The feelings and her thoughts are too intense that she doesn't get the chance to express them. Instead of a reply, you get pulled into a very intimate hug, her face between your shoulder and neck as she breathes in your scent.

It's alright. If you're new here, you can check the ♡wereshart tag below this post to see the previous things I've written about her.

I haven't officially made it into a fic yet, so this is a good excuse to complie and recap everything into a headcanons post.

Werewolf Shadowheart headcanons

[ fluff, au, nb!reader ]

She's a late bloomer with lycanthropy

Maybe it was the half-elf genes contradicting against her elf father's lycanthropy. Half-elves have a drastically different lifespan and growth sprouts than both elves and humans.

In this au, it started showing during act 2 of the game. There were several hints sprinkled in act 1 but nothing major reveled.

Most werewolf transforms take years of progress, slowly easing the body into its new shape and powers.

But in Shadowheart's case, her body decided to condense these years into months and sometimes weeks. It's major changes after another and each night is more confusing than the last.

Even if she tries to suppress it, her powers evolve so fast that if something worked yesterday, it probably wouldn't work today.

She wouldn't confide a low approval Tav with it, instead she will try to hide it from them or conceal it as much as she can.

With a high approval, she will come to you one night for help. You'll notice an unusual set of fluffy ears on her head as she awkwardly explains what's happening.

But in either cases, Tav will end up knowing because there's a major transformation event at the end of act 2 under the full moon.

Shadowheart loses control fully, she is not herself and her primal urges cloud all the sense from her brain.

It can go in different ways, either ending up in a surprise encounter fight in the middle of the night where you don't have any of your equipments or weapons.

Or a multiple dialogue checks where you try to reason with her.

Being in a romantic relationship with her at the time would make both the fight and skill checks harder, because her instincts urge her to dominate you as her mate.

Having Halsin would make passing the checks easier, likewise having Minthara would make the fight easier because she will be the only one with equipments.

Her werewolf powers type would depend on if she chose Shar or Seluna, although both of them still control different sides of the moon and will give her different boosts.

If the player chose Durge then they'd have a more heart to heart talk with her in the aftermath where they also relate to her struggle. They know what it's like to lose command of their body.

You can either encourage her to embrace her werewolf side, gaining a powerful shapeshift spell in battle and wolf ears & tail.

Or advice her to suppress it, muzzles and collars included if the need arises.

Talking about her werewolf powers, it would definitely heighten her senses. An advantage to survival and perception checks.

There is also the possibility of a mating bite if you're romantically evolved, where she gets an event to reapply it whenever a long amount of rests pass.

Her teeth are sharp, contrasting her soft lips.

Full moon and werewolf Shadowheart

Shadowheart

Throughout her life, she'd always felt abnormally restless around the full moon. As if its light was desperately attempting to pull her closer with no avail, a call left unanswered.

She had always chalked it up to that moon witch and her unpredictable tricks, that it must be a pathetic attempt to steer her away from Shar. Not once did she suspect that it was her own body that was to blame.

After her lycanthropy reared its head out of the blue during your gang of misfits adventure through Faerun, did Shadowheart become acutely aware of the sudden changes in herself.

While the enhanced hearing and sense of smell was an added benefit, she could easily bury the primal surges of emotions that would come up every now and then. As long as she wasn't sprouting a tail or ears, as far as she was concerned, it was going smoothly.

Well, one night, when the moon seemed larger than it normal is, its light shining directly onto her. Tossing and turning ontop of her bedroll, Shadowheart woke up in cold sweat in the middle of the night.

Something was deeply wrong, she felt cold and hot at the same time. A primal scream left her throat as she curled around herself.

Waking up all of the camp, Shadowheart finally stood up in front of them. A fuzzy pair of ears twitching above her head and a wild agitated tail of fur swishing behind her.

Her eyes met yours, She growled, her teeth sharper and larger

Something deep insided screamed at her to bite, mark and claim you. She lunged at you in a second.

Laezel

She was the first to act and immediately pull Shadowheart back when her teeth were mere inches away from your neck. Laezel quickly yelled at Karlach to come and help her restrain the midtransfomation werewolf.

Even the both of them struggled to restrain Shadowheart with her unusual strength.

Laezel barely reacted to any of the threats and promises of a brutal death that Shadowheart threw her way, it wasn't until Shadowheart started challenging her and targering Laezel pride did it start agitating the githyanki.

"Shut your mutt's mouth, or i will see to finding a muzzle myself." She sneered your way.

Karlach

"Settle down now, Soldier." Karlach still kept a friendly demeanour as she held Shadowheart down, laughing awkwardly at her attempts to bite Karlach's fingers off despite the growing worry inside of her.

Man, this really wasn't the way to wake someone up. She was soundly sleeping, and now she has to keep a wild dog under control, oh well what else are friends for then?

"Uh Gale...a little help here, please?" With Laezel bickering with Shadowheart again, Karlach felt the werewolf taking advantage of the distraction to slip through her hold.

Gale

"A lycanthropy transformation in front of my own eyes, and i missed it." Gale was too occupied observing Shadowheart's state as a mage hand wrote down all the details in a floating scroll near him.

With curiosity filled eyes, he stepped closer to insept Shadowheart's teeth with no regard to the absolute chaos the three women in front of him were going through. Only when Karlach spoke to him did he snap out of it.

"Oh yeah, of course." With a simple incantation, he immediately paralysed Shadowheart with a hold spell. "Now, where was i?"

Getting even closer, Gale began inspecting her ears that seemed to have magically sprouted with no visible strains on her skin or head.

Wyll

When Karlach let go of the now frozen Shadowheart, Wyll couldn't help but feel like it was a bad idea. While he didn't personally hunt down any werewolves before, he had heard many tales about how unpredictable they become when exposed to direct moonlight.

And true to his words, from the corner of his eyes he could see the fuzzy tail slowly breaking out of the magic hold.

Wyll wasted no time in pulling Gale away. The wizard was mere seconds away from getting his face clawed off by Shadowheart's sudden attack.

"Goddammit, Shadowheart snap out of it." He pleaded, attempting to speak reason to his friend.

What else could they do when a now fully transformed and unrestrained werwolf stood in front of them, bathing under the moonlight in all of her glory.

Astarion

Shadowheart was going to tear them all limb from limb, Astarion was sure of it.

Chaos ensured as everyone frantically scattered and attempted to defend themselves, with no armour or weapons they were practically a slab of delicious meat on a silver plate for Shadowheart.

He needed to think of something and quickly.

His eyes met yours.

In quick motion, he immediately pulled you to his side, whispering in your ear to just play along.

Turning his attention back to Shadowheart who was tearing down the table Laezel was using to defend herself with, he took a deep breath then yelled.

"HEY! FILTHY DOG" he was immediately regreting his stupid idea, "HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE ME DRAIN YOUR LOVER'S BLOOD DRY?"

To seem more convincing, he bared his needle sharp fangs against your neck.

A single droplet of blood tickled down youe throat, he could taste the delicious thing against his lips.

Huh, you know, you actually taste pretty go-

The world faded to black.

The aftermath

"Is he still not waking up?" You stretched your arms above your head, sitting down to your kneeling lover as she casted yet another healing spell.

"Chk. He's as fragle as dry twig." Laezel tended to her wounds on the opposite side, Wyll helping her disinfect the claw marks on her back.

"Well, that dry twig is the reason any of us kept our throats attached to our bodies," Wyll tried to reason as he eyed Shadowheart cautiously.

"Amazing, truely amazing." Gale was sitting on the other side of Shadowheart, occasionally searching her head for any traces of the ears that were there the night prior. "It just disappeared, a whole structure of flesh and bones with perfect connection and nerves vanishing overnight."

From afar, you could see Karlach finally coming back with the buckets full of water from the nearby river. "How is Astarion's condition? Still sleepy?"

"Yeah." You answered, looking at the elf laying unconscious on the bedroll in front of you. The idea of pouring water on him to wake him up did cross your mind for a second.

Feeling someone's eyes on you, you turned your head to face Shadowheart.

"How's your neck?" She whispered with concern in her eyes. "I didn't go too far, did ?"

Rubbing the marked flesh on your neck, you saw her eyes follow your fingers as you traced over the teeth and bite marks.

How do you think a wereshart who was a werewolf since childhood (and probably went though horrors unimagined in shar’s church for it) would react to a selûnite werewolf tav? Them being the same thing she suffered for but being free + happy + in tune with themselves and all

Werewolf Shadowheart would've convinced herself that her suffering is true religion. That all the torment she went through was in Shar's great plan for her.

That selunite werewolf reader is lesser than her, weaker, more pathetic. Because how else can Shadowheart justify their happiness? There must have been a purpose for her suffering, she thinks it made her superior in some way.

She loathes you, masking her envy with disgust, more so than she normally feels for selune followes in general and she herself can't understand why. Why does it get her so angry when you don't suppress your wild side, when you happily smile with your sharp teeth, when your tail isn't tucked and hidden between your legs.

It's the moon witch illusions, she tells herself, they definitely brainwashed you to not realise how unfit your kind is for civilisation, how monsters like you deserve to be collared and leashed. Monsters like her.

So why aren't the other companions running in horror at the sight of your transformation? Why is Karlach petting your werewolf form and why does Gale offer you extra meat? Why was she shunned and threatened with weapons during her training whenever she transformed, whenever mother superior turned a blind eye.

Until she was forced to use her claws, to rip throats and bite them to the bones. Until she herself became the monster they all claimed her to be.

She hates you, almost more than she hates herself, yet she can't take her eyes off of you, can't wash your scent away from her nose, can't stop hearing your purrs and growls of happiness from her ears.

Durge is genuinely unhinged. Through all the flashbacks and hints we see of their past through the game, one is more horrible than the last.

They dunked their butler's head into the open bladder of the guy they were preforming a vivisection on and choked him in their piss because he made a mistake. Source from the noblestalk flashback.

The sexual implications of their relationship with Gortash, a tyrant who killed and enslaved endless people. I don't recall the Orin implications but taking your words on it, it would kind of be considered incest since she is also a bhaalspawn. She is even a product of incest herself.

They have a long history of animal abuse and mistreatment, too. They aren't below preying on souls weaker than them. The cat on the rooftop in moonrise towers who mentions how Durge kicked her a lot, also the squirrel in act 1.

What they did to Alfira too.

Shadowheart, Minthara, and maybe arguably Karlach have a dark past. All of them have murdered and tortured people in the past.

Minthara

Minthara is the most extreme out of them. Not only did she participate in the cruel nature of drow culture, but also the fact she doesn't exactly see anything wrong with it. Yes, her crimes, her own crimes, not the ones she was brainwashed to commit, pale in comparison to Durge, but it still would make any sane good person turn away from her.

She doesn't react much to Durge's cruelty through the game. If anything, she encourages it and at times turned on by it. I don't think she would encourage Necrophilia and incest but those might be her only hard no. The rest like gore and turtore is not a deal breaker to her.

Minthara is the companion that Durge could be the most free with when it comes to following their dark urges. As long as they don't hold the knife to her own throat. She does think it is freaky and weird of Durge but she is used to freaky and weird from drow culture.

Her moral compass does exist. It's mostly evil. Her only deal breakers are when you betray her own trust, if you hurt other people she doesn't care.

She used to be in love with Orin, even worshipping her. Ingame. But Orin betrayed her trust so Minthara loathed her from that day on.

Although I have a feeling that she condems needless cruelty, sure, sate your appetite, but don't let it consume you. If you can't seize control over your own urges when it matters, then how are you any different from a frenzied mutt? Control yourself and prove to her you are a sane person and she will stay with you.

Shadowheart

Back in her Sharran days, she admits to torturing and breaking prople. She lied and manipulated do many people to get her way and to serve Shar.

It would be hypocritical of her to judge you on your past, no matter how much darker it is than hers in comparison. Especially a Selunite Shadowheart who would feel like she owes her life to you interference back at the nightsong confrontation.

But a Selunite Shadowheart wouldn't indulge your dark urges, she will only forgive your past. If you still seek bloodlust then either let her help you through it, or both of you can go your separate ways.

That's only after the ending tho, during your travel days, she will turn a blind eye to your gorey displays and chalk it up to the cruel road you've faced. She will give you the benfit of the doubt until the city is saved.

Her parents still had hope in her seeing the truth one day and waking up, so she tries to extend the same courtesy to you for as much as she can.

A Werewolf Shadowheart would fall into the same category if she had ended up a Selunite. Although being a werewolf and all, she will relate to your struggle more than normal Shadowheart ever could. She also has urges that steer her to darker thoughts and desires that she battles everyday, the two of you can get through this together.

Karlach

Now her case is...very speical. Technically, she committed no sins or crimes on her own because she was enslaved during her time fighting in the demon wars. Yet still she killed many, she has never developed an appetite for blood because of it.

She doesn't shy away from killing tho, it's an average everyday thing for her now. She will kill and fight if she had to in order to survive.

But, because she has lived among demons, even got almost close to befriending one, she has seen much worse than anything Durge could've ever done.

Incest and Necrophilia barely scratch the surface of what devils get down to. Let alone the humiliation and truely sickening things they force upon their victims. Karlach bared witness to all of that.

She wants Durge to change, not to end up like these devils. She reassures them that they are better than this, that they have the strength to change and not go down this disgusting road.

She isn't phased by it like Minthara, but unlike Minthara, she never endorsed or participated in the cruelty around her.

I think she'll have a heart to heart with Durge about it. Try to get them to see people as real people with souls and emotions, not just cattle for slaughter.

A single life is very precious, especially to someone like her who was robbed of their own life. She will never forgive Durge for robbing an innocent person out of their life.

But she would definitely freak out over the Gortash relationship thing, because more of personal reasons. You fell in love with that monster as he is? The same man who robbed her of her own heart and betrayed her trust? She would genuinely break down.

Gale

He is a very very speical case.

Gale is naive in a way. Not to infantilise him, but he tends to view the world through rose colored lenses. Part to being human, another part to having lived in the lap of luxury and privilege.

Gale saw the best of what the world had to offer, Gale fell in love with a zealous benevolent goddess who's good alligned, Gale was isolated in one of the richest cities in Faerun with rich scholars for friends.

Gale thought Minthara was just misunderstood when he met her.

He is aware of good and evil, he just has such a distorted view of evil that he never recognises it when it's face to face with him. He forgets that evil people can be charming, beautiful and funny and they might just be his own friends.

In his world view, he is good, therefore anything and everything he interacts with willingly must be good.

He is delusional.

And it doesn't help that life and sheer luck only encouraged his delusions, only soldified his views that bad people can be quelled by ordering everyone a shot at the tavren and that no one truly would wish to harm someone else given the chance right?

He will make endless excuses for Durge's past. So many far-fetched justifications to fit you into the box of good people he keeps in his orbit.

That is, if Durge never confronts him with their present urges to still participate in bloodshed.

Otherwise he will just downplay your confessions of guilt and brush off your unsettling comments. Always going the extra mile to give you all the benfits to the doubt.

Unless you make him face the cold truth reality in the form of a slaughtered grove of innocent people.

Even then, while he particpated, his delusions still make excuses for you, telling him there must be a reason for all of this, he just has to have faith in you.

Ans in the aftermath when it's just him and you, kneedeep in gore at camp. He revolts at the sight of you, sneers and glares into your face. Fully blaming everything on YOU. That YOU must be corrupting him, fully driving his agenda that he is good and will always be good! It's you who is responsible for his own actions.

It's also these delusions of him being a good person that inflate his ego enough to let him persure the crown of Karsus, that makes him think he is beyond the corruption of greed while simultaneously blaming any and all of his actions that he doesn't like onto Durge and saying they must've corrupted him.

He isn't just ignorant, he is choosing to remain ignorant.

Durge can manipulate a power hungry Gale into staying with them even while they openly bathe in the remains of corpses. If they feed into his delusions.

Hell, one time, even Karlach stepped up.

"How come....she gets to-" you tried to speak between each mewl and moan, back arching on the bed as your thighs shook. "Shadowheart, she's effected too so why do I have to stay here while-" another loud gasp leaves you breathless.

She'd fall into each one of Reader's traps without realising it. Thinks she's being very clever when she punishes Tav for all of their brattiness without realising it's exactly what Tav wants.

Shadowheart would get heated up, feel the need to prove herself, and fuck Tav until they're a mumbling apologetic mess. Not realising that Reader is planning to repeat the exact same thing tomorrow.

Honestly, probably Minthara would be the only one to see through Reader for who they really are. Uses actual punishment like neglect play or orgasm denial to teach Tav a lesson on using their big adult words when wanting something instead of making empty threats.

You threaten to go sleep with someone else? Go ahead, if you want their blood on your hands so badly.
