Today would have been my grandmother's birthday, and although she is no longer with us, I was thinking about her today. Her favorite movie stars were Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy, so I thought I'd feature one of Jeanette's costumes, even though it's from her pre-Nelson Eddy days. (My grandmother was very straitlaced, so I have trouble believing she would have liked Jeanette MacDonald so much if she knew that J.M. was once called the "lingerie queen of the talkies"!)

This gown was designed by Travis Banton. It was bought at auction several years ago by a collector, who restored it and reunited it with the train and crown in 2019.
