GODDD DUDE ive been so fixated on our campaign and its only been three sessions clenches fist. Ill yap under the cut

So the campaign takes place in 2009 in a small town in Illinois called Hollowbrook. Kyle was born & raised there, very normal upbringing, mom dad & little brother living in ur typical cozy cul-de-sac home, he's a pretty outgoing and rebellious kid though. Likes doing stupid shit like going to parties in the woods and breaking his arm doing skating tricks and going to the junkyard and smashing stuff for fun. Plays guitar badly in his garage. Goes to the local comic shop to talk nerd stuff like pokemon and world of warcraft and whatever.

6 months before the campaign takes place, Kyle is out in the woods with his younger brother Liam one night. Growing up, they've both been pretty interested in supernatural stuff and mythological creatures, so it's not uncommon for them to hang out there looking for bigfoot or whatever for fun. However, something goes wrong, something strange/magic happens, Liam goes missing and Kyle is witness to it all. He tells everybody what he saw, but no one believes him.

This sends Kyle on a pretty bad spiral for the next few months. The trauma of your younger brother going missing right before he's about to graduate high school, knowing you saw Something but nobody believes you, continuing to search for the truth while everyone slowly begins to move on. Kyle quickly becomes a lot more reckless and obsessive. He takes a semester off community college because he can't focus on school at all. He dedicates all of his time to one purpose and it's getting his brother back. He spends his days online at deep web forums discussing cryptids and magic, and at night he heads out to the woods to look for clues or creature sightings. He notices the forest is a little strange at night, but besides that, not many leads.

Only very recently does he meet the other three members of the party and discover the Hideaway, a magical portal that connects their world to a mirror dimension full of magic and mythical creatures. Kyle is convinced that this has to be where Liam went, and with a new lead & a team of chucklefucks he can continue to work towards that goal. :J Kyle's playbook is The Expert. He's the only player character who's lived in Hollowbrook his whole life so he knows pretty much everything there is to know about it. His casual interest in cryptids over the years + his recent obsession with it makes him pretty knowledgeable about that stuff as well. He doesn't have any magic abilities of his own (yet, that i know of?) but he wants to help the other three learn more information about the nature of their abilities, hoping that solving their mysteries may bring him closer to learning more about where Liam could have gone.

I'll share art I've done of Liam soon bc there is a Lot :J Towards the end of last session, Kyle revealed to the party that he's looking for his younger brother who went missing, however they haven't had time to discuss this in detail yet, so they haven't seen any photos of him or anything (Kyle keeps a lot of photos on his camera & printed out though lol. Also all of the characters have 100% seen Liam's face without realizing because Kyle has been putting up missing person posters everywhere)

He was coming to see what you wanted to get for takeout for dinner and when he opened the door the smell of weed blasts him in his non-existent nose and he's surrounded by smoke. Takes one look at you and sighs affectionately as he opens the windows to let the smoke out. "could've gone outside." He teases he knows what a hotbox is and that that's what you were doing. Snuggles up close to you and brings up the prospect of food as he brushes his distills through your hair. He might take a hit or two if you offer, he's not a big stoner but it's not like he's never smoked before. Doesn't really bother him that you smoke does prefer if you do it outside so the place doesn't reek but if you keep it to one room that also works.

Papyrus:

You had been in the bathroom for awhile and Papyrus was getting worried. When he knocked on. the door he heard some clatter behind it and waited patiently as he called out. "MY DEAR ARE YOU OKAY?" The utter shock on his face when he's absolutely violated by that dank ass smell and hit with a puff of smoke when you open the door with the widest grin and red eyes. I feel like Papyrus absolutely owns a D.A.R.E shirt so you can imagine he's a little disappointed but he knows now is not a good time to talk about it. Gets you a nice cup of cold water to drink and turns on a documentary that he'll listen to as you watch. He's gonna be taking care of chores but checking up on you every 15 minutes or so. Will absolutely nag at you when you sober up but he's not gonna force you to stop just…take it outside next time.

Underfell:

Red:

Was finding you for some cuddles and found you blitzed out of your mind puffing on a joint as the room is filled with smoke. He chuckles and gives you a affectionate grin as he looks over your intoxicated state. "looks like yer havin some fun doll". Gets you something to drink and something to munch on before cuddling up next to you and turning on a movie as he gently prys the joint from your grip. He will absolutely smoke with you and will probably ask to join if he finds you already smoking. He's more of a drinker than a stoner but he'll start smoking a bit more if you do.

Edge:

The utter disgust thats expressed on his face when he smells weed. He's immediately nagging you. "WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?" He glares at you through narrowed sockets and then remembers all the times he tried to talk to Stretch or Red when they were smoking together and sighs. He knows nows not the time and shelves his disappointment and anger and leads you to the couch. Gets you some water and watches over you as he gently rubs your head occasionally glancing at whatever you turned on. He's very passive aggressive at first when you sober up and then comes the nag fest. Does not like the smell and doesn't want it in the house so your designated smoke spot is now outside. He knows he can't make you stop and honestly it's legalized and he doesn't really care since you're not breaking any laws, he was really just upset you had it inside his nice clean house. Had like 17 scented candles lit the night you hotboxed that room and was glaring at you while he lit them.

Has a here we go again moment when he's hit full force with the smell of weed and your dopey grin. Memories of his first time catching a young stretch smoking flits through his mind. He doesn't chastise you and instead grins and gives you a quick peck. "HELLO LOVELY ARE YOU ENJOYING YOURSELF?" He's gonna make sure you have a good high he knows people have their own reasons for smoking and assumes you have yours like his brother has is and doesn't really question it. I'm in between on if he'd smoke or not I feel like he'd try it after being curious for a bit but I don't think he'd be a stoner. Would plan that shit out and makes what he gets from dispensaries last MONTHS because he simply doesn't smoke like that.

Stretch:

Now stretch DOES smoke like that. Not even fazed when he opens the door to your hotbox. "awh honey you didn't invite me?" Grabs his own stuff so he can contribute to the sesh and you guys smoke together. Lazy high cuddles and silly questions that turn into philosophical conversations. Absolutely loves smoking with you having a SO who's a stoner isn't a must but it's a huge bonus. Actually starts to plan dates like edibles and the aquarium or walks through the woods with joints, a picnic where he gifts you flower instead of of flowers and such.

Confused when he opens the door to the smell of weed and smoke. Poor baby at first thinks there's a fire and is looking around for it until he sees what you have in your hands. He relaxes slightly upon seeing the bong and heads over your way. "…had me scared lamb" he mutters as he curls up around you and starts to purr. Always carries snacks on him so your munchies are good. Will get you anything you ask for water, food, blankets ect. Now I feel like since he already has memory problems we shouldn't be giving axe weed… but he absolutely got into your edibles one time and destroyed the entire batch. When you told him what they were he just starts laughing. Would not leave your side once the high kicked in and start carrying you everywhere like a doll. Ended up going for a walk in the woods for like 4 hours because he kept getting distracted by literally everything. Don't even get me started on his munchies. So no Axe isn't a stoner but I feel like an edible every now and then he would absolutely do.

Willow:

Not as disappointed as Papyrus surprisingly. A little disappointed still when he comes face to face with your hot box and opens the windows to clear the room as he shakes his head. Makes you something to eat real quick and gets you something to drink. Has you in his lap as you guys watch a documentary. He's pretty much down for any wacky adventure you might want to go on in this state and he will absolutely be joining you worried about your safety. Willow could be convinced to try edibles especially since it would help with his chronic pain and it doesn't really bother him that you smoke as long as you're doing it in moderation. (he will step in if he thinks you're getting dependant on the substance(all of them would))

ive said this before about otoya but unlike oliver who i do genuinely believe is fixable i dont think otoya is . not in the same way at least

however . however however HOWEVER.

i do think he is like . not immune to falling in love in the same way that oliver is. olivers aversion to love is pretty delibrate but otoya is not really doing it out of like... something deeper he just likes to pursue whatever is light and fun for him which is why he dates a million girls at a time and he's also kind of dumbass ❤️

my opinion of both him and karasu changed a bit when they released the panels of him in episode nagi spin off and it was basically saying he's no thoughts head empty and kind of a whore. but it's like for the love of the game and i dont think he pisses you off nearly as much as oliver does.

im not defending him like he's an idiot but i do think he's harmless and i dont think it's a herculean labor to get him to catch feelings for you but it's not something you can force by pursuing him? i think if you want to date otoya you really Really have to be his friend.

like. you can't date him off the bat because he automatically sees dating = playing around. you have to be his friend for a few years first i think to get him to view you as a person and not a dating partner. and at some point during that i think he uses the empty space in his head to form a thought and kind of lands upon - it's more fun being with you than it is dating other girls

so in my head it plays out like. you become good close friends and stay like that for a while. you get along well. otoya enjoys hanging out and having fun with you more than he likes dating around at some point. he decides to ask you out kind of frivolously though its just for kicks and you know that already.

and you have to tell him no i think. LMAO. otoya is not a serious person. flat out rejection and telling him explicitly why you're rejecting him is the only way to get him to self reflect at all. saying you won't date him because you want a serious relationship and boyfriend is the only way to get him to consider it.

and like. tbh even then it's not really going to hit him right away. he's kind of annoyed by it and a little sad. but his whole thing is not to worry about something so he shrugs it off at first because you dont have any reason to stop being friends and spend a lot of time together still.

i think the only time he will reflect on this is when you after he realizes he likes you in some way and after you start dating someone else.

someone seriously pursuing you is kind of a pain. they take away the time you spend with him and it's also weirdly annoying to him to see you fawn over someone. he tries to write it off several times after that too tho lol

eventually he asks you again to date him. and it's when you're dating another dude and have been for a while. basically saying you can cheat on your bf with him. this is a really roudabout way to get you to hang w him again.

and when you're like ? im not doing that lol. he gets genuinely like confused. asks if this guy is really that great.

when you respond that he is otoya is like . well whatever. and he leaves to go play around again. doesn't think about it. but he does notice how everything feels kind of dull

its not exciting anymore. but he just ignores it for a while.

i think it only really dawns on him when he sees like. a video of you and your current boyfriend. you're at an arcade. it's not a romantic post but it's like a Silly Fun post where you're getting along and doing something fun.

thats like. the first time he gets seriously annoyed with it. and he goes to consult with karasu (who thinks this entire thing is so fucking funny btw. and makes him respect you way more than before) and karasu is like dude lol

and otoya doesn't get it. karasu sort of lays it out like you're just jealous dude. and otoya is like huh.

karasu is frank and tells otoya to give up on you LMFAOOOO. because you have enough self respect to turn him down and you know what otoya is like. and otoya is like but im bored without them. and karasu laughs himself into a fit and is like tough shit that's karma for you lol

he doesn't know what to do after that. it's really suffocating and bothersome for him. and like. you're one of his best friends and he likes you and feels good being around you so he's really dejected about this.

i think he goes to hang out and says all of this to you. and you're not surprised bc you do know him well he's your best friend. and you're like we can still hang out but i have a bf dude i want to be with him.

and he just like. outright asks what would make you reconsider. and you're like LMAO?

so you give him the rundown on your standards. no cheating is bare minimum. and you give him your actual list of standards and he's like how can i do that if we're not dating.

u dont take him seriously so you tell him that if he can stop talking to multiple girls at once you'll seriously consider him. and he doesn't think to agree but he gets that irritated feeling thinking about you not having fun w him again and agrees.

anyways. i do think you get through to him eventually. but like with oliver you have to set your boundaries firm and make it clear that you're not gonna bend to him just cause you're friends. and your relationship is probably rocky until he's at real risk of losing you forever at least once.

i think at some point though down the line he's like. being with you is more fun. and he likes to make you happy and shit. and he is also a little easily jealous which is deeply hypocritical.

Talking about Saiki and SA here a bit, btw, just a warning~

Thinking about how you said Saiki was a victim of SA and you’re literally so right. I feel like people sometimes just blow right past the fact that Kusuke is like that with his brother, but I think it can add a lot to interpretations of his character. But even if it only goes as far as what is shown in canon — which I almost doubt — it still remains the fact that Kusuke is doing all of that knowing fully well that his brother can hear him. It’s literally sexual harassment.

People point it out more often with Teruhashi and her brother (back to the reasons you said, people think it’s more serious if it happens to women). But the things he does, that’s all sexual harassment. And yet when Kusuke does similar things, it’s often brushed aside. Just,,, a bit crazy to me.

(And that’s not even mentioning when people completely disregard this part of Teruhashi’s story and act like she’s one-dimensional,,, but that’s another story)

(heed the sa warning + abuse and incest warning before opening, i talk a LOT here.. im mostly just reiterating what happens directly in the manga though.. ALSO EXTREMELY LONG POST WARNING..)

I always viewed kokomi and makoto + kusuo and kusuke as like.. paralleling each other ? not sure if thats the right word, but IMMEDIATELY when i saw both of these dynamics i made the connection.. i guess since it was so clear to me, i assumed that it was so obvious and on purpose that everyone else knew too, but so many people just.. ignore it..

i think most people that read/watch saiki k have recognized the fact that most main characters are meant to parallel or relate to saiki in at least some way, (if anyone who doesnt know what im talking about is reading this, im sure at least someone on here has done a better breakdown on that, i just.. dont know where to find that..) but this particular connection is one i dont see often and i genuinely believe that its almost entirely because of the whole "sexual assault/harassment isnt as serious when it happens to men as when it happens to women" thing.. most of the fandom acknowledge that what makoto does is awful and kokomi is a victim, so why is it different when its kusuke and kusuo ??

its EXACTLY the same.. what we see on screen with the saikis is WORSE, actually.. and what WE see from these two relationships isnt the full extent of what the two victims experience off screen, and i strongly believe that its heavily implied that both kokomi and kusuo have been through much worse with their brothers than whats shown..

we have no idea what kusuke couldve done BEFORE moving away and creating the telepathy canceler (and dont say that he couldnt have done anything cuz they were kids, cocsa [child on child sa] is still a thing and still valid, ESPECIALLY since they were both kid geniuses and kusuke definitely KNEW better.. but yea, kusuo implies that hes been like that for a long time, way before we ever saw them, sooo..) and its highly likely that whatever happened that we didnt see, before or after the move, was WORSE than what he does ON screen (i honestly dont want to think about what a guy with an incestual obsession with his brother does with cameras everywhere in his brothers home..) and what we see him do is already insane..

literally using his brother to get off, manipulating him and forcing him to play the games that give him sexual pleasure.. actually, speaking of, ive seen some people say that what kusuke does isnt really incest because the only reason he uses kusuo is because hes a masochist and kusuo is the only person that can overpower him.. this is a total misfire LOL, his upbringing alongside kusuo and his relationship with him is the REASON that hes a masochist, the ENTIRE REASON why thats what he gets off to.. its not just CONVENIENT that kusuo is there to get him off, he SPECIFICALLY seeks kusuo out and forces him to do things that give him sexual pleasure.. he believes that kusuo is the only person in the world that can ever give him sexual pleasure, what about that doesnt sound incestuous?

and one of the worst parts of it is, kusuo BARELY acknowledges how weird it is.. in fact, he's COMPLACENT in a lot of the games, obedient even, being bribed into them the same way he does with simple things like bringing kuniharu to work.. this is the biggest reason why i believe the off-screen stuff is probably worse, because kusuo is obviously conditioned to think that letting your brother get off to you is just.. fine.. we hardly see him try to get away from this situation beyond simply calling him gross.. theres one moment during the cat tank situation where kusuke tries to get him to grab the limiter off of his crotch specifically so that he can see him in that position and kusuo looks terrified and cant do it, BUT its unclear whether the expression of fear was entirely his concentration because he didnt wanna break the limiter or because he didnt want to let his brother get off to that, and i think its mostly the former ? idk, i dont remember this part that well but im preeeetty sure..

he does acknowledge that MAKOTOS behavior is bad when he sees it, but he never thinks its a big enough deal that he needs to help her or anything, (except for maybe the okinawa situation) which i know is probably just for the sake of not letting the gag manga get too serious, BUT it can also be explained pretty easily by this whole thing.. the way kokomi is treated is literally the same way kusuo lives his life, even down to their incestuous brother being possessive to the point of berating their potential love interests.. (which in this case happened to be each other, kusuo and kokomi..)

so yeah, kusuo just. doesnt really know how bad it actually is ? or maybe he does, but doesnt acknowledge it because he doesnt WANT to.. him barely acknowledging it and being complacent is part of why some people dont really get that its sa and incest, but his complacency obviously plays a big part in how its effected him too, like thats purposeful.. like i said, hes been CONDITIONED not to acknowledge it..

to me, it looks like a classic situation in which kusuo doesn't acknowledge his trauma because he knows that if he did, it would change his outlook on his life, his family, and his childhood FOREVER. he would never be willing to tell anyone or ask for help on his own accord, and accepting that there was anything wrong in the first place means, to him, dealing with that issue by himself for the rest of his life.

why would he ever admit that anything was wrong if nothing would change either way? the only thing that WOULD change is HIM, and why would he want that? isnt it better to be blissfully unaware than to knowingly suffer in silence?

plus, he genuinely does love his brother and knows in the back of his mind that kusukes feelings toward him comes from their unhealthy upbringing and relationship and its more complex than just "hes an evil guy blah blah.." because he isnt really evil and kusuo KNOWS that.. actually, he might be the only person in the world who COULD understand..

so yeahhhh.. kokomi and kusuo are both CANONICALLY victims of sexual harassment.. (and incestual abuse at that..) and, by my interpretation, implied victims of sa as well !! (im not really sure where the line can be when it comes to this sometimes, like when your brother sniffs your bedsheets and rubs himself on them or gets off to you right in front of your face or tries to get you to grab something positioned over his crotch so he can see you in.. THAT position.. but i already said that its pretty likely that both brothers have gone farther than that off-screen..)

anywayyyy.. this is so important to me and i wish people would talk and write about it more instead of pretending it never happened and mischaracterizing every one of these characters, especially for the sake of a ship like i was talking about in my other post.. it sucks that people so often just cast kusuos canon issues aside..

ive definitely said this before but i think there's this common (and understandable!!) misconception that goh is canonically a victim of bullying and tbh i thought the same thing when jn was still airing lol but now that i have gone back and obsessively rewatched every episode a million times i think it's a lot more interesting to consider what the anime shows us, which is...not a kid who is bullied, but a kid who simply has no friends. and it doesn't seem to be a matter of, like, other kids not liking him. even in the very first episode, we see chloe's classmates asking her about him. it's a very casual "oh yeah, he never really comes to school, does he?" like they don't even really think about him that much. but they say his name respectfully, and just seem mildly curious about it. not really like...mocking or anything like that.

i mean, his whole "i don't need friends" attitude when they're younger could stem from bullying. that's completely possible. but the anime never really goes out of its way to make us think that? like...his disengagement in the flashback in the drizzile evolution episode emphasizes that he's refusing to play with his classmates - and that he doesn't even know why. if he were being bullied by them...wouldn't he have been able to at least articulate that he doesn't like them or that they don't treat him well or that they're just no fun to play with? like i won't say that some bullied kids aren't really unwilling to talk about the experience of being bullied...but in hindsight, they usually have a solid idea of what was going on.

The walk back into town was quiet, tension filling the space between the three as they turned in their horses to the stables and made the walk back to their house. For once Ellie wasn’t talking, wasn’t chatting their ears off, didn’t even make mention of the new book they had found that she had been eager to grab since it was the first of the series. Not the third or the second or fifth. First. A rare find. No, instead she was walking ahead of them, face pinched and moving with a heavy stomp with each step. Joel wasn’t in a much better mood, brow heavily furrowed and scowling at the ground. She was used to their lackluster sunshine attitudes. The area had already been swept multiple times and Ellie had wanted to come with them, saying she didn’t want to get soft and lose sight of what it was like out there. They’d let her come. It wasn’t a new spot and they both were there. If she was safe with anyone, it was them. But they hadn’t counted on infected moving into the area, traveling there. There’d been a few and when Ellie had accidentally tripped and fell, one going for her, she’d tackled it to keep her away. They’d wrestled hard until her knife found its home in its head and it had slumped off of her. It wasn’t anything out of the usual. They’d had closer scrapes and harder fights on the way to Utah. She was used to Joel’s anger, but wasn’t sure about the teenager’s. Ellie was hardly ever mad at her and she wasn’t sure how to feel now that she was its target. They both entered the house ahead of her and she quietly shut the door behind them, chewing on her lip, feeling the tension build. Ellie threw her backpack into the corner of the living room roughly, stomping towards the connecting kitchen. Joel caught her eye and then shook his head, huffing before dumping his own pack in the downstairs bedroom. “So I have to deal with both of you being pissy?” In the safety of their home, she could be more direct. But there was no confidence in her voice, the sarcasm flimsy. Even with them, she had a hard time communicating sometimes. 

Ellie slammed her hand down on the kitchen and spun to face her, cheeks red with anger, “You can’t do that, Red!” She swallowed her sigh, back stiffening as she clenched her jaw, “Do what?” The teenager growled out a loud groan and stomped back to her, using as much of her height as she could to get into her face, “Be that reckless! Joel gets after you all the time and you keep doing it!” “Ellie,” she bit out sternly, but the girl didn’t stop. Joel stood in the back, looking at the scene but not interfering, arms crossed as he leaned against the wall. So many times he’d yelled at her to stop being so careless, to stop treating herself as if she didn’t matter, and she had shrugged it off. Because Ellie was all that mattered. If something happened to her, she had Joel and it would be fine because they had each other. They had each other before she showed up and they would have each other after. But there was no mission anymore, no goal to get her to the Fireflies, nothing. There was only life. Living in Jackson together for the rest of their lives. She was still throwing herself in harm’s way though, because even if Ellie wasn’t going to save the world, she was her kid. And she couldn’t let anything happen to her. She hadn’t considered what it would do to Ellie if she was gone. Had remembered her argument with Joel when he tried to pass her off to Tommy. Everyone had left her or was dead. The tears won out and Ellie’s shoulders shook even as she desperately tried to look tough and hold it together. She didn’t say anything, didn’t console her that it would be okay. She just ran her hand over her hair and tucked her head into her chest. Ellie’s arms were a vice as she wrapped them around her waist, a steel band around her body, the flood gates opening as sobs broke through and she cried into her shirt. She only held her tightly, combing her hand over the loose strands of her ponytail and resting her head on hers. “I’m sorry,” she whispered, feeling her shake even harder, “I’m sorry.” Through her muffled sniffles, so quiet she almost didn’t catch it, she heard the reply, “Don’t leave me.” Her heart broke a little and she watched as Joel came a little closer. In that way they always could communicate silently, always seemed to be on the same frequency, she understood the look on his face. His eyes flickered to the kid in her arms, staring at her with a sigh, but looking back at her and giving her a nod. “Do better for her,” it seemed to say. She swallowed hard, pressing her face into Ellie’s hair, before nodding back. “I will.”

!!!! ok first off i just wanna say u made my day with this ask im so excited that other people r excited abt this and want to hear my explosions (also i definitely want to make individual profile posts for each tribute so this will be. sparknotes of what i have thought up so far :D) Tango - i have tango in district 3, along with mumbo. district 3 is the technology district, and with mumbos redstone contraptions and tango's decked out programming, it felt very obvious placements to me :] i dont think they were very close at all before the games. not in a bad way, just they didn't cross eachothers paths all that much (subject to change but in life series canon theyre never on the same team iirc). theyre cordial in the proceedings before the games but dont train together or plan to team up. tango, skizz, and bigb eventually ally together during the training days before the games! (aka heart foundation) Jimmy - jimmy and scar are actually from the same district, district 11! 11 is the agriculture district, and to place jimmy in this district i pulled from his ranchers and empires sheriff vibes if that makes sense. i also just know that 11 is one of the poorest districts and doesn't usually do well in the games, and we all know jimmy in these games. (i considered jimmy in 12 bc of the canary thing, but skizz and impulse r from there and i figured putting him somewhere else is fun too!) scar - as said above, scar is from district 11! i don't think he is expected to do super well in the games from the reaping, but during interviews its clear that he has the charisma to get some sponsors. i honestly haven't thought up all that much for scar yet but dw i will (he literally wins. how could i ignore him) fun fact! scar and jimmy were going to kind of team together, but during the first day of training, scott (career tribute) makes some joke to gem about how they wouldnt stand a chance if they teamed together bc of their district. jimmy let this get in his head and decided to split from scar, causing both of them to be loners at the start of the games. jimmy eventually finds martyn during the games and they ally bc of reasons (that i can get into if we want to), but scar stays relatively alone honestly most of these tributes and their district placements are pretty set in my mind, except for martyn, cleo, and bigb, who i still can't figure out where to put (if anyone has suggestions pls send them lmao). ive got some bits and plot points from the series already worked out into a hunger games universe, but a lot of it i dont! if theres any specific part of the series anyone wants to ask about, please do!! i work best when someone tells me what to brainstorm on lmao. anyways lol hope yall r liking this! i dont have any clue if it will gain any traction, but i've been thinking abt this au so much since the finale and i wanted to try and share it and talk about it with people :D pls send comments or asks abt any of it if you want to !!!

honestly this one was difficult. idk if its bc its been a while since i write fics from scratch so i might have forgotten how difficult the whole thing is, but this one was tough. ch 8 wasnt from scratch tho cos i had the drafts since like 2022 or smthg lol

ik the formatting is non conventional in ch 8 and i was aware that itd be hard to read for some people. but i do think abt the readers often when i write.. mainly not what the readers want in terms of storyline (altho ofc i consider this too sometimes lol) but what the reading experience will be like for them.

i.e consider if id written the chapter in a linear, traditional way and narrated the confrontation between 1-A and LoV (or even other wackier “Villains” like godzilla and invading aliens or whatever). the truth is, although def easier to read, that version will be very boring.

(i know bc i tried and scrapped those versions.)

(im sure a better writer can write it interestingly but i am not a better writer.)

the thing w writing these traditional fight scenes is tht im sure — im 1000% positive in fact — that the readers have read it before. there r literally thousands and thousands of bnha fics out there with great fight scenes, on top of the actual manga, where youve read these characters fight their assorted villains. why would i make you read that again, esp when i know i cant do it better? i already know the readers r just gonna skim the chapter if thats the case. ive been a reader, ik what fic fatigue is like — esp with bnha when everythings been rehashed infinity times in infinity different ways.

same thing also applies with even the “metaness” of the fic itself.

i dont want the fic to come off like its talking down to readers, whom i believe alrdy have the instinctual knowledge of what the fic is trying to do. im willing to bet tht the readers have read something similar to this before, like multiverses n time loop n meta stuff, also cosmic horror. i still end up narrating some things even though often i feel im being too explanatory. i jst feel like the readers will know what im talking abt by virtue of their familiarity to the tropes involved.

therefore the least i can do is serve it in an interesting way, aka the fuckass formatting. like although the tropes im doing r done so many times before, at the very least i cld let the readers hopefully have fun by piecing it together puzzle-style with the fragmented formats — so its more of an experience thing rather than jst a lore dump. i dont like lore dumps, they can be condescending.

demonology def doesnt succeed in avoiding that however. in fact its fallen to that exact trap. ch 4 and 6, those r very lore-dumpy. i tried to make it fun w the humor dialogue style but its not perfect. i know tht by ch 8 that tricks alrdy old, and the readers have all the puzzle pieces at this point anyway so itd be even more repetitive than it alrdy is. even so i still feel im being too explanatory esp with the emotional arcs but thats a skill issue on my part

overall i feel demon can be more oblique and “elegant” in its mechanics.

but anyway, it IS crack… it was never meant to promise intelligence, least of all eloquence lmfao. its never meant to be taken seriously.

of course, at this point u can tell that i actually am taking it pretty seriously LOL. i never meant to write meta fiction. i have some gripes w it, namely that i feel meta fiction is used by weaker writers as a storytelling crutch n it can come off as lazy — demon is guilty of this too. but now that i end up writing meta fiction, i might as well fucking commit and try to push it as crazy as i can. if its not gonna be good, at least it can be interesting, or weird.

blah blah im yapping. point is, ik the end product might look very “random” and pastiche as if i was jst doing whatever i wanted … which, true … but it went thru a lot of trials and errors until this final version. you would not believe the amount of time ive rewritten this chapter, due to all those ^ considerations.

however i always knew i was going to start ch8 with the classic mary sue “fanfiction” — that segment was written a long time ago like in 2022/2023?? and mostly stayed unedited since, unlike the rest of the fic which i stripped and repainted and restripped again lol

It's hard to take the early seasons very seriously considering its origins as essentially a tropey, slice-of-life version of MCD, and these tropes continue on throughout the series until (i can only assume) Jess went "oh, we're making this more serious, and if the series is more serious, these tropes (Travis being an anime perv, Katelyn being an anime tsundere, Nana's whole thing..) make certain characters unlikeable/weird/problematic/whatever else so we'll just write them out" (Travis confronting Katelyn, the whole Nana Ashida reveal).

While these are occasionally done well, to me it just seems like Jess trying to write out the tropey or bad things that came from the earliest versions of the characters without actually IRL addressing the initial issue with their design (with Nana even dating back as far as MCD, with her first appearance being 5 months before the the start of MyStreet. I'm counting the whole "Kawaii-chan" thing as problematic here bc to me it's.. weird.. but idk, im willing to be educated on that if im wrong!) maybe she doesnt NEED to address some of the character design choices irl but I feel like itd be better to clarify things (I could be wrong). There's a lot of earlier creative decisions (especially with things played as jokes) that don't help with the tone as the series became more and more serious, and even some things in those more serious seasons that were really questionable, and I often feel like I have to just decide which parts of certain episodes are canon or non canon because of things like that. Don't get me wrong, it's very good for something that started out with the technology that it did, but in my opinion it just doesn't really reach "show" quality to me. It leaves a lot to wish for. (I know that there are TV shows that have the same problems, but i wouldnt even bother watching them normally because they dont have the saving grace that is the fact that this is in Minecraft, a charming style of storytelling that kept me interested even when I had these major criticisms about the actual content of the story.) Anyways sorry for incoherent babbling! ^^; Just had to get that onto paper to see if I'm just being crazy or something. I know I might not be right about all (or even most) of the things I said here but thats just how it came across to me. Of course this might not fully convey what i mean to say or even say it in the right way, maybe eventually ill talk more abt this somewhere(I had other things I wanted to talk abt but was scared to) but im too nervous to say it without the safety of anonymity rn haha. like using the context of canon, plus this whole fucking betty-james-augustine lore or whatever, imagine baxter coming in, seeing how content and sweet your life is on this little street. it's so simple. even if your feelings are complicated, even if life is complex. your life on this street boils down to simplicity and baxter is something new, something hot.

you aren't dating cove yet, but he can see the sparks between you. he sees the glances, sees how your hand lingers on cove's shoulder, sees how cove looks at you like the world was crafted from your hands.

Well I only just started posting like, last year, and I hope none of my audios are on youtube because I've never posted them there before😭

But generally, I dont make scripts! Some of my audios are scripted but they always say so on the reddit post, and they're always someone else's script that I've filled! Everything else is all improv. I create somewhat of an outline/plot and once I have the basics down as well as maybe some quotes that I want to include typed out, I just sit in front of my mic and say whatever comes to mind really. The wet sounds are often made with my own mouth/hands and 'toys' I have that are kinda designated for audios lol
