Katniss is such an unreliable narrator. She says "Then something unexpected happens. At least, I don't expect it because I don't think of District 12 as a place that cares about me" girl you deliver strawberries to the Mayor, you hunt and trade for the district, when you fell at Prim being chosen someone caught you, when you went to Prim people parted for you, when you volunteered EVERYONE stopped. Idk how to tell you but I think you're a pillar of the community.

If my mom sees a significant amount of blood she gets lightheaded, and has fainted on some occasions. Once it happened when we were kids, I wasn't there to witness it but I heard the story from my dad. Basically my brothers, around 7 or 8 at the time, were playing outside while my mom was making their lunch, and she accidentally cut her finger. It wasn't anything serious, but it drew a fair bit of blood and she passed out. My dad saw this and rushed over, but he didn't really know what to do so he just sort of started slapping her to wake her up (not recommended, but he had no idea and panicked)

At that exact moment my brothers both came in from playing, and all they saw was our mom unconscious on the floor and our dad slapping her. So, like, without even saying a word to each other they both just INSTANTLY start whaling on him, like, full blown attack mode to defend our mom. Which obviously didn't help the situation, but she did wake up and everything was fine.

Now our dad says that he's actually really glad they attacked him over what they thought was going on, because it means he raised good boys. And I still think that's true, they're very good boys.

actually started working on this idea and wanted to encourage myself to continue writing this fic so i'm posting a snippet 👀

First, he sees a man, and what a man that is.

Yeah, it’s Eddie, shirtless.

Buck didn’t remember being this affected by the view. Yet, the second thing he notices is feeling a little too warm, is it getting suffocating in here? Is it only him who noticed? Well, that’s definitely what Past Buck noticed, and now Current Buck (yes, he decided to differentiate these versions of himself this way, it’s easier than remembering on what software update he’d been at the time, though this Past Buck might be Buck 2.0), now he’s feeling it too. Which… surely gives him something to think about later.

Not right now, though, because now there’s also the waves of previous insecurities. They always come like tides: when they’re gone – you know they’ll be here some day; when they’re here – you’re drowning wishing they were gone.

In this moment Buck’s only there knee deep: he knows he felt threatened by Eddie but really it was just voices telling him he was being replaced because he’s just not good enough. He’s remembering all of this emotions that were going through him at that time and can’t believe that all of them were brought by Eddie – by the man, who’s in Current Buck timeline, is his best friend, the man who has his back, the man who’s just always here to land Buck a hand and drag him out of the water, away from the destructive self-doubt.

Buck thinks that maybe Eddie saved him first. Eddie saw Buck being hostile and rude, saw the hurt that was underneath, and still, believed that Buck was good, was worth to be near with, worth to be trusted, worth to be a part of a family. At that time, after Abby, just feeling that he is worth of something was his lifeline, and that lifeline came in the shape of Eddie.

I have this idea for a buddie fic but I haven't written anything for years so i'm not sure if I can pull it off and if I should do it at all

the idea goes something like this:

Buck was struck by lightning and is in a coma. he is having a time loop kind of dream where every day is the same date but every day for him is a different circumstances of his past and he’s reliving all of his traumatic events (kind of like exposure therapy lol). until he understands he’s in a coma and trying to wake up.

I don't exactly have anything planned for how it ends so i'm still hesitant about this idea

I guess I'm just curious if anybody would be interested in reading it
