1960s and 70s sci-fi and fantasy made me queer.
Specifically, John Varley's short story "The Phantom of Kansas" made me genderqueer.
I was bi before that and honestly the spark of that is lost in my early childhood... maybe it was the never-ending portrayal of women as the gender protagonists are attracted to? I mean, this was the early 80s and powerful female characters were few and far between, so if I'm identifying with the protagonist and the protag is falling in love with women, surely I could, too ... or at least enjoy the delights of their delectable bodies.
