real life 'the average person only knows x' 'and y' 'of course' moment b/c not a single one of my coworkers knows who Pinochet was and up until now I would have assured you that basically everyone recognizes the name

#xyz #we got on the topic b/c i said something about henry kissinger dying #and a coworker didnt know anything about him and i incredulously started listing things fhat i thought were more and more obvious #until i got to pinochet (from the dulles brothers) and my brain stalled out #we asked like. half the fucking staff and nobody knew who he was #not even the peruvian guy (diff country i know but did op condor not also target peru???)#my entite world view has been shattered #and also ive been labelled a nerd 😔#like....cmon #nicolae ceausescu? fringe niche dictator to a usamerican i might argue #but PINOCHET!?
