reading death of a naturalist in english today and with the whole ‘i love my home but it will kill me’ theme i immediately thought of r in ur pride au of course….. “he loves his home so fiercely he doesnt feel like its his he never wants to leave he thinks if he doesnt get out #he might die his home is everything 2 him he wants to turn his home into something that does not make him so unbearably sad and #lonely and like a stranger or he will not be able to stay here he. wants his dad to like him as well as loving him he wants the things he #loves to love him back he wants. a friend.” u were crazy for that……!!!!!

yes omg omg exactly!! im having a lot of fun with that whole thing and just making his life very miserable…he really does love his home very much but he is also just so sad there. he has no friends and doesn’t feel like he has a purpose there or in the community like the other men his age and he knows he is such a disappointment to his dad and he feels very lonely…but now especially when his home is threatened by the pit closing he loves it more than ever + wants to save it but even if he does that doesn’t really change his place in it. it’s also very fun to write about that from s’ perspective because to a certain extent he really just. doesn’t get that at all so there’s a bit of conflict there. as far as s is concerned…they’re together now and he wants r in london with him but also he just can’t see why that’s complicated like. r is not happy at his home = he should leave it. especially with s’ own experience of leaving his home even though the circumstances were very different he can’t really get his head around the idea of the love r has for his home even if he is unhappy there. and that causes problems

recently started listening to the beatles due to my perusing of ppls spotify playlists and may i ask…… what drew you to the beatles/what do you love enough to be an active fan? your posts abt them are entertaining and ig i found myself just wondering aimlessly and i was like….. there’s an ask box just ask so! hi!!

woohoo how has that been going are you liking it!! what have you enjoyed what have you not so much enjoyed!! as for what drew me to the beatles at first itd definitely be my parents : ^ )) we are a beatles family i grew up listening to the beatles in my mums car and in the kitchen when my dad was cooking...my dad likes to say that he does not challenge people when they say they hate the beatles but he does think theyre a bit stupid...and i guess what i love about them is just how much of their stuff i enjoy + i grew up enjoying!! there are other artists where i enjoy such a big quantity of their music as i do the beatles but none of those other artists have nearly as much music to enjoy as the beatles so. they make up a far bigger proportion of the music i listen to than any other one artist + there are so many beatles songs that i love and that remind me of a certain family member or a time in my life they are kinda threaded through my life in a way (as are the kinks + brendan benson + kate bush + david bowie etc)...songs like in my life + norwegian wood + shes leaving home + blackbird + if i fell...a day in the life + martha my dear...genuinely some of the most beautiful songs i have ever heard some of the most dear to my heart songs ive got!! songs i remember my dad putting on and going nel listen to this!! if i had two and a half minutes to live in my life by the beatles is probably the song id want to hear to be honest. and ive got to give them that. like i know ive said it before but truly...for all the jokes...i do indeed think the beatles are that good..well sawry!

oh my good what a lovely answer to my beatles ask wow….. first off as for how the listening is going it’s slowed down but i’m surprised by how good they are!! i wasn’t expecting it, i shockingly knew few of their songs other than what’s on the radio but i already liked i wanna hold your hand and eleanor rigby from when i heard it in Yesterday (u know that movie?) and went to listen to them on my own but i never ventured further; i remember also singing blackbird for an assembly in school and thinking it was beautiful. anyhow nowadays— listened to why don’t we do it in the road (arguably the horniest song of all time) bc it was on this playlist and lo and behold i was tapping my foot!! so i realised oh my god— officially an Enjoyer. then again and again a song came on shuffle, i liked it, checked who it was by and saw them. two songs that stood out to me were you’ve got to hide your love away and baby you’re a rich man, (which i liked just cause i thought the beat was so funky!!) but the first one just really got me lying in my feelings like a puddle bc of how like,, tender it was?? idk i just feel the concept of two lovers trying to cope and clinging to each other through this is just….. also it was mixed up in all my other experiences from the time ex. a fic i was reading and all my feelings about that so it just has a special place in time for me. love when that happens!! true for in my life too ur so right for saying that abt in my life, actually. surprised by the sheer everything it can verbalise like it can make you feel so laid bare, even if you can’t relate to what specific experiences he’s singing about. i certainly can’t but someone nearing the end of their life reflecting on their loves and the one person that stands out is just beautiful to me and again very special considering the fic i was reading: all the emotions are tangled up.

when you talked about how they’re sort of thread throughout your life and how it connects you to your family it genuinely made my heart ache i know what you mean. family and nostalgia is always so inevitable i guess. anyway have a good day!! <33
