Don't think it's made it's made the jump here to Tumblr yet, but I'm absolutely in love with this new niche of horror art on Twitter that's just images of prehistoric creatures stalking around darkened suburban settings. Like nothing will drive home how weird and scary large pterosaurs or dromaeosaurs probably were like seeing one outside your window at sunset. Genuinely one of the only cool things on that hellsite right now.

When I was out running last night I bumped into two raccoons which is common enough. But I knelt down, put out a hand and went "kss kss kss kss" and one came over, stood near me, and started putting his head up to my hand, within inches of petting him.

Then I thought, do I have the rabies vaccine? and chickened out. Tragic but sensible as many things are.

Horror stories on Twitter are the only reason I have ever used Twitter. Like, the only reasons I ever logged on were for EverymanHYBRID, The Sun Vanished, and now there's Archesuchus.

God, like: dinosaurs as horror are cool enough on their own, but Archesuchus is the first (only?) person to really lean into the bird-like aspects of them for horror. I find that so cool.

Tawny Frogmouth (Podargus strigoides)

The Tawny Frogmouth is an unusual-looking bird often mistaken for an owl. During winter, their food supply shrinks drastically, and as a result they often enter torpor, a state similar to hibernation which slows energy conservation by slowing metabolism and heart rate. Torpor is different to hibernation, because it only lasts for typically a few hours, rather than entire seasons.
