Money in Astrology
Hey yall! I’m back today with a new post that’s going to discuss all things about your money! Yes, you can use astrology to help better your financials and what you can do to live a comfortable life that suits you!
To understand your money situation, you need 3 different charts to look at, Look at this like a cake, there’s 3 charts which means 3 layers:
First layer is your Natal Chart: this is the base on how to gain money. It’s the abilities you were born with and what you’ve learned from past lives
2nd layer is your Progessed chart: this is the 2nd layer to how to gain money. Progressed chart is the stage you are in life currently
3rd layer is your Solar Return Chart: this is the final layer to gain money. Solar return aka “your birthday” is the overall energy of that year for you.
The frosting of the cake is you putting this all together.
For one example: let’s say in your natal chart you have a Gemini 2h, Progressed has Cancer 2h and Solar has Aquarius 2h. Let’s put it all together.
So let’s say you’re a writer for a journalism company because Gemini rules over writing and Journalism. This is what you were naturally drawn to do to make a living. Now let’s say 10 years has passed by and now your 2h is in Cancer in your progressed chart. You’re still a writer because that’s still your natal placement, but now you want shift things up so instead of working for a company, you work from home (Cancer 2h)writing from a blog/website you created, something like Patreon. Instead of the regular 9-5, you make your own money but still doing what you original love which is writing. Now let’s say you want to know how your upcoming year financial will be. So you see you have an Aquarius 2h in your solar return chart which is perfect if you have an internet type of job that you’re trying to grow. Aquarius rules online and groups of people so your subscribers may grow that year which means more money.
Now planets in the 2h, and aspects if you have planets in the 2h influence this as well. Like if you have Aquarius moon in the 2h, you may feel alienated from you family during this time because you’re so focused on your blog. Your subscribers may start to feel more like family to you etc.
I know that was a long example but I want you all to really understand how to interpret this in your own lives and charts. I have Virgo 3h so I’m all about the details 🤪
Now that we got what kind of charts to look for and how to interpret them, let’s discuss what to actually look for in these charts!
1. The 2nd House + Planets in the 2h(if you have any), if not look for the 2h ruler + planetary degrees and house degrees (if your using Placidus house system)
-the 2h rules over physical money in general so this is is where you first look to get an idea to see what you can do to make it. This house is where you will start to build your wealth. 2h also rules over our values and assets. How you value and see money based on your upbringing can be seen here as well.
2. The House where Taurus rules in your charts
-Taurus rules the 2h naturally so wherever it rules in your charts, that’s an area where you can make money from as well.
3. Your Venus sign + degree + house placement + aspects to Venus
-Venus rules over money because it rules over Taurus. So even if you don’t know what to do by just looking at your 2h or Taurus house, look at your Venus placement
4. The 8th house. Use the same process for this house as you did the the 2h.
-the 8h is the opposite of the 2h. The 2h is physical money but the 8h is the power of money. It’s how you use your money in your life. 8h also rules other people money such as your partner. You can gain money through inheritance, you can have lots of debts too. 8h rules over loans as well.
5. Scorpio. Use the same process as Venus
-Scorpio is ruled by modern ruler Pluto and traditional ruler Mars. Pluto means “wealth” . I personally think it shows the power of wealth. Mars rules over action, Passionate and drive. You can make money and build wealth by using your Scorpio placements and house. What are you passionate about, what the thing that lights your soul on fire? That’s what you can make money from. Scorpio rules over alchemy, you can turn your passion into a goldmine. Money can change and end lives which is very Scorpio energy
6. 11th house
-not many people talk about the 11th house when it comes to money but it does play a role. It rules over “collected wealth” because it’s what you’ve been saving during your working career years. Using derivative houses (counting the houses) STARTING from the 10th house, it’s 2 spaces away from the 11h. So 10, 11=2 because we only counted 2 spaces over. The 2 represents the 2h.
If you’re confused about the derivative house method, go to my pinned post and scroll to learning tools and scroll down to derivative astrology post to get a better idea.
-The 11h also rules over connections and networking. You can literally make money based off of who you know and who knows you.
7. The house Aquarius sits
-like I said above, Aquarius rules over groups of people and networking. We are in a digital age now so making money off the internet is easy to do now compared to 20 years ago when technology was just coming up. Social media influencer is an actual career now that comes with lots privileges if you stick with it and meet the right people. Also look and see where Uranus and Saturn sits because aqua is ruled by both of these planets.
Thank you all for reading and if you need a birth chart, I’m open to help ya! Look at my pinned post for more details

just me complaining
.....
I know no one really uses Quotev anymore, however, I've been on that cite since like 2013. I wrote my first fanfic on it, I made my first character on it, I roleplayed with people on it. And Quotev is making it impossible to roleplay now, which is what nearly everyone on there was actually doing. It used to be you could search for groups and join them and roleplay with people. They got rid of the search function for groups for Quotev, and you then had to ask people if they knew about groups, and if they could link it to you. There were entire groups that were made JUST so you could find people to roleplay with. Those got deleted.
My friend @foreverdolly and I met on that website by roleplaying. We've been roleplaying and have been friends since december of 2020. And I am forever grateful for the opprotunity to have her as my friend. But our first roleplay was deleted by admin over a year ago. There was nothing innappropriate on it. There was no warning or anything. I went to go reread while at the DMV and it was just gone. That was hours and hours of work that was gone and that we never had the option to save.
When I asked dolly if she had potentially deleted it ( i had seriously doubted it, but the group had belonged to her and I wanted to be sure ) She told me she hadn't and she went onto the site and noticed how some of her journal entries on the site had also been deleted, including character forms.
Since then, dolly and I have been roleplaying in shared google docs because we don't trust Quotev to not delete our things.
They're now completely getting rid of groups and direct messaging come the first of July. They just got rid of the 'chat' feature where you could chat with your mutuals that were currently online, as well as the 'recent activity' page, which used to be my deafault home screen on the site, where I could see what other people were sharing or creating. I'm worried they'll also get rid of the journals feature, where ALL of my characters are ( even characters inspired by my fanfics ) so I'm currently in the very long process of transferring all of my characters and active roleplays with another friend of mine to google docs in order to save everything.
It's really dissappointing because as they've made these changes over the years, they've been destroying their own cite, and pushing their userbase off. I don't use the cite for anything else except for character forms or roleplaying. I used to use the cite everyday in middle and high school, where I would be in science or social studies and all I could think about was how I was going to reply to my walking dead roleplay. It was large portion of my childhood, and so much of the work I have put into being creative with others will be deleted without any input from me and others like me.
Part of the allure of roleplaying for me, was the ability to be creative. Making characters, and forms, and making the forms look aesthetically pleasing, and then creating a storyline with ANOTHER person and building bonds with that person.
Idk, whatever the internet equivalent is of your childhood home being gutted and remodeled by millenial house flippers is what I am currently feeling.

elsewhere on the internet: AI and advertising
Bubble Trouble (about AIs trained on AI output and the impending model collapse) (Ed Zitron, Mar 2024)
A Wall Street Journal piece from this week has sounded the alarm that some believe AI models will run out of "high-quality text-based data" within the next two years in what an AI researcher called "a frontier research problem." Modern AI models are trained by feeding them "publicly-available" text from the internet, scraped from billions of websites (everything from Wikipedia to Tumblr, to Reddit), which the model then uses to discern patterns and, in turn, answer questions based on the probability of an answer being correct. Theoretically, the more training data that these models receive, the more accurate their responses will be, or at least that's what the major AI companies would have you believe. Yet AI researcher Pablo Villalobos told the Journal that he believes that GPT-5 (OpenAI's next model) will require at least five times the training data of GPT-4. In layman's terms, these machines require tons of information to discern what the "right" answer to a prompt is, and "rightness" can only be derived from seeing lots of examples of what "right" looks like. ... One (very) funny idea posed by the Journal's piece is that AI companies are creating their own "synthetic" data to train their models, a "computer-science version of inbreeding" that Jathan Sadowski calls Habsburg AI. This is, of course, a terrible idea. A research paper from last year found that feeding model-generated data to models creates "model collapse" — a "degenerative learning process where models start forgetting improbable events over time as the model becomes poisoned with its own projection of reality."
...
The AI boom has driven global stock markets to their best first quarter in 5 years, yet I fear that said boom is driven by a terrifyingly specious and unstable hype cycle. The companies benefitting from AI aren't the ones integrating it or even selling it, but those powering the means to use it — and while "demand" is allegedly up for cloud-based AI services, every major cloud provider is building out massive data center efforts to capture further demand for a technology yet to prove its necessity, all while saying that AI isn't actually contributing much revenue at all. Amazon is spending nearly $150 billion in the next 15 years on data centers to, and I quote Bloomberg, "handle an expected explosion in demand for artificial intelligence applications" as it tells its salespeople to temper their expectations of what AI can actually do. I feel like a crazy person every time I read glossy pieces about AI "shaking up" industries only for the substance of the story to be "we use a coding copilot and our HR team uses it to generate emails." I feel like I'm going insane when I read about the billions of dollars being sunk into data centers, or another headline about how AI will change everything that is mostly made up of the reporter guessing what it could do.
They're Looting the Internet (Ed Zitron, Apr 2024)
An investigation from late last year found that a third of advertisements on Facebook Marketplace in the UK were scams, and earlier in the year UK financial services authorities said it had banned more than 10,000 illegal investment ads across Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and TikTok in 2022 — a 1,500% increase over the previous year. Last week, Meta revealed that Instagram made an astonishing $32.4 billion in advertising revenue in 2021. That figure becomes even more shocking when you consider Google's YouTube made $28.8 billion in the same period . Even the giants haven’t resisted the temptation to screw their users. CNN, one of the most influential news publications in the world, hosts both its own journalism and spammy content from "chum box" companies that make hundreds of millions of dollars driving clicks to everything from scams to outright disinformation. And you'll find them on CNN, NBC and other major news outlets, which by proxy endorse stories like "2 Steps To Tell When A Slot Is Close To Hitting The Jackpot." These “chum box” companies are ubiquitous because they pay well, making them an attractive proposition for cash-strapped media entities that have seen their fortunes decline as print revenues evaporated. But they’re just so incredibly awful. In 2018, the (late, great) podcast Reply All had an episode that centered around a widower whose wife’s death had been hijacked by one of these chum box advertisers to push content that, using stolen family photos, heavily implied she had been unfaithful to him. The title of the episode — An Ad for the Worst Day of your Life — was fitting, and it was only until a massively popular podcast intervened did these networks ban the advert. These networks are harmful to the user experience, and they’re arguably harmful to the news brands that host them. If I was working for a major news company, I’d be humiliated to see my work juxtaposed with specious celebrity bilge, diet scams, and get-rich-quick schemes.
...
While OpenAI, Google and Meta would like to claim that these are "publicly-available" works that they are "training on," the actual word for what they're doing is "stealing." These models are not "learning" or, let's be honest, "training" on this data, because that's not how they work — they're using mathematics to plagiarize it based on the likelihood that somebody else's answer is the correct one. If we did this as a human being — authoritatively quoting somebody else's figures without quoting them — this would be considered plagiarism, especially if we represented the information as our own. Generative AI allows you to generate lots of stuff from a prompt, allowing you to pretend to do the research much like LLMs pretend to know stuff. It's good for cheating at papers, or generating lots of mediocre stuff LLMs also tend to hallucinate, a virtually-unsolvable problem where they authoritatively make incorrect statements that creates horrifying results in generative art and renders them too unreliable for any kind of mission critical work. Like I’ve said previously, this is a feature, not a bug. These models don’t know anything — they’re guessing, based on mathematical calculations, as to the right answer. And that means they’ll present something that feels right, even though it has no basis in reality. LLMs are the poster child for Stephen Colbert’s concept of truthiness.

Five Nights at Freddy's: Obsolete, Night 18: Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex
''Time to let go, time to move on. Time to let go, time to move on. It's you and me, rebuilding our mistakes. It's hard to see, what's real and what is fake. I'll take a chance, decisions that I make. Decisions that I make are in my hands. I'm all alone, alone when I'm with you. I'm breaking down, I see that you are too. It's all the same, I'll make you something new. I'll make you something new!''
– Time To Move On by NateWantsToBattle (Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach)
xXxXxXx
Sam took a deep breath as she stood before the entrance to the Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex. She couldn't help but feel really nervous about entering it, to the point of wondering whether this whole thing was even a good idea. She took a deep breath, feeling a presence beside her and glancing at Springtrap.
''I'm surprised that you're not giving some kind of pep talk about going inside and investigating. Why are you so reluctant?'' he asked.
''I suppose it's because I'm trying to be careful instead of being reckless, especially considering all of our previous adventures that either ended up with us getting into trouble or myself getting hurt,'' Sam replied. Springtrap rose an eyebrow, folding his arms.
''Who are you and what have you done with Sam?'' he asked. Sam just rolled her eyes.
''You know, you aren't the only one who has changed over the past months,'' she told him. ''Now, we're here with a purpose.''
''Right,'' Springtrap responded, nodding in solemn acknowledgement and gazing at the huge building before him.
Rather than being a simple family-style pizzeria restaurant, Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex was a large, three-story tall family entertainment center, fit with various attractions typical of such an establishment. Some of those attractions had their information uploaded on the official website, but Springtrap suspected that they would see a lot more than what Fazbear Entertainment put up. Above the entrance to the building was a neon sign with the words ''FREDDY FAZBEAR'S MEGA PIZZAPLEX'' written on it and showcasing the new generation of animatronics: Glamrock Freddy Fazbear, Glamrock Bonnie, Glamrock Chica and Roxanne Wolf. Below were the windows, also showcasing the new generation of animatronics, with the words ''COME BACK SOON!'' written beneath them.
Springtrap then glanced back at Sam, who was still staring at the building reluctantly. To an onlooker, this place didn't appear to be special at all, just another attempt at cashing-in on the old franchise that should've been dead and forgotten by now. However, to Sam and Springtrap, this was a place where past and present clashed with each other. It was a place of mystery and intrigue, and under the colourful mascots, a place of tragedy and murder.
''Shall we?'' Springtrap asked, with Sam nodding. Both entered the building through the front entrance, having left the car they had borrowed from Emma at the nearby parking lot.
The moment they entered the lobby, both Sam and Springtrap were blown away by just how huge the Pizzaplex truly was. Of course, they knew this place as the Machinations Factory and they had been inside several times, roaming through the seemingly endless corridors and rooms, so they had an idea of how bih the building actually was. However, stepping into the Pizzaplex felt like stepping into another reality.
They were greeted by a massive golden Glamrock Freddy statue holding a microphone stand, surrounded by palm trees that served as decorations, as well as there being stairs behind the statue. To the left and to the right were the entrances to the ground floor attractions, all of which were illuminated with neon lights and had screens showcasing the Glamrocks scattered around. Sam gaped at everything before her, at all the lights, signs and decorations, trying to take everything in and process what she just saw.
''I will admit, Fazbear Entertainment had really outdone themselves this time,'' Springtrap said, having been just as impressed as Sam at what he saw. If this was the entrance, then what was awaiting them further inside the building?
''Hi! Please take this map.''
Sam screamed when suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere, a robot popped up; a humanoid robot wearing glasses and a white hat, and its chestpiece was entirely yellow, with a black lowercase ''i'' printed in the middle, their lower half including two small storage folds, which contained maps. Sam stared at it apprehensively, while Springtrap's gaze was more aggressive protective due to Sam's reaction.
''Take a map,'' the robot told her dutifully, offering what seemed to be a map of the Pizzaplex. Sam stared at the robot for a moment, her heart racing due to the earlier scare, before finally reaching for the map.
''I… thanks,'' she muttered, still wondering what just happened. The robot then rolled away on its wheels, leaving the two. ''What the hell was that all about?!''
''I believe that this is what the future of the Fazbear Franchise looks like. That wasn't a normal animatronic,'' Springtrap replied. ''It looks more like it was mass-produced, given it's more simple appearance.''
''I guess it's some kind of Map Bot, then,'' Sam muttered, only to frown. ''Goddamnit, I can't believe I got jumpscared by that thing!''
Springtrap chuckled in amusement at Sam's sense of indignation. Given what she had been through, it was no wonder she was feeling annoyed. He then turned to her. ''So, where do we go now? You were the one who was called here, and you have the map.''
''Well, I…'' Sam trailed off, only for both of them to get startled by someone yelling at them.
''Hey, what are you doing?!''
Sam and Springtrap turned to the source, a man in his mid to late 20s, wearing an uniform that consisted of a light button-up shirt and black slacks, a nametag and a black tie. The man was standing on the staircase leading to the first floor, frowning at the two. ''The Pizzaplex is closed for the public! What are you doing here?!''
''My name is Samantha Blackburn. I'm a technician at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza at Hurricane, and the manager, Kylie Anthelm, had sent me here for my formal training in regards to the new Glamrock Animatronics,'' Sam introduced herself, pointing at her own purple uniform she was wearing, the locket she got for her birthday being tucked underneath her shirt. The man furrowed a brow, but then walked downstairs towards them, giving Sam a scrutinizing look.
''So, you're the new technician? I didn't expect they'd send in someone so young,'' he said. Sam just smiled nervously.
''Well, it's a bit of a long story to how I started to work at Freddy's and…'' She shook her head, trying to calm herself down. ''You don't have to worry, though. I've been employed for several months now and I have a lot of experience with the Showtime Animatronics, I can assure you. I know that the Showtime Animatronics were prototypes for the Glamrock Animatronics, so I don't think there should be any issues in regards to my skills.''
The man observed her for a moment, still a little dubious of the teenager, even though it was clear that she was an employee at Freddy's, wearing the uniform and telling him the same information he had been given when he was told he would be training someone who was already working with their current generation of animatronics and had glowing reviews from the manager. Admittedly, he also heard that none of the previously hired technicians at that particular location lasted longer than a couple of days or a week at most, even if he was never told the reason to why they had left. Therefore, if this girl was the person he was told about, despite her age, she must've done something to leave quite an impression on the management that let her earn the job.
The man's attention then turned to the bunny animatronic standing next to the teenager, with the animatronic himself returning the same dubious gaze. The man didn't recognize the animatronic, despite its resemblence to Bonnie, only in a golden-greenish colour and wearing an outfit resembling the Showtime Animatronics. However, he was certain that their sister location didn't have a golden Showtime Bonnie animatronic. He then glanced at the girl.
''What is this?'' he asked, pointing at the bunny animatronic.
''Oh, him? He's an animatronic I had found at an abandoned location and repaired to match the Showtime Animatronics,'' Sam lied. Well, technically, it wasn't a lie, as she actually found Springtrap and, in some way, she did ''fix'' him, but the man didn't need to know that. ''His name is Springtrap, and officially, he's my animatronic, but he also works as a Storyteller Animatronic at Freddy's.''
''Huh, Springtrap… now that name rings a bell…'' The man placed his hand under his chin as he tried to remember.
Sam and Springtrap exchanged slightly panicked looks, with Sam quickly adding, ''Oh, that's because I named him after one of those video game animatronic characters from the unofficial Five Nights at Freddy's games that had been taken down by Fazbear Entertainment months ago, with the character being re-used for the VR game, Help Wanted. They looked quite similar in appearance.''
''Yeah, right… I heard of that game. I suppose you must be a huge Freddy's fan then to spend your time repairing an old animatronic and even applying for a job at Freddy's,'' the man said, with Sam and Springtrap inwardly breathing a sigh of relief. They really didn't need more people questioning Springtrap's origins.
''Y-Yeah… As a matter of fact, I had been trying to visit every Freddy's location that I could find and learning about Freddy's and especially the animatronics as much as possible,'' Sam replied. ''I also have Springtrap acting as my assistant.''
Despite having agreed to this cover-up, Springtrap couldn't help but give Sam a pointed look at the word ''assistant''. Sam gave him an apologetic smile, her gaze conveying a different message – he was her mentor and father figure, if not outright a father, and she wasn't going to treat him any less than that. However, in front of people that weren't Emma, Matt or the Showtime Animatronics, they had to show a different dynamic.
''Honestly, that's not a bad idea,'' the man said, a bit intrigued. Upon seeing Sam's confused look, he quickly added, ''I mean the animatronic assistant bit. I suppose it helps you a lot when you have five other animatronics to tend to.''
''Yeah, he does,'' Sam replied, keeping the conversation brisk. ''I hope you don't mind his presence.''
''No, not at all,'' the man responded. ''After all, I know the pain of having to deal with multiple robots that all need repairing while there is just one person working on them.''
''I assume you're not only talking about the Glamrocks but also that Map Bot we encountered earlier,'' Sam said. The man gave her a bewildered look.
''Map Bot? Oh, that one!'' he groaned in exasperation. ''That guy has been jumpscaring the workers here since we had activated him, trying to offer them maps of the building. I assumed he had a glitch, so I wanted to send him to be repaired, but he keeps slipping away. Where did he go?''
''That way, but I suppose it's going to be hard to find him in this huge building,'' Sam replied, pointing towards where the Map Bot went. The man paused for a moment, shaking his head.
''I guess I can find him later then. Or we might run into him while I'm giving you a tour around the building,'' he said.
''Sure, um…'' Sam trailed off, with the man realizing that he hadn't introduced himself.
''My name is Victor Crane. I'm the head technician and mainly in charge of the S.T.A.F.F. Bots, like the Map Bot you met earlier'' he replied, offering her his hand.
''Nice to meet you, Mr. Crane,'' Sam said, shaking his hand. ''I'm really excited to see the building and the animatronics.''
Victor nodded and gestured for Sam and Springtrap to follow him as he led them through the areas at the ground floor. The first stop they made was the Atrium, the biggest area of the Pizzaplex, which led to all the other attractions. The center area of the Atrium was a large eating area where guests could eat, as well as a stage where Sam and Springtrap assumed to be where the Glamrock Animatronics would perform for everyone.
''This is the Atrium,'' Victor explained. ''Now, I suppose you might be interested in seeing the attractions-''
''Why is no one here?'' Both Sam and Victor were surprised when Springtrap spoke. He was looking around the area, as if searching for something. He then turned towards Victor. ''Why is the Pizzaplex empty? Are there no other employees?''
Victor was a bit taken aback by Springtrap's question, having not expected that the animatronic would be this observant. Sam, on the other hand, was aware that Springtrap would immediately keep a close eye on his surroundings and try to find anything of interest that might provide some useful information to them.
''Oh, that… I had actually requested for you to come here an hour earlier before my other co-workers do,'' Victor explained, turning to Sam. ''I had some things to do and I had figured I might finish my work before my co-workers start complaining.''
''Complaining about what?'' Sam asked, rising an eyebrow.
''The S.T.A.F.F. Bots,'' Victor replied simply, pointing at a couple of robots roaming the main area. ''They had been sent by Fazbear Entertainment recently, and we were told that the new S.T.A.F.F. Bots would be a permanent addition to the Pizzaplex and asked us to test them out. Some of my co-workers didn't like the idea of having them around. Animatronics? Sure, they're the stars of the show. But, the S.T.A.F.F. Bots? Some joked that they would be replaced by robots or compared it to some sci-fi movie featuring a robot apocalypse.''
''But, there aren't that many of them,'' Sam pointed out. ''Unless I'm missing something.''
''That's what I had told them too. The S.T.A.F.F. Bots would obviously act as assistants once we get patrons, as I doubt that the current staff would be able to handle the expected numbers of visitors,'' Victor explained. ''I had been testing them out, and so far, they are working fine. These guys would mainly go from table to table to either deliver the food that was ordered or clean the tables.''
''I see…'' Sam muttered. ''I suppose I won't have to work with the S.T.A.F.F. Bots, right?''
''No, I don't think so. You were scheduled to work on the Glamrocks in the case that one of our regular technicians doesn't appear,'' Victor explained, only to pause for a moment. ''Although, I suppose I could also introduce you to our Daycare Attendant.''
''Wait, there is a daycare in this place?'' Sam asked, just as stunned as Springtrap. That wasn't something mentioned on the official website.
''Right. Where do you expect the parents would leave their exhausted children? If we're already catering to families, why not also give the parents some time to relax?'' Victor explained. ''Although, the Daycare Attendant is a bit… peculiar. But, I'm sure you'll get along. Just don't do anything that would make him kick you out of the daycare. Last time, we had one of our cleaning staff messing with his area, and he wouldn't let her back in until we deleted his memory data of her so he would forget what happened.''
''Sheesh,'' Sam commented, exchanging glances with Springtrap. ''Yeah, I will make sure that doesn't happen to me.''
Victor hummed. ''I think that you will like the animatronics, though. We got all of the main attractions, but I believe we might get a few newcomers. From what I've heard, Fazbear Entertainment had been tossing around ideas for new attractions.''
''So, even though the Pizzaplex will be soon open to the public, Fazbear Entertainment still plans on adding more?'' Sam asked. Victor waved her off.
''I believe that those are going to be seasonal attractions,'' he told her, then pointed at a room. ''Shall we meet the Glamrocks? They're in their rooms.''
Sam nodded, eagerly following the man, while Springtrap stayed back for a moment, taking another look at the Atrium, before following the two. He had tried to gather as much information as possible about the new location, hoping to get some kind of lead on Glitchtrap. So far, there was no sign of the virus, but there were a few things he was dubious about. He caught up to Sam and Victor as they entered another area known as Rockstar Row. It was a large museum-like area, featuring display cases, props of old and new animatronics, as well as golden statues of the Glamrocks in front of each of their rooms. The walls were lined with neon stars, as well as signs for the Glamrocks' rooms. Each of the rooms also had curtains that were currently kept closed.
''So, the Glamrocks are inside their rooms? Are they active? Because I imagine they will get a little bored while waiting for the Pizzaplex to open,'' Sam said, looking at the rooms.
''Don't worry, we keep them occupied,'' Victor replied. ''They need to stay active so we can monitor them for any bugs or glitches or any other inconsistencies. Before you meet them, though, I want to quickly show you the Parts and Service room so you know where to go. While you won't be working a a permanent job here, unless you're called to help out with the Glamrocks in case, you will still get security clearance for certain parts of the building.''
''I see…'' Sam muttered as Victor led her to the Service Elevator that went down to the basement area, eventuallly ending up at the Parts and Service room.
''Here, you can fix the Glamrock Animatronics whenever they break. All parts will be provided, and we even have spare endoskeletons in case the whole animatronic needs to be replaced,'' Victor explained.
''That's great,'' Sam replied, looking around the area. It was certainly bigger and had more tools than the back room she would be usually working at. Neither she nor Springtrap had any questions in regards to that room, so they returned back to the Rockstar Row, with Victor then deciding to finally introduce them to the Glamrocks, giving them a few pointers to how each of the animatronics was programmed to act.
They started from the last room, which was Glamrock Chica's Green Room. The room itself was mainly pink with signages, posters, & collectibles that featured Glamrock Chica, as well as a pink glowing star on the ceiling. There was also an arcade machine & a stack of pizza boxes tucked in the corner of the room. By the white couch were several bowling balls. There was also a giant cake sporting an oversized and faceless image of her head on the table.
Glamrock Chica herself was sitting on the couch, reading a magazine showcasing various kinds of pizza. She quickly stood up the moment they entered the room, with Sam and Springtrap getting a better look at her. This Glamrock variant of Chica was a white chicken with purple eyes. Her beak and talons were orange. She had three stray ''feathers'' that stuck out from the top of her head. Her face was painted to look like she had makeup, with purple eyelids, purple lipstick, black mascara and pink eyeshadow on her right eye. Much like her Toy and Funtime counterparts, Glamrock Chica's body was noticeably curvy, instead of round like the Classic or slender like the Showtime. Her body was segmented at the joints, with ball-jointed arms and legs. Similarly to the Funtime Animatronics, small panels could be found all over her body, mainly on her waist and upper arms. She was also dressed in 1980s-era clothing. Her chest, waist, hip and shoulder pieces were pink and purple, meant to resemble a sleeved leotard. She wore a black spiked bracelet on each arm, as well as a pair of green, fingerless gloves. Her lower legs were painted to resemble leg warmers, with her left leg a green leopard print and her right leg a purple tiger print. She wore a purple hair bow and green triangle earrings.
''Hello! Are those the visitors you told us about?'' Glamrock Chica asked, looking at Victor, who nodded in response. He then clasped her hands in excitement, turning to Sam and Springtrap. ''Nice to meet you! I'm Glamrock Chica, the guitarist of the Glamrock Band and in charge of Mazercise! Whether you like food or exercise, I'm the Glamrock for you!''
Sam noted that Glamrock Chica had a qute excitable nature and was programmed to have a huge obsession with food, especially pizza, as well as being very fond of exercising and encouraging patrons to be fit. Admittedly, while that didn't sound too bad on a surface level, both Sam and Springtrap had immediately noted a flaw in the programming. Nevertheless, they didn't say anything.
''Nice to meet you, Chica. My name is Samantha, and this is Springtrap,'' Sam introduced herself and Springtrap. ''I hope we will get along.''
''I hope so as well,'' Glamrock Chica said, only to suddenly place a hand on Sam's shoulder and then ask her. ''What kind of pizza do you like? I'm just taking notes for later.''
''Ahm, um… I like pizza with a lot of cheese and mushrooms,'' Sam said, having been startled by Glamrock Chica's gesture.
''Great! Then I will make sure to prepare some for you the next time you come here,'' Glamrock Chica told her happily.
''Okay, okay… We need to move on now. I still need to introduce Samantha to the other Glamrocks,'' Victor said, pushing Sam out of the room, with Springtrap following them.
The next room was Glamrock Bonnie's Green Room. In contrast to Chica's room, this room was primarly light blue, with a light blue glowing star on the ceiling, and it was cluttered with signages, posters, & collectibles featuring Glamrock Bonnie. There was a set of bowling balls and pins in the corner, along with a makeup center and an arcade machine, as well as a blue couch.
When the group entered the room, they found Glamrock Bonnie practicing a throw with a green bowling ball in his hand, while also making sure it wouldn't slip and destroy the window in front of him. Similarly to Glamrock Chica, Glamrock Bonnie too was dressed in a 1980s style. The rabbit's outer casing was electric blue with red eyes and a round muzzle, as well as a tuft of hair. The color of his muzzle, stomach, and inside of his ears were white, and he wore a rose-red jumpsuit and a purple high neck collar, a purple headband, spiked bracelets, gloves and leg pieces. On his chest was a yellow star, and on his right ear was a purple earring piece.
''Hey, hey, visitors! Are you up for a game or do you just want to watch the master in his element?'' Glamrock Bonnie asked, easily lifting the bowling ball, a wide smile featured on his expression. ''My name is Glamrock Bonnie, the bassist of the Glamrock Band and in charge of Bonnie Bowl. What about you guys?''
Sam introduced herself as Springtrap, reminding herself of the information Victor gave her about Glamrock Bonnie. They had programmed him to be athletic and daring, challening patrons to play any of the more sport-themed games, particularly bowling, as well as being Freddy's best friend. The reason for that was to make sure that, if the star of the show was ever overwhelmed by patrons, his best friend would intervene and make sure that he gets a break. Sam and Springtrap had to admit that they couldn't really find any flaws with this programming.
''Unfortunately, I'm not much of bowler, but I suppose you could teach me a thing or two,'' Sam said.
''I would be happy to do that! You can always rely on my help,'' Glamrock Bonnie responded, waving at them was they exited the room and walked into the next one, the one belonging to Roxanne Wolf.
Roxanne Wolf's Green Room was purple with many collectibles and posters featuring the wolf animatronic, as well as a purple glowing star on the ceiling. Same as the other rooms, it had a makeup center, and many race-themed objects. An arcade machine could also be seen.
Roxanne Wolf was sitting at the makeup center, tending to her appearance. She was an animatronic wolf with a punk rock aesthetic. She presented as a gray-furred wolf with bright yellow eyes. She had black streaks of makeup on her cheeks and wears purple lipstick. The claws on her feet were painted purple, and the claws on her hands were green. Her hair was long and silver, with a bright green streak. Just like Glamrock Chica, there was a panel-like seam under her chest, upper arms, and upper thighs. She also had light grey markings on the inside of her ears, paw pads, around her muzzle, and on her belly. Her clothes consisted of a red crop top, hot pants, and shoulder pads adorned with black star-like patterns. Additional accessories included black and purple earrings, two spiked bracelets, a spiked belt, and purple arm and leg warmers with black tiger stripes.
''Ah, so you had decided to finally visit the most beautiful and the coolest wolf girl? I'm Roxanne Wolf, but you can call me Roxy. I'm the keytar player of the Glamrock Band and in charge of Roxy Raceway. If you want an autograph, I will be giving them out once the place is open for the public,'' Roxanne told them, only to pause for a moment, and then winked at Sam. ''On second thought, if you tell me who is your favorite animatronic is and if your answer is correct, I might just give you an autograph now.''
Sam just gave Roxanne a sheepish smile, remembering how Victor told her that Roxanne was programmed to be vain and competitive, taking great care of her appearance. Sam and Springtrap both noted that she was sounding quite self-centered, but didn't mind it. Although, they could see a bit of an issue with that kind of programming.
''My name is Samantha, and honestly, I have never seen such an unique animatronic like you, Roxy,'' Sam said, with Roxanne giving her a confident smile. Clearly, she was pleased with Sam's answer, seeing it as a compliment.
''Of course, no one is more unique than I am!'' Roxanne replied.
''Unfortunately, we don't have time for more talk, as I still need to continue the tour,'' Victor said, leading Sam and Springtrap out of the room, with Roxanne frowning, as she wanted to hear more of Sam's compliments.
''Mr. Crane, what happened to Foxy?'' Sam asked as they made their way to the last room. ''I thought there would be a Glamrock Foxy here, especially considering he's quite popular with children.''
''I don't really know. Supposedly, Fazbear Entertainment wanted to add a Glamrock Foxy at the very beggining, and there is an attraction featuring him, but something had changed at the planning stage and instead we got Roxanne Wolf,'' Victor explained. Sam and Springtrap exchanged glances, clearly unsure how to interpret this.
Lastly, they arrived at Glamrock Freddy's Green Room. This room was a somewhat different than the other rooms. The star on the ceiling was glowing blue, along with the outline of the mini-stage. Freddy's room also had a rectangular mirror and not the star mirror like the other Glamrock Animatronic's green room. Like all the other rooms, it had an arcade machine and many signages, collectibles, neon signs, a makeup center, and posters of Glamrock Freddy himself. The place was also red with orange bits, and a big bowtie pillow could also be seen. By the couch were several bowling balls, with Sam realizing that it was possible that Glamrock Bonnie had gifted those bowling balls to Glamrock Freddy and Glamrock Chica.
Speaking of which, Glamrock Freddy was standing in the middle of the room, clearly excited to meet the new technician he had been told about. Based on the Classic Freddy Fazbear, he had a punk-themed design reminiscent of the style associated with the 1980s. His design somewhat resembled that of a jaguar or a lion more than a bear. He wore a top hat adorned with a blue stripe and a black bow tie. His body was primarily colored a bright orange or lighter yellow. His torso had a distinctive seam across the front where his chest compartment opened up. He was equipped with a pair of fangs, as well as light-blue claw nails and red shins. He wore large, red shoulder pauldrons, spiked bracelets, a red earring in his left ear, and face paint in a similar style to the members of rock bands with light-blue and red colors.
''Welcome to the Mega Pizzaplex! My name is Glamrock Freddy, the lead vocalist of the Glamrock Band. It is nice to meet a new co-worker,'' Glamrock Freddy greeted Sam politely, who nodded in response.
''I'm Samantha Blackburn, and it is nice to meet you too, Freddy,'' Sam replied, with Glamrock Freddy's attention wandering away from her to Springtrap.
''I had no idea that we would have another animatronic visiting.'' He turned to Victor with a worried look. ''I'm sorry if I had missed out on any information in regards to our new friend here, I probably should've payed more attention.''
Before Victor could even answer, Springtrap responded, ''My name is Springtrap, and I'm actually Sam's close friend and a member of the Showtime Animatronic band at the sister location.''
''Nice to meet you, Springtrap,'' Glamrock Freddy said, holding out his hand, with Springtrap shaking it. ''I hope you'll feel welcome here. If you need any help, you can ask me.''
''Don't worry, I'm certain that I will,'' Springtrap replied. He had to admit that he was a bit surprised that Glamrock Freddy had addressed him, considering how all the other Glamrocks ignored him in favour if Sam. His personality also fit the description they had gotten; that being that he was very friendly, agreeable and honest, having been programmed to love and protect children and entertain them. Nevertheless, he was a bit intrigued by the fact that Glamrock Freddy actually acknowledged him, although he wasn't sure what to make of it. At least, not yet.
''Shall we continue our tour, then?'' Victor asked, clearing his throat. ''I'm sure that my other co-workers will arrive soon.''
''Mr. Crane, may I ask you for a favour?'' Glamrock Freddy asked. When Victor gave him a questioning look, he quickly added. ''I had promised Monty to check up on him, so would it be fine for me to leave my room?''
''Well, we were right on our way to Monty's Gator Golf, so I suppose you can accompany us,'' Victor replied. Freddy's eyes lit up in joy, and Sam and Springtrap exchanged glances, both realizing that they could ask Glamrock Freddy a bit more about the Pizzaplex and other animatronics, especially due to his friendly nature. Once the group made their way over to Monty's Gator Golf, Victor and Sam were ahead of Glamrock Freddy and Springtrap, with Springtrap addressing Freddy.
''You know, I will take you up on the offer of helping me out whenever I'm at the Pizzaplex,'' Springtrap told him. Glamrock Freddy just smiled back in response.
''I will be happy to assist you.''

Author Ask Tag Game
Thank you @doublegoblin for the tag here! And also @gummybugg for tagging me here!
(1) What is the main lesson of your story (e.g. kindness, diversity, anti-war), and why did you choose it?
That we are what we make of ourselves, despite our traumas, despite our gifts, and despite our faults. That there are things that people do that are unforgivable, even if they are forced. Also, that true love is patient, kind, and understanding despite its awesome fragility.
I chose these themes because I think they're realistic, they're lessons that are easy to swallow, and that don't need to be pushed in people's faces to be understood. I don't want to spell things out but I also just want to tell a story, so if this ends up not being the real main lesson then I hope you all still like it.
(2) What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding (like real-life cultures, animals, famous media, websites, etc.)?
I studied Romanian and European fashion from the 1850's to the 1870's. Then I studied American (United States) fashion from then on until I was familiar. I studied history, slang, folklore, LGBT history, etc. As far as what my world looks like, its a cross between where I grew up in a state somewhere along the Missipiipii-fuck Mississippi river and living in Florida but make it gloomy.
(3) What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness, help readers grow as a person?
Glen is trying to become himself again after visiting the horrific and disgusting Tiletsu Clan. There he is confronted with a question that someone asked him long ago: If vampires are just more powerful humans, aren't they more dangerous? And conversely, if humans are just weak vampires, are they worth keeping safe?
As a writer, I want to tell a good story where all of the characters (except the Tiletsu and friends) are morally grey, make bad decisions that they thought were good ones, and have to grow up despite having plenty of time to do so. While trauma causes many reactions, I read a lot where the reaction is to forget everything. My experience is that I can't forget anything at all and I wanted to explore that in my writing.
(4) How many chapters is your story going to have?
About thirty chapters. The outline of Masterpiece is 70 pages long, granted it is an okay-detailed outline, with 33 parts currently. So please expect 33-40 chapters.
(5) Is it fanfiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it?
Original Content 100%. There isn't anything wrong with fanfiction at all, but I love my original characters and the worlds I build, and I'm not a big enough or cool enough fan of anything to write fanfiction.
I plan to post the first 5 chapters of Masterpiece here on Tumblr, over at Wattpad, and Ao3. Smaller novellas and the entire story will be published with a limited print run at first and the eBook somewhere that I haven't decided yet for purchasing. Starry Skies and Like Minds will follow this same process, but Henrietta and Apocalyptic Cat Lady (Working Title) are web series!
You'll be able to find more information after my website is up and running!
(6) When and why did you start writing?
I started writing when I was 11 and did collaborative writing roleplays with other people my age. Eventually, I became a big enough fan of Star Trek (Kelvin Universe) that I did a massive fanfiction with my friend that lasted years. I made many OCs, had whole stories, had lots of adventures, and then when I went to college it died. One of those OCs will be reborn into Starry Skies and Like Minds whenever I decide to write it and share it here!
(7) Do you have any words of engagement for fellow writers of Writeblr? What other writers of Tumblr do you follow?
My blog is under a year old and I have less than 100 followers, it's just the name of the game. When I posted my first piece of writing, absolutely no one found it for a while despite ABCDEFG. What helped me the most when it comes to finding mutuals that actually interact with you is to find "Looking for Writeblr" posts and go through the replies. Check every blog. Start interacting, that's why my intro post has a "Please, I promise I'm just an idiot and really like you blog" disclaimer because I do, genuinely, like a lot of stuff on other people's blogs. That is how I found the great and powerful @doublegoblin @mthollowell-writes @pinkchaosstories and @gummybugg who tag me and make my life great.
Thank you all for tagging me in everything, you make my life a joy.

O Captain: A Crowdfunding Retrospective
Last week I wrapped up my campaign for O Captain, a solo journaling game, which I used Crowdfundr for. It was my first ever TTRPG crowdfunding campaign, and in one month we raised over $10,000, smashing through all of our stretch goals in the process. I want to talk a little bit about what worked best and what I'd do differently.
DISCLAIMER: After making the choice to use Crowdfundr for O Captain, I was hired by Crowdfundr to be an ambassador. I signed on because I believe in the platform and think for indie designers in particular it’s a GREAT alternative to some of the larger platforms.
This post is a reflection of my experiences. I hope it can be valuable to ttrpg creators!
Platform
There were several things that immediately drew me to Crowdfundr: in-depth campaign and rewards customization, a community and resources for people new to crowdfunding, and an explicit commitment to not doing environmentally reckless stuff like getting into NFTs.
It's very easy to make and edit good, clean layouts. You can add buttons into your campaign (the "spreads" and "single-page" buttons are actually buttons! Not images!). You can customize the heck out of your rewards and add images for each one.
We ran a "keep it all" campaign with Crowdfundr's "mostly free" model. With the "mostly free" model, you ask your backers to cover the Crowdfundr platform fee and the Stripe+Paypal transaction fees (something like 8.5% all told). You end up responsible for whatever your backers don't pay.
For O Captain, my effective fee rate was 0.9%. Less than 1%, from an 8.5% potential. Crowdfundr told me that the average was around 1.5-2.5%. So first off, shout-out to my backers who were more generous than the average!! But secondly, choosing Crowdfundr and using the mostly free option saved us a ton of money.
Things That Worked
Demoing O Captain at Big Bad Con's small press booth. In other words, face to face time.
Having a free PDF preview for folks to download
Having a lot of supportive friends (thank you supportive friends!)
Posting everywhere, all the time.
That last one seems like a gimme, but you really don't know how true it is until you start doing it. I was able to track backers who found my post on LinkedIn. Someone commented they found the game through a podcast that typically has nothing to do with RPGs. One of the hosts (a friend) liked the game and wanted to give it a shout out.
Every time I posted the campaign on twitter, I got new backers. You never know who is going to see a new post at just the right moment.
Things That I'd Do Differently
I'd probably put the PDF preview on Itch instead of my website. I feel like that was a missed opportunity to build my itch page, which is empty.
I would definitely reach out to press and content creators much earlier than I did. I thought one month was ridiculous for a press release, that folks would read it and forget about it. But I sent press kits out 2 weeks in advance and barely got a response back.
Most smaller content creation platforms (APs, podcasts, etc) usually need about 1-3 months of lead time. I'm getting this number from the Sout Stoat list of game reviewers, which was super helpful.
And that's that!
If anyone has questions about crowdfunding, my ask box is open. Especially if it's questions about Crowdfundr. And if you're looking for a place to fund your ZineMonth project next year, we're running a spotlight event for anyone who uses Crowdfundr for their ttrpg project at the same time.
Thank you for reading!

Codeblr tag game - Realization
Thank you to @code-es for tagging me!
At what point in your life did you decide that the world of computers was the one for you?
This will be a long one, so bear with me.
I tag: @kitkatcodes, @alica-tech, and literally anyone else who wants to do this.
I honestly didn't know, or care to know, how computers worked until I was 21, at my last semester of college. As a kid I had my own computer, but I didn't mess around with it. Then, growing up, it just didn't occur to me that programming was a thing, or even a thing that my brain could comprehend and actually enjoy doing (plus, I'm bad a math, so there's that).
I was finishing up my Associate Degree in Health Sciences where in my genetics class in my 2nd to last semester, my prof starts talking about Bioinformatics and how the field is rising. So I went up to him after class and asked what that field was, and he said "you create apps to help solve biological problems" and I stood there thinking that that was just awesome (although after being in a bioinformatics program at another school, the definition we were taught is "using programming or computer science to answer biological questions", so a little different than what he said). He said my college was planning on opening up a degree in that field and handed me a timetable for the courses that a student would take in that degree. One of the first courses you'd need to take actually required a pre-requisite course, so my last semester in my degree I took that course, and it was a basic intro to computer science.
This course was awful. I didn't really like my prof, and he just presented different topics without explaining how things connected. For example, he explained how sorting algorithms worked, but I don't remember if he covered lists or arrays. He explained stacks and queues (which I learned about in my 2nd year of university, 2 years after learning it in this course), and also went over the different routing/scheduling algorithms like round robin and others I don't remember. And then we covered Visual Basic (i.e. turn this text colour from black to red), and also briefly touched on if statements and loops. Basically, it was a mess of a course.
So, my college doesn't open the program by the time I graduate and I get into another university for the Bioinformatics bachelor program. Because of college, I didn't really have to take bio courses at uni since I'd already done them. So now it was time for computer science. This was really good, since I had the flexibility of either continuing on the bio path and do research once I graduate, or go into the world of programming. And I really liked that flexibility.
The intro to computer science course offered here was actually structured well, but I still didn't know that the key to courses where you program is to learn how to use google...we did all of our assignments in Python and I asked a programming friend of mine for a lot of help. Then as the semesters went on, I would take 1 or 2 CS courses per semester to learn concepts such as data structures and algorithms, database management systems, and computer networks. Meanwhile, the few actual bioinformatics courses that I took all used R and were mostly data analysis, which I didn't like (but still used it for my thesis project). It wasn't until this past semester where I was taking a design course (officially called "human-computer interactions") that I actually had fun with the project. We had to design a library website system from scratch to a functioning prototype, and I had a blast. Given that that was my last semester, it gave me hope that I can enjoy coding, especially if it's something visual. I don't mind doing backend stuff (plus, it makes me feel smart), but I work really well with visuals, and when I can literally see my process and the outcome.
This was long, but here we are. Now I'm 25 and I've graduated, and I'm in the process of building up a portfolio with projects, as well as (re)learning concepts I covered in school to prep for interviews. I honestly don't think I'll get a job immediately, and it might take a few months, but I'm using that time in between to learn and get a solid understanding of concepts. I feel like I started late, and that I should've just gone into a CS or SE degree instead of Bioinformatics, or gotten an internship during my school years, but alas, it is what it is.

On Anxiety Emergencies vs. Actual Emergencies.
Anxiety is a strange sort of thing. When your brain thinks that everything is an emergency, then actual emergencies are, in some weird way, easier to handle. This is how I found myself able to respond to an actual emergency - my husband was in a car accident, he’s being transported to the hospital, his beloved truck is probably going to be totaled - with an odd sort of calm. Okay, well, he’s at the hospital, that’s the ideal place to go in this situation. The ambulance was parked at the gas station right next to the accident site, so they were able to respond in like 1.5 minutes? That’s even better. The police precinct building is just down the street, so they turned up quickly too? Even better still, all considering.
He told me to not drop everything and run to the hospital because there was no point, he was just doing lots and lots of waiting mostly, so I did what I needed to do. I kept working, though I probably wasn’t at my very best because I kept checking my phone. My mom is retired and lives 5 minutes away from the hospital, whereas my office is about 35 minutes away from the hospital, so she generously offered to go pick him up and bring him home once he was discharged. The only injuries he sustained were a small patch of very minor burn on his left arm near his elbow and his right wrist was hurting a bit so they gave him a brace and some painkillers.
The car, on the other hand, is definitely more of an issue. It’s been taken away to a tow yard and he’s been asked to go retrieve his belongings by our insurance agent - who, in the weirdest bit of serendipity about this whole situation, also represents the lady who caused the accident. When my husband called to get the claims process started, she was like “Yeah, I just had a call earlier from a lady who was in an accident at [place and time] involving a red truck!” Well, yes, that red truck is his! Oh, and that lady also rode in the same ambulance to the hospital, too! And she was befuddled when only she was issued a citation, but she was the one at fault for the accident, so…what did she expect?
That was his cherished truck, though. He ordered it new. He’d never had any new vehicle before, ever. He picked out all the specs he wanted on the Ford website and waited and waited for it to be built because it was built in 2022, during that time where the industry was really struggling with supply chain issues. It was delivered from Birmingham because his boss owns a Ford dealership out there, but not one in Atlanta. We used it for multiple different instances of what we excitedly called Truck Stuff - towing an RV, attaching a U-Haul trailer, packing it full of IKEA furniture. Just yesterday he excitedly reported that he had just hit 14,000 miles. He had just renewed the registration for the car on Sunday. Now the story is probably over. Just based on the picture I saw from right after the accident, I don’t think the insurance company is going to shell out for repairs. For a car guy like him, this is a tough pill to swallow.
And yet, he’s already started browsing what his boss has in inventory for trucks. So, maybe this might just be the beginning of another story.

Data Centres Get VIP Status: Just as Important as Hospitals and Power Plants, Says UK Government
Imagine a big building filled with countless computers, all buzzing away, storing and processing tons of information. This is what a data centre is – a giant warehouse for data. And guess what? The UK government has decided that these data centres are now as important as hospitals, banks, police stations, and even the power grid. Why? Because they keep our digital world running smoothly. Data centres help power things we use every day like social media, online shopping, video streaming, and even some artificial intelligence (AI) applications. If these centres were to go offline due to a cyber-attack, an IT problem, or extreme weather, our lives would face a lot of disruption. So, the new Labour government has decided to list data centres as "Critical National Infrastructure," which means they are super important to the country's functioning. Why Are Data Centres So Important? Data centres are like the beating heart of the internet. They store and manage the data that makes all online services work. Think of all the apps on your phone, the websites you visit, and even your online games. All of these rely on data centres to function. Without them, everything could come to a screeching halt. Professor Alan Woodward, a cybersecurity expert from Surrey University, explains it like this: "Many people think of online services as existing somewhere in the 'cloud,' but all that data has to live somewhere. And usually, it's in a data centre." Just like a power plant supplies electricity to homes, data centres supply digital power to the internet. What Does It Mean to Be “Critical National Infrastructure”? So, what exactly does it mean for data centres to be listed as critical national infrastructure? Well, it means they will receive extra support and protection from the government in case something bad happens, like a cyber attack. For example, if a hacker tries to break into a data centre, the government will step in to help prevent or fix the problem quickly. It also means that the government will have a special team to monitor any threats to data centres. This team will be ready to act if something goes wrong, such as the chaos caused recently by a cybersecurity update from Crowdstrike that disrupted services for millions of people and businesses worldwide. However, there won't be any new rules or stricter inspections for how data centres are currently managed. Growing Threats and Big Investments There have been growing concerns about cyber-attacks on data centres. Just last year, the former Deputy Prime Minister, Oliver Dowden, warned about potential threats from Russia targeting the UK's infrastructure. Lindy Cameron, who used to run the National Cyber Security Centre, also emphasized the need for stronger protection against cyber threats. And it’s not just about keeping the bad guys out. The demand for data centres is skyrocketing due to the increasing use of AI-based services that need a lot of computing power. Recently, Amazon Web Services announced a huge investment of £8 billion to build and operate data centres in the UK over the next five years. Microsoft and Google are also constructing their own UK-based data centres. The Environmental Puzzle But not everyone is cheering for more data centres. These facilities use a massive amount of electricity and water, making them less friendly to the environment. They require a lot of energy to keep the computers running and use large quantities of water to cool down the machines. The CEO of the National Grid even mentioned earlier this year that the amount of energy used by data centres in the UK could increase six times in the next decade! In some areas, people are worried about the impact these data centres will have on local resources and the environment. For example, a proposal to build a new data centre in Buckinghamshire was recently rejected because of concerns about its effect on the surrounding green belt, a protected area of countryside. A Boost for Business Despite the concerns, the government's decision to give data centres this new status is seen as a positive move by many in the tech industry. Bruce Owen, who works for Equinix, a company that runs data centres in the UK, said he is "really encouraged" by the government’s decision. "The UK is a crucial market for us," he added. "We have invested over a billion pounds in the UK, and this move by the government encourages us to continue investing." By treating data centres as a vital part of the country's infrastructure, the UK government is sending a strong signal: these places are just as important as hospitals, banks, and power plants. This could mean more jobs, more investments, and even better technology for the future. Why This Matters The move to classify data centres as critical infrastructure reflects just how important our digital world has become. In an age where almost everything we do relies on the internet, keeping the data flowing smoothly is essential. While there are still questions about how to balance this need with environmental concerns, one thing is clear: data centres are now key players in the UK's future. So, the next time you stream a video, send an email, or check your social media, remember – there’s a good chance a data centre somewhere is working hard to make it happen. And now, the UK government is working hard to protect them too! Read the full article

Cumbrian Tile Doctor Reveals how to Re-Surface 200-Year-Old Stone Flooring
Earlier this year I was asked to improve this tired looking Black Flagstone floor which was at a house in Kendal that dates back over 200 years. The property used to be the Prison Wardens house and was part of the House of Corrections which was situated in Kendal on the Hill on the road up towards Windermere. The old Stone walls, in what is now the car park, are still present but the Gaol has long gone with new houses built in its place around 120 years ago.
The flagstones formed the floor of what is now a Kitchen and Pantry and sometime in the past a red cement base was put on top of the stone to level it and was then covered in a wooden Parquet floor. The trouble with this was that it stopped the stone from breathing leading to damp spreading into the walls which in turn encouraged mould to grow. Certainly not what you want in a house and certainly not in the Kitchen.
The customer had removed all the old Parquet floor which was rotten anyway and knocked out a lot of the leveller but the stone was very rough and he was unable to get it clean as it would shred mops and the dirt would get trapped in the pits and build-up.
I went over to look at the Flagstones and recommended that we mill the stone which would remove what remained of the levelling compound allowing the stone to breathe again and remove the roughness of the stone allowing it to be cleaned easily. I came up with a restoration plan to do that, address the pointing and then seal the stone with a breathable sealer. Happy with the quote and relieved they now had a practical solution we were given the go ahead to do the work.
Milling a 200-Year-Old Black Flagstone Floor
We used a series of coarse DRB milling pads to grind off a thin layer of stone off the flagstones. This exposes new stone underneath and removes the contaminates in the process. The work starts with the very coarse 50-grit DRB milling pad and is applied to the floor using a heavy-duty buffing machine that has weights added to improve traction. Water is used to lubricate the process and this slowly turns to a slurry as work progresses. The slurry is then rinsed and extracted from the floor and the process repeated with the 100 and then 200-grit DRB milling pads.
Once done we moved onto the pointing which was knocked out with a Hammer Drill and replaced with a breathable pointing product called VDW in a stone-grey colour. Work continued into the next day where the sandstone was cleaned again with the 200-Grit milling pad and focus turned to cleaning all the edges and corners where the pads struggle to reach. Once done the floor was given another rinse and extraction and left it to dry overnight.
Sealing a Black Flagstone Tiled Basement Floor
To return the dark Black colour to the stone I decided to use a breathable oil-based sealer called Tile Doctor X-Tra seal that leaves a low satin finish. This product is rated for internal and external use and being breathable it will allow moisture to rise through the floor and evaporate at the surface. Old floors like this don’t have a damp proof membrane so it is important to choose a sealer that can allow the floor to breath and this will resolve the damp issues the property was experiencing previously.
This was not an easy job for us, but luckily it was quite a small floor. I’m not sure the photographs really do it justice but our work certainly made a difference and my customer was very happy with the result. They even left the following 5-star feedback on our website.
Brilliant job, our flagstone floor is completely transformed! By Helen M, Kendal, 11 March 2024
For aftercare I recommended Tile Doctor Neutral Tile Cleaner which will clean the floor without impacting the sealer which can be a problem with many of the stronger products you find in supermarkets.

Found Poetry is a fantastic way to connect with your creative soul.
I have been creating found poems since 2012: from search terms, from spam comments, from error message. From snippets of my own science and tech articles, from titles of my blog posts. From physics textbooks by Paul Dirac, from novels like Foucault's Pendulum.
I set strict and sort of silly rules for myself, like: I have to pick one unedited snippet from each document returned by a search engine, and I must not go back nor re-shuffle the snippets. Or I demand I must jump from one link on a page to the next page. I have been struggling with the blackholes of big platforms that do want to keep you within the confines of theír realms.
A French group of experimental poets - Oulipo - likened this method to rats who construct the labyrinth from which they plan to escape.
I force myself to proceed rather fast, and I prefer to create Found Poetry when I am tired. It took me some time to discover that these poems have a certain drift that I vaguely recognize as a distorted images of thoughts that are mine nonetheless. My subconsciousness seems to choose some of the text snippets for me.
It's Friday evening, so I hope that my (typical :-)) not-so-business-y post is OK. But I find Found Poetry actually more useful in a business context, compared to other creative exercises I once had to take part in management trainings.
As an example, this is my latest poem! To escape the blackhole platforms and to avoid clichéd content, I've recently turned to using a long and hopefully unusual "seed phrase" - the name I've give to my digital artwork!
I hit the end of internet as some of my source pages were dictionaries! Quoting this poem:
Sparse Spaceport Morphs Into Curtain of Dancing Oscillations
I will do anything to get the truth We need to know how close we can get
A global timekeeping problem postponed by Common Sense
the unamplified human voice A space-borne Fourier transform
this manuscript may seem narrow in scope – and perhaps it is Shown here are shape, structure and size of the main mirrors
There will be shielded arenas left unpressurized We make sure you get the best results every time
‘death stars’ passing close to the Sun yearning for change, they desired to challenge one another
Our planet is just one among billions in the context of rapidly shifting realities
THE ROBOTS ARE HERE abutting abuzz abysmal(*)
explore dance or dance-like characteristics filled with the cloudy turquoise
zeta zigzag zilch (**) reorganized in a hierarchical fashion
THE AESTHETICS OF THE TRANSITORY sculpted sculpting (***)
(see my blog post for the * ** *** commentary)
The poem from 2022 which I linked at the top is one of my all-time favorites - sourced from Twitter in this case! Quoting it in its entirety:
They shall shine in the dark
The interstellar void going down much faster determined to take over
under renewed attack under the threat A reminder
do anything don’t wait for permission step into the gap
what we need these days protect those that are in danger.
Lives could have been saved Tragic and indefensible
subsidized fossil fuel Fuck off!
we’ll retake ground and get better.
I would like to believe every ending is also a new beginning
The unknown future ethereal and translucent
holding a compass find the map of our souls

Next New Networks, Part 1
I'm going to try, in as few posts as possible, to create a coherent timeline of the short, eventful life of Next New Networks, an early, consequential moment in streaming video history.
The Pre-history, Summer 2005
Emil Rensing and I created Next New Networks, kind of as a lark.
The company was one of the earliest of dozens of internet video start-ups that were created near the beginning of Web 2.0 ("websites that emphasize user-generated content, ease of use, participatory culture, and interoperability" says Wikipedia). It sure wasn't the biggest –that would be YouTube– but IMHO, it had a lot to do with how the first generation of online video would play out.
Like any sentient human being at the turn of the century, the early explosion of the internet had included me in its wake. Little did I know that it would collide with my many lives in the media to lead me on to a path that would give me a front row seat.
I’d moved back to New York from Los Angeles in the summer of 1999 to become the first/only president of the ill fated MTV Networks Online, where I’d met, hired, and quit the same day as Emil Rensing by early 2001. We became partners in Frederator/NY working with various media companies on their internet strategies and producing television. Following the Internet 1.0 implosion over the next four years we futzed around with various projects.
Somewhere in the summer of 2005, our friend and colleague Roy Langbord showed me a comedy video by Julie Klausner called “Cat News,” on some website called “Channel 102.” Julie wrote and directed a really funny video, but as someone who started as a media executive, I was even more intrigued by the site that was presenting it. Channel 101 (founded in LA by a stunningly talented creep named Dan Harmon) and Channel 102 (NY) were taking advantage of the efficiency of online video to give opportunity to TV wannabes to produce and find a community.
youtube
"Cat News" by Julie Klausner on Channel 102, my inspiration for Channel Frederator
I thought that a similar structure to solve a problem I had. Ever since moving back to New York, even with my two talented co-workers at Frederator Studios, my cartoon production company (The Fairly OddParents, ChalkZone, My Life as a Teenage Robot, more) I was feeling out of touch, since the primary animation community was LA based. I knew there were talented, could-be creators outside of Hollywood, but it was extremely difficult to search them out and put together a relationship. Online video, in 2005 with broadband increasing exponentially, was a way to circumvent limitations and bring new talent into the mainstream.
On a whim, I called our former intern, the 19 year old, pre-Tumblr David Karp, showed him 101/102 and asked if he could build me a duplicate for our needs.
“Uh, sure, but why?” I went through my thought process. “I get it, but why? Why build it like them? They’re so... old school. So 2000.” Built on a series of clunky, tiny Quicktime videos, he seemed to have a point. But, the alternative?
David pulled out a Sony PSP, and made the point that portable video was on the way, with an Apple Video iPod less than a year away.
“Build your site for portable video.” I figured he was closer to the market than I was, and when he assured me that the cost would be under $5000 for my experiment, I gave the green light. Colleague Eric Homan selected three shorts from our friends, David and his friend named the channel and designed the logo, David built the site and wrote/edited the actual episode.
youtube
By November 2005, we were ready to launch Channel Frederator through iTunes, with –surprise!– an Apple Video iPod announced just two weeks before. David was right, but Apple beat his prediction by about a year.
Filling Emil in all the way, he decided to take his collection of fast sports car video and pulled together his own “video podcast” called VODCars.
There was almost no “professional” quality video on iTunes in November 2005. The result for us? 1 million downloads in the first 30 days!
We had some hits!
(More to come.)

The Power of Leadfeeder for B2B Lead Generation in Luxembourg
For those of us in the B2B space, lead generation is the lifeblood of our business success. But generating high-quality leads doesn't have to feel like pulling teeth. With the right tools, lead gen can actually be an energizing, enlightening process that takes your business relationships to the next level.
As a marketing expert here in Luxembourg, I've tested my fair share of lead generation tools and tactics over the years. While many promise the moon, only one has consistently delivered results that make my job easier and grow our contact lists: Leadfeeder.
My Journey From Lead Gen Skeptic to Believer
I'll admit, when I first heard fellow marketers raving about Leadfeeder a few years back, I was skeptical. As a self-proclaimed "old dog" in the digital marketing world, I've fallen for hype around new tools before only to end up frustrated and disappointed.
But after seeing some hard numbers from colleagues and competitors, I decided to give Leadfeeder a try. And let me tell you...this tool is the real deal.
Within just two weeks, Leadfeeder helped me identify over 50 new potential leads visiting our site. And the best part? Over 85% were from companies we had no existing relationship with already. Talk about unlocking hidden opportunities!
Here's How Leadfeeder Helped This Marketer Go From Drowning to Thriving
Pre-Leadfeeder, I felt like I was drowning in questions about our website traffic. Who were these people visiting our site? Were they even potential customers? And even if they were, how would I get their contact info to start a conversation?
As a busy marketing director, I didn't have time to endlessly dig through our analytics and make guesses. I needed real time insights and visibility into who was coming to our site so I could take targeted action.
That's exactly what Leadfeeder delivered. Their technology integrates seamlessly with Google Analytics to automatically turn anonymous website visitors into actionable business leads.
Now, anytime someone from a target company visits my site, I get an automatic alert with their name, contact details, and company info. Talk about a game changer!
No more flying blind and hoping website visitors somehow convert. With Leadfeeder, I have the intel I need to directly reach out to high-value contacts and strike while the iron is hot.
The Power of Proactive Leadgen: How to Build Real Relationships
Instead of waiting around for potential leads to come to me, Leadfeeder empowers me to take control of the leadgen process.
Thanks to real-time alerts and lead notifications, I can proactively reach out to new contacts and start nurturing relationships from the very first website visit.
Sometimes, it's as simple as sending a personalized email introduing myself and my company and asking how I can help address any needs or questions that brought them to my site.
Other times, if I notice multiple employees from the same company visiting my content, I'll pick up the phone to introduce myself and dive deeper into how we may be able to partner.
In every case, Leadfeeder gives me the critical context I need to turn strangers into qualified leads by starting respectful, value-driven conversations.
Why Leadfeeder is a Cut Above Other Visitor Identification Tools
In the world of B2B marketing, few things are more frustrating than realizing your site traffic and leads are coming from the wrong places. Unqualified visitors and contacts just waste your precious time and energy.
That's why I get so fired up about Leadfeeder. Unlike some other visitor identification services I've tested, Leadfeeder's technology and targeting is surgical when it comes to identifying contacts I actually want to connect with. No more pointless conversations that go nowhere.
Some key advantages that set Leadfeeder apart for me:
Laser focused on my target companies: I can specify the companies I want leads from, and won't get notified every time an irrelevant business visits my site.
Conversational data approach: Leadfeeder builds rich contact profiles based on full website activity, not just single landing pages. This allows highly targeted, contextual outreach.
Proactive notifications: I get alerts in real-time when priority contacts are on my site so I can take instant action. No more waiting for batched reports.
Seamless integration: LD works directly with my existing analytics platforms like Google Analytics with no extra work for me. Easy to set up, use, and monitor results.
Take Your B2B Lead Generation to the Next Level
As B2B marketers in this digital age, we already have so much on our plates. The last thing we need is another cumbersome tool that requires hours of extra work just to yield mediocre results.
That's why I'm so impressed with how Leadfeeder simplifies and supercharges lead generation. Thanks to actionable, real-time alerts and insights into our website visitors, we can skip the guesswork and focus our energy where it matters most.
If you're feeling frustrated or stuck in a B2B lead gen rut, I highly recommend giving Leadfeeder a try. It's easy to set up, integrates seamlessly, and will start delivering results almost immediately.
Within a month, you could uncover 3X more qualified leads without any extra work. And who couldn't use that right now?
No more wasting time on one-and-done website visitors or unresponsive contacts from irrelevant companies. Leadfeeder empowers you to build authentic, value-driven relationships with potential customers that drive real ROI.
What are you waiting for? Visit our website today to supercharge your B2B leadgen!
