A Splash of Elegance: Tanzanite Wedding Bands We Love
If you’re the type of bride who’s searching for gemstones that are vibrant, affordable, and rare tanzanite is the ideal choice. This rare gem is December’s birthstone and also a celebrated choice for 24th wedding anniversaries.
Since tanzanite wedding bands in Chicago, IL are so affordable, they allowcouples to save money and keep within their budget. This is great for couples looking to spend the money on other important things like a house.
Reasons to choose Tanzanite rings
Tanzanite’s appeal lies in its enchanting “fire” and striking color range, from deep blue to vivid violet. This unique gem is often more affordable at smaller sizes compared to sapphires and diamonds, yet it retains a distinctive brilliance.
However, tanzanite wedding bands in Orland Park, IL are softer, with a Mohs rating of 6.5 to 7. So, they require extra care to prevent scratches, especially while traveling. Larger tanzanite stones can still be costly, especially when they exhibit deep, even color and are free of inclusions.
To ensure quality, examine your tanzanite diamonds in Chicago, IL closely for inclusions, color consistency, and any chips. You can even turn the stone upside down on a white paper to check for uniform color.
For cleaning, a gentle soap-and-water wash is recommended, avoiding brushes to prevent scratches. You can also take your stone for a professional cleaning every couple of months to a professional.
When traveling, store your tanzanite ring in a plastic bag inside a protective jewelry pouch to avoid damage. You can also choose to keep it in a velvet-lined case away from other pieces.
Final Verdict
If cared for properly and looked after, you can even pass down your tanzanite ring to future generations as an heirloom piece for years to come.

Metro
3730 N Clark St, Chicago, IL 60613
The Metro stage is a lot of things to a lot of people—a big break, a headliner’s dream, and even a wedding altar—but no matter what transpires under the nearly hundred-year-old roof, one thing remains the sole focus—the music.
Joe Shanahan began his journey in artistic propriety as a Columbia College graduate with a keen ear for the underground music shaking Chicago’s musical core. Shanahan spent his post-collegiate years trekking to New York and London to experience the happenings redefining the global arts community. He returned with an “act local, think global” business philosophy and an urge to fill the void in his home city’s art scene. Shanahan began throwing fringe gatherings in his loft, but soon the crowds, and his ambition, grew too large for the space.
It seems appropriate that a venue that’s blazed its own trail began with a band doing just the same. R.E.M., the off-kilter Georgians shaking garages and dorm rooms across the country, landed at Metro for a last-minute slot in Metro’s “big room.” With a five-dollar ticket and an enthusiastic crowd, Shanahan was left with enough cash to treat the staff to a round of pizza at the end of the night. He called Metro’s pilot show a resounding victory.
While the benchmark for success has changed over the years at Metro, the ideology has remained stalwart. Cross platforms; break boundaries; and pool talent from the local, regional and national levels. Local H took the stage with Nirvana’s groundbreaking set still settling into the stage’s grooves. Elliott Smith’s Chicago swan song rang through the building in the same month as Sleater-Kinney’s fiery feminist punk.
Metro isn’t in the business of simply buying talent, though—breeding the acts gracing the stage is engrained in the venue’s artistic credo. Year in and year out for over three decades, the Metro roster has maintained a delicate balance between national headliners and local up-and-comers. With every musical movement that has swept across Chicago—and the country—Metro has booked the key players on all platforms. From Joe Shanahan’s early championing of alt-rock pioneers Smashing Pumpkins to ushering in pop-punk royalty Alkaline Trio and Fall Out Boy and even Chance the Rapper’s recent meteoric rise to fame – countless Chicago artists have laid their roots in Metro as a business, sanctuary, and springboard.
The future is a straight line for most, but for Metro it’s a vast landscape—it’s a sprawl that continues to grow with every blink. One thing that is certain is that Metro will continue to serve as an artistic refuge that transcends the bricks and mortar of nightclub and rock venue—it’s an experience, an unforgettable one at that.

Laetitia Sadier- Rooting For Love (Drag City)
The album begins with “Who + What,” an eerie, moody keyboard-driven melody that builds with layers and layers of instruments and vocals. “I need to I want to I have to; Need to expand, want to expand; Embrace my Goddess; Escape the fortress; The walls are falling down, cultures are communing; Muses are converging; On the verge.” Track 2, ”Proteiformunite,” is the first of many French songs on this album. This time the bass gets the spotlight. Laetitia’s soft vocals take the listener away to another world. And then the band kicks in with a full-out jam! Next up, “Une Autre Attente," is another French track. Eerie keyboards and robotic piano are highlighted here, but the beautiful vocals truly add to this one. Check out the video:
youtube
Track 4, “The Dash,” is a soft, gentle, jazzy number complete with “Ba dee dup, Ba dee dup” Bossa Nova vocals. “Through the center; The discreet shine of your darkness; Eyes of children the heart of another; Things we fear are false; A current life; The place inside; Into the night slowly; Swells vitality.” Next, “Don’t Forget You’re Mine” has a stripped-down beginning, but eventually the music soars and swells with beats and strings. “Hey, don't scream with rage it’s vain. I’m not impressed, just exasperated again. A good slap is what you need; a good slap is what you want; take that take that, get up get up babe.” Track 6, “Panser L’inacceptable,” is another beauty of a song. It has a tropical feel to it. Love the horns here. Here’s the video:
youtube
Track 7, “The Inner Smile,” is possibly my favorite track with shifting flutes and a major jam near the end. It’s the most upbeat song on the album. “Smile at all parts of your being. Smile at the parts you’re aware of and those you’re not. Smile, smile and thank your whole body.” Next up, “La Nageuse Nue,” is a French-titled song with English lyrics this time. Laetitia gets deep with her poetry. “The dissolution beliefs; The singular world; Volunteers the ego. Social body, For a cleansing and healing, Experience. Which may turn the personality inside and out; Discloses the gold hidden within the heart.” Track 9,“ New Moon,” develops into a hypnotic blast of ambient sound. It actually came out way back in 2021. It’s one of those songs you just don’t want to end. A beautiful video directed by Laetitia and Tanya Small captures the song here:
youtube
The album closes with “Cloud 6,” a repetitive outer space choral vocal exercise complete with blasting horns. “You have a power I haven't got. I have a power you don’t have. We need all the power we can get. Our psyches, well-being, brutalised, The world renounces its liberty because it is in fear. Because it is in fear, because it is in fear.” More deep thoughts from Laetitia as we would expect. Another great one from Stereolab’s Laetitia Sadier from start to finish. Make sure to check the tour schedule beginning in March to see if she’ll be hitting your part of the world. ERIC EGGLESON

The Umbrellas' self-titled 2021 debut album was a breakout moment in an otherwise grim year, winning critical praise and fueling tours with everyone from labelmates Papercuts to Fucked Up. Follow-up LP Fairweather Friend goes a step further – balancing the rambunctious sonic attack of their live shows with studio craft and finesse, allowing the San Francisco four-piece to become the band they’ve always aspired to be. It's a record overflowing with highlights. The addictive, upbeat melodies of introductory track ‘Three Cheers!’ are matched to an impactful percussive punch; ‘Say What You Mean’ finds The Umbrellas working with total confidence, letting the song ride out to its chiming conclusion, four voices working in precision. ‘When You Find Out’ offers rotating notes of guitar punctuated by a vocal that pushes past angst to accept a world full of hope. A lean 10 track affair, it grasps towards beatific pop while fuelled by a sense of risk-taking and the precision that comes from long months on the road. The Umbrellas coalesced in 2018 around a group of musicians with connections to the legendary San Francisco record emporium Amoeba Music. Singer and guitarist Matt Ferrera had previous links with bassist Nick Oka, as well as the powerhouse drummer Keith Frerichs. A chance encounter with Morgan Stanley singing karaoke at a Fourth of July party cemented the line-up around an avowed thirst for melody. “All of us love really earnest pop songs,” Nick points out. “I guess we got to a point in our lives where we wanted to be genuine.” Playing shows at San Francisco’s vital DIY redoubt Hit Gallery, The Umbrellas would share line-ups with local heroes such as April Magazine and Cindy. Recording their debut album across a two-day spell at Matt’s parents’ house, the results won a devoted cult following. The experience of frequent touring bonded them tightly and allowed the volume to tick up a little higher (and higher...) and and feeding a desire for their next record to more closely mirror the energy of their live shows. “I think we got tired of people saying, oh you’re so much louder than I thought you’d be!” laughs Matt. “Our early recordings are sweet and earnest… and we wanted it to be louder.” Kicking off sessions in November 2022, the band used an ad hoc space Matt created in his basement, which allowed the sessions to be a little more relaxed in terms of timescale than their debut. “We gave ourselves more space for this album,” says Keith. “We wanted time to sit on the songs, and really work on them.” Capturing their thrilling live dynamic on tape, The Umbrellas are at once more physical and yet also more controlled on their new album. Take opening track ‘Three Cheers!’ – the peppy, sun-soaked rush masks a barbed lyric, courtesy of Nick Oka. “It’s a pseudo-political song about power struggles that occur in a job situation, or a friend group. It’s an observational song.” ‘Toe The Line’ has an unkempt, rollicking sense of energy, the playful relationship analogy of the lyric pushed to the speed of light by Keith’s just-chaotic-enough punk drumming. ‘When You Find Out’ meanwhile epitomises their unified, egalitarian way of making music – with The Umbrellas, each voice counts. “It sounds different from any song we’ve ever written together,” says Morgan. “It shows how much we’ve grown. Trust helps us to build the songs. It’s definitely a team effort.” It's also a record of ambition. ‘Say What You Mean’ stretches past the four-minute mark, the viola performance informed by Estonian minimalist composer Arvo Pärt. ‘Gone’ was the first song attempted for the new album, and the last they actually finished, endless re-writes transforming it into a manifesto of control and release. Taken as a whole Fairweather Friend is a bold indiepop triumph, crafted with purpose and attention. Taking their time over each note, the four-piece have strengthened their songwriting, adding depth and assurance while unlocking their potential. Some bonds last a lifetime – The Umbrellas are ready to capture your heart. Read the full article

Los Angeles, CA -- Jessica Pratt will be releasing her new album Here In The Pitch on May 3 via Mexican Summer. Earlier this week, she released the second single titled "World On A String," along with a music video directed by Kate Bollinger. The soft track spans just about 3 minutes long and its vintage pop sheen will have you in a sun-filled daze. From Pratt's lower register to the glittery hooks, "World On A String" is filled with possibilities and a child-like wonder for life. There's a hypnotic lull to the track that'll have you in mesmerized sway.
“On this track I was influenced by the swaying, naive brilliance of 'lost' teenage garage rock bands, as well as enduring loves like The Nazz and Guided By Voices,” Pratt says. "Record the song moments after you've learned it on an instrument you've just picked up. Oftentimes, that's all you need.”

It was in those early moments that she developed an unshakable admiration for Taylor's unparalleled songwriting prowess and storytelling abilities.
Over the years, Samantha honed her craft, performing many of her favorite Taylor Swift songs in coffee houses, enchanting audiences at weddings, and delivering unforgettable musical moments at special events. Her passion for Taylor Swift's music led her to new horizons, culminating in her role as the lead vocalist of the professional country band, Summer Son. There, she further refined her artistry and stage presence, readying herself for the tribute act that would truly pay homage to one of the greatest catalogs and talents in modern music.

Planning a Great Gatsby Wedding in Chicago, IL.
It is also impossible not notice an allusion to the eternal charm of the 1920s, particularly in its pulsating urban area – Chicago. The Illinois gem provides an ideal setting for a “Great Gatsby”-style wedding replete with the ambiance of that decade. Selecting the Venue A perfect setting for such a Gatsby-themed event will be a place like that. A trip down memory lane, for instance, visiting landmarks such as the Palmer House Hilton, one of a kind hotel with crystal ballrooms adorned with intricate details, which depict rich history, luxury, and opulence, that one imagines would be the scene in Fashioning the Era Dressing up the bridal party in the iconic style of the Jazz Age. Go with flapper-style dresses adorned with tassels, feathers and sparkly beads for an injection of twenties glamour. Dapper tuxedos with classic bow ties and suspender also add spice to grooms and groomsmen making them look like debonairs of the world. Finish up by adding art deco-inspired jewellery and head pieces for a touch of vintage feel to this look. Luxurious Decor and Details Add exquisite embellishments to the décor reflecting this opulence of the olden days, such as jazz. Lavish flowery pieces, glittered candlesticks and gilt plate settings accentuate elegancy. The usage of gold, black and ivory as a color palette and an art deco pattern and design makes it more genuine. Jazzy Entertainment Lively entertainment evocative of the 1920’s completes no Gatsby-inspired celebration at all. Hire a swing band or a jazzy orchestrate to sing songs that embodies the zeal of the period. Create an atmosphere where other guests will be encouraged to join the dance floor for their part of the Jazz Age. Impress your visitors with an old-fashioned speakeasy cocktail bar offering the likes of mint julep and sidecar in the spirit of prohibition. Having a Gatsby’s inspired wedding dress in downtown Chicago will bring back the glamor and romance of the 20’s era, creating memories that will last forever for you and your guests. You can make this timeless era come alive by embracing the glitter in this era and having a lavish yet classic party.

Being Dead- EELS (Bayonet Records)
Austin’s Being Dead are back at it again with 16 songs that cover the gammit in under 40 minutes. Best friends Falcon Bitch (Juli Keller) and Shmoofy (Cody Dosier) are joined by Nicole Roman-Johnston on bass when touring. EELS was produced, recorded, and mixed by John Congleton along with additional production help from Shmoofy and Falcon Bitch. The album was mastered by Heba Kadry. “Godzilla Rises” kicks things off with blasting guitars, rockin’ rhythm section, and swirling harmonies. Up next, “Van Goes” is a quirky, bouncy number on speed. This would be a good one to hear live. Here’s the video:

”Blanket of my Bone” begins with a “So You Wanna Be A Rock And Roll Star” riff, but it ends there with those soaring vocals. “Problems” slows things down a bit with a beautiful flute and then a gorgeous melody with harmonies. “Firefighters” is a mash-up of X and The B-52’s with its blast of fuzzy guitars and soaring vocals. Watch here:

“Dragons II” is a short acoustic track mostly sung by Shmoofy, “I’m not Prince Charming in a Cinderella tale, There’s no sisters to fight off, There’s no pumpkin to ride on, There’s no slipper to wear.” “Nightvision” starts off as a soft, acoustic number with “ahhing” vocals, but then the rest of the band joins in with, “From the sea came troubled people pacing, they’re pacing about, Nervously complaining and turning around, Glad I am awake now, ahh ahh.” “Storybook Bay” is a very short instrumental tape loop going out of control. Next up, “Gazing at Footwear” is a floating, spacy mostly instrumental number that eventually blasts with synths. “Big Bovine” continues the speedy delivery, only this time the bouncing between both vocalists is the highlight. By throwing some quirky Sufjan-ish melodies (with banjos!) in the mix, it's probably my favorite on the album. “Ballerina” is a fun, DEVO-inspired song with throbbing bass. Dr. Seuss would approve, “Left foot right foot, Up foot down foot, Spin your partner all around foot.” “Rock n' Roll Hurts” is a repetitive jangle that turns into a screeching alarm and laughter. “Love Machine” is a bouncy, quirky tune that brings The Softies and The Roches together. “Feed him gold, set to mode, Sad to say, when I don’t, I pine, I pine (12x!!)” Next, “I Was a Tunnel” is another short, soft, echo-laden vocal exercise. “Goodnight”(no, it’s not the last song) is the closest to country Being Dead gets, but with its Mamas & Papas vocals, it ventures off into another genre. Here's the video:

The album closes out with “Lilypad Lane.” It’s a short, somber organ instrumental that really leaves the listener wondering “just what the heck will this band do next??” I know I will be waiting.
