted to be their own thing...so that's where regions like Unova and Alola come from.

When the humans were wiped out, this was an unfinished project that Pokemonkind were determined to finish. Physically, the world is the same. But how everything is divided is probably different from what you're used to.

The region that Harmonia University is in - Arboria - although one of the biggest regions in the world, remained in one piece, somehow! Our downstairs neighbour got split into a few parts...Unova and Alola, as Ive mentioned, and some of the desert areas became known as the Orre region.

Another example where things are different...the Freyurr region! This was comprised of 3 different regions before - collectively known as Scandinavia. After the human extinction, this region became one with 3 distinct areas with their own language and culture.

What happened to Pokeball technology? It seems like it could be dangerous, but on the other hand it could be useful - especially for transportation! And it's low cost, low space, I'm surprised I haven't seen any evidence of the technology being converted for modern use.

Pokeballs are pretty much nonexistent nowadays, near impossible to get your hands on as a normal civilian! It was one of the biggest things that the Pokemon back then had a gripe about with the humans. Although not completely inhabitable, living in a Pokeball was very unpleasant - it's basically like being put into a very deep slumber, for who knows how long. Not much room to do anything or move around in there. Plus, many humans caught and collected tons of Pokemon with no rhyme or reason - many of them were left abandoned in Pokeballs and PC’s, never being able to see the light of day.

Other than for research and education purposes, Pokeballs have been banned all around the world ever since Pokemon civiliazation was born. We don’t even use them to capture our own ferals.

I've heard rumors that humans had experimented with themselves to turn into Pokemon before, but I'm assuming it's all just a myth. Was there ever a possibility that some of the humans ended up becoming Pokemon due to their experiments?

Pah, I'm pretty sure that was all a hoax. I'm sure humans have tried, but honestly they didn't make any breakthroughs in that front. I don't think human genetics were wired in a way that would even make that possible. They were able to kind of do it with Pokemon due to there being a particular species with properties that could allow it. But humans to Pokemon...nah that'd be a complete rewrite of everything! Or maybe...a really fun dream.

Do the Galar fossil Pokemon exist? How do fossil Pokemon work, are they revived or have they just always been around?

Yep, they do exist. But there's a bit of a catch...all of the fossil-revived species living today were revived during the human era, or are descendants of those that were. We've had to abolish a lot of those fossil revival labs, as newly found fossils would just come out as feral Pokemon with really nowhere to go. Now there are some such Pokemon in captivity, but it's strictly for ethical research purposes!

Anyways, I think that's all the questions that were left over for me! Hope that was informative. Our history isn't pretty but I think it's still really important to learn about it all. Haha! Well, if any of you still have questions, or just want to come chat with me...I'll be available!

I don't even know how to start this. I've been reading fics for 13 years straight, like I don't remember the period of my life where I didn't read them cuz I always have some ship active and I'm crazy BL fan. Only a small number of them can make me crazy to the point I don't wanna sleep, eat, skipping my obligations, killing the pain and your sebaciel did everything. I haven't felt like this reading fic..,maybe ever? This is totally another level of me being fascinated by some writer.

I adore sebaciel, I'm in fandom since 2016 but the biggest problem I had with their fics is that - either people go too much OOC with them orr they rush up the things between them, going quickly with sex and feelings. It bothered me so much so I was crawling for good SC fics as crazy!!

After some break with SC, I came back to ao3 and saw your long fic. I started reading it but I dropped it after 3 chapters, I got bored cuz I thought you are gonna just re-type manga and do classic thing which another people do. Quickly, I got disappointed with another one and idk how but I decided to give your fic one more chance and dear lord......that was one of the best thing I have ever read. Maybe even the best.

Like, how smart are you? What's your IQ? Your manage to explain me some things about Kuro plot which I haven't udnerstand by myself. And the way you write Sebaciel relationship. That's everything I have ever wanted. Everything. They have normal conversation and that's it, that's all I need cuz there is everything. I feel electric every time when they talk, fight, do things together, goood the little touches svbjhsdjvbvbvbvbvbsdjvhbdf. I was tense whole fic. I read it for like 10 days, abandon everything until I finished it and now I feel sad ahahhaahha. But you are really something special, cuz I always used to say that manga itself is the best fiction cuz Yana knows the best how to create good Sebaciel energy. You, next to Yana, did the best job. You kept them as they are, never broke the character, and that's what I am most grateful. Slow burn, with drama and angst, love and attention, all misunderstanding, you put all necessary spices for 5 star meal. My fav part is when Ciel told Sebastian to add slamming doors to his most dramatic moments of his life ahahahahahahhaha 😂😂 I laughed like crazy, they are so precious♥ And I really wanted kiss to happen when Ciel lied Sebastian about another demon, that was sooo svbjhsvjhjhvbdf. But okay, you know the best, I trust you fully with this♥

The fact that they are ready to kill each other before they have normal conversation about their feeling is my fetish. I am in love with toxic things. Ciel ready to throw all game just to prove Sebastian that his value is not only his soul, right after he told himself for 1000 times he needs to stay on distance..... I LOVE ITTTT!!! I also need to say that you find PERFECT balance for good plot and romance. Your games and their cases...I just don't know, deep bow for you queen🔥💯After all, you didn't retype drama ahahaha but you manage to keep it canon without changing anything but still adding your spices so it's not ordinary Kuro plot we see every day....

I just have one question. From time to time, I was like a Bard ahahhaha, so sick of their games and my head hurting me, but on a good way. I am clear about Ciel but what about Sebastian and his disgust for Ciel's nicer, soft, emotional side? I know Ciel doesn't have it a lot, but would Sebastian still be grossed out about it as he was at the beginning of a contract or not? Keeping in mind that he is more and more obsessed with a boy?

So, that's all. Hi! Ooh, thank you so much for your amazing, wonderful essay! I can't tell you how happy it made me! I think the electricity was already started being cut off when I got it, so I could see I have some really lengthy ask, but it wouldn't load. It was the torture of the most delicious kind :D

Like you, I've been reading fics for ages now, and the moments where I find some fantastic story that won't let me sleep or work or even blink are always the happiest and the brightest spots I remember. So it's extremely flattering to know that my story has become something similar to other people.

I love writing about smart characters, but most of them are definitely smarter than me! The benefit is that since I'm writing, I can think and plan everything in advance. In real life, I only wish I were as quick-witted and inventive. Alas, the best ideas and arguments come to me when they are no longer needed.

I love slow burns, and I love characters who abhor the idea of expressing their feelings, so Ciel and Sebastian have the most perfect dynamic in my eyes. I feel like I could spend the eternity just enjoying their Gothic world with their games, arguments, plots, and so on. Them antagonizing each other only to instantly team up against the common enemy is my most favorite thing in the world.

As for your question, right now, Sebastian would be thrilled if Ciel were to show a softer and more vulnerable side - at least in relation to him. Well, a part of him would feel the automatic need to mock him for it anyway, some habits don't die easily, but Sebastian's feelings have evolved a lot, plus Ciel is cold more often than he is not. So Sebastian treasures every word of praise, every hint of appreciation and need because they are so rare - he's come to crave them, and he has memorized all known cases of them by heart.

What about the broken souls wandering with love in them?

You know the thing about the love that has been cherished, beautifully sculptured for years and years in a way that it stays in your heart forever while no one has ever corrupted it for you, is that, you have to let it go one day, from both the sides. Then, comes the eternal life, we all don't know about orr how it's felt, maybe the "wandering souls full of love" live their life's beautifully among the stars in the "undiscovered universes". The spiritual life is very vast and unknown and, love is a part of it. Yet, that spiritual love doesn't leave memories for the living, but scriptures are the most felt and purest form of memory. That's why mesmerized lovers tends to write more and more for their loved ones so that one day, someone will experience the love they had for their significant other, through the words that will never die.

“When David gave thanks, he used everything in him: “I give You thanks, O LORD, with my whole heart” (Psalm 138:1). David’s life exemplified exuberant praise and worship of the LORD.

Psalm 138 gives us a glimpse into why David was so exuberant about the LORD. He excitedly praised God because “On the day I called, You answered me; my strength of soul You increased” (138:3). David’s fellowship with God was so intimate, God knew that the moment He answered David’s prayer, David would give Him praise.

The first Christmas was a time of many answered prayers. Just imagine how many people—Simeon, Zechariah, Anna, Elizabeth, Mary, and countless others—had prayed for the coming of the Messiah, saying “next year in Jerusalem,” “maybe this year will be the year?” Now their prayers were answered.

And, just like David in Psalm 138, they gave exuberant praise to God. It was almost beyond description as Mary recited her Magnificat (Luke 1:46–56), Zechariah prophesied (1:67–79), Simeon gave his praise (2:29–32), and the very angels cried out saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom He is pleased!” (2:14). Not only was God faithful but, imagine, “God was pleased!”

The people had been praying for this very event for thousands of years. Wonder, amazement, and awe are words that cannot fully express the coming of the Messiah. But if we didn’t try to use words to describe it, the very rocks would cry out (19:40).

This Christmas, what answers to prayer have you had that lead you to praise God with exuberance the way David did in Psalm 138? Not only did God keep His word in the first coming, but He is coming again to take us to heaven where there will be no more tears, pain, sickness, cancer, or depression, and we will see our loved ones again.

To quote a hymn from the past, “When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be. When we all see Jesus, we’ll sing and shout the victory.”

A fusion of jazz, 90's NYC hip-hop, and Middle Eastern music, this album harbors a vibe like no other and a rooted story within. These three genres are blended beautifully together through structure, rhythm, melody and star-striking solos from each member of the band. The solos flow from instrument to instrument perfectly and the group seems to be in that state of "musician communication harmony" together. In particular, I enjoyed the groovy and flowing bass lines which Eli Orr rips out on bass guitar with a nice, rich, but synth-like tone. Somewhat dark yet light at the same time, Mayraz delivers his usual style of production while simultaneously experimenting with tinges of murkiness and gloom, resulting in the aforementioned dark/light contrast. I, personally, could not help but get up and dance to some of the tracks on here. My only real critique here is that the titular track (Track 5: Dybbuk Tse!) falls kind of flat in comparison to the rest of the album and the opening vocal sample on it feels out-of-place. Finally, I think the album art is surreally beautiful and worthy of mentioning here because it is just so cool. Very much worthy of it's high rating, I would recommend this album to anyone interested in or looking to get into fusion/contemporary jazz.

["Can you lead us to a happy ending?"]

In another timeline, Tyria perished. After witnessing the events that led to Tyria's destruction, Trahearne's soul was sent back in time towards a pivotal point in the timeline - The Silverwastes.

Maybe this time, the balance won't break. Maybe with the knowledge of what happened, he can fix things.

Aka, what if the Trahearne cancelled the Pact Fleet launch and waited for the Commander to return, and why? I planned this to be a Beings of Creation AU originally, but it could work as regular AU kinda...

And some additional dialogue, mostly between 'Lord Faren' and Trahearne to remind myself

"What did I just watch? And why did you make me watch this?"

Trahearne's tone was cold, he couldn't help it. How could he, when he just had to watch his husband suffer and die? When he watched Tyria get destroyed, and now the Mists were slowly collapsing?

He didn't expect this when he passed onto the Mists, to be secluded and brought to what was called 'a plane separate from the rest of the Mists'.

"To prepare you, I suppose."

"For what? The end has already come and gone, Lord Faren. And just who are you?" The sylvari turned on around to face the noble, who clearly isn't just a human noble at this point.

"Well, not quite," Faren spoke calmly, whilst a tarot card spun slowly upon his hand, "We may have one last chance."

He completely dodged his second question, it seems.

"How? And just because I have this knowledge, it doesn't mean I can fix things."

"So you're telling me you're willingly to let Tyria die, or let Alex suffer like that?"

"That's not what I said! If I could, I would grab whichever time would let him live- for both of us!" Trahearne growled through gritted teeth. Having to watch Alex suffer quietly, even if his husband didn't complain, it still made his heart break. It was worse when he couldn't reach out to hold his husband at his lowest points. It didn't matter if he got back up after each time he was knocked down.

And Faren, damn that Faren, kept smiling. With a flick of his wrist, the tarot card was crushed within his hand. Another flick, and he procured a pocket watch out of it. A few steps, he closed the distance between them, and pressed the watch into his hand. With just the touch, Trahearne could feel the intense magic from it. While he did necromancy, he could tell that this magic was different. It was beyond even that of Alex's pure leyline magic.

Like it made up the very fabric of their world.

"Then take this chance. I can use this to send your soul back to a pivotal point in time."

"What about this time then? If I change things..."

"Then it will simply be re-written. The only hint I can give you is that the two of you need to live."

"You cannot give me any more than that?"

Faren shook his head, looking genuinely apologetic... and wary of something. Fine, Trahearne has dealt with less information than this when it came to researching Orr. He turned the watch over in his hand.

"And how do I use this?"

"Simply wind it up." Trahearne raised an eyebrow, efore doing as Faren said. After fully winding it up, he felt the watch shake in his hand, before a burst of chrono magic came from the watch, and his mind blanked out.

When he regained his senses, he found himself staring at a map of the Silverwastes. He remembered this. He had just finished arguing with Alexander about launching the Pact fleet towards the Maguuma Jungle to attack Mordremoth. Alex wanted him to wait for him, begged him to just wait till he finished looking for the Master of Peace. That it was too risky.

Thinking back now, Trahearne could see why. They were flying over the Jungle Dragon's territory for Pale Tree's sake. Why was he so adamant back then? But he knows better. He knows how this goes. He knows that if his fellow sylvari get too close to the jungle, those not of strong-mind will turn.

And so he knows what he has to do. With a determined look, he marched out of the tent. Ignoring the human outside who nobody seemed to notice at all.

He won't- can't let Alex or Tyria go through this pain again.

She may or may not have left a certain Exemplar locked in the reliquary of Abbadon...

Threatening her is one thing. But Anwen draws the line at throwing shade on Trahearne.

Page of Swords - the most thoughtful/intellectual youth your character knows.

She has a particular fondness for Gorrik. For his chaotic interest in many subjects, his wild enthusiasm, his bouts of energy and constant hyperfixation on entomology and paleoentomology.

The restoration of Orr took another blossoming turn when the young asura managed to identify the species of the - until then thought extinct - polenisator of the fabled Orrian Nightshade.

Recently dubbed Trahearne's flower for its dark emerald foliage and deep purple blooms.

But also for the constant support and companionship he offers Taimi, and the profound attachment he seems to have for her too, when she would have expected him to resent her for the rest of their days, for the death of Blish.

ー☆* Ten of Wands - what is the heaviest burden your character has had to shoulder?

Leading the Pact in Maguuma was a horrifying experience for her. In addition to the obvious toll the defeat of the fleet took on her, the urgency of their mission, the growing realisation of her feelings for Trahearne and the gentle yet constant beckoning of the Egg, she was crippled with worry because two of the people she loved the most in the world – Meryw and Faren – were in mortal danger.

The only time she ever felt a greater weight on her shoulders were a few seconds – a question hushed in the deathly silence of a crystal cave before the horror of reality imposed itself to her and her world crumbled around her.

Her heart no longer beating with the echo of the other half of her soul.

A crystal shard piercing the heart of her daughter. And the world turning for help to yet another dead dragon's champion.

"What do we do, now?"

"I don't know."
