Galaxy & Art Tamagotchi Original Shells Sell Out at WEGO 1.3.5… Harajuku Within Hours

This past weekend was the release of two additional Tamagotchi Original shells in Japan, Galaxy and Art (known as Art Style in other countries). The event was a scaled down version compared to the first one where the first 16 shells were released. WEGO 1.3.5… had an impressive display at their stores, and WEGO 1.3.5… was reporting inventory on their Twitter profile.

Well it looks like it only took a few hours for WEGO 1.3.5… Harajuku to sell out of the two new shells! They were sold alongside 6 shells from the original release back in November. Those six shells, Mermaid, Paradise, Lighting, Sakura, Retro Flowers, and Ice Cream. These returning shells did not sell out, and appear to still be in stock at the WEGO 1.3.5… Harajuku store.

Both Galaxy and Art shells were sold out by 9:20PM as WEGO 1.3.5… announced on their Twitter profile. The store closes at 8:00PM so it appears that from opening at 10:30AM the two shells sold out within hours! Clearly the demand is still high for the Tamagotchi Original in Japan, which is also why Bandai Japan announced another 4 shells that will be released in March, 2023!

Tamagotchi Original Sold Out at WEGO 1.3.5… Harajuku Within Hours!

To celebrate the re-launch of the Tamagotchi Original in Japan for the second time, with all-new shells available in other countries Bandai Japan partnered with the popular Japanese retailer WEGO. The Harajuku location featured a beautiful display of Tamagotchi products, and even Mametchi made an appearance! The shelves were filled with all 16 designs of the Tamagotchi Original, and even some 25th anniversary merchandise along with the flagship Tamagotchi Smart.

Bandai Japan was posting inventory updates of the Tamagotchi Original at the WEGO 1.3.5… store on their Twitter profile, and within hours all shells sold out! There was a board at the stores entrance to keep track of remaining inventory.

The store opened at 10:30AM and the inventory was completely sold out by 6:32PM! WEGO did not have enough supply to last until the store closes at 8:00PM. They slowly sold out of each shell and the exclusive stickers they were handing out too.

This does put a damper on the remaining festivities at WEGO 1.3.5… this weekend. The event is set to continue on Saturday, November 26th, 2022 and Sunday, November 27th, 2022. Bandai Japan sent out a tweet to inform followers that not only is the Tamagotchi Original out of stock at WEGO 1.3.5… but there will not be any inventory for the remaining days. However, you can visit the store to see the display and get a picture with Mametchi.

Is anyone else not surprised that the Tamagotchi Original shells have sold out in Japan on launch day? Clearly these are a huge hit globally, and Japan is no exception. Bandai Japan already has new shells queued up for 2023. Don’t call it a comeback, call it a takeover!
