I think, personally, we should have gotten a Calypso Saga before Vengeance Saga. But rather than it be all about just Odysseus and Calypso, we also get to see some character development for Telemachus. See him go on that diplomatic mission that's only going to get a brief mention in the final saga. Learn more about his father from the people who fought beside him and make connections like he does in the original story, and then show how his journey of growth into a man differs and resembles, at different points, his father's time on Ogyaia and turning into a "monster". And maybe even elaborate on what "monster" is supposed to mean in the context of their narrative.

I feel like Epic the Musical seriously suffers from a lack of connective tissue, and that Jorge, at some point, moved away from telling a cohesive story in exchange for following the rule of cool.

I don't think another saga would have worked very well, but you're right about the lack of connectedness. That's why I hope we get an animated movie that can bridge the gaps between songs and sagas (like going from Just a Man to Full Speed Ahead?? What happened there) without necessarily adding extra songs. Plus, I like animated movies...

About the last part tho, I disagree. I think there is a story Jorge wants to tell in his mind, it's just that it doesn't align with what a lot of people want. Which is perfectly normal! It's his story after all. There's also the fact that you can only have so much story in just a concept album. I think it's best to think that this is only the beginning for Epic, and that there'll probably be additions and revisions from the concept album in the future!
