Ed is parentified, here's why.

Everyone (on Twitter) is talking about how Ed is traumatized and can't tell anyone about his problems.

The boy is the definition of being parentified.

His dad walked out, his mom passed, he and Al only had like 5 years worth of actually knowing their parents and nobody seemed to look out for either of the boys as soon as Trisha died except maybe Pinako. But nobody really stepped up to take in the orphaned children. Why is that?

Were they not liked? Did they only show up to the funeral because they felt bad for the boys? Was Trisha judged for having kids out of wedlock hence the lack of support over her kids? I'm pretty sure I remember plenty of people showing up to pay their respects at her grave but I'm just speculating based on my poor memory of 03 (which I need to rewatch for the 5th time. We only stan 03 in this blog, sue me.)

He (and Al, at least in 03) desperately sent out letters to whoever sent letters addressed to Hohenheim in the hopes of being able to find their father who was supposed to be responsible for them.

When that became fruitless (sort of) he had to step up and take care of his brother, and decided "cooking mama" would be the better option. Not because they needed a parent but if only to "see her smile again" with the very arts that reminded her of her (very negligent) "husband".

Ed went through Hell and back for his little brother, not only because he felt guilty but because he knew he was guilty of almost losing everything he's got, that everything being Al.

By being the first to touch the array, he was responsible for everything that happened with only Hohenheim being the true catalyst (in this case, in regards to Brotherhood).

What would've happened if he never left? What would've become of the boys had he stayed? That's right, it was all his fault and this ugly story started with him and that damn dwarf pretending to be god. After all, Ed has to turn to the most unlikely source to get all the goddamn information he needed to right his wrongs.

Treachery after treachery, injustice after injustice and there was no one out there who can really understand you. Nobody to confide in because all there really was, was that old man behind the counter who talked in riddles and gave you his dirty work and said "thanks for handling it for me, now here's some scraps", then they preach at you about how you're just a kid, what could you really do?

Well this kid had his arm and leg ripped out by what could've been some eldritch diety and told you if you want to cross the bridge you have to pay the price. Who the Hell is going to understand that? Who the Hell going to believe you even if you told them?

Your teacher who went through the same? Tch, your problems are not hers.

Your brother who witnessed it all? Don't bet on venting to the reason you exist.

The girl next door? Best not to burden her with your crap.

At your age, you are nothing. Just a sad little boy with raging nightmares about how the abomination you created is going to eat you.

Even after being called a "hero" you nearly died several times lost in the woods, lost in the desert, lost in the literal belly of a beast and fighting for a goddamn life that you can barely call a life. All you have is your legs to stand on, and if you falter then what the Hell was it all for? What else will you be willing to give to save the only one who was the most innocent so that he wouldn't have to suffer because of your misguided attempts to play god?

You played your stupid game and you won your stupid prize, now deal with the consequence.

You might be asking yourself, why the Hell is Edmod talking like this? Congratulations, you caught a glimpse at how Ed must think. See how it's really not that hard to understand the thoughts of a 12 year old prodigy who had to put on his big boy pants and tighten his belt?

Alright, long(ish) post time. <None of which will be new news or ideas but this is my blog and I want to blab about it>

Ford coming back very obviously brings up big and complex emotions for Stan. Emotions that he hasn't addressed or worked on between the thirty years of Mr. Mystery-ing by day and rebuilding the portal by night.

To lay things out clearly, Ford is portal-ed away in the middle of a fight that had been simmering for a decade already; Both men had their own struggles and misconceptions about how well off the other was, partially colored by their own hurt feelings about the perpetual motion machine and Stan's subsequent being kicked out. Even though they have their big blowout fight, the last thing Stan hears his brother say is "Do something, Stanley!" A desperate plea that an audience can assume equal parts haunts him and drives him to be as dedicated as he is to right this wrong.

Here I have to digress just a little to explain my interpretation of Ford and Stan given my view of the characters, their traumas and personalities. As children the Stans were mostly on equal footing in and out of their home; Both outcasts for different reasons and as the one-note bully from S2 E12 surmises they are "lucky they have each other." It's clear in that episode that they feel this sentiment to be true. As they grow up, Stanley seems to be the one who holds onto that while Ford wises up to the reality of oncoming adulthood and what his skills and intelligence can do in terms of rising above his station. (Though personally I don't view Ford as driven by status or opulence but rather learning as much as he can about everything, and status just happens to come with the territory sometimes.)

To sum the Stans up: Stanford is raised as an archetypal Golden Child, taught early that his 'faults' can be overlooked so long as he is the best of the best and the smartest. He internalizes this and eventually believes that he truly is the smartest and the most special. Smart enough to be on equal footing with a Muse and special enough to chosen by one in the first place. (Note that I'm not meaning to paint Ford as full of himself but instead showing his biggest flaw of 'arrogance' is instilled in him by a difficult childhood and is something he uses as a cope for anything he doesn't want to feel or think about / so he does not feel worthless.) He shows awareness in hindsight that he's easily drawn in by flattery, so is Stanley and for both of them it stems from their emotionally neglectful father (and though not explicitly abusive on screen...I have my thoughts about Filbrick.) Where Stanford's need for outward approval presents as overachieving and honing his greatness to get very deserved praise, Stanley's wounds show up in a much more 'clockable' way. While today we know that perfectionism and overachieving is unhealthy, it's still always going to be more palatable to outsiders if your psychological wounds present as 'Being Too Successful' instead of emotionally stunted, having scarcity mindset and being homeless for a decade.

I've said this in another post but I'll repeat it here, Stanley was a normal kid. A little troubled on account of his less than desirable parental situation, but fairly typical. He just had the misfortune of being constantly compared to excellence, both in and out of the home. A Scapegoat. His heart is bigger than his head from the beginning and throughout his childhood he's shown as acting on emotion rather than logic. He views himself and Stanford as a package deal and when that's threatened he acts before he can think. He repeats this mistake when he shoves Stanford into the portal. Both Stans become selfish in their own ways as they age, and never really quite grow up.

When Ford comes home they pick up right where they left off: Fighting. It reverts them both back to the younger, hurt versions of themselves. Stan wanted his brother back but he was hoping for a brother that had been just as doggedly yearning for reunion. He wasn't hoping to be held accountable (at least not at first, perhaps not at all.) However accountability is all Stan gets and it only serves to cut away at the already very shallow and frail sense of self worth he has. This in turn is proof to Ford that his brother has only ever done things for his own interest (destroying the perpetual motion machine so Ford will stay in Jersey, sending him into the portal for emotional recompense during a fight, bringing him back so that Ford can grovel and thank him.) and drives a further wedge between them.

Stan falls back on old coping mechanisms of attention seeking, something he likely did a lot as a troubled kid who was overlooked for a brother he was always reminded was better than him. Dipper and Mabel expressing a fondness for Ford doesn't read to him as just two kids being excited about a new cool family member, or for Dipper meeting an idol, but instead touches Stan as the kids choosing Ford. Just like Filbrick chose Ford. Just like every teacher in their hometown, and some fancy college chose Ford. He tries to hold onto normalcy by running the shop, going on his usual road-trip and telling the kids to steer clear of Ford to keep them close or 'on his side'. Stan eventually becomes that hurt, abandoned child again by lashing out and seeking outside approval to show him he has worth by running for mayor.

He probably can't even admit it to himself but the resentment he's feeling towards Ford is coming from an overwhelming guilt. When Ford doesn't thank him, and tells him that he has to leave when summer ends, it feels to Stanley like the one person who could absolve him doesn't see him as worthy. The last thirty years have been spent hoping for forgiveness or understanding, or at least to be shown that he isn't a waste by the one person whose opinion really means something to him.

Ford meanwhile copes by disregarding his emotions and throwing himself headfirst at what he deems to be the real problem at hand: Securing the rift. Holding the universe together is something he can draw up plans for, making up with his twin and delving into a lifetime of regrets is decidedly not.

Ford also regresses by projecting his younger self onto Dipper. He pries Dip away from Mabel and Stan, unintentionally but still noticeably. He perhaps regrets the years he spent bumbling around with an old boat in childhood with Stanley instead of using every moment to build toward his future. His years out of his original dimension combined with the resentment that has had forty years and a fist fight to build on has seemingly made him forget just how close he and Stanley used to be.

In Dipper and Mabel vs. The Future Ford offers to mentor Dipper, to make use of that brain of his instead of seeing him waste it with a regular high-school experience. Dipper expresses concern about leaving Mabel behind, which Ford waves off with a comment about how charismatic she is (likely hinting at how he viewed Stanley back in the day via the snippets he saw of him on TV. I don't personally believe Ford knew how badly Stan was doing back then).

Dipper says, "We've never really been apart before." And Ford answers with, "And isn't it suffocating? Can you honestly tell me you never felt like you were meant for something more?" I find this line to be another projection from Ford. Maybe during their adolescence he felt stifled by Stan or maybe the reasons listed before have convinced him that he felt that way or should have. In any case, Ford seems completely unaware of how important it is to have emotional ties to other people.(Not without good reason: See again, the being in different dimensions for thirty years + emotionally distant father + two gigantic betrayal wounds compounded with being pushed to a mental health crisis.)

Dipper is still a kid and more than that he still actively loves his sister and cherishes his bond with her. While his future is on his mind he isn't exactly chomping at the bit to completely leave her behind. Something that Ford seems to not see here as the adult is that no matter how tedious the years between childhood and adulthood appear to be, they are integral to who one becomes. So too are the people one is surrounded by in those delicate years.

Dipper needs Mabel as much as she needs him, and luckily they do both eventually realize that despite the outward forces at play.

Stan isn't the most responsible adult and since he's pretty stunted himself he doesn't always behave in the most mature ways. What he is, undoubtedly, is devoted to his family. When Mabel is broken up about getting older he offers her some words of comfort, maybe words he wanted to hear when he was young and scared about losing his brother. Maybe if someone told a teenage Stan that growing didn't mean he had to grow-up or that no matter what he'd have his brother through thick and thin, things would have ended differently all those years ago.

Personally think Nick would have picked up a few things about art while sneaking peeks at Abi's workshops and maybe he'd even draw her cute pictures that she doesn't know are from him because they look like a kids drawing.

Anon, this made me cry. This is so fucking cute. I bet she would hold onto some for the memories of camp and he might point one out and be like “that’s mine!” And she doesn’t believe him until she sees the NF that he signed.

Imagine if he asks her to give him art lessons though 🥺

I have a bunch of questions for WS anon since I am interested in other celebs possible pr too!

1. With your job, is it regular for anyone working in the industry to have tea? And do people working in or share what’s real or not?

I would say it gives you the opportunity to hear gossip or rumors that only people in the industry would know. I will say you'd probably need to go out of your way to learn about it. In my case I work with athletes and aside from the people they hookup with, their scandals, vices it's not really a place with tea. But I do make a lot of friends in the industry and we gossip all the time and they share from their respective fields and about the celebs they work with or have a connection to. I guess it's the same as any kind of workplace gossip.

Working in what? You mean working in pr? A celeb's pr team will never tell you what is real/authentic or straight up fake or a mix of both. The most they'll give is what strategies they impose or how they mold things. But not directly, oh this is fake btw. For obvious reasons, they keep a lot of things secret and things only they would know. A lot of friends in pr do like sharing input or teach our gc how things go or look for the signs or the strategies we wouldn't even have figured without their help. A lot of times we also just hear a lot of rumors from inside sources that just outward contradicts what is being presented by the media/pr play of a celeb.

2. Can you tell me your thoughts on often thought pr couples? I am not a harrie at all and I see this from pop culture blogs.

lily/timmy - I don't know if it's pure pr or not but I've at least heard Timmy was also hooking up with other women during all those times he was with Lily. A lot of people have told me it's pure pr/mostly pr though. They did seem like a nice match as future it girl/boy but their reunion it didn't seem as interesting.

seb/ale - I actually don't follow either of those two enough. I thought Seb has always been pretty open about his gfs? At least I thought him and Leighton were pretty public. For his current gf, if it's pr then he hasn't gain a lot of fame imo. The only place I see him relevant or getting talked about is the tumblr/twitter stans which while loud isn't that big. I mean his fans sure let his last film flop hard, I doubt the BO was even enough to pay him.

henry/nat - I feel like I blocked out Henry's love life when he was dating a 19 year old. But I would say this is real. Until I see Natalie suddenly becoming a star I'd say this is pretty standard for Henry. Him and Kaley, yeah none of you can convince me that was real.

chris/jenny - A lot of people will kill me, but since Jessie admitted she also thinks they're pr then I'll admit I do too.

tom/zendaya - I think they're real. Either way I love it. We can probably judge based on how long this will last.

shawn/camila - real, but my friend says they're way more subdued in private at least

If you're asking if I think they're pure pr, I don't know what happens when they're alone together to say it's all fake. I imagine hiddleswift, abelena, ben/ana probably hookup in private but was never as serious or real as they made it appear. If you're asking if they're real and using it for pr, well yeah I would say all of these would qualify as they're using it for pr too which isn't a bad thing. Like Ryan/Blake are obviously real and using their relationship for publicity.

3. Do you think hiddleswift was bad pr for Tom?

Not really. I do think it was meant to be longer with a full better rollout and ended too early with Taylor backing out. As someone who considers herself a self-hating swiftie, Tom gained a lot of loyal fans in the fandom for example and hiddleswift was pretty memorable pop culture moment in general.

4. How do you really feel about the holivia questions and harries in general since you tend to get the most abuse from them?

I'm irritated because of the angry anons and people who can't respect opinion. Other than that, my opinion on holivia still remains the same and it will not physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, or financially hurt either Harry or Olivia. In the first place, I don't remember ever spending money for them. I think as long as Jessie allows pop culture discussion and allows the question, we can all and should respect opinion. I'm not in any way anti or pro holivia. I don't mind a pr relationship cause to me it's a normal and harmless part of their job. I also don't think pr should be equated as bad at all. We're kidding ourselves if we don't think celebs are like this.

5. I’m just basing this from the harry stans in this blog, but how do you see Harry benefit from holivia?

I already said this to my one harrie friend here but I always saw his fans overestimate his fame. Harry is big but he isn't BIG. He hasn't come to the level of Taylor, Drake, Ed, JB, or their counterparts for actors. Every celeb who came at that level went to levels of attention seeking and pr. When you're trying to venture into film, there are separate pr that could also be demanded from you. Being big in one industry doesn't equate to being an instant hit or success in the other. Especially when the film industry does have a lot of hesitation with singers to actors. Especially when with Harry he seems to want to be taken as a serious actor rather than the easy going route many of his contemporaries have done to jump start their acting career. Harry is being talked about a lot by blogs and accounts that used to barely mention him before. He is being discussed as a regular gossip which didn't happen for years. Imo fans just think he's too big for anything or that he is immune to pr or attention seeking. Me and my friends never saw him that way and we also never saw Harry as incredibly relevant or big, rather than he has an incredibly dedicated fanbase

Question for WS anon but I would also like to hear your opinion Jessie? Do you think Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling call the paps . Because I've generanlly heard that he is an extremely private ccelebrity but all those spottinga with his kid don't necessarily seem very organic to me Also are there any celebs that dont really call the paps?

You can be a private celeb and still call the paps. Ryan is a private guy but he has always been pretty open who he's dating and end of day they don't give us a lot of update or info about their relationship. Abel has started calling the paps a lot, but in hindsight he's still very private about himself.

I think the only celebs who don't call the paps are ones who don't have publicist.

HELLO? so it really feels less like "extremely strong empathy for everyone that he cant control" and more like "he can empathize with serial killers extremely well and also other people if we want to Make A Point in one scene instead of letting the point show through the whole book") BUT UHHH ANYWAY. MOVIE THOUGHTS. THE MOVIE THOUGHTS YOU ASKED FOR COMING RIGHT UP!

okay this is what i am worried will either 1. draw annoying tv will graham stans to my blog like flies or 2. end with me being hanged in the town square BUT. it must be said. i prefer 2002 red dragon will graham to tv will graham. and quite frankly? so far? i think 2002 red dragon will graham is better than book will graham. i cannot lie.

my reasoning: because 2002 will actually empathizes with more people than serial killers and his boss! y'know! like you'd assume someone with constant extreme empathy would! the difference between the first scene with molly in the book vs in the movie are SO striking to me now that i've read that part of the novel. in the novel he seems very... rough, i guess, and like he doesnt care about molly's worries. he doesnt seem to see things from her perspective, which especially feels like a kick to the gut because MOLLY! SEES! THINGS! FROM! HIS! PERSPECTIVE!!! she literally empathizes with him more than he does with her! what the fuck! MEANWHILE in the movie, he does seem to care about her. his assurances that he wont get too involved seem like assurances rather than him trying to get her off his back. he hugs her and tells her he loves her and i actually believe that yeah, he loves her, he knows she's worried about him, and he wants to comfort her and ease her worries. and the victims! AGAIN such a stark difference to me! in the book, will is like... uncomfortable empathizing w the red dragon, of course, but he doesnt seem to empathize with the victims all that much, ESPECIALLY not the women. he doesnt care about them. he sees them as possessions belonging to their husbands and its so fucking gross. despite already suspecting that the red dragon chooses families based on the women, he decides to waste time focusing on the husbands as a way of "asking permission to look at [their wives]." what the fuck? meanwhile in the film, he feels for the victims so much that he can barely even say that the kids were shot in bed! when he watches the tapes, he focuses on the women! because that's his fucking job!!! and we see him empathizing with them! wow!!

siiigh okay im gonna stop talking abt the book vs the movie now bc again im only like 8 chapters or so deep. but now we come to tv will vs. 2002 will, which is admittedly gonna be more subjective and part of that it bc i cant remember a whole lot of specifics from the show bc my memory is Very Bad. but anyway

let's get the shallow stuff out of the way. yes i prefer ed norton's face to hugh dancy's. call hugh dancy "gender" or whatever have your fun i support you and your right to call any blood covered man a gender but by god is that not even REMOTELY my experience. next shallow thing to get out of the way: ed norton's line delivery is like music to my FUCKING ears compared to hugh dancy's i am so sorry. like the jokes about will shaking like a damp chihuahua before taking 5 minutes to stutter out "he's killing them....... On Purpose, jack." are funny and all but christ i had SUCH a hard time watching the show bc of that im not lying. literally hearing 2002 will just say "he's not keeping them. he's eating them." nice and quick, matter of factly is better than well im actually gonna end that sentence there but you get the idea. like YESSS you little blonde bitch get to the point i love you!!!

OKAY NOW less shallow points but also less uhh idk man i just dont remember a lot of hannibal. but basically: after seeing how caring 2002 will is, i'm kind of... idk i'm just so over tv will and how abrasive and harsh he is in comparison. like i fell in LOVE with how vulnerable 2002 will is, how he feels like he cares deeply about the people around him (and honestly... idk i cant remember a moment in the hannibal tv series that made me feel the way i felt when 2002 will can't say "the kids were shot in their beds". it's like... yeah this is a guy who feels so deeply for everyone around him at all times. i believe that.) and i just dont remember getting that same feeling from tv will. i have been gently spoon fed the most excellent chocolate pudding and everything else in my memory is just a snack pack. i guess tv will has those moments (what comes to mind is when he brings gideon to hannibal's house and is crying and he says "please dont lie to me") but idk they just didnt really do for me what 2002 will does. and then their scenes with reba! wow! i rewatched the tv version after watching red dragon, bc the film version made me tear up, meanwhile the tv version i barely remembered and i wasnt sure if that was just bc of the different mindsets i was in while watching them or what. and ok i just rewatched the tv version again and like... yeah. it's the wills lol. i LOVEEE tv reba SO much she is giving everything in that scene!! she sounds so like... broken, both bc of dolarhyde's apparent suicide and bc of finding out who he was + what he was doing, she sounds so fragile and guilt ridden! she's amazing!! but will. idk. tv will's delivery just seems... idk this feels dumb to say but it sounds like writing. i admittedly LOVE the line "people who study this kind of thing say that he was trying to stop because you helped him." and his delivery there is good. but between tv "you didnt draw a freak, you drew a man w a freak on his back" and the 2002 version, the 2002 delivery seems more genuine while the tv delivery sounds rehearsed. idk overall the 2002 version of that conversation just makes me feel more? its like. idk i can feel the 2002 version gently holding my heart while the tv version is a scene that is nice in h/nnigram gifsets or w/e.

umm ok this is already suuuper long and my brain is getting a bit mushy so i'm gonna start wrapping it up lol. i'll probably compare book will and 2002 will again after i finish the book, and then i miiight rewatch hannibal, or at least parts of s3. but right now my thoughts are basically: book will is a fucking dick who has an easier time empathizing with serial killers than with his wife. tv will is a nothing girl after being so completely catered to + also idk he doesnt have the same fragility that i want from my wills now. and 2002 will is my little caramel apple. he has this delightful vulnerability and feels like he cares so much and empathizes with more people than serial killers and his boss and 4 people in a diner for one scene! 2002 will made me care about will graham! which is honestly kind of a feat!

Have you ever dealt with food-restriction or ED or whatever?

I really debated answering this one. I understand that it's a sensitive topic for a lot of people, and I do go into some personal details with my struggles, so I'm going to put most of that under a cut.

I know a lot of blogs have something like "we do not stan ED in this house" and that's the extent of their address on the topic and some get pretty angry if anyone even mentions ED around them. I get it, it's a triggering topic and it can be unhealthy and maybe hearing about it or seeing it or whatever pushes someone (back) into bad habits. I understand all that. In my opinion though, shutting down the topic is problematic. I believe that destigmatization saves lives--and not just for ED. Making it a dirty little secret and something one feels ashamed of talking about or struggling with creates more problems. It doesn't go away just because someone feels they cannot talk about it. I'm on the side of destigmatization--where "how are you" is an actual question rather than a casual greeting where "good" or "great" are the only acceptable answers. No--it's supposed to be a question and we shouldn't have to feel ashamed when we are going through crap. Maybe neither party has time to get into it then and there and maybe the other party isn't comfortable/or the right person to go to with those particular issues...but "how are you" is supposed to be a genuine question, not a greeting.

Short answer to whether or not I've dealt with food-restriction or ED: yes.

I don't want to invite drama onto my blog with this...but I think it's time I said something on the topic. For one, I'm sick of how people go "we don't stan ana on this blog--GTFO"  and leave the discussion at that. I don't think that is healthy. People that actually struggle with EDs and Ana maybe want to get help...but professional/formal help is not always accessible and not necessarily always the right tool for what they are going through in that moment. I understand that EDs are unhealthy and I am not trying to glorify them...but I want to say that I care about the people struggling with the stuff and I admire their resilience. There's enough shaming going on around the world and I'm not going to dish it out to someone struggling with an ED. I'm not going to make it out to be something that's taboo to talk about like it's some dirty little secret. I want to de-stigmatize it. I want a world where someone can be like, "I struggle with food/eating and I had a setback last night" and those of us listening can be like, "Alright. Is there something you need/want me to do with that information? How can I help?" Currently, I see a lot of, "Shh! That's a triggering topic! Do you want to set off all the other ED suffer-ers in here?! Don't talk about that noise!" even in my IRL friend groups and I think it's just sad. These are the same friends that are constantly reblogging, "It's okay to not be okay" and “I’m a safe person to tell stuff to” stuff but clearly they don't believe that.

The way I see it, living with EDs is like living with a pet alligator. It was once small and cute and early on maybe you made one choice: you chose to keep it. Great...well, now it's grown and it's a problem and you don't know what to do with a full-grown alligator that eyes you like you're it's next meal. Who do you talk to when everyone shuts you down and maybe there isn't an "animal control" number you can reach out to because it's expensive or it doesn't exist in your area or they're so over-booked that you'll be alligator-chum before they get to you? That's how I see ED. It's terrifying but it's still 'your' pet alligator, even if you feel more like it's pet human at times.

Onto the personal aspects.

I've never been officially diagnosed with an ED and I don't believe I've ever done something that's extremely dangerous on this front. That being said I have (and sometimes still do) struggle with intrusive thoughts about my body.

I'm "average" sized...maybe on the bigger side of average in North America...however, there's a different standard in Asian culture. Like the "Asian F". I was always told I was supposed to be smaller. I was supposed to be no more than 5'3, no more than 110lbs, have a bust no bigger than 34C, and be able to fit into anything marketed to teens and up. Yeah...I'm none of that.

I'm going to try not to rant and get angry and upset...so here goes, take 7 on trying to answer this.

I grew up surrounded by judgmental adults. I eat and I'm fat; I refuse to eat or eat less and I'm exhibiting worrisome behavior. My take away: I bring dishonour on my cow no matter what I do. Sure, there are those that'll be like, "they'll judge me whether I eat or not so I may as well eat some good food"...yeah...that's not me. Choosing to skip the meal and the company entirely is the only way I feel/felt like I 'win'...but as a child that wasn't an option.

I mostly ate alone in University, but my brain filled in for the silence of judgmental comments. If I ate my whole lunch in one sitting I'd get upset with myself. I'd pack smaller portions and I'd be aware they were smaller, but I'd still be upset with myself for finishing it...or even finishing it and still being hungry. If I caved and bought a sugary drink or a snack or something because it looked good, I'd scold myself for using up the food budget as well as the calories budget. I used to break apart individual cookies--one cookie would take 3-4 sittings/days for me to allow myself to finish because I'd only allow myself two fractured pieces at a time. Some days, i.e. weekends, I'd intentionally skip a meal or two and rationalize that I was simply indulging in kink and that I'd eat later. I always did end up eating later and going about my life as normal. "Fasting once in a while is supposed to be healthy", I'd tell myself...but I won't deny that there was some part of me that would tell me that every skipped meal and calorie ignored was gradually working toward shrinking my body.

Despite how it sounds, I wasn't actually doing noticable damage to my body. Physically, I was within the realm of healthy...maybe on the bigger side of average and definitely not mentally sound...but my body was fine. My body didn't change--I didn't gain or lose weight. I ate...I just felt bad about it and beat myself up about it. In retrospect, it was a heck of a lot of mental anguish I did to myself with nothing to show for it.

Life after University is pretty stressful. Stress doesn't agree with my tummy so I got (and still get) frequent upset stomachs. I've become pretty conscious of eating and how my stomach feels so I end up being careful to eat less so that there is less to upset my tummy. I do it because an upset stomach is inconvenient...but I do enjoy the fact that it seems I have lost a little weight. Losing weight isn't a big part of my rational though. My coworkers have mentioned that I look thinner. I don’t see much of a change when I look in the mirror...but my belt does up two notches tighter without too much fuss so I guess I have slimmed down just a smidge. I didn't intend to lose weight, I just cut down on eating because I didn't want to deal with so many upset stomachs...I think I'm allowed to enjoy the unintentional weight loss without it being a problem...but if I had a problem then I guess what I think about this situation doesn't count for much.

I wish I was thinner--just enough to fit into acceptable sizes in the women's section. Enough to not feel like "the big one" when among my friends. I don't idealize the extremes of weight-loss...like...I don't want to be able to count my ribs or have my joints be wider around than my biceps or whatever. And I don't feel like I'm obsessed with losing weight/being thinner. It's something I want...but I also want a burrito and a can of Cola. I tend to partake more than I deny myself nowadays...just in smaller portions. I’ll still get mad at myself for indulging...but I do indulge and try to lessen the mental kicking by splitting things between two meals or something. I still break apart my cookies and eat them over the course of a couple of days...but most of that is because I run out of time to enjoy the treat or because I want to ration it so that I don't have to spend money to buy another one every single time. I don't try to count calories and all that. I still see eating less as a good thing...but I'll still eat a decent portion...I won't pick at my food rather than eat it.

My opinion here, but I don't think I'm unhealthily obsessing over weight and body issues and stuff. They're a part of my life but I don't think they do enough to be super problematic at this stage in my life.

And now onto the tie-in with the content on this blog. I've answered quite a few asks about how I feel about 'stuffing' and the thing that rhymes with "Geight Wain" with "for reasons I don't want to share, I'm not comfortable with that stuff". Most of the reasons I was thinking of for those asks is covered in the personal stuff above. I'm not comfortable with stuffing and the big "double-u gee" because for all of my life I've felt or internalized some judgements about body size and weight. It's very upsetting for me. It's also why I hate a lot of the degradation talk and things mentioning chub or fat or rolls or whatever--because it brings be back to being a kid sitting amongst judgmental adults feeling ashamed of how much of the universe’s matter I took up. If other people like those tags they're free to do so...I just don't want that sort of thing shoved into my face or imposed onto me because it makes me feel bad and makes me remember bad times. I’m into tum-kink and stuff and would love to indulge IRL with an actual partner someday...but I don’t think I will ever be comfortable with putting on weight or even RPing something like that. The thought of getting bigger terrifies me and it’s not something I want encouragement for personally. You do you if that’s what you’re into...just leave me out of it.

Eddie kept his head down as he walked into the school, his hands holding the straps of his backpack tight, weaving in and out of the throngs of students who were hanging out by their lockers waiting for the bell to ring. It was his first day of Derry High School, having just moved there with his dad after his parent’s nasty divorce. Of course, she had tried to obtain full custody, but the court sided with his dad once the information about her giving him placebos came to light.

Before, he had lived in New York, a busy city where he had no idea who any of his neighbours were. Now, he was living in a small town where everyone said hello to one another in the street and no secrets were kept. Not a single one. His dad had grown up here, and his parents had left them their house, which was where the two of them moved in to. It was nice, decent sized and it felt more like a home than the apartment in New York the three of them had shared.

Yet, even through all of the move and the divorce and the custody case, the most terrifying thing about all of this, to Eddie, was starting a new school. He walked up to the main office, knocking on the glass window to get the receptionists attention. She smiled and pulled the glass open, looking across at him. “How can I help you?”

Eddie held out the letter his dad had received from the school, passing it to the lady. “I’m Eddie Kaspbrak. Today is my first day.”

A look of recognition passed over the lady’s face and she nodded her head, passing him a new sheet of paper over the counter. “Of course you are, we’ve been expecting you. This is your class schedule as well as a map of the school. It’s rather small though so you won’t get lost. I’ll take you to the first class and there'll be plenty of students who will help you to your other classes.” She moved to the door and met him on the other side, just as the bell rang. They walked down the corridor and stopped outside of a locker. “This is yours.”

Eddie watched as she passed him the combination and he unlocked the locker, placing his lunch and other items into the safe place and locking it once more. She lead him further down the corridor and stopped outside another classroom filled with student’s. “Is this my class?” He asked and she nodded, knocking on the door and walking in with him.

The students were all settling down, pulling out their pens, pencils and notebooks, but they all looked to the door as Eddie stepped in. He wanted to cower behind the receptionist, as he hated having too much attention on him. The teacher looked up and smiled. “Ah, Mr Kaspbrak.” He ushered him forward. “Everyone, this is Eddie, he’s our new student. Please be nice to him.” He pointed to the empty chair next to a boy with auburn red hair. “Take a seat next to Mr Denbrough.”

Without much argument, Eddie took the assigned seat and pulled his supplies out. He turned to smile at his neighbour and waved a little. “Hi, I’m Eddie.”

“Bill,” the boy grinned. “Nice to meet you. Derry never gets new kids so you’ve been the talk of the school for a while. The last new kid we had was Ben back in Middle School, you’ll meet him later, he’s part of our friend group.”

Eddie relaxed a little at how friendly Bill was, and the class passed by uneventfully. In fact, the whole morning passed without anything too crazy happening, and soon it was lunchtime. He had been lucky and Bill had been in all of his classes, which meant Eddie was sticking to him like glue. When the bell rang for lunch, Bill walked Eddie to his locker to pick up his lunch before they made their way to the cafeteria. It was already swarming with students and Eddie felt his stomach clench before Bill was tugging him over to a table were three kids their age sat.

“Guys! This is Eddie.” Bill introduced him as he took a seat next to one of the boys. All the eyes turned to him, smiles on their faces and Eddie took a seat next to the boy with well kept hair and a high collar shirt. “This is Stan,” Bill pointed to the boy next to him, “Ben and Mike.” They all waved as Bill called their names, so Eddie knew who each of them were. “Bev and Richie will be here soon, they always go for a smoke first.”

Stan turned to Eddie then, “Richie is a lot, he makes crude jokes, is generally loud and is just…very talkative. We all love him, but he can be a bit much for someone who doesn’t know him.” He took a bite of his carrot stick, smiling softly and Eddie couldn’t help but smile back.

He pulled his lunch out of his bag and took the opportunity to scan his eyes over the lunch hall. As his eyes landed on the door, two students walked through; a girl with fiery red hair and a boy who towered over everyone, dark curls and thick framed glasses perched on his nose. Eddie felt his mouth run dry at the sight of him, cheeks slightly flushed. It was then, that he realised they were heading in their direction.

“Hello chaps, what a wonderful Monday this is turning out to be, what do you think?” The boy spoke immediately and took a seat next to Ben, arm wrapping around his shoulders. The girl rolled her eyes and shoved him out of the way before taking his spot, pressing a kiss to Ben’s cheek. He recovered after a moment, and his eyes locked on Eddie’s across the table. “Well hello there cutie…” he drawled.

“It’s Eddie,” Eddie shot back, not knowing where the confidence came from, but not complaining. “My name is Eddie.”

Recognition passed over who Eddie assumed was Richie’s face, and he moved around the table to sit opposite him. From closer up, Eddie could see the freckles that littered Richie’s cheeks and he held back a groan. Why did he have to be good looking? “Well Eds...I’m Richie Tozier. At your service.” He picked up Eddie’s hand and, keeping their eyes locked, pressed a kiss to the top of it. His eyes darted away for a moment, landing on his lunch. “Holy shit, is that applesauce?”

Eddie winced a little, pulling his hand back fast and he bit his lip. Yes, Eddie was an applesauce addict, sue him. Back in New York he was picked on relentlessly for eating the snack meant for toddlers. “Y-Yeah...it is. What’s it to you?”

Everyone around the table groaned and Eddie tilted his head in confusion as Richie picked up the tub, grinning. “I fucking love applesauce.” He sat the tub down, passing it back to Eddie. “Like...love the stuff.”

That took Eddie by surprise and he reached back into his back, pulling out a spare tub he had, handing it over to Richie. “Do you want this one?” He asked and he couldn’t help but smile when Richie’s face lit up, accepting the snack.’

“Eds, Eddie Spaghetti. This is going to be the start of a beautiful friendship.” Richie grinned with a wink and Eddie felt his cheeks flush.

He couldn’t wait.

That's right, not Beverly. Patti has one(!) chapter and somehow I fell in love with her character while reading it. She's got her own story before Stan and she's got a very very very beautiful relationships with him.

(I'm so in love with Uris family I mean whyyyy can't I just have some Stan with his pretty wife and a CHILD THANK U VERY MUCH)

OK, let's talk about it. I was kinda neutral to everyone in the Loser club except Richie for a year or more. Then while being in fandom I fell in love with these guys like with everyone of 'em concluding Bill. But when I decided to actually read a book... why is he so stupid and careless and fjligvdsvfuklugxseggh

I really tried not to be "of course u let kid go alone what will happen right??" but this.fucking.weather.this.fucking.fact.that.Georgie.told.him.he.was.about.to.go.to.the.closed.area.u.know.closed.bc.it.was.dangerous.to.go.there like BOY, u killed ur brother when he stepped out of the house HAVE U EVEN LOOKED TO THE WINDOW???? I saw mini series some time ago and that was cute and had a lot from the book (and abult Eddie-) but it was so naive and looked kinda stupid (sorry everyone but I'm the new auditory and I can't get that seriously especially after new films) while new films... Weeelll...

Let's be honest, I saw It 2017 only bc of James McAvoy in the second chapter and I found it boring. And then the second part I found more like a comedy than horror. I didn't like films that time but I liked characters (Richie). Some weeks ago I rewathed both It 2017 and It 2019 and second one is still too long and a comedy but first I found interesting

So remake is great at least on the second time watching and that's enough

Why do u need to ask such difficult questions?? I mean, I love every version of Pennywise no matter if it's book or 1990 or 2017-2019 they all are great in their own ways

So both Tim and Bill have an extreme charisma, different but equal in power

I like Tim's Penny bc he's simple and warm I mean c'mon I would definetly hug him or anything and die happy, I mean, he just got ur trust??? And I like how bad effects make him seams not like an awful monster who will eat u but like a friendly mischief (listen me up: he makes sink dirty right after Bev cleaned it up like phhhhhhhhahaha really u're a moron u know). Yeah, that's not that Pennywise is meant to be but that's adorable

And I love Bill's version bc he does look scary (in a some way, of course). Yeah yeah new effects are doing their work and the costume is less friendly than Tim's but the most important is Bill's acting. His mimic and expressions are perfect he fits this role way too good. And, damn, he's so funny like... Yeah, I'd spend my last minutes with him he's great, that would be the most hilarious death I could ever get

Seriously, I found him irritating watching 1st movie first time but after 2d started I've changed my mind he's a diamond that makes films better like he's the only reason I didn't fall asleep while watching 2d part

OK, let's say we don't count the book here. Bc, u know, the fears in the book was, well, like actually kid's fears. Like someone just saw a horror film great now they've got a deep emotional trauma that's like kids work.
