Hello I’ve been very silent here but this is a reminder that I love every part of vigilantes.
I love Koichi. I love pop. I love Knuckleduster. I love the narrative. I love how the characters grow. I love how things unapologetically change. I love how we can’t go back to what happened before. I love how growth is the small things. I love how community care is shown. I love how we disregard the rules and care about people. I love how the narrative really doesn’t end because they’re still living. I love how Koichi’s dream isn’t an endpoint and it’s something that has to be lived. I love how I know that these characters are going to change and grow even after the story is finished. I miss it,

I just finished a Vig reread (again (again)) and something I noticed is that All Night's catchphrase is "I Am Here" while Koichi and Knuckleduster say "I'm Here". A more informal, personal variation.
Man, I got a lot to say about “I am here” (MHA) vs “I'm here” (MHAV) so thanks for this excuse!
In MHA, “I am here” is both a reassurance to people in need and a warning to villains. It reads: "Have no fear! I am here to help you!" While at the same time meaning: "I am here to stop you villains and save the day!" It is the catchphrase of All Might: The Number One Hero and it has that kind of hero marketability that we expect out of Pro-heroes.
The first time we hear “I’m here” in MHAV we need to remember the words preceding it. The full phrase is, “Well, All Might ain’t coming, but… I’m here!” And we need to remember that this phrasing is implicit every time we hear “I’m here” throughout Vigilantes.
When Knuckleduster is beating up on common criminals it’s: “Well, All Might doesn’t have time for you, but I’m here.” When Knuckleduster is holding the hand of his daughter in the hospital it’s: “Well, All Might may not have been able to save you, but I’m here.”
So, in truth “I’m here” in Vigilantes means: “I may not have the same power as All Might. I may not be as strong or as fast. I may not be the perfect hero he is, but I’m here and I’m going to try.”
“I’m here” in Vigilantes continually puts All Might up onto a pedestal. As do many other things in Vigilantes, for example, Koichi maintaining that only official All Might hoodies contain the divine Hero Blessing™️. All Might is used as the epitome of what a hero should be.
That’s why All Might initially wants Izuku to use the phrase "I am here" too. To tell the world that: “He is here!” and pronounce that Deku will be the next Symbol of Peace just as Toshinori was as All Might.
And all of this is especially interesting considering what both All Might’s and Knuckleduster’s apprentices do with their inherited phrases.
For my money, “I am here” in MHA is 1) corrupted by All for One and 2) not adopted by Deku.
During the Kamino battle All for One uses the phrase "I am here" to mock All Might. Spitting the catchphrase right back at him while he beats the tar out of All Might and the city. This eventually culminates into the "I am NOT here" sign worn by the All Might statue. The phrase is turned on it's head and used to demonstrate All Might's failure. Because he is "not here" the world has fallen into Chaos.
but he seems to be attempting to reclaim this phrase in recent chapters so we'll see where this all leads soon
(Just want to note that I'm speaking about this from an English-language perspective, cause I know that translations of this are not exact.)
Deku for his part, does not take up the phrase in the way All Might wanted him to. Demonstrating, I think, his desire to be his own hero and find his own words.
Koichi, however does something different. Instead of taking the phrase "I'm here" from his master Koichi iterates on it until it becomes: "For some reason, I'm still here. I'm still here with you." Koichi's "I'm here" version demonstrates a level of care for the person he is fighting, something that no other version of the phrase has.
In full it says, "I am not All Might, and I really shouldn't be here. But because I chose too, and because I have the will, I choose to be here for you."
And I love that all of that can come out of those little phrases. Thanks for the ask!

Kuroboro: “You ever feel like we’re being punished somehow?”
Mic and Eraser groan in agreement.
Nezu: “Oh, of course you are!”
Everyone turns and gives him a look of “what?” and add the ‘....’ sound effect.
Nezu: “All of this is for punishment for the delinquent hero students that violated the rules by sneaking onto the roof of the school everyday for 1 and a half years! Now you have to deal with the delinquents! AHAHAHAHAHH~!”
They all give a shocked look! ‘He still remembers that?’
Kuroboro: But sir I died! Doesn’t that exempt me?”
Nezu: “There is no escape! AHHHAHHHAHAH!!”

my thought was always: do you subscribe to the Edna mode "no capes" or the Mirio Togata "a cape is what you use to comfort a child who is suffering"
Will humanity ever be free of the influence of Edna Mode? Can any of us so much as consider the character design for a hero or villain without her manifesting in the room, fully aware of our sins?

Oboro height compared to HS Aizawa, Hizashi, Nemuri height visual pls?
So I’d love to answer this properly but in Vigilantes we never get canon heights for Aizawa, Hizashi, and Nemuri for when they are in high school.
But… that doesn’t mean I can’t give you my next best guess, so here is my approximation of their heights based upon how they compare to each other:
We’re gonna start on the leftmost side and move right. So, the one other canon height we do get in vigilantes is for His Purple Highness. Who turns out is 2 cm SHORTER than Oboro!
Next, we have Aizawa and Hizashi (HS). These are my best approximations of their height. Aizawa was easy because in panels where he’s next to Oboto he’s always up to the middle of Oboro’s face or to lower part of his chin. So, I estimate he’s around 167cm or ~5’6”.
Now, Hizashi. He is infuriating because in Vigilantes he ranges from being just shorter than Oboro, to being the same height as Aizawa, to being SHORTER than Aizawa. In this case I just went with my gut and put him smack dab in the middle of Oboro and Aizawa, but just know that this could vary. Upper bound being ~185 cm to a lower bound of ~165 cm.
Then Oboro, who we all know is a TALL boy.
Next is Nemuri, who I originally was comparing to His Purple Highness. She sits at about the middle of his face so she’s likely ~10 cm shorter than him at 175 cm. But then I found out her canon height as an adult is also 175 cm! So, we can come to the conclusion that she doesn’t grow anymore after high school and says at ~5’9”.
Then finally we have the rightmost characters: Mic and Aizawa. They both have their canon adult heights.
I hope this helps!

Hey everyone! Idk if anyone cares about this anymore but we did get an answer as to whose blocks they are!
HEAVY MAJOR SPOILERS FOR MHA VIGILANTES
They’re Number 6’s!
If you don’t know who he his idk how to tell you this but you’re missing out on one of the biggest revelations about MHA we’ve had for a while. It being that, Tenko Shimaura was not the first child AFO and the Doctor stole and modified and gave quirks to while looking for the perfect successor.
Tomura has an older brother. If your interested in finding out about him:
GO READ VIGILANTES
AFO was a babysitter???
I saw this panel on dad for one tag and honestly, I thought it was a fanart for an AU at first. But it turns out to be CANON. This was in chapter 92 of Vigiliantes manga!
If I remember correctly, Vigiliantes is a spinoff manga that tells the events occured in the past. I didn't read all of it yet so I can't go into too much detail, but AFO was shown picking up blocks from the ground.
Not just any blocks though. BABY BLOCKS.
Just look at the shapes, they are almost identical.
AFO, the biggest villain of BNHA, had baby toys in his lair for some reason.
Here is the full manga page:
...Ah yes, doing a monologue while holding a baby block is hilarious 🤣
Speaking of babies... these toys could belong to this little baby right here :3 And no, they can't be for Tomura because these toys are usually for babies between 0-3 years old. Tomura was around 5 or 6 when AFO got him.
Conclusion: AFO was a babysitter. He was probably taking care of little Izuku at that time 🥰🥰🥰
#there’s also so so much more going on here#but the most important stuff is the blocks#and i saw the whole mess about Vig’s timeline in the notes i’ll make a post about that later#welovecloud#if you want the link to read vig it’s in my pinned post#bnha vigilantes spoilers#mha vigilantes spoilers

How Koichi showing up could affect MHA
So, a while back I made a quick twitter post about why I want Koichi to show up in main MHA, about how I want Koichi and Deku to interact and actually talk about the possibility of saving Tomura. So, here I wanted to expand a little on why I think that would be a really good thing for the series.
As of writing this I am taking into consideration canon up until chapter 378 of MHA (the most recent chapter as of writing).
So, in this scenario let's say Koichi shows up as one of the international heroes here to stop the villains, probably in spectacular fashion to stop AFO or the twice clones, (Also sidebar, it’s crazy that Koichi is in the running for being the strongest character we have rn, with the other heroes being incapacitated), and in this scenario, he gets the chance to talk to Deku and the other heroes. This would require a break from the pace we’ve currently been experiencing, but with all the additional characters and heroes (that would show up) it might cause AFO and the others to back down. This downtime would allow for our characters to re-group.
Specifically, I want Koichi to legitimize Deku’s ideas about trying to save Tomura and to ask Deku how he plans on saving him, because, as only Koichi knows, just wanting to save someone isn't enough. I want this because as of now Deku has never had his ideas about saving Tomura be legitimized by any adult hero, with Uraraka being the only other student to reflect his ideas. By having Koichi be the one to listen and reflect Izuku’s ideas back at him it would help him understand that it isn’t just “crazy” to think that he could help Tomura. It would also help to create an easy, instant connection between the characters, besides both being huge All Might fans, of course.
Then, Koichi could tell his own cautionary tale. About how he was a vigilante who only wanted to help people, that ended up saving nearly everyone in his town (Read: everyone who’s ever tried to kill him: all the guys at the cafe except the Hotta Bros, Soga, Rapt, Moyuru, Pop, both x-men, the train guys, the horse guy, ect.), to then being targeted by Number 6, another person groomed by All for One, (this would confirm to the rest of the characters that yes, there have been more of them) to ultimately being unable to save Number 6 from himself.
In this conversation, Koichi would bring a hand up to his scar and recite, “Everytime you glance in a mirror , you’ll remember, the weight of responsibility, the meaning of existence, and the guy you couldn’t save no matter how long you tired.” And then turn to Izuku and ask how he plans on saving Tomura. Koichi’s failure ultimately came from not understanding what 6 wanted and being too weak from their fight to stop 6 from blowing himself up. He needs to warn Deku that just being stronger than Tomura isn’t enough, he also needs to understand him if he wants to save him.
Having Koichi in main MHA would also give a narrative purpose to Number 6’s death. In Vigilantes as it stands, we know that Koichi learns his lesson from 6, but we don't get to see him actually apply it because the series ends. By having him in the main series, we can see him put to use what he learned in that final battle. In this way Koichi’s failure becomes Deku’s success (hopefully).
This is also all incredibly ironic considering Koichi was made to be “Izuku Midoryia if he didn’t meet All Might.” [Chapter 1 Vigilantes notes], because now we have the character modeled off of Izuku coming back to teach him a much needed lesson.
And all of this is why I and others are BEGGING that Koichi and the gang show up in MHA, not only cause it would be a “Hey, cool cameo!”, or “Yay! Another heavy hitter hero!”, but because it could legitimately change the outcome for the MHA characters.
There’s more I could write about this ie: how Knucklduster showing up would affect All Might’s current state, or how other vigilantes characters could affect the plot (looking at you Makoto please threaten the president of America), but I’ll leave that to another time.
Also, you could just have Inko recognize Koichi as “that nice boy in the All Might hoodie who gave me directions that one time” and Deku would be 100% ready to ride or die for him.
