SHE’S BACK! Yesterday was Sylvia’s first say back with the flock since early December when we removed her for isolation due to illness. After several visits to @medicalcenterforbirds with the best doctors, hand-feeding, rest, antibiotics and anti inflammatories she is healthy and happy, grateful to be living her life with her family outdoors again. At Blackberry Creek we value our bird friends’ lives just as much as our dogs, cats, pigs, and cows; and surely Sylvia’s life is just as important to her as ours are to us. Her medical bills totaled around $1500 which was covered by YOU, our amazing donors, though our year-end giving campaign in December. The only reason we knew Sylvia was even sick was that our co-founder @_mother_of_chickens is now able to work full-time at the sanctuary which has meant even better 24/7 care for the animals. She noticed Sylvia was getting dangerously thin, and pulled her for testing. Sylvia has now gone from 1.8lbs to 4.7lbs!
