I love ur Richonne post. My question is, who do u think is the strongest (not just physically but also mentally) female twd character? Who had the arc in the female category? What is one thing u wished TOWL would have expanded on?

Thank you! And my answer would be Michonne hands down. Along with her physical and mental strength, I also think she is the most well-rounded character in the show as well. I’ve always felt that pretty much any admirable trait another TWD character has (heart, resilience, leadership, grit, intelligence, kindness, strength, gentleness, selflessness, warmth, etc.) Michonne has it as well with her own personal and elevated spin on it too. And while some women in the show had more drastic arcs and transformations, I really love Michonne’s arc from being introduced as a lone wolf to becoming a leader/wife/mother. 

That’s a good question about what I wish they had expanded on in TOWL. They already gave me so much of what I wanted to see. But I did think of two things that would have been nice to dive into more, even tho these things I list are more just because I’d want to see it rather than feeling like TOWL was missing something without it. I wrote them out below ⬇️ 💗:

#1: I’d love to have seen how Rick first described Michonne and Judith to the portraitist Benjiro. I’m so curious about the details Rick gave about his wife and daughter to the artist. Plus, I remember when Michonne was talking to Ezekiel in season 10, it was such a pleasant surprise to hear her voice an external trait she loved and missed about Rick when she smiled and said “that walk.” I loved getting insight into one of the physical things she found attractive about Rick. And in TOWL, I would have loved to hear Rick also voice a physical trait he found attractive about Michonne too. Of course, through every look and action, it’s made more than clear that he’s extremely attracted to her, so I’d love if we got to hear him comment on her beauty when describing her.

#2: Since there was a pretty big time jump after the bridge for both Rick and Michonne, I would have been interested to hear them both expand more on what that time was like for them during those first 6 years apart and especially in the days directly after the bridge explosion. Including things like Michonne sharing when/how she found out she was pregnant and about the day she gave birth to RJ and just how that time was for her emotionally. And for Rick, hearing him share about his initial recovery process and early escapes when he arrived at the Civic Republic.

BUT i thought ab what their majors would be just because i love silly ‘insignificant’ details like this and i want to share bc im spiraling since im coming so close to begin posting and i wanna tell people my thought process so bad SOO hyuck is going into music education TO BE A MUSIC TEACHER, jeno is doing architecture, jaemin in premed, renjun in multimedia arts BUT he does pottery, and painting and photography the most, yangyang in communication and business bc im imagining him to be an “influencer”, and giselle and y/n are both in humanities type majors like psychology and sociology

been left to my own devices for too long and now i can't stop thinking about what i think worked in season 1 and what i want to happen in season 2.....

although i didn't like everything in the first season, i think that almost makes it more interesting. the show and the books are a dish best served together, where one falls short i often find the other one picks up the slack, highlighting and complimenting each other really well.

imo wot on prime is a really strong advocate for adaptations being willing to make big changes to the source material in order to either a) make the fans reconsider the work by making them see it in a new way b) changing things so long as u stay true the "spirit" of the original (hard to pin down and not everyone will agree, but im gay and moiraine ruled so they did it lol)

context established, i think one of the things ive found most disappointing in the books is how moiraine's family reveal is handled. rj kind of tees up the idea, u see mat and some of the others kind of figure she has to be highborn somehow, but he doesn't really resolve any of this just suddenly everyone knows she's a damodred despite it being a massive deal in terms of um. house damodred's role in the entire narrative history of the world up until that point

i literally couldn't stop giggling bc i assumed nynaeve specifically was going to like. capital m MURDER her murder her lmao. bc it felt like by lying by omission abt her own origin it was just one more way moiraine lied (aes sedai voice "mislead" moiraine voice "gaslight") to the two rivers kids in order to lead them into danger without potentially necessary information. maybe it was a less obviously dangerous manipulation, but to me it def reads as a straw that could very much break a braid pulling camels back

and it also feels like such a missed opportunity not to really tie in elayne to the whole thing? moiraine and her are literally related, even if their actual relationship is not super close (almost MORE interesting), and (not to get too off on my Grand Moiraine Parallel Theory) she and moiraine have a lot of Grand Parallels lol. at most obvious and most unaddressed, i think it would be smart to tackle the whole "we both have half brothers we have a touchy relationship with" thing but also i think it's really interesting to think about how they are both characters who kind of push thru others to make what they want happen but elayne has managed to wrap the quality up in some level of (obviously imperious) charm while moiraine is just. iconically off-putting lmao

tldr i hope the show is wayyyyyy more confrontational about it!!! i want yelling i want devastating speeches!!!

My eyes watch Judith and RJ run and play, smiles on their lips and laughter ringing around us as I chuckle, clasping my hands in my lap as I sit down on the porch. My heart feels heavy watching them interact and run around, heartbroken that my brother missed watching his children grow up and heartbroken that my Carl didn't get the chance to play and grow with them.

"Hey." I turn to see Michonne with a smile on her lips, my smile not reaching my eyes as she sighs, sitting down beside me, knowing that today is a hard day for me. "It's nice to see that they still get to be kids." I nod, watching Jude lift RJ into her arms and spin him around, the boy cackling as his head tosses back.

"Have you heard from Daryl?" I ask, already knowing the answer as she shakes her head, her lips tugging down into a frown as I run my fingers through my hair. "He's probably fine." She rubs up and down my back soothingly as she leans towards me, resting her head on my shoulder.

"You know he is." Her voice is reassuring and comforting as my heart beat mellows out, the anxiety subsiding but the sadness, the loneliness, sticks. "Do you miss him?"

"More than anything but I'm still angry he left." I whisper, my mind thinking back on the months that I've spent alone while Daryl is out there, who knows where. Sleeping without him next to me, going on runs without him, forgetting he's not there and making enough food for the two of us, only to eat alone and give the leftovers away.

The sound of the gate doors opening has my skin crawling, goosebumps erupting as my brows furrow. RJ and Jude already making their way to it as it creaks, my mind coming up with a million different reasons why it's open. No one was on a run and no one is planned to go out on a run, so who could it be? My heart stops in my chest as Michonne and I rise to our feet, making our way quickly towards the open doors as one person steps into Alexandria.

My heart stops in my chest as Judith throws herself into his arm as he kneels, tugging RJ to him almost immediately. I turn to Michonne with wide, teary eyes, unable to believe what I'm seeing right in front of me.

"Is that-"

"It's Daryl." I mutter, allowing Michonne to slip her arm around mine, leading me towards Daryl as he sets Judith down, ruffling her hair. A dog sits politely at his side, my brows furrowed at the animal, not expecting anything out there in the world to be this domesticated, the pups eyes looking obediently up at Daryl.

Daryl sees Michonne first, a soft smile spreading across his lips but then he sees me, his shoulders drooping a bit as his smile turns a bit more sad. My jaw grits as we step up to him, Michonne immediately wrapping her arms around his chest as I fold my arms, my eyes not leaving his.

"Hey." He nods at me, biting nervously at the inside of his cheek as my brows raise, almost saying 'is that all you have to say to me?' He just blows out a breath, looking to Michonne for assistance but she offers nothing. She just takes Judith's hand and scoops RJ up into her arms, sending me one more kind look before walking away.

"Why're you here?" I ask, eyes dipping lower than his as I shuffle my feet. A beat of silence goes by before he clears his throat, stepping towards me hesitantly.

"Thought it was time." His voice is low, hands clasped around his crossbow as my eyes flicker up to him, anger coursing through my veins as he sighs, face falling at the sight of me upset.

"Wow, only took years."

"I know your pissed-" He starts but my hand quickly slaps across his cheek, everyone in ten feet of us gasping and freezing in their places. My bottom lip wobbles as I sniffle, his eyes are wide and shocked as I grit.

"You left me and you didn’t even think twice about it." I hiss, stepping back from him as he looks away from me in shame. "You don't get to come back here and have the luxury of me waiting for you to come home."

so full disclaimer that I know we're missing tons of context and this will make more sense on the actual full episodes LOL but something I observed in some of the conversations that I want to point out;

"You wanted her" doesn't strictly imply (to me) that the baby trap is reversed. Their entire relationship is founded on coercion and (at least in the books) Lestat manipulates him the entire time they're together. For him to say that doesn't necessarily make it true, in fact it really tracks with me as something he'd say to gaslight Louis. Even the voiceover of Louis saying he wanted to save her, I don't think that strictly implies a switch. Also because we still see Lestat is the one who turned her. There's a huge gap in logic between "I want to save her" and "I want her to be damned for eternity just like me" so there''s plenty of room for Lestat to use this as an opportunity to manipulate Louis again. "Whelp, sorry babe, I cannot save her, but we can turn her! :D" which is how it happened in the book, too. Only here it looks like she is brought to the brink of death by a fire and not Louis's desperate hunger.

SO MAYBE THEY SWITCHED IT IDK but I don't think those lines prove it yet. It's very much something Lestat would say as a manipulation.

The other thing I'm seeing is a lot of people making fun of Louis for the "You took my life!" line and saying like, WAT R U TALKIN ABOUT LOUIS! YOU ASKED FOR IT! and again , like. The entire idea in the novel was that he was too fucked up and not in a state of mind to truly consent, that Lestat coerced him, and that once he became a vampire he was in way over his head and didn't realize what he'd been submitting to.

I know RJ said that in this version they get more of a courtship, that Lestat wants to make sure Louis loves him and wants it, so this has some wiggle room. But there's some clues also in how Louis tells the interviewer "I was being hunted" and how he was seduced. He has 100+ years of hindsight at this point and still thinks of himself as Lestat's prey, I find that important! The "You took my life!" accusation can always come back to the way Lestat instigated this situation by preying on him, even if Louis eventually agreed to be turned.

I get that it's a little silly to get in the weeds about teasers haha AND WE ARE SO CLOSE TO JUST WATCHING IT FOR OURSELVES but I found both of these conversations interesting and I saw them popping up a lot after the last trailer & the Claudia teaser.

Gareth bryne hate anon here lol. Yes individually his character is rn just like whatever to me but his relationship with siuan is just gross. Siuans arc with living without her powers is interesting to me but i am so annoyed with a) her looking like a young woman/girl instead her age (hate that trope) and b) her fucking relationship. Nothing i despise more than their dymamic with her being forced to serve him and then him being interested in her which compels him to keep her in service etc etc... like literally vomiting why jordan why 🤢🤢

And yes to all min conversation!! In foh u really notice how different her narration is compared to for example nynaeve and elayne. They will miss and think about lan and rand as is normal and fine, but they have their own like arcs and things that interest them and drive them and shit. Like elayne wants to go help rand and be with rand but she will not let that thought drive all her behaviour. They also develop relationships with characters around them, friendships, allies, enemies etc. Which was so jarring compared to when reading mins pov like she was so detached from everything siuan/leane/logain were doing, didnt have anything else to drive her behaviour except for rand. She has such interesting power too and she just like doesnt give a shit 😂

haha i don't mind at all i love this rant, we are totally on the same page! ugh yeah siuan visibly de-aging when she was stilled made me SO mad!! i feel like if anything she should've looked older and closer to her true age now that the aes sedai agelessness has been stripped away. aes sedai agelessness in and of itself annoys me, i feel like it's this fantasy of "powerful older women but they actually look young and hot" although i will say that it's been a relevant plot point many times that there's a way to visibly recognize an aes sedai and they have trouble hiding who they are. also hate the whole "aes sedai don't marry because few men would be into a woman who's more powerful than them" like if rj wanted it to be a thing that aes sedai don't marry, he could've just said that aes sedai are so wholly focused on their duties that they have no interest in marriage, or that aes sedai aren't allowed to marry because the white tower made a rule, and i would've been fine with that. and i feel like siuan getting her romance only after losing her powers feeds into the idea in a way i hate, like she's not allowed to fall in love until she's put in a position where the man in question is more powerful than her.

and yes to everything about min! when their love interests aren't currently with them, nynaeve and elayne think about them like 5-10% of the time and min is a solid 95% and i am not exaggerating. you're so right she truly does not seem to give a shit about siuan, leane, or logain or what any of them are trying to accomplish, she's just looking for a way to get back to rand. she has no relationships with other characters, i cannot list a single friend min has except for elayne (which is more told to us than shown, as they have very little screentime together). she DOES have a cool power that could've been used to affect the plot and/or her character arc in a meaningful way, but no! her sole goal in life is to make rand love her! especially frustrating when compared to how layered and three-dimensional the other female characters are and how many goals and ambitions they all have. but min truly is just rand's sexy lamp.
