the video of my bug becky painting :) unmute for music!
details under the cut 'cause this was a fun piece and I like talking about my work
In case anyone is curious, the song in the background is "A melody better left unknown" from the Blood in The Bayou soundtrack. It's fitting for obvious reasons (RIP Kian ily, you down-bad failed rockstar), but it's also one of my favourite tracks because of how gutted it leaves you!! I'll never forget that feeling of dread when Grizzly started to write the song with Becky. God. My favourite scene of the entire series.
We never truly meet Becky in bitb, but she's my favourite NPC anyways. I could go on and on about her and Kian's relationship (and I have... let me know if you want me to dig up the post) and what could've been. She's the perfect tragic ex-girlfriend for this silly tragic story. She was dead before we ever even meet her.
I struggled a little with the colours of this, mostly trying to get them to show up on my phone. My monitor does not display colours correctly, so it can be tricky trying to make stuff bright and saturated enough while still maintaining the contrast I was looking for. I think I did okay, but ehhh I think it could be improved on. It still looks miles better on desktop. Sorry mobile users.
The flowers, red spider lilies, are an iconic symbol of death. I tried to think of something more unique and less overdone, but fuck it. Straight from google they represent "sad memories, such as last goodbyes or the death of a loved one", plus they're also linked to reincarnation?? Hello??? The fact that they're native to Louisiana and grow in bayous make them all the more perfect. They're Becky's flower, hands down. Plus they're spider lilies. Like the bug (or arachnid). Haha.
It's kinda tricky to see, but the front pieces of her hair floating in the water form little bug mandibles. Probably my favourite part of the piece. I got the idea midway through the sketch and I knew I had to follow through.
Speaking of her hair... it's brown. This is due to the fact I was referencing the very talented @/alkalineleak's becky design and got carried away with my beloved warm colours before remembering that one of the only actual canon descriptors of Becky is that she had black hair. Whoops. I adjusted it a little but alas... It's brown. In a desperate attempt to make her look less like Rachel, I gave her an eyebrow piercing. But it's covered mostly by her bangs. Oh well.
This is probably my first digital painting I've posted since I drew Chip as a werewolf for halloween last year (if I remember correctly). I've improved a ton since then, but I'm still learning. I find with paintings the lack of lines gives you wayyy more freedom but also makes conveying forms much more tricky. Though I like how it turned out!!
My art program crashed a total of four times, two of which seriously set back progress. Consequences of recording a timelapse on a computer that can barely run Clip Studio Paint in the first place. Still not as bad as my goobleck animation... don't talk to me about that
This was all a huge bout of chronic procrastination. I have actual art projects due, figuring that I'm in art school. I'm so screwed. Like a week ago I swore off fanart and yet here I am... didn't last too long did I?
I am no better than Kian and would also die and join the hive for Becky (bug wife! bug wife! bug wife!). I hope they're together in hell.
Okay damn I still have more to say but that's a whole essay and a half, so I'm going to stop myself there. It's also 4am and I gotta head to uni in 3 hours. God. Uhm... Happy halloween go relisten to bitb it's spooky season!! (edit as I am posting this the day after: wow, that was a bad idea)
#wampus rambles#I adjusted the exposure on the finished picture slightly so it is a little different from the speed paint but it’s mostly the same <3

tag game :-)
tagged by @sophieswundergarten . sort of. i did it on my ted lasso blog i hope you dont mind :)
what's the origin of your blog title? i'm going to assume "title" is url and not the like, little header text. it's just a pun because i love trent and puns and also i think he's gorgeous
favorite fandoms : well, currently ted lasso, but the mysterious benedict society continues to hold a special place in my heart
OTP(s) + shipname : uhhh my current top ships are tedependent and roytrent, but nicholas/milligan (tmbs) also of course sneak into my brain and my old beloved malec (shadowhunters tv only not the other version) will always hold a special stubborn little place in my heart. also, the doctor/river. love them so much
favorite color : hmm dark greens with warm undertones, but like, that kind of forest/jewel green not olive/army you know
favorite game : ohhh that's so hard. hollow knight, disco elysium, the legend of zelda: breath of the wild, and pokemon mystery dungeon: explorers of sky are probably the top ones, but i also love bug fables: the everlasting sapling, turnip boy commits tax evasion, goat simulator 3, minecraft, the legend of zelda: phantom hourglass, the legend of zelda: link between worlds, new pokemon snap, pokemon platinum, a short hike, haunt the house: terrortown, and so so many more. i'm a big video games fan. i'm also currently obsessively playing hello kitty island adventure which is fun
song stuck in your head : uhhhh nothing right now but i think the last one was like. maybe "Bad Memories" with MEDUZA, or "SATANIC PANIC" by IDKHOW? Oxford Blood (Autoheart)? I can't remember
weirdest habit/trait? ummmm my whole personality probably. idk man i'm a weird little man i can't think of any particular specific habit other than my lack of filter i guess. uhh i dont like hot drinks usually, even tea, despite half my family being british? and i really really love soda. oh, i can't drive despite being in my twenties lol
hobbies : oh mostly artsy shit. writing, drawing, comics, zines, beading (mostly bracelets and lizards), stickers, that kind of thing. also: video games. mostly playing, but i dabble in making/design also
if you work, what's your profession? no job rn :( got into an MFA program i'll hopefully be starting soon though!
if you could have any job you wish what would it be? hmmm. either creating something (like making my own dream game, writing a book, directing or acting in a tv show, maybe even running a youtube channel or podcast) or like, just something simple but fulfilling that didn't leave me exhausted for my free time. that pays well. you know
something you're good at : writing, i like to think
something you're bad at : um, gender. taking compliments/praise. not having really intense feelings over things that dont matter. typing on mobile phone
something you love : stuffed animals and soft pillows. soda, particularly colas with weird fruity flavors (currently drinking blackberry dr pepper lol) although pibb xtra will always be a fave. loaded fries. hand-cut fries (not loaded)
something you could talk about for hours off the cuff : hmmm any of my beloved case of the week shows (there are too many to list), TMBS, trent crimm
something you hate : people being stupid/wrong in a way that is annoying to me specifically but i know isn't a big deal so i just have to simmer with it and the intense feeling of wanting to correct them somehow but like i'm not a dick so i don't do that but like i'm just simmering in it going hhhhh>:(
something you collect : pins, pens, magnets, beads, stickers, keychains. i love me some little trinkets
something you forget : everything, always, all the time
what's your love language? ummm idk. love languages are kind of bullshit but they're fun to talk about anyway and i guess it'd be like. thoughtful actions and gift giving you know. i do love little gifts i cant help it and people being thoughtful and helping you for no reason is just really nice
favorite movie/show : oh man, i have no idea. there are too many good ones that i rewatch all the time, or ones that are bad but im super attached to one character, or whatever. i can't really decide.
favorite food : fries, particularly either hand-cut fries cooked just right (a little crispy but not crunchy) or like fries loaded in some interesting way (not just slapping cheese and bacon on). also see: cajun/spicy burger with mayo
favorite animal : uhhhh so many good choices. cats. frogs. moths. lizards. dogs. birds. etc. i cant choose im sorry. can i cheat and say dragon for now
are you musical? oh yeah! i haven't played the flute in ages so i'd probably be bad at it but i love to sing
what were you like as a child? extremely annoying, alternating between loud hyper little ball of garish colors (attempted class clown, but too annoying to other children to truly succeed) and extremely quiet forgettable little know-it-all bookworm (attempted teachers' pet, but too annoying to adults to truly succeed)
favorite subject at school? uhh, english and art
least favorite subject? biology, probably
what's your best character trait? i like to think i'm kind and helpful and maybe even funny
what's your worst character trait? i can be selfish and spiteful even if it's mostly internal, and also annoying & persistent when i don't catch a hint. and since i can't really read people well i consistently don't catch the hint. and the not reading people means i also often get defensive and read hostility where it might not be
if you could change any detail of your day right now what would it be? a delicious meal that isn't leftovers
if you could travel in time who would you like to meet? oh, i have no clue. i think someone random. not anyone famous, just an everyday (but hopefully nice) person from a chosen period
recommend one of your favorite fanfics (spread the love!) :
oooh only one?? here, let's. i will settle for three
to seek solace by @andillwriteyouatragedy
slowly, gently, with love by @fade-in-the-dark
Just like bull riding by @itsonlydana
tagging: uhhhhhhhh anyone. who wants to. bc im lazy

Hi! Super weird question to ask, but, I was wondering if you were the person that wrote a fan fic of Bucky/Peter called “Forever.” On Ao3? If so, I always wanted to know what happened to that fic, because it was literally the best of literature I’ve read on Bucky/Peter. It was so good that I would go back to read it again, and I was wondering if you still had that fic, or if something happened to it, I just wanted to know because it still eats me up to this day that I can’t read it no more 😭. Also if this isn’t who I think it is, then I’m sorry please ignore this!
Hi!!! I'm not sure how old this message is but yes, I am the person who wrote Forever. The reason it got deleted was actually not by my choice. The coauthor was found out to be lying about faking a terminal illness and so she deleted her entire account on ao3 and I believe on tumblr as well. Ao3 terminates even coauthored fics if one person decides to remove it so the entire thing was removed and I have just never gotten around to fixing the issue because it was so time consuming and during the aftermath I was still finishing by Bachelor's degree and didn't have time to sort through and make sure I had all the files. Sadly, after checking it looks like all the files were deleted at some point.
But! I do have some good news! Ao3 emailed me some documentation of the original fic so I do have a readable version, it's just not formally posted anymore. I keep telling myself I'll get around to reposting it and so I haven't released the link but I have a feeling I might never get to it so here's the link since I feel bad its been hidden in a backroom for so long.
It is the story in its entirety and pretty much all the original information. Really the biggest hurdle to me posting it on ao3 has been needing to divvy things up into chapters and do all the tagging again.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy! Let me know if the link works. I tested it while logged out to make sure you didn't need to be signed into my throw away account to access the info and it seemed fine but confirmation doesn't hurt.

oh your the person who did the jack-o thing I very much enjoyed that I don't think we've had a conversation but I think I have seen you around I haven't interacted because you would like to write really long messages and I probably would read them but by the time I have the energy to read a long thing it's lost (at least I hope that's you that would be weird to say to you if it wasn't)
I'm kind of hungr and sleepy been like that for a while more sleepy than hungry though probably cuz I'm more stressed then I think I am
I probably shouldn't say that oh whatever I'm not erasing it I hate formatting in Tumblr asks and I love formatting but just Tumblr is bad for it I would not recommend writing in Tumblr I mean at least on mobile I don't use Tumblr on my computer
Hmmm want a poem? Too bad you're getting one
BY ROBERT FROST
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
This is one of my favorites I really like poetry I also like sending it to people a person I usually send it to has their asks closed though I actually write some to it on ao3 it's linked in my thing pinned post is the word I'm looking for I'm very sleepy anyway in my pen post is like a bunch of other stuff I do not to shamelessly advertise in your asks

this is non-negligent manslaughter she say 'mew' not right now cuz she's sleeping on my chair she lets me touch her toe beans i got her for 20 bucks from the shelter she came without a uterus and with a microchip and I'd say that's a pretty good deal she is very kitten though she's only 5 months old 4 months old when I got her and I wanted a cat not kitten but the shelter didn't have any cats
I'm going to go eat a frozen pizza now maybe something else probably frozen pizza
Well hi! Nice to meet you too. I'm glad you like my little Jack thing! I think Jack has become my favorite DCA....
But yeah it's understandable We haven't talked. I'm trying to curve my big long paragraphs be shorter but we're still working on that. I've seen you around too. It's just usually in conversations I can't talk in.
Heheh. Yeah Tumblr can be a angry beast. Mobile isn't exactly fun. But that's what I do most of my stuff on so.... I suffer in silence.
That's an interesting poem? Is it supposed to be a horse slay? I've written poems before. Mostly because a lot of my characters talk in poems, or rhymes. But that's one intrigues me and I'm going to have to puzzle out what it's about.
I'll have to see if I can read up on some of your AO3 stuff. I've been reading more of that stuff lately, So it might be a treat.
Hello non-intelligent manslaughter. Hehehe. She looks like a sweetheart. Pretty lass. Hopefully the little kitty won't drive you insane. I know sometimes they can. I'm so glad all my cats are out of the kitten hood.
Enjoy your pizza! I think I'm going to reheat some mac and cheese.

Could I have some resources please on the claim that under anarchism, disabled people would have no aid, especially insulin, etc. I'm an aspiring anarchist but I hear anti anarchists say this stuff and cannot find anything to rebutt their claims or proof of it! I want to be an anarchist, but I do not want disabled people such as myself to suffer under it if that's a true claim
here's a really good all-rounder for you, with sections on both disability and healthcare.
that's such an alien thought to me these days because so many of the anarchists i know are disabled, guess i forgot that there's people out there that think like that.
i gave ya a link, but im gonna share some of my own thoughts anyways.
the thing (that most of us(looking at you, ancaps)) are fighting for is explicitly a society built around mutual aid and accessibility for all.
why would we stop caring and providing for those around us, without the state telling us to?
if the state goes away, my mom and i will still mow and clean up my blind neighbor's lawn and shovel part of his sidewalk. If the state goes away, my sister is still going to watch the dog for our other neighbor who's a busy single mother and can't always be around. if the state goes away, i'm still going to be looking out for my houseless friends and trying to get them whatever help or support they need.
if that can be true on a personal level, why can't it be true on a organizational and professional level? would doctors magically stop being doctors? would people stop making prosthetics and mobility aids?
so why would insulin suddenly dissappear overnight?
does the president like, secrete it, or something?
no, it's made by relatively normal people who make it because it's their job to make it. in a more horizontally organized society, the only thing that would really change is that their workplace would be democratized, and in the context of a gift economy (or something similar) the insulin would be seen not as a product, but something to be given, just as food or water would be.
"from each according to their ability, to each according to their need", right?
care is not something magically handed down from the heavens, it is something that people *do*.
*we* care for us, and to some extent or another, we always have.
how that care is *organized* though, is a political question, and this is what anarchism seeks to change - under capitalism, care is generally something that you either have to pay for, is handed down through "charity", or is controlled and parceled out by the state.
authoritarian communists want to hand everything over to the state, and simply assume that the state will care for us once it controls everything. that nationalization is an unalloyed good, simply because the state ain't the bosses - making it inherently good since the bosses are inherently bad.
on the other hand, a lot of people have this stereotype of anarchists as unorganized, rowdy bandits - but it's not that anarchists don't believe in organization, rather we believe that we should organize as horizontally, freely and democratically that we can. that is to say, anarchists tend to be... less *optimistic* about depending solely on the good graces of an all-powerful state, regardless of what 'flavor' that power comes in.
we take care of us, right?
well, except for ancaps i guess, they think that everyone should just be thrown to the wolves. it's no wonder why everyone thinks the ancaps are clowns.
bit rambly, but hope that helps. this isn't exactly something I'm well-versed in, but even i can defend against arguments as simple as this.
oh and hey, thanks for asking! hope ya have a nice day.

Admin housekeeping incoming — just wanted to write a few updates on some upcoming projects.
1) I've done some major redesigns to my tumblr, so hopefully it will be nicer to look at & easier to use. I will note, however, that some pages might be better suited to desktop viewing & minor decorative pieces could look a little off when viewing on a mobile browser. I don't use the tumblr app, so I'm now realizing that I have no clue how things will look there at all... whoops. If you happen to find something massively broken, send me an ask & I'll look into figuring out what went wrong. It's worth noting that I've set up redirect pages for the two old static masterlists, but you'll need to click the link on them to redirect to the new navigation page since every auto redirect code I found uses JavaScript.
2) The DMMd re:code Materials Book will take a little longer than I originally expected to get up. TL;DR, my day job has been kind of wild this month & the scanner I use was out of commission for a while. I'm hoping to finish it sometime during March, so long as no more wrenches get thrown into my plans.
3) Work on TCN 2009 is progressing relatively smoothly, so I'm still crossing my fingers for things to be finished by White Day. Eagle-eyed folks might've noticed that the new masterlist page for TCN also includes a third event... That DVD will be arriving at some point in the future, but I'll likely work on it during the summer/fall so I can upload some other items first.
4) I have... a lot of things to scan. Like a LOT. We're talking probably close to 1k scans. It's immensely tedious. I will get through everything eventually, but if things get slow around here, it's likely because I'm in scanning hell.
5) Some VK things will eventually be posted on here as well, primarily because I just want someplace to put them. It won't become the focus of this account, & some of it will be of interest to DMMd fans anyway.
6) Lastly... If you're interested in seeing something in particular on here, send me an ask. I can't make any promises — especially if I don't have access to whatever it is — but I will take note if it seems like there's a big interest in something. I'm just one person & I'm paying for everything with my own funds, so please keep that in mind.
If you read all that, then thanks, haha. Hope you're enjoying things here!

PROGRESS POST
(10/4/23)
This is partly for accountability and partly just to get all this out of my head! This last month or two have felt so hectic, getting used to a new work and sleep schedule and all. I'm still not quite there.
If you're curious about what I've been working on and what my plans are in terms of writing and art for the rest of the year, read on. :)
I will say, though, that if you want more of a specific AU or story, the way to get it is by asking questions and leaving comments! Asks and comments remind me about things I'm doing and get me excited about them again! I have these plans, but I also am very good at chasing inspiration to unknown (and sometimes unimportant) corners!
By Fandom
Linked Universe Projects
I've been feeling less motivated to work on LU stuff, but I still plan on at least finishing what I have open, so you can look forward to some of that!
Writing
Disability AU—one small mobility trio fic in the works. A few vague ideas for doing backstory fics.
Council (1931 vampire AU)—this is still the "backburner to backburner" fic, but I do have some fun ideas. I just have been distracted with other things! I think this AU is a lot of fun and I'd love to do more with it. We'll have to see.
The Marvelous Misadventures of Wind and His Merry Band of Maybe-Human Misfits—chapter 7 (out of 9 or so) is in progress. I have it all outlined out, and it's fun to work on, but I have (again) been distracted! This is, I hope, going to be my main December project. It'd be nice to finish before it turns 2 years old next summer. Oops.
I have several other WIPs that aren't very exciting and probably won't see daylight, but they're there if I feel like them
Art
Coloring book—I'm part of the coloring book project! :) I have already finished 1/2 drawings, and they went so well, I'm considering doing more.
Shatterproof manga page—still on my radar! I'm doing the end scene from dazzling diamond danger, and my ambition keeps outgrowing my time.
Four Swords Projects
Writing
Fairytale AU—man I've started this Vidow BatB fic literally five times. I have an almost-complete draft sitting at like... 20k?? iirc, but I kind of hate a lot of it. I also like a lot of it. It's a bit difficult for me to work on rewriting something in that situation. Anyway. Another December thing probably.
Fright Fight—I have ideas for every week, but am currently unsure if I want to draw or write for them. Most of my October will be focused on filling these prompts!
Vampire Lords AU—I have strange as severe is this my fate open right now, with a fair amount of material... it just needs to be edited a bit. I do want to keep working on that, I've just... well. Distraction. A common theme. XD I might be feeling another little bite fic coming on, too.
Art
Fright Fight—see above
Fright Fight part 2—I have a few side things to do for this, like making graphics that I haven't quite finished yet. They shouldn't take long, I just gotta do em!
Non-Fandom
Stickers—I am in the process of drawing some stickers! Yay! These are for my work, but also just for me. I want some Halloween stickers. This is a backburner project.
Nanowrimo project—I need to spend some time figuring out a few things to really get going on my princess-verse. I'm going to be doing Nanolympics this year, so hopefully some of their preptober stuff will help!
Hearts Linked Together—my super-cool Linkverse. XD I love my dumb timeline, and all the characters, they're just filler drawings that I haven't had time to continue.
Secret Zelda project—I really really need to do this! I can't say much right now, but it involves a fair amount of work, both writing and art. I think I haven't gotten very far on it yet because I'm intimidated. Stop that.
Zine edits—I worked really really hard on an art piece for a LoZ zine coming up! This week is critique, and I anticipate a few edits later.
By Month
Facebook posts—a lady I know wants to commission pretty quote images to post on her Facebook. I need to reply to her text. And do them.
September
I primarily worked on the fic Blood-Sucker's Guide to High School. I also worked on and submitted one fic and one piece of art to two different zines, which I hope you'll see soon.
October
If you care, you may have noticed I'm not doing Whumptober this year! Part of this is because I'm a bit burned out from the above, and part of it is that the prompts just didn't seem very inspiring to me this year. Maybe that's just my mindset. I haven't been in a very whumpy mood.
I'm planning on filling weekly prompts for @fsfrightfight this month and maybe chipping away at some other fics, in addition to one more zine contribution. I'm also going to be planning for November and doing some scattered art work here and there.
November
NaNoWriMo! I considered skipping this... but I'm feeling really inspired and motivated to do it, especially with October as a break. I'm going to write some original work, and that will be the focus of my November. I'll likely get some other art done, too.
December
I hope to dedicate this month to finishing things up from this year! That means working on "backburner" projects.

reply roundup!
would you believe I was actually planning to do this the very morning the [licorice gorb] got blazed (obviously it was a better idea to put it off until after it was over)
also someone reblogged it with a screencap where it says "blazed by notpikaman" under my username and tbh I am so glad I'm not the only one burdened by that information XD and thank you to everyone who said "good blaze op" or some variant thereof, a high compliment
anyway welcome all you new followers and also folks who just wanted to reblog the one thing and be on your merry way, I do this occasionally so that I actually get to reply to y'all's tags n such <3 (without making a lot of blog clutter)
we also have a couple new image descriptions! thank you to @cherrycreamsicle for the image description on [suitcase] and @istherewifiinhell for the image description on [kirbear]! both have been added as alt text to the original posts, with credit.
on [the last roundup] @cherrycreamsicle said: Hey no worries! Any accessibility is good accessibility! I'm always happy to help! Hope you and your wife are doing well ^_^
thank you! I felt like it was important to acknowledge that putting it in alt text is not as good for some people as putting it in the body of the post, but it is still definitely better to have. (and thank you! she's doing much better now.)
on [watch] @ceylonsilvergirl said: Do it!! Watch repairs!! Those skills are so niche and needed And especially good for people inclined to pay attention to the details
it just seems really fun! I love little mechanical things and building miniatures and stuff like that so it feels like something I'm capable of! (also I can do it at home for only a couple hours at a time and possibly still make money lol)
on [watch] @macro-microcosm said: i hope you guys make big bucks in a lil watch biz some day
thanks! I'm sure I'd badger my beige-loving partner into letting me make at least one of them my signature kirby-pink lol
on [eggroll] @ceylonsilvergirl said: You felt good enough to go out without mobility aids!! You felt that good! That’s fantastic news! Of course use them when you need them, they’re good! But your body was doing well! That’s whats important
yeah!! it's important to me to emphasize to others that it's not the not using the aids it's the feeling well enough to not need to, cuz it's a mistake that's like. pretty common and even popular. (consider "wow this wheelchair user walked the stage at their graduation and was clearly in pain the whole time" type of stuff. the ubiquity of that type of "inspiration porn" has a huge impact on the disabled community, especially because a significant portion of us are exposed to that first rather than the realities of being disabled.) but feeling well even for one day means my body is still capable of feeling well under the right circumstances, and that matters!
on [kirbear] @hobgirl told a nice story I feel weird about copy/pasting directly but yknow it's there in the tags as long as they choose to leave it up
stuff like that is scary, and the doctors and veteran patients know that! I'm glad you had something comforting with you, and that it was able to lead to even more support than just what it carried by itself.
on [printer] @angst-and-fajitas said: every time I've ever interacted with a printer it has always felt like this and @ceylonsilvergirl said: I have yet to meet a printer that will just friggin’ work
honestly like 90% of the time printers work fine and I don't even think about it, but that last 10% of the time feels like Such A Trial that it really dominates the conversation lol
anonymous asked: Happy kirby day mx gorb :>
thank you! this is what reminded me to actually draw kirby a little cake so it was helpful lol
on [licorice] @ceylonsilvergirl added the [link] for the exact candy I was thinking of
so glad they still exist tbh. don't even remember if I've ever had one I'm just glad they exist!
on [meds] @queenhippolyta said: Do you find that the cromolyn helps you? I started it maybe two months ago but haven’t really noticed a difference yet
it seemed helpful for me when recovering/restabilizing from my covid vaccine, which laid me out for months, but there was a lot of other stuff going on and it was more of a, well, stabilizer than an actual boost. I really don't know if it's doing anything for me now as high vs low compliance really doesn't seem to make a causative difference. (there is a correlation, because on bad days it's harder to get up and take it in the middle of the day, but that's like. definitely not causative.) it might be that different dosing would work better for you, or it might be that it just doesn't really help you! mcas is a tricky beast, as we all know. (I hope you actually find this buried in the roundup >n< )
on [corner] @ceylonsilvergirl said: dang kirbo’s on the ceiling again, grab the broom
this one just made me laugh

good news, I will continue to draw silly stuff again whether I'm paid or not! additional good news, for those who want more specific silly stuff drawn commissions are open on [kofi] for a few more hours (~6 probably depending how long this post takes me to finish)
@sonisis asked: iEs El Kirbo!
it sure is!

I wouldn't put it past me tbh (which is why I specified XD )
anonymous asked: Hi your Kirbys are very nice
thank you! I love to draw a Little Guy

whoops you've activated one of my fun facts! whenever I am Out And About by myself (which is very very rare these days What With The Illness), I am almost always singing. I am completely comfortable singing at full volume at any time and any place (aside from general noise decorum such as "not in the library" and "not while my wife is sleeping"). so I have not had this specific version of this problem in my lifetime lol
anonymous asked: “Art” that a four year old could do? Don’t quit that day job at target.
look ma, my first anon hate! I'm big time now!
for real though, like, I wanna answer this one kinda seriously even though I'm sure this was just a driveby, because I know it's a common insecurity. why are you upset? if anyone can do it, why shouldn't I? why aren't you?
I make very very very little money from this blog (I even looked up the numbers, in the nearly 5 years I've been doing this I've made a total of ~$1650 to date), but that's because I'm really not putting in effort to make it ~profitable~. my patreon is has no rewards and my commissions are closed (except for literally right now), I only put very rare purposefully designed products on my print-on-demand stores and I haven't made my own stickers to sell in over a year. so if you're mad about people giving me money, don't be. even if you very very conservatively assume only 10 minutes per drawing and also zero other time put into running this blog, that's bare minimum 295 hours I've put into this. in reality it's going to be way way higher than that, but even if you assume I'm only drawing 10 minutes a day for 1771 days and I'm only drawing with no other admin etc, that's only $5.50 an hour, or about $0.93 per drawing.
part of why I don't put in the effort to make it ~profitable~ is because I can't. when my patreon had actual rewards and my commissions were always open and I was still making stickers, that took a ton of energy, and yes it made me a little more money than I'm getting right now, those two years are the period of time the majority of it came from, but it was energy I don't have. I'm disabled, severely chronically ill, and very vocal about it. I don't have a day job to quit because I physically can't do that. but that's also why I can't put in the energy to make this blog a ~business~, and even when I was putting in more energy than I actually had, it was not exactly big returns. I think the biggest most profitable year was like. $800. for the whole year. I made 5 times that doing data entry for a couple hours a week before that company shut down the same year, and the data entry was easier.
so okay, I'm not doing it for the money. (money sure would be nice to have, and I appreciate the patrons who stick around just cuz and the commissions that got picked up this week, but clearly that's not my motivation because there's not much money in running this blog.) then why should I bother?
because making stuff is fun. I get to draw silly little things that make me happy and sometimes other people like them too. that's it. what's the harm in that?

Hey Cinzia! Belated wishes for a wonderful new year. My apologies for not writing earlier. It has been hectic (my country does not really have a holiday break) and I am busy with real life. Just read Mokona Minuta and enjoyed it very much. It really captures that CCS feel but gives us a peak into the life Kero and Yue had before CCS began. It really contextualised the grief and anguish they must have felt after Clow "died". No wonder they were so furious at Eriol's appearance. I also tried to read your timeline for the CCS world but the link is not working despite me trying several times. I am not sure what I am doing wrong but can I have some other link so that I can read it? Again, greetings for the new year.
Happy New Year Aubretia!! 🩷 Don't worry at all, I also had moments where I couldn't reply to asks, either cause I was working on other stuff or because I wasn't in the right mental space...
I'm really glad you have read the translation of the Mokona Minuta picture book! ❤️A hidden pearl that I'm sure many still don't know about...I totally agree on the vibe, and it also clarifies better the type of relationship there was between Clow and Yuuko, and the feelings that must have been hidden behind that devastating involuntary wish...
Oh no, you have problems with the CCS timeline?? It's strange, I tried to access it both from mobile and desktop but the link is working for me...😥I'll post the link here again but honestly I don't have another way to show it because it's an animated timeline hosted on Visme and I'd have to pay to get a downloadable version 😥I hope the service isn't restricted in your country or something like that....anyway, try again from this link and let me know how it goes: https://my.visme.co/view/kk18m9nx-cardcaptor-sakura-timeline
If anyone out there had problems accessing this timeline as well, please let me know!

okay, hopefully this link works, but i created a new page with updated links - looks the same, but all of these links should work. some of them will not work on the app because they're threads, so that's collaborative exchanges between mostly me and another writer, so the links have /chrono at the end so that you can read them from beginning to end instead of backwards - but for some reason the /chrono links will not work on the app. i don't know why. but they should on a mobile browser! and they definitely do on desktop.
if you want me to fix the links on the second half of the timeline (i think that's the one on nearlostcauses) or the other alternate timeline, let me know and i can fix those, too!
anyway, thanks for checking in with me, and i'm glad you enjoyed the others, and i hope you enjoy these, too!
Yes! It works! I tested a few of the links on desktop and they worked! :-D
And it was a LOT of fun getting to read those stories!
Jessica's mindset, Roger's happy ignorance, their relationship development ... AAH!
I can't think of the best words right now, so you'll have to take that "AAH!" as a sign of my appreciation!
Thank you so much for fixing the links and making this possible! And yeah, the other timelines would be nice to see too - to give me something else to read once I've worked my way through the first timeline. ;-)
Wishing you well!

Hi, Dee!
Please know this is not a request bc I know you’re a busy adult, but were you considering adding more of your work on here to ao3? I’m mobile-only on an iOS device and the damn thing isn’t letting me view some of your work 😭😭😭 I was going back and reading some spicy sleepover fics and there was an Aizawa one that my phone wouldn’t let me read. Tried the settings and everything and nothing will let me override that. I’m sorry I’m kind of venting about this 😭😭😭
But anyway while I’m here, how has your holiday season been?
oh wow. i just went on an adventure hunting through my posts and tags, because the link wouldn't work for me either. i was almost convinced it somehow got deleted, but turns out it was just flagged LOLLL. all the straight up nude photos that float around on this website but my drabble with 100 something notes is an issue 😭. anyway it should hopefully work for you now. thank you for letting me know!!
i'll pop that one up on ao3 when i get a chance, too :') i think i'm maybe missing a couple things, but otherwise my ao3 should be mostly up-to-date for all of my fics that have titles! i typically don't upload really short/untitled drabbles or anything that i've written in lapslock. but if there's anything else you were looking for on there, feel free to let me know!
my holiday season has been busyyyyy! i've been traveling for over a week, but i'm finally home and ready to hibernate :') i hope you're well<3!

CharacterHub Mobile Review!
Desktop + initial impressions + deeper insight found here: link
There won't be nearly as many pictures here because you can only do 10 images per post on mobile and that's. So annoying. This is going to be way shorter considering the lack of images. ANYWAY. Your light mode/dark mode preference does not carry across automatically.
Also you can transfer characters on this site as well! I didn't mention that because I didn't think to check the ... menu on the character page. That's also where the "compliment bomb" option is, but I still don't know what it does, so I will continue to ignore it.
Initial impressions on using it on mobile is that the lag is... strange and annoying, considering there was no lag on desktop. That was on Safari. From here on out I'm using DuckDuckGo, which seems to handle it better... for.. some... reason. (My desktop review was on Firefox btw, if you wanted to know.)
Unlike on desktop, I'm able to change the screen ratio (portrait to landscape) and it won't freak the fuck out and erase everything I've already written. This is better than desktop for obvious reasons.
For this character, I decided to see how well the images work. The profile and banner images have shaped guides to show what parts of the images will be shown, and the profile images are all circles... but I made everything for AF where they're squares instead, lmao. That aside, when you upload images, you're allowed to make an album, with a name, and there's an option to watermark all your images. You can do it individually, and there's a button to move the images so the order they're in is to your liking.
Images can be uploaded in bulk without paying for the subscription.
CharacterHub's watermark is square and overlayed over the center of the image, alongside text making a grid across the rest of it. Here's the image (copy/pasted on desktop, as on mobile you can't hold to open the image in another tab or anything).
This may be less effective than the watermark of your choice, so just keep that in mind if you're going to use CharacterHub and hope it'll keep everything perfectly safe, since it definitely doesn't have your username/links/etc. on it and just tells people where it came from (they might even think CharacterHub is a person). The watermark also does not apply to the profile or banner images, just what you've uploaded to share in full.
Since I wasn't going through every little option available it was a lot quicker making a basic profile, this time. I would prefer to make them on desktop just because it's easier for me to type on my laptop, but other than that it seems equal.
There is still a slight bit of lag despite changing browsers.
Generally, across both desktop and mobile, I have to admit that the sidebar is so crowded. When you have it open in full on desktop it looks like this:
But when you're on mobile/smaller window, this is what it looks like:
These are a lot of options to cram into one sidebar. It's perfectly okay to have nested options? They could have used that more outside of the "My Creations" section, or put the notification icon somewhere else on the entire screen. Instead, they have this along the bottom:
Which means... there's two options for home, creations, creating, and social. None of those buttons need to be on the sidebar when they've decided to put them on the bottom already. Like there's three fucking shopping buttons.
As an update to the "storage space" limitation on CharacterHub, it appears as if the progress bar keeping track of the storage space you have left is color-coded to what you have. Also I can show you a picture of it now because there aren't 29 other images in the post so here you go:

Well, have you missed me?
Of course, you've probably not noticed I've been away. Time travel's funny like that. But, yeah, we've just spent a few weeks trapped in 1969! Which, to be fair, was more cheery than 1913.
It all started when we, yet again, arrived in 2007. I'm not sure why we keep going back there but I'm seriously hoping it's not because that's when Rose was from. Anyway, we landed in the grounds of this old house called Wester Drumlins. It was pretty cool actually. The kind of place Mum used to drag us to when we were kids. And in the garden, there were these statues. Only, they weren't statues. They were aliens of some sort. The Doctor said they're called Weeping Angels. Of course, he only realised that AFTER they'd zapped us back to 1969 – leaving the TARDIS behind. So, yeah, that's where we've been. The Swinging Sixties. Rock on!
Bless him, he had a bit of a panic about being separated from the TARDIS but I calmed him down. Told him we'd be fine. And, for once, I honestly knew that we would because we had this folder telling us what we needed to do. It was all this information compiled by this woman called Sally who lived in 2007. And she compiled it based on what we'd told her – in our future but her past. Time travel... it can seriously mess with your mind!! I asked the Doctor to explain it all to me but he started babbling on about timey-wimey devices so I stuck a banana in his mouth.
So, really, it was a case of the Doctor setting up all this stuff for Sally while I... lived, I guess. We got ourselves a little flat. Tiny little place that makes mine back home look like a palace. Oh and before you ask, he stayed on the sofa! Of course, to pay for it all, I had to get a job. In a shop. Now, there's nothing wrong with working in a shop. It beats being a maid anyway but it's a bit of a step down from being a nearly-Doctor. It was a bit of a laugh really. Got on great with the other girls although it was a shock to suddenly realise that they were the same age as my mum! So, yeah, days were spent in the shop and evenings either out with the girls or staying in and watching telly with the Doctor. Oh, now that's funny. You should have seen him, sitting watching the telly eating his dinner off a tray. He looked so uncomfortable. And I know it's cruel and wrong to laugh at that but him all hunched up on this tiny sofa, his gangly legs sticking out while he ate his beans and watched Coronation Street... it was like the most alien thing I think I've seen yet. Oh, and one night, we watched the Eurovision concert! Lulu was one of the winners with Boom Bang-a-Bang which was weird. Not her winning but the whole fact that only a few weeks ago we were at the 2007 Eurovision. It really brought home how all this time travel thing is just all a bit mental. In 1913, seeing Tim as a young kid then seeing him again in 2008 as an old man. Working with girls my age who are really my mum's age. Going from the 2007 Eurovision to watching the 1969 Eurovision. Being in the year where Harold Saxon was born but coming from the year where he's standing for Prime Minister. It's a bit like... everything's linked. Time isn't this linear thing that we think it is. Like there's, I dunno, some kind of pattern. Or something. I guess I'm just seeing the bigger picture. Hark at me getting all profound!
But yeah, ignoring all the head-messing madness of time travel, it's been fun. It's just been nice to spend some time with the Doctor where we're not running around fighting off alien invaders or whatever. We've just had time to sit and watch a bit of telly, eat normal food that kind of thing. You know, like normal friends do.
But it's also good to be off again. Not sure where we're heading. He's mentioned something about topping-up but I'm guessing he doesn't mean his mobile.
So, I'll speak to you soon from whatever year we next end up in! Rock on!

Hi, I'm sorry to bother but do you know about this?
https://mobile.twitter.com/hitthebookspost/status/1557621677508513792
If you don't, I hope you can read this, and maybe you can repost about this...
Again I'm sorry to bother but this woman is like Umbridge in Harry Potter. Really. It's terrified.
Yes, I've seen that. I've been pondering how to talk about this, as I've seen other authors/blogs bring it up.
It's no secret that I love and use ao3. I've been on fanfiction.net, LiveJournal, Dreamwidth, etc etc in my time. I've seen fanfiction purges and policing, and it's almost always to users' detriment.
There are many topics and stories I don't personally agree with. I know the adage "don't like don't read" is a bit overused, but I stand by it. Personally, I hate reading stories about underage sex/abuse. It grosses me out. I stay away from stories about graphic sexual assault and rape; it triggers me.
But that doesn't mean I want those stories wiped off the internet. And who am I to really draw that moral line, anyway? If, say, I purge ao3 of pedophilia and any underage sex, will non-con and dub-con be on the chopping block next? Who decides that?
Proponents of "curation" on fanfiction sites make a similar, parallel "slippery slope" argument. They claim that easy and visible access to topics like child abuse or incest will lead to inappropriate behavior or beliefs in real life. It will legitimize these topics, and encourage such actions.
I don't think I need to tell most people that reading about something doesn't mean you like it, endorse it, or want to perform it in real life. Nobody ever asks men who read American Psycho if they maybe shouldn't have, in case they start killing women left and right. Just because I read a story where siblings sleep together (hello, Game of Thrones?) doesn't mean I want that to happen in real life!
The candidate referred to in the tweet seems to be not so subtly endorsing fandom censorship. You can read her interview at the link above, and it's chilling. She seems indifferent to the nuances of these discussions, ones we've been having for years on tumblr and in reaction to fandom purges.
Fanfiction is censored, corralled and contained when it looks bad for owners, companies, and sites. When advertising interests hesitate to put their ads next to graphic smut, capitalism reacts accordingly. IOS hides things on tumblr mobile because it's about money.
And that's exactly what ao3 was created to avoid. It is user-owned and operated. It is literally -- literally -- an archive of our own.
I support the hell out of ao3, and I always reblog posts encouraging others to do so if possible. We finally have a goddamned "safe space" for any kind of fiction under the sun -- any -- and we're risking it over a candidate who appeals to misinformed, underinformed moralism.
I can't blame new fandom members for getting caught up in it. Especially teenagers. They're still figuring out where they personally draw the line. Of course they're clumsy, and apply that filter to everyone around them. It's human nature.
I encourage every reader and non-reader alike to consider where their opposition to certain topics and stories stems from. Is it personal? Moral? If this story was a book at a library, would you ask the librarian to toss it in the shredder? Or would you simply put it down and walk away?
In the United States, even atheists and non-Christians are still unconsciously performing Christian, moralistic values. We do things for the sake of the "children" that make very little, logical impact on perceived ills. We are all (even me, and I'm Jewish) subject to this line of thinking, even if we reject it.
My opinion at the end of the day is that well-tagged, well-described, age-gated content should be allowed to exist on ao3 with very few, if any, limitations. If you don't like the tags -- great! The system worked! Read something else.
"Don't like, don't read" needs an update. In my mind, I've been calling it "bag it, tag it, don't wag it" which I know is silly, but it covers all the bases. Put your content in the correct category (explicit, etc) tag it correctly (sexual assault, etc) and don't shame others for what they choose to consume.
Anyway. If you're a member of ao3 (donated 10$ or more in the last year) you're eligible to vote in the board elections. I highly encourage you to do so. You can learn more about the discourse at the link above, or at ao3's elections page.

I was really excited about this project, and got immensely disappointed with the release of the UI. The fact it's almost a carbon copy of FlightRising's interface is just so... sad. It basically drains Pawborough of its own identity. I really-really hope you guys will consider changing it, because the original concept is lovely. Here's a few things I'd like to comment on: 1. FR's interface is dated. Currently, they're refactoring the site, and i wouldn't be surprised if their next goal after the refactor would be a UI redesign. And you guys, instead of trying to modernise it and make it your own, are copying a UI from *a decade ago*. 2. Why are you keeping the narrow column format of the site? Most people have a wide-screen monitor nowadays, and it looks bizarre to have such a compressed website. Please consider automatically adapting the site's layout to a user's screen width, sorta like Wolvden/Lioden does. IIRC, they have two columns of content (main stuff in the center & a column with user's data on the left), which stack into one column when you're using a mobile device (aka a narrow screen). But since you're planning to make a mobile version anyway, you should consider making the desktop version of the site wide and, well, desktop-friendly, and then figure out the mobile version as it's own thing. 3. Does the user box in the top right of the site really have to be literally identical to FR, with the same data placed in the same way, and also with the energy bar literally having the same exact segments on it? Especially since you have removed the flight banner, making that user block much less balanced looking. Instead, I think you guys can consider making it much more horizontal and narrow. Assuming the two variables on the right (book and turnip icons) are pet/familiar count and cat count, I feel like they can be dropped completely and moved to the user page. I don't think they need to be displayed at all times on all site's pages.
Image link
Alternatively, you can also use Lioden/Wolvden's approach and make a separate column, and then put all user information and bookmarks in that side column. As a compromise between FR & LD, you can place that user column on the right. Here's a screenshot from google for reference:
Image link
I'd also like to point out the bookmarks box in the column with user data. It's virtually unlimited and you can name your own bookmarks. Introducing this would allow you to largely collapse the left column with site navigation, because you don't use most of those links every day. As a FR player, I would only keep ~13 links in my always-visible bookmarks instead of the 29 available in the left navigation bar. It would be especially nice if I could add emojies into my bookmark names like you can on LD/WD, so it's easier to see what i need right away. As a mini-addition, please work on the navigation column on the left. It's horrible on FR, and it will be horrible on PB if you introduce it. There's gotta be better ways to navigate the site. 4. I hope you reconsider some of the artstyle choices regarding backgrounds and decorations. What got me excited about PB was the absolutely fantastic character art from NPCs to the breed artworks. You seriously couldn't have picked a better artist for this over Amelia B. It has so much personality and immediately elevated PB in my eyes over Lorwolf, which had absolutely soulless art and looked almost traced from photos. But then I was absolutely heartbroken to see you have went with this odd, textured, sketchy style for the backdrops. Why? I'm assuming it's something like anime-style logic, where characters are cell-shaded and flat and backgrounds are painterly, but to pull that off you need a simply spectacular background artist and... i'm sorry, but your artists just don't pull it off. There's color going outside of lines on the opal waterfall background, some "hairy" scratchy lines that don't follow the shape of the object and dang it just looks flat in terms of values. Its not a terrible thing to make the cat pop, but the fact it's literally the opposite of the cats' style just makes it look odd. The obsidian sentry artwork is probably my least favorite out of everything shown by far. the head anatomy is all over the place and the shading is blurry and muddy where it looks like it should have sharp edges. It just seems like you hired a professional to do the breed artwork, and an actual newbie to do some of the items/backgrounds. Addittionally, i noticed that you're planning to introduce player-made familiars/decors, so that would introduce even more style variation into the equation. Please, please consider making the style same-ish for all site assets. It's not bad if the background assets stay low-contast and a bit flat, but at least give them the same linework as the cats in terms of weight, texture, and quality. Perhaps you can use colored lineart in decorations and backgrounds to make it more muted in comparison to the cats. And I see I'm not the only one asking for this, so please don't fall for the sunk cost fallacy and rework the assets you already have, instead of "dooming" your sites for decades of having blurry, sketchy backgrounds. Anyway, all of this is coming from a good place, I promise this wasn't written in bad faith. Im extremely excited and passionate about this project and I really-really hope it succeeds. But please, not only listen to user feedback, but also make changes before it's too late.
Thank you for the feedback. To address a few things I believe were lost in translation that we hadn't made clear, and to address this feedback:
The narrow width of the container actually is a placeholder! We do wish to switch to a wider version, and the demo utilizes an early test build. We do already utilize flexbox, which will adjust to the player's screen size, but it's our intention to make the container limit bigger. On top of that, we are hoping to modernize much of the old interface style while keeping a nostalgic charm, including things such as integration of flexbox as an example. Thank you for pointing this out, as this was something that wasn't made clear, and that we did not think to mention.
The userbox is our design nadir right now, we understand, and we are looking to redesign it immediately. Our idea at this time is to disperse the pixel components among it into the ribbon, place where a graphic was intended to go into the navigation, and leave only the icon and energy bar at the top. Actually, we have design mockups with much similar placement to your mockup! Though we were considering putting money in the ribbon too so as to distance ourselves as much as possible. We will consider the feedback of leaving the components strictly on a user's page, so we will fiddle with this. As well, we will fiddle with information potentially in a column. Thank you for the effort you put in!
Regarding the user navigation, we could potentially make it collapsable, as well as introduce bookmarks for those who prefer it. However, to avoid the inaccessibility of dropdowns, the default state would have to remain uncollapsed. Making the navigation collapsable has actually been discussed previously as a good idea. As of now we are looking into increasing the margin of the list and importing imagery into it for better readability, thinking similar to Marapets and early Neopets, but different. What we enjoy about the navigation is a consistent knowledge and potential memorization of everything on a site that collapsed information does not provide, but perhaps we can design something that will allow for the best of both worlds. We are taking in this feedback to heart. Thank you for sharing what you as a user prefer from your game experience!
We understand your distaste for some of the Kickstarter assets, and should there be a demand we can reconsider the rendering for some of them, such as decor. We do, however, have several artists on the team that can do backgrounds and decor, and we shall work to better instruct style discrepancy. We apologize for the distaste in the assets, and we will improve with both stylistic direction and artistic synergy. The intention for our backgrounds is to bring a storybook feeling, and there is going to be an amount of subjectivity to the judgement of this choice. We apologize that it is not to your taste. Regardless, we appreciate your feedback, will note it for future adaptation of our stylistic direction, and once again apologize for your distaste. To clarify, "user-made" decor and companions will simply be user instruction on the design, while our art and design team is still controlling the final piece.
Thank you for feedback on the user experience, and we promise we have not been writing off these points entirely, but rather wanting to express that we understand and, as stated, want to incorporate this feedback while remaining true to our philosophy. We apologize that our communication was lackluster and will be keeping this as our statement on the matter before updating with our new designs. We will do better to communicate our intentions. We do want to hear what a user will most value from an interface experience! Once again, thank you for taking the time and effort to share this information with us, and thank you for the patience as we learn!
