The Plasticene™ print. Plasticene is a nickname for the Anthropocene based on the amount of plastic found in the fossil record. This printing process layers a polymerized acrylic down in strata, in parallel to how we're entering plastic into the earth's upper strata. #tbt In September of 1988 I left a trail of turtles from Oakland CA to StarCity WV. 100 painted plaster cast turtles were left along the road, in parking lots, scenic attractions and sacred spaces. Written on the bottom of each sculpture was a story: Misanthrope gestures toward the lake. The fog parts and the water seems to boil. Suddenly...turtles, countless turtles burst through the surface. Rising, a towering structure, a living island. Motionless, trapped tight in their shells. Slowly, they sink out of sight. ****** The were also a few of these scattered around PA and NC and one in the sacred cenote at Chichen Itza. #art #artinthelandscape #artinthecity #artistsoninstagram #sculpture #surrealism #welcometotheanthropocene

Greenland is melting, but that's the less bad news. The real bad news is all the methane trapped inside the ice which is believed to be the cause of the Permian-Triassic mass extinction.
