A lot of Chucky's dislike for Tom would be insane projection mostly on his own part (and a lot of denial about it). Chucky sees Tom—his oldest daughter's first major boyfriend—and he sees himself, but he doesn't even realize it, so it's mostly subconscious. He thinks that Tom isn't good for Amy, and he's so sure that Tom treats her poorly without ever even seeing any evidence of that, when really it's quiet the opposite. Subconsciously, he thinks that Tom will essentially treat Amy the way he himself treats Tiffany. Even though he loves her, he's always been inherently selfish and an asshole. Tom can be an asshole, but mostly to people he doesn't know—with Amy, he's actually not at all like that, but Chucky spends a lot of time accusing him as such. He's so sure that Tom will hurt Amy in the end, when in actuality, Chucky has done more harm (unintentionally, sure) to his own daughter than anyone else ever could. In a LOT of ways.

And he knows that deep down, but he's in major denial over it.

Okay yall... meet Thomas 'Tom' Whitlock, Amy's boyfriend and future hubby 🤗

Born April 3rd, 1973, just outside of Los Angeles, California. His mother died in childbirth, and his father died by suicide when Tom was only three. Tom lived with his grandfather until he was about 14. At 14, Tom killed his grandfather with one of guns. He proceeded to set the house on fire, making it look like someone else did it. He stole his gtandfather's car, gun, and has pretty much been on the run ever since. He doesn't stay in places for too long, finding it easier to be in one town or city for a short period of time, wreak some havoc while he's there, then slip away into the night. He steals money from his victims, and that's how he gets by. He's a lone wolf, choosing to stay by himself. No friends, and now no family to speak of. Just himself, his car, and his gun. He likes to hold his victims at gunpoint and make them beg for their lives before ultimately shooting them in the head. There's a thrill to him with how much a person is willing to say and do in order to save themselves.

He meets Amy in late 2000, when he drives into her town. Amy, now 19, is living in Tiffany's old trailer and working two jobs just to get by, since she dropped out of college after her mother's 'death' in 1998. Tom sees Amy at her night job—a waitress at a diner he walks into. He notices that her smile doesn't match her eyes, but she seems to be quiet and reserved, almost strangely so for a girl so beautiful. There's something about her that stands out, but in a way that only he can see. So he decides to stay in town for longer than he intended to—just to see where this goes.

Tom has no idea that this girl he meets is the daughter of the infamous Lakeshore Strangler. They're both in for a wild ride together.

I'm thinking about how my girl can be unhinged and obsessive, specifically with Tom in mind. He's her first real head-over-heels affection and love that she ever found. Her intuition in her body, mind and soul knew that he was the one when they first met.

So thinking of Amy being more adept and trained with her psychic powers, along with being a witch, in the Soul Coven verse, she would bump into this vampire and immediately know who he is and that he's meant for her. But he at first is aloof and keeps to himself because of him being a recently turned vampire. So cue Amy, truly her mother's daughter, going into her book of spells or doing something along those lines to have this vampire that she knows is the one to dream of her and think of her. She could easily have done a love potion (or something along those lines), but she didn't want to 'cheat', per se, or make it too easy. She wanted it to still be somewhat organic, or at least give Tom the illusion that it was organic.

Thus, he starts dreaming of her, thinking of her often, far too often, to the point that he can't avoid her any longer. It's all as planned, it was meant to be, but Amy gave it—him, and ultimately them—just a little push.

The Boy is Mine by Ariana Grande is SO Amy and Tom coded (from Amy's POV)... she spent a good majority of her life not interested romantically in anyone, then walks in Tom at the diner where she works, and their eyes meet, and she's instantly enthralled by him, though she tries to play it coy and keep her mysterious edge to her when they first meet, which only just pulls him in closer to her as well. Without any words, initially, just that first eye contact, they recognize a darkness within each other that the outside world simply passes off as "weird" and "off putting".

Amy and Tom are definitely twin flames—though their backgrounds are vastly different (ex: Amy a loving family while Tom did not, etc), there's a darkness in both of them that they near instantly clocked the moment they first met. If anything, Tom pursued Amy first. Both of them stayed to themselves most of their lives, no friends or lovers, never feeling anything as intense as what they first felt when they were near each other. Then, when they actually started to talk and got to know one another, they definitely opened even more doors than either of them were used to. And once Amy let Tom in fully, she fell in love quite quickly, similar to her mother with Chucky. Instant and heavy and intense. He's the only one not put off by her, and if anything, he's drawn to her like a black hole absorbing a nearby star, swallowing her whole and without hesitation. He laughs at her dark humor and listens to her without judgment, and even more so, he helps support her during her episodes. He doesn't say much because frankly, he's more of a physical contact guy than a guy good with words, but he just lets her rest against him and grounds her back to reality. He's more of a logical man, a realist in every sense of the word, and sometimes she needs that when her head is too far gone and up in the clouds. He keeps her grounded and there in reality with him, which is also good for moments where she gets consumed by paranoia or is convinced something is watching her or that something bad will happen.

Amy and Tom are very much like a Taylor Swift song in real form—intense and passionate, but oh so romantic, like they've known each other forever. Specifically, songs from the Reputation album: King of My Heart, Dress, Call It What You Want, and New Years Day.
