what's the greatest gift you've gotten from your writing?

in a general sense, a hobby that i can just enjoy for the sake of enjoying it :) as someone who does art for a living but also for fun it's hard when your wires get crossed between the professional and the personal, so i'm very content and pleased to have writing for writing's sake

in another sense, in terms of literal "gifts" i am almost always floored whenever someone writes, draws, or creates something inspired by my writing. i don't know why, maybe it's because i'm always the one drawing fic art and i don't really expect it to ever go the other way

jaskier is a small flower shop owner. geralt is an accountant or lawyer or whatever profession that gives me an excuse to put him in a suit

he comes in every friday after work to buy yellow roses

jaskier sees the Hot Brooding Asshole Who Barely Speaks Except Into His Phone and immediately starts pining like the bi little idiot he is

he’s also kinda sad cause geralt always orders a heart-shaped card to go with his roses so jaskier ofc assumes he has a wife or girlfriend or whatever

if i were to write this as an actual fic this is the part where i really drag the pining out as filler content lmao

anyways

jaskier is a stupid little fungus brain idiot and thus one day he has an accident where he drops a vase and cuts himself in the arm and has to go to the hospital

he also closes the shop for like a week cause plants are full of bacteria and Dear God Don’t Go Near Them When You Have Stitches In Your Arm Or It Will Infect

the next friday after he’s reopened, he sees geralt again and he’s like “oh hi :D” when the hot business man suddenly starts shouting at him for closing shop

jaskier is not one to easily hide his dislike of someone and geralt soon  realizes he’s Fucked Up

so, one day he clumsily offers jaskier a box of chocolates (though jaskier sells those in the shop as well so if he wanted some he could just take some) and gives a stunted apology

turns out he saw that the shop was closed and saw the blood on the floor and got Real Worried

eventually, they both confess but then jaskier’s like “uhhhh your girlfriend?”

turns out the yellow roses were for geralt’s adoptive daughter ciri

anyways the End :)

i spilled a whole ton of info about 'an au 4 ur au' here! i started talking about 'ivy' here, and i'll tell you how it ends below

geralt breaks it off with jaskier, and it's hard for him, but he knows he's done the right thing. jaskier, on the other hand, has just lost one of his very few pillars of support, and he feels himself falling apart. he starts to think about how much he's changed since he got married, and everything his husband has taken from him. now that he's had a chance to see what a real, loving relationship might be like with geralt, he can't stand the thought of going back to the toxic life he had with his husband.

it's difficult for jaskier to even contemplate leaving his husband. they've been together since jaskier was a teenager, and ever since, the husband has been drilling into jaskier's head that he's weak and helpless - it's hard not to believe him. but being around geralt - someone who loved him for him and treated him like his own person - helps him uncover the strength he had in him all along. then jaskier leaves the mean husband and they live happily ever after!

6. What is your darkest fear about writing?

i think it’s a lot of writer’s darkest fear😭and it’s that no one will read and/or enjoy your work. there is something so devastating in writing something you spent so much time into to find that no one wants to read it. in reality, my only goal in writing is to help at least one person escape into a new and exciting world that will always be there for them when they feel alone or lost in their own lives. to create something that gets people excited and immersed into something you put your entire energy towards is worth every second i spent agonizing that i think i wasn’t good enough a thousand times over.

18. Choose a passage from your writing. Tell me about the backstory of this moment. How you came up with it, how it changed from start to end.

She shook her head, shoving the images in her mind into the door they are normally locked behind. Some days were better than others when it came to grief—the flood could be a tsunami one minute, a puddle the next, but every passing second made it clear that the part of her heart that drowned that day would never come back.

okay ill give quick backstory: my main character here is lana! so far in the story, the readers don’t know much about her past, only that she had two brothers who died saving her. in the moment before this, my other lead, blake calidum, had asked her what she considered home to be. he had thought it would’ve been her brothers, but her first answer was the family that found her half dead in the snow. they have been her family since she was 9—her life before that remains glaringly void of information.

this passage has changed a lot bc i wanted it to be a fluid analogy throughout with water-typed-heteroglossia. LOL idk if it completely works that way, but its what i aimed for.

i came up with it when i was real sad one day could only write a single sentence about how violently fluctuating emotions could be🥲

Any T-shirt and plain jeans (cargo shorts in summer), with a hoodie if it's cold. I'm not picky lol (even though it may seem like it because plain jeans are weirdly hard to find, which is why I now shop for men's jeans. Well, that and the bigger pockets lol).

in the park!! i love the beach but i have so many nice memories walking around parks with friends & family i am one hundred percent biased. all those shitty little parks you go to to wander around and pour your heart out like where would i be without them!!
