The colour schemes in AFCW and it's meanings
I just realized that and had to share it with you. I don't know wether John Cleese planned this or not but:
⚪️🔵🟡 = harmony
🩷 = disturbing/breaking harmony
⚫️ = mayhem
Garden scene
No 🔵⚪️🟡 = no harmony
⚫️ = mayhem
The harmony colour scheme is entirely absent which means no harmony. Archie's black suit brings mayhem into it.
Result:
🔵⚪️🟡 = harmony
🩷 = trouble
⚫️ = mayhem
Wanda's room is actually a harmonic place - but her pink blouse and the pink lamp trouble the harmony. Also Otto brings mayhem.
Result:
Bedroom scene
🔵⚪️🟡 incomplete = no harmony
🩷 = trouble
The harmony colour scheme is in complete as Archie's pyjamas are only blue-white. Wendy's nightgown is only white. The pink curtains cause trouble. No harmony but trouble in this scene.
Burglar scene
🔵⚪️🟡 incomplete = no harmony
⚫️ = mayhem
Wendy wears white-blue but that's not the complete harmony colour scheme so no harmony. Archie's entirely black clothing brings mayhem.
Result:
🔵⚪️🟡 = harmony
⚫️ = mayhem
The harmony colour scheme is complete! Not only on Wendy's cllthes but also in the room (yellow walls with white-blue vases) But Archie wears grey (a lighter shade of black) which causes mayhem.
Result:
⚫️ = mayhem
The scene where they all wear black except Portia who wears pink?
Well...
Pure mayhem.

Tell me more about your Wendy Leach backstory please?
(I'm fr invested in it now!!)
Hii ☺️
OMG your ask makes me so happy 🥰 Thank you so much for asking!
Plot details under the cut:
When a young Wendy gets in trouble with the law, young barrister Archie Leach helps her out. They hang out in the pub and Archie starts visiting Wendy's races since she's a renown equestrian taking part in national races. They fall in love. Their parents, however, are not quite happy with this relationship.
But Wendy and Archie marry and soon thereafter welcome their daughter Portia.
This changes their lives completely: they stop going to the pub and Wendy rests her equine activities.
They start to fit in the conventions of the society they once fought against. They become sensible parents. Archie founds his own law firm as soon as he has the chance to do so and Wendy becomes sort of a housewife. She looks after Portia, makes social connections such as meeting for lunch with Marjorie Brooks, playing three rubbers with Philippa Hunter, etc. the social life of the rich, you know. But to fit in the conventions has a very high price: their love fades.
Then Wendy gets the necklace and she is so happy because it shows her Archie still loves her. Shortly after that he asks her to give the necklace back but Wendy says no.
Soon thereafter, a burglar breaks in to their house and steals her necklace. She is traumatized and needs Archie's company but he rushes off to conference.
She comes to terms Archie might have an affair and is devastated. Then she's proven right in court when he humilliates her by publicly calling Wanda "darling", admitting the affair. Wendy slaps him and divorces him.
Archie feels free, finally being able to officially date Wanda but Wendy feels heartbroken and grieves the end of her marriage.
Their lives changes again: Archie setting off to Rio with Wanda and 20 mio. $, Wendy losing her necklace and Archie. She's a single mother of a teenage girl now.
But eventually, she realizes the divorce might has set her free, as well...

I'm so obsessed with Wendy Leach at the moment arhghgh... She's such a good character going through so much and I feel sorry for her and I am currently writing a backstory for her! I am writing almost daily and I love to think about her like how would she feel about this and that and the more I dive into her perspective of the events from A Fish Called Wanda the more I love her the more obsessed I am and I love to go through this journey with her...
I'm studying her and Archie in a petry dish and it's my newest obsession because BOY did John Cleese put hints and ideas in this movie man I discover something new everytime... I have lore to mine here lol

Very much so!
But
You see how happy Wendy is with the necklace? It's the only time she ever smiles in the whole movie and it would be heartless to rob her of this.
Also, when you think of what shit she's going through...
Watching A fish called Wanda again, Archie could have avoided a lot of crap if he had just told Wendy that the necklace that Portia picked up belongs to the strange American man that had used their telephone

Disraeli: The Great Game (1.3, ATV, 1978)
"Mary Anne, do not distress yourself; you know that whatever happens, you need never worry."
"I am not thinking about myself, don't you understand? I shall not always be here, my money dies with me. What will you do when I'm gone?"
"I cannot imagine such an empty world."

You: "Just here to bathe in Monty Python content"
Me: "Ooohhh... a Python fan again... hehe" *rubs hands together* *throws my Wendy Leach fanfiction idea at you*
Also me: *is not really into the Pythons*
Not me bamboozling up Python fans and behaving like one of them just because I am hyped with Wendy Leach at the moment lol😅
I love your approach! :D And A Fish Called Wanda definitely could use every fan and every crumb of content it can get. But this time you've sadly come to the wrong person haha... I've never gotten around to watch that movie although it's been on my to-watch-list for years now :(

I watched A Fish Called Wanda and Fierce Creatures for my Jamie Lee Curtis hyperfixation caused by her role as Madame Leota in Haunted Mansion
But I ended up being obsessed with Wendy Leach/Maria Aitken!
I'm writing Wendy's backstory at the moment (it's supposed to be Wendy's and Archie's backstory but it's gotten way too Wendy-centric for that)
Oh that's exciting! :) I remember when I was writing a backstory for Marge Sherwood from The Talented Mr Ripley (my favorite movie) on Wattpad, never finished it though

Would you draw Wendy Leach for me? I love her so much and I'm so curious about how she would look like in your art style!
Some pictures for reference included.
Maybe you like to draw Wendy with Wanda? Because I'm dying to see what would happen if they met. Would Wendy slap her? Bitchfight her? Or would they go to the pup drink together as drinking buddies?
But you can also draw just Wendy. Whatever you feel more comfortable with.
Thanks in advance, bro!
sorry...just a sketch for now....im really burnt out and i want to conserve my energy for the 3 other reqs im gonna have to do tomorrow...maybe ill do some more of her afterwards but rn i just cant
