Here comes the boooy~

Ok, here are the basics of my Werebeetle au! (The name will make more sense below, so hear me out).

It all starts some time after the events of the movie, the Reyes house had been rebuilt and now everyone, but especially Jaime can carry Berto's mourning in peace, right?.

Unfortunately this is not the case when Booster Gold and the Justice League arrive at the door asking Jaime (or rather forcibly recruiting him) to help them destroy Brother Eye.

We don't know exactly if it was the desperation or the admiration of seeing his "idols" that made Jaime agree to help them. In the hope that maybe in return they could help him learn more about his powers, find out exactly where Khaji came from (Khaji Da when he was attacked by the green lantern the files or memories of his past were corrupted or deleted. therefore like him and like everyone else they have no idea what the Reach is). Hell, they may even be able to help Jenny find out what happened to her dad!

That mission could not fail in any way, could it?

Imagine Jaime's terror when he tries to escape from the explosion and see his heroes, escape and leave him to his fate to die alone thousands of light years away from Earth, his home and especially his family and girlfriend.

Brain tossing around design ideas for came back wrong au Blood Beetle!Ted

The workaround to the host needs to be in contact with the Scarab to use full power is Khaji Da teleports a piece of itself/repair unit to Ted's corpse while its trapped in the Rock of Eternity (I might not ever read the nu52 Blue Beetle run but that little silverfish looking thing Khaji Da put in Paco that lead to him turning into Blood Beetle was cute looking, sue me)

Armored up Blood Beetle!Ted looking a whole lot beastlier than the other armored up hosts we see. FUcker looks more like a creature (hence werebeetle) than person in armor. Like fangs and claws and using the little bug legs that wrap around his torso more.

Thinking more of the scaley chainmail pattern for the armor on most of the body like Dan's Blue Beetle costume (I geniouenly think Ted would never intentionally dress up like Dan given the man's issues around his mentor's death(s) but that one bit of Ted's representation of himself in his comatose mind wearing Dan's costume is very symbolism about how Ted feels about being Blue Beetle 2) and more heavily plate armor on the lower limbs that give a buggy feel that taper into the claws.

Instead of the sticky-up bits of the 'beetle backpack' we see on Jaime, the equivalent parts on Blood Beetle!Ted go over his shoulders, hugging his body and facing downward resembling his Blue Beetle costume's wrap-around over-the-head logo.

It is important to me that Blood Beetle!Ted's armored-up form still looks like it's wearing high-waisted booty shorts

Colors: Metallic blue for the main color, darker on the head/neck/'beetle backpack' and bug leg bits around the ribs and over the shoulders. Metalic dark blood red on the areas that would be the gloves, boots, booty shorts, and a large red spot mimicking a solar disk on the forehead/crown of the head. On the parts of the armor that would have been black on Ted's Blue Beetle costume are white instead so white bands at the places where the red meets blue on the Blood Beetle armor, a white stripe across the upper arms and torso mimicking the outline of Ted's Blue Beetle wrap around logo, white where the marking around his googles where. And orange for the eyes and the glowy spot markings. The glowy spot markings being 2 on the outer sides of his upper forearms, one on the band of white on his belly, and 2 on each side of his hips.

It is important to me that that Blood Beetle!Ted using the glowy spots on his hips the same way he uses his BB Gun to flash opponents

While unarmored, came back wrong Ted has fangs and claws from his armor pop out frequently along with glowy eyes when angry.

Leaning into some energy-draining stuff from Blue Beetle 2006 run and from Blood Scrab in Scarab War, to get energy vampire Ted. Pulling the very lifeforce out of his victims to heal and stabilize himself/grow the repair unit in him into a proper fully independent Scarab leaving the victims as mummified husks if fully drained.

Werebeetle Anatomy Study: "Face Armor." The first change in the armor of Khaji Da. It would be the part of the face, the most obvious being the two blades protruding from the chin. Not only are these to look more striking, but they protect the host from receiving blows to the jaw, as they are very sharp and can cause cuts.

But what is not known is that these blades are covered with a paralyzing poison that, when piercing the skin, comes into contact with the enemy's blood. It does not take more than 15 minutes for the poison to take effect, it does not cause pain even though the victim's body, except for the mouth and respiratory tract, is paralyzed for a couple of hours.

Werebeetle Anatomy study: "Eyes".

Each number corresponds to the remarkable changes in the genetic mix of the code of a beetle and a human host, and the abilities they correspond to. 1. Human eye. A quick claw study for a Blue Beetle Au I'm writing.

I was inspired by the awesome designs of @wazzappp and their headcanons of jaime reyes. They really sparked my imagination about my favorite character and the endless possibilities with Khaji- da and the symbiotic armor.

Werebeetle Anatomy Study: Mouth (Warning: Blood.) The second and most painful symptom of the DNA and beetle code linkage is teeth. As shown in the diagram, the shape of fangs and molars become sharper, assimilating the shape of canine teeth.

WEREBEETLE IS BACK BABY!

One of the things I loved about the Blue Beetle movie was the transformation scene. Especially the black tar on Jaime's face and I couldn't help but want to use it for the werebeetle.

The tar will serve as a mask used to protect Jaime's identity so that both the enemies he faces and future allies will think he is not human (he will not risk compromising his remaining loved ones..not again). The red eye would also serve that purpose, as well as generate some fear for whoever breaks the armor of his face. (The idea was inspired by the design of Blue Beetle in Batman the brave and bold).

Werebeetle anatomy study: "Body armor"

To mask its original shape. The werebeetle when wearing the armor of his beetle acquires an extra pair of arms and claws for an advantage in battle. Especially if the opponent exceeds him in size.
