#we need to treat more sea animals like the puppies they are

Okay, so I signed up for the @pjo-halloween-trade and got to make a fanfic for @hazellevessque. I hope this checked all your boxes, Alice!
Nico was about to either walk out of the Apollo Cabin or cave in and say yes when he saw Will’s puppy eyes out of the corner of his eye. He threw his arms down.
“Do not bring those out,” He snapped, but Will knew he wasn’t really angry.
“Just say yes, Nico. It’s only a costume and you need to have fun at least once in your life!” Kayla said, walking in from her archery lesson.
“Yeaaaa Nico. Pleeeaseee?” William has getting on his nerves now, but Nico couldn’t stop himself from feeling a swell of affection for his boyfriend. Plus, his puppy eyes were kinda cute.
“Oh my gods, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but fine!” Nico exclaimed.
“YESSS!” Will jumped up and down in excitement. Nico had never seen him so happy, (maybe apart from the time when Nico asked him out for the first time), “Okay, so I was thinking we could go as Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker and I could be Luke if that’s alright so when-“
“Will”
“We go trick-or-treating you say ‘Luke, I am your father’ cos technically your old enough to be my father even though we’re together but-“
“Will. Will, I would be happy to be Darth Vader but don’t overthink this. It’s just a costume!”
“Not just a costume. It’s a Halloween costume, possibly the best night of the year at camp,” Kayla cuts in.
“Wow, you guys really take Halloween seriously here, huh?”
“Yep, it’s Camp tradition. October 31st, everyone puts treats outside of the cabins, and we go around and trick-or-treat, and then we have a special campfire with Halloween theme!” Will says.
“Okay, okay. You better get started on that costume then, huh?”
“No, he’ll just get the Cabin 11 to go and raid the nearest costume shop”
Will puts his hands up in admittance.
~ Kronos Time Skip ~
“Nico!” Hazel shouted as she ran into Camp.
“Hazel! What are you doing here?”
“Camp Jupiter doesn’t do Halloween since Rome is Catholic so Frank and me came here, maybe just for this year so we could see what it’s like,” Hazel explained. “Oh, and I think Percy and Annabeth are coming too.”
“Yes!” That came from behind Nico. “Oops, sorry. Did I not tell you Nico? I’m really close with Annabeth and Percy.”
“Oh no, that’s fine,” Nico assured.
Nico suddenly ran into Hazel and hugged her hard.
“Whoah, Neeks, are you okay?” Hazel asked, hugging him back.
“-Missed you, Hazelnut,” Nico replies, muffled.
“I missed you too!” Hazel says, now squeezing harder. “Let’s go to Cabin 13, yeah? We have a lot to catch up on”
~ another time skip ~
“So, how’s Camp?” Hazel starts the conversation off.
“It’s good.” Nico explains how Camp is going -and his relationship with Will- and the activities and a more like that.
Soon, he trails off and notices Hazel looks really tired.
“Are you alright?”
“What? Oh yeah, I’m fine,” Hazel reassures, but is quickly cut off with a yawn.
“Hey! Why are you so tired?” Nico asks.
“Just Preator stuff and-“ She’s cut off by another yawn.
“Okay, you’re going to bed. Now,” Nico orders.
“Fine,” Hazel says.
Nico tucks her in, kisses her forehead and leaves to go find Will.
~time skip~ (it’s now Halloween)
“Good?” Nico asks Will. It’s now Halloween, and every cabin has decorations and treats outside.
“Yes, yes, yes, yes!” Will exclaims. “You look amazing!”
“So do you!” Nico chuckles. “So, are we ready?”
“Yes! Let’s go!”
They step out of Cabin 7 and make their way to Cabin 1. Cabin 1 has thunderbolts outside and mini lightning bolt sweets. Nico and Will both take three.
Cabin 3 has waves and sweets shaped like sea animals.
And so on, they walk around Camp trick-or-treating.
When they’re done, they head back to Cabin 7 for a special pyjama movie night, but with horror movies. They settle down with Kayla, Austin, Hazel, Frank, and Percy and Annabeth. Wait, Percy and Annabeth?
“Percy!” Will shrieks, jumping on top of Percy.
“Good to see you too, dude. How’s life?”
Will and Percy start talking while Annabeth catches up with Hazel, with BeetleJuice on in the background.
It was perfect. Nico was finally surrounded with all his loved ones, but he couldn’t help thinking he wished Bianca was here. But, he had a home and a family, and that was enough for him.

Just me rambling 🙂
You know what I’ve been thinking about all day? The fact that we as humans essentially demonized the sweetest animals ever. I could give so many examples. Like how ravens are associated with death/despair/gothic themes simply because of their black coloration when in reality they’re incredibly intelligent (literally as smart as human toddlers since they mastered delayed gratification.)
Or how vultures are associated with death/disease just bc they happen to primarily be scavengers when they’re also shown to be remarkably intelligent, mate for life, and are very affectionate to one another and human caretakers. (Vultures are my favorite bird of prey they’re so misunderstood😤.)
Sharks have been portrayed as vicious and bloodthirsty ever since the movie, Jaws, came out; and as a result of the film, were hunted until they became endangered. So much so that the director of the original film devoted the remainder of his life to Great White shark conservation. Sharks in reality are sea puppies who just bite things bc they’re curious. Great white sharks can form life-long friendships and lemon sharks absolutely love getting pets from divers. So much so that they get jealous when their favorite diver pets another shark! (I love lemon sharks sm😫!!!) Also there’s a small shark called a shy shark that just curls into a ball as a defense mechanism. They’re so cute😩
I can admit that I’m a little afraid of spiders (big ones at least) and I don’t wanna come near them or touch them. But I also would never wanna hurt them! Especially since they’re so vital to the ecosystem by consuming harmful bugs. Like lots of small animals, they only attack bc they’re scared. Lots of smaller spider species actually have been studied by zoologists and were found to have their own individual characteristics! (Ex. one spider hates light, the other doesn’t mind it, one eats prey immediately, the other waits a bit, etc. It’s so cool! They could legit have their own personalities!)
And don’t even get me started on what we did to rats! I understand they mostly likely started the Bubonic Plague and therefore, were associated with disease and uncleanliness. But what do you expect when they travel on merchant ships (which at the time, were horrendously filthy) and in the modern day, are found in big cities that are known for being filthy? That’s humans’ fault! Rats are just going where the food is (same for raccoons and foxes.) They’re actually very clean animals who groom themselves regularly. They also are extremely intelligent and need to be stimulated by having a friend with them since they can form lasting attachments very easily. I love rats so much and I would love to get a pet rat but they only live for 4-5 years so I know I wouldn’t be able to take the grief when they die so soon. There are SO many more animals I could talk about (and I might eventually) that we did so dirty. Sorry this was so long I just have so many thoughts and I love animals so much and I hate the way they’re treated. Not expecting anyone to really read this tbh I just needed to get my thoughts out. Basically, these sweet animals deserve so much better.
#animals#animal lover#nature#wildlife#animal facts#we did them so dirty#they don’t deserve this#I thoroughly considered zoology or vet sciences for my major but I could not take all the math classes#I do like volunteering at my local animal shelter tho#I mostly just clean tbh

Pity
A drabble about one of the White Ash Girls, Miss Nyla Drake.
@marrondrawsalot @dinoscribe-lavendernights
🖤💜🖤
"What do you mean you're not going to be here?" Nyla said into the phone.
"Honey I'm sorry." Said the sickly sweet voice in the other side. Nyla hated that tone with all her being.
"Mom, you promised you would be here."
"I know I know. It's just that-"
"Let me guess." Nyla interrupted. "Henry has a game. Or Henry got a a certificate for being such a special boy?"
"Nyla thats not fair, you know that-"
"Henry needs you more." Nyla clenched her jaw. "Don't worry. At least I have Dad. Like always."
"Nyla-"
"Goodbye, Mother." Nyla hung up the phone and breathed. She really ought to know better by now than to expect better from her mother's empty promises. Yet here she was in an empty hall trying to calm her ragged breathing. Nyla sniffled. You will not cry. She told herself. You're better than wasting your tears on her.
Nyla put her phone in her ceremonial dresses pocket and went to join the crowd of people at the front of the school. She searched everywhere in the sea of arriving parents and guardians for her father. The well over six foot fae man with horns was not difficult to spot. Though the near identical one beside him was a surprise. Both sporting the same pitch black hair and violet slitted eyes as her.
"Dad! Grandfather!" Nyla hastened towards them and into her fathers arms. At least I always have him... "Mom's not coming." She said, her voice muffled in her fathers chest.
Nyla saw the two exchange a glance. "Her loss then." Her grandfather commented, patting her on the back. "Now tell us about these awards you're winning."
Nyla grinned. "I placed in the top ten of the honor roll," she said proudly, straightening her back. "Along with an award for excellence in alchemy. And proficiency in animal speech."
"That's my girl," her father said warmly. "I'm so proud."
"Nice to see all those tutors are paying off." Though even as her grandfather said it, he patted her on the shoulder. Nyla knew that was as close to being warm and fuzzy as he got. But she did not mind.
"I say we treat her to a nice dinner to celebrate tonight. Hows that sound?”
"Can I invite my friend, Trixie?" Nyla asked.
"Of course, Love."
" 'kay. I'm gonna go find her, you two better go find your seats before they fill up."
Nyla hurried off to look for Trixie, but could not find the beast girl in the sea of people.
She did however see Phillpas father scoop her up happily. "That's my girl!" He cheered excitedly.
Nyla turned away and walked off.
"Juno, sweety, you have a smudge on your face."
"Maaaa!" The tall girl whined as her mother licked a handkerchief and wiped her daughters face.
Nyla shook her head and walked off. So much fuss for nothing.
"Puppy!" A fashionable woman in a fur coat called as Isabelle hurried towards her.
"Mother, you're going to smother her." The equally fashionable younger man said as he affectionately embraced the girl as well.
Nyla felt a familiar ugly feeling ball up in the pit of her stomach. Why couldn't her mom be that enthusiastic to see her like everyone elses parents? She made top marks in everything and the woman couldn't care less. Nyla couldn’t remember a time her mother peppered her face in kisses like Lillith Crewel was doing to Isabelle. Or lovingly fussed over her like Junos mother. Or even looked at her with pride like Phillipas father.
Nyla hated this feeling so much. She hated pity, especially self pity. As she pulled herself away, a hand grabbed her shoulder.
“There you are.” Trixie said. “Did you find your dad?”
Nyla snapped out of it and nodded. “Yes, and my grandfather as well. Is your uncle here?”
The beast girl shook her head. “Nah he’s got gigs lined up back home, so he couldn’t come. Said he’s sending a gift though.”
“Well my dad said we’re going to dinner later, you can come.”
“That sounds great, count me. Now come on. The ceremony is starting soon.”
---
Nyla smoothed her hands over her skirt. Even though there wasn’t a wrinkle to be found on the delicate white lace.
“Remember ladies,” Constance, the Headmages assistant said as she strode down the corridor. “Single file as you walk down and find your seats. You will wait for your name to be called.”
“So nervous...” Said a voice behind Nyla. She turned to find Isabelle wringing her hands.
“What do you have to be nervous about?”
Isabelle looked at her with surprise, like she didn’t expect Nyla to talk to her at all. “It’s nothing. I’ve just never been in an awards ceremony this fancy before.”
Nyla only rolled her eyes. “Are you even going on stage?”
Isabelle nodded. “Yes actually.”
“What award could Miss Magicless possibly get anyway?” It wasn’t fair. Nyla thought to herself. She’s only here because Cristalería felt sorry for her. “Is it a little participation trophy?”
Isabelle glared at her. “No. For your information it’s an excellence in alchemy award.”
Nyla clenched her fist. How can the magicless one be on the same level as her. “Wow. I thought awards actually meant something in a place like this. But I guess they’ll just give it everyone now, huh?”
“Well you're getting that one too, so I guess they really will.”
Nyla glared at her. “You know you’re only here because the Headmage pities you, right? I heard all about the little rat hole you lived in and Cristalería brought you here.”
“It was a dorm.” Isabelle corrected. “And the way I see it the person here to be pitied is you.”
That knot in the pit of Nylas stomach tightened. “Excuse me?”
“I haven’t done anything to you,” Isabelle said. “But for some reason you’ve decided you don’t like me. Which is fine, that’s your business. But you sure love butting in where you’re not wanted. I don’t know what your deal is where you feel the need to be rude to people unprompted, but I feel sorry for you, Nyla. I really do.”
Before Nyla could reply, Constance came back down the hall clapping. “At attention! We are about to begin, no talking!”
Nyla turned around and followed the procession of girls into the auditorium for the ceremony.
She really did hate that feeling.

The moment they realized they loved you. (Isekai Au Edition) Part 2
If you want more information on this AU here is the Link!
Sky:
- It started slow and very sweet.
- He took a long time realizing who you were. But he still believed in the others when they started to recognize you.
- When your behind him cheering you on, he feels invincible. Since during his adventure Impa tore into him pretty badly when he was late to save Zelda.
- Your presence is comforting to him. It feels like home despite being on the ground.
___________________________________
Being back in Skyloft was a small blessing for the chain. The tight knit community had already welcomed the travelers with little to no questions about their origins. It was a stroke of luck that they landed in front of the bazaar in the early morning when no one else was up yet. Their first day there was a resting day in attempt to gather information on the black blood monsters and inventory checks.
Sky took his time catching up with everyone. Letting the Headmaster and Sun know about the situation that had the hero hopping around in the timeline. Then he needed to go down to the small settlement on the surface to check on them. Sun did already tell him that things where still safe down there and that he should take a break. But he still would rather check it out himself just in case something did happen it better to be safe than sorry.
Despite being able to jump off from any of the decks in Skyloft. He automatically went towards the plaza near the tower of light. During his adventure it was the quickest way to the opening above Faron Woods. Sky was just turning the bend when he saw his Loftwing was already there on the docks and under its wing was You. You were trying to put a small amount of distance between you and the bird but the creature kept bring you closer to hold.
“(Y/n)!” Sky was baffled at his Loftwings reactions to you. He dashes to your side. “I’m so sorry. He isn’t normally like this.”
“It’s fine.” Your uncontrollable laughter the was full with childlike glee finally reached him. “In fact, I think he recognizes me!” You whispered smiling. The Crimson Loftwing cooed now leaning into his masters touch as Sky softly pet the side of his necks. Sky wondered if what you said was the truth. Since a Loftwing and its rider do share a special connection, it’s fully possible that his also felt and heard you. “Hey Link?” Suddenly your demeanor changed. “Can I ask something?”
Your bashful and embarrassed expression made Sky feel soft inside. “Of course.”
“One of these days can you show me around the sky or the surface?” You shifted awkwardly from him. He actually forgot that you haven’t physically been to his era before. That for the longest time you only saw things from his point of view without the ability to truly explore anything. “You don’t need to- “
“Are you free now?” He quickly cut you off. “I was actually heading down there now to check on the settlement.”
“Really?” Your face seems to brighten but then you remembered something and leaned closer to him whispering again “I don’t have a Loftwing though.”
He gently takes your hand “my Loftwing is strong enough for both of us.” He guided you to his side. You eyed the bird with uncertainty but you let him help you up onto the harness. Sky got on behind you reaching around you to get the reins. “Hold on to me if you get scared.” He teasingly warned and before you could question him. His Loftwing took off nose diving off of the deck.
You let out a small squeak as you latched onto his tunic. Sky almost felt bad that he actually scared you. But once in the air and on a steady path you finally opened your eyes again. “Woah!” The sight was nothing special but it was still just as beautiful. The clouds below them created an endless sea of white. “It’s so pretty.” Pride bubbled up as Sky watch you taken in the beauty of his home. This was just the start of what he wanted to show you as different locations came into his mind. “Hey.” You looking over your shoulder with hope in your eyes. ”Next time can we go to the Lumpy Pumpkin? I remember you singing high praises about their pumpkin soup.”
Sky tried to think of what he wanted to do tomorrow, right now there wasn’t anything that needed his attention. “If we have time tomorrow, I can take you there for lunch or dinner.” Maybe he could take a break from being a hero for a bit.
“Great! It’s a date then.” You sent a wink his way that sent his brain into a haywire before looking back into the endless sky. He was lucky his Loftwing is able to steer himself. As dot’s where finally connecting in Sky’s head. Pure love and affection bubble up as he embraces his new found feelings.
- He will be the one to uno reverse card on you. All love and affection will drown you instead. There was so much he wanted to tell you before to thank you for being by his side and encouraging him.
- Cuddle time will start here because of his need to make sure you know your loved too.
- He would be the one to confess first, but it would probably be played off as friends telling each other that they love each other.
- You’re not dense but overly affectionate. He might just need to spell out how you make him feel on a daily basis. Maybe then you’ll understand what you’re doing to him.
___________________________________
Legend:
- It hit him like a freight train.
- He isn’t mad at you. He is mad at himself. He had made his dues with what the people he had lost. Yet here he is. Already going too far.
- Your ability to make the situation brighter slowly eroded the walls he put up years ago.
- It might be all in his head, but he swears that you always make sure his needs are met even if he is trying to hide them.

“Link!!!” You barreled towards him ignoring the questioning stares the people of Windfall Island. “Link! Link! Link! LOOK!!!” You hold up a pink rabbit stuffed animal that you bought. “It you!”
The veteran in question huffed, “seriously of all things.” He turned on his heels “I’m going back on the ship.” He didn’t know why he was still entertaining your antics at that point.
“Wha- Hey! I was joking!” They were stocking up in Windfall and Legend was not happy to be on a boat nor in the ocean again. He wouldn’t say that he afraid.
Just… cautious…
You on the other hand looked like you were having the time of your life on the ship talking the it’s Captain and crew member’s. Yet most of the time you would stay by his side. The reason was obvious but nether wanted to talk about it.
Which is why you dragged him out to the port island. ‘An easy distraction.’ You told him, ‘I can show you around so we won’t get lost!’ He wasn’t worried about that. Legend trusted you. A fact he will never say out loud. However, he would rather hole up somewhere and escape the world then be here.
A soft hand took his when Legend reached the docks. He already knew who it was since you’ve been following him like a lost puppy all day. “One more place please?” You looked at him expectingly. “Then you can go back.”
“What are you a child? Why can’t you just go alone?” Legend snapped back, “you don’t have to be around me.”
“Legend I like being with you.” You pointed out like it was the most obvious thing in the world. “However.” You let go of his hand. “I also understand if you don’t want to hang out anymore and want to go rest.” There was no fighting back. No offense to his words. Nothing. Just a warm smile that filled him with warmth, that was accompanied by words fueled by unlimited care and understanding which made his heart beat faster. The silence between you two seemed to give you an answer. You turned around. A panicked feeling shot through. Legend was surprised with himself when he almost reached out to you when you walked away.
Instead, he watched you go. In the wake of his own emotions, he realized what had been happening. How he has been acting around you was starting to get familiar. “Not again.” He whispered disappointed in himself.
___________________________________
- Legend is going to be bitter about it. He isn’t going to take it out on you, but his mannerisms are going to be different after this.
- Not quite closed off, but it’s almost like he is mourning another loss.
- You would need to drown him in love and affection before he realizes you like him back. But like Twilight, he is going to be heartbroken if you decide to leave him to go back home.
___________________________________
Wild:
- Its progression was as natural as breathing.
- He just got off of his adventure so he always had you by his side. Just being near you is second nature.
- If anything, he was more than excited to actually have you physically be here alongside him.
- It rare to see ether of you not near each other when traveling together you two are inseparable.
___________________________________
The only upside of being in Wild’s Era is that the champion knew what to expect, it’s chaotic was normal for him and actually brought him a bit of peace. You came with that peace of mind. Having you join the chain to him was almost like you never left his side in the first place. From the moment he woke up after being told his name and what he needed to from Zelda, he was aware of your presence. You were the one to encourage him to explore the ruin kingdom. You were the one to recognize structures that the people in his world didn’t know about. The weird part was that you didn’t know how he was before the calamity, but he didn’t question that fact too much. He was more than happy to have someone treat him as a different person from before.
Now having you physically with him. Wild wanted to bring you to all of your favorite locations that you vocally told him about.
But that had to wait for now, because the downside to Wild’s Hyrule was the amount of things that wanted him dead. Moblins? Bokablins? Those guys are fine to fight they were push overs unless infected with the black blood. Actually, most of Wild’s monsters were like that. Once you get a hang of fighting them and recognize their patterns. They are a breeze.
A common threat that was annoy to deal with however, was the Yiga Clan. Which leads to the situation Wild and the others found themselves getting in while on the road to Hateno. He should of figured that they were going to strike when he got back to his Era. But he honestly didn’t think it would be in this quantity they were out number but thanks to Warriors taking control of the situation where managing. He was trying to make sure everyone was accounted for and was alive when he heard a string of curses coming from his right.
You had been knocked on the ground by a Blade Master. Your sword was near the clan member. Wild felt his world freeze in that moment as he bolted towards your body. With a falcon bow in hand. Wild side jumped. Locked in an ancient arrow and let it go.
The arrow sped towards the Blade Master. Hitting him directly. Turning the Yiga member into a bunch of Sheikah blue ribbons before collapsing into an orb where the arrow hit.
Wild slide towards your body. A pulse he needed to feel a pulse. Placing the tips of his index and middle finger on the base of your thumb and wrist. He pressed lightly to feel the blood pulsing beneath his fingers. A sigh of relief escaped him. Wild was lucky that the battle had come to an end. As the other Yiga members ether retreated in horror of what happened to one of their own or cut down quickly.
Hyrule join him soon after shooing him out of the way gently. Wild didn’t move from your side all that much. He didn’t want to. Just in case you left him too. He doesn’t know a life without you in it. A world like that just doesn’t exist.
Wild knows the name of the cause of his feelings. It’s the same thing that drives him to share his experience with you. He wants to be by your side and to make you happy.
___________________________________
- He is protective but not controlling. If anything, he wants to spar with you more. So, you can get better at fighting.
- You can bet he is going to start making you taste the different foods he had discovered, or sneak out to visit areas in his world more often. He doesn’t want you to miss a thing.
- There is so much he wants to do with you. So much he wants to share. So many things to say. That he just wants to do it all at once so there can be new things you both can discover together.

Delight in Misery (ao3) - part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4, part 5, part 6, part 7, part 8 (interlude)
The Lotus Pier was a free and unrestrained place in comparison with the Cloud Recesses, and there was no similar prohibition on raising pets. This was a good thing, largely because Lan Wangji had recently started to think of his little found family primarily in animal metaphors.
It was, he concluded, because of the way Mo Xuanyu followed Jiang Cheng around like an imprinted duckling, with stars in his eyes and an unfortunate tendency to try to emulate his actions while possessing exactly none of the temperament required to pull any of it off.
Indeed, watching him wheezing his way through a threat to break Jin Ling’s legs was a sight worth seeing, especially with Lan Sizhui patting him on the back and encouraging him when he temporarily got stuck stuttering on the word ‘legs’.
Jiang Cheng, for all his faults and imperfections, could be terrifying when he wished to be, the blood of the battlefields of the Sunshot Campaign forever impressed upon his bones; with Zidian to hand, he could look commanding and fearsome, decisive and harsh, and with his sharp looks and sharper scowl, he cut a fine picture - even if Lan Wangji knew the truth, that behind all that sharpness was the soul of a grumpy marshmallow.
Mo Xuanyu, with his wild thatch-like hair that couldn’t be controlled no matter their joint efforts and even wilder and far more questionable taste in appearance, couldn’t hope to match him, and really ought to stop trying.
Naturally, Jin Ling looked about as convinced about the threats as he ever was when Jiang Cheng said it, meaning of course that he didn’t care one whit, but despite their initial concerns, he took to Mo Xuanyu quite well. Lan Wangji was initially puzzled by it, given their conflicting personalities, but Jiang Cheng insightfully (for once) pointed out that it was most likely that Jin Ling was willing to forgive quite a lot in exchange for having another person dressed in Lanling Jin gold around to make him feel less awkward about it.
The two of them together were two little goldfinches strutting around in a sea of purple – or, perhaps more accurately, two golden roly-poly puppies bounding around, tails wagging, trying to befriend the Jiang sect’s army of sleek haughty purple cats. They were accompanied, of course, by a small, gentle crane with a most un-Lan-like taste for spicy fish with radishes and absolutely no head for water travel.
(They were working with Lan Sizhui on that. He lived in the Jiang sect now; he couldn’t spend his whole life being seasick!)
“What does that make you, then?” Jiang Cheng asked when Lan Wangji – after incessant prodding – mentioned his thoughts on the subject of their growing nest. “Master Rabbit?”
Lan Wangji glared, but didn’t object to the characterization; regardless of his personality, there was good reason to make the association. This was largely because Lan Xichen had recently embarked on a mission to capture the rabbits Lan Wangji had been – not raising, precisely, because pets were forbidden in the Cloud Recesses, but feeding on occasion when he had the time. He had brought them to Lan Wangji’s new “residence” at the Lotus Pier as a housewarming gift.
(Lan Wangji had no intention of moving out of Wei Wuxian’s bedroom, of course, but Jiang Cheng had long ago exercised his authority as sect leader to clear out the rooms just beyond it to create a small additional courtyard for him, in which he could exercise and meditate without being too far from the main quarters of the Jiang sect leader. As a result, the only change involved in his new, public, and above-board decision to reside in the Louts Pier was adding a new entranceway to make it appear as though they lived in separate albeit adjoining houses rather than living together in just one. Of course, it being the Lotus Pier, the new entranceway involved constructing not only a gate but a new bridge…)
“What exactly are we supposed to do with a bunch of rabbits?” Jiang Cheng had demanded at the time, staring down at them - there were rather more than Lan Wangji had remembered there being, but he supposed that was the nature of rabbits.
“I have no idea,” Lan Xichen had replied, smiling broadly. “But Wangji likes them.”
Lan Wangji had pretended that neither of them existed, and also that he was urgently needed elsewhere.
Later, Jiang Cheng had cornered him, demanding an explanation or else the rabbits would be sent down to the kitchens to be repurposed, and Lan Wangji had reluctantly confessed that they were from the burrow first established by the two wild rabbits Wei Wuxian had caught for him all those years ago.
Naturally there was no more talk of repurposing after that, and three sets of rabbit coops – far more than the rabbits Lan Wangji actually possessed required – mysteriously appeared in his small courtyard the next day.
“Wouldn’t want the stupid things to drown,” Jiang Cheng had grumbled when confronted with the evidence of his sentimentality. “If they attacked your garden and tried to burrow down they’d only hit water, and then where would we be? Awash in bunny corpses, that’s where, and that’s just unsanitary. I have a duty as sect leader to preserve the public health, you know.”
Lan Wangji had initially had some difficulty determining what type of animal Jiang Cheng was. He was as prickly as a porcupine, as standoffish as a hedgehog, as fickle as a cat, as graceful and vicious as an angry goose…
Recently, however, Lan Wangji had met a merchant from the south who had been selling a type of bird he called zishuiji, or purple swamphens – the merchant claimed that they were descended from the famous zhanniao, the poisonfeather zhen bird noted for their purple bellies, scarlet beaks, and deadly venom. Although Lan Wangji was moderately certain that the man was exaggerating for the sake of a sale, he had found himself compelled to purchase several sets to house in one of the empty rabbit coops, now moved to be placed in the main courtyard, nominally to be nearer to the waterways but mostly so that they’d be easily accessible to everyone - and, of course, to subtly harass Jiang Cheng.
It turned out that zishuiji could apparently be treated in much the same way as chickens. They were highly adaptable, but thrived best near water; they were generally shy around humans, but vicious in defending their territory, capable of biting and mobbing when provoked; and they preferred to raise their eggs with company –
Truly, he had found the right bird for Jiang Cheng.
(Not to mention the euphonious imagery of a purple hen strutting around with its purple lighting, zishuiji with zidian...truly, a picture meant for the ages. Lan Wangji determined at once to make a painting of it and insist Jiang Cheng hang it on some wall. Maybe even one of the ones in the main hall, where strangers could see.)
“Some of these are getting used for food,” Jiang Cheng insisted with a glare. “Some of the rabbits, too. There are no rules against the killing of livestock here, you hear me?”
Mo Xuanyu fell in love with them immediately – Jiang Cheng’s theory was that he was entranced by their iridescent feathers, while Lan Wangji’s view was that he recognized the innate Jiang Cheng-ness of them – and quickly took charge of their care, although Lan Sizhui and Jin Ling routinely assisted in collecting eggs.
Jiang Cheng reluctantly admitted, after some time, that the purchase had been a good one, if only because it served to settle their little awkward duckling into place, finally allowing Mo Xuanyu some sense of stability, as if having some type of small duty for which he was responsible was all he needed to believe that he wouldn’t be forced back to Lanling or to Mo village, his original place of origin, which he somehow feared even more than the backstabbing snakepit of Koi Tower.
(“You need to stop calling him a duckling,” Jiang Cheng said, quivering with laughter. “Do you know that could also mean…no, I’m not saying it. Anyway, he’s such an impressionable brat. Did you see what he did with that make-up he bought? He really does look a bit...”
From this, Lan Wangji inferred that the nickname was both extremely apt, extremely unfortunate, and had permanently stuck.)
In fact, despite initial concerns, it had been surprisingly comfortable to bring Mo Xuanyu into their lives at the Lotus Pier.
He was grateful and happy to be there, which helped; Lan Sizhui was welcoming, and Jin Ling somewhat reluctantly accepting, each for their own reasons, which helped more.
Best of all, he was at just the right age to be a regular disciple, and the current Jiang sect was especially welcoming to outsiders, having been cobbled together from a wide range of previously rogue cultivators and the small handful of survivors of the previous sect’s massacres. It improved Mo Xuanyu’s mood tremendously to be around boys and girls his own age, doing the same thing as them, without the weight of Lanling Jin’s expectations on his shoulders even if he sometimes wore their colors.
“He’s never going to be the most martially inclined,” Jiang Cheng opined after a small period of observation. “But he might make a decent administrator.”
Lan Wangji glanced at him sidelong in silent question, since Mo Xuanyu had not displayed any especially notable scholastic talents either. He had started cultivating fairly late, although obviously not as late as Jin Guangyao, but he lacked the other man’s genius for organization and management. Moreover, while his studies did admittedly exceeded the low bar set in Lan Wangji’s mind by Nie Huaisang’s miserable performance, that was a very low bar indeed.
(Nie Huaisang wasn’t stupid, he reminded himself once again. He was in fact extremely clever. And yet, even knowing what he knew, it was so easy to forget…)
“He’s kind and thoughtful of the well-being of others,” Jiang Cheng said, averting his gaze and pretending his cheeks weren’t tinting red. “Calligraphy and math, people skills, that can all be learned, but at least he has the important part down…I told you to stop doing that.”
Lan Wangji ignored him and continued to smile.
“Freak,” Jiang Cheng muttered, then shook his head. “I can’t believe anyone actually listens to you. Least of all me!”
Lan Wangji rolled his eyes. That part was Jiang Cheng’s own fault – he’d been using Lan Wangji as a sounding board more or less from the beginning, and started making him do some of his paperwork as soon as he’d been regularly awake for more than a shichen at a time under the barely plausible claim that it was good for him to exercise his hands. Now that Lan Wangji was officially out of seclusion, Jiang Cheng had promptly shoveled even more work at him – despite the fact that they were supposedly at each other’s throats.
The Jiang disciples that had not been in the loop – most of them, to Lan Wangji’s mild surprise – adjusted quickly, especially after they noticed the long-suffering expressions on the faces of Jiang Cheng’s immediate deputies. They had remained wary for a while, possibly expecting Lan Wangji to seek to implement the Lan sect rules at any moment, but after a time he had managed to win their confidence through his efficient administration and respect for their customs.
He did…rather a lot, actually. He reviewed the sect’s accounts along with Jiang Cheng, managed certain negotiations, oversaw the continuing reconstruction efforts, reviewed submitted proposals –
All things that the Lan sect did as well, but which had never come to him before. Lan Wangji suspected that in many cases, they did not even come to his brother or his uncle, who were nominally in charge of such things; the Lan sect disdained such worldly affairs, while the Jiang sect embraced them.
Although while he was on the subject of being above worldly affairs, it occured to him that he had not had an opportunity to take Bichen out recently, and it would be good to do so. He would need to come up with some excuse to insist on Jiang Cheng accompanying him for a night hunt sometime soon, some reason that would stand up to scrutiny from the outside.
As for convincing Jiang Cheng himself, however, that would be no problem.
“We are going night-hunting soon,” he informed Jiang Cheng, who looked appalled by the very thought.
“You’re joking, right?” he demanded. “Do you know how much work we have to do? The yearly update with the dyer’s guild is –”
“Not for another two months, and preparation typically takes only two weeks.”
“Reconstruction –”
“Does not require constant supervision at this stage.”
“The – there’s training –”
Lan Wangji attempted to convey his feelings on the validity of that excuse entirely through his facial expression, and it must have worked because Jiang Cheng crumbled at once, grumbling to himself.
“Who’ll we leave the children with?” he tried. “Especially with Xuanyu being so new – oh, all right. It’s weak and I know it, you don’t have to give me that judgmental look of yours.”
“If Jiang Wanyin believes that his skills have gotten so rusty that he would be unable to keep up…”
“I’m going to break your legs,” Jiang Cheng hissed at him. “I’m going to – to – oh, wait, actually, there is a reason we can’t go just yet. We’re expecting honored guests!”
Lan Wangji arched his eyebrows.
“You wouldn’t have seen the report yet, it’s still on our desk,” Jiang Cheng said. “You know of the Baixue Temple, right?”
Lan Wangji looked askance, indicating that he had of course heard of the temple, a renowned place of learning, but that he presumed that that was not what Jiang Cheng meant and also that perhaps Jiang Cheng would like to get to the point at some time before their deaths from old age.
“Fuck you too,” Jiang Cheng said conversationally, having learned the nuances of Lan Wangji’s expressions by now. “It was attacked recently, and rumor has it that it was Xue Yang that did it. Yes, the same Xue Yang who did the Chang clan massacre, the one the Jin sect was protecting before they washed their hands of him.”
Lan Wangji frowned.
“They made it through with relatively minimal casualties,” Jiang Cheng assured him. “Out of luck, mostly – when Xue Yang disappeared before his trial, the Nie sect made sure word got out everywhere, and Lianfeng-zun, who might’ve quashed it, even helped spread them, instead. From what I understand, Xiao Xingchen and Song Zichen returned to Baixue Temple to make sure it wouldn’t be attacked over their part in Xue Yang’s initial arrest, as it later turned out to be - truly, evil is mundane and predictable. They led the defensive efforts and saved many lives.”
Xiao Xingchen and Song Zichen –
Lan Wangji had heard Jiang Cheng speak of them before, of course. Rogue cultivators of considerable fame, who had refused all offers to join any of the sects, major or minor, but instead professed a desire to start a cultivation school of the old-fashioned sort, valuing affinity and merit over blood relation.
Not that that was what had caught the attention of Lan Wangj, or of Jiang Cheng for that matter.
Rather, it was said that Xiao Xingchen was a disciple of Baoshan Sanren, the famous immortal that lived secluded on the mountain. That made him Wei Wuxian’s martial uncle, and both of them were shamelessly interested in all things relating even tangentially to Wei Wuxian, however indirectly.
Jiang Cheng had sent several invitations for a visit back when the Chang clan disaster had happened. None had been accepted, which was probably all for the best – he had had to stop inviting them on account of how they’d angered the Jin sect over the matter.
(It had caused Jiang Cheng no end of nightmares, the feeling of complicity in a massacre just like the one that had destroyed his own sect sending him into a spiral of self-hatred, questioning his own morality and righteousness, wondering if his ancestors were judging him and finding him wanting, wondering if Wei Wuxian was –
It had not been a good time, a thankfully temporary reversion back to the bad days closer to the start. But Jiang Cheng was better now.)
“Why accept an invitation now?” Lan Wangji asked.
“They’re planning on hunting him down, I think, and having learned a little bit from last time, they want to get as many allies on board as possible in advance,” Jiang Cheng said, and shook his head at the depressing need to account for worldly politics when seeking to live a righteous life. A lesson hard-learned, for both of them. “They wrote to me first, this time. In return, I plan to indicate that they are welcome to come to the Lotus Pier to try to convince me – we’ll agree to help them, of course, but it’ll be nice to share a meal with them. Maybe some stories.”
“Mm,” Lan Wangji said. “And entertainment, of course.”
Jiang Cheng looked at him.
“We should take them night-hunting,” Lan Wangji elaborated, and Jiang Cheng scowled at him.
“There are oxen less stubborn than you! Donkeys! Geese!”
Lan Wangji was not a goose. A crane, perhaps, like Lan Sizhui – gentle and graceful and well-educated, with a sharp beak that most people overlooked.
He suspected Jiang Cheng would argue instead for the goose.
“I will write to my brother,” he said, opting to change the subject. “Xue Yang is a sensitive subject for his sworn brothers, as you know. It would be best to prepare him should they resume their fight with each other.”
“Oh, that’s just what we need,” Jiang Cheng grumbled. “Lianfeng-zun and Chifeng-zun at each other’s throats again…did I tell you about the series of small but extremely irritating disasters that happened that time I was at Koi Tower? The room flooding, the too-thick incense, the – the thing with the cat –”
“I also recall you coming back from a night-hunt with Chifeng-zun with an expression suggesting that someone had put the fear of death into you, yes,” Lan Wangji said.
“It’s Chifeng-zun. Don’t think I haven’t noticed you avoiding any circumstances where he could have the same talk with you!”
Lan Wangji did not deny it. As he was not a sect leader, he could avoid such things with much greater ease than poor Jiang Cheng – who was glaring again.
“You should try harder to get along with him,” he remarked, and Jiang Cheng’s eyes narrowed even further. “You have many things in common –”
“Lan Wangji. You are, as A-Yuan’s father, permitted to set up as many playdates for him as you’d like. You are not permitted to do the same for me.”
Lan Wangji nodded, indicating that would give that all the consideration it deserved, namely none.
Jiang Cheng made a sound not unlike the whistling of a boiling pot.
Lan Wangji decided that a triumphant but timely retreat was appropriate.

Hajime iwaizumi x reader
Warning: cancer, y/n death
Synopsis: when you get diagnosed with cancer, you wanted to spend what little time you had left completing your bucket list with iwaizumi.
a/n: blame @tendousfingerbandagess for this idea. I was just listening to conan gray's new song 'astronomy' then prompted this idea. I want to share my pain with you all hehehe! Let's get started.
"we found that you have acute lymphocytic leukemia…" were the first and only words you heard from the doctor before blood suddenly rushed to your ears.
You were rushed to the hospital by your boyfriend, Iwaizumi, when your very high fever kept coming back every few hours. Hajime sat next to you as the doctor broke the news to you, trying to comfort you by running his thumb over your clenched knuckle. He hoped to ease you into the harsh reality that was brought upon you but you couldn't feel anything then. All you felt was the piercing cold. You didn't know if it was a symptom of your new diagnosis or because of the news itself.
"w-well, can you still treat it?" Iwaizumi asked for you, squeezing your hand to attempt and bring you back into this conversation.
"we can but it'll be painful-"
"what if I don't want to be treated?" you suddenly chimed in. that caused Hajime to turn to you with a shocked expression. No. You have to get treated. He can't lose you.
"w-what are you saying, (y/n)? Y-you can't be serious." Iwaizumi let out a humorless chuckle, praying that you would laugh along and reassure him that you were kidding. But you didn't do that. You sat straight in the uncomfortable chair, waiting for the doctor's response.
"Well, though it is not ideal, we can delay putting you on the transplant list but that will lessen your chances to survive. Chemo therapy is also on the table." the doctor replied professionally, his clipboard opened on your file to take note of your wishes.
"I want to delay both as of now. I-I just need time to think…" your voice cracked. You wanted to be strong. To show your boyfriend that you could handle it and that you'll be okay. But from the looks of your face, how you trembled beside him, iwaizumi knew that it was the exact opposite of what you were trying to portray. The doctor nodded his head before he left you alone with a confused and distraught Iwa.
"why?" Iwa's voice was barely above whisper as his glassy eyes looked into yours in sorrow. He wanted you to live. He already planned his future with you. How you would have two kids running around the small house you two would purchase to accommodate your family. But now, he wasn't so sure if that same dream of his will come to life. The only thing he could do now was pray that you'll survive and live through this.
"I want to live my life, haj," you replied. You shot him a sad grin before you took a deep breath and spoke once more. "I want to live my life to the fullest before I grow weak and have to sit in a hospital room and wait impatiently for the small chance that I'll find a donor or see any big progresses." you let out a watery laugh. Damn, this was harder than it looks. "I want to live my last stronger moments with you." tears ran down your cheeks at the end of your little speech. You looked back to see iwaizumi's tears flowing down just like yours did.
Iwaizumi brought your hand up to his quivering lips and placed a soft kiss on them. "then I'll help you. I'll help you live your life to the fullest." he placed another kiss on your knuckle, a sign of a promise he was willing to do anything to keep.
"okay, I'm done!" you called Iwa. You placed your pen down and waited for him to pop out from your shared bedroom.
Iwaizumi smiled and sat next to you on the couch, reaching a hand out to take the slip of paper from you. You gave it to him willingly. "have a road trip around Japan, adopt a puppy, try delicacies in each city we visit, bungee jumping, and star gazing. Wow, it looks like we have a lot of things to do~" he said, wrapping his arm around you and bringing you closer as his eyes skimmed through the list once more.
You nodded your head in agreement. Iwaizumi explained to his team that he wouldn't be there as often because of your diagnosis. They all agreed that your health came first and that they'll be fine hearing his critiques on their forms and diet from home. Just like that, he already sacrificed so much for your sake. He now asked you to write down a small little bucket list you could do together before you decide to settle down and get better. He promised to help you live your life to the fullest after all.
"When do you think is the best time to start working on this?" he asked, waving the list in his hand. You shrugged. You didn't want to rush him into finishing this and risk burning your boyfriend out. This was his time to relax and have fun beside you. "We should get packing then!" he took both of your hands and pulled you up from your seat, causing a giggle to bubble up from your throat. You tilted your head when his words sank into your brain. Pack? Right now?
"You want me to pack? Right now?" you asked skeptically. Iwa chuckled before leaning in and pressing a quick kiss on your soft lips.
"because we're going on that road-trip tomorrow, you idiot." Hajime watched your eyes lit up with glee before you skipped into your bedroom and packed your shared luggage.
Even in the devastating predicament you were in, you didn't stop being so positive and happy. That was one of the things he loved about you.
"We drive through the woods
Rich neighborhoods to watch
We joked as we looked
That they were too good for us
Cause socially speaking we were the same
With runaway fathers and mothers who drank
A tale old as time
Young love don't last for life"
You sat in the passenger seat of Hajime's car, a blanket keeping you comfortable while Conan Gray's astronomy blaring through the speakers. Iwaizumi couldn't help but bop his head behind the wheel while you sang along.
"damn, your voice sounds amazing." he complimented, causing your cheeks to feel hot. Iwaizumi chuckled before he turned and parked in the wide parking lot of the animal shelter.
"wait! Are we getting the puppy now?!" you squealed excitedly. Iwaizumi clicked his seatbelt off and hummed in confirmation. You never got out of the car that quickly before.
Fortunately, this was only the beginning.
For the next few days, you traveled around Japan with your new puppy, iwaizumi named (y/n) Jr., went bungee jumping together, and tried delicacies in each town. you had the time of your life.
But fun had to end.
On the last day of your third week, you started to feel waves on waves of fatigue wash over you. You just wanted to rest with Iwaizumi but you felt like giving in was only admitting that you can't handle it anymore.
So you forced yourself to get up.
It was hard to hide things from iwaizumi. He was always perceptive, especially now. He was there to help you live.
He needed you to live. Because he knew that he wasn't anyone without you.
"you okay? We can rest today if you want." he asked worriedly, walking over and assisting you to a seat. He went into the kitchen to fetch you a glass of water.
"no, I'm fine." you replied, trying to reduce your shaking as you take the glass and chugged the water. You could only hope that your headache will subside soon. "do you have anything planned for today?" you asked, feigning cheerfulness. Iwaizumi glanced back at you worriedly before he sighed, flashing you a small smile.
"well, we have stargazing on your list so I was planning to do just that." Iwa sat next to you and stretched his arm over your shoulder. You giggled before you closed your eyes and nuzzled into him, wishing to store the last bit of your energy that you felt was seeping out at a rapid pace.
Iwaizumi could hope that it wasn't what he suspected. That you were just having an off-day. That you were okay, just like the last few weeks.
But that was all he could do. All he could do was hope.
The night air was colder than usual.
You pulled your thick cardigan closer to your chest and squeezed iwa's hand, hoping that his warmth would seep into you. Hajime looked back at you worriedly. "you okay? Dammit, we should've stayed home-"
"i'm fine, haji, it's just colder than usual." you lied, nudging him, telling him to keep walking.
You felt like you used up all of your energy climbing up the small hill where a picnic blanket was set-up on the very top, a small stereo playing Astronomy softly. You couldn't help but gasp in surprise. Maybe that wasn't a good idea, the lack of air in your lungs already making you dizzy. The gasp hid the shallowness of your breath from your already anxious boyfriend who helped you get settled on the blanket under the stars.
"just... Sit tight." iwaizumi took a deep breath before he stood in front of you, made a fist and pretended he was holding a mic as he sang along to Conan's soft voice.
"We've traveled the seas
We've ridden the stars
We've seen everything
From Saturn to Mars
As much as it seems
Like you own my heart
It's astronomy
We're two worlds apart"
He took your hand and pulled you up on your shaking feet. he got down on one knee then took out a velvet box. Your hands flew to your mouth. This can't be happening.
"(y/n), it might look like we don't have time but i know you can fight back and win. I can wait until then. So (y/n) (l/n), will you marry me?" he muttered to keep his voice from cracking. Your smile reached from ear to ear, nodding your head rapidly at a loss of words. Iwaizumi slipped the ring onto your finger and was about to pull you close into a hug when the unthinkable happened.
Your feet buckled under you, unable to support your weight anymore. Your breath was ragged and loud. You tried to suck in air to no avail. What was going on?
Your ears ring while black dots start to spread through your vision. The last thing you remembered was your now fiance's blurry figure in front of you, desperately trying to bring you back to him.
Cold. The cold just seeps into you, suffocates you until-
You woke up to the blinding lights of the hospital. Your tired eyes moved to observe the room. You felt someone squeezed your hand. You turned to see a sleepy iwaizumi slouched in one of those uncomfortable hospital chairs, his hand gripping yours tightly. Hajime jolted awake the second you squeezed his hand back.
"(y/n)!" he exclaimed in relief, bringing his head down and kissing the ring on your finger repeatedly. Little droplets littered your hand. Iwaizumi was crying. "i-i thought i lost you... You wouldn't wake up for days a-and-" he sobbed. You pulled him into your chest, letting him nuzzle into your weak figure.
That small reassurance that you still had that small fight left in you helped iwaizumi sleep that night.
It was only the beginning of hell for you.
For the next few weeks, iwaizumi couldn't do anything but watch as your once strong figure rapidly grew weaker by the day. He had no idea had to stop it.
He needed a miracle.
He picked up his phone, dialed a certain number and waited for them to answer. If iwaizumi needed a miracle, this was the guy to call.
Another week went by, you were looking out your window in boredom when your hospital room door opened. thinking it was another nurse, you used all your strength to crane your neck to look at the person who entered. Your eyes lit up when you saw Iwaizumi enter with the Argentina setter, Oikawa.
"tooru!" you cheerfully yelled. Oikawa immediately rushed toward you. The man was about to pounce on you but iwa came to the rescue just in time and pulled the setter away from your bed.
"what are you doing here?" you asked, wiping away the stray happy tears that accumulated in the corners of your eyes.
"simple!" oikawa said as he skipped back to the door and opened it to reveal matsukawa and hanamaki with an officiant. "i decided to provide a little bit of a miracle." You turned to iwaizumi who glowed pink beside you. Was this really happening?
Your little "ceremony" flew by too quickly for your liking. You wished you could just cherish this moment forever. How all of the former members of the volleyball team came in and gave their congratulations and told little anecdotes they remember about the early stages of your relationship, like the time hajime almost beaten up oikawa for flirting with you in high school or how iwaizumi accidentally hit you with his spike when he was staring a second too long.
The noise slowly died down to the beeps of your heart monitor connected to you. Iwaizumi sat beside you and kissed your hand once more. "we're officially married now." he whispered, not wanting to break the soft ambience of the room.
"yeah..." you leaned back weakly in your bed. A wave of fatigue suddenly hit you. Maybe it was because of the eventful day you've had.
"You gotta live through this if you want to enjoy our honeymoon." he joked, causing you to let you a soft giggle.
"i love you, haj."
"i love you too, baby..."
"We have a code blue!"
Iwaizumi shot out of his seat to be met by a slew of nurses bursting into your room. His eyes snapped toward your limp figure. No. Nonono. This cannot be happening. You were okay. You were laughing along with everyone. You were joking around. You promised to live, to be strong.
Why? Why did you let go now?
"sir, Please step outside of the room." a nurse said to him, hauling the trainer out the door and into the hallway. Iwaizumi dropped into one of the empty seats outside, burying his head in his hands. He prayed to every god he could think of, to spare your life.
But unfortunately, his prayers weren't answered.
When the doctor came out of your room with a somber look on his face. He already knew what happened. His tears silently flowed down his cheeks as his brain blocked out the doctor's voice, ringing growing louder and louder.
There was only one festering thought in his mind now and it was growing bigger the longer he stayed in that hallway. It kept nipping at him when he went back into the room to see your now lifeless body.
You were gone and he will never see you wake up again.
It all moved like a blur to hajime. Your family was as equally as distraught as he was. They offered their support to which Iwaizumi refused to take. At night he would imagine that you would come bursting into the room and cuddle with you and every time, he would feel tears prick his eyes when he would remember that it didn’t work like that.
The funeral wasn’t any better. Iwaizumi would acknowledge the typical condolence message here and there. He went out of his way to make his eulogy speech a bit more personal for your grieving family members and friends. He couldn’t stop his sobs when he watched as your casket got lowered into your final resting place. The pain felt unbearable.
He stood in front of your new and clean tombstone, tears pricking the corners of his eyes as he held (y/n) jr. In his other hand. He let out a shaky smile, the smile he usually reserved for you. He was going to miss you.
"don't worry love, we'll meet again." he whispered hoping you would hear him one last time. It was going to be hard to move on but he’s going to do everything in his power to pull himself back up and come to terms with reality and maybe to keep your memory alive.
And that's all! This was a real whirlwind and I didn't really anticipate it being this long! Hope you guys enjoyed this! Thanks for @tetsunormous for getting mad at me for spamming and beta reading! Requests are open so please don't be shy to leave anything in my inbox! Love you guys 💖💕❤️

Anime Matchup 💘
I would prefer it if the character was from part 5. In a relationship, I'm am open-minded person, totally would give everything that I am and that I have, very loyal and even if my face can be a bit emotionless since I have difficulty to show how I feel and bottle it sometimes, through actions, I express how much I show love. I am also considerate and appreciate little stuff as long as it's out of love. I'm a bit pampered and treated like a princess, even if I feel embarrassed and would prefer to treat me like a normal person. I easily get heart broken when someone makes a promise and/or a vow then breaks it on the spot. I am also as affectionate and lovable as puppy sees its owner and appreciate gifts, no matter how small they are as long it's out of love. I also love hugging and cuddling. Lastly, when it comes for a long-term relationship, especially when I know the guy for so long, I was and have been hoping that he could be my first relationship and soon to be married to only him, especially if he has plans to have a family and have kids. As for dates, I would like somewhere private, breath-taking, the atmosphere gives out the "love is in the air" vibe. You could say... In touch with nature like... On a seaside or beach or by the sea or private swimming date (as long as there are no natural disasters) and as long as the date's location looks decent, I'm fine with it. I don't mind dating at home since no one is there to judge what we suppose to do and/or whatever we do. I don't really mind how expensive the date is and since I am a bit of a conservative woman, I (kind of) expect that a man has to make the first move, so that means he will spend money on dates. I wouldn't mind spending either for him, as long as I won't be the frequent one to bring out money. Oh, and, I am an Aquarius. My element is air.
@youraquarianbratz
I had a couple characters in mind while reading this. It took me a bit to figure it out but I ultimately decided on Bruno Bucciarati! I hope you like your matchup as much as I enjoyed writing it.
Bruno Bucciarati
You’re the type to have qualities Bruno would really admire! He would pair well with you in a relationship since he would have a good understanding of you. Not to mention he’s a romantic like you. I find this dynamic really sweet.
He doesn’t mind your emotionless face since he’s used to it from being around mafioso. He’s also very observant so he knows how you feel. It’s your personality he’s attracted to of course!
You expressing yourself is all you need to do for him to understand your feelings. He’ll adore your loyalty and open mindedness as well as giving everything you are. He’ll see that as you expressing how much you care and desire the relationship. He’ll find it especially admirable since he thinks it’s mature you’re taking the relationship seriously. People in their early to mid twenties don’t always take relationships seriously and I’m sure Bruno is very familiar with this.
Since Bruno has such a good understanding of you I feel as though he’ll know you’re bottling up emotions. He’s very good at noticing when a person lies so when he asks you he’ll be sure to get it out of you. He’s a comforting and understanding lover so he’ll do his best to help you through it. Which would be really good for you in the long run. He wants you to express yourself comfortably around him. You’re his amore.
You being able to love the smaller things given from him will be an admirable trait. He’ll also find your embarrassment for getting pampered and treated like a princess cute since you want to be treated normally. You can expect him to do both for you. He’ll tease you a bit by calling you principessa so he can see you blush.
Bruno will have a soft spot for you when he figures out you get heart broken when someone makes a promise and/or a vow then breaks it on the spot. It will remind him of Narancia in a way. Which he likes to see in you because it will build more of his trust in you. Not that he would compare you two. He will vow to himself to never make you feel that way. Thankfully he never breaks this promise to himself.
Your affection will make Bruno weak to his knee’s. He absolutely becomes enamored by such affection you display! He’ll pull you for cuddles since he’ll become reliant on your touch now that you spoiled him with such affection.
Bruno is capo so I can see him giving you gifts. He’ll know you appreciate small gifts but will spoil you regardless. Since he’s wealthy and a gentleman you won’t have to worry about him spending money on dates since he most certainly will. Since he’s confident I can see him making a first move as well. He’ll have you meet him at a café where he’ll confess and ask you on a date.
Bruno also has a desire for a family/marriage in the future but it will take time for him to reach that point with you. No worries since he’s loyal and taking the relationship seriously as equally as you are.
Bruno is quite romantic and he too loves the beach as well as nature. He grew up around the beach so he’s all on board for it. You two are sure to share the same taste in dates and have an amazing time because of this. He doesn’t mind private dates since he’ll find it a bit more romantic. Upon leaving your small village and getting a job in Dorne working for the two princes of Sunspear, you had no idea how much you’d miss one very small yet very pivotal part of your life. The rain. However, being the dog trainer for Prince Oberyn might beat the rain. Might.
A/N: Have I watched Game of Thrones? Nope! But I’ve started reading the books and read a bit of book 3 with Oberyn, so that’s what this is based off of. Oops.
Of all the things you missed about home, the rain was what you missed most. Dorne was a fine kingdom with ample sun and the intoxicating smell of salt in the air. But rain was scarce this far south in Sunspear, and you longed for a day where the skies opened and wept, showering the earth.
But the rain was something you could not have, so you settled for a life many would envy. A position in the Dornish palace, dressed in fine clothes rather than your worn out linens. You dearly missed your old home, with the smell of wet dirt and the muddy ground beneath your bare feet, but when your parents had passed, you needed to leave, finding work and income to keep yourself alive.
And you’d found it. You were a servant for the Martell family, although you rarely saw your masters. Doran was always busy, and his younger brother was typically nowhere to be found when he was needed. You’d never met Elia, but the stories were prominent, even to your people. Anyone south of King’s Landing knew all too well the story of Elia Martell.
The Martells treated their servants well. When you’d arrived, they’d put you to work immediately in the kitchens, scrubbing copper kitchenware until your hands were red. The woman who oversaw your work was impressed. Apparently most ended their days with bloodied fingertips. You’d told her you worked with animals day in and day out where you’d come from, and your hands were well prepared for harsh conditions. However, despite the grind, you wore soft clothes. A linen shirt you’d refused to give up, brown pants, and a deep yellow robe you often never wore. You were built for the cold, and Dorne was hot as an oven. A robe would only serve to boil you alive.
You sighed, scrubbing a large cooking pot and dunking it under the water again. Your face was finally legible in the surface, warped and coppery, but legible nonetheless. You hung it to dry alongside the other pots you’d cleaned, turning back yet again to the pile of dirty dishes. You were elbow deep in soapy water when someone exclaimed, “My Prince! I did not see you there!”
“It’s fine my dear,” a honeyed voice said, thick with a Dornish accent. “I did not mean to scare you.”
Hanging another pot, you finally turned to see your visitor.
Prince Oberyn Martell stood by the fire, the flames dancing in his onyx eyes. He smiled at you, and you felt yourself flush. “And this must be the one who keeps my dogs. I’d recognize those hands anywhere.”
You nodded. Once she’d learned you worked dogs in your past, your overseer assigned you to keep the prince’s dogs when you weren’t busy. He had five, all of whom were slender and fast and well trained thanks to you. All the dogs sat by your feet during meals solely because you fed them scraps of your food, and apparently the prince had taken notice. “Yes, I am. Is there a problem with their training?”
Oberyn chuckled. “Quite the contrary, in fact. The girls are swift as ever, and have no hesitation while hunting. Tell me, how did you train them to run through rivers?”
“Food.” It was a true answer. You’d taken the dogs to a shallow pond and baited them across the water, working your way up until you were baiting them across the deepest river you could find. Compared to training dogs in pelting rain, which you had done before, training the dogs to swim fearlessly had been simple.
“Ah,” Oberyn said with a smile. “Food, of course. I suppose this means you’re also the reason Nyx and Artemis are looking a bit rounder than usual?”
You raised an eyebrow. “Your dogs are all in perfect health,” you said sternly. “And if two of your ladies are looking too well fed, then I should not be confronted, because I had nothing to do with it.” It was a blatant lie, and you both knew it.
Oberyn put his hands up. “I was merely making an observation,” he said lightly. “I’ll be leaving you to your washing up.”
You did as he left you to do, washing each dish until it shone and then heading to the doghouse. It was big as your old house back home, and all five dogs rushed to the door as you opened it.
“Hello girls!” You said eagerly, kneeling down so they could all nip at your ears and fingers. “How are we today?”
The dogs all dispersed after that. It was late and there was a warm fire, so three of the dogs curled up to sleep. Nyx and Athena stayed awake, wrestling for a toy before Athena grew bored and trotted off to sleep with her sisters. So Nyx found the next best thing to play with. You.
You wrestled Nyx for the toy, rolling around on the ground and laughing as she growled at you. You growled right back, shaking the toy and coaxing Nyx to drop it. She did, and you tossed it across the room for her to chase after. Nyx was the leader of the pack, the biggest and the oldest. Her muzzle was streaked with grey, but her black and white coat still shone with youth and her eyes sparkled when she was playing. She would always be a puppy at heart.
She returned the toy to you, and you took it. Nyx snapped her jaws at you in an attempt to take the toy, but you pulled it away quickly. “Absolutely not!” You said firmly. “We don’t snatch.” You made Nyx sit, her eyes trained on her toy the entire time. When you finally threw it again, she caught it and trotted right past you with it, dropping it obediently at the feet of her master.
You stood quickly, nearly tripping over yourself as you did so. You knew you looked a mess. Covered from head to foot in dog fur and saliva, your sleeves were still damp from washing dishes and your feet were bare, as they always were. Your hair, which you’d grown long upon arriving in Dorne, was a mess of tangles. Your morning’s braid was long gone.
But the prince didn’t seem to mind. Instead, he scratched Nyx behind the ears and tossed her toy, sending her joyously chasing after it. “I figured I’d find you here,” he said. “The guards said you liked to put the dogs to bed every night.”
You nodded, relaxing a bit as Oberyn sat on a bench and gestured you to his side. Nyx followed you, sitting practically on your feet as you sat. You absently scratched under her ornate collar, hearing her foot thump the ground as you found the sweat spot to scratch. Oberyn smiled as Nyx squirmed under your hands. “You work the girls well.”
“It was my job back home,” you admitted. “I worked the hunting dogs. They were stockier and slower than yours, but could take down anything they wanted. Training them was a task, especially during the rainy season.”
Oberyn nodded slowly. “My girls are bred for speed,” he said. “Their mother was a gift given to my sister, and she bore me my puppies.”
You tried to imagine Oberyn cradling a tiny puppy. His hands were bigger than yours, and a puppy would probably fit in his palm. “Is the mother still alive?”
“Died of age years ago,” Oberyn said. “Right after bearing Persephone’s litter.”
The beautiful dark red dog looked up when Oberyn said her name, but went back to sleep shortly after.
“And what happened to the other puppies?”
“I got pick of the litter,” Oberyn said, smoothing a hand over Nyx’s head. “And the other puppies were given to knights or to houses who’ve sworn loyalty.”
You nodded. “These five were incredibly lucky.”
Oberyn smiled. “Two of them were the youngest born, and one was a runt.”
Both of your gazes went to the dogs curled around the fire. “Was it Artemis?” The blue dog had always been smaller than her sisters, but she had never been any less impressive.
“No.” Oberyn stood, sitting cross legged beside the fire and looking warmly at his dogs. “Athena was the youngest born in her litter, but wasn’t a runt by any means. Nyx was my first dog, the biggest in her litter of course. Persephone was a middle born, and I chose her for her fighter’s spirit. Artemis, bless her, was second youngest in her litter but she was an average size. No, it was Hestia who was a runt. She was so small, we all feared she’d die in the night. I fed her myself, with a rag soaked in milk, for months.”
You nodded, sitting on the other side of the fire and stroking Hestia’s silky ears. She was the best suited for hunting, with her dark brindle pattern and keen blue eyes. “She’s a magnificent dog.”
“She is.”
For the better part of the night, you and Oberyn sat in silence around the fire until it was nothing more than embers. All the dogs were long asleep, and the only reason you didn’t join them was because the room was stiflingly hot. Oberyn looked at peace in the heat, and actually seemed surprised when you got up to sit next to the cracked window. “Are you warm?”
“I’m boiling,” you said. “Dorne is a beautiful place, but must it be so damned hot?”
“Oh? And where do you come from that would justify Dorne being hot as the ovens you work in front of?” Oberyn asked, tipping his head ever so slightly.
You tucked your feet up under your body, leaning against the windowsill and looking out across the Sea of Dorne. “I come from a place where no man rules. My people have been there for generations and will remain there for generations. The land is firm beneath our feet, it’s why we all go barefoot. We have three seasons. The winters, the summers, and the rain. Each turn, between the winters and the summers, it rains. It rains a lot. No one is ever deterred by the rain, as it’s warm, so unlike the freezing rain in the mountains. We were barely fifty houses strong when I left, but our land stretches as far as the eye can see. Flat expanses of green, and in the summers the fields bloom with every kind of flower imaginable. It is a beautiful sight, and if you travel far enough east, you can see the shadows of the Dornish Mountains.” As you spoke, you grew only more homesick, wishing you could plant your feet in the mud and breathe, just breathe in the open air. Dorne’s air smelled of ocean and fish, and you craved the wetness of the petrichor smell you’d grown up with.
Oberyn joined you by the window, looking out at the glowing moon hung high in the sky. “What would you give to return?”
“Everything.”
It was an answer that seemed to stun the youngest Martell sibling. He blinked, still gazing at the moon. “Of course,” he said softly. “Of course.”
The next day, you spent all morning in the great hall, feeding the dogs under the table and reading a book you’d bought in town. Doran and Oberyn sat at the head of the hall together, arguing, but you couldn’t hear them, nor did you care to. You merely flipped a page in your book and fed Hestia another scrap of bacon.
Halfway through your day, you were interrupted in your washing of linens by the lake. Oberyn rode up to you, two horses and all his dogs by his side. “Come.”
You stood, dusting off your pants. “Where to?” You asked. “I doubt I’ll be much use on a hunting trip.”
Oberyn handed you the reins of a horse you’d trained early in your days of working in Dorne. “I’m taking you home.”
You went eagerly after that. You may have been wary, but Oberyn was sincere enough that you trusted him. The dogs followed you, ever the obedient hunters you had trained, as you and him rode hard northward, stopping to make camp as the sun began to dip below the horizon.
“Why are you joining me?” You asked once you’d made camp. “You could’ve sent me on my way, alone.”
Oberyn considered your words, turning meat over the fire. “You fascinate me,” he finally admitted. “You want for nothing in Dorne, and yet you are more homesick than anyone I’ve ever met. You talk about your home as if there is no better place to be. I want to see if you’re right.”
You grinned. “You’ll need firmer clothes than that,” you said, gesturing to Oberyn’s ornate robe. “It’s nearly rain season. Anything that isn’t made to stand up to the water will be ruined.”
Oberyn ran the fabric through his fingers, nodding. “What should I wear?”
“There’s a town not far from my home,” you said. “We’ll find you some suitable clothes there.”
The town in question was a three day ride away. While you rode, you and Oberyn got to know each other. He talked happily about his daughters, never favoring one over the other and seeming proud to have bore them all. In return, you told him about your parents, despite both of them being deceased. He was a good listener, hardly ever interrupting. As the weather grew colder and a wet chill filled the air, you felt yourself getting more comfortable, more at home.
The town finally loomed in the distance after three days on horseback, only stopping to rest the dogs or the horses. You were familiar with everyone, happily chatting to the townsfolk while you browsed thick clothes for Oberyn. He kept the hood of a roughly made cloak over his head, concealing his identity as he watched you make decisions. Finally, you walked away with a sturdy linen shirt that matched yours, reinforced brown pants, and a thick robe that mimicked the Dornish style while also remaining functional. It didn’t fall to Oberyn’s ankles as his vibrant yellow one did, the new faded deep green one stopping just above his knee. He grumbled about the color, but you hushed him as you donned a similar coat in faded burgundy.
As you continued east, the threat of rain grew stronger. You could smell it now, the rain heavy clouds a swirl of deep blue grey on the sky. Artemis whined when a distant rumble of thunder sounded, but you hushed her gently and nudged the horse forward. “We’re not far off. We’ll beat the rain.”
You were right. The village came into view before the rain started, and you quickly ushered the five dogs and one Dornish Prince into your family’s home as warm summer rain began to fall.
Oberyn stared at the ceiling in wonder as the rain began to pound. “Will it hold?”
“It’s held for three generations,” you said, putting logs into a fireplace and looking for your flint. “It’ll continue to hold, that I can swear.”
Once you got a fire going and some food set out for the dogs, you went outside. Oberyn tried to stop you, but you ignored him, opting to stand out back of the house instead. Rain soaked you to the bone immediately, but you didn’t care. The rain was warm and comforting, like being hugged by an old friend. Your hair slicked to your head and your clothes were sticking to your skin, but you simply tipped your head to the heavens and smiled.
You were out for a surprisingly long time before Oberyn braved the rain. He shielded his eyes and stood beside you, shoulders hunched. “Are you going to come back inside? You’ll catch a chill if you stay out here much longer!”
You shook your head. “No I won’t,” you said, looking over when a crack of thunder interrupted you. “Relax Oberyn, it’s only rain.”
Eventually, Oberyn loosened, standing next to you and admiring the rain. When he spoke again, his voice was full of wonder. “You worked in these conditions?”
You nodded. “Sometimes, the rain lasts for weeks,” you said. “We need to hunt, eat, and gather, so yes. I worked in the rain a lot.”
A bell sounded in the distance, and Oberyn looked over, shielding his eyes. “What’s that?”
“Dinner!” You said eagerly, taking his hand. “Come on. You want to see what I love about home? I’ll show you.”
The dinner hall was a sturdy building, bigger than the others. People filtered in, all soaked from the rain, so yours and Oberyn’s wet state wasn’t unusual.
“The dog keeper is home!” Someone said cheerily, seeing you showing Oberyn how to quickly towel his hair dry. Immediately, people began to crowd you, hugging you and asking why you’d returned.
“Oh,” you said, squeezing water out of your coat. “Someone asked me where I came from that would justify me calling Dorne hot as an oven. I felt compelled to show him.” You looped an arm through Oberyn’s elbow, and he looked at people you’d spent your entire life surrounded by.
“Is that Prince Oberyn Martell?” Someone finally asked in a hushed tone.
You shrugged. “Maybe in Dorne he is,” you said. “But out here, he’s just Oberyn.”
Oberyn seemed grateful, and you pulled him to a table. Food was passed around, and the conversation picked up once more. With the warm fire blazing at the front of the hall and the fall of rain against the roof, you felt more at home than you’d ever been. The people around you were your age, and they pushed you for questions about Dorne.
“Oh it’s beautiful,” you said, stirring your stew and dipping your slice of bread into your bowl. “But it’s so hot! I don’t know how those Dornishmen survive the heat in their robes!”
“We’re born there,” Oberyn said, bumping elbows with you. “Unlike you, that heat is all we’ve known.”
You grinned. “I will say, they let me play with the Prince’s dogs, so it’s not all bad.”
“Play?” Oberyn said, stunned. “You trained all the dogs! Let me tell you,” he said, turning to the people around you. “I’ve never met a better dog trainer in my life. If they weren’t so insistent upon working in the kitchens, I’d have promoted them to full time animal trainer already! Lord knows our horses need the firm hand.”
The people around you began to tell Oberyn about your past while you ate, happily telling him about how you’d once trained the village dogs to hunt in the pouring rain by slathering yourself in animal fat and racing through the woods while they hunted you down during the rainy season.
“Is that what you did with my dogs?” He asked when the story was done.
You shrugged. “More or less,” you said. “I take bits of my own breakfast and bait the girls. I told you, that was how I got them to swim so fearlessly.”
Oberyn nodded. “You know you could just ask for more food if you’re going to be sacrificing your own breakfast for my dogs.”
Another shrug. “I don’t mind.”
“Did you bring the dogs?” Someone asked, and you nodded.
“Of course!” You said. “I’ll let the young ones play with them tomorrow if this rain lets up. Although, it is what I missed most.”
“The rain?” The person sitting across from you asked. “Does it not rain in Dorne?”
You sighed, mopping up the last remnants of stew with bread you’d taken from Oberyn. “Not enough,” you said wistfully. “The most it’s rained since I moved there was an hour’s worth of mild rain. And it only rains once every month! It’s hell.”
After dinner came dessert, a sweet pastry filled with oozing red berries and topped with sticky honey. It wasn’t something that was made very often, and you ate yours quickly, savoring the flavors. Oberyn was more hesitant, and was a bit more dignified. However, no amount of dignity saved him from the fruit juices dripping down his chin and you laughing at him while handing him something to wipe his face.
After all the food was eaten, you bid everyone goodbye and braved the rain yet again. It was lighter now, and the children were chasing each other around, happily shouting and playing with the sturdy village hunting dogs. There was no rush for anything, and you didn’t hurry home. Instead, you walked slowly, despite the light rain, taking in all that you’d lost when you left. Oberyn held your hand, the hood of his robe pulled up over his head. He looked at ease here.
When you reached your house, the rain was no more than a light mist, and you eagerly pulled Oberyn around back. The sun was almost gone, but the final rays soaked the land in gold, illuminating the rolling hills and picturesque plains.
“Take a deep breath,” you said softly, seeing Oberyn’s eyes go wide. “And tell me what you smell.”
Oberyn took a breath, staying silent for a moment. “I can’t describe it,” he said, voice soft with awe. “It smells like earth and water and something not of this world.”
“It’s called petrichor,” you said. “The smell of rain on dry soil.”
A delicate silence lapsed over you two, bound only by your connected hands as you watched the sun fully set. Once the sky was dark, you pulled Oberyn inside, handing him a towel so he could dry off.
“How long are we staying?” You asked, stripping out of your soaked clothes and hanging them to dry on a line.
Oberyn, who was in another room for privacy, made a small noise. “I don’t know. A week? I must return at some point.”
You smiled, pulling on a linen shift and tossing another log into the fire that the dogs were surrounding. “I agree. I suppose the girls I work with will be disappointed if I don’t return.”
Oberyn came out of the room wearing a shift identical to yours. He began to hang his clothes beside yours. “It’s nice here,” he said. “I don’t know why anyone would ever want to leave.”
“I didn’t,” you reminded him. “If I’d been able to, I would’ve stayed here all my life. But then I would’ve never met you or your dogs.”
Oberyn smiled, sitting beside the dogs and gesturing you close. You sat with him, facing the fire. Hestia woke up, set her head in your lap, and fell asleep immediately after. You stroked her ears, humming to yourself. “Thank you for bringing me back.”
“Thank you for allowing me to come along,” Oberyn replied.
As you grew more and more tired, you finally relented and stood to go to sleep. “You’re welcome to join me,” you said to Oberyn. “I apologize, but there’s only one bed.”
Oberyn stood. “It’s fine. We can share.”
You took the right side of the bed and Oneryn took the left, you giving him an extra blanket when he started to shiver. His chills never faded, and you did the only thing left. You shifted in the bed, curling up against Oberyn’s chest and wrapping your arms around his middle, giving him your body heat.
“Your Dornish blood is at a cruel disadvantage out here,” you said softly, and you felt Oberyn chuckle.
“I’ll just have to adapt,” he murmured.
The next morning, you woke to no rain and a perfectly blue sky. Oberyn stayed asleep as you got dressed, made breakfast, and let the dogs out to play with the eagerly waiting children. As Oberyn’s dogs raced off to entertain the kids, you sat beside an open window, waiting for Oberyn to wake up.
When he finally did, he sat across from you at the tiny table and slowly began to eat, blinking sleepily at you from time to time.
“Good morning sleepy head,” you said finally, once the food had all been eaten and Oberyn looked a bit more awake. “How’d you sleep?”
Oberyn looked up at you. “Great. Where are the girls?”
“Outside with the kids,” you said, pointing out the window, where you could see the dogs running around with the children. “We’ll hunt them later, but for now, let them have their fun.”
“Ah.” Oberyn nodded. “Okay. So what do we do?”
You shrugged. “Typically, I’d have been working for a while by now.”
“We could work.”
“With those hands?” You said, taking Oberyn’s hands in your own. “Your skin isn’t accustomed to my kind of work, it would split immediately.”
Oberyn smiled. “So what do we do?” He asked again.
You squeezed his hands. “Whatever we want, Oberyn.”
“What if I want to go back to bed with you by my side?” Oberyn asked.
“Well then.” You stood, shedding your coat. “I guess we better get going.”

Familiar!Heisenberg x Witch!Reader Pt.1 of 2
Summary: Your wolf familiar Heisenberg is a nuisance, as always.
No triggers! :)
Mia looks down into her cup of tea. The cup was shallow and wide, with several golden rings, getting progressively closer as they reached the edge of the cup. Steam rose from the water, bringing the chamomile aroma up into her nose. She looks over at her husband and smiles, softly. “Ethan, we need to gift her another tea set, they only have the tasseography set we gifted them when they moved out.”
You give a hearty chuckle. “I only use these when you come around, the set misses you very much.”
Ethan smiles at you, rubbing the back of his sleeping baby with his hand. “Witches-ware tends to do that, miss the ones who owned it before, hence why I’m not very for giving a new witch used goods.” He gives a jokingly stern look to his wife before he continues. “But Mia insisted.”
“Well, they haven’t smashed them yet, so I think I made the right call!”
You bring a cup from another set up to your lips and take a sip, pinky out just to poke slight fun at her. “I think you’re familiar is rubbing off on you, Mia,” you say, “you come into my house, complain about my tea-set and not even mention that I used fresh Blood of Hestia and Elf Leaf to make the tea you’re currently drinking.” Ethan tries so hard not to laugh at her, knowing a smack on his forehead would follow shortly after. “You know, I’m sure if my familiar was here right now, I’m sure you’d kick him with your new heels on the way out the door.”
Her eye twitches slightly, “Alcina isn’t that bad, is she Ethan?”
He sighs. “I think the only reason she tolerates either of us is because she likes Rose. She’s more Rose’s familiar than she is either of ours.”
“Well at least our-“
“Rose’s-“ You correct.
“Well at least Rose’s familiar doesn’t track in di-“
Her statement is interrupted by your familiar, in human form, bursting through the door and ducking under the frame. He’s covered head to toe in dirt, more mud caked on his boots frosting on a cake, holding various plants in his thick-gloved hands. As soon as the door opened, you could see that feral grin spread across his face, his fangs visible. “I’ve brought the plants you asked for.”
“Excuse me Mia, Ethan.” You rise from your seat to greet your familiar and remove his hat and glasses from his head. His salt and pepper hair and wolf ears are visible. “Hello, Karl.” You place a hand on either cheek and go on your tippy-toes, and he leans down so you can place a curt kiss on his forehead. “Someone went rolling in the mud on their way back.” You too have a cheeky grin on your face.
“Can’t help myself, it’s in my blood.” It’s not “blood” so much as nature, rescues do that,
“I know.” You made it a point to keep your hands on his cheeks. The well-needed attention made him burn like a fever. “You got the eyebright and Dog Berries?”
“Ran into some lion’s teeth and-“ He stops and sniffs the air for a second before turning to Mia and Ethan. “Well, well, if it isn’t the Winter’s and their little dew of the sea…” He goes to step further into the house, but you place a firm hand on his chest. It only stops him because he lets it.
“Take your shoes off and put the herbs in the sink before you greet the guests.”
His expression of smug joy deflates for a moment. He, just like his blood sister Alcina, had taken an extreme liking to Rose. Although his was in a more, “uncle who encourages bad decision making” rather than a genuine care-taker kind of way.
You turn back and seat yourself on the stool again. “I’d apologize about that, but I love him far too much to feel bad about getting up mid-conversation to welcome him home.”
Mia smiles into her teacup but startles and almost spills it on herself when she hears you turn around and yell, “when you’re done bring a stool from the island and come sit with us.”
“Really?” Ethan deadpans.
“Yes, really. He’s very fond of you, did you know he-“ you’re interrupted by him plopping the metal stool he levitated over at the round table and him hastily sitting his ass down in it.
“So, how are the Winter’s doing?” He immediately turns to Rose. “And how’s little Rose doing too?”
Upon hearing his voice, Rose eye’s open, and she looks up at him, and reaches out her little hands. He reaches his freshly washed hand out and lets her grab his index finger. “I’d die for you, kiddo.” He has an uncharacteristically soft smile across his face. Rose giggles and the rest of his features visibly melt.
“Don’t tell her that too often,” Mia jokes, “she just might take that seriously and use you to do something devious.”
“Nothing she does will ever be devious, she’s far too sweet,” he says, “you have an angel in your arms, and not even the cruelest of hearts will change that.” And then he turns and continues to coo at the baby while you and the couple talk about various things.
Eventually, it’s time for them to go, and before they do, Karl practically runs to his workshop. “I have a new toy for your little dew-drop!”
“Dew-drop?” Ethan repeats softer.
“It’s his little nickname for the baby,” you clarify, “because her full name is Rosemary, and you can also call rosemary dew of the sea, and since she’s so small, dew-drop.”
Mia looks down at the baby. “That’s so cute-“
“And we are never calling her that.”
Karl is back, holding a small toy car, painted bright colors, not a sharp or small piece in sight. “I made her a toy car.” He approaches the couple and hands the toy car to Mia, who is holding the scones she came to pick up, while Ethan is holding the baby.
“We never have to buy her toys because you make them all.”
“That’s why I make them, so she knows each one is made with love.” He grins like a puppy that didn’t get caught for chewing the table leg. It’s almost disarming.
Ethan looks like he’s going to barf. You’d smack him if he wasn’t holding the baby. “Well, we’d best be heading out,” he says, and turns and opens the door without being prompted, “we have to walk Alcina.”
After the leave, Karl turns to you. “Alcina is a 9’6’’ tall woman, the only parts of the walk she’ll have issues with is going in and out the door. Fucking super-sized bitch,” he grumbles to himself, heading back to the kitchen to open the refrigerator door.
“Are you hungry?”
“No, just bored.” He closes the door again and wanders into your now open arms.
“You were out in the heat for a few hours, maybe you should take a nap.”
“And you were slaving away in that kitchen making that batch of soap for god-knows how long.”
“I’ve been working on that since five in the morning, so about six hours now.”
“We should both take a nap.” He’s already dragging you to the shared bedroom before you can complain.
“You’re sleeping at the foot of the bed, wolf-boy.”
He blatantly refuses, and instead makes himself comfortable, holding you to his chest like a stuffed animal. “I prefer holding you much more.” It’d be sweet if it weren’t so taboo to let him push you around like this.
“I own you, we both know this.”
“Sure you do,” he yawns, “you let me sleep in your bed, eat at the table with you, go grocery shopping with you-“
“I treat you like a person instead of property, I get it,” you grumble, “I love you, and clearly you’ve let that get to your head.”
He goes uncharacteristically quiet for a moment. “You love me.”
“Of course, I do, not quit talking before I kick you to your own bed.” He does, in fact, have his own bed, that he fits in just fine, that he’s used exactly once. It was his first night here, and he slept for three hours before crawling into yours after three hours because he had a nightmare. He’s never slept in it again. Bastard. But you never really blamed him, you rescued him and his siblings, and their owner was an absolute shithead.
“You’d never.” He places a kiss on the crown of your head. “You love me too much.”
“Weren’t you the one who suggested we nap together?”
“It was you.”
“Goddamn it.”
He squeezes around you tighter, and by the time you fall asleep, you feel his breathing in your ear. You spoil him far too much, to the point where people think you are lovers. Perhaps it’s because you wished you could be, sometimes. It’d be funny, to see how that’d play out. It’s not as taboo as it used to be, but still very much frowned upon. For good reason too. While he isn’t bound in servitude like familiars were long ago, like he was with his previous master, the power imbalance is much too large for you to feel comfortable with it.
He depended on your magic to stay alive, and while he could rely on the magic of the earth, it just wasn’t the same as a witch that cared about him as much as you did. His telekinesis was so much stronger since he moved in with you and got a sudden intense boost just recently.
It’s because you loved him.
Fuck.

hi! can you ship me with marvel, teen wolf & the vampire diaries ? my hair is dyed blonde but it’s originally auburn & i have grey eyes ( blue/ grey ? ) i love adventures + road trips and the color pink. i love hearts and i love doing my nails. i like to make friends and i have a lot of animals :)
ofc ofc ofc so sorry for the late reply hunny!! okay okay so excited to be doing this again here we go!
i dunno but my first thought for tvd was klaus, he’d constantly be prepared to take you across the world and show you all of its greatest sights (recommend notre dam it was beau!). and whilst he did so he’d tell you all of the stories from his times passing through or living places, I also feel like being on the road for a bit and not remaining in his own territory would do this man some good, and he’d be absolutely in his element to spend some well needed time with you and focus on nothing else but your relationship. not to mention he’d wanna go to all of the museums across the world and talk in detail about the artists that he’d met or heard great things about, I feel like klaus would get a little nerdy about that. as known he liked to go on carriage rides so with you liking animals it’d be a win win maybe he’d draw you a portrait of one too iykyk.
Sam Wilson, because this man could take you across the seas on his parents boat and he’d treat you like an absolute queen. I feel as though the journey of you two would have started out at the end of aou with the two of you being new recruits for the avengers, with training and missions that you’d have to go on you’d grow quite close with all of the time you’d have to spend together, for a while you’d feel as though he was just a friend, but eventually within the time you’re having to hide out you stay with him and Sarah and his kids and see that you two could be more and that you want to be. and whilst doing your nails isn’t always the best attire for going out into the battlefield, Sam would always buy you any new polishes or tools that you need to redo them whether that be to your room or when the team is watching a movie. this man is a sweetheart not to forget to mention on the quinjet home he’d allow you to fall asleep on his shoulder
Okay so here me out on this one, Liam would literally be like your very own puppy and not that you’d need more animals but this boy would literally do ANYTHING for you. he’s hella whipped which is adorable, but not only do your thrills for adventure cause occasional trouble for the pack, but they make for great stories that you both look back on and laugh at, like the time that you stole Stiles’ jeep because your car was in the garage. Let’s just say he wasn’t too happy about that but it made for some great time for you to spend with the baby beta and you had no regrets. and the most cute thing is that Liam is always willing to learn things that you like to do so that he can help; such as your nails and whilst he definitely wouldn’t be an artist with it he’d definitely try his hardest and have this firm look of concentration on his face as he did it!

Monster Food Theories (part 2)
(A multi-part essay because I love world-building.)
In part 1 I discussed the theory that monster food is actually made from physical food that’s been infused with magic, and therefore monster food is limited to what can be farmed in the Underground.
In this next part, I’m going to springboard off that idea and talk about what foods exist in the Underground (and therefore what crops and livestock monsters likely have.)
The very first thing I want to look at is what food canonically exists in the game. I’m going to break this up into two sections...
1) Food We Interact With Directly (Healing items we can pick up and get information on.)
* Monster Candy - Has a distinct, non-licorice flavor. Heals 10 HP. * Spider Donut - A donut made with Spider Cider in the batter. Heals 12 HP. * Spider Cider - Made with whole spiders, not just the juice. Heals 24 HP. * Butterscotch Pie - Butterscotch-cinnamon pie, one slice. Heals ALL HP. * Snail Pie - Heals some HP. An acquired taste. Heals one less than max HP. * Nice Cream - Instead of a joke, the wrapper says something nice. Heals 15 HP. * Bisicle - It’s a two-pronged popsicle, so you can eat it twice. Heals 11 HP. * Unicicle - It’s a SINGLE-pronged popsicle. Wait that’s just normal... Heals 11 HP. * Cinnamon Bunny - A cinnamon roll in the shape of a bunny. Heals 22 HP. * Astronaut Food - For feeding a pet astronaut. Heals 21 HP. * Crab Apple - An aquatic fruit that resembles a crustacean. Heals 18 HP. * Sea Tea - Made from glowing marsh water. Increases SPEED for one battle. Heals 10 HP. * Abandoned Quiche - A psychologically damaged spinach egg pie. Heals 34 HP. * Temmie Flakes - It’s just torn up pieces of construction paper. Heals 2 HP. * Dog Salad - Recovers HP (Hit Poodles.) Heals 2/10/30/ALL HP. * Instant Noodles - Comes with everything you need for a quick meal! Heals 4/15/90 HP. * Hot Dog...? - The “meat” is made out of something called a “water sausage.” Heals 20 HP. * Hot Cat - Like a hot dog, but with little cat ears on the end. Heals 21 HP. * Junk Food - Food that was probably once thrown away. Heals 17 HP. * Starfait - A sweet treat made of sparkling stars. Heals 14 HP. * Glamburger - A hamburger made of edible glitter and sequins. Heals 27 HP. * Legendary Hero - Sandwich shaped like a sword. Increases ATTACK when eaten. Heals 40 HP. * Steak in the Shape of Mettaton’s Face - Huge steak in the shape of Mettaton’s face. You don’t feel like it’s made of real meat... Heals 60 HP. * Popato Chisps - Regular old popato chisps. Heals 13 HP. (Note: I’ve chosen to leave the Hush Puppy off of this list, as its description refers to it as a spell. I’m also excluding the foods that can only be found by digging around in the game files - Puppydough Ice Cream, Pumpkin Rings, Rock Candy, Croquet Roll, Ghost Fruit, and Stoic Onion.)
2) Food We Only See, or Hear About Through Character Dialogue (I did my best to be thorough here, but please let me know if I missed any and I’ll add them in!)
* Hamburger (For sale at Grillby’s) * Fries (For sale at Grillby’s) * Cheese Fries (Undyne likes them, for sale at Grillby’s) * Ketchup (Found at Grillby’s / Sans’ Hot Dog Stand) * Mustard (Found at Sans’ Hot Dog Stand) * Relish (Found at Sans’s Hot Dog Stand) * Spaghetti (Made by Papyrus and Undyne) * Lasagna/Ravioli/various other pastas (Mentioned by Papyrus) * Brewskis (aka Beer) (Mentioned in a prank call) * Sugar (In Undyne’s kitchen) * Soda (In Undyne’s kitchen / Alphys’ Lab) * Hot Chocolate (Mentioned by Undyne) * Marshmallows (Mentioned by Undyne) * Golden Flower Tea (In Undyne’s kitchen / Offered by Asgore) * Grapes (Undyne talks about Mettaton eating them) * Pizza (Undyne and Alphys both talk about ordering some) * Limes (Undyne mentions eating them whole) * Cucumbers (Come up when Undyne and Papyrus talk about spa treatments) * Carrots (Mentioned by Asgore on the tapes in the true lab) * Lollipops (Papyrus mentions getting them from the lady who runs the inn) * Ice cream (Mentioned multiple times by multiple characters) * Espresso (Mentioned by Red Bird at Grillby’s) * Cake (Mettaton specifically breaks the ingredients down into SUGAR, MILK, EGGS during his cooking segment) * Artificial Ingredients and Chemicals (Also mentioned by Mettaton)
(Note: I’m leaving edamame off the list because while Toriel mentions it, she does it as a joke because she’s after the pun. It’s possible that monsters have edamame, or it could just be something she’s aware exists in the world in general.)
So! Looking at this list, and cross referencing with recipes to find the most basic necessary ingredients to make everything, I can break things down more neatly into categories of available food:
STARCHES * Wheat * Potatoes * Barley
FRUITS AND VEGETABLES * Apples * Grapes * Limes * Tomatoes * Cucumbers * Spinach PROTEIN AND DAIRY * Snails * Water sausages * Eggs * Milk
HERBS AND SPICES * Cinnamon * Mustard Seed
MISC * Salt * Sugar * Oil * Coffee * Chocolate * Assorted artificial ingredients and chemicals * Golden flowers (unique to the Underground?) * Hops (only because of the mention of “brewskis”)
(Note: I’m excluding a few healing items from contributing to this list. The Astronaut Food’s origin is nebulous - it sounds like it could possibly be human food that fell from the surface and landed in the dump. Temmie Flakes are construction paper and not actually food, even if they are technically consumable. Dog Salad is clearly an outlier and should not be counted.)
When broken down to its base components, it’s a pretty small list. Monsters don’t seem to have a lot to work with.
A lot of their foods revolve around the same few staple ingredients: Flour, eggs, sugar, and milk products. From that we can take a guess that there are wheat fields somewhere in the Underground. Likewise, they likely keep chickens as well for eggs (though other birds like ducks might be a possibility too.) Sugar and milk have more options. Sugar might come from sugar cane or sugar beets, while milk could come from a variety of animals, but I think goats or sheep are more likely than cows for a variety of reasons (mainly that cows might be too much of a resource drain to support long term.)
Interestingly, we never get any indication that monsters eat animals besides snails. The information we get on the hot dogs and steak make it clear that they’re not made out of meat (and if the steaks aren’t meat, it feels reasonable that the hamburgers aren’t either.) This makes sense, since the Underground has limited space and resources and might not be able to support farms dedicated to raising animals for meat, and/or might not be able to meet the demands of a populace that wants to eat meat regularly. If it’s eaten at all, meat might be a rare treat. Otherwise, it looks like the monster population could be largely vegetarian.
With a basic list of crops, we can also make a guess at what sort of alcohols might be available in Grillby’s bar. Monsters have apples, grapes, potatoes, and sugar, so we can guess that in addition to beer (since it gets mentioned specifically), monsters could also have hard cider, wine, brandy, whisky, rum, vodka, and moonshine.
If we want to be a bit more generous and include possible foods and foods that didn’t quite make it officially into the game, we can add back in edamame, pumpkins, and onions.
And, just for fun and going off of nothing except the environment of the game, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to think monsters might be able to round out their pantries with a few other foods that occur naturally in the caverns. Mushrooms show up in the damper areas of the game, so it’s not far fetched to think that there might be a few edible varieties available. Likewise, we see streams and marshes in Waterfall that support life. It’s possible that there are fish, crayfish, or shellfish living in there, or possibly other edible plants besides the water sausage.
This went a bit longer than I originally planned, so in the next part I’ll talk about what might make monster food inherently different from human food (even without monsters intentionally doing anything to it), and possibly theories about how and why monsters ended up with this specific, limited variety of foods they seem to be working off of.
#writing things#game theory#undertale#all of this because I got to wondering whether or not monsters would know about tequila or not in a story I'm writing#hahaha

Are you going to start posting about raw feed diets? Like sharing pictures, or talking about what you got and maybe why, or just anything about it? Because pet nutrition is a pretty big interest of mine so I'm going to be REALLY excited if you are haha (though no pressure if you don't want to!!)
i actually just prepped all his food for the month!
i think my goal right now is to have him eat a raw dinner every other night. I just spent about 20 bucks on meat for him (i still have to get him fish oil and sea vegetable supplements), which isn’t too steep for a month worth of food. that, plus the 18$ for his bag of food (i got the acana puppy food), means i’d be spending about 38$ on his food monthly (plus whatever the supplements cost, but not sure how much that’ll be...). not TERRIBLY steep, i’ll probably cut back on my groceries/takeout a little and/or do more prints for the shop
main reason i’m not going FULL raw is because of the cost & the amount of prep time. it’ll also be convenient to have him eat the dry food when i’m traveling or if money gets tight OR if someone is pet sitting for me at any point
i checked out the book ‘raw and natural nutrition for dogs” and have been using that as a guide. it’s SUPER interesting, too, to read about the dog food industry. did you know that dogs don’t really need carbs? the reason there’s so much in commercial dog food is because it’s cheaper and makes it more shelf-stable. it’s WILD! you should definitely check out the book just to read that chapter alone (if you haven’t already)
so because I have ZERO experience doing this i’m going to try to pay attention to how he seems to be feeling. I think I did a decent job in the variation of bone-in meat, organ, and muscle
i’ve made bags that are about 8 ounces each and i’m keeping them in the freezer until the day before he’ll eat it- then i’ll put it in the refrigerator to let it slowly thaw. not a good idea to feed your dog frozen meat
he’s only about 27 pounds right now but I do think he’s going to grow up to be a medium dog. I’m GUESSING about 45 pounds (mountain curs are 30-60 pounds, but unsure of what terrier breeding he might have. and, 27 pounds is pretty big for a puppy. we think he was born in October). the amount of food will be adjusted accordingly, though
I picked up: chicken gizzards & hearts, chicken liver, 5 pink salmon (bone-in, canned in water), chicken wings (uncooked, bone-in), ground pork, quail eggs, and cottage cheese
at first I tried to weigh everything and calculate how much to put of each ingredient in each bag for each meal, but i soon found it was hard to estimate because I didn’t realize the weight of the packaging messed with it so much, so then I just tried to make sure each meal has bone, organ, and muscle meat. there’s plenty of info in the book & online, as well as examples so I tried to keep the ratios similar
each bag has ABOUT: 1.5 oz hearts/gizzards & 1.5 oz liver. then, some bags have either 1 wing (~3 oz) OR ~3 ounces of salmon, and then each bag was topped off with about 1-2 ounces of ground pork (some got more, some got less; I tried to keep them JUST shy of 8 ounces because he’s going to get about a 1/2 ounce of cottage cheese with each meal AND a quail egg in shell (which was 0.4 ounces when i weighed it). might throw in a few blueberries, too, since i usually have those on hand
i’ll try to remember to take a photo of his bowl when i feed him tomorrow! really hoping he likes it and that it’ll be sort of a special treat after a day that will likely be sort of overwhelming for him
IF YOU WANT TO RAW FEED YOUR PET: please do your research! i’d recommend checking out the book i mentioned above and reading plenty of things online. i am NOT an animal nutritionist and this is my first try so don’t base your choices off of mine! but any input is welcome (-:

➵ 𝑎/𝑛: I wasn’t actually going to update this series until after spooky month, but then miss Sora suggested I write a lil drabble in celebration of Jimin’s birthday and I just couldn’t resist!! However,,,, this is clearly longer than a drabble and thus ITS A MINI!!! So here we are!! // dedicated to @honeymoonjin who I love with my entire heart and soul ♡
⏤ Main Series Masterlist
“Noona!” Jimin calls out. Smiling brightly, you wave at him. The six-year-old runs towards you, his little backpack bouncing in tandem with his hair.
“Jiminie! Hi Puppy! Did you have a good day at school?” you ask, crouching down to his eye level.
“I did! Where’s Daddy?” Jimin asks, curiously looking around for his father. You bite your lip, sending him a small smile.
“Daddy had to work today, so noona is here to pick you up. Where are Taehyung and Jungkook?” you ask, looking behind him for his brothers.
“It’s Wednesday! Gukkie and Hyungie have art club!” Jimin replies, smiling brightly at you.
“Oh? Joon didn’t tell me anything about that. Okay,” you reply, a slight frown marring your face.
“Noona,” Jimin suddenly whispers, his chubby little hand tugging at your jumper as he draws your attention back to him. Turning to him, you quirk your eyebrow, watching as he nervously looks around. His little feet shuffle around and you notice that he has one hand behind his back - clearly hiding something.
“Jimin? What’s wrong Puppy? What do you have?” you question, gesturing to the hand behind his back.
“Daddy’s not here? Are you sure?” Jimin asks, his voice hushed and tone almost conspiratorial. From his tone, it seems as if he’s almost hoping Namjoon isn’t around. Cocking your eyebrow, you look at him in surprise. It’s completely unlike Jimin to not want Namjoon near him - the boy was practically attached to his father.
“Daddy’s definitely not here, no. It’s just you and me today. Is everything okay?” you ask softly. Jimin bites his lip.
“If I tell you something, do you promise not to tell Daddy?” Jimin asks, his eyes widening and lip jutting out in the cutest puppy dog eyes you’ve ever seen. You’re at a loss for words. You wish you could promise him that - but Jimin isn’t your child and if it’s something Namjoon needs to know, then you’re almost duty-bound to tell him.
“Jimin- honey, I can’t promise that. What if Daddy needs to know?” you reply. Jimin sniffles slightly and your heart breaks a little.
“Please noona!” he begs and the slight whiny tone in his voice has you caving in with a sigh.
“How about this? You tell me first and I’ll decide whether Daddy needs to know or not?” you say, attempting a compromise. Jimin’s face scrunches up adorably, his cheeks puffing up as he ponders your offer. Then, with a nod, he thrusts the hand behind him in front. Your eyes widen when you notice the plastic bag filled with water, a fat little goldfish swimming around. From the golfball like shape and its thick domed, opalescent scales, you know it to be the Pearlscale goldfish.
“Jimin?” you wearily say. As much as Namjoon loves sea creatures, you know the boys are forbidden from having pets. They’re still too young to properly take care of them and with Namjoon’s busy schedule, he just didn’t have the time to parent three kids as well as a pet. It’s also why the boys were so incredibly close to Rap Mon - he wasn’t technically their pet, he’s yours.
“Hanbinnie’s fishie is sick! I told Hanbinnie that my Noona is a sea doctor!” Jimin says, smiling proudly at you. Your heart lurches, face softening at his use of ‘my Noona’ before he continues, “So here! Make him better!” Jimin says, a wide grin on his face as he thrusts the bag into your face. Reeling back, you startle slightly before gently taking the bag out of Jimin’s hold.
Carefully, you inspect the goldfish. It doesn’t look sick you think - but then you spot it. Cotton-like white growths form along the underbelly of the goldfish, obscuring the iridescent orange scales. You frown slightly. A fungal disease? It’s not particularly contagious - however, it can lead to fatality - even in hardy creatures such as goldfish. Though, from what you know of the Pearlscale goldfish, they’re incredibly sensitive and vulnerable to changes in temperature or pH; and with the weather getting colder, it’s no wonder that the fish caught a fungal disease. It does, after all, only occur due to stress and a lowered immune system. Once done examining the fish, you let out a deep exhale.
“Puppy,” you sigh, “goldfish die sometimes. They’re not pets people keep for a long time,” you continue, trying to be as delicate as possible. The minute the words leave your lips, however, Jimin’s eyes begin tearing up, his cute little button nose turning rose as his bottom lip quivers.
“No! Noona, please! Save the fishie,” Jimin cries, little whimpers escaping his mouth. Instantly, your heart breaks and you gather the sobbing boy into your arms. Jimin clutches your shirt tightly, little fists curling into the material as his tears soak into the fabric.
“Oh honey,” you coo, gently petting his head as you try to console him. Jimin always did have the biggest heart in the world and he loves animals - you know from the way he gets excited every time Namjoon brings him over to the aquarium and he gets starry-eyed - or the way he cuddles up and strokes Rap Mon while telling your pup about his day. Indeed, Jimin has the biggest heart in the world - and apparently, just the thought of someone else’s fish, not even his own, passing away, has him crying in your embrace.
“Please noona,” Jimin sobs, little hiccups escaping him. Taking in a deep breath, you put him at arm's length. You cup his face in your hand, your thumbs brushing away his tears before placing a soft kiss on his forehead. Jimin snivels under your ministration, body slightly relaxing in your hold. Then, you hand him the water-filled bag and easily pick him up into your arms.
“Alright, Puppy. Let’s see what we can do, yeah?” you finally say. Jimin’s lips curl into a large, watery smile.
“Yes! Thank you Noona!” he cries, laying his head on the crook of your neck before snuggling into you as he delicately holds the goldfish.
Face softening, you pull him tighter into you as you walk to your car. How hard could it be to treat a goldfish after all?
Sitting in your lab, you carefully move the goldfish from the bag and into an antiseptic, empty tank - of course, after making sure the tank’s conditions were suitable for it. Jimin stands close to you, hands on the table as he peers over the edge, watching you carefully. He’s barely tall enough to overlook your actions and even as he stands on his tiptoes, only the top of his head and his eyes make it over the counter ledge. Carefully, you grip onto the fish, making sure to keep your clutch gentle while also holding firmly enough so it doesn’t slip out of your grasp - not that your latex glove covered hands are helping.
Plopping it into the tank, you watch as it frantically swims around its new location. Undoubtedly, it’s stressed - not only from your handling of the creature - but also from its new environment. Hopefully, however, it acclimatises pretty quickly. You know that additional stress can lead to white spot disease - and considering the fish is already ill, you want to avoid any further strain on its immune system.
As you leave it to get acclimatised, you move along to gathering the different equipment you’d need to treat it. Jimin watches you with hawk-like eyes before he begins following you around like a lost puppy. Once you’ve gathered the correct equipment and treatments, you take a seat at your laboratory counter once again.
You begin by undoing the filter from the tank, taking out the active carbon as swiftly as you can before replacing it: after all, the fish needs clean water if you want it to recover as soon as possible. When you replace the filter once again, you feel Jimin tug at your trousers. Turning to him, you let out a little laugh as he holds onto the legs of your slacks, his little body jumping as he attempts to crawl into your lap.
Unsnapping the gloves from your hands, you wrap your arms around him and pull him into your lap. Jimin grins at you before shifting into a more comfortable position. Your arms cage his body as you resume working on the fish. Jimin’s eyes follow your exact movements, watching as you reach out for a little brown glass bottle. He turns to you, his head tilting up slightly.
“What’s that noona?” Jimin asks, curiosity laced through his voice.
“Methylene Blue,” you hum back in response, not really thinking about your answer. Jimin’s features twist, his face falling.
“What’s what?” he asks. You stop, letting out a little laugh.
“Sorry honey,” you apologise. You’d completely forgotten that Jimin is simply a six-year-old and not a trained veterinarian like you are, “it’s a type of medicine. To treat your friend’s fish,” you explain. Jimin nods in response, turning back to watch you carefully unscrew the lid before he once again turns back to you.
“Can I help?” he inquires, his head tilting to the side. A smile curls on your lips before you nod at him. Jimin grins brightly in response before excitedly placing his little, chubby hands on the back of your own. His hands follow yours as you treat the tank with a few drops of the solution, watching as the colour of the water tints blue.
“Is that it?” Jimin asks, his body moving forward as he stares at the fish in interest. With a chuckle you shake your head, instead, reaching for another bottle.
“Not just yet. We need to add the freshwater aquarium salt and then let the fish do the rest. Hopefully, it will recover soon,” you reply gently. Jimin nods enthusiastically.
“Hanbinnie will be so happy! I can’t wait to give him back his fishie and tell him my noona made him better!” Jimin happily says as he kicks his legs enthusiastically. Once again, your heart swells at his use of ‘my noona’.
“Would you like to add the salt, Puppy?” The words tumble out of your mouth before you even think about them. Jimin sits up in interest, his entire body perking up as he nods frantically.
“Yes, please! Can I?” he asks, the words racing out of his mouth as he buzzes with excitement. A light laugh leaves your lips and you stroke his head before nodding. Taking the bottle in your hand, you measure out the appropriate amount into a beaker before handing him the glass jar.
“Okay, just sprinkle this over the water and then we’re done!” you reply. Jimin carefully takes the beaker into his little palms, the jar almost dwarfing his hands. Then, with the utmost look of concentration and his little tongue poking out of his plump lips, he carefully sprinkles the salt over the water.
“Like this?” he asks, nervously turning to you.
“Just like that!” you reply, arms automatically wrapping around his plump little belly. Jimin keens under your praise, smiling brightly as his eyes turn into little half-moons. When he’s done, he places it back down and leans his head into the crook of your neck, watching as you finish off by stirring the water - as gently as you can to not disturb the goldfish - so the salt mixes in.
“All done! Now, I’ll need to keep Hanbin’s fish here in the lab under observation for a couple of days. But when he’s healthy again, you can come and get him and give him back to Hanbin, is that okay?” you ask. Jimin nods eagerly.
“Yes! Thank you noona! You’re the best!” Jimin responds before twisting in your arms and hugging you tightly. Your face softens as you once again wrap your arm around him.
“Mhm. Are you ready to head home now?” you ask and Jimin nods once again before hopping off the chair and running to grab his coat. Laughingly, you follow him before helping him put on his jacket and wrap up warm. Then, you hold out your hand, letting Jimin’s mitten covered one grab it.
“Come on then. I’m sure Daddy, Taehyungie and Jungkookie are waiting for us,” you say as you lead him out of your lab. Before you do, however, he stops and looks at you with curious eyes. Turning to him, you cock an eyebrow as you wait for him to say what’s on his mind.
“Noona… do you think I could become a sea doctor?” Jimin asks. Your eyebrows shoot into your hairline at his sudden question, surprise filling you.
“Hmm. You’d have to work hard, but I don’t see why not,” you finally reply. Your words cause him to beam brightly at you, a toothy smile on his lips as his eyes squish together.
“Then I’m going to become a sea doctor! Just like you noona!” Jimin calls out cheerily. And with that, he tugs you out of your own lab.

Apple, Delight (Sternclay)
Prompt for the fourth was: Apple Orchard
Barclay has cinnamon sugar in his pores, he’s certain of it. The first of October means the crowds arrive in earnest to Amnesty Farm which, from late September to mid-November, becomes a center for fall fun. They don’t serve tons of food, but Barclay is in charge of what they do offer, his pride and joy being their apple cider doughnuts, which he’s made by dozen since eight that morning.
He’s ready to settle in for the night when he discovers he has less firewood than he thought. Ah well, Sass needs to go out anyway, a trip to the wood pile won’t kill him.
Except, as he’s gathering an armful of chopped logs, Sass goes tearing off towards the orchards, dark fur disappearing into the shadows under the trees.
Barclay sighs, sets the wood down and starts off after him. It’s not like he can get too lost, since the farm is fenced in on all sides, but it’s supposed to rain tonight and he’d hate for him to be out in it. Plus, if he gets into the garden display again, Dani will be pissed.
He passes the petting zoo, then the goat and sheep pens, smiling when soft clucks come from the chicken coop. They’re on a country road, so at night there’s no traffic to drown out the sounds of the farm and the nearby woods. Maybe some people find it eerie, but hes’ grateful for the relative quiet after a day of being in the kitchen.
Skirting the end of the U-Pick Pumpkin Patch brings him to the apple orchards. There are also pear and cherry trees, but the apples make up the bulk of what they grow, and visitors are welcome to pick from designated sections.
Now if only he could spot a wagging tail or hear a jingling collar in the midst of them.
“Sass!” He whistles, but no shape comes bounding towards him. Usually when the dog fails to come when called, it’s because he’s chasing some poor squirrel or rabbit into the underbrush.
Which is why, when he hears a distinctly human cry of alarm, Barclay jumps out of his skin before taking off towards the subsequent barks.
He finds Sass directing his deep woofs at a man about Barclay’s age, with dark hair that was slicked back at some point but is now mussed, and a sweater and jeans that are far too clean for him to be a farmhand. When he gets closer, he realizes he recognizes the guy; he’d been in with his family earlier that day, and Barclay had just enough time to think he was hotter than the fryer before a new wave of visitors came to the counter. Given that he was there with a woman and young girl, he’s gonna assume the guy is off-limits for flirting.
“Sass, c’mon boy, heel.”
The dog turns, lopes over to Barclay as he steps to the man and offers a hand.
“Sorry, he’s a surprisingly good guard dog for something that gets distracted by butterflies.”
The man takes his hand, stands and brushes leaves from his sweater, “and he's terrifying to have bolting towards you out of the darkness.”
Barclay raises an eyebrow, “that's kind of the point of a guard dog. Y’know, keeping intruders out?”
“I’m not an intruder, I am a visitor who misplaced something.”
“We’ve been closed for two hours.”
“I’m aware. But the front gate was locked and I couldn't get anyone’s attention.”
“Because the staff who live here live out towards the back. That's why we put that phone number on the gate. '' He turns them back towards the cottage, Sass trotting happily in front of them.
“Which would have worked perfectly. If the thing I was missing wasn't my phone.” The man holds up a smartphone.
“I mean, guess it’s good you found it, but you coulda used someone else's and let us know to look for i in the lost and found. Folds are good about bringing dropped stuff back to the main farm.”
“I considered that option but I might not have a job come morning if I did it that way.”
“Jesus, where do you work?”
“The FBI.”
“Ah.”
“Yes, pretty much.”
“That how come you were able to scale the fence so easily?”
The man nods.
“What kind of work do you do in the FBI?” He may as well make the most of having a cute guy walking with him. A little practice flirting can’t hurt. God knows he needs it.
“I work for the, um, the UP.”
“....Holy shit, I didn’t know that was real, I thought they made it up for the X-Files.”
“No, though it involves far more dead ends than that show portrays. Oddly, Twin Peaks is more accurate to what I do.”
“Man, that’s fucking cool agh, shit” rain patters on the leaves, “please tell me you moved your car away from the gate?”
“Only a little.”
“Shit. Okay, you probably figured it out from wandering around, but we are literally on the other end of the property right now, and the golf cart is in the shop.”
“It’s, um, it’s alright, if you get me to the main route through the farm, I can walk back on my own and climb the fence. Again.” His tone suggests he’s already working through the logistics in his head.
“Uh, if you aren't in too big a hurry, at least let me swing by my place and get you a raincoat?”
“Oh. Um, that’d be great. Thank you.”
They veer right and soon the cottage comes into view. He grabs some dry firewood while Sass waits on the step and the man rubs his hands together.
Once they’re inside, the man turns to him and Barclay has to work to keep his focus on his words rather than the blue eyes and handsome face.
“May I use your restroom? I got a bit muddy.” He holds up his hands.
“Just down the hall.”
The man smiles, and Barclay starts building a fire as he walks away. There’s a ding, and he goes to check in case Mama needs something. But it's not his phone, it’s the other man's, glowing where he set it on the table.
Hayes: I expect better than technical mishaps from you, agent,
Shit, he wasn’t kidding about work. And his other notification is showing thirty unread emails.
The water shuts off in the bathroom and he hurries back to the fire, is just getting it caught when there’s a groan behind him. Turning, he sees his guest running a hand through his black hair, staring defeatedly down at his phone.
“I’m moving to the bottom of the sea.”
Barclay chuckles and the man looks a little embarrassed at being heard.
“If you want something closer to home, we're hiring seasonal help.”
“I’m sure it’d do wonders for my physique, if you’re anything to go by, but I doubt I’m cut out for it. I’m white-collar through and through, unfortunately. Sorry” he looks at the hardwood floor, “probably shouldn’t whine about my job, since you’re helping me stay dry instead after I committed at least two misdemeanors on your property.”
“It’s Mama’s, I just work here. And it’s okay. Though, uh, kinda surprised you wanna talk to some random dude on a farm about it instead of, like, your wife.”
“Wife?”
“The woman who was with you today? You came into the restaurant at one point.”
“Oh! No, that’s my sister, I came with her and my niece. Her opinion on my work troubles is to get a boyfriend so I’ll have someone to complain to.”
Barclay closes the fire grate slightly harder than he means to at that last sentence.
“Did, uh, did you all have a good time?”
“Very. Ellie, my niece, adored all the animals, and Lily comes here every year to pick out pumpkins for decorating the house. I, um, my favorite part was the food. Those doughnuts were amazing, as were the pumpkin scones.”
Barclay blushes; a cute guy complimenting his cooking tends to make him all fluttery.
“You thought those were good, then I got something you need to try. Uh, I mean, if you want to stay a little, if not I can get the coat and we can go.”
The man looks at his phone, then back to Barclay, “what the hell, things are under control until the morning. I’d love to stay. Um, may I dry my sweater by the fire? It got pretty wet just in the few minutes we were out.”
“Sure thing uh, Mr-”
“Joseph is fine.”
Barclay smiles, heading for the kitchen, but not before watching Joseph's shirt catch on his sweater and ride up, revealing honest-to-god cut muscle. Instead of asking if he can lick apple butter off his abs, he grabs the jar of said butter, the loaf of bread, and starts a kettle for tea.
Soon he’s setting a plate and a cup of cranberry-apple tea un front of Joseph, who inhales appreciatively.
“Let me guess; you made all of this?”
“Yep, the apple butter is an old family recipe.”
They eat in silence for a few moments until Sass, roused from his spot by the fire by the smell of food, pads over to sit in front of Joseph and stare. When that fails to produce treats, he turns his puppy-dog eyes on Barclay. The cook makes him sit and shake before tossing him a small piece of bread.
“What kind of dog is he?”
“Bernese Mountain Dog and Rottweiler, we think.”
“Is his name short for something?”
Barclay smiles, “Sasquatch. He had huge feet as a puppy.”
“We have similar dog-naming habits.” Joseph pulls out his phone, “this is Nessie.” When he turns it, Barclay almost snorts tea out his nose, unprepared for the sight of a greyhound in a sweater decorated with tiny Loch Ness Monsters.
“Believe it or not, she adores that sweater. Last time I took it off to be washed, she whined for an hour.”
“Awww” It’s an adorable image, but not quite as adorable as the thought of Joseph on laundry day, in pajama pants and one of Barclay’s shirts, hair still relaxed from a shower.
“She’s a good girl.” He tucks his phone away, “I feel terrible whenever I have to travel for work; my sister can’t take her so I have to board her somewhere, and it’s just infrequent enough that she forgets the staff and is terrified of them anew each time.”
“We could always get her used to me and board her here, assuming she and Sass get along.” The offer is sixty percent out of the goodness of his heart and forty percent wanting to see Joseph smile.
“You’d really do that?”
“The farm is secure, she’d have a playmate, and there’d be lots of people here looking after her. She’d sleep in the cottage, of course.”
Joseph gives him an inquisitive look, then glances down at Sass, who’s wagging his tail so hard he’s sweeping the floor.
“Sure, what the hell. Assuming they get along, the next time I have to go, she can stay here.”
They chat for awhile longer about books, cooking, and various farm mishaps, before Barclay reluctantly fetches the spare raincoat so they can get Joseph back to his car.
“Doesn’t quite bring out your eyes the way that sweater does.” He murmurs, then tries to correct for the come-on with, “because it’s such a, uh, a nice sweater?”
Joseph stays close to him as he replies “I’d offer to trade, but I’m not sure any of my clothes could survive that broad chest.” He ghosts his fingers across Barclays shirt, “Though it could be fun to see them try.”
The walk to the gate isn’t nearly long enough, and he blushes when Joseph once again thanks him profusely for his help and his company. The walk back, however, feels like an eternity, one that gives him time to doubt the other man had any interest in him at all.
But all that evaporates when he gets home. Because sitting on the table is a slip of paper with a phone number and a short message.
For arranging dog playdates. And dinner next Friday if you’re interested.
-Joseph
And sitting just below the message is a small, precisely drawn heart.

Basic Dog Commands - Training a Puppy
All things in life need to grow and develop. This applies to our relationships as well. This also applies to our relationships with our dogs. Whether you just got your furry best friend and want to plant the seeds of a harmonious long-term friendship, or you have been living together for a while, and want to take your relationship to the next level, we all need guidance sometimes. And just like you would go to a specialist if you wanted more out of your relationship with your partner, you would go to a... dog training school if you needed to work on your relationship with your dog.
The question is, how do you find a good specialist? Now, if you were just feeling under the weather, you would probably go to a general practitioner. But what if you had a toothache? I bet you would go to a dentist instead! Same with dog training. First, you need to decide whether you want to work on general obedience, aggression, separation anxiety, or maybe you want to take on therapy dog training or a protection dog training course. And then you got to read on because we created a list of local hidden gems in San Diego area that specialize in exactly the kind of dog training classes you want!
Now, what types of dog training schools are we going to look at exactly?
Dog Obedience Training
Aggressive Dog Training
Protection Dog Training or Guard Dog Training
Behavior Modification Dog Training - Dog Separation Anxiety Training
Therapy Dog Training
Service Dog Training
We will also take a look at such training types as a dog training camp, group classes, in home dog training and online dog training.
All of these gems have 5-star ratings on Yelp, tons of happy clients and they are local, oftentimes family-owned businesses, so you can make great friends among your neighbors while doing some training as well!
First things first, there are plenty of options out there in regards to dog training. How do you know which one is good for you? Here are 6 tips.
6 Tips For Picking the Right Dog Training School
1. Know That the Dog Training Industry is Unregulated
That means that virtually anyone could call him or herself a trainer, sadly. However, there are certifications and organizations that can help you identify those who actually have the right designations and experience. Always check to see if the trainer has some of the following certifications: The Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT), The Academy for Dog Trainers (ADT), the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CPDT KA), the Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training & Behavior (KPAATB), or the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants. Being the primary educational organization for trainers, APDT has a very useful resource called Trainer Search that allows you to find trainers in your area based on your city or zip code. Great tool! Note that if a trainer is certified by the APDT it does not necessarily imply that he or she uses a specific training method, which brings us to the next tip.
2. Know the Training Methods Used
Now, all trainers have different training methods, but here are a few basic things that would help you swim confidently in the sea of trainer jargon. There are currently 4 basic methods of training that stem from behavioral psychology: positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement, positive punishment and negative punishment. Now, the words positive and negative aren't representing the concept of "good and evil" here, they function more like they would in math, with positive meaning addition and negative meaning subtraction of something. It will become clearer in a second.
Positive Reinforcement
This is the most popular method today, and, sure enough, you are all familiar with it. Positive reinforcement has, at its core, rewarding a dog for desired behavior usually with a treat, a toy or play time, depending on what motivates your dog the most. The trick is to pick the right timing: just as your dog does the desired behavior, reward him or her right away, and supplement the treat with a high-pitched "good dog", to make sure your pet realizes how pleased you are with this behavior. See how a treat is added here? This is the positive part, the addition.
Negative Reinforcement
This technique involves taking something unpleasant away to reinforce the desired behavior. That is how electric fences work, for example. When a dog gets too close to the perimeter, it gets a shock, but the shock disappears the moment the dog moves away from the boundary. This way, the dog learns to stay away from the perimeter. See the subtraction here - the unpleasant sensations are taken away to reinforce a behavior, this is negative reinforcement.
Positive Punishment
With punishment techniques, the trainer is trying to make a particular behavior happen less often. With positive punishment, the trainer adds some unpleasant stimuli to discourage a behavior. With excessive barking, for example, a trainer can add a spray bark collar to the training, so that every time a dog barks, it gets sprayed. The dog will associate nuisance barking with being sprayed, and this will discourage him or her from barking all night long again. Did you see how with this technique a trainer would add (=positive) something to discourage a behavior (=punishment).
Negative Punishment
This technique implies taking something away (=negative) in order to discourage a behavior (=punishment). A good example would be if a trainer turns away from a dog that is jumping on him or other people to get attention. He takes the attention away from the dog to discourage undesired behavior. This method is often used together with positive reinforcement to reduce the unwanted behavior and reinforce the desired behavior.
Ah, that was quite a bit of information, right? Did it become somewhat clearer what the different training methods do? Great. There is still much debate around the best training methods in the trainers' world, but what you choose remains up to you.
Now that you've learnt more about the behavioral psychology, do you start seeing some similarities between how we train dogs and how the government trains us? On to the next tip.
3. Choose the Training Type
Group Classes, Boot Camps, In House Training or even Skype chats - there is every type of dog training you might need under the sun. Consider the benefits and drawbacks. With in house dog training the obvious advantage is that you will get more personal attention. If your dog has some socialization issues, in home training won't be as effective as group dog training classes, where both you and your fido can learn to be around other dogs and work around so many tempting distractions. If you want your dog to get the experience of a full immersion, then a dog training camp will be the best option. Whereas, if your budget is tight, online dog training might be the solution you are looking for. Deciding on the type of training you need will make the task of finding a good dog training school way easier.
4. Watch a Class Before You Sign Up
Once you picked a class or a training school, take some time to come to one of the training sessions and just observe. Pay attention to the following:
How big is the class size and whether you will be getting enough attention,
If puppies and adult dogs are trained separately,
How many levels do the classes have (basic, intermediate, advanced),
How the trainer interacts with the dogs,
How dogs react to the training,
Whether everyone seems to be having fun and enjoying the process.
If you ticked all the checkboxes here, and are comfortable with the environment, you have found a good candidate.
5. Don't Forget About Vaccinations
Safety first! Make sure your dog is properly vaccinated before you start any dog training and get the green light from your vet. Next, ensure that the training school requires every dog to be vaccinated and is asking for a proof. This way you can rest assured that the safety aspect of your training is covered.
6. Ask About the Follow Up
Now, what happens after you have completed the course? Do you get a lifetime membership and can come any time for future "tune ups", or are follow up visits limited? Maybe there are no follow up visits in case a problem does arise. Make sure to ask the school or the trainer about what happens once you are done with their program.
Great, you are all set for the dog training school of your dreams. Now, we are introducing you to the 10 hidden gem schools with 5-star Yelp ratings that specialize in the type of dog training you are looking for. Go ahead and find the one for you!

Let's start with puppy training. The next stage at which pet owners often need assistance is the 6 months mark, when pups transition into adolescence, and this time is much like the teenage years we've all been through - rough. "Today it occurred to me I could murder someone, if you were with me. You make the old things fun again."
"I always thought violence didn't solve anything. Until one day it did."
"I love my puppy. I love that he is so young and full of life. And that he will still die first."
"I love you, but I don't love you enough to give up falling in love."
"Maybe the Earth would be better without us. Safe and clean and perfect, like a toy nobody ever played with."
"You are a good person and I love you. This just isn't the life I hoped I'd have."
"I wish I could just push a button to make you happy, when I feel like it."
"Sometimes I wish I was born a girl. I'd like makeup and pretty dresses, instead of just having this vagina."
"I used my one wish to make myself smarter. Smart enough to wish I was more kind."
"I wish there was a better word than 'sorry'. But then I'd probably need a better word than that."
"I know that I don't deserve you, but that's okay. Life's not fair."
"You are the love of my life so far."
"You make me want to pretend to be a better man."
"I finally developed a computer with feelings. It just doesn't have feelings for me."
"This town isn't big enough for the two of us. Let's run away together!"
"I know you don't love me, but there must be something I can do to make you a better person."
"You won't live forever in their memories. The way you treated them will."
"If you died, I would go through hell to bring you back. That would be easy. I'm not sure how to deal with us just drifting apart."
"Okay, now imagine I am falling in love with you. Can you picture it? Now picture it backwards."
"I never meant to hurt you. You have to believe me. I wasn't thinking about you at all."
"You were my everything, which, upon reflection, was probably the problem."
"I would sell my soul for a soul worth keeping."
"I don't believe each person has just one true love, but sometimes we don't have enough time to find another."
"You are never so low that you deserve to be lower."
"I'm the best at what I do, and what I do is think about my mistakes."
"The worst person you can think of gets scared sometimes, too."
"Do you ever get the feeling that God has a plan? And you're the only one who can stop it?"
"The more things change, the more you still don't love me anymore."
"I think up ciphers to trace onto your skin, because it doesn't feel safe to just say I love you."
"When I look at you, I can't help but think Hell must be missing an angel."
"You don't love me, but you used to. I wanted to say thank you for that."
"The terrible things that happened to you didn't make you you. You always were."
"When I look at you, all I can see are the mistakes we are going to make."
"I wish being a good person could erase the bad things I've done."
"You aren't really a good person, but god damn you make bad look awesome."
"I don't know how to make things right. So I'll just keep pretending that nothing's wrong."
"I wish I'd never met you, so I can meet you again."
"I can only infer that love exists from its effects on others. I know I want love, but I have no idea who will make me happy. Emptiness doesn't know its own shape. I do not believe in love at first sight. But god damn. There are so many first kisses in the movies. But if they had ever kissed you, they wouldn't dare. Waking up next to you is like other people go to sleep in and keep dreaming. When the world ends the sea will boil, the skies will turn to ash in the lungs of everyone who isn't safe in your area. Good just keeps going and going, until it seems more like 'okay'. I can't remember our first kiss. Was this really all it was? Nothing can change the way I feel about you. I wish it could. For a long time I thought that I deserved better, but the truth is we both deserve better than this. I wish there was a word that meant 'goodbye' for someone who was already gone. I don't want a world without pain or loss. I just want them to mean something."
"I'm in love with the you I wish you were. I only stay with you because you look like him."
"Just once I'd like to fall in love with someone who will ruin things before I do."
"Hello, what is your return policy on animals? I think this dog you sold me knows what I did."
"I would never hurt another human being, for free."
"Sometimes I want to ruin my whole life so I can start over without feeling guilty."
"The only thing we leave behind when we die is fear."
"I wrote you a love-poem computer virus, that self replicates and mutates and lives for your smile."
"All I want for Christmas is you to still be alive."
"If I ever get murdered, don't tell the cops a goddamn thing. It's what I would've wanted."
"I like to secretly alter my friends' diaries and put in ghosts, visions, happiness."
"I know my mom loved me. It's called Domestic Stockholm Syndrome."
"Your touch brings me to life. Not like Frankenstein, like HAL."
"I want to carve our initials in the bark of everyone who ever hurt you."
"I'd love you more if you were someone who could love me."
