Weedkit Found in the territory by Lightclaw, as she clung to her deceased mother's belly. She is brought to camp by Lightclaw and adopted by her. She's initially weak, but begins to play with Copperkit and Brindlekit. Lightclaw is the only mother she remembers, and she is a happy kit.

[Image ID: Weedfoot sits under the title of today's lore post: "Name Deep Dive: Weedfoot"]
MY GIRRRRRRLLLLLL! Ngl I love her more than Downstar. Now let's explore her name!
Prefix: "Weed"
So what sort of connotations does "Weed" apply to a kit? Like so many names, there are positive and negative connotations, but let's begin with what exactly the Clans think of weeds. The average warrior couldn't care less if there were more dandelions about. Clerics and caretakers, meanwhile, recognize that weeds can choke out other plants in their pervasiveness. These weeds can be quite useful, but can take over a patch of land if caretakers are not careful. Some of the plants the Clans see as weeds include dandelion, mint, bindweed, thistles, and clovers.
Naming your child Weedkit encourages speedy growth and a vibrant, strong life. Weeds are hard to kill and always come back. Weedkit can be a popular name when a couple has had trouble with kitting or when they tend to lose their kits before they reach apprenticeship. Weedkit is also popular in single litters, such as the one Weedkit came from.
Thanks to the communal culture of the Clans, "Weed" can also suggest a toxic presence in the Clan, one that could overwhelm them. These cats could put their own safety and security over that of the Clan. Autumnstar used this naming connotation to discuss Weedfoot when she was part of the Ashes in the Water.
Suffix: "-foot"
There are a few reasons a leader may give someone this suffix. Its traditional use marks a quick-footed and fast cat. This speed can be translated into being a great runner, a swift pouncer, or a whirling fighter whom no one can land a hit on. This speed can also be mental, however. If a cat is quick to figure things out, they may be well-suited to "-foot".
"-foot" can also be a grounding suffix. Being sure-footed is a good trait in the Clans. By naming someone "-foot", a leader is calling them out for a grounded and sturdy presence within the Clan. On rare occasions, the suffix calls out a uniquely patterned or injured paw. Parsley would have been a great pick for the name Parsleyfoot thanks to her one white paw.
Full Name: Weedfoot
Weedfoot's name better fits the grounding aspect of her suffix than anything else. However, the combination of her prefix and suffix creates a name that immediately inspires images of a swift and unstoppable rise to power. The growth of a weed combined with the suffix's quick connotations suggests that Weedfoot is destined to achieve whatever she sets her mind to, leaving a deep impact wherever she chooses to "grow". Perhaps this is why Autumnstar was so scared of her...

Shout out to my ClanGen main character challenger Weedspeckle, who stole a kit as a medicine cat, named it Weedkit, declared it to be his apprentice, and gave it the adult name “weedecho”
Imagine getting forcibly adopted by a David and on your birth certificate your dad crossed out your name and wrote DavidAgain.

Lavenderclan, Year 7, p.1
The clan once again begins the warmer season with tragedy. While returning from a patrol, Russetleaf finds the Weedkit has escaped out of camp, and paid the ultimate price, having been fatally injured. He feels stricken with grief at the discovery, having spent a lot of time with Weedkit and their adoptive mother while his own kits were in the nursery. He picks up the kit to return them to camp. As he entered the camp, a panicked Lightclaw's eyes initially light up with hope, as she sees her friend returning with her kit. However, tears quickly fall from her eyes, as she sees her kit's fur tinted red and unmoving. She yowls her horror, and she grieves together with Russetleaf and his kits.
While supporting his sister through her loss, Ivytail also finds his relationship with Cheetahlilac has deepened into love. She feels the same way about him, and the two make things official before all the snow is fully melted.
Cheetahlilac continues to watch the relationship between her mate and his one sister deteriorate, and watches as Embertail continues to abuse her power as Deputy to overwork Ivytail, exhausting him. She brings her concerns to Elmstar, both the clan leader and father of the two feuding cats. She pleads for Elmstar to intervene on Ivytail's behalf, and the leader agrees. Elmstar speaks to their daughter about her treatment of her brother, scolding her for abusing her power this way. She's unhappy about being called out, but agrees to modify her behavior. Unknown to her father, she was merely saying this to appease him, and had no intentions of stopping. She continued her behavior, but became more secretive about it. Sending him out less often, but at inconvenient times, like when he is about to eat, or when she can see him trying to relax with Cheetahlilac. In the meantime, Copperkit and Brindlekit become apprentices. Copperpaw has grown to be a noble and kind young tom, and is appreticed to Embertail. He doesn't get along with her well, aware of what the clan leaves unspoken about her treatment of her brother. He doesn't respect her, and finds her selfish. Brindlepaw is apprenticed to Elmstar. Brindlepaw has become quite confident, and appreciates Elmstar's quiet demeanor, often talking the clan leader's ear off.
The clan heads into the Greenleaf season, with much more to come...

Moons 1-3 (Cliffpaw is born)
Welcome to the first post of (Hopefully) many in this series. For now, I will be focusing mainly on Cliffkit/paw, but a new main character will be chosen each time the previous one dies or becomes an elder (Or if they just stop being interesting).
Story below the cut. Each section has a pic of one of the associated cats included
“Let all cats old enough to walk beneath the leaves gather around the speaking stone for a clan meeting!” Oatstar’s voice rang out across the camp, and Cliffkit scrambled up to peer out of the nursery.
Behind her, Weedkit grumbled, “You’re not old ‘nuff.”
“Well, I’m bored.” She flicked her tail at Weedkit and stood in the entrance, looking out as the clan came together below Oatstar.
As she watched, Foxheather was called up, then Dropletpaw.
Is this a warrior ceremony?
“Weedkit! Weedkit, you’ve gotta come watch! I think Dropletpaw is gonna get their warrior name!”
Weedkit grumbled again, then rolled over in her nest and came to stand beside Cliffkit.
Finally, Oatstar called out Dropletpaw’s new name- Dropletbright- and the clan followed suit.
Cliffkit jumped forward, yowling it out as well, and after a moment, Weedkit joined in.
“Dropletbright! Dropletbright!”
◦◦,`°.✽✦✽.◦.✽✦✽.°`,◦◦
Cliffkit blinked awake as someone came into the nursery, wondering who was waking her and Weedkit up so early. She cracked one eye open, spotting Dropletbright sitting beside the entrance.
“Good morning.”
It was still dark out. “‘S too early.”
Dropletbright snorted. “You’re such a dormouse. Anyway, I had to go out on early patrol with Antmoon and Foxheather. I brought you a gift.”
Cliffkit wrinkled her nose, lifting her head slightly to get a better look at Dropletbright, who picked something up off the ground. “What’s that?”
Dropletbright dropped it in front of her. “It’s a thrush- you said before that you liked them.”
“Oh- thank you!” She stretched, then went to sniff at the small bird. “Thank you.”
◦◦,`°.✽✦✽.◦.✽✦✽.°`,◦◦
Finally, her and Weedkit’s apprentice ceremonies were about to start! She bolted out of the nursery, almost taking Dropletbright’s paws out from under them in her haste to get to the speaking stone.
Weedkit was at her side a few moments later, staring up excitedly at Oatstar. “I can’t believe we’re finally gonna be apprentices!”
She nodded, standing on her tail to keep it from twitching about. “I wonder who my mentor will be?”
“Cliffkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Cliffpaw. Your mentor will be Antmoon. I hope Antmoon will pass down all she knows on to you.”
She nearly leapt in the air from joy. Her mentor was the deputy! Surely that meant she was special, somehow. Maybe she’d even get a starclan dream, like she’d heard Oatstar and Sunnychirp, the medicine cat, talking about a few days before.
Cliffpaw tuned back in just in time for Antmoon to approach her to touch noses.
◦◦,`°.✽✦✽.◦.✽✦✽.°`,◦◦
“This is so exciting! My first ever patrol!” Weedpaw darted forward to sniff at the trees outside of camp. “Where are we gonna go first?”
Frozenheart shrugged and glanced at Antmoon, who meowed, “I think we should go over towards the border- just to give you two an idea of the territory.”
Cliffpaw perked her ears up at that- would they get to see any cats from the other clans? She’d never seen any of them before, and she desperately wanted to know what they were like.
Weedpaw kept a steady stream of excited chatter up as they walked, and Cliffpaw had to wonder if she’d scare away all the prey when they started learning how to hunt. She hoped that Frozenheart would eventually teach her to be quiet.
Antmoon stopped abruptly, and Cliffpaw almost ran into her. “What?”
Antmoon shushed her with a tail tip to the mouth, and Frozenheart did the same to Weedpaw. “I smell something strange- here- see what you can smell.”
Hesitantly, Cliffpaw opened her mouth to taste the air, then wrinkled her nose at the sharp scent she caught. “What’s that?”
Antmoon was silent for a moment. “I’m not sure. Follow me.”
She led the patrol into a thicket, then stopped just outside of an opening in the ground. The scent was stronger there, and after a moment of uncomfortable silence, Cliffpaw poked her head inside.
“Don’t-”
Antmoon’s warning came too late, as she was already face to face with a strange, black and white creature.
Cliffpaw yowled in surprise and spun to bolt, only barely avoiding the creature’s massive claws. She heard the rest of the patrol behind her as she dove through the thicket, mindless to the small scratches from the thorns.
She ran at full speed back to camp and screeched to a halt below the speaking stone. The rest of her patrol appeared through the camp entrance a minute or so later, and she sighed after seeing them all safe.
“What- what was that?”
Antmoon sighed. “That was a badger. Are you okay?”
She nodded.
“Good. Next time, be careful about poking around in unfamiliar dens, okay?”
She nodded again, and Antmoon bumped against her shoulder gently. “It’s okay- I definitely had a few close calls as an apprentice as well.”
