if you don't mind, would you please infodump crashgate to me? i keep seeing it being referred to but i don't actually understand it :/ you can just ignore this ask if you don't want to tho!
OH MY GODDDDDD 🫨🫨🫨 SIT DOWN. I’M ABOUT TO TELL U THE MOST BEAUTIFULLY CHAOTIC AND CHAOTICALLY BEAUTIFUL FORMULA 1 CONTROVERSY OF ALL TIME
SO THE YEAR IS 2008. our key main players are as follows— fernando alonso, 2x world champion and also my skrunkly, his teammate nelson piquet jr, a rookie in this szn and also the son of known garbage can nelson piquet, pat symonds, renault’s director of engineering, and flavio briatore, renault’s managing director and TP at the time.
renault is literally not even in contention for the championship this year, so why they did this? who the fuck knows honestly. but we’re headed into the singapore gp. fernando has a very unfortunate qualifying, getting knocked out in Q2 after a mechanical failure and starting 15th, next to piquet jr who starts 16th. the race is seemingly normal. fernando pits on lap 12 for tyres and fuel (bc yes, back then u could refuel) and then 2 laps later, piquet jr fucking bins it into turn 17. like the flop that he is. and bc this specific turn makes it difficult to retrieve cars, they had to deploy the safety car.
2008 regs meant that the pitlane would be closed while the safety car was deployed until all the cards bunched up behind it. this gave fernando a significant advantage because remember, he already pitted 2 laps earlier, which meant that by the time the pit lane opened, the rest of the grid would have needed to pit for tyres or for fuel while he didn’t, giving him the clean air to put himself in front of the order. shenanigans ensue (massa’s fuel hose nightmare etc etc) that give him more of an advantage, and he goes on to eventually win the race.
NOW. to anyone else, this seems very, very normal. wow ! congrats to nando and renault for scoring their very first win of the season ! #underdogtingz ! and yes for literally a year, that’s what everyone thought .. until the next season.
in 2009, renault were flopping saurrr bad. they kept the same lineup and while fernando was doing his absolute best dragging the tractor that is the r29 (and slaying bc the fucker actually managed to put it on pole once), piquet jr was unsurprisingly a total disappointment, amassing a whopping ZERO POINTS !!!! renault was like wtf stop embarrassing us, and then dropped him over halfway thru the szn for romain grosjean.
piquet jr was PISSED. and he is his father’s son, so obv he decided to stir up some drama. he came onto national tv and was like um . ackshually . singapore 2008 was a LIE bc symonds and briatore asked me to crash ON PURPOSE. they had a masterplan all alongggg and everyone was like wtf !!! and briatore was like fuck you i’m suing u AND ur fuckass dad !
im not even gonna lie idk what came of that but in the end renault was like aight we’re not even gonna fight, also symonds and briatore are both resigning byeeee. eventually the FIA was like yeahhh y’all did this shit on purpose and symonds at least confessed, but briatore was STILL denying involvement even tho he clearly had enough evidence against him. symonds ended up being banned from any FIA events for 5 years (he’s working for the FIA now btw. christ!) and briatore was banned indefinitely but u just cant take the sport outta him cos u see him around sometimes lmaooo
fernando denied involvement and the FIA was like we believe u princess 🥰 whether he actually knew or not .. we don’t know .. but be was literally caught up in spygate the year before that so honestly who the fuck knows. this would honestly be nothing to him he took part in corporate espionage what’s a lil cheating gon do to his wibbly wobbly morals
ANYWAY THAT’S IT ⁉️ i might’ve missed some details but this is all coming straight from the noggin so .. def not perfect. if there is some misinformation in there someone else notices pls point it out lol

3 ships:
oh well u know me Fuckin Hirouma HQ these two have infested my brain. If you told me 10 years ago i would want the two doctors from astro boy to bone i would not have believed you. i love them in all forms, unrequited love, mutual pining, married, divorced you name it I want it.
Lawrusso
if you told me 2 years ago that i would want the two characters from the 80′s classic The Karate Kid to be in a relationship I would not have believed you. These two are still at each others throats, even in their middle age just so obsessed with each other like idk i think yall need to talk about that and if it ends in kissing then Who am i to stop them . like i just want yall to know they were at each other’s throats back in high school and it now turned to johnny being fiercely over protective of daniel come season 5 of cobra kai
Its difficult naming a third since CK and ATB/AB are my main fixations right now so I’ll name Zakuro/Mint from Tokyo Mew Mew. A Classic, I dont wanna say much cuz i know cookie is gonna read this since she’s tagged and we’re halfway thru tokyo mew mew so i dont wanna spoil anything
1st Ever Ship:
i will only count a pairing where the characters didnt have a canonical romantic relationship (subtext not included) cuz ofc i had ships before i knew the term, but the characters were established canonically to be partners SO WITHOUT FURTHER ADOOOOO ISHIMONDOOOOOOO like Spoilers for a game that came out like a decade ago but ishimaru believed in mondo’s innocence so much that he voted for himself as the murderer.
sorry i dont have good screencaps lol but yeah these two killed me back in the day
Last song
according to spotify apparently the last song i listened to was Tragedy by the Bee Gees
Currently Reading
I need to pick back up on it but I was listening to The Lost World Jurassic Park audio book
last movie
oh my god it might’ve been bridge to terabithia idk whatever it was it was smth i was watching with cookie
Currently consuming:
i just ate one of those cosmic brownies
currently watching
succession
currently craving
another brownie
uhm im not good at tagging and im way too mentally spent to think of others so please By all means if you are reading this go ahead and do it. dont worry about tagging me just say ur starting the chain over and this is the go ahead (you dont have to tag me for it tho so idk do whatever!)

i dont have the real words to voice my thoughts on it yet but like.... i dont think sorting the dsmp into "seasons" is really a good idea?
like im not gonna word this how i want to, but especially with season 2 into season 3 its become more apparent? for one, for a season to be "finished" it usually means some big event that shifts the storyline in a new direction (such as lmanberg blowing up or dream being imprisoned) and that makes sense. but with how spawling the narrative has become since s1, it also means that one particular storyline over others kind of takes the role as the "main" story.
i think its part of the reason why debate about "whos the main character" pops up. like YES, the s2 finale was the end of the disc saga and a big finale for tommy and dream, but for example the egg arc started halfway thru s2 and "ended" w the red banquet in s3 (which also then continued after it). it ends up awkwardly bookended between the two. dont get me wrong, the seasons are great shorthand for talking abt things like lmanberg, new lmanberg, the disc war, etc: they immediately let you know the basic time and plot points we're looking at. but they dont for OTHER arcs, and it makes it feel... kind of exclusionary?
theres also the issue of pacing. yeah, with or without the title of "seasons" problems w perceived pacing would still exist but it wouldnt be as jarring comparing the quick s2 to s3, where a LOT has happened but just spread out more. again, it feels like its waiting for the ""main plot"" to conclude to then 'start' s4. bc if you just care abt that, then YEAH its been slow. but if you care for every arc or even just less popular ones its been just as packed as always.
again, this isnt exactly worded how i want it to but i wanted to get my thoughts out there anyway in the meantime and it definitely covers the base of it. seasons can be helpful, but in many ways its incredibly constricting to the server and the various stories it wants to tell
#dream smp#mcyt#uhhhh idk what crit tags to use if any#dsmp meta#dsmp critical#ig??? cover my bases at least#idk ive been thinking abt this for a While#tldr; the egg arc and lsandberg are criminally underrated even in the server itself </3 /hj#BUT EVEN W OTHER THINGS LIKE. IF LAS NEVADAS IS GOING TO SHIFT THE VIEW OR WILBURS REVIVAL THEY COULD EASILY BE A NEW SEASON THEMSELVES#it just feels like they're waiting for DREAM and... no <3 FJDKLSJ

I I have a question. My favorite character is obviously Benji, but this season I started to get an ultimate rancidity of him. in the end I understood why he was acting like this, he has a PTSD because of dating Derek, his parents shitting him and alcohol and the accident. it's about the accident I wanted to know about, I didn't quite understand what this accident was and why he started drinking.
Hi anon! Thank you so much for your question. Tbh, I was in the same position when I watched the second season, at least initially. Benji came off as an asshole and my knee-jerk reaction was to be upset at him. But once I stepped back and realized what he was dealing with (what you mentioned, along with having to re-closet himself and essentially re-live the trauma of his coming out experience, while also being treated like crap by Isabel, along w the sexual abuse enabled by his father w the strip club incident), it makes his reactions make more sense. Given the timeline, it would make sense to say that Benji was drinking up until halfway through his relationship with Derek. As he explained to us in episode 7 of season 1, he hated himself and drank a lot to numb the pain, essentially. This is common in a lot of LGBTQ+ youth, because we're taught that we're abnormal, broken, etc. One can argue that Benji still struggles with these feelings even now, especially since even though he's been out for a while it's still a relatively short period overall (1 year essentially). He still has a lot of insecurities. Hell, even in ep 8 of season 2 when Benji meets with his sponsor, it shows the audience that he's not in a good place, that he probably wanted to drink again after what happened before, where he felt like he couldn't rely on the one person he SHOULD be able to rely on to defend him (Victor). When Benji spoke about his accident, I know he sorta made light of it. He told us that he was drinking one night and took his dad's car to the Wendy's drive-thru and crashed his car through it, and in his typical style, he tried to downplay it. He told us he was just a little banged up, but then he mentioned that he could have died from the incident. So it makes me wonder... what's the real truth? Was it a minor thing or was it something traumatic and life altering? I would say the latter. Because we know he came out immediately after that. But he's still, as you said, dealing with all the traumatic things that happened to him and hasn't gotten the proper help or support he should have received. He doesn't even really have a support system of people he can confide in. Overall he's just like... pretty lonely and dealing with a lot on his own. And in those situations, it's easy to fall into things like alcohol, because you don't feel like you have anything to get rid of the self-loathing and you don't have someone to turn to help you. I hope this at least somewhat answered your question, anon.

short recap of my thoughts on 5x09
okay so i was gonna rewatch the whole episode and do a blow-by-blow reaction post but i’m not sure i’ll have time and i kinda wanna focus on watching my fave scenes from the show before tonight. also, everyone else’s reaction posts p. much sum up my thoughts lol
nonetheless, i just wanted to give my main takeaways on the episode a week later, in case anyone cares where i’m at going into the finale! gonna go over the things i liked first, anyone who wants to just remain positive and not see any salty takes might wanna just stick to reading the first part b/c i definitely rant a bit at the end lmao. we’re still having a fun time tho 😂
THINGS I LOVED
- i mean... i think we know LOL
- obviously. i loved james and teresa’s i love you scenes, and kisses, and OOF THAT SEX SCENE. if someone had told me we were gonna get that scene back in like 2017??? i probably would have started literally floating. i totally respect that people had very specific ideas of what they wanted out of those scenes and could have different feelings about it but NOT ME BABES I AM ECSTATIC!!! i did go into the episode with a ~feeling~ that we were gonna get at least one ILY in the episode, and i just had a feeling it would be james, or at least that he would say it first. i’ve already explained in my meta about the scenes why i think it makes sense that he said it first and why i love it that he did, so i won’t go into that here. but i went in having really no expectations for it other than that it was gonna happen! i was debating about whether it would happen really casually while they’re talking, or in like a big action scene, or really dramatic or what, and what i would prefer, and i came to the conclusion that i would love it no matter what lol, but i was really into the idea of james just. fucking. saying it. while they’re just talking about something really casually. so therefore i was pretty happy with it when we got sort of a mix! they’re talking about teresa’s insane death trap of a plan so there’s that drama of “i don’t want to lose you esp. not before saying ILY” kinda thing, but it’s also just. so simple and sure! and then teresa’s i love you is like the perfect scene for me where one character is super focused on something else (in this case, trying to protect the woman he loves! agh!) and the other is just like.. i love you!!!! SO GOOD
- let’s see, what the hell else happened in this ep?
- oh okay i really liked james and teresa’s vibes this episode, they were so focused on each other and had this very ride-or-die feeling about them like they knew that each of their plans was increasingly stupid and desperate and might not even get them where they wanna go, but they were IN IT TOGETHER no matter what 😭i wish we had gotten a callback to that line but at this point, i’m p. sure they Know they’re in it together, and we do too. so it’s okay. i love that teresa still asks his input and considers his opinions even if she does her own thing anyways haha
- oh on that note, i LOVED the moment where their plans to kill Kostya aren’t working and Teresa says something like “If I can meet with him in person, I can kill him myself” and James just has this LOOK that just is the epitome of the “I am in love with a women who is DESIGNED TO STRESS ME OUT” meme lol, it made me giggle, v classic QOTS moment
- oh and of course, I LOVED that scene with devon and james at the end!!!!!!!! i was also confused about how james was showing all his emotions in that scene esp. since he tries to be stoic about his feelings for Teresa around Devon, but now that i’ve read a few people’s thoughts about, it i’m fully on board w the theory that james and teresa already knew this was coming, b/c they’re smart, and b/c james knows devon wouldn’t have let him walk away to save Teresa at the beginning of the season without motivation (like having him in place to kill her when she’s no longer useful to the CIA) and THEREFORE james was sort of “overacting” to make it believable to devon (and the audience lol) that he didn’t know this was coming, didn’t want to do it, but felt like he had to, rather than the fact that they were already plotting a fake death. that makes a lot of sense to me and makes me really love all the layers to that scene. it does give me a little bit of hope that the finale ~teresa’s not really dead~ reveal will be at least a little well executed and not just shoved in at the very end. we shall see though!
- alright i think that’s what i loved about the episode, if u don’t wanna hear me bitching about the little things then u should probably stop here!! just have to get out some of my saltiness lol
THINGS I WAS ANNOYED ABOUT
- i’m just gonna get it out of the way, yes, i too was supremely annoyed at the amount of KA and Pote take suburbia; it was all 1000% predictable down to the raccoon and the cookies, and the point could have been accomplished in exactly 1 scene, maybe 2, certainly not like 10 or however many we got. whatever. ugh.
- okay. OKAY. chicho. we need to talk about chicho. i for one, am not mad that he called pote, my boy was stressed. I AM HOWEVER, mad at the writers for making pote come back after saying he trusted chicho to take care of teresa now. like. it totally devalued THE WHOLE THING!! imo, pote shoulda stayed his ass at home where we had to watch him settle all episode, and chicho should have gotten THE HERO MOMENT HE DESERVED (esp. cuz he’s on first name basis w teresa now??) which ALSO WOULD HAVE MADE THE SCENE WHERE TERESA GIVES CHICHO THE DISTILLERY AND THE BAR SO! MUCH! MORE! MEANINGFUL!!!!! or just made it make sense at all? like .... i’m just so confused by that whole plotline like what was the point? chicho does nothing but call pote and gets T’s whole legacy in NOLA?
- and don’t even get me started on how it makes ZERO sense that pote would have had to charge in at the last minute to save teresa when JAMES THE SNIPER W AMAZING AIM WHO IS LITERALLY. IN LOVE WITH HER. is standing outside like. ur telling me james and chicho (who again, is supposed to be her #2 after james now) just stood there like “oh hey pote yeah you go ahead we’ll wait here good luck” like WHAT also.. how did pote get past all the guards that made james stay outside? are we meant to believe pote is that sneaky? y’all. it just. doesn’t make sense. this whole plot situation maddens me more than anythings tbh UGH JUST MAKE IT MAKE SENSE
- oksana’s daughter..... what’s her name again? idk b/c we only MET HER THIS WEEK....okay this amuses me but i’m also annoyed b/c like. there were so many other women who could have taken that spot in the opening sequence... Lil T, Castel, hell even Isabela??? Like idk how they could have done it but they put so much effort into her plot in the first seasons that i really thought she was gonna end up w/ Teresa in the end.. idk that would have been kind cool, Camila’s two “daughters” eventually working their way out of the life together..again idk how they could have realistically done it but i really do wish it had been someone we met before. if it had to be someone new this season, they could have introduced her earlier instead of one of the seemingly dozens of random guys we knew for 1 episode before they died... like.. give her some depth please. is she even gonna be in the finale? honestly she better be after making us listen to pote welcome her into the family... like the family u were supposed to leave so u could have an actual baby pote? the family that’s literally dispersing as we speak? also.. since when did pote love oksana so much anyways? also...... just.. if teresa’s gonna have some sort of daughter figure or whatever she’s supposed to be, wouldn’t it make sense to have her be the one to give the big welcome to the family speech? idk y’all..... i’m amused but also baffled at the sheer lack of planning behind this. did no one realize they needed someone for the opening scene until like. halfway thru the season? did they plan to have it be castel but they couldn’t get her for filming (hence all the weird castel plots?) INQUIRING MINDS WOULD LIKE TO KNOW. it’s whatever tho lol
- i just hope that what’s-her-name gets a lil bit of plot in the finale esp. since otherwise it might just be pote running around being pissy (i don’t actually think that haha but i am a lil nervous that teresa won’t come back until the last few mins and i’ll have to spend all episode looking at boaz and devon and pote and KA.. i haven’t looked at any spoilers tho so i’m still hopeful! i will probably make a post about my hopes going into the finale a lil later, both realistic and unrealistic :)
#ik it's all been said before but i just had to get my feelings out before i could move on to the finale#the finale!!! wow.. crazy shit y'all#qots#queen of the south#jeresa#qots 5x09

KILLING EVE SEASON 1 EPISODE 4 REVIEW
wow we got a lot to unpack in this one folks…
eve’s anger and guilt in this scene is so unmatched. you know in this moment that for her it’s more than just a “stop and take her down”. this is everything for eve.
also can we just take a second to really talk about how fake funerals are? frank’s fake ass up there telling bullshit stories really never fails to get an eye roll out of me.
this is top 10 one of my favorite killing eve scenes of all time. the violin music, the cake, the look a like costume to konstantin. everything is so perfect. i love this scene because you know how crazy she really is, because she notices everything. there’s nothing you can’t do that she won’t see. if she weren’t so hot i’d be afraid of her.
she’s already planning their murders here. like *insert that one oprah gif*
sorry baby x
the part where they’re staking frank’s house out. that guy (i don’t even know his name) is so annoying and i’m already so over him. but villanelles faces in this episode are amazing. also the whole ass mini van chase scene to “crash boom bang” ICONIC.
her accents literally show her insanity. like nobody can do that, yet she can. a crazy person. i fucking love her.
eve’s comment “does he know we’re here?”
i’m lowkey so glad that i started watching the show halfway thru season 2.. because to be stuck on these cliffhangers back during season 1 i would’ve been miserable. jokes on me tho!!
niko is so nice that it’s actually sickening, but yet he’s so annoying too. he just wants eve to be safe but yet he keeps villanelle and eve apart longer. ugh.
also in that moment that Nadia called villanelle “Oksana” in that shoot off scene. i think that was the real moment villanelle decided to kill her.
rating: 10/10

DAYS 43-49
DAY FORTY-THREE
7:30 AM - Up a little early so I can close on my house. The process is pretty easy and I feel safe about it and such. We do it on the front porch with 6 foot folding table.
8:30 AM - I need to re-caulk the side door trim before I can start painting so I do that while I make my chemex. This is fun (not) because I don’t own a caulk gun.
10:30 AM - Eat a plant yogurt
12:00 PM - Snack on chips and salsa – damn the salsa I made is so good this time. Also make salad for lunch. I’m set up in the kitchen today which is clearly a bad scene because I keep going to the pantry for more snacks. Relocate to the bedroom.
2:00 PM - I really should get my barre class out of the way today. I have a 4PM happy hour and I know I won’t want to work out after that, so I do a 10 minute low impact ride and then start class.
4:00 PM - I get done with most of the class and hop on zoom. Make refried beans in the instant pot for dinner while we chat.
5:00 PM - Finish the zoom and knock out the last 10 minutes of barre. I don’t like to split the classes up like that but oh well.
6:00 PM - Finish making the beans as well as rice and jackfruit for burritos. K isn’t hungry so I watch an episode of The Challenge before making the burritos.
7:30 PM - Ok these are really good. Dang! I don’t want to drink tonight so I open a La Croix and try to hydrate.
DAY FORTY-THREE TOTAL: $0
DAY FORTY-FOUR
8:00 AM - I’m awake and I feel really good. K is still pretty conked out and I get the idea to go to Cartel. I haven’t been in a few months because cases were super high but now seems like a good opportunity. This is the one thing I do behind K’s back. It’s contactless and it’s super safe so I don’t really consider it to be a risk but I know he isn’t ready to drink things directly out of containers they’re served in on the same day you buy them so let’s just leave this between us. Buy a hot oat milk latte and tip $10. $17.57
10:00 AM - Make a chemex so K doesn’t suspect anything. Hang with him on the couch for a bit and then start moving around the furniture in the kitchen to start taping.
11:30 AM - Take a break to cook breakfast - tofu/egg tacos with field roast sausage.
12:15 PM - Back to taping. It takes forev, but I think I did a good job.
3:45 PM - First coat done. Watch an episode of The challenge before I apply the second.
5:30 PM - Done with the second. Watch more of the challenge.
7:00 PM - Dinner tonight is pozole. I take my time making it and drink a glass of wine while I cook.
8:00 PM - Dang this is so delicious.
DAY FORTY-FOUR TOTAL: $17.57
DAY FORTY-FIVE
9:00 AM - Woah I am SO SORE. What the hell? My quads. Make a chemex and work on putting the kitchen back together, but I run out of time and have to meet with S and her BF on zoom. K joins me and it’s a really good time.
11:15 PM - Ok back to tape removal.
12:15 PM - Done! / Looks good! Make more tofu tacos for breakfast.
2:00 PM - My boss is applying for citizenship in the US and she asked me to help build her a website. I have totally spaced it over the past two weeks and get cracking on it today. Make some good progress and send her what I have.
4:00 PM - Watch some episodes of The Challenge. For whatever reason this feels like the first time I’ve actually relaxed this weekend and I am here for it.
6:00 PM - We drive to a bar I DJ at on the reg during non-pandemic times to do a pick up of their Valentine’s Day special. Neither K or I are big V Day fans and we feel like this is good enough to “celebrate.” We get two veggie dogs, fries and a bottle of wine to take home. J (my friend who owns the bar) runs my card for $31ish and I tip $20. K insists he pays and he venmos me $50. $1.89
7:00 PM - I haven’t had fries in like… a year. And these ones are really delicious! The wine is good too. Spend the rest of the evening catching up on my blog. I haven’t felt very motivated to work on it this month.
8:00 PM - Get a charge from Amazon… S is buying movies again. Make a venmo request for $16 and she fulfills it. $0.19
DAY FORTY-FIVE TOTAL: $2.08
DAY FORTY-SIX
8:30 AM - WOW I am still sore WTF. Make a chemex and notice my tea kettle has a rust spot. Damnit. At this point, I would rather just buy an electric kettle with a gooseneck spout to get rid of both of my kettles, but I’m trying to stick to my budget this month. I’ve been covering K’s groceries throughout the pandemic and he owes me around $2k at this point. Because of this, I’ve kind of cut back on clothing and other frivolous purchases until he starts to pay me back so I can still save money every month. But rust is rust and I don’t want to get sick. Buy a Stagg EKG kettle with a nice wood handle. $160.62
10:00 AM - plant yogurt, a clementine and Pure Barre weekly charge. $15
12:00 PM - It’s salad time but I’m kind of out of tempeh and am a little burnt out on the miso Asian vibe anyways. Toss together some greens, bell pepper, onion, carrots, snap peas, cucumber, and a frozen Quorn spicy chicken patty and top it with cashew ranch. It’s honestly really good.
4:00 PM - Call M to wish him a happy bday. Tell him either next Sunday or the Sunday after that we will do a lunch thing together in his backyard to celebrate. Drink a nuun while we chat.
5:15 PM - I do a pure barre workout but make the mistake of doing it on my work computer at the post-workday slacks are coming in hot this AM. My body’s HR doesn’t really pick up but I still feel proud of myself for pushing thru the soreness.
7:00 PM - K and I eat big burritos for dinner with jackfruit, beans, rice, lettuce, tofutti sour cream, cheeze, and jalapenos with chips and salsa. They’re so good and I am sad that we’re out of tortilla chips and salsa now.
8:00 PM - Since dinner was kinda big and I had fries yesterday, I spend the evening hydrating instead of drinking wine. K and I watch a 4 part docuseries on Elisa Lam & the Cecil Hotel. At some point he goes off to work on some stuff and I wrap up this website I’m building for my boss who is working on getting her green card.
DAY FORTY-SIX TOTAL: $175.62
DAY FORTY-SEVEN
9:00 AM - Make a chemex. Finish the site and send it to my boss who approves. Hopefully I don’t have to actually post it for her. I hate dealing with hosting and such.
10:00 AM - I don’t really want yogurt today and find a small portion of tofu scramble leftover from Sunday. Heat that up and top with truffle hot sauce.
12:00 PM - Kill the rest of the salad ingredients today by making the same dish as yesterday but with peas instead of red bell peppers. Review the site I made for my boss. She sends me a $100 amazon gift card! How sweet.
5:00 PM - Get sucked in a meeting and am not able to leave until 5:30. I’m not interested in exercising this late so I zone out on the couch for a bit and snack on some gf pretzels. Start a new season of The Challenge. Drink a glass of wine.
7:00 PM - Heat up leftover pozole for dinner. Eat with K while we “watch” a hockey game.
8:30 PM - Pour another glass of wine and chat on the phone with Q. I end up feeling super antsy halfway through our conversation and decide to take a walk. I do a nice loop down to the lake and back to my house. Next time we decide that we will walk together.
10:30 PM - I check my phone after our conversation to see 100 slack messages from various team members. Looks like there is something going on which will affect the report I have to give tomorrow. Read thru, ask some questions and feel good about what I have to change.
DAY FORTY-SEVEN TOTAL: $0
DAY FORTY-EIGHT
8:15 AM - Up a little early today so I can adjust my report. Make a chemex while I pull numbers.
9:30 AM - Present the info. It’s good stuff! My boss is out of town so I think today should be pretty chill. Get a note from my bank that the wire of leftover funds from the mortgage stuff has been transferred to my checking totaling $1250.39.
12:00 PM - Make broccoli fried rice for lunch. Things turn chaotic for the rest of the day and by the time I know it, it’s 4:00 PM
4:15 PM - Decide to cut out early today and take a live barre class. 20 minutes in (10 minutes before 5), I get a message from my teammate asking to hop on zoom. She has computer issues so I’m actually able to finish the class before she’s ready.
7:00 PM - Finally done working. Rinse off and make pasta for dinner. Drink 3 glasses of wine.
9:30 PM - K and I play Mario Kart for a while before turning in.
DAY FORTY-EIGHT TOTAL: $0
DAY FORTY-NINE
8:30 AM - Today has to be more chill than yesterday… It just has to be. Make a chemex. See that my hair dresser is selling shirts for her shop. Venmo her. $25
12:00 PM - Prep chicken seitan shreds. Broccoli fried rice for lunch with seltzer.
1:30 PM - Finish making the seitan, eat an apple, gf pretzels and carrots. I realize I forgot to eat breakfast this AM. Ugh.
5:00 PM - My butt is super sore from yesterday but I do my barre workout anyways. It’s so nice to not be interrupted. My cal burn is low but I don’t even care. It’s just nice to move.
6:00 PM - Rinse off and prep dinner. We make buffalo chicken sandwiches with roasted potatoes. They turn out pretty good and I’m excited to eat them over the next few days.
8:00 PM - Drink a glass of wine. I google if I can have more since I’m getting the COVID vaccine tomorrow and it seems like one is ok but maybe not more so I decide against it.
DAY FORTY-NINE TOTAL: $25

do you want pike to be captain or are you annoyed about the current captain situation? i stopped watching halfway thru s2 but really want to get back into it!
Hi anon! In answer to your q, the second one—I’m annoyed at how, in a franchise that has had the protagonist be the commanding officer of the ship/station in all six of its previous shows, DSC not only made it so that the first woman protagonist of color did not begin her show as the captain/commanding officer (even Sisko, the man of color who perhaps-not-coincidentally was the only other Trek protagonist not to start his show with the rank of captain, still very much from the beginning was in the traditional Trek role of being fully in command of the space station his show centered around), but then made it so that the captains for the first season, second season, and at least the beginning of the coming third season are three (3) different white men. And at how the Season 1 promotional materials in particular did a bait-and-switch by hyping Burnham and Georgiou before making the actual show 2.5+ seasons of white dude captains, and at the way that, even after Lorca is off the show at the end of Season 1, Season 2 brings another white man to show “what a Good Starfleet Captain is like,” as though the example of the Good Starfleet Captain couldn’t have been a woman of color, or a nonbinary disabled person of color, or...
However, I can see how the way I set up my post about the Pike show made it unclear whether I was using the concept of ‘reverse bait-and-switch where women of color are the captains in the Pike show’s first seasons rather than Pike’ in order complain about DSC, or in order to complain about the hypothetical situation I had described where Pike wasn’t the captain. Thanks for asking for clarification!
Also, to be clear, I’m happy for anyone who loves Pike and is thrilled to have a Pike show specifically. I personally ended DSC Season 2 liking him as a character much more than I did at the beginning of the season, and the actor is awesome—I don’t wish the new show ill. And I’d be especially thrilled if it actually handles Pike’s future disability well, though given how badly the new Treks have handled pretty much every type of topic related to identity, I don’t have my hopes too high on that count. But it feels very glaring that not only did CBS and the showrunners have the first 2.5+ seasons of their show with a woman protagonist of color have three (3) different white men as the captains, and not only did Season 2 in particular focus so much on Pike and Spock—and write 20something Spock as being (out of character; I love TOS!Spock!) repeatedly physically violent to his sister without apologizing or being accountable—now one of the new show slots will go to a white man. Which doesn’t mean that SNW won’t have good aspects, or that there’s a damn thing wrong with people who love the specific character of Pike being thrilled about this—what’s glaring is the trend of how, with DSC and PIC and now SNW, CBS seems to think that they need to cater to viewers who want any/every/only white men as captains, and how the hypothetical reversed scenario of having three different characters who all happen to be women of color replacing Pike as captain for the first 2.5+ seasons would be so noticeable to viewers—and is so unlikely to happen in any modern mainstream Hollywood show—because white men are seen as default leaders in a way other people are not.
Re the second part of your ask, all of the above being said, DSC is my personal favorite of the Trek shows, so if you really want to get back into it I absolutely recommend it! I strongly dislike the choices I rambled about above, and the fridging of Georgiou and Landry, and so on. But I love the characters, and the chunks of writing and the actors that make those characters possible, and the gorgeous production and effects. Bluntly, we’re at a point where MOST (though not all!) big-budget genre TV shows and movies have a lot of death, fridging of non-white-men characters, and gore, so if I’m gonna watch modern genre TV, I at least want to watch a show with a lot of great characters, on-screen queer representation, and a woman of color lead who is an amazing and nuanced character (yes, Michael’s plotlines have gotten short shrift, but thanks especially to Martin-Green’s acting, her characterization and development are complex and fascinating).
Also, as has been pointed out frequently, it historically has taken Star Trek shows a season or two to find their footing, and there were a lot of behind-the-scenes issues and chaos affecting the writing and producing of DSC Seasons 1 and 2, so there seems to be a decent chance that Season 3 will center Michael more and avoid gross tropes. That being said, the pre-Season-2 hype made me genuinely believe we’d get a healing arc for Michael and less gratuitous trauma porn in general, and we got neither of those things, so I’m a little hesitant about believing Season 3 will indeed be better...but it sounds like they really may have actually have taken some steps to reduce poorly-handled grimdark this time (and IIRC the new showrunner is a gay woman?) so I’m holding out hope that it finally will.
Since you mentioned that you stopped watching halfway through Season 2, a word of warning (that will make me sound like a broken record to anyone who has been seeing me rant about 2x10 for over a year now) that there is what I consider to be an egregiously violent scene toward Burnham in episode 10, so heads up if you continue watching (feel free to anon me for details!) But yeah, despite all my qualms, DSC is my fave Trek—I just wish it’d do better.
And if the Pike show does pull a bait-and-switch and give us a season or three of women captains of color, I will not say no. ;)

"sc is happening. i think they were halfway thru season 4, and some exec from the cw was like "hey, kara hasn't been in a rs for 2 seasons now, we need a new LI to get some rating boost!" and some writer was like "well, it's going to be difficult to introduce a LI that can get the audience at this point. unless..." and the exec was like "bitch if you gonna say sc, save ur breath, bettween kram, lames, and current drought we did all we could to alienate their fandom, hoes ain't coming back" (1/4)
but they got till the end of S4 to prove then wrong, so we got the 4x15-4x22, w a lot of subtext to pick up on, but nothing that the GA would deem implicitly romantic, or baiting really, not yet. however, the fandom rose from the ashes, a lot of people who gave up after the only sc interaction for like 10+ episodes was lena passing kara some salt came roaring back, and even some who gave up before that. stage one was over - we passed the test. time for stage two - the GA (2/4)
the GA was trickier, cuz they're oblivious af. to gauge their response, they had to go above and beyond. hence we got the heavy-handed, downrigt anvilicious framing on EVERYTHING. music, direction, acting, editing, writing itself - everyone gave it their all. here comes queller's "can't promise to make all our dreams come true"... well, she couldn't, they didn't get the green light yet. the GA response, however, has been very positive, to the point some are now asking for it along w us (3/4)
now we're at the stage three. i'm sure they were allowed to push this far because they had the crisis failsafe - if it didn't work, they could just brush it all under the rug and push william or sth. post-crisis is the make or break, however, we had queller liking tweets asking for sc around the time of 100th episode party. can't help thinking it's either when they got the greenlight, or it's getting canonized in the episode itself. in conclusion, supercorp endgame (4/4)"
You are absolutely right. These things take time and are a process, but gauging the positive response, we're closer than ever. Supercorp endgame baby, we really rising

I’m just going to say this regarding these antis that are still out there crying for PS or SB. I guess they conveniently forget ep 3x1, B goes back in time to save his mother which changes everything. That was the ultimate opportunity to be with whoever he wanted to be with. He could’ve found PS, he could’ve found CS but who did he stalk for 3 months?IW. If he was soo in love with CS since S1, why did he not try & find her in the alternate reality? No one would be the wiser. Same as Patty, 1/2
he could’ve looked for her. He had a clean slate to date whoever but instead he did what he’s always done which is pining over IW, “stalking” IW for 3 months. He only rem CS 3 months later, halfway thru the ep & per usual PS was not even a blip on his radar after she left town. He hasn’t even mentioned P since 2x20 & even then it was in an “I can care less” kind of way. So why these antis are still in their feelings is beyond stupid. Once he started dating IW, everyone knew it was a wrap 2/2
Following the logical course of the narrative, Barry has only ever been portrayed as being head over heels in love with Iris. The show has spent the near entirety of its narrative developing Westallen’s love story. We’re going into the sixth season, and it’s as if antis cannot grasp simple story-telling. Actually, more accurately, they don’t want to, and so they think being as loud and as obnoxious as possible will get them what they want, when ironically, they’re simply coming across as entitled brats. The narrative never promised anything besides Westallen, so to be so offended that the narrative didn’t tell a story it was never going to tell in the first place, reeks of entitlement, and it’s racist entitlement, because all it comes down to is the unfathomability to these racist antis that a black woman is the leading lady and the love of the white hero’s life, because they are so convinced that that narrative importance only can belong to a white woman.

Can you do a meta for Zuko on his Uncle Iroh, and the most significant lessons / pieces of wisdom that he learned from him?
META ↪ ACCEPTING / @proditeur
ohh boyyy… i’m gonna have to do yet another rewatch to answer this to the fullest. i honestly don’t have the time to do that right now but i do want to answer this question since my muse for atla seems to be really strong these days. i’m gonna start by splitting this into different sections because i feel like there’s A Lot i could say. i hope everything flows and ya’ll can understand my ramblings lol
zuko & uncle iroh’s relationship
obviously when we’re introduced to the series, one of the first relationships we see is the one between zuko and iroh. u can tell right off the bat that they care about one another a lot, mostly u can tell from iroh more than zuko in the beginning until that changes later on. it’s def one of the strongest relationships we see throughout the series. i don’t rmr if the series explained why iroh had left with zuko after his banishment like whether that was thru iroh’s own volition or if he was driven out by ozai as well. either way, we all know that iroh thinks of zuko as a son after his own died.
i think that’s because zuko and iroh share similarities and iroh sees that. iroh sees the potential zuko has. in the beginning, zuko is an angry individual. he gets mad easily. he gets upset easily. he gets frustrated. we do see other parts of his personality and eventually we do see him change and he becomes more like iroh in a way. here’s the thing, though. while i do believe that zuko learned a lot from his uncle…
i’m going to argue that zuko learned a lot from everyone he ever interacted with as well. not saying that his relationship with his uncle isn’t important because, i mean, it IS. their relationship was introduced to us from the very beginning so of course it’s important. the thing i’m trying to get at is that although it was iroh who was there to guide zuko in a way on his journey, it was actually zuko who helped himself. iroh never rlly told zuko what to do with his life, it was zuko who figured it out on his own. it was zuko who realized his mistakes and learned from them and grew as a person.
zuko as an individual
i’ve written this on my other blog and i’ll say it again: zuko’s redemption arc works because he was never truly a bad guy despite his mistakes with the gaang in s1-2. zuko is written as the initial villain but that’s only cos he’s hunting the avatar who has been established as the protagonist of our series. he treats aang & co as his enemies BUT he treats other people just fine for the most part. and we see that from the very beginning like in the very first episode where he promises to leave the water tribe alone if aang goes with him or in a few episodes later where he foregoes chasing appa (+ aang) bc the most important task at hand is getting his ship and his crew out of the bad weather and into safety.
the only reason he’s chasing the avatar is bc in his mind that’s what’s gonna gain his father’s approval. and zuko in the first 2 seasons wants nothing more than his father’s love & acceptance & approval esp since his mother is no longer in the picture. and, you know, i’m sure zuko knows from an early age that his father isn’t the best person and nor is he the best parent but… all that is put aside simply bc of the fact that ozai is his father. they are blood related. and ppl can pretend like that doesn’t matter but when you’re young, when that’s all you have, it fucking matters. i can’t explain it well atm but children want the love & acceptance & approval from their parents. it’s normal. toph is another example of this, she wants those things but doesn’t have them. their situations in a way are similar yet manifests in different outcomes.
zuko’s drive to find the avatar and take him to the fire nation is only because of his desire for his father’s approval. but the thing is that zuko was always torn between his allegiance to his father and, idk, his allegiance to be himself. zuko is not like ozai or sozin or azulon. he isn’t like azula either. he doesn’t rlly share the same ideals they do in regards to the fire nation being #1 in the world or superior to other nations or however u wanna describe it. even if he didn’t get banished, i rlly don’t believe he’d turn into the type of person the previous generations of firelords were. i think ozai saw this in zuko and that’s why he favored azula over him. it was azula who possessed the traits ozai thought was important, not zuko. but what ozai considers weakness in zuko turns out to be his greatest strengths.
underneath all that anger in the beginning, zuko was always… kind in his own ways. and he learns to be open to change and growth. in season 2 when we see him free appa from underground and throw away his blue spirit mask, it’s supposed to symbolize this awakening/change in him. but in the end of season 2, he chooses to side with azula again because like i’ve said before his desire for his father’s approval is greater than his desire for… idk… whatever else. he’s still confused. as much as i wanted zuko to join the gaang earlier, it wasn’t time for him to. we had to wait until literally halfway thru book 3 to see that and it was a lil annoying cos i would have loved to see him join earlier so they could have all had more interactions but!!!!!! i truly don’t believe that zuko throwing away the blue spirit mask was enough, hence the betrayal at the end of s2. someone could be there to guide you or influence you but ultimately your decisions in life are your own.
lessons zuko has learned on his journey
a) episode 2x09 - bitter work
there’s a scene where iroh is explaining all four elements to zuko and how each element contributes to different nations’ idk personalities or culture or whatever. and i always thought that scene was beautiful bc iroh isn’t insulting other nations, he’s describing their strengths. and then iroh says:
“it is important to draw wisdom from many different places. if you take it from only one place, it becomes rigid and stale. understand others–the other elements–and the other nations will help you become whole.”
like i honestly think zuko kinda already knew that but it was never worded to him that way. we see him also learn it on his own when he parts ways with his uncle and he’s off traveling on his own. zuko has also traveled the world for years after his banishment. there’s no way he’s out there thinking the fire nation’s beliefs are the only ones that matter. he’s learned a lot from his travels imo. about himself and about others.
this is also the episode where iroh teaches zuko how to redirect lightning so, yanno, there’s that. in one of the earlier episodes, iroh reminds zuko about the breath and how that could save his life in the cold and also another time where he instructs zuko to break zhao’s root during a duel or whatever. so def iroh not only offers advice/wisdom thru words but also thru teaching zuko firebending.
b) episode 2x17 - lake laogai
imo this episode was Wild to me mostly cos of the confrontation between zuko and his uncle. zuko’s still thinking of capturing the avatar even though at this point he and iroh are fire nation fugitives and on the wanted list. zuko is still confused and torn between being true to himself and being the son his father wants him to be. it’s iroh’s words that honestly hit a lil too close to home for me too lmao. zuko says smth about how he knows his destiny and iroh says:
“is it your own destiny or is it a destiny someone else has tried to force on you? it is time for you to look inward and begin asking yourself the big questions: WHO are you and what do YOU want?”
like i’ve said before, zuko isn’t thinking about what he wants. or maybe he has but it’s not rlly a priority for him. his priority is still pleasing his father and the only way he knows how is to capture aang. he thinks that’s what’s gonna make him happy but…
c) episode 3x06 - the avatar and the firelord
obviously zuko isn’t happy. at this point he’s returned to the fire nation and finally has what he’s wanted for years: ozai’s approval. i’m not gonna say love cos i don’t believe for one second that ozai loved his son lmfao! and nor did he love azula but that’s another story for another day. anyways, zuko thought that “killing” the avatar would make him happy and being back home would make him happy but uh. he’s changed over the years. he’s still confused about what he wants vs what his father wants.
it’s hard for people to break away from their families, man. it rlly truly is. we as the audience know that that’s what zuko has to do but honestlyyy how many of us irl are kind of in similar positions???? it’s hard to breakaway from family (the ppl who r supposed to support u) when you don’t have other strong connections and lbr zuko doesn’t. he had his uncle and he fucked it up. but anyway this entire episode was WILD and i loved every moment of it. it goes thru the story of avatar roku and his friend sozin. but the plot twist is that roku is zuko’s great grandfather which, tbh, i was not expecting at all LMFAO. maybe it was obvious to every1 else but, man, was i in shock lol.
the lesson in this episode is that everyone is capable of being good or evil (as aang learns) but the other lesson is that this is kind of what finally pushes zuko to change. i mean he was never truly evil as we’ve seen in the past and he’s made bad decisions but it’s this moment that drives him to come to the goddamn epiphany that, no, he isn’t happy in the fire nation.
d) episodes 3x10 & 3x11 - the day of black sun
zuko isn’t happy in the fire nation.his father needs to be stopped cos what he’s doing is wrong. and it’s a big fckn risk to defy the firelord and leave the comfort of your home behind… like what if the avatar & co don’t accept zuko into the group? it’s a risk but zuko knows what he has to do and has probably known it for a long time. it’s hard to BREAK AWAY BUT ZUKO FINALLY DID IT. and you know what!!!!!! when zuko stood up to his father and told ozai that now it’s his (ozai’s) turn to listen to zuko……… it was literally the BEST thing ever lmfao. here’s a part of what zuko says:
“i’ve come to an even more important decision. i’m going to join the avatar and i’m going to help him defeat you.”
zuko says “I’VE come to the decision” and i think that’s important cos he came to the decision on his own. like ya his uncle was there for him but honestly like… no one told him to do any of that!!!!! underneath that anger, this is who he is: a kind, compassionate person????? now i don’t even know what i’m trying to get at anymore but i guess just the way he says “but i’ve come to an even more important decision” just gets to me like. it’s important that he made his own choice and wasn’t coerced into it bc that makes his choices more real and genuine. if zuko wasn’t a good person underneath all that anger and bitterness then would he have done this? no, lol. the audience loves zuko’s redemption arc because he never truly bad on the inside, he made mistakes, realized them, made the active decision to do better and be better for others, and does that continuously thru s3 and we can assume after the series ends as well. zuko in s3 isn’t the zuko in s1 and we SEE that and that’s what we love abt his arc.
e) tea
isn’t zuko seen serving tea to every1 in the finale at the very end. like i’m sure iroh taught him how to brew the right cup of tea lmfao!!!!! idk much about diff types of tea but uh there’s diff temperatures u heat the water and how long u steep it and idk guess it’s an art huh
#wan shi tong's library ( meta )#answered: ooc#proditeur#mannn this turned out to be way longer than i expected lol

Twist 那個油罐車竟然是實景拍攝
電影
Crew Stories 昨天上午11:41 ·
On this day in 1996 Twister was released "That's no moon, it's a space station!" Tom Hanks was the original choice for the role of Bill Harding. Hanks read lines with the cast and even chose the character's wardrobe, which stayed in the final film, before dropping out. Kurt Russell and Michael Keaton were other possible considerations. Bill Paxton was chosen due to his "southern everyman charm" on a recommendation from director James Cameron. Another James Cameron connection is the name on the tanker truck that pushes Bill's pickup off of the tree is "Benthic Petroleum" which is the same oil company that Ed Harris' crew works for in The Abyss (1989). The base camp (where the crew trucks and equipment are staged) for the end sequence was at a pig farm down the road from the well-house. Every morning the cast and crew were greeted by the smell of a 2-acre pig-waste holding pond in the middle of all the trucks. 2nd AD Richard Oswald shared with us that the legendary Newt Arnold, was the 1st AD would do a loud Tarzan howl when camera was ready! During the hot summer shoot the crew went thru tons of Gold Bond for their “nether region” during dustings at lunch. Crew stories member Jeff Machit shared this anecdote about his experience on the film, my favorite Twister moment. “We’re working in the middle of tornado alley during the middle of tornado season. Many of the crew were concerned about what to do if we were threatened by a real twister. Production brought in the local TV weather man to reassure us. He told us not to worry as we have an on site Doppler radar. The radar would give us a 15 minute warning. He also reassured us that there were two helicopters standing by to evacuate all the above-the-line personnel. The rest of crew should find a ditch to jump into.” Some crew members, feeling that De Bont was "out of control", left the production five weeks into filming. The camera crew led by cinematographer Don Burgess ASC claimed De Bont "didn't know what he wanted till he saw it. He would shoot one direction, with all the equipment behind the view of the camera, and then he'd want to shoot in the other direction right away and we'd have to move [everything] and he'd get angry that we took too long ... and it was always everybody else's fault, never his". De Bont claims that they had to schedule at least three scenes every day because the weather changed so often, and "Don had trouble adjusting to that". When De Bont threw down a camera assistant in a fit of rage, Burgess and his crew had enough and walked off the set, much to the shock of the cast. I just talked to the AC now a operator and he shared this with us. “Looking back on it, I wish I had the self confidence and awareness to make an official complaint to the studio. But I was 32 years old with two young kids and I was afraid it would affect my ability to find work. Obviously, those were different times.” The camera grip and electric crew remained in place for one more week until cinematographer Jack N. Green's crew agreed to replace them. Unfortunately with just two days left of principal photography Jack Green was injured on stage, a warehouse. The set was built so the second floor would drop. It was very hot and there was air conditioning that was very loud. A test of the floor dropping was going to be done. The 1st AD called it out. Jack was underneath and because of the air conditioning didn’t hear the warning. Jack was instructing lamp operator Matt Hawkins to adjust a light and in doing so moved him out of harms way. Unfortunately for Jack the dropping floor hit him injuring his back. Jack spent some time in the hospital. Jan De Bont took over cinematography duties for the remainder of the shoot. Halfway through filming, both Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt were temporarily blinded by bright electronic lamps used to make the sky behind the two actors look dark and stormy. Paxton remembers that "these things literally sunburned our eyeballs. I got back to my room, I couldn't see". To solve the problem, a Plexiglas filter was placed in front of the
beams. The actors took eye drops and wore special glasses for a few days to recuperate. After filming in a particularly unsanitary ditch (for the first tornado chase scene, in which Bill and Jo are forced to shelter from an approaching F1 tornado under a short bridge), Hunt and Paxton needed hepatitis shots. During the same sequence, Hunt repeatedly hit her head on a low wooden bridge, so exhausted from the demanding shoot that she stood up so quickly her head struck a beam. During one stunt in which Hunt opened the door of a vehicle speeding through a cornfield, she momentarily let go of the door and it struck her on the side of the head. Some sources claim she received a concussion in the incident. De Bont said, "I love Helen to death, but you know, she can be also a little bit clumsy. " She responded, "Clumsy? The guy burned my retinas, but I'm clumsy ... I thought I was a good sport. I don't know ultimately if Jan chalks me up as that or not, but one would hope so". To simulate the high speed winds that occurs during a tornado and Ritter fans weren’t enough special effects Legend John Frazier and his effects crew (the real heroes of this production) procured some jet engines from a Boeing 707 and mounted them to flatbed trailer! This crew pulled off some pretty epic stuff on this one from dropping tractors from cranes and helicopters to driving a truck thru the facade of a tumbling house! The instrument package used in the movie, "Dorothy", is an homage to the instrument pack real tornado researchers attempt to place in the paths of tornadoes, "T.O.T.O.". Lois Smith's character is reading Dante Alighieri's Inferno when the twister hits Wakita. The book also features a tornado in the second circle of Hell that punishes people ruled by Lust. After the team leaves Wakita, there is a seemingly impossible helicopter shot in which the camera descends several hundred feet in a matter of seconds, ending up mere feet from Jonas's convoy. This was achieved by having the cars drive slower than usual and then speeding up the film. A recording of a camel's moan was slowed down and used as the sound of the tornado. Although Amblin Entertainment has collaborated with both Warner Bros. and Universal on many occasions (Amblin co-founder Steven Spielberg directed films for both studios), as of 2014, this film marks the only time Amblin collaborated with both studios on the same film. The real town of Wakita, Oklahoma had part of its old downtown area demolished by the film crew for the scenes after the twister passes. The studio then paid for the downtown to be rebuilt. The town also kept the new fire truck used in the film De Bont insisted on using multiple cameras, which led to the exposure of 1,300,000 feet (400,000 m) of film, compared to the usual maximum of 300,000 feet (91,000 m). The 35mm short ends were used to shoot Jon Favreau’s SWINGERS. pre production in Oklahoma was briefly delayed due to the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City on April 19, 1995. Many of the crew went to the site to help with recovery efforts. This was the first movie released on DVD, and the last released on HD-DVD. After Bill Paxton died, Spotter Network choreographed 200 storm chasers to spell out "BP" with their GPS tracker blips on a radar display to honor him. This kind of tribute had only been done five times before, and it was the first time it had been done for someone who wasn't a storm chaser. A special Thank you to every crew member that endured this production, you were deep in the suck and it was worth it! These kinds of popcorn movies inspired many of us to pursue a career in the filmmaking process.

How the Falcons can still upend the NFC playoff race
The 3-7 Falcons have upset two teams in a row, and they could shake things up in the NFC playoff race.
The Atlanta Falcons’ 2019 season isn’t exactly going as expected. Their firepower on offense paired with a ton of talent on defense had them as a potential sleeper Super Bowl pick heading into the year. But we’re more than halfway through the NFL season, and the Falcons are just 3-7.
The good news though is that they’ve found some rhythm and are now officially playing the role of spoiler in the NFL. In the last two weeks, the Falcons have upset the Saints and the Panthers to disrupt the NFC South race.
That turnaround is a surprise, given that just a few weeks ago head coach Dan Quinn was expected to be fired at the end of the year, if not before. While he still might be headed for the unemployment line, the Falcons are finally looking like the team we thought’d they be all season.
So what’s changed?
Atlanta’s defense has majorly stepped it up the last couple of weeks.
The biggest difference is the defense has been getting after the quarterback a lot better than it was earlier in the season.
Before Week 10, the Falcons only had seven sacks all season. Then, they sacked Drew Brees six times, with Grady Jarrett recording 2.5 of them. That continued in Week 11 against the Panthers as the Atlanta got to Kyle Allen five times. Adrian Clayborn had two of those, while Takkarist McKinley registered his first full sack of the season.
Sunday was also a turning point for another problem that had been plaguing the Falcons’ defense: its inability to create turnovers. Coming into the week, the defense had forced an NFL-low four turnovers. Against the Panthers, it picked off Allen four times.
In the last two games, Atlanta’s defense hasn’t allowed a touchdown either — only the fifth time in franchise history it’s done so. The defense was giving up an average of 31 points per game before then and has averaged 6 points per game in back-to-back wins. The Falcons also outscored the Saints and Panthers by a combined score of 55-12.
Part of the defensive improvement might be the coaching changes Quinn has made. After the team’s bye week on Nov. 3, the Falcons announced that Raheem Morris, who was coaching the receivers, would move over to work with the defensive backs. The switch made sense, considering Morris has spent many years of his career coaching secondaries. Then news broke that Quinn, who was calling the defensive himself, delegated the defensive playcalling to Jeff Ulbrich and Morris.
In the last two weeks, those moves seem to have paid off; the defense looks like a completely different unit. However, cornerback Isaiah Oliver insists things are just working better for the defense later in the season.
“Defensively, we have the same players on the field, we’re calling the same calls we have been calling, running the same defense — it’s just working better, honestly,” Oliver told reporters after the Panthers win. “Guys are communicating more and getting to the ball quicker. But in terms of the schemes, everything is the same.”
Meanwhile, Matt Ryan and the Falcons’ offense have been productive recently, too. Ryan has thrown for 493 yards and three touchdowns over the last two weeks, and receivers Calvin Ridley and Julio Jones are each averaging around 85 yards per game in that time span.
The one area that could use some improvement is in the Falcons’ running game. While it has had to deal with injuries to running backs Devonta Freeman and Ito Smith, the Falcons have just four rushing touchdowns all season, and they’re averaging just 3.6 yards per play on the ground.
The Falcons are a long shot to make the playoffs, but they can be a spoiler.
The Falcons have three home games against the Bucs, Saints, and Panthers before traveling to San Francisco to play the 49ers on Dec. 15. Atlanta then ends its schedule with a home game against Jacksonville and a game on the road against the Bucs. The Panthers, Saints, and especially 49ers losing to the Falcons could shake up the playoff seedings, both in the NFC and wild card standings.
Here’s a look at the current NFC playoff seedings:
49ers (9-1)
Packers (8-2)
Saints (8-2)
Cowboys (6-4)
Seahawks (8-2)
Vikings (8-3)
In the hunt: Rams (6-4), Eagles (5-5), Panthers (5-5), Bears (4-6), Lions (3-6-1), Cardinals (3-7-1), Falcons (3-7)
The conference as a whole is a lot more top-heavy than in previous years, too:
NFC teams with 8+ wins thru Week 11 2019 - 5 2018 - 2 2017 - 3 2016 - 1 2015 - 2 2014 - 1 2013 - 2 2012 - 1 2011 - 2 2010 - 1 2009 - 2 2008 - 2 2007 - 2 2006 - 1 2005 - 1 2004 - 2 2003 - 1 2002 - 2 It's never been like this at the top in this era.
— Scott Kacsmar (@ScottKacsmar) November 18, 2019
The Falcons have eight teams in front of them in the wild card race, so them making the postseason doesn’t look too likely, but it’s not impossible. Their best bet would be to win the division, which doesn’t look all that easier either.
Here’s a look at the current NFC South standings:
Saints (8-2)
Panthers (5-5)
Falcons (3-7)
Tampa Bay (3-7)
Still, they can try to ruin things for their rivals, whether that’s keeping the Saints from a first-round bye or keeping the Panthers out of the playoffs altogether.
The one downside to Atlanta winning is it moves the team further down the draft board. The Falcons are still in contention for a top-10 pick, at least right now. But even if they win two more games, they’re likely to miss out on a can’t-miss prospect like Ohio State defensive end Chase Young.
That’s not on the players’ mind, though. The consecutive wins have the Falcons feeling good. Cornerback Desmond Trufant talked after the game about keeping the momentum going:
✌️ division wins and we're not done yet. pic.twitter.com/WXAaybByWK
— Atlanta Falcons (@AtlantaFalcons) November 17, 2019
This season obviously hasn’t been ideal for the Falcons, but beating their remaining NFC South opponents — most importantly, the Saints and Panthers again — would be a decent end to a disappointing year. Even if they don’t make the playoffs, playing spoiler wouldn’t be a bad alternative.

Easy Hamburger Vegetable Soup
So. School has started. After school activities have started. My oldest and youngest are in a local production of The Little Mermaid (and the oldest is Flounder, so he’s at every rehearsal.) And I’m just so. freaking. tired. All the time. We’re hitting up the drive-thru more than we should and I think all of us have just been craving something hearty and healthy and homemade. Something with vegetables that are not French fries. I had a fridge and freezer full of good intentions that needed to be used up, so I started throwing stuff into this Easy Hamburger Vegetable Soup and it turned out to be exactly what we needed.
We all felt better (physically AND emotionally!) after eating this. And the beauty of this recipe is that you can customize it depending on your preferences and what you need to use up. Need to use up some ground beef or have it waiting in your freezer?
Use that! Have some leftover pot roast? Use that instead of hamburger! Zucchini? Yellow squash? Bell peppers? Celery? Spinach? Use them!
It freezes beautifully and tastes even better the next day. And before you ask, yes, that is 1/4 cup of chopped garlic. It will be bring you nothing but happiness.
Another great thing about this recipe is that you can make it on the stovetop (about 45 minutes start to finish), in the Crock Pot, or in the Instant Pot, whatever is most convenient for you! ALSO. It only has 4 Weight Watchers Freestyle Points!

Description
A healthy, comforting beef vegetable soup that can be easily made on weeknights! To make things even more convenient, you can either make it in the Crock Pot or the Instant Pot!
Ingredients
1 pound extra-lean ground beef (90% or leaner)* 1 large onion, minced 1/4 cup minced garlic 3-4 medium carrots, peeled and chopped 8 ounces sliced mushrooms (you can chop half or all of them to hide them) 1 1/2 tablespoons Italian seasoning Salt & pepper to taste 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce 1/2 + teaspoon Tabasco sauce 1 teaspoon sugar (optional) 1 28-ounce can crushed tomatoes 1 16-ounce can tomato sauce 1 cup water** 1-2 tablespoons red wine vinegar (start with 1 and add more if your soup needs a little more kick)** 1 box (4 cups; 2 cans) of beef broth 1 pound baby potatoes, cut into bite-sized pieces 1 12-ounce package frozen cut green beans 1 12-ounce package frozen corn
*You can substitute 1 pound leftover, chopped pot roast for the hamburger if you’d like. Sauté the onions, garlic, carrots, and mushrooms, but you don’t need to sauté the meat.
**If you enjoy cooking with wine, you can replace the water and red wine vinegar with 1 cup of red wine. Don’t use cooking wine–it’s too salty.
Instructions
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. When hot, add onions, garlic, and carrots and sauté for 1-2 minutes or until the onions are fragrant and begin to soften. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking down the meat, until the meat is about halfway cooked. Add mushrooms, Italian seasoning, Worcestershire Sauce, Tabasco Sauce, and season with salt and pepper.
When the beef is done cooking, turn heat up to medium-high and allow the juices to cook off. Add the water and vinegar (or red wine, if you prefer) and stir to combine. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, and potatoes. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium and cook for about 10 minutes. Add the corn and beans and then continue to simmer until the potatoes are fork tender. Season with salt and pepper (you may need to add quite a bit of salt if you use reduced sodium beef broth.) Serve with rolls or bread.
