It is good to be mindful of your multidimensional relationship with food and how the choices you make are influenced by many conscious and unconscious desires. Food Is Energy. At a basic level, food is a source for fuel necessary for your body to function. Food Is Information. Byproducts of food convey messages that assist with multiple processes within your body. (e.g., metabolism, detoxification, cell signaling, etc.) Food Is Connection. Food is often a central focus of social gatherings/events and brings people together. Memories pleasant and unpleasant often include the taste, smell and texture of foods. While reasons behind food cravings, choices and dislikes are not always logical, the reasons can often refer to your connections with food. FOOD IS MEDICINE. You are what you eat! When you choose nutrient-rich foods, they send signals in your body for positive gene expression, which is a key element of optimal health.
