1.

The Doctor slammed the door behind you, the booming footsteps of the Cybermen closing in. 

“What’s the plan?” You asked, slightly breathless from running. 

The Doctor didn’t know what to say. He didn’t have a plan. He couldn’t think of a single way out of this situation. 

He had told you traveling with him was dangerous, but you always insisted on coming. The only thing he could do was promise to keep you safe. To keep you alive, no matter the cost. 

As the footsteps neared, he began to fear he couldn’t keep his promise. 

“Doctor?”

He hoped his eyes didn’t show the panic he was feeling inside. 

“Do we have a plan?”

He shook his head, squeezing his eyes shut. A small part of him hoped it might shut everything out. 

The Cybermen neared your hideout, their metal fists banging on the wooden doors. Between the thick wood and the metal lock, the two of you had minutes at best. 

“The Cybermen are all connected through a network, correct?”

The Doctor opened his eyes, looking at you in confusion. 

“And if I can get into that network…” you scanned the room quickly, your eyes instantly settling on a computer. 

“It’ll be practically impossible,” the Doctor argued.

“They could have it under lock and key, and there would still be a way to break into it.” You smiled. “You just have to know what you’re doing.”

The Doctor watched in awe as your fingers danced across the keyboard, typing endless strings of characters that he couldn’t understand. 

“See, I already hacked into the database,” you leaned closer to the computer, absentmindedly chewing on your bottom lip. The Doctor tried not to let his eyes linger on your lips too much. 

“I just need to hack into the executive level.” You turned to look at the Doctor. 

He couldn’t think what you would need him for. You knew how computers worked, he didn’t really. 

Silently, you held out your hand. 

Confused, the Doctor took it. He wasn’t complaining. Your hands were soft and warm. He’d make any excuse to hold them. 

You laughed, the sound like music to his ears.

“No, silly.”

The Doctor blushed, but he didn’t remove his hand from yours. 

“I need the sonic,” you explained. 

Embarrassed, he slid the object into your hands. 

You handled the sonic with expertise. The Doctor didn’t think you had been listening all of those times he rambled on about the machine. 

Sure enough, you flicked to the correct settings in a matter of seconds. Using it appeared to be second nature to you. 

“Done!” You clapped your hands excitedly. Sure enough, the commotion outside the door halted, silence settling between the two of you. 

The Doctor’s eyes darted between the door and you, trying to process what had just happened. 

Once he did, he wasted no time scooping you into his arms. 

You laughed and wrapped your arms around his neck happily. 

The Doctor was practically buzzing with joy. He swung you gently from side to side as he hugged you, your feet dangling from the ground.

He didn’t want to let you go. 

“Brilliant!” He grinned, “You’re brilliant!” 

He pulled back slightly, planting a firm kiss on your forehead. 

In the end, you didn’t need him to save you. You could more than do that yourself. 

2. 

The Doctor was plagued with thoughts. Endless, troublesome thoughts swirled about his head. 

Almost nothing was certain. Except for one truth the Doctor held close to his heart. At the end of the day, it was just him. 

The last of the Time Lords. Floating through time and space, alone. 

Always alone. 

In his head, it was only a matter of time before you left. No one ever really stayed. Be it sickness, life, love, or fear, his companions always left him. 

He raked his hands across his face, hoping the action could silence the incessant chatter in his head. 

Truthfully, he didn’t have the strength to fight it off today. Why even bother? 

You bounded into the control room, a smile plastered across your face. You had a way of bringing light into any room. Most days, it was impossible for the Doctor to be upset in your presence. Today it was just too much for the alien to handle on his own. 

He tried to hide his hurt, plastering a sad smile on his own face. 

“What’s wrong?” You asked, catching on instantly. 

“I’m fine,” he lied. 

You frowned, not falling for his lie. 

His hands clutched the console, his knuckles white from the force. Gently, you ghosted your fingers across his hand. Convinced he wasn’t going to run away, you placed your hands over his. Almost instantly they eased up, suddenly aware of the force in which he was clutching the console. 

“What’s going on up there?” you asked, your gentle hands moving to cup his face. You gave his head a light wiggle, the action causing the corners of the Doctor’s mouth to curve upwards. 

“How long are you going to stay with me?” He whispered, almost too scared to say the words aloud. 

You furrowed your brows, not out of anger, but rather confusion. 

“I’m not going anywhere.” You smiled, your thumbs rubbing circles against his cheeks softly. 

The Doctor didn’t really believe you. They never wanted to leave, until they did. Perhaps you were happy at the moment, but that wasn’t going to last. 

He forced himself to pull away from your grip. The sooner he let you go, the less it was going to hurt. At least, that’s what he told himself. 

“Doctor?” 

You grabbed the sleeve of his coat, tugging lightly. The Doctor closed his eyes, trying to demonstrate some level of self-restraint. You weren’t making it easy. 

Without warning, you wrapped your arms firmly around the man. Your grip was unwavering, your hands clutching at his clothes desperately. 

The Doctor was taken aback at first, unsure what to do. Eventually, he relaxed into the hug. Giving in, he allowed his arms to wrap around you, pulling you closer to him. If he had it his way, he would stay like this forever. 

“I don’t ever want to leave,” you gasped, your breath hot against his neck. You buried your face in his shoulder, attempting to get as close as possible. 

For a second, the Doctor allowed himself to think that you might feel even a fraction of the way he felt about you. 

“Yeah?” 

“Yeah,” you beamed, pulling back to look at the Doctor. 

Your eyes were mesmerizing up close. Their color glistened in the TARDIS light, and he found it impossible to look away. 

“You can’t get rid of me that easy, Spaceman,” you laughed.

“The name’s Captain Jack Harkness,” The dashing man in front of you smiled, holding out his hand confidently. 

You took it warily, exchanging your own name awkwardly. You didn’t exactly share the Captain’s confidence. His smile clearly had you flabbergasted, a scarlet flush creeping onto your cheeks.

He flashed you an overly cocky grin, his hold on your hand unwavering. 

“Stop it,” the Doctor growled from behind you. 

“I’m just saying hello,” Jack said innocently, practically batting his eyelashes.

“It’s never just hello with you,” the Doctor continued groaning. He was used to Jack’s antics, the man flirted with anything that moved. He usually had no issue with it. That was, until the flirting was directed at you. 

“I don’t mind,” you grinned, looking up at the Captain sheepishly. You seemed to get lost in his eyes. From the Doctor’s point of view, you practically had heart eyes bursting from your head. 

Jack smiled back, charming as ever. His eyes traveled across your face, taking in each and every feature. 

“You’re gorgeous,” he whispered. 

You let out a nervous giggle, clearly taken aback by the compliment. Had the Doctor never called you that before? He was almost certain he had. You had never reacted that way when he did.

“T-thank you,” you stammered. It was clear to just about anyone that you were interested in the Captain. Between the way you looked at him and the bright red of your face, you were practically screaming it. 

It drove the Doctor crazy. He couldn’t express how badly he wanted you to look at him like that. Yet here you were, ogling over none other than Captain Jack Harkness. 

“Do you want to grab coffee?” Jack asked, his words pulling the Doctor from his thoughts. 

The Doctor had to suppress a scoff. Of course, the captain was asking you out at a time like this. The world could be crumbling and he would shag the nearest complying individual. 

The Doctor didn’t want to think about you and Jack together. In fact, he didn’t like to think about you with anyone but him. Maybe it was selfish, but a small part of him wanted you all to himself. 

He didn’t stick around to hear your answer. It would only break his heart more to hear you say yes. 

Unfortunately, the Doctor didn’t know that you never said yes to the Captain. If he had stuck around, he would have found that out. 

4. 

Rage. 

That was the only thing coursing through the Doctor’s mind as he pointed the gun at the woman in front of him. Pure, unbridled rage. 

His hands shook as he cocked the gun, fully preparing himself to pull the trigger. He could do it. He had every means to take the woman’s life. 

“Doctor?” 

He didn’t need to move his gaze to know you were by his side. He could feel the gentle pull of your fingers on his coat. 

“Go back to the TARDIS,” he growled. 

“Doctor,” you repeated, hurt riddling your voice. 

He couldn’t bring himself to lower the gun, but at the same time, he couldn’t fire it either. 

The woman before him was an awful person. She had killed hundreds and didn't even feel a shred of remorse. Even further, he had killed your friend. He should kill her. You should want him to. But you didn't. 

“Doctor.” Your hand crept towards his. 

He shook his head. He wanted to scream, he wanted to cry. But instead, he just stood there. 

“She doesn't deserve this,” you pleaded, your hand closing around his own. 

“Yes she does,” he said, shakily. He wasn’t sure if he fully believed himself. 

“If you kill her, are you any better than her?” You asked, guiding the hand holding the gun away from the woman. 

The Doctor didn’t stop you, but he didn’t agree either. His eyes remained trained on the woman at his feet. 

You eased the gun from his hand and disarmed it before throwing it across the room. 

You took his face in your hands gently, pulling his gaze towards you. 

“You are better than this,” you reminded him. 

The Doctor was fighting back tears. It was all he could do to shake his head no. 

“Yes, you are,” you reiterated, resting your forehead against his. 

5. 

The TARDIS was cold. Realistically, it was the Doctor’s fault for breaking the heater. In his defense, he didn’t intend to. 

It wasn’t an issue for the Time Lord, temperature wasn’t really an issue for him. He could wear a suit in the desert or shorts in the winter, it didn’t really matter. 

You, however, were obviously cold. 

“Are you going to fix the heating?” you asked, clutching your arms for warmth. 

It wasn’t that he wanted you to suffer. Quite the contrary. He couldn’t figure out how to fix the heater. He just didn’t want to admit it. 

“If you go up the stairs and to the left, you’ll find yourself in the TARDIS closet,” he explained. 

“I hardly think an 18th-century dress that smells of mothballs is going to fix the heating.” 

The Doctor chuckled. 

“No, but there are sweaters and other normal clothes in there.”

While you went searching for something warm, the Doctor continued his banging under the TARDIS console. It shouldn’t be this hard to figure out. 

He sat cross-legged on the floor, his sleeves rolled up to his elbows. He ducked his head downwards so he could read the book that lay open on the floor. 

“How to fix your spaceship at home!” wasn’t much help at the moment. He slammed the book shut and resumed his pointless banging. He was probably doing more harm than good, but he figured if he hit enough stuff the ship would fix itself. 

The TARDIS groaned in protest. 

“I think this will work,” you interrupted, walking back into the control room. 

You were rolling the sleeves of a green sweater up so you could use your hands. 

His green sweater. 

“It doesn’t smell like mothballs!” You jested. 

The Doctor turned his gaze away from you, hoping you wouldn’t notice the bright red color creeping into his cheeks. 

“It actually smells a bit like leather and sweets,” you continued, smelling the sleeve.

“That used to be mine.” 

“Yours?” You asked, almost as if you were shocked. 

“Well, it didn’t belong to this face,” he shrugged. 

“But it was yours.” 

“Yeah.” The red was taking over his face now. There was no way you hadn’t noticed. 

“You can have it back,” you said, interpreting his silence for displeasure. 

“No! I don’t wear stuff like that anymore. You can have it,” he rambled, scratching the back of his head anxiously. He wanted to say so many other things. How you looked infinitely better in it than he ever did and how happy it made him to see you in his sweater. 

“Thank you!” you grinned before bounding back down the hallway. 

The Doctor smiled to himself. He’d completely forgotten about the heating. All he could think about was how much he liked you in his clothes. 

The one time he did something about it.

You threw the doors of the TARDIS open, rushing into the open field. 

“It’s beautiful!” You laughed as you danced through the tall sapphire grass. You stopped to examine every strange and new plant littered throughout the meadow, encountering each with a new kind of enthusiasm.

The biome in front of him could be the most magnificent thing ever, and he would still be looking at you. Especially when you were this happy. 

You bounced around the meadow, picking up flowers you liked as the Doctor followed behind you. 

You rambled on about your day happily as you moved about. You were more than content to just be in the Doctor’s company without an imminent threat looming over you. 

He stopped your ramblings suddenly with an utterance of your name. 

“Yes?” You asked, wide-eyed. 

“I love you,” he whispered. He couldn’t hold it in anymore.

Wide-eyed, you blinked at him. 

“Please say something,” he said, pained.

You remained silent, still processing the Time Lord’s words. 

The Doctor began to panic. Thoughts tumbled about his head, doubt seeping into his mind. 

Then, without warning, you dropped your flowers and threw yourself into the Doctor’s arms. 

He fell over from the force, landing in the cushion of the plush foliage. 

“I’m sorry,” you laughed, a grin taking over your face. 

“There’s nothing to be sorry for.”

The Doctor brushed a stay strand of hair from your face, tucking it gently behind your ear. Color flushed into your cheeks from the simple action.

His eyes darted between your eyes and your mouth, silently asking permission to kiss him. You nodded your head lightly, inviting him to do so. 

Slowly, he brought his lips to yours. You smiled against his kiss, relishing in the warmth. 

When he pulled away, you pulled him back. Plastering a series of kisses against his mouth, you demanded his attention. 

This made the Doctor laugh, his arms snaking comfortably around your waist, truly securing you against himself. 

You drifted from his lips to his cheek, planting one final kiss there. 

“You love me!” you laughed, poking him playfully. 

“I do,” He laughed, resting his hand against your cheek.  You leaned into his touch, closing your eyes in tranquility. 

“I love you too,” you whispered against his palm, your breath warm on his hand. 

Truthfully, that was all the Doctor could have ever asked for.

Regarding the Sonic Generations changes, Amy fans in particular have been getting so upset about them. I personally don't care about things like Amy's character bio no longer mentioning her crush on Sonic because it's something that goes without saying. Ask anyone what they know about Amy Rose and they'll say "She loves Sonic". In Sonic CD, Amy's first appearance, before we learn anything else about her, she's constantly following Sonic and clinging onto him. Loving Sonic was her purpose for existence and it's what she'll always be known for. Making a female character for the sole purpose of being obsessed with a male character and having that be her only trait in her first appearance was certainly...a decision.

I think Sega kind of shot themselves in the foot here. This is different from, say, Princess Peach because being a damsel in distress isn't a personality, but something that happens to a character. Even though Peach was a damsel for decades, Nintendo still had the opportunity to give her interesting traits and allow her to grow out of the damsel role. It would be one thing if Amy was just a damsel in her first appearance, but she was also hindered by the fact that Sega made loving Sonic her defining personality trait on top of that. So if Amy's crush isn't at the forefront of her character 24/7 and Sega tries to explore other aspects of her personality, fans proceed to get pissed. As a result, the things Amy can do in a given plotline is limited because fans don't want her to do anything if it doesn't circle back to her infatuation with Sonic.

Some fans claim nothing was wrong in the first place and Amy's over-the-top clinginess to Sonic made their dynamic unique and interesting, but I beg to differ. It being "unique" doesn't translate to being "good" and many people found this behavior creepy and boundary-pushing instead of cute. The "girl obsessively chases after guy" trope may have been novel in the 90s, but it's practically a tired cliche in this day and age, and these characters archetypes are almost always never liked. In most cases, these characters are intentionally made to be unlikable (Panini from Chowder, Tootie from Fairly Odd Parents, Sierra from Total Drama Island) but Amy is a character that we're supposed to like. She reuinited a bird with its family and managed to convince Shadow to save the planet. She's a hero, but those moments of heroism were few and far between and vastly overshadowed by her obsession with Sonic. Not to mention that people are more likely to side with Sonic's viewpoint simply by virtue of him being the main character, so if he's shown to think Amy is just some weird girl, then most of the audience will too and not bother looking any deeper into her character. The main female character having that sort of reputation isn't a good look. They had to make some changes.

The thing is, Amy has demonstrated her love for Sonic so much that she doesn't even need to say anything for people to know. I'm fine with Amy's crush no longer being her main character trait. I can't help but roll my eyes when fans act like focusing on other aspects of her character is some egregious offense. Also, fans stupidly calling the changes "censoring" (which it's not) has caught the attention of right-wing grifters on YouTube and Twitter, causing them to freak out about Sega "g0inG WOKE! 😡" and all the other typical nonsense. So thanks for that.

An In-Depth Analysis of Sonilver in Sonic 06 (with some other media sprinkled in)

Sonilver is a pairing very near and dear to my heart, but exclusively when it comes to their “rival era” of sorts. (Aka earlier iterations of Silver, primarily Sonic 06)

I believe that they shine best when they have their own goals and either 1: clash heads or 2: team up, depending on if their goals align or not. But we’ll get to that in more detail later. Let’s get to it, shall we?

There’s a real irony to their dynamic in this game that I’ve never seen discussed online before. As we all know, Sonic is pretty much the main force or “bringer” of justice in the Sonic universe. I’ll go into more detail about Sonic himself at a later date, but regardless the universe would probably be utterly fucked without the blue blur.

Silver has no prior knowledge of Sonic’s achievements or ideals because he’s from 200 years in the future, and Sonic would be long-gone at that point. (In any canonical sense at least) All he knows about the guy is what Mephiles has told him, that he’s the Iblis Trigger who must be killed to restore peace to his future. Silver then convinces himself it’s okay to kill Sonic because it will bring the justice that his future deserves, even if he has to kill a man (hedgehog) to do it. Ironic, huh? Silver must kill the blinding blue light of justice himself to get the justice he wants for his future.

Even as he meets Sonic in person and gets glimpses of his true nature, (through his own confrontations with Sonic and his allies that defend him) he doubles down and gets more aggressive, believing he MUST be right.

I believe Silver’s sense of pride and stubbornness tends to get overlooked and people instead cling onto the term Naive like a lifeboat, but that’s for another time.

When Silver learns the true story of Mephile’s deceit and Sonic’s nature, that pride and stubbornness prevents him from a proper apology, and he instead pulls the “Circumstances have changed” card. (I love that aspect of his character by the way)

Sonic isn’t the kind of guy to hold grudges, so he quickly forgives him and they become allies. Despite my love for their rivalry, I think this shift to allies works well in 06. Their mutual respect and Silver taking the initiative to carry on when Sonic “dies” is really heartwarming and contrasts well with their earlier interactions. Now, since this is Sonic 06, none of this actually happened technically, and they forget about they had ever met. The angst is real and I love it!

Maybe I’ll go more in depth with the Sonic Rivals series at a later date but I’ll give the basics to further my point. Sonic rivals continues their rivalry (hence the name) and has them meet again having no prior knowledge of eachother. The two butt heads as they both try to find Eggman Nega individually, but they eventually set aside their differences and work together when it suits the situation best.

The same thing happens in Sonic Rivals 2 despite their prior team up and their rivalry becomes more competitive than antagonistic. I think this shift between rival or allies depending on the situation is the pinnacle of Sonilver (as is any other pairing in Sonadilver). It highlights their individual ideals and goals while also showing their similarities and sheer ability to thrive as a team.

Unfortunately as the years have gone by their rivalry has been watered down to a more palatable allyship with some occasionally teasing. This is mostly due to IDW, but I’ll be here for hours if I discuss all my gripes with that comic series.

Instead, I’ll just say that while I find the teasing endearing, I missed their initial resolve to solve things on their own before working together when they must. I just feel like there’s a lot more flavor and intrigue to that angle that compliments both of their characters better. Regardless, there’s nothing I can do about that. I’ll just continue to wish for my Sonilver beef on a silver platter without an expectation of change.

Now you may be asking, okay we get it. They have a cool dynamic, but how do you think a romance between the two would play out? You see, the funny thing is that I don’t want them to become romantic. Sure they might have some hidden not so platonic feelings that they will continue to suppress for eternity (I’m more a queerplatonic shipper myself) , but to try to force them into the standard romantic relationship would absolutely destroy what makes their dynamic so interesting in the first place.

Of course, if you do enjoy romantic Sonilver all the power to ya’, (Sonic and Silver characterizations are so consistent from game to game anyways that it’s nearly impossible to be wrong.) but I personally just don’t see the appeal of putting them in that sort of relationship considering the dynamic I enjoy best.

Kyle: So this time, for Pride Month, we get to address the hypothetical fandom ship that's probably helped more than a few Sonic fans figure out their sexuality: Sonadow! A lot of straight fans probably had Rouge or Sally be their awakening, so don't throw stones. 

Ian: True, true. 

Kyle: Shadow is not quite in a place where it's easy to imagine him having a healthy romantic relationship. But it is honestly a bit problematic to have one character shift until they're suitable for another, unless it's a mutual situation. How would you execute the character growth for Shadow and Sonic that would most help enable Sonadow? 

Ian: There would have to be an understood vulnerability to Shadow, he would have to open up to a degree that makes him more accessible at a personal level, and it doesn't take much? We've seen hints of it throughout his appearances, it would just need to become established, and that I think is all you really need to build that bridge because Sonic is casual and accepting enough as he is, and he's going to allow Shadow to be who he is which is kind of prickly and standoffish as you would have that occasional moment where Shadow lets his guard down and is more empathetic or emotionally available. But otherwise they would both play it fairly cool and aloof I think (lol). 

Kyle: Yeah, they're together. What of it? So? Big deal. I like it.  There are obviously a lot of different popular ships in Sonic. In order to make one really stand out, you'd probably need to really spark intrigue on it before pushing the two characters together. How would you arrange the first key romantic spark that was intended to drive the fans towards wanting them together? 

Ian: I think it stems more from the characters already having good chemistry. I mean you look at the fandom in general and the fleet of ships that are sailing and all of them are based off of the fact that these characters are fun in their interactions regardless of who we're talking about. So if it were an intention of building something from scratch, for most of the Sonic cast, I think the work's already been done and there's already a great deal of trust and mutual respect between most of the characters. It would just be a matter of realizing that there is more than respect, there's more than kinship, there's a romantic affinity, and for one of those characters to make that realization and start to pursue it in their own particular way.  And then it becomes a question of well, is the object of their affection going to reciprocate? And if they don't, which leads to an interesting story of, now that they are on this path, yeah, they know that this is an option, do they come around to it? Or do they not? Are both characters kind of interested but they don't want to take that first step and so you have that carrot on a stick that is ever so effective for however long you want to run it? 

(laughing) 

Kyle: There's nothing that gets, uh, Sonic's motor running more than being called a faker. Apparently. 

(more laughing) 

Ian: Oh, he'll show you how real he is. 

Kyle: Oh, no! This is a family show, sir!

With that idea fresh in our minds, how would you make it official for the two of them? 

Ian: God, if that ever came to pass. (lol) 

Kyle: I feel like it would have to be kind of like, understated? Like it would just kind of happen? 

Ian: Yeah, I've, they're both so cool and aloof in their own way, I don't see them making any kind of dramatic declaration or ... suddenly turning all mushy and lovey-dovey, it's not who they are. Um ... I, you know, the adventure concludes and they're standing side by side on the hillside looking at the sunset and the wreckage ... and they share, you know, a compliment, and instead of like a fist bump or a "see you next time" and, y'know, one of them runs off ... maybe they throw arms around each other or something and just kind of stand there. Again, they're not gonna be all "mweh mehmehmeh" ... tonsil action, it's, I see them being very chill about it all. 

(lol) 

Kyle: Also, keep in mind everyone, this is all just ... 'fan ideas', this is probably never gonna happen, it's very unlikely, we're just having fun here. 

Ian: It's hypothetical situations that I am approaching as reasonably and as authentically as I can. 

Kyle: Yes, yes, just to keep that in mind, just keeping everybody on the same page here. 

Ian: I am not endorsing, I am not unendorsing, 

I am just answering questions. Everybody simmer. 

Kyle: Let's assume that for whatever reason Shadow decided to seek out advice from the following, and whoever he asked has to answer with an honest attempt at the best advice they could offer. How would Professor Gerald, Dr. Eggman, the Commander, and Black Doom advise him? 

Ian: Gerald would be the most wholesome and effective, I think. I think he understands people better than ... certainly a lot of his family. Uh, and would advise Shadow to look inward to ask himself what he really wants, and to ruminate on that and then act with caution, you know, don't be hasty on this particular thing. Like all great research, it takes time to get the results that, you know, you want, or the results that will come to be - don't take anything as a given, but don't be afraid to pursue the truth, whatever that may be.  Eggman would scoff at the notion and, you know, sarcastically offer to set him up on a date, making it quite clear that it would all be a trap and an ambush and whatever. The Commander ... I don't see as being a very romantic individual, but I think he might be direct about that, right. He would say that his partner was someone he managed to find for himself, but that was largely thanks to her, and her efforts, because he was kind of clueless about this, but Shadow is also kind of in the same boat so you know, maybe ... at least be aware of your surroundings? If someone is prepared to make that gesture, be ... ready to receive it and understand it for what it is. How do you do that? He's not quite sure how he figured it out himself but you know, he's not good at this sort of thing.  And Black Doom would again, scoff. Love is a weakness, it is a distraction at best, a malady at worst, it is ... an affliction of the mind. An illusion created by inferior beings to facilitate necessary natural processes. You do not need love, you do not need anyone, you are my Ultimate Weapon now go get me them Chaos Emeralds. 

Kyle: (laughing) Those damn fourth Chaos Emeralds! They're all fourth!

Ian: (mimicking Black Doom) Honestly, Shadow, what's love got to do, got to do with it. What's love but a second hand emotion. 

Kyle: (laughing) Well, we all know Shadow can't resist a dying wish. Let's say in the aftermath of a terrifying evil scheme, Eggman once more had to team up with the heroes to save the world, but he died in the process, leaving Sage and her brothers in the care of his uncle and uncle-in-law. Assuming that if money were real, GUN would pay the kind of money that would keep a classy act like Rouge on staff so the boys don't need to change their heroics too much, how would they do as parents to Sage, Orbot, Cubot, and after a while if she so chose, potentially Belle?

Ian: I'm a little lost in the wording on who is acting as surrogate parents here.

Kyle: I think it might supposed to be Sonic and Shadow ... but Rouge is also there? I think? 

Ian: Well I mean someone would have to look after the kids because it ain't gonna be them. 

Kyle: (laughing) No, I guess not?!

Ian: I mean, Sonic would Sonic would kind of show up for birthdays and events and to check in but he's ... he's not the stay at home dad. He's not the stay in one place dad, he's the dad who gets his steps in, if you catch my meaning.

Kyle: Okay, no, it was more an example of they’re ... willing to pay Rouge ... so they would be willing to also pay them ... so ... but ... I guess Rouge would not be the caretaker. So ... they would have to be the caretakers ... I don't think it would go well! Luckily, I think they're self-sufficient ... for the most part ... (starting to lose it)

Ian: I mean I can't really see GUN letting them off ... interestingly, to anyone. They would be on facility. But it would be Sonic and Shadow weighing heavily saying they're not captives, they're not tech to be assimilated into the greater GUN network, they are wards of your facility, right? Right? Which again, Sonic would be checking in on occasion to make sure that it's going well. And maybe Shadow would kind of become a satellite agent of GUN, just keep tabs on everything, check in on the others to some degree ... but ... we wouldn't have a case of My Two Dads on this one, they're not the parental types.

Kyle: We probably shouldn't trust GUN with child care. Probably not. Even robot children.

Ian: And ... you don't even need them to be a pair to get the kind of ... bickering parental - conflicting parental guidelines in this scenario. Sonic would be very much, ehhh let them stay up, let him eat ice cream, let them do whatever they want, Shadow's like no, they need discipline, you're going to spoil them.

Kyle: Worst fathers ever.

Ian: Belle I ... I, again, I can't really see as a parental role but I could see her as the put upon babysitter. She tries her best to look after them and keep things under control but ... honestly ... they're Egg tech, they're not going to cooperate all that much.

Kyle: ... Yeah ... yeah I guess ... Belle would have to be the older sister and she'd probably end up being the one who does most of the work. Ugh.

Ian: Someone who tried to stop the caper of stealing the Commander's loafer or something. "I'm gonna get in trouble you guys! Stop!"

Kyle: Alright. Shadow is immortal, he will probably outlive Sonic. Unfortunately, given Sonic's lifestyle, that may not be that hard ... although given Shadow's first adventure, it could go either way. Sonic would probably understand that Shadow copes with things like this better when he has a sense of meaningful purpose to focus on. This seems like the type of thing Shadow would project onto his partner if it came to it, so what would each other ... so what if ... so what would each of their dying wishes to each other be?

Ian: Morbid. 

Kyle: (lol) 

Ian: You're going for the beautiful sadness type of thing I think. Uh, Sonic's would be ... what he wishes for everyone, is to be true to yourself and to live free. Perhaps that be true to yourself ringing a little more resoundly in Shadow's case, you know, don't close yourself off ... again. You know, be free to open up to someone else again down the road, and just be honest with yourself and be free to make that choice. 

Kyle: Open your heart, Shadow, it'll be alright.

(laughing)

Dammit! You would do that. 

Ian: Yeah, I absolutely would. 

(more laughing)

As for Shadow ... he would want Sonic to endure, you know, to just continue to carry on ... to not be defeated by anything. To find a way to escape death and just continue being, because, you know who else can replace him? Nobody. He would want that to endure forever.

Kyle: Yep. Good thing Sonic's got extra lives.

So Sonic and Shadow have gotten engaged, and they're trying to figure out how to approach their family name. Would Sonic take Shadow's last name, or Shadow take Sonic's, each keep their own, or each add the other's with a hyphen? Given Shadow's right to certain other last names, there could be a timeline with a Sonic Robotnik or (losing it) Sonic Doom.

Ian: No, they'd go with their current surnames, and as a sign of solidarity, they would just swap them so it would become Sonic the Hedgehog and Shadow the Hedgehog.

Kyle: Right, okay, okay ... good, good. Yeah, okay, it'll be fine, as long as Shadow doesn't take Maurice or something we'll be good.

(laughing)

Ian: We could hyphenate it! Sonic the Hedgehog-Hedgehog! (Shadow voice) Don't make me regret my decisions. 

Kyle: Too late, he already does. He already does.  Sonic has a great found family, and presumably in order to get Shadow to a point where he could date Sonic we'd be dealing with a much more Team Dark take on Shadow, who also has that. How would they both adapt to regularly hanging out with each other's found family? 

Ian: Uhhh ... The Sonic side of things is always very opening and it's ... open and accepting. And that's ... hilarious ... to the Team Dark side of things, because you can take such advantage of that. I think there would be attempts made on Team Sonic's side to incorporate everyone into the big happy family and eventually it would come to the understanding that, you know, there's appreciation ... there's respect, but there also needs to be distance. It's okay that they only get together for like, the holidays, and then they all keep to themselves. Nothing against anybody it's just, you know, oil and water don't necessarily mix all the time. And the time Rouge stole the Christmas presents ... Knuckles’s still a little salty about that one. 

Kyle: Aw. Poor Knuckles.  I play a lot of DnD with my boyfriend, he's big into it and happy to have another person for his DnD groups. Meanwhile I always enjoyed the little bit I got to play, but didn't get the opportunity as much in the past. It is unfortunately, for him, very much a ... forever DM for the group he has assembled. With this new little family we've assembled around the Sonadow pairing, who would be their forever DM? Omega is a war forged Barbarian, right? I mean yes. I mean ... you mean in the game? I mean he could be whatever he wants in the game, but in real life, yes.

Ian: I think you could make a case he's war forged Barbarian in every connotation of the word. 

Kyle: Pretty much! 

Ian: Uh ... I can't remember how we ... because I feel like this ties into just general DnD, we've been asked this before ... I would think Tails would be the DM. 

Kyle: Yeah ... yeah, Tails is the one who has the most, uh ... patience, I think, to really learn stuff. Amy maybe. 

Ian: Maybe ... I mean, he would like to construct the campaigns, he would be the better rules lawyer between the two of them. Um, I think he might be a little more of a stickler than Amy, I think Amy would allow for a little more rule of cool, but I don't think Tails would be obnoxious about it, you know. If you roll a one and things have gone very badly, he'd be trying to help you figure out a way around it. It's like, you know, okay, this is a bad situation! What do you see around you that could stop you from being on fire? Or, Amy! Don't you remember you have this particular Scroll of Healing or whatever? I - I haven't played DnD I don't know.

Kyle: I mean, yeah, that exists, it's fine, you got it. 

Ian: He wouldn't be a "rocks fall, everyone dies" DM, but he would be someone who's like, no, you can't fudge the numbers, you miss. "How do you mean I miss, I'm right in his face!" You rolled a two, what can I tell you! 

Kyle: He might think about "rocks fall, everyone dies" for a second, though, once again fed up - 

Ian Every turn, Omega's like "I KILL EVERYONE IN THE ROOM." Even the party? "YES." No, you can't do that! "IT IS IN CHARACTER." I don't care!!!!

Kyle: Oh man, yeah, I mean, I don't know how long it would take for him to get fed up with Monty Python references but ... (lol) Probably not very long. Uh, and it turns out Monty Python is an actual python comedian in their world, and ... (losing it again) I'm here for it. That'd be cool. Time for the coveted Digimon question! I don't know who's coveting the Digimon questions, but alright, I guess Twilord is. In Digimon, there's a concept of DNA digivolution, where two digimon can fuse together. Sometimes this phenomenon creates a mental link between the Tamers and lets them glimpse each other's thoughts and feelings. This admittedly varies a bit so you have a lot of creative freedom on your solution. Assume the two of them were closeted for lack of it having come up yet, from those whose Digimon starters you might've ... you might choose to have DNA digivolve with Sonic's or Shadow's partners ... which partners figure it out from the basic mental connection, and of them how would they handle knowing without being told? I'm assuming that ... like, they have not confessed their love for each other but they somehow use this to figure it out.

Ian: And really ... Digimon ... it's not asking about the Digimon themselves, it's acting as Sonic and Shadow are the trainers, right. 

Kyle: Right. 

Ian: Uh ... The hardest question of this is who is more obtuse between the two of them ... 

Kyle: (LMAO) Yes. That's the answer. 

Ian: Shadow ... in general ... might be a little quicker on the draw ... so he would make the realization and that might prompt him to ... open up ... whereas Sonic just already kind of took it as a given, it wasn't really a realization to him, so he didn't really think much of it. 

Kyle: I guess ... Yeah, I guess that kind of fits. I guess that fits. 

Ian: (Shadow voice) Once we were linked, I cam to a realization ... and well, now that I know it's reciprocated, I guess I can say I'm really into you.  (Sonic voice) Oh yeah, I already knew. 

Kyle: (laughing) Yeah, everyone's into me. No, no that's not what I mean - 

Ian: (Shadow voice) It means you don't have a romantic bone in your body. 

Kyle: (LOSING IT me too dude) I think the idea ... apparently .. I'm getting word that the idea behind this question was that they haven't told anyone yet, and their friends find out this way.

Ian: Yeah, I mean, if anything ... the biggest reaction would come out of Amy. There might be shock she found out ... Well, shocked at first, but if she found out, and they haven't really opened up to each other yet about it, she would go hardcore matchmaker.

Ian: Like, if they both feel that way, and they aren't being honest with their affections, ohhhh no no no, she will not let that stand. Nope. She will move heaven and earth to see love realized.

Ian: Disappointed, sure ... but, y'know, fine. What she wants is for him to be open and true with himself, and true with others. Love is a powerful force in the universe, and she will see its will done. 

Kyle: Yeah (lol), she is a true ally, yes. 

Ian: A real intense ally. 

Kyle: (laughing) Kind of frightening.

Ian: So in terms of romantic progression for fictional characters, you would say that after the romcom where the parents get home together in the sitcom where they all have to live their lives together ... can you please pitch me three episode ideas for the up and never coming sitcom, The Hedge Hogs, for me to rate?

Knuckles

Knuckles is very heavily Christ-coded - walking on water, resurrection, prophecies, the whole nine yards. Not necessarily Catholic specifically, but I feel like there’s a comparison to be made between the Brotherhood and the Catholic Church as a structure. Also he’s made it to the semi finals of the Christ coded tournament if that means anything to you

God this whole thing was literally insane. Also pretty much completely forgotten as soon as p*nders was off the comic, which was probably for the best tbh.

Ken penders did a lot of wierd fucking bullshit, and made knuckles literally Jesus.

In the Archie comics, Knuckles inherits the role of being a spiritual leader to a lost tribe of Echnidnas, that have been wandering, searching for their prophesied homeland for centuries. Knuckles is the one to finally lead them there.

He also dies and comes back, and because of this is hailed as the prophesied “Avatar” by his people, the one who’s supposed to bring peace to their planet, Mobius. Cannot for the life of me remember where this went though.

It maybe isn’t allegorical as much as it is the writer thinking putting Judeo-Christian themes would make it cool or something. But the comparison to Jesus is at least intentional, whereas it probably isn’t with Shadow.

I see him as a Christ-like figure because I saw his whole confrontation with Mephiles and was like “this is a thing that happened in the Bible??” and the pose Mephiles shows him in is literally like a crucifixion and Mephiles is meant to be a demon / false prophet reference. And also he’s called a demon in Shadow The Hedgehog 2005 then the guy who calls him that is like “I was wrong I’m sorry” and that also reminds me of a thing with Jesus in The Bible. But the biggest reason is his whole thing with Maria cause I think he’d come to earth and hear Ave Maria once and convert to Catholicism idk he’s like we’re comforted by a female familial figure named Mary sometimes called Maria?? Bake Me Please - I absolutely love the aesthetics of this show. They show off some of the most beautiful cakes and pastries and it's just gorgeous. After my rant today I think we all know the one thing I want, NEED, to see is Shin apologize to Peach. I cannot stand the idea of Peach bearing all the emotional work for this relationship.

Cherry Magic 30 - So I'm coming at this from a place of knowing nothing about the originals. I'm really enjoying Karan just in general, his thoughtfulness, his care, all of it. He reminds me of a quote from episode 3 of The Last of Us: "Paying attention to things is how we show love." I'm also really enjoying the importance the show is putting on consent as well as Achi's care to make sure he isn't taking advantage.

Last Twilight - You guys have seen my meta posts. I could wax poetic about this show all day long. Thus far I ADORE how they're treating Day's disability and showing how important him maintaining his agency is. I'm also really enjoying Mhok's perspective as a caretaker and the way he adapts and learns every day. I've been both - I'm currently disabled and I was a caretaker for five years. This show is so near and dear to my heart already.

I really hope we see what the hell is going on between Night and Day. Like, we have to, right?

Pit Babe - I'm an omegaverse bitch. I'm sorry, it's my guilty pleasure. One of the first things I do when I get the brainrot for something is go see if there are any good omegaverse fics (I'm very picky, we don't like misogyny or thinly veiled transphobia in this house, no thanks.) I'm enjoying seeing the worldbuilding of this show so far as well as each of the characters and their personalities. Everyone, even North and Sonic, feel like fully fleshed out people and I'm very much enjoying that.

Playboyy - BOY HOWDY. Listen, I'm mostly watching this to avoid FOMO. I'm asexual, the sex is doing nothing for me really. The wet noises make me scream and throw my headphones off. I AM enjoying the mystery aspect of the plot a lot, I'm very curious where that is going. I'm also very much enjoying the exploration of different sexualities, like the hints that Soong and Zouey might be demisexual.

Obviously I want to know what the fuck happened to Nant, but I also just want to see more Prom. Also wanna see Aob become soft for Puen.

The Sign - My absolute beloved. I'm obsessed, I'm going to be obsessed forever I fear. The mythology is just fucking superb, the yearning is incredible, the action is great, the friendships phenomenal. I could go on and on about everything I love about this show. It's everything to me and I know I'm going to be a WRECK when it inevitably ends.

I can't wait for Phaya and Tharn to fuck, sure, but I can't wait for them to be in love. I can't wait to see them hold each other gently, look for reassurances in each other, and I hope they each regain at least some memories of their past selves and maybe how much they loved each other.

In general, I think Forces would have done well if we'd seen the Resistance as a whole do more, or at least its core members. I feel quite uncertain about the idea that seven people with a collection of extremely powerful superpowers and weaponry plus a ton of manpower can only protect .1% of the world over six months, and then the two Sonics roll around and in three days Eggman has lost everything. It feels like it's doing the other characters in the cast a disservice, almost. We don't know how the war went, so we really cannot say if they immediately got overrun by Eggman or if they gradually lost terrain over six months' time. But still... Of course Sonic is powerful (as the main player character who always wins, he of course is always going to be more powerful in the end than whatever threat he faces), but the Resistance really could do nothing to win back a bit of terrain and protect it until the Sonics plus the Avatar ran through it once and destroyed some robots? (Hmm, one reason I'm willing to accept on this topic is that Sonic is supposed to be so inspiring to the populace, he gave them the strength to persevere where they could not before. After all, if the most powerful being on the planet is killed by Eggman, what chance do some commoners have to persevere against him? And if that being then comes back to life (sort of XD), it could be the push they needed. I like that idea, actually!)

The above kind of also ties in with the reason why I think six months is simply too long for such a story. There's so much that happened, both to the planet physically and (you would presume) everyone mentally: it's strange to me that afterwards things are immediately back to normal again and in the next game everyone is totes racing around with the guy who actively was destroying and terrorising their home for six months. Nobody, except for arguably Tails, seems particularly affected by that long time-span and the fact they thought Sonic was literally dead, and I feel like more could have been done on that topic. The story is dark and grandiose and epic without being willing to commit to the consequences the events should have, I would say. Except that immediately brings issues: diving into that comes at the risk of things getting melodramatic and overly edgy, which iirc is already a complaint against Forces to begin with, and the Sonic franchise also just plain isn't going to overtly deeply dive into such things, I feel like. The characters are meant to be ideals to marvel at and to be inspiring; obviously they're going to focus on making things right instead of angsting about Eggman's six-month regime in excruciating detail. Such things are hit or miss, and I think it suits the franchise to not even attempt to swing and see. (and during the times it does try, such as with the translation of Forces into English, people immediately point out how things like "Tails losing it" and "Sonic has been tortured for six months" feel very unfitting and don't even match what we see in the game after. But then again, the games have managed to handle dark topics like weapons of mass destruction in a proper way, I would say.) But I'd have to replay Forces and gather my thoughts on this topic more to describe my gripes with the story in much deeper detail, haha. I find it a very inspiring game and I always enjoy playing it because Sonic is so kind to the Avatar, but I do wish they'd tackled certain things differently.

Regardless, your ask did give me an idea about a story I could write between Silver and Espio, so I'll upload that to Tumblr in a sec! ^-^

So continuing on from my previous request let’s say reader and Xeno are just hanging out and somehow Sonic stumbled into Xeno’s dimension and he sees the reader next to Xeno and he freaks out because he thinks Reader is Amy so he runs up and grabs Reader trying to save them from Xeno and both Xeno and Reader are confused and shocked by what’s happening. So now we have Xenophanes and Sonic chasing after each other because of Sonic’s confusion.

Meanwhile Xeno’s puppets (Eggman, Tails and Knuckles.) are just watching the whole thing go down while Majin Sonic and Unused Sonic (His name is just Unused but yeah..) are just silently making jokes and laughing at Xeno.

Honestly I love the idea you just said that I started writing this as soon as I saw the request. Although it’s almost 5:00am where I am and I should be asleep right now I don’t care. Just imagine Sonic having an Amy moment when she accidentally confuses others like Shadow for him. Kind of ironic when you think about it. Anyways glad to hear your doing well and once again hope you enjoy reading this! ~Blaze/Dawn

- It’s been a while since you’ve met and eventually befriended Xenophane and you got to say you honestly don’t regret it. Pretty much after being ‘introduced’ to him by Fleetway you two have been attached to the hip. You even got to know his puppets which although at first they only got along with you because of Xeno eventually they did manage to genuinely get along with you outside of him.

- You even got to know some more of his ‘friends’ , for example people like Majin and Unused. Honestly you found the two of them interesting. It didn’t seem they did any harm yet they seemed to hang around people like Xeno. Just like the puppet gang they were actually decent to be around. Sometimes when you aren’t hanging out with Xeno or Fleetway you three like to have a get to gather and just talk. Kind of like the Unused and Majin Show (By Nominal Dingus on YouTube) just minus the talk show part.

- Surprisingly the two of them somehow don’t confuse you as Amy. Although they do see the resemblance just like Eggman they can distinguish the difference between you two. Plus they understand that you are your own person and understand that it can be annoying when you get compared to someone you aren’t. They respect that so they don’t do it.

- You’ve pretty much gotten used to hanging out with demented version of sonic and his friends as well as being one yourself you haven’t really had the chance to think about what would happen if you met the real deal. Although you couldn’t really care less if you met the actual Amy, however with someone like Xeno you severely doubt that he would be kind meeting the real Sonic or any of his friends. Considering what he did with his versions of Tails, Knuckles and Eggman, who knows what he would do with the actual characters from the hit game series. However, you were about to find out what would happen and although nothing too violent happened it was definitely funny at least to you and those who witnessed it.

- Somehow Sonic found himself in the universe that contains all of you. Not recognising where he was and wondering where his friends were he immediately went and looked trying his best to not get caught by whatever could hurt him. After looking around he stumbled between all of you hanging out. At first he was wondering who the hell all of you were but when he saw you his eyes immediately widened. Although you didn’t have that much of Amy’s appearance, he saw his friend's silhouette and automatically assumed that you were ‘Amy’. He didn’t want ‘Amy’ to get harmed by Xeno and the others so he figured he risked his life and save you.

+ As soon as Sonic saw his friend hanging out what looked like disturbing versions of him he let his emotions get the of him and placed a hand on your shoulder and pulled you back. At first you were confused at who the hell was pulling you back and it seemed like the others were as well. “Amy! Be careful!” Sonic said hugging you tight, keeping an eye on the others still not paying attention to you who clearly wasn’t Amy. “Who the hell are you? And why the hell are you grabbing onto them like that?” Xeno said slightly growling at Sonic like a goddamn dog seeing another dog. “I’m not letting you get close to her or harm her so back off”. Everyone including you just looked at Sonic. The puppet trio whispering to each other about their friend confusing you for Amy, wondering what Xeno may or may not do to him. Majin and Unused slightly chuckling to themselves, well mostly unused and Xeno preparing himself to attack Sonic.

+ “What do you mean? They aren’t going to attack me?” You said as you tried to remove Sonic’s arms around you “What are you talking about Amy can’t you see…” Sonic was about to explain how clearly dangerous the others looked, however he quickly stopped himself and took a minute to take in what you said. Why weren’t you worried about them? Then he finally decided to look at you directly. That’s when he finally realised that you weren’t Amy. Well at least not mentally and sort of physically. “Wait your aren’t…” he said slightly, stumbled back removing his arms from you. “Unfortunately I’m not your friend ‘Amy’ I’m [Name]” you explained yourself giving a shocked Sonic a smile. You can hear Unused letting out a slight snort trying to hold in his laughter as Xeno approached him. Sonic slightly chuckled to himself out of awkwardness and slowly tried to get away apologising before quickly running off with a slightly pissed off Xeno chasing after him. The rest of you pretty much just stood still watching this whole shit show go down. “Should…we stop him?” Majin spoke up suggesting how to stop Xeno from harming Sonic “Nah just let him do it” Unused waves Majin off slightly entertained with what’s happening right now “Yeah I agree, let’s at least let him get it out of his system before stopping” You added on trying your best to conceal the smirk appearing on your face.

How Rusty Rose Could Be Darker: Analysis Of A Rusted Rose

Alright, so I really want to talk about how the very concept of Rusty Rose could be even more messed up. So here's a post on our robotic queen <3

So you guys are wondering, how can the concept of one of the sweetest Sonic characters becoming nothing more than a robot of destruction, used for 5 dictators' purposes be darker than it already is?

Well, what if I presented the ideas of both lobotomy and body removal, not to mention the mental issues that Rusty has? Yep, we're going to explore that!

First let's speak about body removal, the easier one. Let's take a look at Rusty's design, shall we?

She has no real body parts save for her head, and only by a little. Her arms and legs have clearly been removed as well as the rest of her body, including her organs, which is horrifying. Even her hair is nothing more than a helmet.

This makes you think, well not ALL of her organs are removed, I mean she still has a heart right?

Well...

Yeah, It's not pleasant. She has a flicky in place of a heart which is horrifying, both for the implications that the flicky is being used as an energy source, and that Rusty shows no attachment to it. The only thing that has been saved is a side of her face. The rest of her is nothing but Robo limbs. It's seen in the pirate episodes that Rusty is also waterproof. And in the first two episodes, it's shown she's fireproof.

In fact, she doesn't even have her other eye, it's just a red dot now. Not to mention her emerald eye, her real eye, looks robotic as well.

Rusty isn't human anymore. She lost that to the Council, who use her as a tool. Which makes me all the more curious about what the hell happened to make Rusty this way? What made her decide to damage herself to become a killer cyborg?

We probably won't find out until season 2, so I'm just going to go on to my next point.

Lobotomy.

Now I know some of you are saying that what Rusty does is in code, but wouldn't they have to get to her brain in order to do that? Not to mention, Rusty can be programmed to change sides without question. And when that happens her red dot turns to yellow, which is probably just because Nine was the one in control with his signature color of yellow.

Rusty doesn't act like the Amy we know, she's cold, apathetic, and robotic. But Rusty shows emotions, but it's just barely expressed. Most of the time she has a stoic frown on her face.

The effects of lobotomy are a change in the subject's personality, emotions, empathy, and ability to function on their own. However, a long-term side effect is a mental dullness.

Lobotomy is a process where the subjects (I'm never saying patient to such a horrible thing) have neural connections between the frontal lobe, a part of the brain that controls the person's memory, emotions, and problem-solving skills severed by a sharp surgical tool.

I think the process Rusty went through was the Transorbital Lobotomy, which is where the process done through the person's eye sockets. Something must've gone wrong or something because her left eye is no longer there. So they replaced it with the grate and dot, which could be something planted inside Rusty's eyesocket (Yeah I know, I'm getting squirmish too).

The effects of transorbital lobotomy (which is used to eliminate excess emotion and stabilize a personality, which the Council might've used to remove any strong emotions) can cause the subject to be childlike and less prone to worry.

Now I know some of you might be saying that Rusty isn't childish, not really, but Rusty's needs to look to others for orders and random bouts of emotions evoke a childlike feel to her. Like she's a child looking to adults for guidance.

This brings me to my last point in this post; Rusty's complex issue.

When it's looked into more, Rusty doesn't seem to serve on the council because she just wants to, it's probably to feel validated or appreciated. Instead of giving herself validation and accepting herself, she undergoes robotic implants and lobotomy to please a group of dictators.

Rusty doesn't love herself.

And when she probably realized earlier her mistake, she gives up on fighting it, instilling a dull and emotionally suppressed mindset (not that it wasn't already). But then Nine programs her to fight for the Rebels, and we see that Rusty's more expressive, more lively than she was.

She expresses herself more because she's not alone anymore.

Then Nine abandons her and the Rebels, and we see this.

When Nine abandons them, Rusty doesn't show shock or surprise; she shows tired disappointment, not at Nine, in fact, she seems to accept his betrayal. In the first picture, her self-disappointment is on full display, she's saddened at the fact that Nine didn't think of her as good enough and left her.

The second picture has her looking down, still sad, still loathing herself.

Then the last one has her finally break into tears, not just at the betrayal, but at her self-thought failure to be useful. She looks angry at herself.

Knuckles is furious, and Rouge is hurt, but Rusty is the one that truly breaks down at that moment. Knuckles and Rouge escape, and we see Rusty. Her sadness was suddenly gone, a small smile on her face.

It's relieved in a way. It shows what Rusty truly thinks. She doesn't want the city to be a punk-dystopian city, she regrets her choice to join the Council, and she wants freedom like the others. But then this happens.

She gets reprogrammed to the Council, and her thoughts are overridden by code and she serves the Council once more. She doesn't look too happy about it either.

Then we'll skip to episode 6, with Nine getting captured. When Mister Dr. Eggman announces that Nine has been captured we see a brief look of some sort of sadness on Rusty.

Only for it to harden.

Rusty didn't seem happy when the fox she worked under briefly got caught, there's a sense of sadness. Only for it to be squashed down into cold aloofness. She goes back under the Council's plan.

Then in the pirate episode, Rusty sees Black Rose, and both are understandably shocked. Rusty glitches out and refuses to bomb the rest of the ship. Her face as she calls for the robots to stop and her voice both sound panicked.

She doesn't seem to want to hurt Black Rose for some reason. A reason we'll find out in season 2. Hopefully Black Rose'll make her find peace with herself.

Anyway, this was just another messed up theory, and thank you for reading it! I hope you liked it, and I'll see ya when I come up with another crazy theory.

I came across your IDW post about which ships have been teased in the comic so far, and something that I always find.... surprising, I guess, is that fans do not seem to notice or care just how many ones contain Sonic. One day Sonic gets carried bridal style by Shadow and bam they're bfs now it's canon Sega approved this everybody!!!!!!! The next Blaze is making googly eyes at him and Sonaze canon everybody!!!! Sonic held Lanolin's hand it's canon!!!!!!! Amy is gushing and blushing and oh my god it is totally canon!!!!!!!! (Where, funnily enough, Sonic carrying Amy bridal style elicited much less of such a reaction than Shadow carrying Sonic did in the It Is Canon Now debate, at least from what I could tell on Tumblr. Though considering this is Tumblr, I can think of some reasons, lol.) This happens in the games as well, except the fact I do feel those lean a lot less into deliberate ship teasing like the comic does.

And you know.... if there is so much to be teased in IDW and so much "canon" and every single issue at this point contains a different character for Sonic to be making his smug face at while they simp and/or get all tsundere... maybe it is a clear sign that all this means nothing and is only put in to make fans go "!!!!!! THEY APPROVED MY SHIP I AM SUPERIOR NOW TO ALL OTHER SHIPS CUZ IT IS IN OFFICIAL [*cough, cough*] MEDIA!!1!!1" as opposed to actually going anywhere for Sonic ship-wise? Not that the fans will ever realise that, sigh.

I noticed, actually. The only non-Sonic ships that so far have been teased are Whispangle (and how), Knuxamy in #62, and absolutely accidentally Staregg in the MV arc lol (I don't care how accidental it was, Staregg OTP in my heart :< starline totally wanted to clap those eggcheeks don't @ me)

I think I saw a tweet jokingly calling Sonic a slut when #63 dropped? Don't quote me on that though, I don't remember the phrasing but it was a joke about how many people he has flirted with recently lol (including the heavy Sonknux vibes of Frontiers)

(it's also funny that Sonamy gains far less traction than all those other ships lol. Maybe it's because it's almost "canon" and so not as interesting. Or maybe we know why :^) )

But yeah. I understand enjoying the crumbs of ship teasing, I really do, especially for the minor ones such as Sonaze (Sonanolin is kinda funny though lol, I doubt that one has many fans). But there's a difference between "HOLY SHIT THEY HELD HANDS THAT'S CUTE" and "HOLY SHIT THEY HELD HANDS IT'S TOTALLY CANON GUYS!!!". And cynically, the overabundance of teases involving Sonic can be explained as 1) him being the protagonist and the more interesting character to ship, to generate views and attention (only, like, 6 people cared about the Knuxamy tease and i was one of them), and 2) the dude is so irrelevant in his own comic that this is the best they can think for him. The OCs deal with a semi-serious plot, and the titular character protagonist of the massive franchise IDW Sonic is attached to is reduced to shallow fanfic fuel. Granted, I'll take slut Sonic over Preachy Pope Sonic any time of the day, but you get what I mean.

The Sonadow teasing is IMO the worst. Sonic emotionally manipulates Shadow in #6 by making leverage on the way he had been twisted to carry out Gerald's evil plans? OMG THEY'RE TOTALLY SHARING BEDROOM EYES SONIC SO WANTS TO FUCK HIS BF <3 Shadow is an utter cunt for the entirety of the Chao Racing arc? AWWWWW MY LITTLE GAY BABIESSSSSSS SONIC IS SO HAPPY TO FALL IN HIS ARMS AS SHADOW INSULTS HIMMMMM <3 NVM THAT SHADOW SAID IN #19 THAT SONIC DESERVED TO BE PAINFULLY INFECTED <3 <3 <3 And you know what I also roll my eyes at "I heart you too Shadow" from Prime, for how out of context it was taken. I didn't watch Prime in full, but I did read IDW, and there is no way you can see a healthy chemistry between Sonic and Shadow if you actually pay attention to the whole story and dialogue. ... the fact that Flynn hosted a whole Bumblekast episode dedicated to Sonadow at the end of Pride Month also doesn't help, he deliberately fanned the flames because he knew how much his fans would eat from his hand :\

As for the games, yeah, the ship teasing is usually played for laughs or subtle and understated. Amy went from comically chasing Sonic, to having more serious moments such as her hugging him in the ending of Frontiers. Knuckles and Rouge had some odd tension by the end of their arc in SA2. Sonic and Blaze had that whole "slowly holding hands" moment at the end of Rush. Sonic and Elise... yeah that one took a decade to be accepted for how prominent it is. ShTH is still the king of teasing ofc :P the series is mostly about friendship, not romantic love.

Stella Is an Antagonist, NOT an obstacle

How do I put this?

Antagonists are characters that directly oppose the protagonists in some form, through their actions.

In Stella's case, she puts a hit out on Stolas because she wants to get back at him for humiliating her.

We also have a pretty good idea of who Stella IS as a character: She is a spoiled elitist aristocrat who has never been told 'no' who was stuck in an arranged marriage with a man who she didn't love but instead of trying to get out her unhappy marriage, she decided to take her anger out on him and only stayed with him for status reasons and because she liked having someone she could torment.

So when Stolas finally stands up to her, she takes it personally. She doesn't really seem to give a damn that she was cheated on, but that SHE was cheated by someone she assumed would always be submissive to her. Not only that, the person who her husband cheated on her with was an IMP. The lowest rank of demon there is, AND said Imp literally crashed a tea party she was having while trying to slip out after sleeping with her husband and, and telling her extremely casually, to her face, right in front her fellow aristocrats, quote; "Sorry, I f*cked your husband."

And just to rub salt in the wound, this was the morning RIGHT AFTER her "Not Divorced" (aka the anniversary) party she threw, just so she could gossip and vent to friends about how awful being married to Stolas is WHILE HE'S IN THE ROOM ONLY A FEW FEET AWAY.

So to summarize, Stella is a spoiled brat who is used to getting her way and no one standing up to her, so when someone does, she takes it personally and goes to extreme lengths just to get back at them, even if she gets nothing (other than satisfaction) from it in the long term.

Now Let's compare this to Rachel's character in the first Sonic movie;

While the sequel would give her a bit more depth, I'm going to be focusing on how her character was handled in the first movie, and calling her a 'character' in the first film Is saying a lot...

Okay so first off, we don't know ANYTHING about Rachel other than that she's Maddie's sister, she has a daughter, she lives San Francisco, and most importantly, she hates Tom. WHY does she hate Tom? idk, the movie never tells us! We are never given ANY context as to why she dislikes Tom, who (aside from being a cop) is a good guy! And she hated him long before he ended up becoming America's most wanted man for attempting to help Sonic.

For all intents and purposes, she hates him for no reason at all. And this is her defining trait in the first film, whenever she's on screen, she's usually telling Maddie to leave Tom, with no elaboration. Her hatred of Tom isn't even treated like a real problem, it's just a joke.

So when Tom shows up with an injured Sonic, she says she's gonna call the cops. And what happens to her? Tom and Maddie tie her to a chair in her own living room, take her car, just leave her there!

Rachel's presence in the first movie is to be nothing more than slight nuisance to the main characters without having a good reason to be there and no motivation for her actions, she's delegated to being nothing more than minor obstacle that the heroes have to deal with to reach their goals.

Rachel has no real agency in the movie she' just there to do two things; Hate Tom for comic relief and get in the way of Tom and Maddie helping Sonic. She's just there to be a nuisance to the main characters and nothing more. She is not an antagonist, she's an obstacle. An object with agency of her own and only there to serve at a minor road bump in the plot.

Say what you want about how Stella was handled, but you can't deny that she has an important role in the story, you can't remove her. On the other hand, Rachel could be removed from the story, and almost nothing would change.

The key to difference to me at least, between a full antagonist and an obstacle, is that an antagonist takes action to go against the protagonists ways that actively effect the plot, where as obstacle is someone the author throws into the the story just to slightly inconvenience the heroes who presence has real effect on the wider narrative, and may as well be something like a wall blocking the way that the characters have to climb over. And I don't mean like a giant wall I mean like a wall to a factory. It's a minor inconvenience that once gotten over has no real purpose in the grander narrative.

INEVITABILITY: CHAPTER THREE

“In time, you will know what it's like to lose. To feel so desperately that you're right. Yet to fail all the same. Dread it. Run from it. Destiny still arrives.”

Nothing could have ever prepared you for the physical toll that this fight would have on you. 

Even now, running down the field, alongside your friends, you couldn’t help but gasp for air as you rushed into battle. From the sides of your eyes, you witnessed as the toughest of the border tribes went down, the dora splitting apart to help each other, and even Bucky struggling within the fight. The sounds of battle cries and snarls were almost too loud for you to focus.

From your position you could tell Bucky was distracted while fighting, keeping an eye on you while holding down the defense line. Guilt built up in your stomach, but there was no time to dwell on that. All you could do was guard his back, aiming your repulsors at any creature that tried to get him from behind.

There was a moment where you’re both forced back to back. Weapons kept up as you shot at all the creatures that surrounded you both. “Bucky, we gotta regroup!” you yelled, holding your hands out to shoot at an upcoming pair. The shot hits right on the target and you’re able to shoot a beam between the two of them, causing them to fall down to the ground with a gargle. 

You’re pushed over suddenly, rolling on the ground to see that Bucky has been tackled. 

A creature managed to swipe away his gun, putting Bucky down beneath it. He was forced to attack back with a knife to keep the monster at bay. Switching to your sonic pulse, you send a shot towards them, causing the creature to fall back in a pained cry. Bucky used that to his advantage, grabbing his knife and lodging it in the neck of the creature.

Rushing over, you reach down to offer Bucky a hand when your body slammed next. Rolling down the dirt as a sharp pair of teeth tried to nip at you. There was a pain that ached all over you, but you ignored it to keep the strength into your limbs. Using your legs to keep the creature back and the back of your repulsors to keep the thing from swiping at your face. 

One of its extra pairs of hands began to scratch at your chest, almost getting through the thick kevlar that was used for the tactical gear. You only had a couple of more swipes before your body was sure to give out.

“NO!” yelled Bucky as he clambered up from the ground. You saw from the side of your eye as he picked up the gun, trying to find the right shot. But the creature was rabid, moving the both of you all over as it tried to get its teeth in you.

“Just shoot!” you yelled, feeling a claw pierce through on your arm.

“You’re both moving too much! I can’t get a shot!”

A shadow cast over the land and you barely had a chance to glance up before it rained bullets over you. The monster was angled just right enough that all the hits landed against his back. With its movements stopped, Bucky took his shot and sent the bullet right through its face. 

The monster slumped forward and you used the last bit of strength in your legs to kick it off you. Bucky reached over to pull you up from the ground, checking your face momentarily before his eyes cast up towards the sky. “Thanks, Sam.” he said in his comms piece.

“You guys better get ready, another horde is coming your way.” Was all that he replied. 

The two of you ready yourself again, taking aim for the approaching monsters. You could feel your heartbeat in your throat, wondering just how long any one of you guys can handle these things. 

But just when you’re about to brace for the rush of monsters, a bright, beautiful, light of colors slammed down into the earth. Out of the beams of color was an ax, shooting through the battlefield and taking down a large chunk of monsters. Surrounding it was lightning. 

“What the hell was that?” Bucky asked, looking astonished at the take down. 

Emerging from the beams was none other than Raccoon, a tree-like creature, and Thor.

 In your comms you can hear as Bruce rejoiced at the sight. “Holy shit, there is a God!” you gasped, reaching for Bucky’s hand. He looked down at you questionably before gripping back. 

“What does that mean?” 

“It means we might have a fighting chance, Bucky.” Tugging at him, you point over to the direction Thor was in. Watching as he cast a thunderous attack that swiped out another chunk of the hordes coming through. It was a bit down the field, but now you had an idea of where the two of you would go next.  “And it’s with him. C’mon on!”

The arrival of your dear friend sparked a new hope amongst the fighters on the field. You were able to work better in tandem with Bucky, giving him a little less to worry about. It isn’t until you were nearing Steve that you noticed that you were by yourself. Turning around, you frown at the sight of Bucky barely coming up. He had been behind you just a moment ago, how on Earth did he get left- 

WAS THAT THE RACCOON WITH A GUN IN ITS HANDS?

“Come and get some space dogs!” Yelled the small creature. The gun in his hands expertly hit each and every one of his targets. Bucky looked down at him shocked before he noticed something behind you. “DUCK!” he yelled out. 

You dropped down to your knees, peeking up in time to see Bucky grab hold of the Raccoon and use the advantage of his shooting to cover one side while he used his gun to take care of the others. 

“COME ON! GET SOME!” The raccoon yelled, encouraged by the fighting technique. 

Around you multiple creatures began to drop to the ground. Some even right behind you that you hadn’t noticed yet. Once the shooting ceased, you quickly got up from the ground, making your way over to the two.

“How much for the gun?” he called out to Bucky.

“Not for sale.”

“Okay. How much for the arm?” 

You couldn’t help but let out a laugh. Unsure if you heard him right. The raccoon stared up at you, giving a small chuckle before back to Bucky. All he did was simply stare down at the little guy with an incredulous look. Not sure himself if what was happening was real or not. 

“Come on.” he urged, reaching for your hand as he led you two off. You took a glance over at your shoulder waving off to the creature before turning back to run off with Bucky. He had a frown over his face and you couldn’t help but laugh again. 

“Did that really just happen?” you asked, watching as Bucky only frowned harder.

“I don’t wanna talk about it.”

“Did he ask for your arm?”

“Darlin’, please.”

“You should consider it.”

He stopped running to look at you with a shocked expression. “You mean to tell me you want me to give my arm to the talking Raccoon while we’re in the middle of a battle?” You stood a bit, trying to remember that while the insane moment happened, you guys were still in imminent danger. And yet..

“Well, I kinda wanna see what he does with it..”

“Baby..” he gaped. But before he could say anything else, a monster suddenly sprung up behind him. Holding your hand up, you quickly shoot a repulsor blast over at the head, hitting directly between the eyes. The body slowly slumped to the ground and Bucky stepped back to look at the job you had done.

“Thanks.” he smirked slightly, somewhat proud in way.

“You’re welcome.” you glanced back towards the others and saw how close you were to getting everyone together again. “C’mon let’s go get Steve and Thor.”

“Which way are they?” 

“At your twelve. They’re talking to that tree.”

“..What the hell?”

The tiredness and fatigue began to sweep over you the closer you got towards the main hub of the battle. The monsters were more clustered, more vicious. And no matter how hard you tried to get to your other friends. You and Bucky would be pulled off, forced to defend yourselves from another group attack.

The ground suddenly began to shake, and you turned towards the end of the dome to see that the enemy army had sent underground machines to burst in on the field during the fight. There was no way anyone could stop all of those. 

An attempt came from Sam and Rhodey from the skies, but not even Stark level missiles and ammo could take this tank of a machine down. 

But just as the thought to fall back came into mind, a bright red spark shot across the field. Wanda seemed to come down from the tower and joined the fight. In a matter of seconds, she used her powers to stop the machines in place and shoot them across hordes of enemy soldiers. 

“Oh these assholes are in for it now!” you yelled, happy to see one of the strongest members of the team, if not strongest, finally able to come in and tear them to pieces. 

“Guys, we got a Vision situation here.” Sam called out into comms. You looked back towards the tower, noticing a disturbance in the trees surrounding the side of the building.

“Somebody get to Vision!” yelled Steve afterwards.

“I got him.” Bruce replied, shooting off into the sky. You watched towards the line of direction that Bruce was heading in. 

“Come on,” Bucky said, running towards the treeline. “They’re gonna need backup.”

“FRIDAY, turn on the locator for the Hulkbuster.”

“Sending coordinates for the Mark XLIV now.”

You glanced down to your phone and watched as the red dot began to glow in the right direction. Letting Bucky lead the way, you ran closely behind him, calling out which way to go when suddenly the dot shot clear out of the area. 

“Bruce, come in! Where is your location?” you asked, panting as you tried to shoot and run at the same time. Too many of the creatures were gaining in behind you guys.

“I’ve been dragged off. Guys, Vision needs back up, now!”

The two of you barely entered the woods when you heard the sounds of yelling. “Bucky and I are in, heading to Vision now.” you said into your ear piece. Bucky listened closely for the direction of noise before pointing out the way. 

“On my way, meet you guys there.” Steve chimed in. 

As long as you guys managed to get Vision out, then that meant you still had a fighting chance. 

You’d stop Thanos, kill this stupid army and find a way to bring Tony home. There was hope. There was a way. All you guys had to do was-

“LOOK OUT!”

One of the creatures collided hard with your body, sending the two of you off course and into the trees. The two of you rolled over the grass floor, hitting the long legs of the three trunks and bushes with every roll. The monster felt nothing of what was hitting him as he dug his long sharp claws into the side of your legs, trying to pull through the tactical gear and tear you apart. With its extra two limbs, it managed to hold down your arms, squeezing at the hands so hard that you can feel the repulsor weaken. 

“Bucky!” you screamed, trying to kick yourself back. But just when you were about to kick free, the monster sank its sharp teeth into your shoulder. Causing you to cry out in pain. The two of you are so trapped in the fight that neither you or the creature seemed to notice that you reached the edge of the cliff. 

The last thing you see before you emerge in the water is the sight of Bucky jumping off the cliff after you.

“Wake up, baby. Please.”

There was fast pressure against your chest. Building up the feeling of nausea that physically felt was being pushed upwards. The pressure eventually built up hard enough against your diaphragm that it finally caused the water to flow up. Making you sit up instantly and spew out the water out from your mouth. 

At the relief of water from your lungs, you’re able to gasp in a big gulp of air.

 “Thank God.” Bucky cried out, hands wrapped around you. 

Slowly, you wiped the water away from your face, blinking a couple of times to adjust to your surroundings. The first thing you see just beside you is the mutilated face of the creature that had dragged you down into the water.

You let out a scream, trying to scoot away from it before Bucky shushed you. Holding you gently against his body. “It’s dead..I made sure of it.”

Glancing up you caught sight of the worried look on Bucky’s face and instantly reached out to cup at his cheek. His eyes slipped close for a second before opening again. “I thought I lost you.” he said softly. 

“I’m still here.” you said trying to get up. But the sudden pain blazed through your arms and legs and you couldn’t help but cry out. Looking down, you saw the actual damage against your body. There was blood seeping out from your legs and your shoulder had been bit into enough that the kevlar covering your skin had been torn off. Leaving a good window of the bite mark that was oozing. 

In the distance you could hear the sounds of everyone still fighting. How long have you been out? Where was Vision? Where was everyone?

“We have to get you out of here.” he said softly. He attempted to lift you up from the ground but the pain quickly returned to your body, causing another cry to come from your lips. He panicked and shushed you, gently falling back into the position until the pain stopped.

You can’t help but shake your head, knowing what has to happen now. You just weren’t sure you’d be able to actually convince him. But right when you open your mouth to speak, he quickly leaned in to press a soft kiss to your lips. 

“Don’t ask me to do it.” he whispered.

“You have to go.”

“I can’t just leave you.” he said, shaking his head. “You have to let me help you.”

You brought a hand up to gently cup around the side of his face. A rumble in the distance paused the conversation. A blue light shined brightly from within the trees. Something in your gut telling you that this was the final moments of the game. 

“It can’t be me over the earth. You have to help them. I won’t forgive you if you stay.”   

He pressed his forehead against yours, looking almost in pain from the words you just spoke. For a moment it’s silence from Bucky before he lets out a frustrated cry. Placing you to lie down on the ground, he reached down towards the hem of your top, pulling up the suit until he reached the soft clothing of your shirt inside. 

Tearing off two long strips, he tied around the larger cuts around your legs before he helped drag you away from the body of the monster, closer towards the cliff where you could lean against the lifted ground.

“I’ll come back for you.” he promised. 

The words oddly felt like an eerie dream coming to memory. Trees, claw marks, and his voice. Why did that sound so familiar? You pushed away the thought, nodding your head at Bucky before you reached out for his hand.

The two of you share one long look before Bucky sprung forward to kiss you again. You held onto him tightly, fearing that it might be the last time you get to. Just when you were about to urge him to go again, he suddenly pulled away to look down at you. With only such an intensity that you’ve seen once before. Back in Siberia..

“I love you.” he said softly.

There’s no hesitation when you replied back, feeling the words ready on your lips after all these months. “I love you too. I’ve always loved you.”

He reached out to your face, gently brushing away a tear you weren’t even aware came out. “I’m coming back. As soon as I can.” Pulling back, he finally made his way over to the cliff, watching you one last time before he began to quickly climb up. Using his super soldier speed to help get him over the top again. 

Left alone, you checked over your body once more. The blood seemed to be stopping at your thighs but the pain in your shoulder only seemed to get worse. Pressing your fingers against your ear, you attempt to make an emergency call for FRIDAY but are shocked to feel nothing.

The fight with the monster must have caused it to fall out in the water. Looking at your hands, you’re even more distressed to see that your right glove is off, leaving you with a cracked glove. At least you had something to defend yourself. 

But how long could you hold off for? How much blood have you lost? The pain was still burning inside your skin and the ease of just sleeping away the pain was creeping in. To your right you could hear the sounds of nature. It was calm and soothing. Like it was trying to ease you. There’s a guttural croaking sound that cuts through the white noise. 

A brightly green frog jumped out from the water. Hopping towards the bushes. There’s suddenly a hard gust of wind and the sound of rumbling in the distance. Was that a good sign? Did they manage to win? Glancing up you try and see if Bucky or anyone was at the top. But there was nothing. 

Another shift happened around you, making it feel like the air was being sucked out of your body before it gained back to being controlled. You look around the area. Nothing seemed out of place. It’s not until the sound of croaking cuts in again that you feel something is wrong. 

Turning to look back out the water, you’re shocked to see another green frog jump out from the water. Going in the same path the one did before..That couldn’t be right. You try to feel around your leg, seeing if there was any phone or device at all on you, but your hand immediately feels the wetness of blood that had seeped out of your wounds.

There's the sound of cries in the air. Various names being called out. But the voices sounded in pain. Why were they crying like that? Glancing up in the air, you notice a gust of wind pick up something dark. Leaves? Ashes? Dust?

Did we just lose?

A sob filled up in your throat. Why did a part of you feel like it’s been suddenly ripped away? The sky loomed above you, seeming to follow with your emotions as it began to grow overcast. Setting you in a darkness that had you shivering. Or was that from the amount of blood lost?

Fading. You’re fading away now. All alone. With only the sound being the forest taunting you as you finally drift away into a heavy sleep.

A/N: It's absolutely insane that I'm only a movie/tv show away from finishing this storyline. I've worked on these characters for so long and this is the first time I've had the endgame couple say they love each other. only for buck to get blipped. 😩 see y'all soon with the next installment.

Hi moth!! You can call me tetra. Don't worry that's not my real name or anything tho. I took it from the concept of tetrachords in music.

If we're generous about what we call superheroes, then maybe most of the things I like are superhero based. I mean obviously there's marvel and dc, but then there's stuff like dpxdc, sonic the hedgehog (idk if I've ever heard him called a superhero but he kinda is), if we count magical girls then like. Sailor moon and madoka magica

I haven't seen any episodes of good omens, but I read a really good fanfic of Crowley going to therapy a while back, and a couple funny ones with like yelp reviews of Aziraphale's bookstore. Plus I love the good omens analysis posts on here. I feel like maybe I half know some of what's happened in the show but also probably haven't scratched the surface. I'm kinda bad at watching TV shows, so there's a lot of stuff that I know from fandom but haven't seen. For another example of that, I've only watched one or two episodes of Sonic Prime. I reblog posts for it and it sounds good but idk. Just bad at it.

I'm a much more casual fan of musicals, I think for the same thing as above where I just struggle to sit and watch something on purpose. But I listen to the music from them sometimes, I've read transcripts online of a couple, and i swoon whenever I see a post analyzing the meaning of a musical song, especially when they go beyond lyrics and start going into the music theory in the tune. I don't have the skills or knowledge to do that myself but I love it so much

Lately I've been bouncing back and forth between Sonic and DPxDC. With hints of Slay The Princess in there bc I saw part of a playthrough of that awhile ago and loved the concept. I reblog madoka magica stuff whenever I see it (except magia record bc I know next to nothing about it) because that stuff makes me lose my mind. The love the pain the hope the despair!! Homura is probably like my ultimate blorbo but I love all the five girls they're so cool. I actually read the manga instead of watching the show though so I'm not as familiar with all the music. Plus I think the show had some extra scenes. Although it's a little confusing bc I think some of the extra scenes I see are magia record so idk.

Also I'm a fan of arts and crafts and will reblog that kind of thing once in a while, along with cute cat stuff.

Has anyone ever tried to rewrite Sonic Heroes? I feel like there's a lot to work with on the concept, but the execution... There's an issue here.

And it's especially present with the "One team fights another team" boss fights. The reasons they fight each other are so arbitrary it physically hurts me.

If they're going to remake the game, they should at least fix that because it's probably the most glaring issue story wise... Along with character writing but that was expected. So what if, and hear me out on this one...

Neo Metal Sonic manipulated everyone to divide their forces from behind the scenes?

So the way this'll work is, before the boss fights itself, we'd get a cutscene showing the group we're playing as about to enter the next level until they see the other team in the distance. Just as they're about to greet them, they overhear that team badmouthing their group before leaving.

(If Neo can figure out how to shapeshift, I'm sure he can figure out how to duplicate himself too using holographic versions. Not to mention the replication of voices as the doubles, he's done it in IDW before he can certainly do it again.)

And it happens on the other side as well, as Neo badmouths the other team before leaving, leading to a confrontation between both sides as they angrily accuse each other of saying horrible things.

It isn't until the Chaotix, in their story, free Eggman that they figure out what actually happened: That Metal Sonic went rogue, upgraded himself, locked away Metal, and was gathering bio-data to use it to become the most powerful machine ever and take over the world.

So the Chaotix head back and manage to clear up the issues before Team Sonic, Rose, and Dark start fighting again. And then Neo finally reveals himself as the one behind it all.

Doesn't that sound more interesting? We'd tie into the overarching plot while focusing on each character's individual stories.

Now... I'm going to give an example of Neo's powers at work, using Team Rose and Team Sonic as our examples.

Team Sonic's Route:

*Team Sonic walking nearby.*

*Neo shifting into Team Rose.*

Cream: What now, miss Amy?

Amy: Now, we just hand this emerald over to Eggman. He'd absolutely appreciate having something this valuable.

Big: Exactly. We need to work with him so we can get back our friends.

Amy: *grumbling* loathsome traitors...

Cream: What was that, miss Amy?

Amy: Oh, nothing Cream. It's just... I'm sick of Sonic always stealing the spotlight with no regard for anyone else! Like, who can stand that guy?! He's so narcissistic it's unbelievable!

Cream: Yeah... Tell me about it. Makes me confused as to why Tails and Knuckles even follow him around. Tails is obviously the smart one, but why is he so attached to someone so vain?

Big: Don't get me started on Knuckles. He's just a flat out idiot. Look at him! He's stuck on an island for months on end, and it seems like his intelligence is just flat out dwindling.

Cream: And where's the sympathy? They're just so aggressive, it makes me sick to my stomach.

Amy: Y'know... Maybe we should go. We don't have any time to waste.

*Neo (discuised as Team Rose) leaves.*

Knuckles: Oh chaos...

Tails: That... W-Why...?

Sonic: *long pause*. Maybe... We need to rethink our friendship with them if they're talking like this about us.

Tails: Agreed.

Knuckles: Focus now on Eggman, and if we see them again...

Sonic:... Okay, fine. We'll knock some sense into them.

Knuckles: Exactly.

Tails: Let's go.

Team Rose's Route:

*Neo shifting himself into team Sonic.*

*Team Rose coming around the corner.*

Sonic: Ha! Have you seen how ridiculous Amy is? I'm kinda shocked that she's with a tiny bunny and a big cat.

Tails: Yeah, it's like they wanna fail in rescuing their friends.

Tails, to Knuckles: You... Do know where you put them, right?

Knuckles: Of course I do. Chocola and Froggy are locked up. They can't escape so easily.

Knuckles: And to think Cream cares about her Chao so much when she's risking their safety by bringing them along?

Tails: Don't get me started on Big and Froggy. They're just flat out annoying. Also, why fishing? That feels incredibly unproductive.

Sonic: *long sigh* Guys, let's just get outta here and continue figuring out a way to stop Eggman...

*Neo (discuised as Team Sonic) leaves.*

Cream: *trying not to cry.*

Big: *visibly upset.*

Amy: How dare they?! I thought we were friends! Those... Jerks.

Cream: Wh-What now...?

Amy: We track them down and make them pay. We're going to rescue Chocola and Froggy, and they're going to get a beat-down.

Both reasons why they're fighting:

Team Sonic believes that Team Rose have been hiding their distain towards them and are secretly working with Eggman.

Team Rose thinks that Team Sonic have kidnapped their friends Chocola and Froggy and absolutely despise them for being weak and pathetic and unable to defend themselves.

The confrontation:

*Both sides finding each other again.*

Sonic: Amy?! Why are you here?!

Amy: *summons her hammer.* Sonic! Give us back our friends!

*She slams her hammer down, forcing Sonic to dodge.*

Sonic: You're friends?! Why? I thought you were working for Eggman! All of you!

Amy: If you think that, you're even more idiotic than I expected!

Cream: Where's Chocola Chao?! WHERE IS HE?!

Tails: We don't know where he is!

Cream: Liar! I heard you all knew exactly where you hid them!

Tails: Why should we tell you then, traitor?!

Big: Hey! No one accuses my friends of being traitors!

Knuckles: So what?! You think this is funny?

Big: I need my friend back. Where is he?

Knuckles: We don't know!

Big: Stop lying already, all of you!

Amy: *falls back* Oh... That's it. If you all aren't going to listen, we'll make you.

*Fight begins.*

So what do you think? I think Heroes has a ton of potential to be rewritten into a great story! This is just an example of what I mean.

Look I know for a fact that nothing that big happens in this update in between the start and the end and I am actually really tired so I decided to jump to the end and see if there is anything worth mentioning there.

I know that in between the beginning and the final there are A LOT of useless conversations and only a few good ones with Sage and Eggman but I feel like we can still skip them. All in all this was just added because people wanted to play the other characters and I am not keen on watching this as it adds more to a players experience not to the experience of someone who just watches it.

So Sonics Friends have trouble with their corrupted state but still managed to get the Chaos Emeralds for him. But going by their expressions and Body-Language, I think they have reached their limit. Which is interesting given how Sonic lasted 4 and a half Islands, collected the Emerald 3 times and fought 3 Titans before he corruption ate him alive. And his Friends barely managed one island and like two Emeralds, minus any Titans ^^' Speaks for Sonic once again that he lasted that freaking long.

Sage made a shield to protect Eggman from the Bosses attacks that this time are hitting much harder it seems...

Knuckles, Amy and Tales come to help her... which is nice and all but... uh... weren't they barely able to stand the last time we saw them? Now they can suddenly fly and use their "strength" to help with the shield? O.o

So there is a cutscene triggered shortly after that and if you have less than 100 rings left at this point you die. The new Horizont update is a nightmare in terms of difficulty, I tell you XD

Super Sonic is absolutely cool in those scenes during the fight!

Looks like for his big attack Sonic actually embraces his corruption. Bold!

He did it! This time he beat the End. But... damn! Don't pull a Shadow on us, Sonic!

Nope! We're good. Sonic survived.

Guys! Guys! Look! Look! This time, she is standing next to him! She is there! She is fine! AHHHHH!

Much better ending! Much, much, much better!

Isn't it wonderful? *sniff* *sniff* Shut up! These are happy tears this time!

Okay now I feel like I am still a bit entitled to some sort of review for this game as I've played though half of it (and I saw some footage of the Final Horizont Update previously so its not like I really only saw the ending of it...) and I've watched Charriii play though it and heard his comments and I believe I still can voice my thoughts and feelings on it.

So...

The story was great. Amazing and interesting and entertaining and even for me, who has seen most of the cutscenes before and knew the overall Plot beforehand, it was still something I loved to experience myself (as long as I could) and also see someone else experience it on YouTube. I feel like this game was made for longtime-Fans of the series. With lots of references to other characters and previous games. They even managed to include their hiccups with Tails character in Forces in a way that shows the players that they know and acknowledge their mistakes but the way Tails character develops shows that they are working on it. All characters have an amazing character-development in this game. I admit... I have a bit of... uh... a hard time getting used to an Amy that is not constantly suffocating Sonic, but the hug in the end was worth it all XD I do love me some soft Eggmann. I do remember people whining in Sonic X about Egmann actually only working with the Metarex to eventually beat them, or him preventing Sonic from turning dark or him not wanting to kill Tails at the end of the first season. But I loved it so much that this man is not just evil and that sometimes he shows that he has respect for Sonic and then we got his relationship with Sage and... it was so freaking good! It gave his character so much more depth. I know many people prefer their villains purely evil, but I love my villians with a heart and a soul and people they love and care about. It was great! I loved how the executed the Arcs for each character. I loved how Sonic was more understanding and empathic and less impulsiv in this game. I love how this game shows you how much he truly cares about his friends and also how different the dynamics are. The soft way he handles Amy, the rather rough way he deals with Knuckles and the brotherly way he handles Tails. It is really and truly wonderful. And I would have loved to experience all that myself, but it wasn't meant to be...

(Mind you there are a few plotholes and questionmarks in the plot as well... especially regarding Sonics movements when climbing the 6 Towers even tho in those cutscenes you saw how he could Barely stand, let alone really move... but there are minor and the rest of it is too good to even bother making a huge deal out of it!)

Because the gameplay is a totally different story for me! Now... my only issue with the game that has nothing to do with my Skill-Issues is the fact that the Camera is sometimes a freaking nightmare. Charriii too complained about it a lot. Especially some of the 2D-Parts in the open world were a nightmare to Manöver. It makes the Platforming harder than it has to be.

Now... about the rest of the game and why it wasn't for me. I've talked about my issues before, so I try to make this one short for once.

The jump in difficulty between the worlds was HUGE. Not to talk about how much harder the DLC was - and I could see and feel that just by watching someone else play it! The thing with the perfect parry is ridiculous! I've played that on easy and I feel like the only thing it did make easier was the bossfights. Maybe the requirements for the puzzles and stuff were also easier but if that was the case, I hardly could feel that after Amys Island ^^' The fact that most of the monsters couldn't be killed just by simply attacking them was also something that the easier difficulty did nothing about. Charriii didn't fight much either, so it wasn't really necessary but it was certainly still a problem especially as those monsters sometimes give you certain Items you might need or find rather useful. The rquierments for the optional scenes with the characters were sometimes really hard. In Knukkles World I gave up collecting them for two reasons: The first was, I just was so tired of collecting the Tokens for them AND I had no idea how to get to the place were Knukkles was. The immens amount of running around was overall a true nightmare, especially on the bigger Islands. There should have been more fast-traveling options available and from the start no less.

In any case... most of the reason I could not finish this game were my skill-Issues, as I've said before. But I feel like, they could have made sure that even players like me can get through the game, when they play on easy. That is probably too much to ask tho.

Plot and character-development aside, for me personally it was... not a bad game. That is the thing. Most of the times when I can not finish a game, its because the game sucks! And I should say that here too, what kind of game is so hard to finish even when you cheat? But as I was saying multiple times before, the game wasn't the issue, I was the issue. I was the one who couldn't finish it even with cheats. I think for the average Sonic player, the difficulty was fine. You did not have to get all the optional scenes, you did not have to find and finish all the Vault-Missions, you did not have to reveal the whole card to get through the plot (although it was increasingly harder on Chaos-Island to find your way to were you have to be to get what you need without the map...) and while there were some missions and puzzles and ways to certain places that were way too hard to figure out, most of them were easy enough or - once again - optional and thus you could have skipped most of them or not explore certain parts of the map.

I honestly am almost feeling like I should give this game a 9 out of 10 which is really high praise from me. HOWEVER... considering that there were things you needed to do or places you needed to go where the solution wasn't easy to find by yourself and the fact that the difference in difficulty from Island to Island was far too huge, I think I give it a 8 out of 10 instead. The final Horizont Ending was basically what Player wanted but it still kind of ruined a bit of the emotional impact of the actual ending and the impression the final boss fight left on the player. So I think 8 is fair. It certainly was a 10 among the Sonic Games tho. Sega got his Baby back on track with this game and they deserve applause for that. Very well done!
