About me

My name is Sam and/or Mort, I'm 19 years old. I identify as pan + demiromantic-asexual, and my pronouns are he/they/it/xe. I am also polyamorous and have one partner (whom I love very much💛).

I'm aware that people don't Technically have to follow DNI's, but I would still like to state my boundaries. I block freely and often, and will block you if you make me uncomfortable and/or treat people like shit, or for any personal reason that I feel the need to block.

The Circus AU

If no one has written one yet and it really is going to fall to me then I am so sorry since y’all know I can’t do plot, I just do vibes. Anyway, months ago I realized Encanto was like...tailor made for the obligatory circus AU and before the in-laws grabbed me by the throat I started making notes. I will share these notes here:

ALMA - the most subdued but compelling ringmaster known to God

JULIETA - snax

PEPA - ~special~ effects

BRUNO - got fired out of a cannon once and disappeared….jk, creepy fortune teller, Ponders An Orb and has rat friends

FELIX AND AGUSTIN - beep beep make way for the clown car. But not really clowns. Just those two funny guys.

ISABELA - flies through the air with the greatest of ease

DOLORES - ….security

LUISA - stronk

CAMILO - welcome to the hall room of mirrors enjoy your distorted visage

MIRABEL - sells tickets, hype woman, COSTUMING, totally taking over for Alma one day as ringmaster

ANTONIO - Animal Guy (™)

Yes they totally have powers yes they do try and keep them on the downlow yes I will keep the backstory vague because who has time for shoving Undead Candle Abuelo into this narrative, we’re here for shenanigans. Everyone’s three years older than in canon because I said so. Bruno only does like legit visions when he’s up for it, otherwise it’s tarot cards and palm reading and numerology and ~auras.~ Get out of here with that Luigi Board shit too, nobody’s talking to the dead (yet). The circus wagons are bigger on the inside lol.

...and then I DID write a very little bit so here! Behold, the first thing I ever wrote for this fandom:

Dust kicked up by donkey-drawn wagons is the first sign of their arrival, followed by the appearance - as if by magic - of a tent on the outskirts of town. Word spreads in murmurs, then whispers, and finally excited chatter bounces between balconies and plazas and through cafes and churches once the posters go up overnight.

The Amazing Madrigals are visiting, and the people are in for a once-in-a-lifetime treat.

Dolores assures her this is how it goes everywhere they stop, and Mirabel is not inclined to disbelieve her cousin who’d know better than anyone how it all sounds from the outside. She herself has ringside seats to what happens at camp: Papá and Luisa and Tío Félix and now Mariano helping everything put itself together, Abuela supervising, Tía Pepa smiling in the sunshine, her Mamá making a list of provisions they’ll need. 

Mirabel watches it all in short glances between mending costumes, which lately has included adding more to the rainbow of sequins on Isabela’s dress and doing the finishing touches on Antonio’s new vest.

“You’re gonna have to make another one for him soon, he won’t stop growing for a while you know,” Félix tells her with a merry grin. “He’s going to take after his mamá and- zchump!” A sharp gesture, and he holds his hand several inches above his head. “You wait and see!”

She laughs and holds the garment out. “Don’t worry, tío, I made it to be altered, see?” And Mirabel shows him the seams which will hold strong but be easy to add more panels between before peering at him over her glasses. “D’you know for sure Tonito’s gonna get that big?”

Félix wags his finger and clicks his tongue, but the wink gives it away and Mirabel returns the gesture conspiratorially as he departs. She’s left with her work for a time before Abuela approaches with her usual solemn dignity.

“It’s time,” she says, tugging her shawl around her shoulders. “Camilo wants to come with you and Antonio, and Dolores will-”

“Will be there just in case,” Mirabel finishes with a nod and a patient smile, even as she reaches to clasp her grandmother’s hand. “It will be fine, abuela, I know the routine, tío says I’m a natural.”

Abuela’s eyes cloud a little at that, but soon comes a nod of acquiescence. “Very well. Still I ask you to be careful, Mira, these people are… not accustomed to our family.”

“So I’ll tell them all about us.” Pause. “Not all all, of course, but enough to get their interest.”

Cannot stop the interaction though, so I will NOT call this a DNI. More so a 'yeah I don't support this' so don't ask me about it. Bugsnax OC Descriptions

Because I didn’t expand upon them as much as I did, I’ve decided to a seperate post talking about my Bugsnax OC’s here.

So without further ado, here we go!

Rooty Snugglefig (They/Them)

Rooty loves anything color, hence why they became a botanist. Rooty is a calm and gentle soul, they usually just go with the mood of the town. If the towns pissed, they’re pissed, if the towns happy, they’re happy, etc.

Growing up in such a dull and negative environment really put a damper on their mood. When they heard about an exhibition to Snaktooth, they thought they could start a new life that wasn’t as negative as the one they currently lead. While there they took an interest in the Hunnabees that roamed there, as long as they had flowers the bees always came around to play.

Likes: Hunnabees, Wambus

Hates: Truffles

Cobbler Fumblegums (He/Him)

Cobbler is the self proclaimed: Speaker of the Bugsnax. He is super childish, a real prankster, and very obnoxious. Not many of the grumps really understand what goes on his head, and frankly they like to keep it that way.

Truth be told, Cobbler was never meant to come along on the exhibition. He snuck aboard the ship to Snaktooth because he thought he was missing out on an adventure. Though that adventure actually ended up being a death trip. He never went to Camp and instead was dragged away by a bunch of Sprinklepedes. He learned to live amongst them and treated them as the only true family he has.

Hates: Nothing

Truffles Bamblebush (She/Her)

A famed fashion icon lacking any inspiration. She’s stuck up and very picky, especially around what she wears. She always critiques what other Grumps wear as well. The only one she won’t critique will be her best friend, who really is the only one she doesn’t act all stuck up for.

She was already lacking in inspiration When she hears of the exhibition to Snaktooth island, she believed that heading there would give her the surge of inspiration that she needed to help her fashion industry flourish again. Though she has yet to properly explore the island and discover its beauties, she’s truly excited for the adventure...not that she’d let anyone else know.

Likes: Charmallows, Perriwinkle

Hates: Rooty, Bopsicles

Perriwinkle Pebblejam (They/She)

An explorer with a love for the frosty weather, Perriwinkle is a very giving and chipper Grumpus. Always in a happy mood, and never having a problem with the world, her best pal, Truffles, is the one Grumpus who they let her happy persona down for, for they knew that Truffles was easier to communicate that way.

When Perriwinkle had heard about the excursion to Snaktooth, she was the one who filled in Truffles about it and convinced her to come. Thinking that it could help Truffles out, it had also peaked her curiosity, and Perri immediately became curious about what could’ve possibly lurked out there in the frosted peaks that Liz spoke so fondly of.

Loves: Truffles, Scoopy Banoopys, Choxoate Sauce, (Basically Everyone)

Bronica Troubleblog (She/Her)

The 2nd oldest child of Triffany and Wambus, Bronica is no stranger to adventure. Much like the Grumpus she was named after, Bronica went on many excursions to dangerous locations and in pursuit of mysterious figures. Taking after her father, she never settled for Good Enough, but had a kind and caring heart just like her mother.

As a Biologist, she was always studying how life forms worked, and when it came to Snax, that was no exception. However, she was forbidden to come by her father, but still, she wrote to her mother everyday and was sent special samples of her mother and father’s work to experiment. When the crew did return, Bronica immediately went to study underneath the wing of Floofty, who was puzzled to think Wambus and Triffany could produce such a child.

Loves: Wambus, Triffany, Floofty, Peanut Butter, Bungy

Hates: Hunnabees, Praying Picantis

Bungy

(This takes places in a “Bugsnax Pet AU” I’m thinking of)

Bungy is Bronicas loyal pet, and assistant in all her experiments. A welcoming present from Floofty on her first day. Bungy is quite reckless and absent minded as most Bungers are, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t a welcome member of the family, almost welcome anyhow.

Wambus still detests the idea of a Bunger pet, but eventually got used to the sight of Bungy, even if he is still ticked off by him. Bungy is a very welcome pet to the family.

Loves: His family, Ketchup

Hates: Shishkabugs, other Bungers
