I finally cracked, it finally failed, I outgrew my disguise

Teeth pull, sharpening, leaving behind their former dullness

Spine bones crack and reform to accommodate wings and a tail

Blood leaks down my back as horns reveal themselves

I blink and feel each and every pair of eyes emerge

Bones break and crackle and pop as they become what should've always been

Anyone unfortunate enough to be near should run for their lives, by now, just one glance at me would make a human lose their mind,

I'm not afraid, because this is how it was always supposed to be, so I'm more than happy to become whatever it is I'm becoming, and whatever this is has always been here, hiding, waiting, looming

But then I look down, and none of it's real, not of it ever was, becuase it never will be, no matter how much I felt it like it was.

Am still having thoughts on that shapeshifter/weredragon thing. Thinking of repurposing those knock-off Wolf's Rain characters from that one idea I had and using them for it but having a difficult time designing shit.

Thoughts thus far:

the shapeshifters/weredragons are descended from proper, greater dragons. Some are born weredragon and some become weredragon via a blood pact with a dragon/weredragon or possession of a cursed/blessed object belonging to a dragon.

The greater dragons are largely dormant or only in very remote locations in the modern era due to humans hunting them and being sensitive to polluted environments

Monster hunters still target the now rare greater dragons and weredragon kin.

Weredragons originally start off only being able to transform into vertebrates of similar size to their human form. Typically things like wolves or deer or big cats or catfish or crocodiles. Eventually they can transform into a dragon shape comprised of the creatures they most often turned into.

As the weredragons gain in skill they can learn to transform into much somewhat larger and smaller forms. Transforming into smaller forms for weredragons can involve leaving their excess mass in the form of a lump of gelatinous flesh or compressing it into a pearl or gem the dragon carries with them or hides in a secure location. Transforming into larger forms involves absorbing mass from the air/water/earth around them and releasing it as steam and heat when they change back.

Weredragons with the highest level of skill in shapeshifting can split their mass into multiple bodies that they can control simultaneously or transform into things like plants or mimic nonliving things like rocks and vehicles.

Weredragons can learn magic but finding a teacher is difficult.

Weredragons can spit fire and generate electricity/call lightning once they've gained a dragon form.

Weredragons are holy aligned beings so their bodies and voices are harmful to completely unholy beings (ie. demons and vampires and such).

Weredragons can learn how to communicate with reptiles and fish.

A weredragon's dragon form typically weighs about twice as much as their human form.

Weredragons can learn to transform into just about any kind of animal, natural or magical, extant or extinct. Given they can figure out how the anatomy should work and have a decent idea of what it looks like.

Full Name: Skathi Turin Age: (plot-dependent) late 40s Species: Giant-Kin (Frost Giant & Uthgardt); Weredragon Gender: Agender (AFAB; she/her) Sexuality: Pansexual

APPEARANCE FC: Olga Kurylenko's makeup (as Etain in Centurion) + Rhea Ripley (face & body minus the tattoos)

Skathi stands at 7'5" (1.65 m). Her irises are a bright blue. Her canines are more like fangs, she blushes blue rather than red or pink, and her skin is an icy blue (nearly white). She wears her waist-length, black hair in a long braid. Her physique is very muscular yet even (not top-or-bottom-heavy). Skathi is fine with being/sleeping naked, but because she knows that others wear clothes in public, she typically wears silver & blue armor* with a belt & boots made of brown leather. Her gauntlets are made of metal & leather as well.

RACE TRAITS

Though there have been Giant-Kin (hybrids that are part giant), Skathi is a unique case.

PERSONALITY

Neutral Good; Ranger (Monster Slayer); she’s one of those “hard outside, soft inside” people. Skathi’s been bullied by various creatures who chose to point out her visual “peculiarities”, so she has gotten tough over the years, learning to appreciate herself for who she is. She doesn’t trust others easily (assuming that there is always a trick hidden behind acts of kindness), but she does tend to have a soft spot for small children and animals. In fact, she lives with wolf packs for a time in the wild and she often takes injured animals to her cabin for veterinary care. During her downtime, Skathi sews clothes and fabrics for her temporary wards and reads about various cultures. She also is an intermediate-level leatherworker.

BACKSTORY

Giants and uthgardt hate each other. And yet, Skathi was born to a male frost giant and a female uthgardt, who had consensually slept together while taking refuge from a snowstorm in the same cave. She only knows this because her mother Seinda relayed this to the firbolgs she gave Skathi over to as a baby. The Turins, who raised Skathi, did so with love and patience, teaching her their ways as if she were one of them. After all, they too were giant-kin (of a different kind). Eventually, Skathi left her tribe to adventure on her own as a ranger. This was how she came to be bitten and subsequently turned by a weredragon she'd been hunting. Since she successfully killed the creature, she didn't realize what she was until a fit of desperation felt during another hunt caused her to turn. Skathi turns into a blue dragon, which can spew out lightning.

I have made an incredible discovery whilst doing quads

There is this little section of my mom's yard where there's a bunch of pine trees clumped together and the layer of pines that fall is really thick and it's almost completely flat there and perfectly comfortable to sit in and do whatever. Or even lay there. Or sit like a dragon there. And you can even stare through the trees and bushes at people in the neighborhood like a cryptid. Or draw or read or just sit and contemplate life because it's really comfortable. I officially have a new favorite part or of the yard and my journey to become the local cryptid is going great (/j)

Okay this might not make sense but view Abel as the name of my human half and Nebula as being the name of my eldritch dragon god half. Abel and Nebula aren't separate, they're two sides of the same coin. They're different but part of one thing. You can't remove them from each other because without each other they aren't whole beings. They don't function separated. Together they form a person because they are not two different people but two sides of one person. That person is me. Did any of that make any sense at all
