I dont know why Relicanth is one of my favorite Pokemon. I dont know when Relicanth became one of my favorite Pokemon.
Same can be said for Regigigas, Claydol, Alolan Marowak, and Bronzong.
I just like them a lot.
#I haaate that Regigigas is so bad. We literally have Arceus Mew Darkrai (well Darkrai isnt so good anymore but it used to be insane)#and Zacian and Kyurem's fused forms#we had Mega Rayquaza!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#Regigigas deserves better :C#pkmn tag#original posts

to the scholarly mind, the favorite pokemon reveal confirms everything you need to know about jimmy and curly's character
mega rayquaza is the 4th strongest pokemon of all time just going off attack stats, but when you take into account the comparative ease with which it mega evolves, the move type combos it can learn, and how you need to have a phd in pokemon to counter it, arguments have been made about it being the strongest pokemon of all time. of course jimmy is going to want a legendary pokemon that's highly skilled, highly evolved, and difficult to take down.
and pikachu? fucking pikachu, curly? at least anya had the guts to pick an eeveelution instead of just straight up eevee. the way i see it there's two ways to interpret this pick:
first, there are a lot of legitimate reasons why someone's favorite pokemon would be pikachu. it's cute, it's charismatic, and it's familiar. because pikachu is the face of the franchise and ash's companion, we as the audience have a lot of time to see what a pikachu is capable of and grow to love it just out of familiarity. it's nostalgic and comforting. who else do we know curly has a frequency bias for? who else is charismatic but otherwise uninspiring?
second, it's a safe, unobtrusive, inoffensive choice. choosing pikachu is boring but isn't going to make people confused or upset. it's likely to get you written off at worst. it's the middling choice, it's how you choose without having to choose, it's what you pull so you don't have to think about it deeply, it's the path of least resistance.
jimmy the power hungry control freak, curly the non-confrontational people-pleaser. it's reductive of their characters yeah (which is something i've tried really hard not to do) but god i'd be blind not to at least see it :/

Just made a post on Twitter about this but I'll say it again on here. Spoilers for Mouthwashing incoming...
So I have a theory as to why Mega Rayquaza was chosen to be Jimmy's favorite. We all know Jimmy is a huge douchebag asshole piece of garbage (of course not to say everyone who has an OP pokemon as their favorite is as such. It's just given the context of the game that is one of the reasons.)
But how about diving into Rayquaza itself? Rayquaza was first introduced in the third generation of Pokémon in the games Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. Now, in Ruby and Sapphire, Rayquaza didn't do much they were just vibing. But in Emerald, they were given a bigger role.
We all know that Ray was the only one who could stop Groudon and Kyogre because of its Air Locke ability, which neutralizes the effects of weather, rendering Kyogre and Groudon powerless so they retreated back into hiding.
But for some reason, despite the whole of the Hoenn region experiencing the biggest 180 in climate change and impending disaster, Ray still had yet to arise from its slumber. Why?
It was never made clear in Emerald as to why we had to go to Sky Pillar ourselves. We were just told by the champion of the region to go there. No fanfare. But I think it's because of how we have proven ourselves worthy after beating both teams time and time again. Rayquaza could sense our drive to save the world. Pure and unadulterated feeling of justice and hardship radiating within us that awoken the green dragon. Moved by our passion and love for Pokémon and our home, it, too, was driven to stop the weather beasts once again.
Now onto our second story where Rayquaza plays a huge role: PMD Red and Blue Rescue team (DX too).
When the 1st part of the main story is beginning its climax, Xatu warns the Pokémon of Pokémon Square that a falling star, the true cause of their world's climate change, is heading towards them. This star could only be stopped by Rayquaza, who is name dropped for the first time in this game. Hyping them up to be a super secret and all powerful being that can only be confronted by a select few.
This one sentence alone shows how rare of an encounter this is. Rayquaza, protector of the skies, immediately attacks any and all who interact with them should they be deemed unnatural to their domain.
However, this was a special occasion. And certain Pokémon were deemed worthy by their peers to be the ones to be sent up to the skies. They have proven themselves time and time again that they're capable.
Only they could fix it.
Of course, those Pokémon were us, the player and our partner.
[Screenshots taken from Chuggaaconroy's playthrough of Rescue Team DX]
The player is made aware at the start that this is a suicide mission. But they made a vow to see it to the end, even at the cost of their life. Even though they were destined to leave the Pokémon world behind from the start. They still persisted.
And they did it. They defeated Rayquaza after proving they were worthy of its presence. Worthy of their help. Worthy.
Of course this brings me to the Delta episode in ORAS.
I have unfortunately used my limit of media to provide for this post so I will condense this part.
From the beginning of the game we are followed by a character named Zinnia who is the remaining descendant of her draconian family. They for centuries relied on Rayquaza for help and even have been able to harness its power. Zinnia however could not.
After a certain point we're at Sky Pillar together. She summons Rayquaza but could not awaken its full power. It isn't until it consumes the meteorite in our possession and decides to join our team that it awakened its full potential.
After being proven worthy we head to space to destroy the meteor.
"Okay, Rue. But what the hell does this have to do with Jimmy having Mega Rayquaza as his favorite?"
Simple.
Jimmy is someone who we can assume has NPD. He also has a huge ego.
Throughout the game Jimmy constantly remarks on how because he's in charge he's the one who needs to fix things. He's always trying to portray himself as a selfless hero to his coworkers when in reality, he's trying to cover up the fact that he tried to kill them all in a murder-suicide plot due to how he SA'd Anya. Who, by the way, is expecting his child who was to be due by the end of the voyage. He did not want to face the consequences. It didn't help having due to be fired after the voyage that resentment grew within him towards Curly.
So, behind Curly's back, he crashes the ship into an asteroid in hopes of killing everyone including himself on board.
It fails.
So he puts the blame on Curly, who couldn't even defend himself. Makes himself the Captain and tries to paint himself as the good guy with lies and manipulation. Making false promises to take responsibility and fix things.
Try to be the hero.
Perhaps Jimmy resonates with Rayquaza in a sense that he wants to be it? Like how he "became" Curly, in a sense. He took charge. Even faced a meteor.
Or he simply wanted to feel like he was worthy of it given his bloated ego? He felt like he could make it mega evolve as in pokemon lore, a pokemon can't mega evolve unless its trainer possessed the power to do so. Jimmy felt like he was powerful in his delusional high. He truly thought he could harness the power of a god. But in reality, he could never hope to even get a glimpse of the mythical creature. All he can do is dream.
Anyway that's my theory brought to you by my overthinking ass.
Do you guys think there's something with Anya having an ice type as her favorite? Not thinking about Glaceon just in general? Y'know...being that ice is quad effective against a dragon and flying type like Rayquaza?
But like I said I overthink. Don't take me seriously. (Seriously please I'm fragile)

[A video is embedded. Zinnia is standing next to a smart board (remember those) in front of a classroom full of students. For some reason, some of the students are holding testudo shields.
Zinnia: Alrighty, kiddos! It's time to learn some history! My name is Zinnia or Lorekeeper Zinnia or Professor Zinnia. Whatever you wanna use.
She uses the smart pen to write her name on the board.
Zinnia: I'll be your guest instructor today and I'm here to learn you some Hoenn History! This is just one of several lectures you'll be able to attend to get out of whatever boring class you're supposed to be in. We'll be covering, myths, legends, the ancient past, and even some recent history. You know, to piss Raifort off a bit.
Zinnia clicks a clicker and the smartboard changes from a digital whiteboard to an image of the mural at Sky Tower. Or rather, a recreation of it. The actual mural is too big to make getting a photograph possible.
Zinnia: We'll start simple. If you were born in Hoenn or spent any amount of time researching Hoenn mythology, which you probably haven't given how terrible your world history course is. So much time spent on Hisui. It's a fascinating topic but other regions exist too.
Zinnia clears her throat.
Zinnia: So, who can tell me the names of the Legendary Trio known as the Super-Ancient Pokemon.
Several hands go up. Zinnia makes a big show of deciding who to call on before eventually settling on a student in the back.
Zinnia: You! You look real smart!
The student looks a bit unsure.
Student: Uh... Groudon... Kyarger... and Racaza?
Zinnia: You know what, I'll give it to ya. The names of the Super-Ancient Pokemon are Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza.
Zinnia points to each Pokemon on the mural as she says this.
Zinnia: A long, long, long, long time ago, Groudon created the land and Kyogre created the sea. However, the two Pokemon were at odds with each other. Groudon's sole purpose was to create more land and Kyogre's sole purpose was to create more sea. And neither of them could fulfill that purpose so long as the other existed. Overflowing with Primal Energy, the two clashed, bringing chaos and catastrophe down upon the world. The seas turned, fire rained from the sky. The people and Pokemon could do naught but flee.
Zinnia: It seemed like there was no end in sight for this titanic clash. But then, Rayquaza, Lord of the Skies, Guardian of the Earth, descended from the heavens. Lord Rayquaza's power was enough to overwhelm the two titanic Pokemon, ending the era of chaos and bringing peace to the land. But the story's not over yet. Oh no, we haven't even reached the best part.
Zinnia grins, flashing her fangs.
Zinnia: Thousands of years later, another great Meteor fell. This Meteor bored into the earth creating a massive crater that would later come to house the City of Sootopolis. The crater created by the Meteor overflowed with Primal Energy, enough to reawaken Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre.
Zinnia clasps her hands together.
Zinnia: Once again Rayquaza descended from the heavens but the Primal Pokemon, overflowing with the energy from the crater, proved to be too strong. It seemed all hope was lost and all the people had left was one last desperate wish. The Meteor within the crater responded to the people's wishes and shined with a brilliant rainbow light, transforming Rayquaza into a new radiant form. With this new form it sapped the power from Groudon and Kyogre, resealing them yet again.
Zinnia changes the slide to a stylized graphic of various Mega Stones in an aesthetically pleasing pattern. At the center is a Keystone.
Zinnia: It believed by my people, the Draconids, that this was the first ever instance of Mega Evolution. Yes!
She points at a student who has their hand raised.
Student: Wasn't Mega Evolution created by the King of Kalos firing the Ultimate Weapon 3000 years ago?
Zinnia sits on the desk.
Zinnia: Well, that's certainly one version of the story.
Zinnia lays back on the desk.
Zinnia: In truth, nobody really knows where Mega Evolution came from. There are a lot of different stories but who knows which one is true.
She springs back upright.
Zinnia: Maybe none of them are true. Maybe all of them are. It's a mystery, and that's what makes it so fun. I certainly know which story I prefer but, hey, I'm a bit biased.
Zinnia clicks the clicker again and the slide switches to an image of Sky Pillar taken from the air.
Zinnia: Alongside the Sootopolins, my people built a massive tower to record this story and pass it on to future generations, known today as Sky Pillar. It also serves as an altar to Lord Rayquaza, so that if we're ever in need, we can summon it to protect us.
Zinnia turns the smartboard off and leaps to her feet.
Zinnia: And that's part one. Its basic but its important to know. My next lecture will focus on the various native tribes of Hoenn and their cultures. Oh, and if any of you want to see an example of Mega Evolution in action, meet me in the Courtyard later. Class dismissed. Unless you have Raifort next in which case feel free to hang around for a bit.
The video ends.]
@accessabilityanon Since you couldn't make it. Its all basic stuff but I needed to lay down the foundation for later and I think I made it pretty entertaining.

@moddedmoor asked:
salut. i make it my job to bother variations of Professor Sycamore. but i'm actually more curious about your blog title.
see, i also study the geology of mega stones and wanted to pick apart your brain on your research into them! it's an absolutely fantastic way to see if our universes are in any way intertwined in that regard.
I feel the same! I've been badgering the dist out of some other versions of myself, too- most of them don't seem to have the same strange occurrences around Mega Stones that are normal in my own universe- some of the Infinity Energy in the stones leeches into the environment, causing some very odd things to happen.
For example, Venusaurite has been found to cause enhanced plant growth in conditions that are otherwise unsuitable- I was just reading an article on someone managing to do this in Orre, of all places!
My partner, Professor Willow, has observed that wild Pokémon living around where Mega Stones have been discovered- particularly those matching the species, or type of Pokémon corresponding to the stone- are significantly more powerful than typical wild specimens. We've been looking into this together- he has a Leafeon who is far stronger than most others of its species, and I've been working with an absurdly powerful Bulbasaur who had been living in the wild metres from so. Much. Venusaurite.
Recently, though, I have been extremely wrapped up with the fact that apparently, Rayquaza can mega evolve, but not with a stone, oh no, with a move. Apparently there was a meteorite, but it has been eaten. By Rayquaza. I suppose that if any Pokémon had a unique cases for Mega Evolution, it would have to be a Legend- but what I wouldn't give to just have a look at that meteorite... Is it a similar case in your world- can Legends even do this where you are?
Sorry for the other question, but my assistant has read this over my shoulder and is dying to know why you have (also) made it your job to bother the various Sycamores.
HI WE DO A SIMILAR THING. I WOULD GO ONTO MY OWN BLOG BUT MY PHONE'S SO FAR AWAYYYY - @glitteryentity

Horizons Episode 33!! Wow this was a good one
AMETHIO!!!!! He's back :D and apparently they're following Rayquaza and found it! Looks like he's going it alone, Zir and Conia are on standyby in case anything happens. And looking back at the previews.... somethings gonna happen. He's going in with just a Corvinknight and a Ceruledge. His ass is not surviving.
A cool shot of the RVT and Rayquaza. Arcues he's huge. This is not a fight you want in on. And it's still got it's tera form on, what is up with that (can it mega evolve with it or no???)
Roy no-
Well okay it's his dream to catch it again cuz well... it did come out of his pokeball that his grampa gave to him. If I had a unique legendary come out of mine I'd be down to catch it again so really I can't say much.
On the other hand, Terapagos is making some noise too and now Liko is getting nervous which I can't blame her. Rayquaza is one of the stronger legendries out there so you really don't want it's full attention on you. And it appears to be angry af so uhhhhhh maybe we should, ya know. Run?
Haha. No :) I highly doubt it.
Oh that cannot be good.
Again, bro is fighting this bitch with nothing more than a Corvinknight and a Ceruledge. You are not surviving this Amethio, chill. Have you even looked at the type matchups? Geez kid.
But again, he's like.... very much looking for validation in the Explorers after not managing to get the pendant, and now they've shifted to Rayquaza cuz well.... bigger target and also very powerful, one of the Siz Heroes of Lucius (who I still suspect was killed by one of them long ago (seriously if it isn't what happened I'll eat paper))
Also btw the music was fire this episode, love what they had going on.
Oh he is not that far away from them okay.
Sequences that make me wanna scoop these kids up (specifically Roy) in a blanket and just get outta here.
He's really pushing it now, Rayquaza has been his whole goal this whole way. It's the reason why he even joined the Rising Volt Tacklers, and by god he's gonna get that fucking dragon back no mater what.
On Liko and Diana's side of things, they realize that Terapagos it trying to talk to the giant angry dragon but it won't fucking work cuz well it's a tiny little turtle with no powers of it's own here and well, as Diana said in the screenshot, it's just too riled up to notice Terapagos.
Also there's so much that y'all are missing here cuz I cannot take that many screenshots or even make gifs so uhhhh watch the show trust me there's a lot going on.
Speaking of moments that would be so enhanced with gifs....
HOLY MOTHER OF GOD THAT CERLUEGDE IS FUCKED.
So Amethio realizing that attacks from the ground just aren't working on it and Rayquaza can just dodge them easliy, deicded to get Ceruledge to hop onto Corvinknight and LAUNCH ITSELF onto the dragon to get a hit in at the least.
Only for Cerulegde to go from "Swords of Regrets" to "Face of Regrets" as it realizes that move did fuck all and then the poor thing gets thrown onto another rock outcropping.
AND THIS FUCKING DRAGON BEAMS THE GUY MULTIPLE TIMES GOOD LORD CHILL MY GUY.
And Amethio in a panic just hops onto Corvinknight to check on his Pokemon, who is most definitely out of the fight now.
I see why Kyogre and Groudon decided to retreat instead of fighting back in the games now. Homie does not hold back.
And apparently there's an image limit of 30 so I'll brb with a reblog oh god this episode was PACKED

Ok so
Imma ramble about my pokemon headcanon rn cuz I fucking can (getting my thoughts out now so I can compare them to the possible change after legends ZA comes out)
I'll start with the pokemon War. This is the ancient war in which AZ and the weapon are from. The war was between Paldea and Kalos. AZ uses the power of Yeveltal and Xernias to harvest life and resurect his flowette. The weapon succeeded, however it had several consequences. It killed hundreds possibly thousands of people and pokemon, flowette grew resent AZ for this action. The weapon also gave AZ immortality, an unintended affect of being the one to fire it. It created a huge crater where it landed, later coming to be known as area zero. Terastalization is the natural version of the energy that is left behind in this crater, however in kalos they pushed the energy to its extreme, creating mega evolution. Mega evolution being a purely artificial version of terastaliztion explains 4 things, 1: how ancient pokemon like arodactyle can mega evolve, 2: how artificial pokemon like mewtwo can evolve, 3: how some pokemon like mewtwo and charizard have multiple mega evolutions, and 4: the sun and moon pokedex entry stating that it is an extremely painful and unnatural thing (even though I'm pretty sure this was in realit6 just an attempt to soften the blow of removing megas from the game.).
Now you may be wondering how kitakami, which is near Johto, can have tera crystals, well I suggest that they wernt there to begin with. They game with orgerpon and the person she came with. Both of which are probobly originally from paldea and likely around the time after the weapon firing. Ogerpon having special tera forms with its masks suggests that it has some sort affinity towards the tera crystals that other pokemon don't, meaning it's not too farfetched to assume that under the right conditions of what looks like a volcanic creator, especially with the slugma around, being filled with water and a couple tera crystals, could be the right environment for them to grow naturally.
This could also explain dynamaxing even further north on Galar. Look at eternatus and tell me it doesn't look like crystals. Galar wasn't close enough for the full effect, however they got a smaller amount of the energy that caused dynamic dens to then appear around the region. Eternatus is likely another byproduct of the weapon that happened to flee up north where it gained power before being sealed away the dogs.
Now, all the way over in hoenn there is primal groudon, primal kyoger, and mega rayquaza. I don't think any of these are related to the. We know mega reqyaza was from swallowing a strange meteorite that gave it it's ability to mega evolve. The red and blue orbs are what allow Groudon and kyoger to change into their primal forms, but those existed before mega evolution did, so it's safe to day those are more tied to the pokemon themselves than to mega evolution.
Z-moves i think are alola. Separate thing, likely an ability of the tapus or byproduct of their activities.
The war between paldea and kalos i think was unrelated to the conflict that split the dragon into reshiram, zekrom, and kyrem, however i would not be surprised if they did help fight in the war on the side of kalos, judging by how reshiram and zekrom are very known in kalos, or at least that one castle.
On an unrelated note, I think every major landmass has its own regis. Every one has its own. Regigigas that pulled and then holds it together. They then all made their own regirock, regice, and registeel when the time came for that one's help. The regigigas in Galar however was awake for a longer period of time, and potentially never went to sleep, and eventually created two additional ones being regidrago and regielki. It's possible other regidrago and regieleki exist but it's unlikely, regidrago being a little more likely to have others than regieleki.
Now.... Zygard. I think that there are likely hundreds of thousands of zygard cells scattered throughout the world. Zygards job is to keep balance after all. All you need is a certain amount if them to make the 10%, 50%, and 100% forms, but even the 100% form isn't all of them, so technically not 100% of the zygard, however it might not be possible for it to make a form any bigger/stronger/using more cells than that form.

we got into Pokemon to impress a boy. it changed our life for the better i shit you not. we did not really impress said boy (we had the biggest crush on him as a lil kid I'm talkin like 3 years of age and he did Not like us like that) but getting into Pokemon was one of the best things we ever did i think. we would Not be who we are without Pokemon in our life JDJDJDJFFJ and we gOT INTO IT SOLELY TO IMPRESS SOMEONE!!! Pokémon Horizons: Six Heroes guesses
Episode 12 gave more detail about the story Roy talked about and that it’s about the ancient adventurer Lucius and his six Pokémon
And that Rayquaza and Arboliva must be 2 of the six
So my guesses for the other 4
If it’s a new Pokémon or form or something like that with the dlc that we couldn’t reasonably guess then oh well nothing we could of done tbh
Rayquaza = Rayquaza
Duh
Healing Wounds = Arboliva
Just to point out it’s most likely the green one despite the size potentially throwing it off since Arboliva is taller than trees but one of the smallest of the six and Lucius
Galloping across the Land
Brownish, all fours, mammalish Pokémon that can probably run/gallop fast
So a lot think Liko’s grandmothers Arcanine will be one but I don’t
The Pokémon existing characters have on them are just for them it seems, Fidough for a Paldean dog at home, Squakabilly a bird for a teacher etc, Liko’s grandmother might just fit the rich gentlewoman class in the games that has Pokémon like Growlithes and Arcanines plus also per dog
Now Hisuian Arcanine is interesting
I think the colors play a part, this one being light brownish has me lean towards it being a rock or ground type
Hisuian Arcanine being part rock leans into it
The image from the one picture reminded me of Mabosstiff but I doubt it
So an Hisuian Arcanine is my guess so far
Breaking through Walls
The common guess of a Hawlucha makes sense the silhouette looks like a bird and if it can break walls implies fighting type so the fighting/flying type Pokémon makes sense
Plus the colors match the fighting type and Hawluchas primary color being that reddish color
Hawlucha would be my guess but for an alternate
I like the Blaziken line, they are also bird fighters
And with stuff like potential mega evolution can help justify the seemingly powerful team the Adventurer had
Racing through the Sky
So looks like a bird but it doesn’t have an emphasis on it’s feet so the ones with bigger and prominent feet are probably out
And if anything it might have no feet as it could just be a tail that’s flowing behind it
Common guesses are Articuno, Corviknight, Archeops, Talonflame
Probably weird but because of the way the tail thing is as I said I could see an Yvetal
But I doubt more legendaries outside of Rayquaza
The head reminds me more of Talonflame and Skarmory
Due to color I’m leaning towards Talonflame as my guess
Plus does fit the racing aspect the most
Crossing Seas
Lapras is the common one it’s basically known for crossing bodies of water
Also saw a Hisuian Samurott guess as the body types are similar and the black horn seems to only belong to this one and it’s similar to the Samurotts
I think it’s just some part of Rayquaza as the colors seem consistent so the black is Rayquaza and blue the crossing seas Pokémon
The neck has others guess Lugia and could just have its wings folded and etc I don’t see it plus I don’t think he had like 3 legendaries and an Arboliva lol
Lapras is the strong guess, Samurott the preferred guess
So Arboliva, Hisuian Arcanine, Hawlucha, Talonflame, Lapras/Samurott my guesses
Feels weird looking at it together as it would be one Gen 9 Pokémon, two Gen 6’s then the weird Gen 1/4/8 that the Hisuians and Lapras can be
But just my guesses the images are purposely vague I think so they can be anything

I think I might understand why they went for Legends Kalos now.
As of February 2024, there's only a small hand full of Pokémon not available in any Switch game to some catchable or battling capacity:
Spinda
Patrat
Watchog
Pansage
Pansear
Panpour
Simisage
Simisear
Simipour
Furfrou
While it's true they could just drop into a Unova game, these pokemon already exist within the Kalos dexes without having to create new lore or forms for them.
Not to mention- if they do this correctly- they could also include the rest of the Mega evolutions not available outside of Let's Go or the 3ds.
So that means:
Ampharos
Steelix
Scizor
Heracross
Houndoom
Tyranitar
Sceptile
Blaziken
Swampert
Gardevoir
Sabeleye
Mawhile
Aggron
Medicham
Manectric
Sharpedo
Camerupt
Altaria
Banette
Absol
Glalie
Salamence
Metagross
Latios
Latias
Rayquaza (oh good lord)
Lopunny
Garchomp
Lucario
Abamasnow
Gallade
Audino
Diancie
With that said, there's still a few forms that might not be available
Primal Kyogre and Groudon
Ash Greninja
And Ultra Necrozma
There's a strong chance for Ash Greninja to make the cut, the rest might or might not make it. But still, that's an impressive feat if they don't fuck it up.
Unlike Sinnoh which had a relatively small native dex, even in Hisui, Kalos has a huge dex it can work with and most of these can be worked in one way or another.
Basically if they don't fuck it up and do things RIGHT (this is Game Freak we're talking about though, which is entirely possible), we could have almost all or even every lost Pokémon and forms on the Switch console at last. Just in addition to new forms, variants, etc we're guaranteed to get.
Okay, I talked myself into it. This was probably a good move. I'm cautious after SV was glitched to hell and back, and 2025 probably means January, but still? Optimism doesn't hurt.

I made an oops and first put this on my WOF only sub blog, so here we are again.
To break up my dragon drawing and animating time I did some Pokemon like I wanted to. Full disclosure: I only ever played Pokemon Diamond (I also played some Mystery Dungeon but that's not a main-line game). Any way, these are the starter and the version/box-art legendary I would have gone with had I been able to play all of the versions. And it's the form of the starter I like the best not including megas. It's just the main-line, for remakes consider that I'd take the same guy again. You'll noticed I like three things that really influence my decisions: reptile, bird, and round. So have some limited explanations as to my choices.
Red: charizard because it's a cool dragon and I like Mew a lot from the first movie so I wanted to draw it. I also loved Ash's sassy Charizard who was too cool to listen to him.
Silver: Lugia is a fish bird and Tododile is smol chompy dude.
Emerald: Rayquaza speaks for itself and the mega is tight. Grovyle was so cool in the anime and in the mystery dungeon games.
Diamond: The only one I actually played and I thought Dialga looked awesome. Piplup is round bird number 1.
White 2: I didn't really find myself drawn to any of the starters but Samurott was kinda interesting. White Kyurem is dope.
Y: Ash's Greninja was wicked and I like the Y shaped bird guy.
Moon: Bat and round bird number 2
Let's Go Evee: Lefeon is very cute and Mewtwo is also cool so I drew it.
Sword: Sobble is round and sad, very cute. I didn't like either legendary very much, but this dog had a sword.
Legends: Oh my gosh high Typhlosion is maybe my favorite of the bunch ever. And god of course.
Scarlet: I love the lizard bike that runs even though it has wheels. I also love round chomper. He wants upsies.
I will draw some more. I haven't drawn Pokemon in maybe ten years. And for many of these buggers it was the first time I ever drew them. So I stuck to sketches. I also want a Poke-sona. I'm thinking a dragon of sorts, maybe Dragonite, Flygon, or Salamance?

Oh yeah, I did manage to get a single Rayquaza yesterday despite Niantic actively working against me. Very happy with it, despite the fact that I couldn't get enough energy to mega evolve it.
I spent all day trying to coordinate with the three people who responded to me in my local Facebook groups and Campfire. Had to head out a short distance at 6pm and sit at a street corner with my brother while we got rained on.
We both had the hando number mistaken [it's 2191 and not 2161] so we both kind of freaked the fuck out at my shiny but a three star shiny is still absolutely great.

△ why are you so yandere for rayquaza you're actually scaring it
@aura-acolyte this you?
Anyways.
5/10
I'm not "yandere for Rayquaza" you fucking weirdo. That would imply I want to date him, trap him, keep him for myself. No, I simply worship him in all of his grace and power. In fact, I wish only for him to continue to be free and ever-present in our skies, guarding our planet and bringing equilibrium and unity wherever he deems it so. Many Hoennians do the same, I'm simply a little more forward about it.
As for why, well, most Rayquaza worshippers share similar reasons. The Draconids revere him for his role in halting the meteors that threatened our planet, a lot of people in Sootopolis grew to worship him after watching him placate the war between Kyogre and Groudon with a single mighty roar, and many others simply grew up knowing him as this all-powerful equalizer, the genesis of mega evolution. It's hard not to revere a creature so storied and bold, one whose talons have shaped our past and future in equal turn!
As for myself, well. I found myself in the ozone layer some years ago. I was hopeless then. Couldn't think of much reason to continue. I had no drive, no passion, no more energy to spare. But then, lo and behold, he appeared to me. He gripped me in his talons, he read my soul, he spoke to me in whispers and calls to endure, to just endure and find the meaning within the storm, the wrath to clear the skies, and the power to carve through this world despite its challenges. In that thin and freezing air, I finally found a meaning behind each breath. In those skies, I was reborn!
I don't care what you say. I don't care what anyone says. I will live and die by the guidance and will of the Guardian. Because of him, I found that meaning. Because of him, I am still alive.
O' Guardian on high, I thank you for every breath I take. Your fangs are in my fingertips, your fins carry my every step.
We are immutable. Inseparable.
A god and his angel.

📼 eye of the storm (calm in a moment of chaos)
[Mare and Zinnia breathe heavily as they finally reach the top of Sky Pillar. Even with thier unnaturally high stamina the trip up the tower was still quite tiresome, given how tall it was. And they had almost fallen multiple times.]
[As they stood atop the tower they couldn't help but notice how peaceful it was. Here, above the clouds, it was almost possible to forget that their was a massive battle between two titans raging below them. The only evidence of this was the cloud cover, which was nothing but storm clouds crackling with thunder and fire.]
["We're here." Zinnia says. "The ancient shrine of Rayquaza, Guardian of the Skies, Protector of the Earth, and the only being capable of ending the eternal conflict of Groudon and Kyogre."]
["So what do we do?" Mare asks. "Do we just... wait here for it to show up?"]
[Zinnia shakes her head. "No, we need to preform the summoning ritual." She holds out her hand. "I need your Keystone."]
["What? Why." Mare asks.]
["For the ritual." Zinnia explains.]
["Well... okay." Mare says.]
[She slowly takes the Keystone out of her Mega Ring and hands it to Zinnia. Zinnia removes the Keystone from her anklet.]
["Normally I'd bring at least four Keystones to be extra sure." Zinnia says. "But I suppose this will have to do." She holds the keystones up to the sky and begins to chant.]
["With jewel bright and borrowed might from the spirits of the departed... Through sacred rite, in thy great sight, my life as well I offer...”]
[“I summon thee to aid this fight and save us from disaster!”]
["Realize them upon this world! For this I do summon thee!"]
["Rayquaza!"]
[A bright light pierces the night sky and Rayquaza descends from the heavens.]

“books-are-my-life-stuff: Your stance is very similar to mine. I think the problem is because she just flat out refuses to explain. She barely explains any of her motives, she only just said to do this and not, jumps straight into the action without elaborating much. And that's very consistent in Masters too. Conversations with her are deliberately left vague, people find her hard to understand. So, I can see why she can be frustrating to some people.”
I don’t necessarily mind vague, but I feel like certain aspects just aren’t clear in a way that hinders understanding rather than builds something to engage in. Like the Aster thing. With all this talk of multiverse stuff, my gut reaction was wondering if this was an AU thing too, because we’re not really handed any other form of explanation. But if it’s just an old Pokemon she had that died, was its death related to some kind of mistake similar to what happened in the past? And if yes, is that why she’s so on about it? I dunno.
“Though, yeah, as what you said, maybe it's because Hoenn's lore is very much a mess in the remake. They tried to implement Rayquaza's significance in the plot of Emerald without creating a third game, but as a result Hoenn's lore felt...disorganized, and felt very underexplored too (especially regarding Draconic people beyond what Zinnia had explained). I'm on the same boat with you for preferring the old one more, and I wish Zinnia didn't just appear in postgame.”
I think it’s just the attempt to over-complicate. Rayquaza was already a big deal. Groudon and Kyogre were already kinda assholes. We did not need to go so in depth with how there are multiple universes and the Primals happened from meteor strikes that are recurring, and mega Rayquaza got its significant namesake from AZ who is in this a lot, and whatever the fuck project Azoth is. Like it’s trying to connect things, but in a way where I have lost the thread. Zinnia’s appearance, I think, is supposed to be the final pieces to answer the puzzle. But the puzzle still doesn’t feel complete, and worse feels overly complicated.
“But yeah, she's a great character, just trapped in a very messy lore. Once she could stand as her own character, she's pretty great. Which is why I like Zinnia's Legendary Event, because it resolved her internal conflicts she still had, managed to move on to the better future, and can stand as her own character without being too dependent on Hoenn's lore.”
Entirely fair, because yeah, I think there’s a lot of neat stuff going on with Zinnia. It would be nice to get a bit more of her throughout the game, but it’s also hard to say where she should’ve appeared or what she should be doing.

Shiny Badge Quest: We interrupt your scheduled programming…
Normally, I’d say, “Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain” but in this case life outside of the Pokéworld inhabited by Sparkles has temporarily paused their adventure.
Image: randomclicheusername
I came down with COVID. It’s isn’t Pokérus where I’d be getting Effort Values twice as fast as usual. It felt like my entire being was obligated by a Mega Rayquaza’s Dragon Ascent and being left as a puddle of goo.
It was NOT a good time. I’ve had zero energy to continue Sparkles journey and make progress. I just wanted to sleep and recover. We don’t got Universal Healthcare or a Nurse Joy to take care of us thus sleep is required.
BUT! There is good news! A bit of a spoiler…
I did succeed in finally overcoming the odds and defeated the first gym. I’ll be giving a full rundown in the voice of sparkles. Thus, things will be chugging along again.
Sparkles’ adventure will continue!
Now, excuse me as I return back behind the curtain and get some more rest.
