It's Sunday and time for another weekly Thoth reading for the followers of Sagans Sorcery: The Empress and Adjustment:
Tumblr media
𝗔𝗱𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲
This week our attention is being brought to the tides of nature and how our actions, or inactions, create ripples in time. When we are hit with the reaction of an action, or create these reactions ourselves, we are being asked to cancel them out with their opposites to remain in a state of harmony. This is an incredibly venusian reading, as such, cause and effect should be balanced with love and seen for the very truth of what life really is; nature simply taking its course. When we are able to approach life without any interpersonal prejudice but also approach it with great love, truth and poise, we gain the greatest satisfaction of all.

A: Damn, probably I will save all of them. But, if I have to choose, my Egyptian Tarot and the Vampire Tarot.

A: Fortunately, no. I love each one of my decks. 🥰
15. when it comes to looking for new decks, what do you look for? are you looking for anything in particular?
A: Mostly, I'm searching for new oracles focused on specific topics (love, abundance, etc) or Tarot for special occasion, like some type of Holidays (like Halloween, Christmas), another Egyptian Tarot or "Geek Tarot decks" (I'm looking for Disney's tarot decks like "Alice in Wonderland" , "The Nightmare before Christmas", Disney's Villains tarot"...) and of course, "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Stardust Crusaders Tarot".

A: Try to follow the advices from the cards.

A: Mostly, for the meaning, The Devil, The Tower, 7 of Wands, 3 of Swords, 10 of Swords. Those cards are difficult to handle to me.
And about specific tarot/Oracle decks that I don't like the art, are the Egyptian Tarot by the Zokar or Kier editorials. The colors are a kind of annoying to me. (Sorry if I offended to a tarotist that use those decks)

5 Common Tarot Myths: Beginner Witchcraft
Tumblr media
One of the things I see all the time in my Witchcraft groups is questions about Tarot Cards. Do they have to be gifted? How do I use them? What is a Tarot Card? If you are still learning about witchcraft, the amount of tools available can be overwhelming. So I thought it would be a good idea to go over some of the basic misconceptions and myths about Tarot Cards and how to use them.
What is Tarot?
To start things out, lets talk about tarot for a second. Tarot (or Cartomancy) is the act of reading cards to divine an answer to a question. There are many types of reading that can be done as well as types of cards that can be read. Tarot actually started as a card game in the 15th century in various parts of Europe before becoming popular among the occult later in the 18th century.
Tumblr media
Nowadays, tarot is available in many forms and designs and can be read in numerous ways. Some of the most popular deck styles include the Deck of Marseilles, the Rider-Waite deck and the Thoth Deck. Other decks include oracle cards, angel cards and other modern interpretations.
So lets get to busting some myths!
Tarot Myths #1
You Have to be Gifted your Deck
This is probably the most common question I see asked on a weekly basis in the groups I’m in. And I totally get that there’s a lot to learn when you first start out. So lets clear this up and get it out of the way first.
While being friends or family with other practitioners who can help you start your journey would be ideal, that’s not possible for everyone. There was a time that witchcraft was passed down from person to person, student to mentor and with that passage came the gifting of tools.
Tarot cards were part of that. This was a time frame where magic was kept hidden and was only spoken among those who had proven themselves. As a sign of moving onto the next level( this is also a time frame where there were a lot more covens, as opposed to the solitary practitioners we have today), this rite of passage was gifted with your own set of tools, typically owned or created by your mentor.
Now however, it is much more common for a practicing witch to buy their own tools. Hundreds of designs and companies offer a variety of tarot cards that are available to every type of practitioner young and old.
Tarot Myths #2
You have to practice Everyday( or You can only use them for Special Occasions)
Some people feel you have to read the cards every single day. Others feel that you should only use the cards during the Full and New Moons, or only during the Sabbats.
The truth is you can use your cards whenever you feel like it! Not everyone has the energy of patience to do a lengthy multi-card reading every day while others use a daily reading to greet the day.
Find a time that works best for you and your schedule, whether once a day, once a week or once a month. Experiment with different reading styles and use your favorite one. The most common tarot spreads are the one card, three card and seven card draw.
Tumblr media
Personally I use a 3 card draw. I try to read mine every day but there are times where I don’t touch my cards for months. And that’s okay. Your magic and your tools will be there when you are ready. After all, tarot cards are just that, tools, and you don’t actually need them when it comes to magic. They are just ways to extend your own magic in a tangible object.
Tarot Myths #3
You can only use one style of deck
I’ve been referring to all the decks as Tarot so far but there is actually more than one style of card. Tarot cards encompass several styles such as Rider-Waite, Marseilles, and Thoth. There are also Oracle cards, Angel cards, and a variety of other decorative divination cards.
With that variety of styles also comes your snobs and purists. Those who preach you can’t intermingle more than one style or type. That you can’t own more than one deck.
This is not true. Each witch has their own practice and with that, can use as many or as few decks or cards as they want. There are some beautiful decks in both styles. If you want to buy them to use them, that’s great! If you want to use them to decorate your home, that’s also great! It’s your practice, your money and your home, no-one has the right to tell you what to do with it!
Tarot Myths #4
You can only use one deck at a time when reading
This is something I myself am still new to and learning. There are many experienced practitioners out there who blend several decks together while reading. This is such an interesting way to read your cards and should be tried by anyone who wants to try it.
I am still learning my decks which is why I haven’t tried this myself, as I assume many other witches who haven’t tried this yet also are waiting. But it is still such a fascinating way to divine.
I have used more than one deck in a row on questions about the same topics but never in the same reading for a single question. I have worked with my decks( I have 5!) enough to know which ones are good for year round spreads, which are good for open interpretation and which ones are going to sass me on the answers.
Magic and Witchcraft to me always comes back to the same answer. Your Magic is what you make of it. Each person is different so it makes sense that their magic is just as different as they are. So everyone will have their own ways of doing magic.
Tarot Myth #5
You have to memorize each and every single cards meaning before you can read them
This is such crap. There are 52 cards in a Rider-Waite deck alone and each one can have anywhere from 3-12 meanings per card. Plus each card reads differently when paired with other cards.
If you want to learn keywords for each card until you are comfortable with them that’s cool. But don’t think you can’t touch them until you’ve learned everything about them. I have decks I’m still learning how to read just because my reading style has changed over the years.
Don’t feel bad because you have to page through the guide book to get an answer for each cards meaning. There’s nothing wrong with learning. Especially when you do have more than one deck of oracle cards or more than one deck in general. Each deck will have its own meanings based on the creator so its perfectly fine to have to make references when reading them.
If you have the entirety of your cards memorized then I congratulate you! That’s not an easy task and you show an intense dedication to your cards! Great Job!!
Tarot really isn’t all that hard when you get down to it, especially once you’ve busted these common Tarot Myths!
So there you have it. The 5 most common Tarot Myths and why they don’t affect you. What are some things you would like to know more about when it comes to tarot or witchcraft? What’s your favorite deck and why?? How many decks do you own or are you interested in trying Tarot for the first time?

Weekly Reading for December 09-15, 2018
*Take a look here to see a summary of my approach to reading the Thoth tarot
This weeks reading places me (represented by the Ace of Disks) in direct relationship to the Prince of Swords. My energy is one full of potential and the ability to realize material work and success, if I apply myself. Being in conversation with the Prince of Swords suggests that this centers around creative projects and intellectual creation: manifesting material reality requires vision and the action inherent in the Prince.
But Disks and Swords do not always go together, and this is emphasized in the reversed Chariot. Usually a card of action, control, manifestation, and will, this week I am reminded that harnessing the competing energies of the disks and swords is a choice that I must consciously undertake. I am reminded that to get where I am going requires action, and does not just happen. But The Universe, as my card of likely response, suggests that by focusing on the end goal—creation, completion, manifestation—allows for those energies to be harnessed. it is by providing a destination that the horses pulling the chariot can find there way, now is not the time to loose the reins.
The final two cards, the Knight of Swords and Princess of Cups, work together to provide advice to take away from the reading. It is important to live into the fiery creation of the mind, engage in brainstorming and take the mental side-routes because they can lead to new ways of seeing; but while doing so remember to ground this action in soul. Intuition and kindness (to self and others) allow for this period of mental activity to be productive, pointing back toward the Ace of Disks.
The oracle lesson for the week, Regret, asks me not to dwell on the past; but rather to learn from it and move forward. The present project will not be helped if I only attend to the things that went wrong and contributed to where I am now.

The card for this week talks about the pains of growing and changing and moving. The three of wands talks about taking in the vastness of opportunity that is before you, and planning/taking your next voyage to self-discovery. For many of you, this week may be a week of physical travel. You are embarking on a journey that honors your greatest desires and perhaps your greatest fears. The fear in this card is the fear of your greatest potential. It’s time to take that leap of faith. It’s time to commit to that action you’ve been putting off for weeks even months now. It’s time to ACT on the transformation that is before you, with fervor, with virtue, and with zealous. Look at how far you have gotten in the past few months. Even if they haven’t been “beautiful” or “great”, the time that has progressed has brought you to this moment, and for many of you, you are met with new horizons. Honor the exploring aspects of your spirit. Commit to movement, to change, and to moving on from the habits, people, places, things that are not supporting you in your journey to your highest destiny and purpose.  Above all, this card asks us to have hope in the positivity of change.  As an aside, the moment I pulled this card, I heard the song, “I Hate this Part” by the Pussycat Dolls in my head so this is telling me that for many of you, it’s really time to let these things go that are limiting you. And although it sucks and you’re going to hate the process, the end result is well, well worth it.

Back to Basics: Week 2 (16/09/19 - 22/09/19)
What I did this week.
This week I kept it really simple, I still kept up my practice of the LBRP 2x a day and Resh 4x a day, but this week I decided to add one of the most important and often uncultivated skills for the occultist- divination.
I used to perform weekly divinations but fell off the wagon a while ago. I like to keep things simple when I perform divinations for the week because there is no real question needing a specific answer. If divination sparks up another question that is when a more specific reading can take place. This week I opted for the tarot.
Now the spread I used is perhaps the simplest I know, it is a two-card spread. I believe I picked this idea up from Lon Milo DuQuette when he explained it using dice mapped on to tarot cards. I prefer to just use the cards. You separate the major arcana from the minor arcana. You then shuffle as normal and draw one card from the major and one from the minor. The Major arcana describes the overall theme of the week, what the most ruling and intense power is coming into your life or where you should turn your attention. The minor arcana gives you the details, the specifics, the area and sometimes advice.
How I did it.
Now there are many ways to read tarot and I personally believe each deck has its own way. I use the Thoth deck which is perhaps the most perfect expression of the qabalah and astrological energies. I use the cards to tap into the images, the themes and the energies they represent. I get a logical understanding of the cards. On top of this I use my intuition I allow impressions in from outside of normal consciousness. So my readings often start off vague and logical then become more specific the more I tap into intuition.
Before any reading, I perform the Qabalistic cross or the full LBRP. This clears my aura and tunes me into the Angel. I then draw down the white light and channel it into the deck to remove any old impressions. I shuffle the cards as I do this to spread this white light. (This sounds incredibly new-agey for a Thelemite to be saying, but it’s what I do!)
I then invoke. I use the invocation used by the Golden Dawn/Crowley, but you could use any invocation you wanted.
“In the divine name IAO, I invoke thee, thou Great Angel HRU, who art set over the operations of this Secret Wisdom.  Lay thine hand invisibly on these consecrated cards of art, that thereby I may obtain true knowledge of hidden things, to the glory of the ineffable Name.  Amen.“
The next thing I do is something I picked up from Jason Miller from his book “The Sorceror’s Secrets”. I visualise myself walking up a hill approaching the figure of the fool as depicted in the deck I am using. I tell him my question and which spread I am using and I ask that he communicated this information to the other cards and works alongside HRU during the reading. The idea is that the tarot cards are living entities, they represent real energies and forces, each card has a genii or being attached to it. The fool comes before all and is beyond all. He is essentially the entire deck. By communicating with the fool you communicate with the deck. I then visualise him jumping from the cliff and descending through the cards- but that is my added touch. (Again, not typical ritual magic, but I have found it grants better results!)
I then shuffle again with the question in my mind and stop when I feel it is time. I let my intuition guide me on this part.
My Results.
This week the major arcana card I picked was “Atu VIII- Adjustment.”
The minor arcana card was the 8 of disks “Prudence.”
This is the excerpt I wrote in my diary concerning the interpretation of the cards:
“I read this as the overall need for balance in my life. I have lost a lot of discipline and have no structure or order. It is chaotic and is effecting my spiritual, mental and physical health. This reading indicates that this will change or ought to change this week and that I must act. I should also perform these changes slowly, build them up carefully ensuring to not attempt to overturn the chaos all at once, instead I should focus on the larger picture. Rome was not built in a day and you cannot train a dog in an hour. I should focus on the bigger picture instead of my little worries and insecurities and every minute detail. My intuition tells me that these cards are really pointing towards my health and my diet rather than any other aspect of my life. I should not attempt to take on a crash diet, instead, I should attempt to make smaller healthy changes and form healthier habits over time. “
This week I have been walking at least once a day, I have been drinking more water, and I have cooked more from scratch. I have not really felt like this has been hard work, in fact I have enjoyed it. I will continue to work up this way.

Tarot Cards, Divination through Randomisation- Research
Tarot cards are a set of 14 to 22 and even 56 unique and individual cards originally used for games but later elaborated into a form of divination by the occult of France through cartomancy. Through selecting the cards from the deck, the dealer can supposedly read your fortune and future depending on what cards were pulled and in which order. The cards are sometimes referred to as arcana, with some being referred to as minor or major, those with suits, (Queen, King, Jack and knight,) being minor with those without a suit being major.
The cards, (specifically those used by the occult for readings,) are decorated with visual and physic illustrations, depictions of the cards name, such as the High Prissiest or the Emperor and Wheel of Fortune. The game was never originally made with the intent of fate, with changes being made by those who believed the cards had greater meaning, with such facts as the original suits, Batons, Coins, cups and swords having coins changed to disks and batons to wands, with the 3 most popular divination tarot decks being that of Marseilles, Rider-Waite-Smith and Thoth.
I wanted to look at tarot cards as they are a form of randomisation that we are currently working on found not in games but the real world that has an interesting idea behind it that can only be found in a mystics belief.
I was first introduced to Tarot through Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, where it’s 3rd part, Stardust Crusaders, has the cast traveling to Egypt to defeat a curse, where all the enemies have abilities called stands that are named after the tarot, with the last batch of enemies taking on the names of Egyptian God’s, the birthplace where people site the tarots original mystical existence, even if no proof supposedly exists to such claims, but rather site it to Italy. The characters took on names such as Star Platinum, after the star tarot, and Hermit Purple, after the hermit tarot. later, in the second half of the story, a character even appears, Boingo, named after band Oingo Boingo, who has the stand Thoth, named after the Egyptian god that a tarot deck is named after, with it appearing as a book, what was sometimes what the deck was referred to by English Occultist Aleister Crowley.

It's Sunday and time for another weekly Thoth reading for the followers of Sagans Sorcery:
Knight of Cups and The Fool
Tumblr media
𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗽 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁
This week we are being asked to take a leap of faith. We wish to follow our hearts but we don't know what will happen when we pursue it. Taking a chance with our feelings often feels almost mad, yet, we wish to do so anyway. When our feelings overtake us and we follow them to our glory, or to our detriment, is all a part of the journey. It is unknown whether the pursuit of this will land us on our feet and begin a whole new adventure, or if it will land us on our heads, whatever the case this is an initiatory experience nonetheless. Whatever this leap of faith represents to you, whether it's the pursuit of romance or of a deeply felt passion or spiritual experience, the result of finding out where it leads may very well begin an entirely new phase in your life or spiritual journey, regardless of the results.

MIKO’S WEEKLY TAROT READING: OCTOBER 29-NOVEMBER 4, 2018.
Tumblr media
THE AEON AND 8 OF WANDS, SWIFTNESS
As we travel along in Scorpio season, I can feel the heavy energy around me. We are diving into deep issues and bringing what was once in the dark to the surface.
We may be dealing with unresolved feelings or parts of ourselves that we have ignored. We may be grieving some losses or letting go of things that no longer serve us.
We are connected to the veil between our world and the next that thins around this time of year. We know that things need to move on for the next phase of our life to begin.
Scorpios are traditionally thought of as people who love to dig up dark issues or brood in the shadows. However, I see them as light bearers, here to bring things out of the dark and into the light.
They go to the hidden places so that we can heal and have more positivity. They do not like to ignore things or sweep them under the rug, but instead face them head-on in order to bring more peace.
So when you are feeling heavy in this season, remember you are in dark in order to bring more things to the light. By dealing with discomfort now you will have much more joy later on.
The Aeon is the perfect card to pull during this time. It is all about healing unresolved issues and connecting to our past pains.
The Aeon card is also referred to as Judgement, Atonement, or Resurrection. The Thoth deck shows the goddess Nuit, a primal sky goddess’ arched body over our heads representing immortality.
A transparent child figure stands inside the arch and a ruler figure is behind him. Both figures represent the Egyptian God Horus, first as a child and then as a leader. Horus is seen as a God of redemption because he killed the God that murdered his father.
The Aeon card points to the ever present child and adult energy that lives inside all of us. It calls us to heal our inner child. This healing is so important in order to be in our healthy adult state. We must love, forgive, and stand up for our inner youth to feel connected and powerful now.
In order to believe we are deserving of the life we want we must heal our old wounds. So this week take some time to ask yourself: what hurt you when you were young? How can you confront, grieve, and mend those wounds? How can you love yourself in the ways that you always needed?
This work will be challenging and maybe a little painful, but I promise you it will be worth it. This will lead to your best life. This will lead to your inner wealth.
When I pull this card, I usually say that it is not something that can be done in a week. But this process can start now, maybe through journaling, maybe through counseling or maybe through conversations with your family.
However, since our next card is the 8 of Wands or Swiftness, we will experience a rapid amount of growth in a short amount of time. This card will bring its powers of clearing and quickness to allow this growth to occur.
You will feel yourself opening up at a faster pace. You will also notice that obstacles to this healing will be removed quicker. You might even meet someone or read something this week that brings a sudden clarity.
Whatever ways the 8 of Wands aids your healing it will be positive. You will have the support of the cards and cosmos as you do some deep work. I will also send you some light and love on your way.
Mantra of the week: I open myself to heal old wounds and love the parts that need it the most. There are no blocks around me as I quickly feel whole.

Weekly reading for November 25–December 01, 2018
*Take a look here to see a summary of my approach to reading the Thoth tarot.
This week’s reading places the 3 of cup—a card of emotional fulfillment & joy—in the position of self, positioned with the theme of a reversed 4 of cups (a card which points to emotional stability & comfort). The name of the 3 of cups, “Abundance”, points to the root of what I feel the meaning behind this relationship is. While traditional interpretations focus on the joyful aspects of this card, of which there are many, in this case I see it speaking to an abundance of emotions, both joyful and sorrowful. These two cards suggest that it is important to allow these emotions to be processed this week, or risk moving into a situation where things become stagnant & unproductive.
The week takes an interesting turn in this context, with The Tower showing a sudden and jarring shift, located in the emotional realm (given the preceding double cups). The Tower is a card of inevitability, illuminating the ruins of what we have built as a point that can be the beginning of growth or, alternatively, a place we stay and continue to mourn. Regardless, the possibility for growth and renewal is only present if we move beyond The Tower, seeing it as a reference point instead of a home.
The reading then reveals The Fool, next to a reversed Star. This suggests that the freedom and possibility of The Fool can serve this situation well, and that the hope of the Star should still be found and followed. Yet it also warns against the naïveté of The Fool, reminding me that false hope and illusion lead back to The Tower.
The final thought the spread reveals is found in the 7 of wands. This card speaks to a situation of creative and spiritual turmoil, although not necessarily in a bad way. The environment revealed by the card is one that has the possibility of being truly rewarding and fruitful, but only if we honor the lessons we have learned and the resources we have. The reversed nature of the card suggests a need to be aware of & speak back to self-doubt. Further, by capping the reading, the suit of Wands urges me to find multiple ways of processing an emotional situations; suggesting that staying—purely—within the realm of the Cups risks amplifying those voices which might hinder my growth.
The oracle this week, Courage, reminds me of my soul’s strength and ability to persevere. It councils me to remember that I am able to act in situations, and that fear is simply another moment of experience; not a force that should define my interactions.
